'Hollyoaks': Gemma Bissix teases Clare Devine's shock return

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/12/618x495/soaps-hollyoaks-gemma-bissix-clare-devine.jpg

Hollyoaks reintroduces one of its most memorable characters next week as Clare Devine arrives back in the village.

Clare makes a surprise appearance after seeing Mercedes McQueen and Doctor Browning in Las Vegas. With Mercedes now missing and someone sending threats to Browning, there are no prizes for guessing who the culprit might be…

Digital Spy recently caught up with Gemma Bissix, who plays Clare, to hear all the gossip on her Hollyoaks return.

How does it feel to be back on Hollyoaks?
"I really wasn't sure how it was going to feel, but it's just been so lovely to be back at work there. I've loved seeing all the crew and catching up with cast members I worked with the first time round, like Nick Pickard, Jimmy McKenna and James Sutton.

"It's also been great because of the character herself - I'd forgotten how evil she really was! It's quite scary how quickly I've slipped back into it, but I'm absolutely loving it."

When you were approached to return, did you have to give the idea some consideration?
"Well, I've got such a lot of trust in Bryan Kirkwood, who's back as executive producer of Hollyoaks. He did some amazing work on Clare's storylines before, so when I heard that he was coming back, it really was a no-brainer. I almost said yes straight away!

"I did have an idea of what Clare's storylines would be, but even without that, I've got a lot of faith in Bryan. The show is going from strength to strength with him back at the helm, so it didn't take much consideration at all."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/12/618x677/soaps-hollyoaks-gemma-bissix-clare-devine-2.jpg

Had you ever turned down a return to Hollyoaks prior to this?
"I haven't - I've always had a great relationship with Hollyoaks and absolutely loved it. If there had ever been scope for a return before, I think I would have gone back earlier, but I don't think there really was.

"Brendan's had such a long reign as top dog in the village, so I don't think there was ever going to be room for him and Clare in one place! He's been such a fantastic character for the show over the years.

"Also, I've been busy doing my own thing away from Hollyoaks. I've been doing theatre and other projects, which I've really enjoyed. The reason I left Hollyoaks the first time was because I felt that Clare had done so much and it was great to leave on a high. There wasn't much scope for her to come back for a while, but now people may have forgotten just how bad she was, so it's nice to reprise the role.

"That's the reaction that I'm seeing on Twitter, too. Most of the fans seem to be really excited about Clare coming back."

What did the producers tell you about Clare's return before you started filming?
"They gave me a good idea of her storylines straight away. Originally Clare was only going to be back for a short time, which is what you'll be seeing now - it's 'part one'! It's a bit of a teaser, because you see Clare come in for just a few weeks.

"But there are discussions going on now and Bryan wants to make it very public that Clare is back to stay. I'm going to be back over the summer and that'll be on a more permanent basis.

"I'm still doing a bit of theatre at the moment, so it's a case of mixing it up and juggling schedules. It's been nice for me to do this initial stint, because it's gone really well. But you're going to see a 'part two' for Clare, without a doubt!"

Has Hollyoaks changed much in your absence?
"The only thing that's really changed is that I used to be the 22-year-old in the green room, whereas now I'm pushing 30 and everyone else is so young! So that's probably one of the main things! (Laughs.)

"With all the crew, people who were camera assistants or camera people are now directors. I've seen that various people have risen through the ranks or changed positions, and it's really nice that Lime Pictures as a company do that. They really look after their own and recognise the talent within the crew. That's very noticeable, because there's such a lovely atmosphere on set."

Have you made some friends among the newer cast members?
"Definitely. Joe Thompson, who plays Doctor Browning, is absolutely lovely. He's a very good actor and we've really clicked.

"At the moment, I'm doing an Agatha Christie play called A Murder is Announced, and Joe came to see it in Crewe which was really nice of him. He really likes theatre, and it was also nice for him to see why I was so shattered every day when we were filming!

"I'm picking up some other friends, too. Alex Fletcher, who plays Diane, is lovely, so I've been chatting to her. I also went to the TRIC Awards last week with a few of the other cast members, so that was also really nice because they all seem lovely and very down-to-earth."

