Finished season 2. Think I slightly prefer season 1 as it felt a little more focused, but I loved 2 regardless.
Now for my least favourite part of catching up with ongoing TV shows; having to wait a week for each episode after marathon'ing up to this point...

loved episode 2, liked the parallels between the traveling trios and it felt more like each part of the story was being told than episode 1.
Jaime and Brienne's duel  can add them both to characters I love tbh
Margaery seems to get hotter each episode

Olenna's a fierce bitch.
I liked the other new characters too, the Brothers without Borders stuff seems interesting as does the Bran plot. It was just a strong overall episode. The dynamic between Brienne and Jaime is amazing and I loved their fight at the end.

Going in for episode 2 right now. Wife: "hey, let's try keeping them all in a folder and then watching them all in one go." Me: "How about you heading out to work and me finishing up this episode in peace?"
;)
Seriously, though, she stopped watching after one of the beheadings, so it's been free "reign." Time to watch.
Will the Battle of Castle Black be in this Season? from what i have read that is likely to be one of my favorite TV Show moments ever if it's done right
It was good to have an episode without Daenerys as well even if that meant there was no Jorah with his great one liners, did they make the torture scene with Theon less brutal then it is in the book?

10 Hints about Episode 3, "Walk of Punishment"
1. We finally get to see Catelyn's home, Riverrun.
2. More new characters! These are good ones.
3. "Are we finally going to war, old friend?"
4. This episode contains what has to be the most pointless sex scene to date.
5. “You're a long way from home, and winter is coming."
6. Tyrion gets a new role, but he's not exactly thrilled with it.
7. This hunt is unlike anything you've ever seen.
8. One character departs on a journey.
9. “It often comforts me to know that even in war's darkest days, in most parts of the world absolutely nothing is happening.”
10. Don't miss the ending. Just don't... unless you’re squeamish. It’s not for the faint of heart.

I'm not too sure, I think that one will be in Episode 5 though. I think it'll be either
Robb and Talisa again (there's a clip of another sex scene between them in one of the trailers), or just a random ***** in one of Littlefingers brothels. Can't think of any other main characters that have a sex scene coming up

10 Hints for Episode 4:
1. Three standout scenes from the book go down. One only begins, one is about what we expected, and one is everything we could have wanted and more.
2. “One misfortune, and you're giving up?”
3. One set of characters who have been in all three episodes so far are MIA this week.
4. "I distrust you because you're not as smart as you think you are."
5. There's an added scene between two non-Book POV characters that is pure gold.
6. “He would see this country burn if he could be king of the ashes.”
7. "We mothers do what we can to keep our sons from the grave. But they do seem to yearn for it."
8. The Spider is back, and better than ever.
9. “I made a choice, and I chose wrong.”
10. Many people's suspicions about one mysterious character seem to be confirmed.

Yeah he was lying about that, pretending to be one of Karstarks sons (the guy whos head Robb chopped off last week), but we know that his two sons got killed and that's why he betrayed Robb in the first place.

He's Roose Bolton's bastard son, who was sent to retake Winterfell from Theon and take him hostage. But as we can obviously see now he has his own agenda.

Finished the latest ep, I thought the torture scene was a bit graphic. Other than that I enjoyed it, however it could have done with an extra action scene.

It was alright, but I know this Season is going to great so I don't mind waiting for the exciting episodes
A lot of the big moments have already been though
- Dany conquering Astapor
- Lord Commanders death and all the fighting at Crasters
- Jaime's hand getting cut off
- Jon climbing the Wall (actually thought this was a lot better in the show)
- The Hound vs Beric
- The Barristan reveal (although that was really different)
- Karstark's beheading
Still a lot to come, like:
- Jaime & Brienne vs the bear
- The 3 weddings
- Jon escaping from the Wildlings
- The battle of Castle Black, and then Stannis's battle just North of the Wall
- The Hound & Arya vs Gregor's men
- Sansa escaping King's Landing
- Tyrion and his crossbow
- Arya leaving to Braavos
- Daenerys sacking Yunkai, moving on to Meereen
- Daenerys exiling Jorah
- Lady Stoneheart
- Balon's death
- Jaime getting back to King's Landing and sorting it out
- Oberyn vs the Mountain
- Brienne being set free to find Sansa and Arya
- Littlefinger killing Lysa
- Bran meeting up with Sam
At least 80% of those will be next season though.. I think the big moments left for this season are 2 of the weddings (Joffrey's will be early next year), the bear, Jon escaping, Daenerys sacking Yunaki, and possibly Lady Stoneheart, Balon's death, and Bran meeting Sam.
I think if you compare this season to the past 2 up to all of their sixth episodes, then it's probably level with the first and ahead of the second.. Although it'll soon be ahead of the first aswell.
Niamh.
07-05-2013, 01:26 PM
Oh I'm getting excited now that you've listed them all there
The red wedding and Jofferys wedding will be best I think, oh also I'm looking forward to Oberyn V's The Mountain

