But I can reveal the Albert Square veteran is set for a turbulent comeback next month as her nearest and dearest and given the devastating news that she has died.

A show insider said: “Kat’s return has caused a lot of excitement, but it won’t be quite what everyone’s expecting.

“Rather than her friends and family rolling out the red carpet the residents are told she has died. It’s set to be a very emotional storyline — but that’s probably fitting for Kat.

In this day and age I like when they go back to the way soaps used to be, able to slow-burn and tell stories at a more realistic pace.

I think the pacing of the show has improved, the scriptwriting just needs a serious overhaul.
Never mind axing cast members and bringing new/old ones in, they need to seriously look at the writing team.

And, although we have Mel back and Aiden's stuff is ongoing, I'm surprised he hasn't set up any major plots that will take us through this year yet.

I'm guessing the Slaters will have them and they're waiting for Kat to come back.

Mind you, the whole Mel and Jack thing felt incredibly forced.

I actually don't mind them together so far.

I'm just disappointed Max hasn't gone because I think one of the positives has been the lack of Branning/Beale's. They've really dominated this show the last few years, as much as I like most of them. I think Max is done as a character, just the thought of him being back onscreen soon makes me feel depressed. :laugh:

I'm hoping this is a sign that they've got the cast in place and everything can start to improve from here on in.

Not sure why the constant mystery with Hayley when it's pretty obvious who she is and what's going on.
