Our first competitive game of the season tonight, away to Rabotnicki in the first leg of the Europa League qualifier. Skrtel, Aquilani, Agger, and Lucas are the only first teamers expected to play cos of the world cup... I don't see why the England players got as long a holiday as the Argentina, Germany's, etc.. They only made the last 16.
Portsmouth striker John Utaka has told the Nigerian Tribune that he would be interested in playing for SPL champions Rangers. Bolton, Sunderland and Fulham have also been linked with his services. Full story to follow! SSN

Liverpool are planning a double raid on Premier League rivals Aston Villa as they want to sign Luke Young and Stiliyan Petrov.
It was confirmed yesterday that the Reds had made an offer for Luke Young, which is now in jeopardy as the right-back looks for a pay out from the Villains.
Now boss Roy Hodgson is hoping to replace Inter Milan-bound Javier Mascherano with Bulgarian Petrov.
The former Fulham manager wants a proven Premier League player to line up alongside Lucas Leiva and Petrov is the man, according to the Mirror.
Mascherano is likely to be sold for around £25 million, giving Hodgson the funds to bring in more players, including a left-back as a top priority.

Arsenal target will decide his future next week
Arsenal target Sebastian Giovinco will decide on his future sometime next week according to his agent Andrea D’Amico, who also expressed his disappointment in the fact Giovinco has not been giving enough playing time at his current side Juventus.
Arsenal of course are the main contenders to land the ‘Atomic Ant’ should he decide to leave Turin for more regular play, and Arsene Wenger is eagerly anticipating the player’s decision.

Arsenal target Cristian Zapata's agent has said his client is desperate for a move away from Udinese and to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old centre-half has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium since last summer as the Gunners look to strengthen their back line.
Manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he is a big admirer of the Colombian international and with Arsenal short of options in the centre of defence a move has been mooted this summer.

Arsenal have already turned to Werder Bremen defender Per Mertesacker in order to solve their defensive crisis.
With Sol Campbell heading to Newcastle United and William Gallas, Philippe Senderos and Mikael Silvestre also leaving the Emirates, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has moved for Germany defender Mertesacker to bolster his defensive options.
Wenger is hopeful that he can secure the signing of the German in a £10m deal after failing to sign Phil Jagielka from Everton.
Arsenal have also been linked to Ajax's Jan Vertonghen and Dynamo Kiev's Senegalese defender Pape Diakhate.

Liverpool could be bought by a Chinese business tycoon within days, according to a source close to the deal.
Kenny Huang, head of Hong Kong-based investment company QSL Sports Ltd, wants to take full control of the Reds, who have been up for sale since April.
"A deal has to be done before the transfer window closes [on 31 August]," a source close to Huang told BBC Sport.
"Huang has made a firm proposal. The club's board has to sanction the sale and it could be sewn up in days."
However, he wants the deal to be completed within two weeks to allow Hodgson time to strengthen the squad before the transfer deadline at the end of August. Any later and the deal is off.
Huang is offering to clear Liverpool's debt to RBS
The tycoon also plans to build the club a new stadium as soon as possible.
Huang is a well-known figure in the Chinese sporting industry and particularly influential in basketball and baseball.

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres says he is "committed to the club and fans" and is "looking forward to working with new Reds manager Roy Hodgson".
Torres, 26, had been linked to Chelsea and Manchester City ever since the club failed to qualify for this season's Champions League.
"I am looking forward to the challenge ahead," Torres told the club's website.
"My commitment and loyalty to the club and to the fans is the same as it was on my first day when I signed."
The Spain international returned to training on Monday after helping his nation win the World Cup in South Africa in July.

Just got back from Everton v Everton Chile, we won 2-0, great goal from Beckford and another from Billy. Really impressed with Becks, he looks really goal hungry and sharp, quick too. Gueye looks immense, as does Coleman (really good to see him starting games, hope this carries on into the season proper). Billy looked much better tonight, more involved in the game and better touch on the ball and his finish for the goal was great.
Brilliant atmosphere, and we're still unbeaten in the pre season, just Wolfsburg on Sat now and less than 2 weeks until the PL kicks off - can't wait!! Got great feeling about this season :)

Yeah this will be our hardest pre season game by far, should be interesting! I'm just made up with how sharp we're looking at the moment and with the promise the new players we've got are showing, making me feel really optimistic about the season ahead :)

I'm really impressed with him so far from what I've seen, he looks happy and hungry to score goals, and that's what we've been missing, especially with the Yak being a lazy bastard and inconsistent since his injury and Saha being hit and miss. I've got high hopes for Beckford, just hope he gets games and can show the same appetite and skill against the big boys.