We hear that you've also been filming some scenes with Ellis Hollins who plays Tom. Have you enjoyed seeing him again?
"Absolutely. He's 13 now, but I gave him a massive cuddle - I didn't care if I embarrassed him! Fortunately he didn't mind, he's really sweet. I said to him, 'Do you remember how evil I was?' but he just said, 'No, you were dead nice!'

"I used to get on really well with Ellis and we'd play games all the time on set. I'm the eldest of five kids, so I've always loved children. He couldn't remember me being horrible to him on screen, which was good because I thought I might have scarred the poor boy! (Laughs.)

"I used to have to ring his mum and ask, 'Can I really say these things to him?!' Clare said some really horrible things to Tom, telling him that he was the reason his dad died. She did some horrendous things.

"Ellis has grown up to be such a lovely young boy. You can sometimes see that young kids can get affected by fame, but he's not at all - he's so courteous and lovely on set. I think he's the protégé of Hollyoaks as he represents what the show is about so well."

How much you can tell us about Clare's return storyline?
"The only thing I can really say is that Clare saw Doctor Browning and Mercedes in Las Vegas. She's back because she wants Browning's money and she'll do anything to get it!

"But it's also worth remembering that Clare is a very unsettled woman. I don't think she's ever really settled anywhere for very long. Even though she caused a lot of trouble when she was there, she feels an attachment to the Hollyoaks village. She was there for two and a half years, which is probably longer than she's settled anywhere else."

"Clare is quite happy to be back, as she feels it's a little village she can take control of."

Has Clare met her match in Browning? He's a dangerous character himself!
"I think Clare definitely underestimates Browning. You'll have to see how it pans out, but she doesn't realise what he's capable of and he catches her off guard a few times. But I'd like to think that Clare's always the one to come out on top - at least for now!"

Does Clare return to the village all guns blazing, or lie low for a while?
"She does lie low - it's a case of dark glasses and a scarf for a while! (Laughs.) Obviously she doesn't want anyone to know who she is, as that would give the game away. She's a bit shifty and sneaky here and there, at least for now."

Has Clare changed much?
"I think she's definitely grown up. She was a lot younger before, but now she knows exactly what she wants and there's no two ways about it.

"Clare makes it quite clear to Browning what she wants and what she's there for. She's more sure of herself than before. Previously, she was a bit manic but now her actions are a bit more cold and calculated. She's been to prison and she's wised up a bit."

As you mentioned, you've been very busy in theatre over the past few years. Do you prefer stage or screen work now?
"Well, I never went to drama school and I started in EastEnders when I was nine. I've done it backwards in a way, so I really wanted to learn what it was like to do stage work and have that rehearsal time.

"I do love the theatre, but I really couldn't say whether I prefer stage or screen work, as I love them both. With theatre, you get an instant response from the audience, which is great, and it's such a buzz.

"But with a character like this in Hollyoaks, it's more of a buzz than I can tell you because the pace is incredible. I couldn't even begin to tell you the stuff that I've done over the past few weeks - there's been physical stuff, stunts and lots of other exciting things!"

Can't wait. Bring it on:amazed::devil:.

'Hollyoaks' Jeremy Sheffield: 'Patrick likes to manipulate'

Hollyoaks star Jeremy Sheffield has warned that his character Patrick Blake may show a manipulative side when he finds love in the village.

The actor confirmed that romance is on the horizon for Patrick, who looks likely to become a more prominent character over the next few months.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/12/618x578/soaps-hollyoaks-jeremy-sheffield-patrick-blake.jpg

Sheffield told Inside Soap: "I know who he gets together with! There's a certain type of relationship dynamic Patrick seems to enjoy - he likes to manipulate someone a bit.

"Therefore, he would be into anyone who's pliable, who he could dominate in some way. But I think it's best to leave it to the viewers' imagination as to who that might be."

Sheffield added that he was pleased to see Patrick take over as headteacher at the Hollyoaks sixth form college earlier this year.

Asked whether he could do the job in real life, he replied: "I do quite enjoy the power of it! My mum used to be deputy head of a big comprehensive school, so I went on a few school trips with her when I was younger - all the kids were looking up to her and trembling in their boots. I would quite enjoy that!

"But I think I'd probably be a bit too lenient - not like Patrick."

Hollyoaks fans will be left wondering whether Patrick has a dark side this week after his ex Anna claims that he was an abusive partner.

