I still like Capaldi and McNaughton:D. Johnson cost like £250,000 then you got like £5 million for him which then the 4 from it was used to bring Chops back. Glad Rog is playing well here in the Midlands and Cameron Jerome;).

I love Super Kevin McNaughton  Capaldi is **** though and he doesn't play anymore.

You've got lots of options at the back even Mark Kennedy can play at left back so Capaldi will probably go then.

Chris Burke is a very good player but Whittingham really is proving his worth proving the Villa made a mistake in letting him leave. Interest in him from the PL but the guy is smart enough to know that he's getting first team football at Cardiff so why leave?:).

We're sorted at the back, are usual line-up there is McNaughton at left back, Hudson and Gerrard in the middle, with Adam Matthews at right back. Quinn is cover for the right back position (but he's ****ing terrible) and as you said, Kennedy for the left. And then we have Gyepes who's good cover for the center backs but imo Gerrard should be dropped and Gyepes should have a first team place, he's far better.

McNaughton is more a right back IMO. Gyepes is a decent player he should be given more chances. Gerrard and Quinn need to show their worth.

Do you think Darcy Blake will come back as DJ did play him a bit last season.

Yeah his natural position is at right back but he prefers it on the left, and Matthews is very dependent on his right foot so that's why we have to play him there.

Darcy was brilliant against Leicester, slotted in well and I can see Jonsey playing him often until McPhail is back.

Aw I loved Earnie, wish he'd come back! Tbh he seems to be playing pretty well for Forest.

Oh right it's more of a use when you've got players who can slot in either at the left or right:).

Darcy needs more experience but it's great to mix in the youngters and try to bring the future Welsh players through;).

That was quite a good side then with Thorne, Gabbidon,Graham Kavanagh, Andy Campbell etc when Lennie Lawrence was in charge

Keeping Ledley is a must:), most of the squad basically. Risdale was a risk considering what he did to Leeds but so far he's proved people wrong.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seems to have called off the club's January hunt for a striker to help cover for the absence of Robin van Persie.

The Frenchman had previously stated that the Gunners were seeking striking reinforcements after Van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner suffered injuries.

However, with Bendtner nearing a return to fitness, it seems Wenger is happy with the players currently at his disposal.

"We are not after any striker at the moment," he informed his club's official website.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle hopes to make Jack Wilshire his third signing after Arsene Wenger hinted a move could happen.
Coyle is keen to add more attacking flair to his ranks and after drafting in Vladimir Weiss and Stuart Holden he is now hoping to wrap up a deal for Arsenal starlet Wilshire.

Wenger has confirmed the player will be leaving the Emirates Stadium on loan before the window closes and admits Bolton are in the hunt despite the bust up between the two clubs last week.

Tempers boiled over following William Gallas' tackle on Mark Davies but Wenger says that will not hamper any potential deal.

According to the Press Association, Fulham defender Chris Smalling headed for a medical at Manchester United’s Carrington training ground, straight after their 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Tuesday. The 20-year-old centreback was announced as a Manchester United player yesterday evening, however Sky Sports later suggested the deal for the precocious youngster was yet to be completed and Arsenal were still hopeful of signing the player; however it now appears the former Millwall apprentice will indeed sign for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side and move to the Premier League champions at the end of the season.

After their loss to Tottenham, Fulham manager Roy Hodgson claimed there were still a few formalities to iron out, but he expected Smalling to sign for Manchester United, despite long-term interest from Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Reports out of Italy are saying that Arsenal have shown significant interest in Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and that the only issue is the players high wage demand.

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com, Arsenal are devising a plan to entice the player to join the gunners as a short term replacement for Robin van Persie.

Arsenal have been linked with the AC Milan striker but as in all rumours involving Arsenal most are baseless, however with the Italian’s now getting in on the act and starting to quote sources etc it does give some credence to the speculation.

Huntelaar has struggled to make an impact at the San Siro and is eager to move at least on a loan in order that he can cement his place within the Dutch National squad in time for the World Cup Finals.

By all accounts it is this carrot that Arsenal are hoping will get Huntelaar to be more reasonable in his wage demands.

Spanish newspaper Sport reports this morning that Arsenal are to step up their interest in Barcelona’s 18-year-old attacking midfielder Gai Assulin.

