Thanks to PWTorch.com for the following recap:

Hulk Hogan threw Spike TV under the bus in an interview to promote his battle against WWE and Vince McMahon when explaining the decision to go head-to-head with WWE Raw on the first Monday of 2010. Hogan also claimed “Vince is going to throw everything he has” at TNA on January 4. He cited his Australian Tour where he says McMahon “did everything he could to upset the apple cart” and promote WWE’s tour of Australia in spring 2010. “When I talked to Spike about going head-to-head on Monday nights, I did it for a reason. If you’re going to pick a fight, pick a big fight,” Hogan said on the Main Event Radio show. “Everybody (at Spike) was scared of their own shadow. ‘What if we don’t do a number?’ The thing is, I said, ‘Don’t even worry about it. You have to give the audience a choice.’”

Hogan also claimed that since TNA made the announcement on the UFC special this past Saturday, he’s received calls from wrestlers in WWE who are interested in coming to TNA because they’re “unhappy with their situation.” “Ever since I made this announcement, you wouldn’t believe some of the wrestlers that have been calling me. A lot of friends, a lot of people in WWE who are not happy with their current situation,” Hogan claimed. “And you know, we just might surprise you. We might just get some momentum on Monday nights quicker than you think.”

Bubba The Love Sponge show :

- Hogan had the flizzzu, thats why he wasnt himself at TUF

- Dixie Carter is hot. Hogan broke a crazy sweat when she got in the suv with Hogan

- Foley promo discussed.

- Kurt Angle is getting back on track.

- All this Jarrett stuff is a bunch of crap

- Anyone that is not on Team Hogan is going to be at the bottom of the pile

- Fans have been waiting for this --- picking a fight with WWE.

- Even if TNA doesnt do a number, the people will still respect, because they went for a fight.

- Dixie cut his deal with Bob/Dixie and Spike. All the guys that are talking about owning shares doesnt mean anything. Talking about ROI effecting certain peoples shares. Game changes now.

- Talking about Hogan coming in and not being talent only. Rumors that 'Hogan is going to be Hogan'. Not the case.

- Bubba: "Dixie, you have no idea what you signed up for"

- Hogan is the booker. Throwing many things around on plane. Need real life. RVD mentioned. Hogan says he had life. Had that mystique after coming from ECW. (Cant believe Hogan mentioned ECW and knew what it was). Talks about how they started beating RVD all the time. How the politics held him down.

- Hogan big fan of Jeff Hardy. Knows how he'd use him. Hogan is writing, getting ready to turn things upside down. Hogan called Nash. Wants to talk to him about stuff.

- Really matters who wants to play. Going to lean on Nash. Certain female had big dollar signs on Impact last week. Has not reached out to Savage. Hogan cant wait to get into Black Machismos head. Big plans for AJ Styles and Samoa Joe.

- Hogan hasnt talked to Russo yet. Can wait to talk to him. Big things coming for him.

- After Graziano deposition, Hogans mind is dialed into TNA. Big meeting going on in Nashville. Some guys worrying about change. Hogans going to flip the thing. Guidance from Eric Bischoff scripting next few weeks.

- Writers are a nightmare. Foley doesnt need a writer. Hogan has respect for him. Russo and Ed Ferarra are in there. At the end of the day, if Russo comes up with a great suggestion fine. The writers are going to be in a secondary position. If the TNA wrestlers cant work without the writers, and draw emotion, they can leave and go up north where everything is scripted there is no emotion. If thats whats going on in TNA, they can pack up.

- Going in trying to put back on track like with Turner. Meaning not copying, but putting 'real life' into it. Injecting emotion.

- Talks about Umaga. He and Kennedy had torn the house down in Australia. Tells old school stories about The Samoans in the Cow Palace. Had been partying at Afas house. Tells story about Umaga as a 3 yr old kid falling asleep on Hogans bicep. Umaga told Hogan about the story on the tour. Talks about falling into the ropes after the Flair shoulder tackle. His hip had popped out. He hammered it back in.

Talks about working with Umaga in the Flair match in front of 15-20,000 people. The two of them went to a bar after. Flair on left side, Jenifer and Lacey Von Erich on couch, Umaga and Godfather on his right -- sat and drank ... last thing that happened was Hogan said bye to everyone - last one he said bye to was Umaga ... was going to give him a call for TNA .... Umaga very respectful and nice.

- Hogan talks about Rick Rude being a shoot great arm wrestler. No one could beat him. Bubba talks about Rude flipping on some local doctor.

- As soon as Tiger gets on camera and tells the truth, there will be a grace period where everyone will be all over him, and then everyone will forgive, it wont be his legacy - refering to the steroids/Arsenio Hall

**** Hogan came off as a real fan of the business. Knew alot about TNA. Was shocked that he'd followed ECW and knew what went down with RVD when HHH started making him job.