Didn't like today's ep really. After the big drama to see Brendan sitting there casually in hospital was a bit wrong. Ste's whining and crying was just annoying. Brendan and Cheryl's exit was emotional:(. What a twist with Brendan going to jail, but I would have preferred him dying tbh because it would have been in sync with what a tragic character he was but he made the ultimate sacrifice for Cheryl.

I am delighted that Cheryl got a happy ending with the dance and with Nate:D. I like Brendan, but have always preferred her.

I wish Emmett and Bronagh lots of luck after HO they were fantastic, plus Kieron Richardson, Fintan McKeown, Tom Turner and Neil Newbon deserve lots of praise too.

I wasn't a big Stendan fan but will miss Kieron and Emmett's on screen dynamic and all the Irish clan in Hollyoaks too!

Hollyoaks favourite Brendan Brady went out on a high on Thursday evening (March 21) as E4's first look screening was boosted by his exit from the soap, overnight figures show.

993k (4.7%) tuned in to E4 at 7pm and 187k (0.8%) on +1 to see if Brendan would survive after being shot by a sniper.

The rating was the second-highest of the year so far for Hollyoaks' E4 first look slot, charting just behind the aftermath of Esther's suicide attempt in January.

Earlier, 990k (5.1%) watched Brendan's dangerous stand-off with police in the traditional 6.30pm slot on Channel 4, while 103k (0.5%) tuned in on +1.

Decent ratings:), slight drop from a million.

'Hollyoaks' bonus chat: Bronagh Waugh on Cheryl, Seamus twist and more

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/11/618x586/soaps-hollyoaks-cheryl-brady-bronagh-waugh.jpg

With the Bradys' final week on Hollyoaks now sadly at an end, Digital Spy can bring you some extra bonus snippets from our recent interview with Bronagh Waugh, who played Cheryl.

Here, Bronagh reveals that the dramatic twist of Cheryl killing her evil father Seamus was her idea, and explains why she pitched the suggestion to the show's bosses.

Now that we've seen your final scenes, can you tell us what you thought of the Bradys' exit?
"Well, what happened was myself and Emmett actually pitched the idea of this exit storyline together, so we knew how it was going to play out for a long time. Leaving was a decision we made together and we knew this storyline would be the end of the line for both of us. But the story was just so good.

"It was actually Emma Smithwick, the previous producer, who we pitched the idea to, and she thought it was fantastic. Bryan Kirkwood has been a huge part of it as well. Emma and Bryan worked on it together before Emma left, and they both agreed it would be a great way for us to go."

So Cheryl shooting Seamus was your idea?
"Yes, it was my idea. Everyone always sees Cheryl as so naïve and so vulnerable. But when you think about it, she was so ballsy and strong when she first came into the show. Cheryl's love for her brother is so strong, but she's missed this massive part of his life for so long.

"We needed to have a massive pay-off, so I wanted it to be the ultimate story of Cheryl protecting Brendan. I think it makes up for all the times that she buried her head in the sand and missed things, like the clues pointing to the abuse.

"I think the shooting was an example of the real biological love that is held together by blood. You have that animalistic instinct to protect your brother. Cheryl knew she had to protect him in that instant, but then her whole world fell apart and she didn't know what to do next.

"It was important for me to take Cheryl further, because I was tired of her always burying her head in the sand and not seeing things, because I think she's smarter than that."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/10/618x416/soaps-hollyoaks-3563-4.jpg

Do you think Cheryl will come to regret her actions?
"I don't think she'll ever regret what she did, because ultimately she got rid of somebody who had so badly damaged her brother. It's a huge shock to discover that the father you loved so deeply and sought approval from this monster. I think if Cheryl could do it again, she would.

"However, Cheryl would feel incredibly guilty about Brendan going down. That's the hardest thing to cope with - that Brendan wants to make the ultimate sacrifice by protecting her, because she's got her whole life ahead of her. What eats her up the most is knowing that her brother is doing time."

Would you return to Hollyoaks?
"Bryan's been amazing and has left it open for me. I would never say never about going back to Hollyoaks."

Would you like another action-type role after this week's scenes?
"I'd love to wield a gun again! Doing it in my final week on Hollyoaks gave me a taste to do a bit of action. I'd love to play a really tough female cop. I think that'd be really fun."