We can't afford Landon, simple as. Unless we sell Yakubu to West Ham, we're asking 9m but I dont think they're gonna pay that tbh. To get Donovan we'll need at least 10m, maybe more. Best we can hope for is that he stays where he is and we get him back on loan after the MLS season is finished again and maybe work something out for the following season, when hopefully we might have more money...as long as he doesn't go to Man ****ty, I hear they're sniffing about as well. I'd love to have him back but if we keep the players we've got (namely Arteta and Pienaar and both have now said they want to/are staying) then I dont even think we need anyone else at the moment tbh. We've got the most strength and depth in the team than we've had for years.

Went to the match tonight, first half was great, second half was boring cos Liverpool were attacking the other end so didn't get to see much, lol.
Jovanovic looks like he's going to be really good, definitely man of the match. Most the players seemed to be trying to set Cole up, but it looked like he was too worried about messing up and instead of shooting he was always looking for another through ball. Ngog is looking much better this season, actually want to keep him now but he needs to be third choice striker and not second.

Cesc Fabregas insists he is "100 per cent focused" on playing for Arsenal after the London club rejected two offers from Barcelona this summer.
The Gunners captain's future has been the subject of speculation all summer, with Barca making clear in public terms their desire to bring him back to the Nou Camp after coming through the Catalan club's academy.
However, his immediate future now appears to be at the Emirates Stadium and he said: "I am a professional and I fully understand that it is Arsenal's prerogative not to sell me.
"I owe a lot to the club, manager and the fans and I will respect their decision and will now concentrate on the new season ahead with Arsenal.
"I can assure all the fans that now the negotiations have ended I will be 100 per cent focused on playing for Arsenal."
Fabregas admitted a move to Barcelona had been an appealing prospect, but that he respected the club's decision to hold on to a player who is under contract until 2014.
He added: "Firstly I would like to apologise to all the Arsenal fans for not speaking sooner about my future but I have not known what I was going to do until this moment.
"I cannot deny that joining a club like Barcelona was not an attractive move for me. This was the club where I learnt my football, it is my home town where my friends and family are and a club where I have always dreamed of playing.
"There are not many players in the world who would not want to play for Barcelona. I have had many conversations with Arsene Wenger both in person and over the phone over the last few months and although the content of those conversations will remain private, the conclusion is that Barcelona have had two formal offers rejected by Arsenal.
"I am an Arsenal player and as soon as I step out on to the pitch, that is the only club I will be thinking about. I am looking forward to the start of the season and putting this speculation behind me."

Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle is hoping the success of Arsenal FC teenager Jack Wilshere’s loan spell at the club will entice the big clubs to send their young talent to the Reebok.
The Gunners youngster spent six months on loan with Wanderers earlier this year and is now believed to be on the cusp of a place in Fabio Capello’s England squad for next week’s friendly against Hungary at Wembley.
Asked if Wilshere’s improvement under his watch could enhance his prospects of landing a top youngster on loan, Coyle said: “From a selfish point of view, I hope so.
“I have always tried to be transparent when I bring young players in and give them an opportunity.
“I think you can see the development the players get because we play a certain style, which is conducive to young players improving and going on to further their careers.
“If there are players of that ilk – like Jack Wilshere – out there then we would certainly look to bring them in. If Jack does get the call for England then I have to say it’s merited.
“I’m not being smart after the event, but I said last year that if Mr Capello took a young player to the World Cup then, for me, he was the one.
“What I’d seen in development from January to the end of the season was incredible.”
Coyle has not given up completely on spending another six months in Wilshere’s company, and admits he will be watching Arsenal’s progress carefully in the next few weeks.
“We’ve seen him play at the Emirates Cup and Arsene has conceded that he’s a far better player now – I’m delighted by that,” he said.

“Gilberto, Julio Baptista and others gave me confidence by insisting I must accept this chance,” he said.
"In the end the Chelsea proposition was impossible to reject - not just because of the money but the chance to spend every day at one of the best clubs in the world.
"As a boy in Brazil I watched the Premier League and I remember how Chelsea and Manchester United played such attractive football.

