Firstly i would like to say well done to Andy even i didn't want him to lose 5 finals in a row.
Now for the negative. I will start with the level of play which was FUKEN **** and i would go as far as saying it was the worse standard of tennis i have seen in a while. NOBODY went for the lines with every shot being hit into the middle of the court sadly the ATP have done everything in there power to help the pushers of the game. This is suppose to be a hard court even and like the Aussie open plays as slow as a bloody clay court smh( mayve even slower then Madrid)
Secondly the wind totally favoured Murray Novac did not start playing at an average standard untill the 3rd set when the wind died down slightly
I will also tell you this if Fed had got to the semi's(sadly his age really hurts him nowadays against the big hitters) Murray would have recieved a couple of bagels playing the way he did vs Novac
The Top 12 Matches of the US Open and Vika was in 3 of them :idc:
[3] Andy Murray def. [2] Novak Djokovic, final, 7-6 (10), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2
In the fifth-straight Monday final at the US Open, Andy Murray won his first Grand Slam title in his fifth attempt. The Briton had lost in his four prior tries, winning just one of 13 sets. But this match was a classic from the get go, with Murray squeezing out the first-set breaker on his sixth set point, jumping out in front of Novak Djokovic, the defending champion. Murray looked as though he might run away with it, taking a 4-0 lead in the second. But Novak fought back, taking the set to 5-all before the No. 3 seed closed it out. It was then that Murray got tight, yelling to his box at several points that his legs felt like "jelly" and watching Djokovic surge back for the third and fourth sets. It was, however, Murray's day. He broke to open the fifth set and then served out the four-hour, 54-minute match by holding at love, capturing the Olympic-US Open double with the victory.
[4] Serena Williams def. [1] Victoria Azarenka, final, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5
For the first time in 17 years, the women’s final went to three sets at Flushing Meadows. Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka battled back and forth on Ashe, with Serena dictating play—whether it be with winners (she hit 44 of them) or unforced errors (there were 45). As momentum swung from one side of the court to the other, it was Azarenka who seized it late in the third set, claiming a 5-3 lead in the third. But Williams would not go away. Playing with her back against the wall, Serena won the final four games of the match, capturing her fourth Open and 15th major title.
[1] Victoria Azarenka def. [3] Maria Sharapova, semifinals, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4
The owners of the year’s first two Slams faced off in a blockbuster women’s semifinal that didn’t disappoint. Maria Sharapova led by a set and a game with break points to go up 2-0, but Azarenka held her service game and took with it the momentum in the match. With the crowd squarely behind Maria, Azarenka held her nerve to take a 5-4 lead in the third, finally breaking Sharapova for a spot in the women’s final.
[4] David Ferrer def. [8] Janko Tipsarevic, quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4)
Serb Janko Tipsarevic blew a two-sets-to-one lead in this match, as well as a 4-1 advantage in the final set. But this one wasn’t about what didn’t happen, it was more about the incredible tennis these two put on display for four hours, 31 minutes in Arthur Ashe Stadium. They captivated the crowd with truckloads of extended baseline rallies. While Tipsarevic hit some of the shots of the tournament, No. 4 seed David Ferrer ended up as the more consistent of the two fighters.
[1] Victoria Azarenka def. [7] Sam Stosur, quarterfinals, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (5)
It was perhaps the best match of the tournament, with the defending champion, Sam Stosur, going toe-to-toe with the world’s No. 1-ranked player, Azarenka. Azarenka blew Stosur out of the water in the first set, but after a rain delay, the Australian came with a gameplan, the two exchanging deep, hard-hit groundstrokes in eye-popping rallies. Azarenka hit an ace at break point down late in the third set and then a pitch-perfect dropshot in the tiebreaker, helping her make her first-ever Open semis.
[6] Tomas Berdych def. [1] Roger Federer, quarterfinals, 7-6 (1), 6-4, 3-6, 6-3
Roger Federer looked shockingly down and out of this one in the third set, trailing Czech Tomas Berdych by two sets and a break. But the world No. 1 conjured up some of his best tennis, winning the final four games of the third set and creating a buzz in Arthur Ashe that he may be able to come up with another rousing two-sets-from-love-down comeback. It wasn’t meant to be, as Berdych, who shocked Federer in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2010, served emphatically and smacked his forehand at will en route to a four-set win.
[3] Maria Sharapova def. [11] Marion Bartoli, quarterfinals, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4
There may have never been a player so intense and focused as Marion Bartoli was in this match. The quirky Frenchwoman came out blazing in the first set, leading the four-time Slam champ 4-0 before rain sent them off court for the day. The next day, Bartoli would close the set, but the overnight had helped Sharapova turn the mental tides, and she took advantage. Sharapova came from a break down, drawing errors from Bartoli late in the third to secure the win.
[7] Juan Martin del Potro def. [20] Andy Roddick, fourth round, 6-7 (1), 7-6 (4), 6-2, 6-4
This two-day affair was more of an emotional battle than anything else, Andy Roddick and the New York crowd trying to will the American through one more match at the Open with his pending retirement looming over all four sets. It looked as though Andy could do just that as he closed out the first set on day two and got the second into a breaker. But Argentine Juan Martin del Potro would close the match in four. After, Roddick emotionally addressed the crowd, for the first time as a former player. “For the first time in my career, I’m not sure what to say,” Roddick said after the match. “I’ve loved every minute of it.”
[1] Mike and Bob Bryan def. Santiago Gonzalez/Scott Lipsky, third round, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (5), 6-3
Bob Bryan hit the shot of the tournament in this match, just two points from defeat, and followed it up with a winner to give him and his brother Mike Bryan a set point to level things up. Bob’s between-the-legs scoop shot came at a critical juncture, but it seemed to buoy the brothers, as the electrified Grandstand helped carry them into the quarterfinals. It was the only three-set match they’d play the entire tournament.
[19] Philipp Kohlschreiber def. [9] John Isner, third round, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4
The usually cool-headed John Isner suddenly came unraveled in the fifth set against Kohlschrieber in what had already been a frustrating affair for the big-serving American. Called for a foot fault, Isner lost his serve to open the final set and couldn’t convert three break points against the German Philipp Kohlschreiber, a top-20 player with a solid baseline game. It was an early exit for Isner, who made the quarterfinals a year ago.
Laura Robson def. [23] Kim Clijsters, second round, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5)
Everyone knew this was Kim Clijsters’ last US Open, including British teen Laura Robson. But the world’s No. 89 had no fear in facing the retiree-to-be in front of a pro-Kim Arthur Ashe crowd. Robson, a lefty, matched Clijsters shot for shot, but was able to edge ahead in each tiebreak. She trailed 2-5 in the first set but cranked forehand winners for the first-set tiebreak and then nailed a running forehand winner to earn match point in the second.
[6] Angelique Kerber def. Venus Williams, second round, 6-2, 5-7, 7-5
In a first week that was full of short matches and quick night sessions, Angelique Kerber and Venus Williams kept the New York evening crowd past midnight for the first time all week. Kerber served for the second set, but Williams found her stride, clocking forehand winners from the baseline to fore a third. It looked as though the two-time champion may pull an upset against the 2011 semifinalist as she gained a 4-2 lead, but Kerber, ever the scrambler, won five of the final six games to secure the win.

