Game of Thrones
Good news for the realm. Game of Thrones is nominated for Best Drama Series and Peter Dinklage is nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in the Critics' Choice Awards.
Wouldn't be surprised if he won the Emmy and Golden Globe again this year aswell

Even though Tyrion is my favourite character and he is by far the best actor on the show imo, im still surprised at the likes of Lena Headey and Jack Gleeson not being nominated.

Yeah Lena Headey should definitely get some nominations after this season

Early Emmy submissions, will probably announce some more soon:
Best Actor/Actress: None. Which is interesting, to say the least. Is it because the ensemble cast suggests there’s no single lead actor? That’s fair enough, but it does seem strange to not have Dinklage here when he’s now heading the credits…
Best Supporting Actor: Peter Dinklage (Tyrion), of course, joined by Alfie Allen (Theon), Kit Harington (Jon), and Richard Madden (Robb). As Gold Derby notes, eligible performers can submit on their own, so nothing is stopping Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime), Stephen Dillane (Stannis), Liam Cunningham (Davos), or others for submitting themselves.
Best Supporting Actress: Maisie Williams (Arya), Michelle Fairley (Catelyn), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys), Lena Headey (Cersei), and Sophie Turner (Sansa).
Best Drama: Game of Thrones joins Boardwalk Empire, Luck, and True Blood.
Really want Maisie Williams to win the female award but think Lena Headey might get it.

Game of Thrones Season 3 will start production in early July. Locations include Belfast, Northern Ireland, Croatia, Iceland and Morocco.
This is my plan for July, tv show wise. All my friends (many of whom loved LOST) have bigged it up, so I have to give it a shot!

Do you get to control the fighting yourself or is it one of those pointless ones where you circle the character you are fighting and choose an action?
Don't be silly they are the best kind.. but on this i think you just do the fighting yourself still have the leveling up system like most RPG's have though

The weird guy from Misfits has been cast, very likely playing Ramsay Snow (Roose Bolton's bastard that they sent to get Winterfell back from Theon), you will all hate him more than you hate Joffrey.
http://i.imgur.com/rYGnq.jpg
Ramsay is cruel, savage and wild, taking delight in torturing others. He is quite fond of the old Bolton custom of flaying their enemies.
Ramsay is a capable manipulator and possesses a low cold cunning, particularly good at thinking on his feet, though less savvy when it comes to long term consequences and intricate politics. Ramsay openly enjoys abusive and sick practices such as having young women stripped naked and released into the Bolton forests, before hunting them with a pack of feral dogs. He gives a quick death to women who give him good sport (after raping them first), then flays their corpses. He likes to name his dogs after the women he enjoys most to "honor" them. The women who don't give him good sport are raped and then flayed alive. All the skins of his kills are brought back with him to the Dreadfort as gruesome trophies. The bodies of the woman are fed to his dogs.

Gary Lightbody from the British band Snow Patrol will be cameoing in Season 3 of Game of Thrones. He has said this is not a large role, so probably more likely to be a featured extra kind of thing. Lightbody and his bandmates have been big fans of the show since it started, frequently Tweeting about it and reccing it on their fan pages. Lightbody got into a mock Twitter-feud with a BBC Radio 1 DJ a couple of months ago after the latter was inadvertantly spoiled on a major plot point before it happened.
He included a picture of himself in costume. A little while ago he also posted a picture of himself hanging out with producers Benioff and Weiss in Belfast.

Tonight the Television Critics Association held its 28th Awards presentation to honor the best of the best in the 2011-2012 TV season. And our favorite fantasy epic, Game of Thrones, came out victorious with the award for Program of the Year. This makes us as happy as finding a litter of direwolf pups.
The critics also honored Showtime's acclaimed freshman drama, Homeland, with two awards for Outstanding New Program as well as giving Claire Danes the award for Individual Achievement in Drama for her portrayal of bipolar CIA agent, Carrie Mathison. Plus, critical darlings Breaking Bad, Louie and Downton Abbey were among the top picks.

