Newport County 0-1 St. Albans (pen). Worst game I have ever seen. Holdsworth has to go, the club is a laughing stock, we're 3rd from bottom.
How long has Holdsworth been your manager?

Since this summer. It's our first FA Cup game next weekend so it's a must win.
It's a difficult one with him only joining this summer but if he's really out of his depth as manager then you're best served changing things now.Another new manager will obviously need a bit of time to turn things around and make his own signings, so it's best you don't wait too long.

1-0 Utd at half time. Quite a good game so far, and from the point of a Liverpool fan I'm happy with how it's going, Utd will gain on us but Chelsea wont break away at the top of the table.

Not many goals so far. The Newcastle and Tottenham game has been boring, both sides seem very weak and aren't trying hard enough!
Made hard work of things tonight but still got a 2-1 win.Grays look a decent side but just don't really have any end product, Ishmael Welsh ran rings around Albrighton but all his crosses were just utter rubbish.Chris Day was equal to pretty much everything else that they threw at him.How nice it is to have a goalkeeper you can rely on.
Good to see Mitchell Cole back on form and scoring the two goals. He's had awful luck with injuries for about a year now but he looks to be back to his best now and he's going to cause most defences in this league problems with his pace and skill.Shame about Boylan getting injured, he's been linking up really well with Morison over the last few games and scored a couple of goals.Gary Mills was totally anonymous, this was the trouble we had early on in the season but thankfully John Martin returned to our side, just hope Mills don't get back into the team again.Anthony Thomas really should have made certain of the result at the end but he's pretty low on confidence right now, if that had been in pre-season I'm sure he'd have scored.
Overall a scrappy win but I'm very pleased with a fourth win in a row and that moves us up to 11th in the table, considering our piss poor start that's good going.

Yeah, your report is about right, the golakeeper was easily the MOM.
A poor first half had everyone laughing at my 7-6 prediction, untill 3 hit the net inside 5 mins early in the second half, for a minute I thought I was going to get a score RIGHT!!!!
Alas that soon passed ...lol
A decent crowd of 791, 62 making the 53 mile trip from Stevenage to a lovely ground, imagine having your own flat overlook your fave footy team
As for my friends "boy friend" he lasted 30 mins before Fabian (she must be serious) hobbled off with a thigh and groin injury (shes unlucky too) lol
It was an unlucky night for Grays defenders as Fab's replacement was also replaced after just 23 mins of him being on the pitch when he collided with the post trying to prevent the winning goal, his shins looked very badly cut.
Over all we had a great night although very cold, I have the sniffles now and been in bed all morning, but it was worth it.
Its always great to see true football fans watching there team at this level when so many just jump on any Man Utd or Chelsea bandwagon :conf2:
This was the complete opposite and I had a fantastic time, and a very nice meal afterwards with a chat with a Mr Henry from Stevenage  that made it a lot easier in the crowd when cheering on Boro, I said Ronny Henry was my long lost brother ..LOL

I thought of you as soon as the goals started flying in at the beginning of the 2nd half lol.Surely the prediction wasn't going to come true but things settled down and of course having a very good goalkeeper helped a massive amount.
Crowd was a bit higher than I expected, Grays normally only get about 750 and with it being a Thursday night and on tele, so it was good considering those factors.Stevenage fans sounded in good voice, found it funny watching some of the young lads running about after we scored.
Fabian's a good player, used to play at a much higher level with Ipswich, shame about the injury but lucky for us as their defence seemed to fall apart without him.
Glad you had a nice time bar the cold causing the sniffles and thanks for cheering on Boro .You'll have to come to the next game between Grays and Borough and meet up with Ronny again

Now thats not a bad idea, I thought Stevange was like miles away (i'm geographically challenged lol) but its only Hertfordshire, no more that 50 mile away or so.
It was the matchday proggrame that made the penny drop when it told of the distance between the clubs Grays and Boro just 53 miles, well according to our sat nav we travelled from Surrey to Grays in 34 miles.
Now I know its closer I will be going again to see Ronny and the boys..lol, I'm sure they'll remember me:wink::joker:

Lol. Well if this referee keeps acting like an ass then half of them will be seft off by full time. It's been a good game so far though, too bad we haven't taken advantage of the percentage we've had. And we need to get rid of Dossena in January, worst player out there today.
What's going on with Robbie Keane? Looks nothing like the player of the last few years.

Luton aren't that bad, they would be around the same place as you in the table but for the points deductions.
2-0 win for us against Salisbury. We could and should have won by more but Morison was uncharacteristically wasteful in front of goal.Still not sure we have what it takes to get in the play-offs this year, 16 games in and the manager's still not settled on his best team yet.