The young Israeli playmaker is out of contract at the end of the 2009/2010 season and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been an admirer of Assulin for some time.

Assulin has been available to sign a new deal with a foreign club since January 1, 2010 and although the young starlet is keen to stay at the Nou Camp Arsenal are committed to making the signing.

The youngest ever Israeli international (Assulin made his debut for the national side at 16) has spent much of the season training with the Barcelona first team but has not made an appearance in the Spanish Primera Division or the Champions League.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is now weighing up a move for England U19 international, who has also been monitored by Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Wenger is looking to invest in younger players for the future at Arsenal, and has already assembled a talented squad which includes the likes of Jack Wilshere, Fran Merida, and Aaron Ramsey.

With Robin van Persie looking likely to miss most of the season with an ankle injury Wenger is looking to buy another forward with Moses outlined as a top transfer target.

The striker looks almost certain to leave Palace in the January transfer window with the Eagles looking to cash in on the player to ease their financial problems.

WTF is up with him? He's been absolute rubbish this season, ok fair enough he's been struggling with injuries but I havent seen one good game from him. Only time hes done something useful was the pass to Cesc for our 2nd goal against Villa.

His touch is dreadful, hes not taking on defenders and using his pace to good effect. He seems a passenger in every game, he really needs to pull his finger out. Right now hes probably best used as an impact player, but even when he comes on he doesnt seem to do much. Pissing me off tbh

His touch is dreadful, hes not taking on defenders and using his pace to good effect. He seems a passenger in every game, he really needs to pull his finger out. Right now hes probably best used as an impact player, but even when he comes on he doesnt seem to do much. Pissing me off tbh

For me hes never shown his talent hes never been good enough for us, and if he doesn't fulfil his talent soon then we should sell him whilst he would make some money..

We can Play nasri there or somthing and he bring far more impact to the game..
Milan have really wasted Huntellar, paired with Pato and the back in form Ronaldinho they could have banged in the goals considering most of that team is old lol.

Three horse race, i'm struggling to predict who will get fourth.

Yeah i want to wait 2 weeks then we can have a prediction weather Arsenal will do well or not.

Donovan has always been a class player in real life and on FIFA:D. Well done to the Toffees.

Yay we're off to Wembley;), first half was level but second half we stepped it up but both sides had chances either hand. As for that idiot who threw something at Bellamy:mad: they ruin it for the true fans hope they are caught and if we have to be punished for their absolute moronic actions then so be it, oh well it was always going to be a heated atmosphere...

Arsenal will wait until the summer to make their move for French forward Loic Remy.

The Gunners have been linked with a string of strikers during the January transfer window, but Arsenal scout and former midfielder Gilles Grimandi suggested the club would wait until the summer before making their move to bolster the forward line.

Nice striker Remy appears to be the new number one target at the Emirates, and Grimandi admitted that the 23-year-old striker was being monitored by the north London club.

“We know the potential of Remy. He has one of the greatest potentials in France and perhaps even in Europe over the next five years," said the Frenchman, who is currently the Gunners' chief scout in his homeland.

"He has a physical standard that is outside the usual, but we are looking for a player who will enhance our strength very quickly," Grimandi continued telling Europe 1 radio station.

Udinese midfielder Kojo Asamoah has dismissed rumours that he has been contacted by Arsenal about a move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Ghana international has further enhanced his reputation recently with a number of sparkling performance for his country at the African Cup of Nations.

It has been reported that Chelsea and Arsenal have taken an interest in the 21-year-old who says that while he is flattered to be linked with the Premier League giants he is happy to stay in Italy for now.

"I am an Udinese player. My ambition is to be in the team, week in, week out," said Asamoah.

"To be linked to Arsenal and Chelsea is a good thing but I've never been approached by those teams.

"If they are following me that is good and it means I am doing well, but now my focus is to bring the African Nations Cup to my country, nothing else."

Arsenal are yet to deal in Bolivian whizkid Samuel Galindo.

Galindo remains on trial with Arsenal as the Gunners are still undecided on whether to offer him a contract following allegations over irregularities with age, reports the 'Young Guns' website.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had announced plans to sign Galindo ahead of loaning him to a Spanish club last week, but as yet nothing has been formalised.