The ones I'm most looking forward to are
The Red Wedding (but dreading it at the same time), Joffrey's wedding, all the battles at the Wall, and Tyrion and his crossbow.
Lysa's death should be pretty good aswell because everyone will be expecting it to be Sansa that gets thrown out of the moon door

Sounds a bit like you actually, stanning stannis...
Robb has crossed the Simp Mode line though.. it was cringeworthy to watch him in this episode, meeting some untrustworthy ***** and trying to turn her into a Princess is just ridiculous. The Bear scene and the Daenerys and Grazdan meeting were great, Daenerys is a pretty **** character though when you think about it everything she has achieved so far is due to her Dragons she is basically nothing without them, and without Jorah she wouldn't have even made it to Qarth, she has 8,000 strong army and had Gold and Boats given to her just like and she rejects it and makes the most stupidest proposal ever, i will take great in watching the very last episode of the show where Davos slices the necks of her Dragons and Stannis throws her out of the highest tower in Dragonstone when she comes to invade

Here you go :
Timeline, Events of the TV series are seventeen years after Robert's Rebellion instead of fourteen years as in the books. The main reason in adding the two years was to allows the younger characters to be aged-up, while not affecting the timeline too much beyond the immediate past.
The Stark Children Robb and Jon are 17 instead of 15. Bran is 10 instead of 7 and Rickon's age is increased from 3 to 6. Sansa 13 instead of 11 and Arya is 11 instead of 9.
The Royal children are older: Joffrey is 16 instead of 13, Myrcella is 12 instead of 8 and Tommen is 10 instead of 6. Daenerys is 16 instead of 13.

I think Jaime might be becoming one of my favourite characters now. Like him more each episode. Also Tywin slaying Joffrey was a great scene, what a man! Think Osha or Bronn might have taken the episode though.
And how on Earth is Melisandre managing to cross Blackwater Bay without any guards on Kings Landings battlements battering an eyelid. Magic?
The Robb and Talisa scene was awful though, no wonder he can't be taken seriously as a leader, he has far too much time on his hands.

Robb is just chilling in his tent, banging his wife, looking over maps, and coming out with corny chat up lines, yet still manages to win every battle. Very admirable.
No idea about the Melisandre question.. She never left Stannis in the books, and none of this Gendry stuff happened. I guess the only explanation is that hundreds of ships sail across the Blackwater every day, and aslong as they don't actually stop by at the actual City, they don't get checked.
Joelle.
13-05-2013, 11:37 PM
Can't really argue with that
And that makes sense but the timeframe still seems strange since she's gone from Dragonstone to the Riverlands and almost back (without any trouble) when Arya and co. haven't moved since she took Gendry. Seems like centuries ago since they left Harrenhaal.
Locke.
13-05-2013, 11:38 PM
It's probably just a plothole tbh, they just need to hurry up and get her back to Dragonstone for what is going to unfold there in the last few episodes. They should have sent her after Gendry earlier in the season
Niamh.
14-05-2013, 08:51 AM
I suppose they just merged the Gendry and Edric Storms characters which is why Melisandre took Gendry and there's no mention of Edric. I hate the Robb/Talisa love story, they've ruined Robb, book Robb was far better and why did they replace the Jeyne story anyway?

Probably so they didn't have to introduce Jeyne's whole family and all the subplots that come with that... And so they could make it more obvious that she is pregnant, cos that's still not confirmed yet in the books
Niamh.

But they turned him into a love sick wuss in the TV show. In the book he only married her because he slept with her, after he found out that Bran and Rickon had died. More to save her honor than because he actually loved her.
Locke.
14-05-2013, 03:46 PM
They have done the same with Jon Snow though, his relationship with Ygritte has been really overdone, it was nothing like that in the books.
Not really bothered though, I'd rather they just kept Jeyne but aslong as she doesn't end up being a spy, I like Talisa too.