Now that he's got that monkey off his back, who knows where he'll go from here. Just look at Djokovic in 2011. Onwards and upwards in 2013, I say.
Robson impressing again this week too. Good win over Zheng today to reach another quarter final. Watson reached another doubles final last week. British tennis is looking goooood.

Deuce again... lovely.
She can do without the body language after losing points like that. She has a big lead still she shouldn't feel low or annoyed at losing points at this sort of lead

I just hope this isn't like what happened in the first set.
5-1 and the pressure gets to her again, she should surely get this now within 2 games.

Still, her future is bright, shame she didn't deliver after going 3-0 up in the final set.
She still has a couple of tourneys before the year is out anyway, right?
Laura Robson falls to Su-Wei Hsieh in dramatic WTA Guangzhou Open final.
Su-Wei Hsieh (Chinese Taipei) beat Laura Robson (Great Britain) 6-3 5-7 6-4 in final of WTA Guangzhou Open.
Laura Robson was thwarted in her bid to become Britain's first WTA Tour singles champion for 24 years in a dramatic clash with Chinese Taipei's Hsieh Su-wei in the final of the Guangzhou International Open.
The 18-year-old looked set to lose in straight sets but saved five match points and then went 3-0 up in the decider only for world number 53 Hsieh to fight back and win 6-3 5-7 6-4 in hot and humid conditions in China.
Robson was not even born the last time Britain had a singles finalist - Jo Durie in 1990 - but Sara Gomer's reign as the last British winner in 1988 remains.
It has nevertheless been a brilliant week for Robson, who has built on her superb run to the fourth round of the US Open and will climb into the world's top 70 for the first time on Monday.
The British No 1 beat three top-50 players on her way to the final, and she made the perfect start with a break of serve in the third game, Hsieh struggling to deal with the teenager's power.
But the player from Chinese Taipei is a wily opponent and, with Robson struggling for consistency on her serve and forehand, Hsieh reeled off four games in a row and quickly wrapped up the set.
Robson was given some words of advice and encouragement from new coach Zeljko Krajan and responded by winning the first two games of the second set only for Hsieh to hit back with another run of four straight games.
Hsieh was reading her opponent's game extremely well now, offering the teenager very little pace and never the same ball twice, but Robson dug very deep to save five match points on her serve at 3-5.
That still left her opponent serving for the match but the teenager had a new confidence about her and she turned the tables to win three games in a row and level the match.
It was a crushing blow for Hsieh and another example of what makes Robson so exciting, and it got better for the Londoner as she made it seven straight games to move 3-0 up in the decider.
Hsieh was not finished, though, and for the third time in the match she put together a run of four straight games, and then added a fifth.
Robson again forced her to serve it out, but this time there was no twist, Hsieh clinching victory on her sixth match point when her opponent drilled a backhand wide after two hours and 47 minutes.
There was better news, though, in Tokyo, where British number two Heather Watson beat higher-ranked Czech Andrea Hlavackova to qualify for the main draw.