Galindo is said to be 17 years of age and the current captain of the Bolivian U20 team. However, reports in his homeland claim he is actually 20.

Hey 30 Stone:wavey:, bit harsh on Song that wasn't it. Arshavin had some chances and tested us in the first half and second, didn't see much from Fabregas?.

Yeah fabregas was playing deeper, which isnt wat we need against united, we needed creative play upfront, as i knew united would, score, our best chance is to just score more, but if we defend then we wont win we need to attack.

Yeah Arshavin was greedy first half, could have got like 3 tap ins if he had played the ball instead of shooting.

Vermaelen impressed me he seemed to have so much energy..
Was beating rooney in the air 90% of the time and was tracking him well, the problem i had was gallas today, when you counter attacked the only player that was coming back to mark rooney was vermaelen, gallas didnt come back quick enough, maybe its his age, if so i think he should think about buying a new centre back.

Remy wanted move

February 5th, 2010

Nice star Loic Remy admits he wanted to leave the club in the January transfer window.

Remy came close to making a return to his former club Lyon in January, but was also linked with Arsenal and Rennes.

“Such a soap opera is frustrating and exhausting. You realise a football player is just a toy,” Remy told France Football.

“On Monday, Nice’s sport director Eric Roy told me: ‘The transfer (at Lyon) will be sorted out’.

“But I am not playing for Lyon. When you show such an interest, you should finalise it.

“I have never asked anything, but L’OL has not been fair. I was keen to come back, seeing their strong insistence.”

He added: “There was Arsenal too, a club that makes me dream and I admire.

“It is nice to know they think about you and Rennes was a serious contact as I rate their coach Frederic Antonetti a lot and I was keen to join him, but Lyon was my priority, my family is living there.”

Expect to see no end of lame rubber boot-related puns when Arsène Wenger signs Brazilian “wonderkid” Wellington Silva for £3m. A good mate of Manchester United twins Rafael and Fabio Da Silva, the 18-year-old Fluminese striker first went on trial at Arsenal three years ago, when he scored four goals in 45 minutes against the mighty Norwich U-15s. This week, the Brazilian scored a brace and made another goal in a friendly with Dagenham & Redbridge, which was played behind closed doors and arranged by Arsenal to provide a platform for the youngster to show what he can do. According to The Sun, Wenger has also “stepped up the chase” for £14m-rated Nice striker Loic Remy, who has been dubbed “the new Thierry Henry”, probably because he’s a bit sullen, drives a Renault Clio and has a habit of going “missing” in really important games.

Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin has hit out at Premier League referees for failing to provide enough protection for players.

The 28-year-old playmaker – who has had to operate as a makeshift centre-forward in recent weeks following injuries to Robin van Persie, Nicklas Bendtner and Eduardo – has been playing in pain after sustaining a foot injury.

And the Russian international claims that the problem has not been able to heal fully due to the rough-and-tumble nature of the English game, and has called on officials to offer players more protection to prevent serious long-term injuries.

“The referees here do not whistle when someone just pushes you a little bit – it’s seen as nothing, you must play on,” the Gunner said in Mail.

“Of course that makes the game quicker, but for me it’s not always great.

“With my knock at the moment I’m trying my best and after each kick I am feeling pain, but I still train every day. I’ve had a few other injuries.

“Basically it is simple. If I can play, I will.”

Lille starlet Eden Hazard's potential move to the Premier League has been put on hold after the youngster signed a contract extension with the French club.

Hazard has long been a target for Arsenal and Manchester United, but the Belgian international has committed his future to the Ligue 1 side, according to the club's official website.

Reports from France have likened the 19-year-old forward to Zinedine Zidane, and various scouts from Europe, including Real Madrid, have been monitoring his progress.

But Lille hope the four year extension will ward off potential suitors.

Barcelona vice-president Alfons Godall is convinced that Cesc Fabregas will come back to the club at some point in the future.

Fabregas progressed through the youth ranks at Camp Nou before signing for Arsenal in 2003.

He has developed into one of the finest midfielder in world football under Arsene Wenger and has always stressed that he is committed to the Gunners.

However, speculation over a return to Spain has never been far away despite the fact that Arsenal would fight hard to keep such an important player.