Most of the characters besides a few (Dany, Bronn, Varys) are much better in the books than the show

The Red headed witch woman is called Melisandre. She's a red priestess, her God is called R'Hllor, the God of Light. She's helping Stannis to win the throne as she says that The Lord of Light told her he was Azor Ahai reborn (he was a messiah of the faith)

No Thoros brought back Beric (the guy who fought the hound and lost but came back to life again) The thing about Stannis being that Messiah reborn was a vision Melisandre had. There's a story about who that Messiah was in the book, here's a shortened version :
Azor Ahai was a legendary hero who lived approximately eight thousand years before Aegon's Landing. It is said that during the midst of The Long Night, Azor Ahai rose up and defeated the Others, wielding a sword of fire, called Lightbringer. Some readers believe that Azor Ahai is the same hero as the prince that was promised, while others believe that they come from two distinct prophecies. Azor Ahai and the prince that was promised have this far never been mentioned in the same sentence.

sorry lol, basically The red witch Melisandre believes that Stannis is a reincarnation of a heroic messiah of the Lord of Light (her God) which is why she's helping him
I suppose he is a really good love to hate type character, I'll give you that much, but one thing GoTs isn't short of is baddies
Probably best for you to rewatch it all again after this Season Girth, things might be a bit clearer and make more sense now Niamh has explained it

Stannis is in Dragonstone at the minute, he's only had about 2 or 3 scenes this season, are you getting him mixed up with Beric?

Stannis wasn't brought back to life and she thinks he's Azor Ahai a messiah of her God, we don't really know whether he is or he isn't, I don't think he is but that's just my opinion

The red headed witch was in last weeks ep. I thought she was telling Stannis that she thinks he is the rightful king.
I dunno. I need to watch it all again. I kind of get the Stark and Lannisters and Danerys but its the rest of them that I cant keep track of. I also think the actors who play Robb and Jon Snow look alike so I sometimes cant tell them apart.

She told Gendry that he was the son of a King. Gendry is the guy she bought from the Brothers without Banners because he's Robert Baratheons bastard son (he didn't know he was though) I don't think Stannis was in last nights show but she has told him he was the rightful King in other episodes

I read the first one. It was so similar to the show though that I decided I'd save the books for after the series ends.
So what about the fat baker boy?
6 feet under with your hero the Spice King
Well the baker boy probably had it coming, it is unfortunate that the Spice King seems to have gone down as the forgotten hero of the show though, they did not realise his true potential

Girth, this is Stannis:
http://25.media.tumblr.com/b957b7ddab623647b8a3fd853cee512c/tumblr_mmrb9xlUGd1qmfr3fo1_250.gif
He is the one who attacked King's Landing and was beaten in battle by a dwarf. Something that would never happen to a real King like Robb.
And this is Beric, the guy who gets brought back to life:

Probably just easier to remember him as the guy who wears an eye patch.

Only the first book is the same, the second is massively different, and the third so far has been somewhere in the middle.
Where did you get that Stannis Gif from? :joker: that is from next weeks episode

Good old Olenna
Also spot on about Jojen and Meera what was the point in even casting them. Far too much time spent on Theon, not enough on these, not to mention Varys, Bronn and Tyrion.
And Blackfish should be number 2 tbh
http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/stg.ign.com/2013/05/tumblr_mlgzwpRgyb1r6hizlo1_500.gif
Should have obviously been a top 2 of Kraznys and Edmure

Jojen and Meera are important characters, but mainly in future seasons.
After they split up with Osha & Rickon.

Great episode, most boring character on the show gets his just rewards and saves Stannis 1 less Job

Olenna's bit about the new family tree was hilarious, I love that bitch.
I thought it was a great episode, it was a lot more focused then recent episodes have been. I think I'd rather them focus on fewer characters each episode since it tends to lead to better episodes.

Just watching it now, I love this episode... Arya/the Hound's dialogue, there's more time given to Stannis' lot and I feel I understand them a bit better (I particularly like the mention of their god being visible)... also a glimpse of Joe Dempsie peen... what's not to love?
But I may begin to ship Sansa and Tyrion.
