same old story arsenal always think they are especially being victimised

no, its just that your team is small so you can tell more, teams do the same to every other team their teams are just stronger, you have to deal with it really

its arsenes fault for buying loads of shortarses in

Thats isnt the point at all..

Campbell, Vermaelen
Diaby Song
Bendtner..

People just kick fabregas thats fact.

football would be a terrible game without hard tackles

30stone
06-03-2010, 04:52 PM
Of course it would.

But the fact is you see people make 5 or 6 fouls and not get a yellow.
Then like song and diaby (usually) make 1 tackle or 2 its yellow.

How is that fair?

I dont think teams go really too much differnt with us, i definately think stoke to and sometimes blackburn..

Its the refs when we complain to much about the fouls and the refs give nothing...

I guess it took a leg break to change

I saw that on SSN, was nice of them:).

Glad United won and got the 3 points in a close match against Wolves, really pleased Paul Scholes got his 100th PL goal:cheer2:. Vital win without Rooney too still lots of talent on the pitch so not just a one man team but his absence is always felt regardless.

yeah my bill for setanta just switched to espn

i must say that setanta was far more superior, it had australilian rugby league (which i personally love), and the best boxing fights on the planet, boxers dont come bigger in this day and age than joe calzaghe, and setanta had both his fights, against the 2 legends hopkins and jones jnr.

it's a shame your gonna lose him in the end, but that's the power of money

in the top 3 players in the world, with rooney and messi.

bbfan1991

they're all in front of villa for a start

cant believe how high you rate him, he's never done anything that outstanding that's caught my eye, maybe you've seen something i haven't.
when it come to the big game in the euro final , who scrored the deciding goal? torres, if i wanted a striker to score me a goal i'd want torres before villa.

Well for a start he doesnt play in as good team as drogba.. rooney messi torres or anything..

Hes team arent as good.

Yet he is top goal scorer in la liga..

Villa has scored 17 goals in 22 games in the league this season..

At club level Torres has a goal every 2.16 games. (overall)
At club level villa has a goal every 1.77 games. (overall)

At international level torres has a goal every 3.08 games.
At international level Villa has a goal every 1.48 games.

Why do you people underate him?

I possibly overate him a little but seriously you put him out like hes nothing.. yet hes a awesome scorer..

i'm not having a go at you, i respect every ones opinions.
stats mean nothing to me, it's what happens in the game's that count, the trophy games, the money games,.
i wont say anything bad about villa, to be fair i dont see that much of him, madrid and barcalona seem to be on sky every week, but he hasn't realy caught my eye yet, as setanta said (in a way) the world cup is where a star can shine.

With torres getting 2.

Ohh i also failed to mention the reason torres stood out is because villa was injured in the semi final and didnt play the final in euro.. who knows he could have scored then...

It was his agent.

He was set to join real, barca and chelsea at certain points during the summer ( i kept track of it as i love him as a player ) and his agents ****ed em all up, he apparenlty ripped up the real contract himself.

Claiming they wernt giving him enough money.. villa has fired that agent.. lol!

Hes Fast
Hes Technical
Hes 6 foot 4/5
Hes very well built and strong
He can finish with either foot
He has a wicked free kick.

Claudio Ranieri has admitted he would love William Gallas to come and play for him again at Roma.

Ranieri brought Gallas to the Premier League during his time in charge at Chelsea and has followed his career with interest.

The French defender enjoyed success at Stamford Bridge before moving to Arsenal in 2006 as part of the deal that took Ashley Cole the opposite way.

The 32 year-old has gone through some difficult times with the Gunners, being stripped of the captaincy in November 2008, but remains an important member of the team.

However, he will be out of contract at the end of the season and Arsenal have the policy of offering only a one-year extension to players over 30 years of age.

Reports suggest Roma are monitoring the situation, with officials from the Serie A club already holding talks with the player's advisor Pierre Frelot

And Ranieri has made it clear that a player of Gallas' quality would fit in well at Roma.

"Gallas is a player who has achieved so much in his career," said the manager.

"I signed him when I was in charge at Chelsea and he has done well both for them and Arsenal.

"He is a top-level player and all top players are welcome at Roma."

Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh accepts he faces a massive challenge in moving to Arsenal next season.

Chamakh has agreed a five-year £50,000-a-week contract with Arsenal and will move to the Emirates this summer.

Moroccan centre forward Chamakh said: “I have always wanted to play in the Premier League and any striker wants to meet that challenge and play in the league.

“I am prepared for a move even though I am completely focused on helping my current club. That is more important than my personal situation.

“It is not easy in England but the challenge in my career has always been to learn every day, keep improving and always help my club to success.”

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas: I've been lucky to escape serious injury
Cesc Fabregas accepts being physical is part of the English game, but feels he has been lucky to escape the type of serious injury suffered by team-mate Aaron Ramsey.

