When is Murray on?

Marc
24-06-2011, 04:33 PM
Murray is on once this Azarenka/Hantuchova match has finished - Hoping for a Hantuchova win!

Glad A Rod is out. Every single american commentator/pundit loves him and really praises him. He's not that good anymore.

He's got Richard Gasquet next who hasn't dropped a set

Richard Gasquet is only still lower in the rankings because of the time he hasn't played,
I think Andy may struggle against him as he was a very formidable player a couple of years ago and also was a semi-finalist at Wimbledon too.

A hard man to beat is Gasquet.

Marc
25-06-2011, 12:54 PM
When Murray has slow matches that are either 4/5 sets people think he isn't that great.

His game play and tactical play is to pretty much wear his opponent down and destroy their game. He's durable and mentally strong. Gasquet is a very tough opponent for Andy, if he manages to win that match then I think he's got a really good chance this year

Great win for Murray.

Del Potro made Nadal look like a normal player.. pushed him well!

Women's game was exciting today! (or poor standard?) Williams' have been out for a long time, I will admit I thought Venus might win it but Pironkova played very well today! Bartoli.. meh I dislike her a lot! Would have preferred Serena to go through. Cibulkova just showing how p*ss poor the womens game is... there hasn't been a grand slam No.1 since Serena and Ana Ivanovic.. and she's now gone t*ts up! The womens game is poor and unpredictable.. however that makes it exciting! - Hoping for Lisicki to win

Really shocked that Federer has gone out, really good match though, Can't really see Fish beating Nadal now.

Well done though to Tsonga,a really gritty effort to win his match..

GSM Murray!

Brilliant match from him, Lopez wasn't at his best I'll give him that.. Murray got a bit of a twinge around his hip hope to god it isn't anything serious! C'mon Murray!

Another steady performance from Murray, if Fish can go on and get a comeback against Nadal as Tsonga did against Federer earlier, that would round-off a great day of Tennis.

Djokovic has got this tournament rapped up

Marc
29-06-2011, 06:08 PM
Nadal serving for it.

I think Djokovic has the best chance he's ever had to win Wimbledon. If he beats Tsonga he'll be the new world no.1

joeysteele
29-06-2011, 06:36 PM
I see Tsonga as the giant killer this year, Djokovic was rather under par this match, I can see Tsonga believing he can beat him and also likely doing so too.
Djokovic will need all his wits about him to get a result against him.

Nice Tennis fact for you all

Tsonga's birthplace is 121 miles closer to London than Andy Murray's and he smiles more.

Sensing some upsets today! Azarenka losing in two to Kvitova. It happened here last year in the third round 7-5 6-0!

I also think Lisicki will have a) nothing to lose b) the crowd on her side c) the power to frustrate Maria. I know she's capable! Just hoping she can put it all together and make it work :)

Don't really see how a tennis player's birthplace's proximity to London is important . Support who you want.. I appreciate the sport as a whole and have admiration for every single player playing at this level... if smiles is your thing, fair enough. We're all different. :/

He didn't say it was important he just said he was born closer to London then Murray was

Soon enough we'll have Liam Broady as our British #1 and everyone will be forgetting about Murray

Well it's a fact about tennis in a tennis thread :idc:

Yes, but an irrelevant one, that's my point. He was insinuating that because Tonga was born closer to London than Murray was and smiles more, English people should support him.
I just think it was a petty comment aimed directly at Murray fans. If you don't see it as that then fair enough... I'm not going to get into an argument about it in a thread which up until now has been a very enjoyable/sporting one. :hmph:
