You serious? you not been watching this year then? Kerber and Radwanska play some of the best Tennis on the tour and then you have the new Serena and Vika top 2 rivalry, and Kerber v Vika and Radwanska v Sharapova yesterday were amazing, when you look at recent years it's starting to improve a lot
Poor Kerber, shattered.
Hopefully Vika isn't too tired

Please son don't let Vika's Vag cloud your judgement
Watch Ladies Tennis early 2000's around the time when Capriati,Daveport,Clijsters and the Williams Sisters were slugging it out then get back to me
I've enjoyed watching women's tennis evolve since the days of Seles/Graff/Capriati/Davenport
It's changed a fair bit, a lot more power.

Let's be honest Serena has been in better form this year then any other year in her career and the rest are gone so get over it.. can't live in the past just enjoy the greatness of the Radwanska Squat
Marc early 2000s or ladies tennis now??

Honestly, today's tennis is much better quality. The points may be shorter now but we have a nice mix of decent players and despite Serena winning a fair amount last decade, nowadays we have a good mix of champions, makes the game a bit more unpredictable.
Serena now would beat Serena early 2000s

She looks better cause she is under NO pressure from any of her other players
Back then she had to face Venus,Dav and Cap week in week out
I do sort of miss the rivalries from back in the day but I like the diversity of the game nowadays. Radwanska is such a good player but completely contrasts the games of Serena/Azarenka and Li Na and Stosur have a great power and finesse. Schiavone and Errani have been amazing stories for the modern day game of tennis.

In these modern day slow conditions he will never make it big time. If he finally gets his head straight tomic is the only one of the young breed who has the tools
Raonic will be in the top 8 by the end of next year mark my words and Tomic has had an awful year i can't see him going far

Thought i would share my thoughts on yesterday as i know a few of you love to read them.
Firstly yesterday confirmed the * beside Andy's Olympic title sadly. As i said a million times Fed was like a corpse out there and at the very least the Caveman should be joint Gold medal winner with Andy
As for the match itself i actually turned off 10 mins into it not because of the way Fed was playing but because of the DISGUSTING commentary i had to listen too. Which ended with the cringeworthy
Fed is now better then he was in his prime domination years PMSL
The fact that a 32 year Fed DESTROYED a PRIME Andy on a slow court with less rest is the final nail in the Andy is part of this golden era debacle
Federer has had a decent year, really good indoors as well.
I'm surprised he managed to win the second set so easily but fair play to him. There's a reason he's higher ranked than Andy. Novak looks exhausted during this championships, I really wouldn't be surprised if he lost tonight

My heart says Fed but my head say's Novak. You said Novak has looked tired BUT Fed has looked TERRIBLE including the start of yesterday's match. Add to the fact Novak has had that extra time to rest aswell as the slower court condtions it will be tough for the GOAT
If the match goes 3 sets Novak will win Fed needs to win in 2 IMHO

Correction AMAZINGyear. He has won a couple of Masters titles aswell as another Grand slam at the age of 31 against what many call the Golden ERA. Touch wood he wins tonight and makes it 7 WTF chmapionships
GOATS GONNA GOAT
this season can't really be called the golden era, because the top man has been injured, don't really follow tennis but, injury's have hampered nadal from dominating this sport,
i saw the murray vs djokovic game this year, i think it was u s final, that was the best tennis match i've ever seen, some of the rally's were unreal, both men's leg's were jelly at the end of the match.
and that's all my contribution to the tennis thread for this year.

Was depressing watching Fed lose nadal style cause he plays the much harder to execute single handed backward. On all the key points novak just went to the backward shot after shot. Once that went the serve and forehead cracked in the second.