Do you have any final thoughts?
"I've love to extend a great big thank you to Digital Spy and everyone on the forums, because everyone's always been so supportive over the years. I'm really grateful for that - everyone's just been fab!"

Interesting that Emmett and Bronagh had input into the exits with the Producers, although some people are not happy with them and are blaming just TPTB at Hollyoaks.

Cheryl will go down as one of my favourite all time characters and Bronagh is lovely, a fab Actress too:).

'Hollyoaks': Steven Roberts teases shock George, Ste storyline

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/12/618x485/soaps-hollyoaks-steven-roberts-george-smith.jpg

Hollyoaks sixth former George Smith is left heartbroken next week as Ste Hay rejects him following a one-night stand.

The surprising storyline begins when a well-meaning George offers comfort to Ste (Kieron Richardson) following Brendan Brady's dramatic departure, but with both in a vulnerable state, they end up in bed together.

While George sees the encounter as the start of a proper relationship, he's in for a nasty surprise when Ste is adamant that it meant nothing. Struggling with the rejection, will George be able to cope?

Digital Spy recently caught up with Steven Roberts, who plays George, to hear how the story plays out.

Were you surprised when you heard about the George and Ste storyline?
"I was surprised, and I understand that for some fans this one-night stand between George and Ste might be absolute sacrilege! But I'd almost ask that the fans look past however 'wrong' or 'random' this seems, and look at it more as a catalyst for what's to come for both characters.

"For Ste, it's very much the beginning of a downward spiral. For George, it's an awakening to men and to his sexual identity, which he's never really had before."

Were you told about the storyline quite far in advance?
"Not really. At any one time, we're about six weeks ahead of transmission and it wasn't something that was talked about much beforehand. I just read it in the scripts and found out that way! I had heard some murmurs beforehand, but you hear a lot of murmurs on set and you never know what's actually going to come to fruition."

Is George quite vulnerable in these scenes?
"Well, I think George has always struggled with having a sexual identity. He's always just been a good friend to everyone else - trying to cheer people up and be there for other people. However, his romances have always been a bit doomed. With Ryan in Abersoch last year, it was never really meant to be, as George was quite scared by it all.

"George has also been through the sexual trafficking experience with Deena, so there are negative connotations for him when it comes to having a sexual identity. This is why George has built it up as such a massive thing to lose his virginity. When Ste doesn't want to know the next day, it's all the more heartbreaking for him."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/11/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-3566-1.jpg

The story starts with George finding a drunken Ste outside the pub and helping him home. Does George have any idea of what's going to happen next at that point?
"Definitely not. What's happened is that Phoebe has stolen a bottle of wine from The Dog, and George has had a few swigs of that. He's not drunk but he's a little bit tipsy.

"George then sees Ste and notices that he looks very lonely and upset. With the person George is, there's nothing predatory or devious about it at all - he just thinks to get him home. Then at the flat, Ste offers George a couple of drinks. The beer goggles are on, one thing leads to another and Ste leans in to kiss George…"

After they've slept together, does George see this as the start of something?
"Yes, George is very much taken away by this whirlwind romance. He's finally lost his virginity - which is a big thing for a lot of teenagers, as you want it to be special. George just assumes that it was special, but when Ste doesn't want to know, the whole experience becomes tainted for George."

Does Ste let George down gently?
"Well, first of all, Ste makes George feel quite unwelcome the next morning. George doesn't really think anything of it, though. He goes back home to the Kanes' and tells them that he's met someone, although he doesn't say who. George is very excited about it, so Martha encourages him to get back out there and claim his man, in typical Martha style!

"George goes back to the deli, but Ste is quite embarrassed to see him again because Doug is there. In the end, it leads to George being chucked out of the deli into the village!"

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/11/618x441/soaps-hollyoaks-3566-2.jpg

What happens next?
"The whole week is a whirlwind and it makes George re-address everything. He's even unsure of whether he wants to carry on studying fashion, as his whole world has been turned upside down. Something that he thought was so special has been ruined. He's done it now - he can't go back and he can't change it."

Later in the week, Phoebe finds out how George has been treated - but assumes John Paul is the guy in question and vengefully mugs him! How does George react?
"I think George feels quite bad for John Paul! He feels awful when John Paul is brought into the frame, because it had nothing to do with him."

