Nah I loved it. Plenty of movies are dumb as a box of rocks and I could sit here pointint out every technical inconsistency but really it's job was to be entertaining and I was entertained.

It's not as if it's Schindlers List. That said I probably won't watch it again.

Think it was way too far fetched but yes, entertaining I suppose. My main problem with it was the two leads, who I can't handle at all. Never been a fan of Foxx - up his own hole - and Butler has no screen presence or versatility.

Sod all versatility, I agree, but I think he has screen presence when confined to certain roles.

Foxx is loged straight up his own arse though. Has been for years. Still, I had no complaints about him in the movie.

Still, at least we had another brilliantly generic Colm Meaney role to enjoy. I just cant take him seriously prowling around corners with a gun.

The Live Election Debates. Pretty good ensemble piece, although one of the three was completely out of his depth, while another looked like a bit part player galliantly trying to do his best with a role that was far too big for him, and as for the other -pompous little boy who can't see the trees for his ar£e.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010). Another stale and unimaginative horror remake from a production company who've built a solid reputation for themselves as a team of professionals committed to churning out hallow, disposable remakes of older classics, with absolutely none of the style of the originals. This was mind blowingly awful, and one has to feel sorry for Jackie Earle Haley who deserved far much more than this tired old piece of rubbish.

Shadowlands. I've always loved this intimately crafted little film which explores the life altering relationship that C.S Lewis embarks upon (a never better Anthony Hopkins) with an American lady, a relationship that changes the very fabric of his existence. It's just such a wonderful film, and very affecting.

Anvil - The Story of Anvil. It's a documentary about a heavy-metal group who enjoyed success in the early eighties but nothing much since. However the two main guys in the band are eternal optimists and are still trying to 'make it'. This film is like a spoof like This is Spinal Tap expect it is real.

The Baader-Meinhof Complex.

It's an interesting film. I'm often complaining about society but never to the levels of those such as the RAF [Red Army Faction, not our RAF ;)] and whilst it's always glamourised to be part of a revolutionary faction it's always overlooking the violence, the chaos, the disregard for society, that such thinking entails.

I'm also a big fan of Martina Gedeck. She was fantastic in "Das Leben der Anderen" and excels again here. Also didn't recognise Moritz Bliebtreu.

So yeah... big surprise, the movie was piss poor, but then what do you expect from Platinum Dunes i.e. the lousy horror remake factory?

Err... how would I spin this into a backhanded recommendation? It's big, super loud and edited like a music video/reality TV show. idk, I kinda felt it's a little overrated. The constant chopping of timelines or whatever you want to call them began to irk me and I felt no sense of closure at the end. Lonesome Dove. Not a film by the strictest of terms, this mini-series has a wonderful cast and production design that do justice to the source material - an epic Western novel written by Larry McMurtry. I don't know how many times I've come back to watch it again over the years and at this stage I don't care because it's just a beautifully crafted piece that I never get tired of. With it's rich characters, multi-layered storyline and stunningly sparse and poetic dialogue, this is a piece of work that transcends the boundaries usually associated with the Western and becomes something so much more real and affecting. Basically, I think it's a masterpiece. Oh, and it helps when you have Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones playing the main roles!

The last kiss. Quite a good film with a few mild sex scenes. Was about a man (Zac Braff) who knew what was going to happen in his life next. He felt his life was all planned out for him. He then met the beautiful (Rachel Bilson) at a wedding! He thought he was missing something from his life.. something not predictable. He then went on to cheat on his pregnant girlfriend with Rachel Bilson.... only to realise that his pregnant girlfriend is the one he really wants. He then does all what he can to win her back.. he sat outside his pregnant girlfriend's front porch for days on end.. slept outside.. until finally.. his pregnant girlfriend let him back in :) The End.

A rom comish film worth the watch

Just simple old children's fairytales or ones that are a little twisted like Roald Dahl's.

John Connolly wrote a great adult novel that incorporated children's fairytales into it's narrative. I loved it.

I kind of thought it was horrendous but you two being Irish would know better.. There is someone who did a really good Scottish accent recently in a film but I can't remember who. (i can't seem to remember anything today.. don't know what's wrong with me!!)

Tell us the good Scottish accents Happy, cuz I'm afraid I'll mention some that you despise!

Well Christopher Lambert's attempt has to be the worst, right?

What was Neeson's like in Rob Roy, or Gibson's in Braveheart?

Well, in my opinion Mel's wasn't too bad (there were obviously a few words where you could hear a hint of something else) but overall he was pretty good.

I can't remember too much about Rob Roy but I'm pretty sure Neeson more or less spoke with an Irish accent with a wee bit of Scottish through it..

Did DiCaprio not have a p!ss poor Irish accent in Gangs of New York?

Yeah, I could hear Neeson's Irish accent coming through alright, but sure they're not too dissimilar so he could get away with it.

Eh, who else?

Johnny Lee Miller's in Trainspotting? He's English really, right?

Brad Pitt in The Devils own was fairly brutal too, although I thought he did well with the Traveler accent in Snatch. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in far and Away.............awful

Yes, it was a put on Irish accent but not a very good one (IMO anyway) I would have actually expected more from him!

Far and Away is brutal stuff Happy. Every Irish cliche is just flung at you. Still though, I can understand why people would find it entertaining.

Rec part 2.

Was a suprise good sequel with some good moments to it. Myabe not as good as the first movie, but still a decent film.

The ending was good and a bit of a cliffhanger, so hopefully a thrid one is being made.

4/5

Coraline

8/10 really liked it, could've been a bit better I thought but it was a good adaption of the book.