He is definately in this thing to win, and has ownership in the company. Bottom line is he is against the whole scripted no emotion feel of the current landscape. Wants to inject life into the product, and get raw emotion like they had during the Nitro days.

Sounds promising. Hogan has a lot of money to make still in pro wrestling if TNA takes off to it's not as if he is going to destroy it upon arrival. I'm optimistic.

Now that's a Raw opening like a Raw opening is meant to be ... raw.

The full lyrics are beyond hillarious though. In fact I can say with a certain degree of confidence that they are the most ricocolous 'lyrics' I have ever seen.

Deport my rights!
Hurricanes in chains!
I see the donut
And tried to MacBeth!

Who’s been in the room?
It’s Friday in Spain!
Freedom in that ****
And want to refrain!

(chorus)
Too much guns and not enough sky,
What has caught the thorn in your eye?
Too much guns and not enough sky,
I lost again, but I gotta make change!
Too much guns and not enough sky,
What has caught the thorn in your eye?

You just killed a surfer!
You don’t care what’s inside!
I see my donut
Is dusted black and gray!

Your brain can follow me
As you walk by!
I reach out my hand!
Display, and watch me cry!

(chorus)

It’s my life in a box
And charred to beat!
Taking chalk in my arms
It’s the soul of me!
You want fire,
Ashes see me laying face down
The more freedom rhyme
For your alibi full time!

I’m walking on stones and glass
When I reach out my hand
I know you can’t stand
Me for what I am
Or once I add it all
Are your only things
Ain’t just without weeks!

(chorus)

I stuck with DX, man. I stuck with them as a nostalgia act in 2006 when boring twats complained that they were too old for the DX act, and I supported them all throughout 2007 and 2008 with the random, entertaining get togethers.

But by christ, this PG DX is too much altogether.

World Wrestling Entertainment has announced that Divas champion Melina has vacated her championship title due to injury.

WWE acknowledged that she suffered an injury, but did not elaborate that her injury is a torn ACL
suffered at last Tuesday's Raw house show.

WWE said an 8-diva tournament will begin on tonight's Raw to determine the new champion. No participants have been announced at this time.

PWTorch

By James Caldwell, Torch assistant editor

Pro Wrestling was legitimately relevant last night. It was reflected in "WWE" and "TNA" becoming Trending Topics on Twitter and combined TV viewership of nearly 8.0 million viewers (with some overlap) that established the peak level of today's available wrestling audience.

Raw delivered its largest audience since the Raw after Summerslam with 5.6 million viewers. Impact delivered its largest audience ever with 2.2 million viewers and a peak of nearly 3.0 million viewers for Hulk Hogan's debut to start the second hour opposite the beginning of Raw.

WWE and TNA will have a tough time matching anything at that level in the short-term, but as much as TNA said beforehand that the ratings were irrelevant, TNA might have earned a regular Monday night timeslot. Stay tuned in the weeks to come.

If there's one thing to definitely conclude from the ratings for last night's TNA Impact, we know that know TNA didn't blow their first Monday night show by delivering an opening segment that contained a "This is bull----" chant from their fans.

Jeff Hardy appearing at the end of the first segment gave TNA momentum to what has to be considered a ratings victory for the promotion.

The first quarter-hour opened with a 1.58 quarter-hour, then climbed to a 1.70 quarter-hour in the second hour, which featured Ric Flair, and peaked for the hour with a 1.78 third quarter-hour rating before video packages and commercials filled the fourth-quarter hour.

TNA built momentum in the first hour, kept viewers tuned in for the start of the second hour, and didn't lose too much of an audience while WWE Raw was on the air for the final 105 minutes of Impact.

Sure, TNA Impact dropped 38 percent from a 1.88 quarter-hour for Hulk Hogan's debut (9:00-9:15 p.m.) to a 1.16 quarter-hour at the end of the hour (9:45-10:00 p.m. EST). However, TNA rebounded in the third hour with steadily-increasing ratings before peaking with the A.J. Styles vs. Kurt Angle match.

WWE also delivered on the night. Raw captured the male 18-49 demo at a level usually reserved for the Raw after WrestleMania. The show was also up 6.9 percent in viewership compared to the average of 2009's TV viewership.

Wrestling fans were given a taste of the first Monday Night Wars last night with big names, big stars, good wrestling, and big surprises. If the promotions want to stay relevant, though, they will have to build momentum with storylines that have more shelf-life than an NWO Reunion.

TNA getting those kind of ratings when up against Bret Hart is phenomenal. Logic dictates that a TNA going up against the more popular WWE would bring TNA's ratings down, but they got their biggest audience ever. And the audience before Raw even started was huge, showing there is a big interest in TNA's product.