Organisers say Serena Williams will take part in this month’s Brisbane International tennis tournament despite undergoing minor surgery on her problematic feet.
The 15-time Grand Slam winner has withdrawn from an exhibition match in Thailand following the surgery but Brisbane International tournament director Cameron Pearson says he’s been assured by Williams’ agent that the superstar will compete at Pat Rafter Arena.
“She’ll be fit and ready for Brisbane,” Pearson told AAP on Thursday.
“She just needed a little bit more time than what the Thailand exhibition match gave her to be ready.
“I guess it’s a bit of a compliment that she wants to tailor her preparation around playing Brisbane.”
Time for Vika to take advantage of the weak and vulnerable Serena

Rafael Nadal will miss Australian Open as virus hits injury recovery
Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from next month's Australian Open because his recovery from a persistent knee injury has been hampered by a stomach virus.
Former world number one Nadal, 26, has suffered from tendonitis in his left knee since losing in the second round of Wimbledon in June.
The injury forced the Spaniard, who has won 11 Grand Slam events, to withdraw from both London 2012 and the US Open.
He also pulled out of an exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi on 27 December.
"My knee is much better and the rehabilitation process has gone well, as predicted by the doctors, but this virus didn't allow me to practise this past week," Nadal said in a statement.
"Therefore I am sorry to announce that I will not play in Doha and the Australian Open, as we had initially scheduled."
Nadal, who won the Australian Open in 2009, also withdrew from this year's ATP World Tour Finals in London.
The world number four had announced on Tuesday on his Facebook page that he had been advised to rest while he recovers from a fever caused by the stomach infection.
Nadal said it was a difficult decision to pull out of his third consecutive Grand Slam through injury.
"You need your body to be at its best for the Australian Open," he told the Australian Open website. "It was a difficult decision and I am extremely disappointed to be missing such a great event."
The left-hander now hopes to return at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel event in Acapulco which starts on 25 February.
"It hurts to have to wait another 12 months before I get another chance [but] in the meantime, the focus is now on desperately trying to get back on the tour," he said.
Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley said: "It is completely understandable and we really feel disappointed for him."

Served up an OBE: Andy Murray honoured in the Queen's New Year list
Scotland's tennis star follows up Olympic and US Open titles with an OBE on the Queen's New Year Honours list
Olympic and US Open champion Andy Murray has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's New Year Honours following a year to remember for the Scottish tennis superstar.
The 25-year-old was one of a host of sporting stars to receive honours as part of a special list rewarding British athletes who excelled at the London Olympics and Paralympics.
Murray went into the Games still looking to win one of tennis' biggest titles after falling just short at Wimbledon in July.
The Scot reached the final for the first time, ending a 74-year wait for a home men's singles finalist, but was beaten in four sets by Roger Federer.
Murray reacted in superb fashion, though, beating Novak Djokovic to guarantee himself a first Olympic medal and then handing Federer his worst defeat on grass to clinch gold in the men's singles on Wimbledon's Centre Court.
Murray almost made it two gold medals on the same day but had to settle for silver in the mixed doubles with Laura Robson.
The hope was the success would spur him on to break his grand slam duck, and he did just that at the first opportunity by winning the US Open in New York.
The Wimbledon final was the fourth slam showpiece Murray had lost but he matched coach Ivan Lendl in winning at the fifth time of asking with a five-set victory over Djokovic.
Murray revealed after his triumph that his friends had been teasing him about the possibility of a knighthood - something he definitely was not expecting.
The world number three said: "A lot of my friends have been messaging me about it and I don't really know what to say. I think it should take more than one or two good tournaments to deserve something like that. It would probably be a bit rash."
The OBE is the first honour Murray, who survived the school shooting in his home town of Dunblane as a child, has received.

Great stuff. They can Knight him when he retires and he wins a couple more slams tbh. :worship:
Think he's got a pretty good chance of winning the Australian Open but he can never seem to beat Djokovic and he looks like he's on form at the minute judging from his match with Ferrer so i'd still put him as a strong favorite
Novak wins.
Don't even know why Almagro was chosen as the replacement, perhaps he was already in Abu Dhabi at the time.

Vika is the best returner in the game unless she is playing Serena so Lisicki's only half decent weapon will be countered easily