11 Double Faults in that final.. that's nearly 3 games dropped already
She has some troubles with nerves that's for sure. Takes me back to doubles final with Andy at the olympics. Man she bottled that

OMG, that was just painful to watch
She'll get there some-day, this new coach has been wonders for her.

I actually got up and watched the Robson/Hsieh final.
Hsieh (who I don't recall seeing before) was sooooooo impressive for the first set and a half. Very casual shot making, painting the lines and coming up with some quite absurd drop shots and slice forehands. Laura just looked lost. I'd accepted that she had lost to the better player on the day when down 3-6, *3-5. The match quality and drama suddenly spiked from here. Some of the most exciting stuff I'd seen all year. Laura saved 3 match points in spectacular fashion, nothing Hsieh could have done. Then Hsieh missed two sitters on the next two MPs. Laura seemed inspired and all of a sudden it was one set all. A ten minute heat delay break seemed to kill the atmosphere a little but Laura came out swinging. Hsieh looked defeated. Robson was in complete control at 3-0 then fell apart. Hsieh wasn't playing anywhere near as we'll as she was in the first two sets but Laura became so erratic that it didn't matter. I was gutted for her, she looked so disappointed.
I'd have rather her lost 3-6, 3-6 to be honest.
Robson is up to #57 in the world
And Watson defeated Sabine Lisicki this morning 6-4 7-6

Nice win for Watson but Lisicki hasn't won a match outside of Wimbledon for 5 months.
Good win for her confidence though, going into this massive tournament, qualifying and then winning the first round match is good. She should savour it, she's got Maria next!
Watson took the first set 7-6 but lost the match 63 64 in the last two sets. good show for her
Another title for Radwanska on the way
The Best 5
1) Vika
2) Raddy
3) Rezai ( even though she's **** )
4) Zakopalova
5) Ivanovic

She won 5 games in a row then :pipe:
Okay so Petrova has hit some random purple patch and won the title in Tokyo
Robson has qualified for China but Watson didn't but if somebody pulls out I think she'll be the Lucky Loser and get a spot in the main draw
Petrova got very lucky Vika got a bad case of Dizzyness
In what?
In the Novo Rankings
Vika shouldn't have sniffed all those poppers the night before

Just wanted an extra day to go sight seeing didn't she
She'll be slipping down those rankings in no time
No one else is good enough to be World #1 apart from Serena and her days are numbered soon
She'll be #1 again before retiring
Robson has a nifty little draw, could get to the second round easily. And push Vinci
Don't you want to see Robson do well?
Suppose it would be good for British Tennis but i don't support people based on their nationality, it's different in the Olympics and International football, Cricket,Rugby etc because they are playing for the country then.. it's Tennis your pretty much playing for yourself.. unless it's the Davis cup and all that
And plus our British players don't really have much personality do they? Murray, Robson, Watson, Ward, Keothavong.... Team Bore
If only we had a Male Tsonga and a female Vika

Date shouldn't be a problem. She's only won two matches on the main tour this year and only one of them was top 100. Vinci - well, she beat her a couple if months ago on clay, but the Italian seems to be in better form right - title in Dallas, quarters of the US Open. I wouldn't be surprised at any result.
I'm hoping she can push Vinci to three or surprise us with a good solid performance.
Vika v Lisicki in the China Open, should be fun watching Vika Maul her like a rag doll

Meh, it's either all or nothing for me. If you don't like a player because of their personality (or lack of) then I don't see why you should suddenly start supporting them because of their nationality when it suits.

When it suits then. Very flippant, you must admit.
I see what you mean that in tennis people are more representing themselves as individuals most of the time, though I also think it's natural for people to be more inclined to support people of the same nationality
I don't get why you'd want to not support them after the Olympics though.

It's the same way that when John Terry and Steven Gerard play for their clubs in Football i would hate them, but when they play for England I put the hate aside and support the people playing for our country.