Real Madrid are understood to be interested in snapping up Fabregas but Godall expects him to end up at Barca.

Reports suggest the Catalan giants are planning a £40million summer swoop for the Spain international.

Godall, who hopes to succeed Joan Laportaas president, believes that even if Fabregas does not make the move at the end of this season he will one day return to Barcelona.

“Sooner or later Cesc will end up coming back,” Godall said in The Sun.

“We are a club that can sign players because we are respected and solvent.” (Sky Sports)

Oh here we go again. This time its a prospective Barcelona president who looks to further his reputation by claiming that Cesc Fabregas will leave the Emirates to join the Catalan giants sooner or later. This is a standard tactic of someone looking to land the top job at the Nou Camp, this tactic involves promising to land all and sundry in the hopes that it will lead to the candidate getting enough votes to secure the president’s position.

Its clear that UEFA will never do anything about this blatant attempt at tapping up. Can you imagine for instance if Arsene Wenger said in a statement “I know we will sign Wayne Rooney, sooner or later he will join us” the Premier League would slap a fine or some sort of ban within minutes and Sir Alex would quite rightly be miffed.

Arsenal need to win Sunday, they are not out of the race but need to boost their chances.

I think Barcelona will get Fabregas in the summer but it will be a lot more than £40m plus they will offer a player. I agree with you 30stone, UEFA hates the English game because they know that apart from Barcelona & Real Madrid... it has no one. The Premiership is the best league in the world and The Championship is the most competitive.

No longer do AC Milan, Roma, Ajax, Bayern, Juventus etc. etc. rule the game. It's the English clubs plus the two Spanish clubs. They hate that fact and will eventually make it their priority to turn things around.

Fabregas has Barcelona on his mind at heart, all his family are there whilst he has given his all to Arsenal and they have made him into the player he is now with Barcelona's help at the start he will always but his head is with Arsenal and if they do sell him it will be with friendly terms and offer to please all and for him to show his gratitude to the fans:).

You guys need another striker and defender IMO.

I didnt say that thats just what a reporter person wrote..
I expect 60m for Fabregas 40 is nothing for one of the best in the world right now.

Its very bad how barca are going about it, as they vote in the new presidents.. so who ever offers best wins.. and they keep using fabregas as a persuasion, thing is as of right this second fabregas is our player and will be for a while.
Like the bloke said, this is like tapping someone up, we done it we would be in **** for it..

As they even got iniesta and xavi to try to convince him in training to join barca when they were training for an international match.. thats just messed up.

It's messed but I like Barca and genuinely believe they will wait until the summer at least if they want to try again and focus on this season. If Madrid are interested they won't care and will try to unsettle him and cause problems regardless.

I've got a soft spot for Sevilla as I do watch a bit of European football 30 Stone:blush:.

30stone, just out of interest how much do you think in 5 years time that lovely Welsh footballer in your avatar will cost someone? I believe you have the best Welsh footballer since John Charles and yes, I do believe he's going to be greater than Giggs.

No I am a Southampton fan, we've just come out of the crapper. It will take us at least 5 years to get back to the premiership but we have the right man and chairman.

Giggsy is a brilliant player (apart from not turning up to Welsh friendlies) and I'm not taking anything away from him. It's just Ramsey is something that gives me hope as a supporter that we can make it to either a Euro or World Cup. When you look at who we have now coming through for Wales, in five years time we will have a great team.

Watch the boy Ramsey, this to me is the new Steven Gerrard. If he was agressive then I would even say Roy Keane.

Thanks bbfan, I don't want us to go up this season because I know we will go back down. I actually feel sorry for Portsmouth, possibly the only Saints fan who does. They will go the same way as we did. Cup Final, sell all their players and then into League One.

terrible whats happening at portsmouth. one half of me wants them to be punished heavily - but then one half makes me feel much sympathy for the fans as its not their fault. classic example is luton - the fans didn't deserve that, the owners did

If I were Portsmouth I would take the administration now and get those 10 points off. They look doomed to relegation anyway, so it wouldn't affect them. I would prefer 10 points gone now rather than 10 in the Championship which is hard as hell to predict who beats who. To start -10 would be suicide in that division.