REINA SPURRED ON BY FATHER'S PRESENCE
Pepe Reina admits he will have an extra motivation to perform well when Liverpool face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League tonight.
The Reds stopper's primary goal is to help Rafael Benitez's side pick up the three points that would go some way to booking Liverpool's place in the knockout stage of the competition.

But while victory is high on his agenda, there is another reason why Reina is keen to impress in the Spanish capital.

It is one that stems from the fact that his father Miguel - himself a former Atletico goalkeeper - will be making a rare appearance in the stands at the Vicente Calderon to watch his son in action.

"It's not usual for him to come to games as he gets very nervous and it's better for his health if he stays at home," Reina told reporters at the pre-match press conference.

"But this place [Atletico] feels like home to him and as it's not too far from where he lives, it's great that he is going to be here. He was a goalkeeper so he knows exactly the kind of things I am going through during a game."

Both sides head into the match having picked up maximum points from their opening two Group D matches.

But while Liverpool have continued that form in the domestic league, it has been a different story for Atletico who have lost their last three in La Liga.

It is statistic that has little relevance to Reina who is convinced Javier Aguirre's men will provide the Reds with their toughest contest to-date in Europe.

"It's a big test against a big club that are doing the right things, mainly in the Champions League, so it's going to be a great game," he said.

"Both teams are in a great position in the competition and maybe if we win we have almost done the first job and can be more focused on the league.

"I don't think we are favourites. Atletico are playing at home and must take the initiative.

"I didn't do so well on this ground in La Liga. We had a final of the Intertoto cup that was a bit better, but it's always a difficult stadium to play in.

"It's always a nice atmosphere and as a footballer you always want to play in a stadium like this."

Reports in Spain ahead of the clash have suggested Atletico's star striker, Sergio Aguero, will be rested for the visit of the Reds.

It is something many observers feel would be a huge boost for Liverpool - but not Reina, who feels the hosts have enough talent at their disposal to cause problems no matter who starts for them.

"He's a fantastic player but I can see that Atletico are not only Aguero," he said. "They also have very good players like Sinama Pongolle and Forlan. I always prefer to play against the best players."

The Reds go into the clash with the Atletico without one of their own best players, with Fernando Torres ruled out of the squad that made the trip to Madrid through injury.

Reina admits it was a frustrating moment for the Reds number nine when he realised he would be unable to make an emotional return to Madrid, but he is already set his sights on a reunion when the two sides lock horns at Anfield on November 4.

"He told us to be lucky," he said when asked if Torres had given a meesage to the squad ahead of the match. "It was an important game for him but I think in the second match in Liverpool he will be with us."

Reina also revealed that the Reds' recent knack for turning possible defeat into victory has instilled a strong belief in the squad.

"It's always been the character of our team to never give up," he said.

"It's a good thing but we must improve so that we are not always falling behind.

"We have already turned around five results and it's a positive for us. What is sure is that the mentality of the team is strong and that's important."

Athletico aren't as strong as I was expecting, if they don't change in the second half then it will be an easy 3-0. Expect to see Kuyt & Babel in the second half, prefferably Babel.
I thought Athletico were a really good side going forward and with our defence not being that strong at the moment, I expected them to pose us problems but it just isn't happening.

Rafael Benitez reflected on Liverpool's Champions League draw with Atletico Madrid and admitted he felt it was two points dropped.
The Reds boss was disappointed to see his side concede an equaliser seven minutes from time after Robbie Keane had given them a first-half lead and believes they did not get the reward that their performance deserved.

"We had control of the game in the first half and part of the second," he told reporters at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

"I'm disappointed because we had chances to kill the game. It's a problem when you have a situation on 83 minutes and you make a mistake. You pay for it.

"For me we had plenty of situations in and around the box and should have made more of them. The entrance of Aguero gave more depth to their play and we defended worse.

"If you'd said to me before game that we'd have seven points at the end of it then it would be good. But after leading until the 83rd minute, and when you consider the chances we had, then I think we have lost two points."

Benitez saw his side surrender the advantage in the second-half after Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and goalscorer Robbie Keane were all substituted with knocks.

The Reds boss admitted it was not his intention to withdraw the trio and is hopeful that the precautionary measure will ensure the players are fit for Chelsea on Sunday.

"The three players had some problems," he said. "Keane and Gerrard and Alonso were tired, so we were trying to use players with fresh legs. We were trying to protect all of them by substituting them.

"I don't think they are serious. We will have to wait and see tomorrow.

"It was a little bit of a muscle problem for Robbie. Gerrard is okay. He was really tired and Alonso has a knock on his knee.

"We need to check with Keane. He will see the doctor."

