The Lost Weekend - Great, harrowing, heartwarming story about a writer dealing with alcoholism with typical awesome 40's performances. Reminded me that I ought to watch more classic B&Ws.

Akira - Twisted, iconic anime feature. It takes awhile to get going but once it does it never stops. The last half hour is the most twisted half hour of anything I have ever seen. One to put on the list even if your not into anime.

28 Weeks Later - I think I like this more than 28 Days Later. It's a much more gritty horror film and didn't lose my interest in the third act like Danny Boyle's film did. Nobody does intense better than Robert Carlyle. And his daughter is well fit in it.

I saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes on Friday and then Final Destination 5 last night. Both great films that scared the ****** out of me and weirdly both had the Golden Gate Bridge.

Not a big fan of the Planet of the Apes franchise tbh, seen the original, 2 of its sequels and then Tim Burton remake and wasn't expecting much from this one but it was pretty good. And I'm now sh!t-scared of chimps. I still love orang-utans though. The plot seemed to pace well and I was constantly interested bt there was one cringey moment that caused everyne in the cinema to laugh...

Malfoy: "Get your filfthy paws off me, you damn dirty ape!"
Gollum: "NOOOOOOO!" :D

Always been a fan of the Final Destination series but thought 3 and 4 were dumb. FD5 was amazing though. It really was darker again, had an interesting shift from the others, the death scenes were intense, the 3D was worth watching and the twist at the end was orgasmic. I did not predict that one.

I'm watching The Bleeding at the moment. I downloaded it without knowing what it's about. And so far it's interesting, a slow pace, with an interesting family, it could almost be a play.

When it's over I'm going to put on The Company Men.

edit: neither movie was that good. The Bleeding went a bit odd and like a slasher movie after the first half hour, and The Company Men was just dull and not much happened throughout.

Cowboys & Aliens - 8/10. Not going to win any awards but I really enjoyed it. Daniel Craig plays his part with the same coolness as he plays Bond, and Olivia Wilde

The Queen - 9/10. Helen Mirren certainly deserved the Oscar for her performance in this. Just magnificent.

Unknown - 8/10. The third time I have watched this for some reason but I still enjoyed it. Not quite as good as Taken, but Liam Neeson and Diane Kruger  save it.

Inglourious Basterds - 10/10. Third time I have seen this too but it gets better each time you watch it. Still one of my favourite films of recent times. Christoph Waltz plays Hans Landa brilliantly, and Diane Kruger just makes the film.

Knuckle

http://static.linkleak.org/sites/linkleak/files/styles/cover/public/covers/knuckle2011dvdripxvid-taste.jpg

Its a documentary movie which has been filmed for the last 12 years and follows several irish traveller familys and the long running feuds which are settled and fueled by arranged bare knuckle fights between the familys often with huge amounts of cash at stake on the outcome.

Its violent and tragic how even blood relatives are seperated by defending the family name in feuds that started generations before these people were even born but somehow it has an element of being honourable.

Paddy Doherty makes a brief appearence as one of the referees who is there to oversee a fight.

Its a good insight into a slightly hidden side of irish travellers and how they settle their own disputes in house and between themselves.

I really enjoyed it and theres nothing too graphic about the fighting but a fair bit of blood it left me with a feeling that although the travellers let this cameraman and his crew inside the community and let him see just about everything they never actually gave the real reasons behind a lot of the disputes they kept that to themselves.

I would definitely recommend to anybody thats interested or curious its a good watch.

Notorious

The life and death story of Notorious B.I.G. (a.k.a. Christopher Wallace), who came straight out of Brooklyn to take the world of rap music by storm.

A little on the long, drawn out side. Good. I always love learning more about people. But lacked a lot. It was just 'and this and this and this'..... with rap music

Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

It was alright. Some good action, some obvious themes... but I was really unimpressed with the cast. Franco was fine but not really brilliant, the others were nobodies, and Tom Felton cannot act to save his life. I gave it a 7/10 though because it was what it was. A decent action flick.

It gets a 8/10 from me

I thought Franco was great, much better than in Spiderman and 127 hours. Lithgow as his father was his usual brilliant self and Andy Serkis was amazing once again (although IMDB have neglected to even acknowledge him on the first page of actors once again). The failure for me was Brian Cox. He is way too big an actor to play his role in this film. Tom Felton should never have been in the film. The only reason he got the role is due to his Potter role IMO.

As for the story line itself. I thought it was a breath of fresh air on an old story. It has a credible base and moves on from there. The only time i found myself raising questions was towards the end when the apes gathered in the woods.

Where were they going to go from there?

Trust 8/10...............If this was passed to be shown to every 13 year old in school i would have no qualms in giving it a 10/10

Trust is pretty shocking and, while uncomfortable, i believe it could stop a fair few of our kids, especially girls, being used as prey for online pedophiles. It is quite shocking but i for one would prefer my daughter watch a film that opened her eyes to such a danger, rather than her be given a sugar coated view of the world.

I really didn't expect this to be as good as it is. It has everything really, action, comedy, great acting and a great storyline. Probably one of the funniest films I've seen actually even though it isn't a comedy.

The only complaint I've got about it really is that is should be about half an hour longer to explain some of the background characters a bit better

I thought it was better than good. I thought it was great! :)

Hmm... Recently...

Killer Elite: 7.5/10 A decent performance from everyone involved and based on true events.

Contagion: 7/10 Worth a watch. Matt Damon is very good as per usual.

Drive: 7/10 It would have received an 8/10 if it wasn't for the dire slow music in the background that almost sent me to sleep.

Abduction: 7/10 Great story but the acting was dire at times.

Eyes Wide Shut - So good that it has kept me up all night.

Usually I have an idea about where a story is going or at least have a theory or something, but I had no idea at all about this..

It is unreal how similar Tom Cruise's character is to Patrick Bateman (from American Psycho) aswell.. from the styling, lines, facial expressions, hair, personality.. they are almost the same character, except this guy isn't a serial killer.

Everyone over 18 needs to watch this film. It is weird as **** though.

Paranormal Activity 3... more funny than scary and ending wasnt explained 5/10

.London, 1965: Like many other youths, Jimmy hates the philistine life, especially his parents and his job in a company's mailing division. Only when he's together with his friends, a 'Mod' clique, cruises London on his motor-scooter and hears music such as that of 'The Who' and 'The High Numbers', he feels free and accepted. However, it's a flight into an illusionary world

It's a Phil Daniels in it, and cheeky cameo from Sting