the whole Renly/Loras/Margery thing is a bit weird, I know it was kind of implied in the book that Loras and Renly might have been more than friends but it's a bit full on actually watching it, with Margery not caring either. Think they changed Asha's name so people wouldn't get her confused with Osha. The Stannis/Melisandre thing is hinted at in ADWD
There's a line in her chapter that says something like "since Stannis had left she had not had much need for her bed

I guess. It's never really said that Stannis was aware of what she was planning on creating,
but I'm guessing he really does want a son from her to be his proper heir, as I don't think Shireen (or any female) can inherit the throne, they would have to take it for themselves by taking out any male relative ... assuming Stannis wins the throne for himself in the first place
And we never find out what happens to the shadow after it kills Renly... whether it just disapears or if it's still available to be called on again later in the story (i'm guessing not)
It's going to be called on again

In the book the shadow was used twice though, once for Renly and once for Edric Storms uncle(I think uncle anyway)
Watched 3 more episodes tonight, they've changed alot. Arya being Tywin Lanisters cup bearer rather than Roose Bolton and Littlefinger popping up everywhere. Also Meera and Jojen haven't appeared yet and Osha and Bran and Rickon have just escaped from Theon. Meera and Jojen were there in the book when they escaped.

They pushed Jojen + Meera back to season 3, not sure why, but they've been cast now anyway.
Littlefinger popping up everywhere was annoying but I suppose he doesn't have that much to do until the second part of ASOS onwards so they've got to give the actor something to work with. Arya as Tywin's cupbearer probably brings up some of the best moments of the second seasno so no problems with that, I'm guessing they're keeping Roose with Robb to make what happens more shocking.
Wait until you see what they do with Jon's story, they completely ruin Qhorin Halfhand and just make Jon's whole story about Ygritte... Was almost as painful as all of Daenerys chapters in the book :pipe:

Yeah, I suppose having Arya with Tywin and Roose with Rob will make it easier for people to follow what's going on. I particularly liked the bit they added about Arya nearly getting caught by Tywin when the guard caught her with the letter she stole and she gets jaqen h'ghar to kill him just as gets to Tywins door. Jaqen is a cool character actually, I wish he was in it for longer.
Qhorin Halfhand and Ygritte just appeared in episode 6 that I watched last night, already they're starting to change what happened completely. She escaped when he was supposed to kill her instead of Jon letting her go and I presume Halfhand isn't going to make Jon kill him and act as a spy now since Jon seems to be lost

Amazing news just in
The most interesting report comes from two WiC sources, who confirm that Noah Taylor has been cast as Locke. The character Locke is described as filling a similar function to the mercenary leader Vargo Hoat in the A Song of Ice and Fire books, but does not have Vargo’s memorable lisp. Locke will play a key role in Jaime and Brienne’s story next season.

Had a feeling she'd have been alive after her cliffhanger chapter in AFFC, learned after the Bran and Rickon thing never to believe anyone is dead unless you actually read the death scene (same with Davos in AFFC aswell).
Where are you up to with Stannis' storyline now?

Last Stannis chapter I read, they were completely snowed in some village, alot of his men were dead or wounded. Then the last Theon chapter was when he jumped the wall at Winterfell with Jeyne

Well I did it the opposite way round, read the books then watched the TV Show but I don't think it would spoil the books, I think you'll find that you'll get more of an understanding of the characters and where they come from, what their relationships with other characters are etc. plus you get extra bits that the TV Show hadn't time to put in

The next series of Game Of Thrones will be "super-sized", say showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss.
Season three of the HBO fantasy show will feature ten individual episodes - the same number as seasons one and two - but each episode will last slightly longer.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Weiss explained: "There's almost another full episode's worth of extra minutes spread across the season. One of the great liberties with HBO is we're not forced to come in at a specific time. We can’t be under 50 minutes or over 60, but that gives us a lot of flexibility."
Echoing his partner, Benioff promised a "super-sized season", then added: "Last year we had a lot of 52-minute episodes. This year is a lot of 56, 57."
The pair also revealed that the season finale may run over an hour, prompting Weiss to conclude: "So for people clamouring for another episode, it's in there. It's just been cut into tiny pieces."