Benitez was also keen to quash any suggestions the Reds missed Fernando Torres and felt it was pointless to speculate whether he would have made an impact against his former club.

"No, I think it wasn't the case," he added, when asked if Torres' absence had cost the Reds victory. "Obviously he's a special player and it could have been a different match. But he was unavailable so it doesn't matter."

Can't wait for the Chelsea game, would have loved to have had Torres fit for it though.

QPR boss Iain Dowie has been sacked today after just 15 games in charge.
The 43-year-old, who took the reins from Luigi de Canio when he left in May, leaves the squad ninth in the table.
Veteran winger Gareth Ainsworth has been placed in caretaker charge ahead of Saturday’s trip to Reading.
A club statement read: “The board of Queens Park Rangers Football Club has terminated the contract of manager Iain Dowie with immediate effect.”
Dowie took charge of just 15 games in all competitions - 12 in the Coca-Cola Championship season - exactly the same number as during his ill-fated spell at Charlton two years ago.
The former Northern Ireland striker led Rangers into the last 16 of the Carling Cup, where they are set to face a trip to Manchester United after knocking out Aston Villa in the third round.
His last game in charge was a goalless draw at Swansea on Tuesday night, where the opposition played for more than an hour with defender Alan Tate in goal.
Rangers were among the pre-season promotion favourites, bankrolled as they are by Formula One bosses Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone and Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal.
But their only victory in their last six games was a nervy 2-1 success over bottom side Nottingham Forest.
Dowie was also reported to have clashed with Briatore over the club’s transfer policy earlier this season, with the likes of 34-year-old ex-Italy midfielder Damiano Tommasi brought in on a one-year contract but yet to make an appearance.
Briatore’s contacts are also thought to have secured the signings of Daniel Parejo, on loan from Real Madrid, and Emmanuel Ledesma from Fiorentina, but neither have been in the starting line-up recently.
Former Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini has already been linked with the role.

We drew 2-2 with Horsham in the FA Cup, terrible performance from us.The only tactic seemed to be just to boot it forward and hope one of the strikers got on the end of it, might aswell have not even had a midfield out.
I thought Horsham's number 7, Jacob Mingle looked a good player, far better than any of our midfidlers today

Tottenham Hotspur have sacked coach Juande Ramos, along with sporting director Damien Comolli.
Spurs have also parted company with first team coaches Gus Poyet and Marcos Alvarez, following the team's long string of poor results.
The club also confirmed that Portsmouth have agreed to allow Harry Redknapp to talk to Tottenham about the vacancy.
Backroom staff-members Clive Allen and Alex Inglethorpe will take charge of Sunday's match against Bolton.
The club confirmed the clear-out in a statement on their website.
Spurs are bottom of the Premier League after taking just two points from their opening eight matches this season.
Ramos' last game in charge was Thursday's defeat to Udinese in the Uefa Cup.

Maradona 'set to coach Argentina'
Argentina legend Diego Maradona could be set for a sensational return to football after claiming he has been offered the role of national coach.
The 1986 World Cup-winning skipper held talks with the Argentina Football Association (AFA) on Tuesday and is set to continue discussions on Wednesday.
The 47-year-old said: "The offer attracted me a lot. As soon as it is confirmed I will start working."
Maradona has had only two brief spells as a coach in Argentina.
If Maradona does take over he will succeed Alfio Basile, who resigned earlier this month after a World Cup qualifying defeat to Chile.
He was quoted as saying: "The idea is to start working immediately after the official announcement with the players who are in Argentina and then take the first plane to talk to the ones in Europe."
BBC Sport's South American football reporter Tim Vickery said: "This is all coming from Maradona.
"There is no official word from the AFA yet so it's still early days. But the tide seems to be blowing in his direction.
 606: DEBATE
Sure he's a footballing legend but he doesn't have anywhere near the experience to manage one of the top international sides in the world
renoog
"He's a religious icon over in Argentina and is a very dangerous force to leave out."
Widely regarded as one of the best players in the history of the sport, Maradona is an iconic figure in Argentina after a remarkable 21-year playing career in which he hit new heights of brilliance on the field and plumbed depths of despair away from the action.
After making his professional debut as a 16-year-old for Argentinos Juniors, he went on to play for his beloved Boca Juniors before spells in Europe with Barcelona, Napoli and Sevilla.
Maradona's unique skills with the ball at his feet made him a superstar, and he is idolised by Napoli fans for almost single-handedly winning the Serie A title and the Uefa Cup for the unfashionable club.
But his most memorable achievements came with the national side - the 1986 World Cup tournament becoming synonymous with his name.
 DIEGO MARADONA FACTFILE

