What we're being told about this Slater story line is a damn mess.

First, Kat, Mo and Jean were returning to 'sort Stacey out' and Kat was the old Kat without the baggage of her husband or her babies. Then Kat was bloody fake dead. Now Lacey Turner is saying that Kat, Mo and Jean will ruin Stacey's life by causing trouble on the Square and expecting her to pick up the pieces and NOW Alfie is returning after all.

So what we were originally told about Kat, Jean and Mo coming back to 'sort Stacey out' is wrong or a lie considering it sounds like Stacey will have to sort the three of them out. Unless Lacey just has a different view of the story line that John Yorke/Jessie Wallace has.

I don't think it's a bad thing, Kat's second stint on the show wasn't that successful because they made her too dour and unsympathetic, she was always meant to be a tart with a heart but they forgot the 'with a heart' bit and the relationship with Alfie just became overbearing.

Stacey was heading in a similar way, they turned her into a boring housewife whose only stories seemed to revolve around affairs and being a supporting character in Fowler dramas.

Yes, the whole point of him being there is to make changes. They trust John Yorke, he has a long and successful history with the show and the BBC. He's there until summer at least, and he's probably been instructed to tidy up the place and get it into a healthy position whilst they find a permanent replacement.

It wouldn't surprise me if he's also got a part in looking for the new show runner, and when they're in office, he'll remain in a consultant capacity to, hopefully, put the kibosh on any ridiculous ideas in the future like killing major characters.
