I don't have sky sports so I'll just have to watch the live scores online! I am going to subscribe to Sports for the US Open though. Does anyone know if I can just subscribe for a month then cancel it?

Really wanted Nole to win against Fed today, he played some great tennis in the 2nd set and was un-lucky to allow Fed to break back.

Glad for Elena Baltacha, good stuff :)
Laura Robson just lost her singles match of hopman cup 6-4 3-6 0-6. It's a shame for her, [especially the bagel!] played a good first set but seemed to loose her serve when it counted most and her opponent who is alot higher ranked and more experienced seemed to step it up a notch. Overall Laura shouldn't be too dissapointed, she played some great, well-constructed points.
Who did she play Gemmer? and where was the match? [on TV?] I completely forgot! Thanks for letting me know
Did she play Yaroslava Shvedova?

Yeah she played Shvedova and no it's not on tv i found a stream on the web. Although, sky are supposed to be showing highlights this evening.
Murray cruised passed his opponent [i can't remember how you spell his name :P ] 6'2 6'2
Mixed doubles just ended with Andy + Laura winning! My god i don't know how, it was so tense at the end but they pulled through. They looked so cute playing together, Andy was really sweet encouraging her and making her go and accept the applause at the end. The highlights are definately worth a watch if you can. 6'3 4'6 7'6 [i think!]
So Great Britain take the tie 2-1 :D
.. i've been sat here for 6hours watching all 3 of these matches, eating chocolate and drinking tea.. what a productive day. :)
HAHA Productive or what!?
I've been revising :( so I've missed out. But I'm chuffed with the win over Kazakhstan! I think they have Germany next. Very hard job! Robson vs. Lisicki - she's a tough one! But I reckon she'll do well against her. Murray has Kohlschreiber!
Could do with Russia slipping up against Kazakhstan to give GB a better chance of going through :)

GBR will now play Spain (Tommy Robredo/Maria Jose Sanchez Martinez who is a doubles specialist) in the final on Saturday.
...former Wimbledon junior champion Robson, 15, has lost all three of her singles matches this week, she believes she can beat Martinez Sanchez, who is ranked 26th in the world.
"I played her in a practice set before the tournament started, and I won," she said. "I know it's only practice but I am telling myself practice is basically a match, so technically I am 1-0 up."

WTA: Auckland final
[3] Yanina Wickmayer df. [1] Flavia Pennetta 6-3 6-2
WTA Brisbane
[1] Kim Clijsters df. Justine Henin 6-3 4-6 7-6
Kim Clijsters survived two match points to beat Justine Henin in a thrilling Brisbane International final.
Clijsters looked to be romping to an easy win after claiming the first set and taking a 4-1 lead in the second.
But her game crumbled and Henin, in her first event since coming out of retirement, hit back to take the set and a 3-0 lead in the decider.
Clijsters battled back, saving two match points, and edged a dramatic tie-break to win 6-3 4-6 7-6 (8-6).
What a random yet amazing match! Completely topsy turvy!
Laura Robson earns Australian Open qualifying wildcard
British teenager Laura Robson has been awarded a wildcard to play in Australian Open qualifying this month.
The 15-year-old sparkled alongside Andy Murray at the Hopman Cup in Perth, beating world number 26 Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in the final.
Qualifying begins on 14 January and Robson, ranked 403rd in the world, will need to survive three rounds to reach the main draw at Melbourne Park.
"Laura's had a quick rise on the scene and deserves this," a spokesman said.
"We're excited that we can recognise her success and look forward to seeing her in Melbourne."
Robson first came to prominence by winning the girls' singles title at Wimbledon in 2008.
The young left-hander's only previous appearance at senior level in a Grand Slam came at Wimbledon last year when she was handed a wildcard into the main draw before losing to Daniela Hantuchova in the first round.
Saturday's victory over Sanchez Martinez was her first over a top-30 player, although it will not officially go down on her record as the Hopman Cup is not a tour event.
"Today was really good in singles," said Robson, who turns 16 on 21 January.
"I knew I could play that well it was just maintaining it throughout the match and I'm going to go into Melbourne full of energy."
Robson said her chances of qualifying at the Australian Open "depends on the draw and everything else" but she added: "I'm there for the juniors anyway."