Actor Charles Dance has accidentally confirmed that there will be a fourth season of Game Of Thrones.
Season three of the HBO fantasy show is set to begin on March 31 in the US and April 1 in the UK, where it airs on Sky Atlantic. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have previously revealed the new season will feature slightly longer episodes than in the past.
Now Dance, who plays ruthless villain Tywin Lannister in the hit series, has let slip that plans for a fourth season are underway and six scripts have already been written. Speaking at a recent press junket to promote the season two Blu-ray, Dance said: "We're about to start season four aren't we? This year."
Continuing, Dance explained that Game Of Thrones works further ahead than many TV shows, saying: "We get scripts pretty early on - much earlier on than in similar series. Usually you get perhaps one episode and you just have to trust that what's going to come in subsequent episodes is going to be as good as the one you've got. But in this I think there are six scripts already written, and we will probably be able to see them with more than adequate time to prepare before we start shooting."

Will be ages before they actually catch up though.
Season 3 = Half of A Storm of Swords
Season 4 = Half of A Storm of Swords
Season 5 = A Feast for Crows
Season 6 = A Dance with Dragons
Season 7 = Winds of Winter (the one he is currently working on)
Season 8 = The final book
So it will be 2017 by the time they catch up, and they could easily make 3 seasons out of A Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons combined to get an extra year.. No chance he will actually finish the final book though he is supposed to be really unhealthy and is really old

Some things that happen in the first episode, without spoiling too much
Episode starts with Sam being attacked by a Wight/White Walker.
There are some good scenes on Dragonstone with Davos/Stannis/Melisandre.
Robb/Cat/Talisa/Roose all arrive at Harrenhal (the castle Tywin was at last season with Arya as his cupbearer).
Jon finally meets the King Beyond the Wall.
There are pretty important scenes between Tyrion and each one of Bronn/Tywin.
Arya, Bran, Jaime and Brienne don't appear until episode 2.
Episode ends with the return of a character from Season 1.
And 3 clips (last one is from episode 2)

not sure where you got she owned the first episode from Smithy :suspect: she was in the last ten minutes if that. Most of it was Cersei tbh.
I'm at the stage now where I don't really care what happens in the North  above the wall anyway. the southern politics (and yes daenerys and her dragons) are far more interesting.

I didn't say she owned it, just that she was in it more than normal  in the first season/half of the second season, it was like one scene an episode

Just finished the ep. I loved the giant near the start, he looked pretty real. The ep was good throughout but I wanted way more time spent with each story.

Felt like they tried to fit in too many of the characters. The Davos/Stannis, Daenerys, Tyrion/Cersei/Margaery stuff was all fine but the Robb and Jon parts felt like they either needed an extra scene or two added or should have been moved to the next episode

Just finished season 1. I love it. Really intrigued how fantasy it gets with how it ends. Was surprised with how much it was lacking in the fantasy-side of things in the first season, not that it took away from it.
You have a lot to look forward to.
Wtf?

With more than 4.2 million downloads per episode, Game of Thrones was the most pirated television show of 2012. However, less than 24 hours after the HBO epic fantasy show’s third season premiere, TorrentFreak reported the episode had already been downloaded more than a million times, with one torrent having more than 160,000 simultaneous connections. No torrent has had that many connections since September 23rd, 2008, when more than 144,000 people downloaded the third season premiere of Heroes at once.
TorrentFreak also broke down the locations of the pirates, finding that Australia had the highest piracy rate while London had the highest concentration of pirates amongst major cities. Despite the massive amounts of downloads, the television premiere saw 6.7 million US viewers, despite airing against The Walking Dead’s season finale.
amazing.

I will be sorely disappointed if they do not.

Don't think they will, Emilia Clarke has a no-nudity clause now apparantely
And on Ros
The main theory is that she'll be caught betraying Littlefinger and sent to that sick and twisted Lord he warned her about late in season 2 (who'll end up being Ramsay/Roose), and end up taking the place of that girl who befriends Theon and gets killed by Ramsay's dogs trying to escape

Book 3 is amazing, even if the show is half as good it will be one of the greatest seasons of television ever
