25-06-2010, 11:56 AM
Poor Isner, is getting beat down, by some unknown dude. ANd the stadium is full LOL! Talk about band wagon!
But seriously, Wimbledon needs to change that 5th set rule. Its ridiculous. Hes played a set that went 79-78 or something, and is expected to play the next day? Thats stupid. I kmnow it was historic, brave etc...But whats the point? Now he is useless, as he should be. They should stop it when it reaches like 15 or 20 at the most. Then hAVE a tie break. At l;east that way, the winner might have an outside chance of being competitive the next mATch. Because right now, its even sad to see him p0lay!

setanta
26-06-2010, 08:51 PM
Nadal struggled through today in 5 sets. He doesn't look quite right at the moment but hopefully a days rest will help with things.

Berdych could honestly win the whole thing with how well he is playing.

I'm happy with this year's champions - both building on their already legendary legacies. Great run both the finalists too - both are too talented to have never reached a Major final, Berdych in particular. And who knows, maybe there will be many more to come his way. For Zvonareva I think it'll remain the pinnacle of her career, but what a nice career she's putting together.

Wouldn;t at all be surprised if we see the two Wimbledon champions being crowned USO champions in a couple of months either. Much more of a task for Nadal, but surely he's got to do it one day.

I can't see Rafa winning at the US Open tbh, by far his weakest surface. That's the title I can see Murray winning first. And Federer will no doubt bounce back.

It is his weakest link in the four slams, but I just reckon he's got such a huge chance to do it this year. He's not carrying an injury *touches wood*, has not played as much so far this year as he has done in previous years and is on a confidence high. Federer is struggling with his back and lack of form, Djokovic is not as relevant as many think he is, Murray has yet to prove himself at this level and the defending champion may have to miss the event all together.

These are his main contenders for the title, although I suppose he could be upset by an in-form Soderling, Tsonga or even Berdych at the quarter final stage.

I don't mean to sound like I'm writing Roger off (I think he's got another 3 or 4 slams left in him), but at the moment he doesn't have the same sense of invincibility. (Cue Federer winning without dropping a set)

No US Open posts yet?

I was there for the first couple of days last week. It was so hot and humid - horrible conditions to watch, let alone play! Tickets for Ashe were a little out of my price range, but with a grounds admission you get access into every other court anyway.

I'm rooting for Nadal to win this year - it's about time he did it and I think now is his best chance to do so. And as for the women, I can't see anyone beating Clijsters at the minute.

Whats people predictions for all the four majors?

I'm going

AO -Nadal- He's on a mission to hold all four I think, when he's in that mood and healthy, noone can beat him.

RG (French Open) Nadal again -He's not called the King of Clay for nothing

Wimbledon- Federer- I think this will be the tournament Federer will be most determined to win this year tbh.

USO- Maybe controversial but I'll say Murray. Just because he has to win one sometime doesn't he? In all seriousness, I think this one is his best chance to win one.

Curious to know what others think

She won a title in Linz at the end of last year and then won a end of tour championships of a collective group of players who had all won titles in 2010. She isn't at her best but she was playing well in the lead up to AO but pulled out because of injury. I'm just shocked she lost, she was all over Makarova. Though she is now in the 4th round having beat Petrova so hats off to her!

Nadal had a mini scare in his second set against Tomic but looks to be on top of things. The men's draw is so exciting! I can see about 8 players capable of winning the title :D I can only see one in the women's; Kim Clijsters. Be good to see how she deals with Makarova in the next round. Li Na is one to watch as well

Big shock today.

Didn't get to see his performance but I'm informed he was carrying a slight injury, despite not saying he had. He's a very gracious loser, he said he didn't want to speak about any injury or any possibility of him having an injury because he didn't want to take anything away from David's victory.

Murray played well, his opponent was tricky, played a different style. I have no idea what will happen in the semi finals. Its too close to call, however I can't wait for them! Very excited :)

Djokovic will definately want this one, it has been Nadal's tournament in recent years and this is one Novak will want to really excel in and take the title.