Jie Zheng has got through to quarter finals for the first time here at the Aussie Open, she beat Bondarenko 76 64 and will face either Kirilenko or Safina.
Nadia Petrova has continued her amazing form into the quarters ousting Kuznetsova in three, winning 63 36 61. She will face either Henin or Wickmayer in the quarter final.

Maria Kirilenko goes through to the quarter finals of a major for the first time in her career, leading 64 when Safina pulled out. Andy Roddick just went through with a 5 set win over Gonzalez. Poor Gonzo!

I honestly have no idea although Murray has a huge chance. It's on soon enough now. Anyone going to watch?
I missed it :( had a stupid 3 hour lecture! just watched half the highlights though, it was a good match up until nadal showed obvious signs of hurting. I had a good feeling about Murray before he went into the match, so glad he's in the semi finals now! Marin Cilic next, Murray will be looking for revenge against him! Cilic has played over 18 hours of tennis this week, compared to Murrays' 10 hours. Murray is relatively fresh compared to Cilic. Hopefully it'll work in his advantage, however I don't see Murray needing to have that advantage he should win in 3 sets or 4 :) c'moonnnn Murray!
Laura Robson and Oliver Golding are doing well in the Girls and Boys Singles. Both in the third round and will play tomorrow.

It was nice to see Murray doing so well, but I'm a little worried and saddened about Nadal because I've always had a huge amount of respect for the way he plays and carries himself on and off the tennis court. Hopefully he'll get over all these injuries but unfortunately there's a part of me that feels he'll never be the same player again.

Can't see Cilic troubling him, although he does have that formidable serve. Yeah, I have my reservations about Nadal now that it seems as though his body can't take the punishing matches that we've grown accustomed to seeing him produce time and again. His whole game is based on the physical aspect of the game, as he always tries to drain his opponents. With a dodgy body he wont be able to do it anymore and unfortunately I don't believe that he has the ability to change his game.

I agree with you setanta, I don't see Nadal getting back to his best in the future, I always knew he would burn out sooner or later. He just plays too powerfully, he was never going to keep that going for long its a shame because a lot of players are skillful and some are powerful players and I saw Nadal as one of the only men on tour with both attributes. We'll have to see what happens with that knee!
Laura Robson is through to the quarter finals of the girls singles! Woop!

I see that Federer was his usual humble self in the post match interview, blaming his dodgy first set and a half on a ray of sunshine that was coming through onto the court rather than the amazing play of Davydenko who had been absolutely destroying him prior to his horrendous miss at 3-1 and 15-40 in the second set. After that Davydenko just fell apart. I've literally never seen someone implode like that before but fair play to him, he rallied in the fourth and was unlucky not to take it into a 5th set, which I have no doubt he would have won.
Murray wins!!!!!
A few amazing points in that match, Cilic was tired but Murray kept solid and deserved that win. I'm confident about Sunday! :D :D

Mmmm Serena vs Justine. 5 years ago I'd have said it is boring but not anymore. I'm surprised by both of them.
I'm surprised Murray got this far, he deserves tho. But I think Federer-Tsonga is going to be amazing. It will be tough for both of them.
Justine V. Serena will be good.. Not even sure who will win. Serena is the obvious favourite to win but hmmm not sure!
ange7
29-01-2010, 09:23 AM
Tsonga is fun to watch but his tank must be empty after those 5 setters. Poor cilic had 2 5 setters before he met murray and then he crashed in the 4th set. Tsonga will be feeling it by the 3rd set.
One thing is for sure Murray who's had 3 setter matches ( except for his last) will be fresh for his match.
re Serena vs Justine. I think Justine has a great chance. Serena scraped through in her semi while Justine steamed through in 50 mins 6-1 6-0. After that loss in the finals up in Brisbane against kim C, Justine has had a fire in her belly.
setanta
29-01-2010, 10:26 AM
I don't care how tired Tsonga was or how well Federer was playing - that was a pathetic performance from him. He didn't fight at all and allowed Fed to run the show. Very disappointing stuff.