You haven't really had any scenes with Kieron before. What was he like to work with?
"Kieron's great. He's a lovely guy and very professional, so I loved working with him."

Would you like George to find a guy he can be happy with?
"I think it'd be nice to see him happy. George had a lot of upset last year and lately we've seen a chirpier side to him. Whether he can be happy, I suppose we'll just have to wait and see!"

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/12/618x459/soaps-hollyoaks-steven-roberts-george-smith-2.jpg

Our readers seem to like it when the Deena situation is brought up again, as we saw with Phoebe and Mercedes recently. Would you like that to keep cropping up?
"Definitely, as it's a big part of George and Phoebe's background and it's what makes them so strong as a unit. It will always be a big part of them and if it gets revisited again then that'd be great.

"George and Phoebe are really good for each other and they bring out different sides of each other, too. Whereas George encourages Phoebe to be part of the gang, Phoebe calms him down and roots him in reality a lot of the time. They've got a good balance between them."

Is it strange to have lost some of your on-screen colleagues with the dramatic exits of Maddie, Neil and Jono last year?
"It's certainly different, but I think the show is changing in quite a few ways. It's great how it's going back to family units, and I also like how we're seeing characters crossing paths within the small village.

"Obviously Ste and George is one that a lot of people didn't expect, and the interactions won't all be like that - everyone won't start suddenly jumping into bed with each other! But it's nice to see different characters interacting and the dynamics that brings."

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/40/618x411/soaps_hollyoaks_fancy_dress_bts_5.jpg

How did you feel about the Esther bullying storyline and George's role within that?
"I thought the storyline itself panned out great. George didn't have much to do with the storyline at first, because it was crucial to show the actual bullying. If George had been there, he probably would have stepped in a lot earlier, so he was off doing his studies and wasn't so involved.

"I would have been disappointed if George had joined in the bullying. I don't think we can say he did that, but sometimes people can be guilty of letting things slip by. George, and all of the characters to an extent, were guilty of that.

"I was glad to see George come in at the end and show support for Esther, but in some ways it was too little, too late. But that's where the drama came from and it would have been wrong to have George and Phoebe there throughout.

"Also, some of their bullying was quite underhand, conniving and tactical. The bullies would put on a different face when George was around - particularly Maddie. George never saw through Maddie's façade until the very end. I think that's because George does see the best in people and he doesn't like confrontation."

Would you like the sixth formers to somehow find out about Maddie leaving Neil to die in the bus crash?
"I don't really know how that would come out, but in a way I think it's nice for the viewers to have things that they know but the characters don't. But if it ever did come out, it'd probably be quite explosive!"

'Hollyoaks': Nick Pickard wants Tony career change

Hollyoaks star Nick Pickard has revealed that he wants his character Tony Hutchinson to become a chef again.

Next week's episodes see Tony start making plans to resurrect his old Il Gnosh restaurant business, but whether he will have enough money for the project remains to be seen.

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/20/618x445/tony-2.jpg

Il Gnosh was destroyed in a deadly fire in 2010, and the building has since housed a number of other businesses including the Cinergy spa and new gym Atwell's.

Pickard told Digital Spy: "I hope Tony is successful with bringing back Il Gnosh, because I don't think he's ever been happy running the gym. It was one of those things where Cindy wanted it more than him, so he did it for her.

"It would be nice to see the restaurant back, but Tony's finances are slightly in trouble at the minute, so we'll have to see where that goes!

"I really enjoyed working in that restaurant environment, though. You've always got something to do and there's always something going on. I also love cooking in real life, so it's nice when you tie the two together.

"I also think Il Gnosh gives the village a nice place where they can come and eat. It's a good place for characters to hang out, congregate and tell tales of woe!"

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/40/618x441/soaps_hollyoaks_3453_2.jpg

Pickard also hinted that Hollyoaks bosses have lined up a major storyline for Tony, who has been part of the show since episode one in 1995.

He said: "It's a very big year ahead for Tony, which is very good for me. I'm really looking forward to it. It'll actually be one of my biggest years, this year."

Il Gnosh coming back will be great. Tony was awesome as a Chef and I am glad that he will have some big storylines coming up because Nick Pickard is a very good Actor.

'Hollyoaks' leads 2013 All About Soap Award winners

Hollyoaks was the most successful show in the 2013 All About Soap Awards.