Rumours of Helms going to TNA and taking Matt Hardy with him (matt has been hinting at it on his twitter)

And that Booker T will be a surprise entrant into the Royal Rumble

AND that Chris Jericho might be cheating on his wife

Novo

It would appear that Chris Jericho accidentally posted two messages on his Twitter account which were not meant to be read by the general public as the following tweets were deleted shortly after its initial posting:

"Well u can invite her too! Gotta take care of my Aussie girls (happy face emoticon) U ever come to the US?"

"Yes I have changed my wig a few times over the years."

Yes off course he is cheating on his wife.....

The Rumored TNA Genesis Surprise, iMPACT! To Mondays?, More
Starting Thursday night
, TNA Live will run on TNAWrestling.com. They will be doing pre and post iMPACT! shows.

Spike and TNA have been discussing more Monday night live specials for iMPACT!, but it is unknown when the next one will be. It could be as early as next Monday.

The following is a possible spoiler for Sunday's TNA Genesis PPV… It is believed that a "name" talent will be making their debut with the company at Sunday's Genesis PPV. The three leading candidates would be Tommy Dreamer, RVD and Ken Anderson. Due to Dreamer's 90-day no-compete clause with WWE, it's unlikely to be him. Anderson is a good possibility, especially due to his recent involvement with Hulk Hogan in the Hulkamania
tour. As of now, there is no confirmation on who it will be.

Anderson will either debut at Sunday's Genesis as the 'Major TNA Wrestling Superstar Acquisition' teased on Thursday's iMPACT!, or he will debut at the following night's television taping.

Current plans call for Anderson to debut at Genesis, but should the company decide to hold out, he will debut at the following evening's television tapings.

Either way, Anderson will debut with TNA next week.

There are conflicting reports coming in on Jeff Hardy's status with TNA. Sources in the company are saying that Hardy has signed a contract with the company while friends of Hardy have said that he told them he has absolutely not signed a deal. The fact Hardy hasn't appeared with TNA since January 4th would indicate that he hasn't signed or committed to any dates.

In related Jeff Hardy news, he was said to be upset at the recent segments on WWE’s SmackDown! where CM Punk used his name in promos to get himself over when Hardy is not even in WWE anymore to 'defend' himself. One person close to Hardy said that one of the reasons he decided to appear on January 4th was just to prove a point to WWE. Word is that friends of Hardy are telling him that at the end of the day, Jeff in TNA is a bad move because he comes across as a much bigger star with WWE.

Despite Hardy's legal problems and his appearances for TNA, WWE still wants him back down the road simply because he's a huge draw for them.

I'm also told that many people in TNA believe he's going to do some 'hard time' and TNA is holding off on using him right now until his legal issues are resolved.

At it's best it's amazing physical drama in a one take, no stuntmen scenario involving some genuinly amazing athletics being used to tell a story as opposed to fight a contest. At it's worse it's fantastic comedy in that oh-so-bad-it's-good way.

The business is endlessly fascinating to follow. The real life characters that surround the industry are better than most fictional characters that grace TV shows.

The best acting is done in the ring in front of tens of thousands without a retake. If you know someone in Hollywood who can pull that off better, give me their number because I have a makeshift ring out the back I have been waiting to use.

Kids will always like wrestling. Hicks also love Boxing, motorsports and Deadliest Catch. That does not mean they are the only audience who watch those products.

Before WWE's recent switch to a PG rating, Monday Night Raw's core demographic was upmarket 18-24 year olds.

I'll name you one anyway.... the great Mickey Rourke. Have you seen The Wrestler? Magnificent film.

All you have to do is look at the stadiums they play to in the States and the people in the crowd and you'll know what I'm talking about: rednecks or children. Are you being serious? Mickey Rourke did not wrestle professional wrestling matches during The Wrestler. He shot them in the manner movie action scenes are shot. They didn't focus a hard camera on him and show him having a full thirty minuet match will all associated building of tension and drama without any cutaways, did they?

I have been watching the product for ten years. I have a very, very good idea of who you would find in a wrestling crowd. Thousands of 'regular people' - whoever the hell they are. Hicks? Yes. Children? Yes. Just like any other spectator sport event in any other corner of the globe.

I'll just never understand the fascination with it that's all, or the sub culture that's developed from it. I'll just never understand the fascination with it that's all, or the sub culture that's developed from it. Sure you get a mix of people who get interested in any form of entertainment and the organizers will plan their schedule accordingly, but for the most part they play in the south or midwestern area of the U.S.A - the YEE Haww states, as I like to refer to them.
The only simmilarities boxing and wrestling share is that they involve athletes, rings and fixing.

What are you basing these findings of yours off? Do you conduct surveys in your spare time? Like I already said, Monday Night Raw's key demographic was upmarket 18-24 year olds. WWE put on shows all over America and the world with no bias to particular regions. The fact that hicks seem to have a serious hard on for 'rasslin is just .. well ... just what it is. Knackers have a hard on for dog breeding. Is that an entirely fair, balanced representitive of the dog breeding culture?