Ramsey, 19, fractured his right tibia and fibula in a challenge with Ryan Shawcross during the second half of Arsenal's 3-1 victory at Stoke last weekend.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger condemned the tackle as "horrendous and unacceptable" after seeing another of his players suffer an horrific injury.

Eduardo spent the best part of a year on the sidelines when his season was ended by a challenge from Birmingham defender Martin Taylor in 2008.

Midfielder Abou Diaby, who was sidelined for eight months with a broken ankle after a challenge from Sunderland's Dan Smith in May 2006, feels such incidents will continue unless the Arsenal players get more protection from referees.

Fabregas is often on the end of some robust challenges and believes the Gunners have to stand up to rough treatment from teams looking to knock them off their passing game.

"Everyone thinks 'We are playing Arsenal, we have to go in hard on them', and I have no problem with the contact game," the Arsenal captain said.

"If opponents think that is the best way for them to beat us, no problem, but when you put your foot half a metre high on someone's leg, that is not right.

"It is not the first time this season we have seen challenges like this, but until someone breaks their leg no-one speaks about it.

"It has happened twice to me this season and I was lucky I did not get badly injured.

"I am sure he [Shawcross] did not want to break Aaron's leg, but the tackle was dangerous. It was terrible.

"I am sure he wanted to win the ball, but when your foot is that high only he knows what he was trying to do."

Fabregas scored the opening goal in Arsenal's 3-1 Premier League win over Burnley yesterday, but was taken off before half-time with a hamstring problem and is now doubtful for the Champions League game with Porto on Tuesday night.

Uruguayan teenager Abel Hernandez is the latest player to be linked with a summer move to Arsenal after a report in Italy’s La Gazzetta Dello Sport claimed that the 19-year-old Palermo striker had been watched by scouts from the Premier League club.

Hernandez only moved to the Serie A outfit last summer but has earned plaudits for his performances this term with goals against Lazio, Inter Milan and Fiorentina. The Penarol protégé, who represented his homeland at last year’s Under-20 World Cup is thought to be frustrated by his lack of first team minutes and could be tempted to quit Italy should a formal approach be lodged by Arsenal.

The left-footed hitman has scored four goals in total this season and has been tipped for a bright future at the top of the game. It remains unclear whether Hernandez would risk a move to England and given the numerous attacking options at Arsene Wenger’s disposal the likelihood of a regular starting berth at Arsenal appears unlikely.

With Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh moving to the Gunners in the summer, Robin van Persie expected to be fit by the end of the season and the likes of Theo Walcott, Nicklas Bendtner, Carlos Vela and Eduardo all battling for time on the pitch, Hernandez may take his potential further afield.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he could risk Cesc Fabregas against Porto despite him having a hamstring injury.
Fabregas suffered a recurrence of a previous hamstring injury against Burnley at the weekend and he is rated doubtful for Tuesday night's Champions League clash.

The Gunners have to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the first leg and Wenger says he could take a risk on his star midfielder, who bagged his 14th goal of the season against the Clarets.

"I'm ready to take the gamble," said Wenger. "But if there is more than a 50 per cent chance of his hamstring going I will not take it.

"You look at the Fabregas numbers and they are amazing - 14 goals and 15 assists. He's a fantastic player with a fantastic attitude and commitment.

And what people forget, an unbelievable work-rate too.

"This season he has taken a big step forward, massive. At 22 years of age he has matured."

Arsenal centre-back William Gallas could quit the Premier League for a lucrative deal in Italy after former coach Claudio Ranieri paved the way for the Frenchman to join him at AS Roma.

Gallas has been in fine form this season alongside new Arsenal fan favourite Thomas Vermaelen but with the player’s contract ending this summer, the veteran is free to speak to possible suitors about a Bosman move at the end of the season.

It is understood that Arsene Wenger is keen to keep Gallas at the Emirates but with the Gunners sticking to their single year contract extension for players over thirty the former Chelsea man could look elsewhere for more stability in his final playing years.

Speaking about the Arsenal star and the speculation mounting in Italy that he could move to the Stadio Olimpico, Ranieri said this week.

“Gallas is a player who has achieved so much in his career.

“I signed him when I was in charge at Chelsea and he has done well both for them and Arsenal.

“He is a top-level player and all top players are welcome at Roma.”

Arsenal could also lose Philippe Senderos this summer with the player expected to complete a permanent deal with Everton, while questions over the long-term suitability of Johan Djourou remain following another injury ravaged season.

Theo Walcott is no stranger to scrutiny. An England World Cup call-up before he had tasted life as a Premier League footballer ensured that the media spotlight would be his constant companion. Yet the 20-year-old with the veteran's outlook has come to understand the rules of the game, in which extreme measures are the day-to-day norm. "The thing is I'm always the country's biggest hope or the country's biggest disappointment," he said.

