Enjoyed the rewatch, there's a few decent storylines and the writing has improved/gone back to normal. Back when I stopped watching during spring it felt like a sitcom and the writing was a joke. The show feels like it's going in a different direction, for the better or for the worse it's too early to tell. It still needs some more life, at this time of the year the atmosphere should be more intense, still feels a bit dead for December compared to last year.

As far as I know, no death has even been confirmed. Just an accident of some sort which leaves a resident with "blood on their hands". Whether they die or not, that is definitely concerning the Slaters (even though all but one character are not actually Slaters).

I have no idea whether new bosses coming in have all that much impact on what is currently being shown on screen or not, but Yorke is capable of producing good stuff so I would imagine it's just an improvment his end. Regardless that he may be guilty of dragging things out slightly, he's nowhere near as bad as SOC was so I'm really looking forward to this Christmas.

To be fair the show was in an absolute state when he took over so he's had to do a lot of damage control.

I think some of it has made the show feel boring because he's been trying to rebuild it but it's now paying off. The show has been excellent for about a month now.

It's had a bit of a Lorraine Newman feel to it, a stopping gap to clear up the state left from the last producer until the new permanent person comes in. It's been alright, if nothing spectacular. He made a couple of daft decisions like killing off Abi, but he's straightened things out for Kate and Jon to come in. Here's hoping they can reverse the ratings now.

:think: I find it odd that they would reveal stuff like that after keeping schtum about all of the details of the Christmas episode. Kind of makes it more predictable how the "secret" is going to come out.

All that goes to show how EastEnders hasn’t been the same since late 2005. They had to go further ahead and piss all over it by making Stacey a murderer.

I'd say that Friday's episode was one of the first times that Danny Dyer has actually been able to establish himself as a decent actor in EastEnders. I don't think it quite suited the character (but then again he has only just come out of prison), but it definitely suited him more as an actor. For years it seemed as though he was just playing a very miserable version of himself.

If they write him well I think it could be quite a good story. He already comes across as mentally unhinged, I reckon if they were going to have him kill a bunch of people it'd be impulsive and not cold-blooded and he'd be in denial about it all. I suppose that would make it more interesting, at least. A little bit like Lucas.
