Well currently it's 2-2 in the game between Tranmere and Southend and we are only 40 minutes into the game..... looks like another high scoring nail biter.

Come on Southend!

Southend drew 2-2 in the end, and the point was enough to move us from 9th to 8th in the table, so all in all not a bad day given we were playing away. Even if had got all three points we would have been in the same place in the table.

Benayoun to quit Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun has threatened to leave after becoming frustrated at manager Rafa Benitez's policy of using him as a substitute.

The 28-year-old, who joined from West Ham for £5m in 2007, has made just four starts in 11 appearances this season.

Benayoun told Israel's Channel Five TV: "If the situation remains the same over the next few months, I will not want to continue as a Liverpool player.

"I hope it changes as I want to stay and prove myself but it won't be easy."

Benayoun made his name at Israeli side Maccabi Haifa and Spanish outfit Racing Santander before moving to West Ham in 2005.

He switched to Anfield in 2007 and resisted a move away this summer despite interest from Italian side Roma and Dutch giants Ajax. 606: DEABTE
While I symphathise with him I am totally disappointed that he is speaking to the press - he cannot hold the club to ransom

TU

The Israeli international has made 41 appearances for Liverpool but he fears that his playing time will remain restricted following the team's good start to the season.

The Reds are joint top of the Premier League with Chelsea, having lost only once, picking up 32 points out of a possible 39.

"The fact that I have spent so much time on the bench, while there has been a winning formula on the pitch, tells you everything," added Benayoun.

"I know I'm at one of the biggest clubs in the world, and that there are many good players like Ryan Babel and Jermaine Pennant who sometimes aren't even in the squad, but it's not much fun sitting on the bench all the time.

"I always wanted to prove myself good enough for Liverpool, and I thought I did well last season to contribute so many goals and assists.

"But there seems to be more competition for places this time, and if I continue to be on the sidelines, I would not want to stay, even though it is Liverpool.

"Maybe I will have to accept that and start learning another language, such as Italian or French or even Russian."

--------------------------------

I don't think it will really make a difference to us if he left, we'd probably get a few million for him too. He is a good player to have as a back-up though, I mean he was West Ham's best player this time two years ago and now he's struggling to even make the bench here, so it just shows how strong we are now.

The way our clubs are playing at the moment (espiecially there consitancy) I think all 4 will struggle to get through the next round.
They are going to need every bit of that dominant history in Europe mentality that I hope all of them find because I'd much rather wath an all british final again like last year.

But, they are incredibly big games, I'm looking forward to them

Liverpool vs Real Madrid will be good, I think we will knock them out though, they're not the team they used to be and we are a completely different team in europe. We overcome Barcelona when they were at their best too, so Real shouldn't be a problem.

I can see Utd and Chelsea both being eliminated by Juventus and Inter; Arsenal shouldn't have any problems beating Roma.

Arsenal got the good end of the stick. At the moment, Liverpool did too, cos Real aren't playing up to their usual standard. But it's touch and go, cos obviously both teams are good.

Utd and Chelsea have quite a challenge but it's one of those games where you can viably seeing either team win.

Martin Laursen (Aston Villa)

Glen Johnson (Portsmouth)

Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd)

Jamie Carragher (Liverpool)

Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd)

Gael Clichy (Arsenal)

Were all nominated for Sky Sports Defender of the year, last I saw Carragher has over 50% of the votes, not sure if voting has closed yet.

I think Carra and Terry are definitely the best, but Terry has been getting too many cards this season.

The January transfer window opens on New Year's Day, giving clubs their first opportunity to buy or sell players since the end of August.

Several deals have already been agreed, including Portsmouth midfielder Lassana Diarra's £20m move to Real Madrid, and can be rubber-stamped from 1 January.

This year's window has been extended until 1700 GMT on Monday 2 February because 31 January falls on a Saturday.

A record £150m was spent by Premier League clubs in January 2008.

But that figure could be eclipsed this season if, as expected, Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is given major funds to strengthen his squad by his club's billionaire Arab owners.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has underlined his desire to sign new players, and has already had a bid of around £6m rejected for West Ham striker Craig Bellamy.

But teams such as Manchester United and Chelsea insist they will not be buying and others, like Pompey and the Hammers, may be forced to sell some of their stars to balance the books.

Wigan are keen to keep hold of England striker Emile Heskey, who is out of contract in the summer, while Newcastle striker Michael Owen and his Magpies team-mate goalkeeper Shay Given are also in demand.

City sign Bridge:

Manchester City have agreed an undisclosed fee with Premier League rivals Chelsea for England defender Wayne Bridge.

City boss Mark Hughes confirmed the deal on Friday and it is thought the club could pay up to £12m for Bridge.

Utd sign Serbian duo:

Manchester United have completed the signings of Serbian pair Zoran Tosic and Adem Ljajic from Partizan Belgrade.

Left-winger Tosic and midfielder Ljajic arrive at Old Trafford for an undisclosed fee although reports claim a combined figure of £16.3m.

Haven't Man City already proved that money doesn't buy success. They have had a shocking first half to the season... even losing 3-0 to Notts Forrest last week?

I think if you are going to pump that much money and world class players into a team, you need a decent manager. I really don't think Mark Hughes has the experience or skills to take Man City to the top. I can see him being fired if they don't have a decent finish this league.

Keane & Torres both start:

Fernando Torres and Robbie Keane will lead Liverpool's attack against Everton this evening as El Nino starts his first game since November. Listen to live commentary on our Match Night Live show from 7.30pm GMT.
Javier Mascherano misses out as Rafa Benitez selects an attacking side designed to regain top spot from Manchester United.

The Reds XI in full is: Reina, Carragher, Hyypia, Skrtel, Aurelio, Alonso, Gerrard, Riera, Kuyt, Keane, Torres. Subs: Cavalieri, Dossena, Arbeloa, Mascherano, Babel, Lucas, Benayoun.