Hmm well Li Na is higher ranked than Zheng Jie and I personally think Li Na is a better player so its hard to assess who's better [Justine or Serena] based on those two. However Justine most definately will have fire in her belly as a result of that loss. After all she should have won that match against Kim but she let it slip.

Its hard to tell what its actually like down there against Federer. After all he is a genius and he clearly knew how to play against Tsonga and drop shoting him seemed the best idea considering his long matches earlier on in the tournament. His tactics are amazing

Nah, Tsonga didn't approach the game in the right manner, playing defensively and quite happy to rally with Federer without showing any kind of aggression. He played into Fed's hands and deserved to be thumped because of his lack of ambition.
Federer should have been out of the tournament last match so no, I don't agree that he gets his tactics right. He's just a winner, that's all. Hate the f£cker.

Usually I don't either, but I have to say I enjoyed how she took on the fav today. She played old school tennis rather than the power game that we're used to now, beating a physically stronger lady with craft and guile. Had a gameplan and ran with it, showing a beautiful touch around the court. Yeah, it was a lovely final.

Just read another fine example of what a douche Federer is on this website.
http://sports.yahoo.com/tennis/blog/busted_racquet/post/Roger-Federer-s-subtle-swipe-at-Rafa-Nadal-s-cla?urn=ten,240301
"On clay you don't need a volley or a serve. You just need legs, an incredible forehand and backhand, and to run after every ball. I'm not trying to take anything from Rafa: He has been successful in other surfaces as well. But on clay you can get away, you can be competitive even with a very incomplete game. I'm not saying it's so simple, but it's too easy."
Said this just before French Open tournament this year. He's scared of Nadal, pure and simple.
MissKittyFantastico
10-06-2010, 02:39 PM
Rafa playing right now at Queens against Istovin :)
Rafa has adapted so well from clay to grass in the past couple of years, I so hope he wipes the floor with Feddy in the final at Wimbledon (or that Roger gets knocked out before the finals like at the French) can't stand that arrogant twonk.
setanta
10-06-2010, 02:49 PM
The records speak for themselves and Federer can't handle it so lowers himself to petty little slags. Well actually, that's what he's always been about but people can't see it cuz they fawn over him while Nadal, the humble young Spaniard just goes about his business.
It's 14-7 in Nadal's favour in head to heads. Nadal has always been competitive against Fed on grass. He actually could have won all three finals at Wimbledon whereas he hockeyed that arrogant douche at Roland Garros, with Fed only winning 4 games against him in a straight sets victory last time around, 6-1 ^-3 6-0 or something ridiculous like that.

Roger never used to be like it until he started winning everything, and people kissing his ass all the time went to his head it seems. He's undoubtedly the greatest player the game has ever seen but I just can't stand the way he blames everything and everyone but himself when he does fail, his attitude is shocking, and don't get me started on his performance at the Australian when he lost to Rafa, totally trying to steal Rafa's moment by bawling like his mother had been shot. Disgusting!
Rafa has the perfect attitude, he's polite, friendly, down to earth, never slates other players unless it's called for, his transference of skills between surfaces is better than anyone's and he is humble in victory and defeat, Perfect ambassador for the game imo.
I hope he stays at #1 for a long time, my only concern is how his knees will hold up when we move into the American hard court season, but he seems just peachy right now :)

It's easy to sound humble and sportsmanlike when you're used to winning all the time, and the arrogance was hidden under the whole myth of Federer, if you know what I mean? People were blind to the douchiness that lay within him but you still glimpsed it on occasion when he had a few digs at other players or commented on issues that had literally nothing to do with him.
Oh, don't get me started on the Australian!! And then how he treated Roddick at Wimbledon was f£cking disgusting. You would have thought he have understood how it feels to be on the other end of it at this stage but it was all about him on that day. Douche!!!!!
I used to like Feddy but his arrogance turned me off him a long time ago now. I actually hate him!