The Arsenal winger ran the gamut again last week. Derided by the former England winger Chris Waddle after the Wembley friendly victory over Egypt for lacking a "football brain", Walcott bounced back with a match-winning turn against Burnley, which kept Arsenal's Premier League title hopes burning.

Having endured a nervous first half, pockmarked by poor touch and delivery, not to mention a contretemps with his marker Danny Fox, he thrilled after the interval, teeing up chances for Nicklas Bendtner and the substitute Andrey Arshavin, forcing Brian Jensen into a smart save and beating the Burnley goalkeeper with a low left-footed drive. Yes, left-footed.

"Crossing and my left foot are the two big things I have been working on lately," Walcott said. "I want to improve my left foot. Against Burnley, I came inside, saw it open up and I managed to score. Hopefully I can do that more often. I picked out Bendtner with a few crosses as well."

Had Walcott been aware of Waddle's criticism? "I heard what he said but I don't listen to people on the outside of football," he said. "I only listen to the people around me; the boss [Arsène Wenger], Mr Capello, my family and the people around me. I am very level headed and I keep my feet on the ground. I will forget about this performance now and try to kick on and improve on Tuesday [against Porto in the Champions League]. Maybe if I keep performing like that, it will shut people up."

Marouane Chamakh's move to Arsenal has finally been confirmed and the Bordeaux striker is reportedly relishing the new life that awaits him at the Emirates, not to mention the weekly wage of £50,000. "I have always wanted to play in the Premier League," Chamakh is quoted as saying, "and any striker wants to meet that challenge and play in the league... It is not easy in England but the challenge in my career has always been to learn every day, keep improving and always help my club to success."

According to the Mirror, the 26-year-old Moroccan will join the Gunners on a five-year deal at the end of the season when his contract with Bordeaux expires. "I am prepared for a move even though I am completely focused on helping my current club, " continued Chamakh, "that is more important than my personal situation." Chamakh gave Gunners fans a taste of what is in store when scored for Bordeaux at the weekend in their top-of-the-table clash with Montpellier (a game that finished 1-1). It was his eleventh goal of the season for the leaders of the French first division.

I remember even Bendtner was constantly getting the better of him..

Suppose being short he couldnt handle him, bendtner is so clumsy though and insua barely won a ball against him..

He's a joke. Everytime I see him I'm just bewildered at Benitez continuing to play him.

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas looks set to miss the Premier League match at Hull on Saturday as well as the Gunners clash with Porto in the Champions League tonight.

Fabregas was substituted in the first half of Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Burnley on Saturday with a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

The Spanish playmaker now looks likely to be unavailable to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger until the home match with West Ham on March 20, according to a report in The Times today.

Fabregas is quoted in The Sun today: "I wanted to play but the doctors recommended I rest and avoid any risk. I am sad to miss out because Porto is important to us. I will suffer far more than usual, having to watch from the side."

The Arsenal captain has been in irrepressible form in 2009/2010, scoring 17 goals and providing 12 assists in 32 appearances.

Well they got that a bit wrong.. he has 19 assists in all competitions 15 in the league..

Juventus must attempt to land Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal according to Italian super agent Claudio Pasqualin.

Pasqualin, who has great links with the Old Lady and was once upon a time the agent of Alessandro Del Piero, has said Juventus need Fabregas if they are to become great again.

"I would say a dictator in the midfield is essential and such a player would correspond to Fabregas: young, but already an expert," Pasqualin told Tuttosport.

"Of course, buying Fabregas will not be easy, but there is no doubt the Spaniard is worth a try."

Fabregas has also been linked with former club Barcelona, as well as Real Madrid.

LOL

Arsene Wenger is in no doubt that bringing Sol Campbell back to Arsenal was the right thing to do.

The former England international is expected to resume his defensive partnership with Thomas Vermaelen when the Gunners welcome Porto to the Emirates on Tuesday night for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

That will be the centre-back's fifth game of his second spell with the Gunners after leaving in 2006, and Wenger is convinced of the value of his shock January signing.

"It was unexpected that Sol would play so many games, but it is also good because I think it was the right decision to bring him back," Wenger told his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Porto.

"Sol is a guy who gives everything when he is on the pitch.

Arsene Wenger's decision to give Cesc Fabregas the Arsenal captaincy could be decisive in seeing off Barcelona's interest in the sublime midfielder.

The Catalans are planning a summer mega-bid for a player who left them and headed to England as a 16-year-old back in 2003.

Despite often sending mixed messages about his future, Fabregas insists he is happy at the Emirates Stadium, revealing his pride at taking over as skipper from William Gallas 15 months ago.

'I am very united with the club and the supporters,' said the 22-year-old. 'My role as captain has increased my commitment to Arsenal and I am happy there.

'I have been at Arsenal for many years but I don't see myself as the only leader. We are together as a team and I rely on my team-mates to help me be successful. I am no more important than my team-mates.'