Mikel Arteta has provided a huge boost to the Blues by agreeing a new five year contract with the Club.
The deal will keep the 28-year-old at Goodison until 2015 and brings an end to media speculation over the Spaniard's future.
Arteta becomes the fifth player this summer to agree new terms with the Club. He follows Tim Cahill, Seamus Coleman, Jack Rodwell and Leighton Baines in tying his future to the Blues.
Arteta told evertonfc.com: "What this summer has made me realise is how important I am to the Club and how important the Club is to me. The Chairman and the manager wanted me to stay 120 per cent and that makes me feel proud. We are all seeing the Club and the future in the same way and that is special - something that you don't always find.
"I believe in this squad. We have got a very strong squad now and it is getting difficult to pick an 11 because of the players we have. Something is happening here and I want to be a part of it."
Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright believes the new deal is a huge boost for the Club so close to the new season.
He said: "Mikel Arteta is one of the finest players ever to wear an Everton shirt and over the past few weeks his pride in wearing that shirt has helped our conversations hugely. Alongside several others in the squad we are both passionate Evertonians.
"After already tying up the likes of Tim Cahill, Jack Rodwell, Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman on long-term deals we have now agreed terms with one of the finest and most influential players in our recent history."
Arteta has been a key player for the Blues since first arriving on Merseyside in January 2005 and has twice been named the Club's Player of the Season in his time with Everton.
Manager David Moyes sees Arteta as a key part of his plans for the future of the side.
"Its great news that Mikel Arteta has pledged his future to Everton. He is a very important player for us and we are delighted to secure him.
"The Chairman deserves a lot of credit for making this deal happen. He is continually trying to move the Club forward."
I'm so happy I could actually cry!! Now we just need Pienaar to do the same :)

Arsenal are reportedly preparing an audacious £23 million bid for Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
According to The Sun, Arsene Wenger has switched his target from experienced Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer to the 27-year-old Reina, who has only recently signed a six-year deal at Anfield in April.

Everton fans piss me off, we've won all our pre season games so far, have had great news about Arteta today and there they go bitching and moaning again already because we're down at half time. Not even playing our strongest team, and they on a downer again as quick as that and slagging the players and Moyes :bored:

Liverpool seem to be beating Arsenal in the race to sign Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, according to the Mirror.
Wright-Phillips is believed to have been told he can leave the City of Manchester stadium for a fee of around £7 million.
However Arsenal are thought to be unwilling to pay the £65,000-a-week wages he earns and now this has opened the door for Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson to make his move.
Hodgson is confident of signing Wright- Phillips after already persuading his former Chelsea team mate Joe Cole to join the Merseyside club ahead of the Emirates.
Wright-Phillips has already turned down City’s offer of a £10,000-a-week wage increase he was offered at the end of last season and his place has recently come under threat since the arrival of David Silva from Valencia and the imminent arrival of James Milner from Aston Villa.

Poulsen is due to sign any day now from Juventus aswell. And we've been linked with Crouch for a few days now. Imagine our squad ended up like this:
GK: Reina
RB: Johnson
CB: Carragher
CB: Agger
LB: Aurelio / New Signing
DM: Poulsen
Free Role: Gerrard
LW: Jovanovic
RW: Wright Phillips
AM: Cole
ST: Torres
Subs:
GK: Cavalieri / New Signing
DF: Skrtel
DF: Aurelio / New Signing
MF: Lucas
MF: Aquilani
ST: Kuyt
ST: Crouch
Maxi, Babel, Ngog, Kyrgiakos, Pacheco, Kelly, Spearing and Wilson all on the fringe too.
I think someone like Villa will end up with Wright Phillips though.

Need a new CB to partner Hudson, Gerrard's attitude isn't right atm. A defensive midfielder because the midfield gets overrun everytime as it's too attacking and nobody can tackle. A back-up full back that can defend more than attack and can play either side, as Darcy and Kev played well together today. CB is a massive problem, none of them are consistent.
Darcy is absolutely amazing and he's gonna have a storming season for us as long as he keeps playing full back, he's too short for CB and he makes me jittery whilst defending set pieces. Adam won't play much this season I don't think (unfortunately) due to Darcy and Kev looking awesome, Ad's can't defend for sh*t either but that's what needed for physical teams, he should play against more of the passing teams as he links up well with Burke down the right and he's a brilliant attacker. Sligo Rovers 1-0 Everton
:laugh3:
Everton RESERVES
It actually finished 2-0 to Sligo lol
Great to see Shane Duffy back and playing the full 90mins, don't give a crap about the result tbh, Coleman only played for the first 15mins, I'm hoping that means Moysey's looking at playing him on Saturday against Blackburn :)

No idea lol, we thought it was gonna be shown on EvertonTV but it wasn't in the end :( I rate him, but he's gonna find it impossible to make it into the first team this season though, he made a couple of appearances for us last season but no chance now.

Anyone want to make a new one of these?
Think the size of this is whats causing the double posting problem.
Will lock this once the new one is up. Link this one in the new one though please, whoever makes it :)