Now for some wiki action ...

Royal Rumble 2008 - Detroit, Michigan
No Way Out 2008 - Seattle, Washington.
WrestleMania XXV - Houston, Texas.
Backlash 2008 - Providence, Rhode Island.
Judgement Day 2008 - Rosemont, Illinois.
Extreme Rules 2008 - New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Bash 2008 - Sacramento, California.
Night Of Champions 2008 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Summerslam 2008 - Los Angeles, California.
Breaking Point 2008 - Montreal, Quebec.
Hell In A Cell 2008 - Newark, New Jersey.
Bragging Rights 2008 - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Survivor Series 2008 - Washington D.C.
Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2008 - San Antonio, Texas.

I'm actually looking at where they're playing this year and the line up is predominantly the midwest or south, plus the British Isles, with a few gigs in California too.

They obviously stop off in other big states but there's far more being performed in the south and middle.

If you are looking at the next set of dates they always follow along a certain route. Like bands do, for instance. They will reach the north in due course. The lack of zig zagging up and down the country I'm guessing saves them quiet a lot of gas and ****.

http://www.wwe.com/schedules/events/

Seems perfectley fair to me. Besides which the PPV list I posted above are the most important, marquee events of the year. Meaning the most important television and business wise. The vast majority of which are in the north.

Yep, that's what I'm reading too. You have to admit though, places like Texas, Tennessee and Louisiana get hit a fair few times a year. And, lets not forget, hicks can be found everywhere in the States. Every state has them, just like we do.

Which sort of invalidates your point somewhat, given the lenghts you have gone to prove that WWE bias the touring towards the south. Every state has trendy young white middle class suburban dwellers too.

Did you see the huge chunk of dates in the California area right below that Texas spree?

Texas is a very large state, you know. The largest in fact. It makes sense to tour it a lot.

Yes, trendy young... that's the key. And anyway, I think you're overestimating their contribution here. By and large wrestling is derided in the more affluent areas of the States. My cousins and their friends can't stand the fecking show, as well as anybody else I've crossed paths with who doesn't wear a baseball cap and has a full set of teeth. I'm generalizing obviously but that's how I feel about it.

And California is a hugely populated area so they'd obviously go there.

Wrestling is derided everywhere. Your right, you are generalizing. To a scary degree. Not like you at all.

Your arguing from assumption and generalization, I'm arguing from the all too educated standpoint of being a passionate follower of the product and the business behind it for the past decade. Of course hicks contribute a lot but the main body of the audience is fairly ordinary people.

The USA Network don't want a show aimed at people driving pick up trucks that are fifteen years old. They have advertising space to sell and wrestling seems to work as a pretty stellar model to build a trendy, young to late twenties audience to flog **** to. It would not have been in a prime time slot every Monday night for the past 17 years had this not been the case.

Over 70% of the audience are over 18 years of age. That's from Nielsen, by the way. The dudes who compile rating information.

Hicks contribute hugely to this product, and it can be seen by the amount of touring they're doing in the south and midwest, which should be more difficult for people to get to compared to places that are most accessible and contain a larger population density.

Of course they're trying to revamp it but they still have the bible belt and midwest to fall back on. And as for young people following it - look at the state of the shitty films that Hollywood are producing. Same story. Anyway, I just don't get it. Never will.

A decision has been made by TNA and Spike TV to move TNA iMPACT! permanently to Monday nights, reports the The Wrestling Observer.

The second Monday night iMPACT! is scheduled to air on March 1 following the success of the first Monday iMPACT! on January 4.

The March 1 episode will air at 9:00 p.m. EST, but the official weekly timeslot has not been confirmed yet.

The likely taping schedule will be live on Mondays one week, then tape the following week's iMPACT! the next day on Tuesdays.

According to a source, WWE stars Chris Jericho and Gregory Helms were arrested Wednesday morning in Kenton County, KY around 5 a.m. They were arrested by the Erlanger (KY) Police Department. Both men were charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place.

According to the source, they were both bonded out in about an hour. Kenton County is close to Cincinnati, OH. That is where WWE SmackDown! was taped last night.

TMZ.com, the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Examiner have picked up the Chris Jericho and Gregory Helms arrest story that we reported on earlier.

In an update on the story, Chris Jericho and Helms were spotted by local police officers in Erlanger, Kentucky, near where WWE was taping Smackdown Tuesday in Cincinnati, and were both seen "extremely intoxicated" at a local gas station around 5AM Wednesday morning.

After the two were detained and taken to Kenton County for "alcohol intoxication in a public place," they were later released on a $120 bond each.

Since then, TMZ.com obtained mugshots of the two which is now circulating online.
