Storm Caroline:
Storm Caroline is expected to bring a spell of very windy weather to northern Scotland on Thursday. Gusts of 60-70 mph are expected quite widely, with gusts to 80 mph possible near north facing mainland coasts and across the Isles. Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible. Some short term loss of power and other services is possible. It is likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.
Between 00:05 Fri 8th and 18:00 Sat 9th
Snow showers are expected to become increasingly frequent over northern Scotland late on Thursday and are expected across many other parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and western England on Friday. 2-5 cm of snow is likely for some, with 10-20 cm possible over high ground, mainly Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Icy surfaces are also likely to be an additional hazard, especially overnight. Strong northwest winds may cause drifting of the snow in places with blizzard conditions possible at times across northern Scotland. The heaviest and most frequent of the snow showers will progressively become confined to northeast Scotland during Saturday. Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and for train services. Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy and snowy surfaces.

Amber warning now issued for Sunday. Worth taking note:
Between 04:00 Sun 10th and 18:00 Sun 10th
A spell of heavy snow is likely over parts of Wales, the Midlands and parts of Northern England on Sunday. Road, rail and air travel delays are likely, as well as stranding of vehicles and public transport cancellations. There is a good chance that some rural communities could become cut off.
Chief Forecaster's assessment
A band of rain, heavy at times, is expected to move eastwards over the UK. With cold air in place, a spell of heavy snow looks likely to develop on its northern edge. 10 cm looks likely quite widely within the warning area, with 15-20 cm in places. There is increasing certainty in the track and location of the heaviest snow.

watch the lake effect snow radar sequence here (amazing): https://weather.com/storms/winter/news/2017-12-26-erie-pennsylvania-record-snowstorm-christmas
A lake-effect snowband dumped over 4 feet of snow in Erie, Pennsylvania, in just over one day's time.
This shattered the city's calendar-day snowfall record, on Christmas Day, no less.
Continuing into Tuesday, this also clobbered the previous state record two-day snowfall.
Erie picked up more snow in 30 hours than their previous 13-day snowfall record.
Officials declared a snow emergency for the city.

Well, If I leave here and it's sunny and land into rain I'll be very unhappy. We only get a bout 5 days a year of sunshine here as it is :fist:

It was lovely on Sunday, really hot and sunny. Went out for lunch, left the roof down when we came home and suddenly... a bloody thunderstorm. My car got a proper soaking before I could put the roof back up.
I have to say, I blamed you, LT.

I know, it's crazy isn't it. My brother was talking to one of the neighbours of that family last night, one of their kids is disabled as well, born without limbs I think he said. It must have been terrifying for them all. But atleast they all got out safely