Born: 30 October 1960, Buenos Aires
Clubs: Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla, Newell's Old Boys
International debut: 27 February 1977 (aged 16)
International career: 91 caps, 34 goals
Major honours: 1981 Argentina title; 1983 Cope del Rey; 1986 World Cup; 1987 Serie A title; 1987 Copa Italia; 1989 Uefa Cup; 1990 Serie A title
Maradona captained Argentina to a famous triumph, playing every minute of the tournament and scoring five goals, including two against England in the quarter-final which will live forever in football folklore.
His first goal of the 2-1 win came courtesy of an outrageous handball which he later described as "the hand of God"; but the second is said by many to be the best goal ever scored as he danced past five England players before poking the ball past Peter Shilton.
But Maradona's life away from football has been anything but straightforward, with a long-running addiction to cocaine undermining his genius.
The second failed drugs of his career saw him sent home from the 1994 World Cup in disgrace, and since retiring at the age of 37, Maradona has suffered numerous health problems.
Battles with his drug addiction, alcoholism and obesity saw him suffer a heart attack in 2004 which put him in intensive care, while a later stomach-stapling operation saw him lose 30kg (66 lbs) of excess weight.
Maradona is a virtual novice in coaching terms, with just short spells with Argentine clubs Deportivo Mandiyu and Racing Club in the 1990s on his CV.
But with his health largely restored, Maradona now looks set to take the reins as coach of the national team.
Carlos Bilardo, who coached the winning side in 1986, was involved in the talks with AFA president Julio Grondona and is likely to be part of Maradona's coaching set-up.
Pedro Troglio, who coaches Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno, has also been linked with a role.
Noray Nakis, the president of the AFA selection commission, has already stated his wish, saying: "I'd like Maradona to be the next coach."
Maradona was thought to be on a shortlist with former Boca Juniors coach Carlos Bianchi, San Lorenzo coach Miguel Angel Russo and Sergio Batista, who took the Under-23 squad to Olympic gold in Beijing in August.
If he weren't such a great player there's no way in the world he would even be considered for such a role.

Lionel Messi believes Liverpool are favourites to win the Champions League this season.
The Reds are currently top of their group in the competition and the Barcelona forward tipped them to lift the trophy for the sixth time in their history.

"If I had to choose anyone to win the Champions League then it would be Liverpool," said Messi, who has turned out for Argentina 33 times.

"They have great players like Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt and Javier Mascherano, and they are difficult to play against.

"Maybe there are teams that play better football but I can see them getting to the final in Rome."

Oh, and it was good to see Ngog tonight, I've been playing him in the Carling Cup and FA Cup on Fifa 09 :joker: Hopefully he'll end up scoring as many goals as he does on the game.
Should have been a win, cannot believe the amount of chances missed. The ref was bloody awful.

Good first half at the emirates, Utd should have scored about 3 times, and so should have Arsenal. Still think it will end 2-2.

2-0
I suppose playing against another side top side has brought out the best in Arsenal, they just struggle against overly physical sides.
FT:Leicester City 3-0 Stevenage Borough. No complaints with the result really, just got outplayed by a better side, which I expected to be honest.First twenty minutes we played really well and Morison should have put us a goal up but once they scored it was pretty much one way traffic. We did have a good spell in the last 10 minutes of the game and once again Morison missed a good chance.

Rafa Benitez today warned Liverpool's Premier League rivals that Fernando Torres could return stronger than ever after an enforced rest.
The one silver lining of a hamstring tear sustained on international duty is that Torres has benefitted from the kind of break he didn't get in the summer due to Euro 2008.

Benitez said: "Having him back fitter and stronger than before can have a massive effect on this team and help Liverpool a great deal.

"It is true we were worried about his fitness when he came back after the summer and after such a long season he was not at his best level.

"But now he has had a rest and we are hoping to bring him back ready to play to his true level.

"We have managed to win in his absence and keep pace in the league and now we have Torres back fitter and stronger, so it has been a good period for us."

El Nino could make his first start since October 5 at White Hart Lane in the fourth round of the Carling Cup tonight in a bid to gain match fitness.

Benitez added: "Torres back means we can change players and give them the rest they need. It will help them all get to the top level they are capable of.

"When you consider that we are getting good results without our players being at their top level, the return of Torres at his best can have a big impact."

Yeah it was planned, too. They were sending out leaflets to get more people to do it. Apparently there was meant to be a boycott and when the minutes silence started, people were meant to get up and leave.
Thing is... most (obviously) Celtic fans are Scottish - what about if their family members fight in the war? Also, there's Irish battalions. It just doesn't make sense.
Obviously it's just a small number of fans, but still

Good decision by the referee at the end of the first half there. Comfortable game so far, but that just showed that nobody is safe with a 1 goal lead.