The Channel 4 drama claimed three prizes in the public voting, pulling ahead of EastEnders and Emmerdale, which secured two gongs each.

Hollyoaks favourites Emmett Scanlan and Kieron Richardson were among the winners, picking up the 'Forbidden Lovers' award for their portrayal of Brendan Brady and Ste Hay's intense relationship.

News of the pair's success comes just as viewers have seen Scanlan's dramatic final scenes in the role of Brendan this week.

Speaking of the triumph, Scanlan commented: "It's just incredible. Out of all my awards, this was the one I was most confident about because I know how hardcore the Stendan fans are. It's nice to have this trophy too, because this is the final chapter.

"Their bond was destructive at times, but in Steven, Brendan found true love. The feelings were so strong - Brendan even killed for him. They certainly weren't your conventional couple, but who is?"

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/38/618x429/soaps_hollyoaks_3441_4.jpg

Richardson added: "If I could snog every single person who voted for us I would! We're chuffed that people have taken Ste and Brendan into their hearts."

Hollyoaks also won the 'Best Stunt' trophy for the wedding day bus crash and the 'Best Storyline' title for Esther Bloom's tragic bullying ordeal.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/01/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-3520-2.jpg

Jazmine Franks, who plays Esther, said: "We all worked so hard, so to get this recognition is great. I'm so grateful to everyone who voted, and it makes it even more special that the viewers are behind Esther."

Meanwhile, EastEnders was successful in the 'Best Reveal' category as the unexpected arrival of Max's secret wife Kirsty (Kierston Wareing) proved popular with voters.

Jake Wood, who plays Max, enthused: "We're both absolutely over the moon - I'm thrilled for Kierston as it's her first award. I'd known what Max's secret was going to be for over a year, so I'm just pleased it's out in the open now and I can relax!"

Walford's second winner was the ongoing Lola and Lexi storyline, which was named 'Best Baby Drama'.

Emmerdale picked up the 'Best Episode' award for its hour-long 40th anniversary live edition, while Carl King's shock murder in the special broadcast was named 'Best Death'.

Finally, Coronation Street also earned a prize as Kirsty and Tyrone's nuptials triumphed in the 'Best Wedding' voting.

The next issue of All About Soap, which goes on sale on Tuesday (March 26), will celebrate the results with exclusive pictures and interviews with the winners.

Big spoiler...

'Hollyoaks' confirms testicular cancer storyline

Hollyoaks businessman Tony Hutchinson will be diagnosed with testicular cancer in a forthcoming storyline.

Nick Pickard, who plays the long-standing character, has already begun filming the emotional plot and viewers will see Tony receive his diagnosis in early May.

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/20/618x445/tony-2.jpg

Show bosses and the Hollyoaks story team have thoroughly researched the illness in recent months, and are hoping that Tony's storyline will help to raise awareness among the public.

Pickard commented: "I am really excited and hugely honoured to be involved in this upcoming storyline for Tony. As an actor you really want to portray dramatic stories that you can really get your teeth into and that strike a chord with the audience.

"Tony's diagnosis will certainly challenge me as an actor and I hope will raise awareness of this particular type of male cancer."

According to Cancer Research UK, around 2,090 men in the UK are diagnosed with testicular cancer each year.

The illness is one of the most treatable types of cancer, with research suggesting that over 95% of men will be cured if diagnosed and treated in the early stages.

Tony has been part of Hollyoaks since the first episode in 1995 and viewers can expect him to be prominent on screen as the storyline plays out over the next few months.

Pickard told Digital Spy this week: "It's a very big year ahead for Tony, which is very good for me. I'm really looking forward to it. It'll actually be one of my biggest years, this year."

George is young and naive and I can understand Ste's emotions are all over the place about Brendan leaving, so I get why the one night stand happened although Ste is being horrible to poor George and trying to act like a mini Brendan LOL.

Nancy's painkiller addiction storyline will get interesting. Frankie is getting better with Esther and I am liking Esther's scenes with Ruby.

'Hollyoaks': John Paul and Doug grow closer

Hollyoaks favourite John Paul McQueen has something to smile about next month as things begin to hot up between him and Doug Carter, but his good mood may not last for long.

Following weeks of chemistry between the pair, John Paul (James Sutton) and Doug (PJ Brennan) get drunk together towards the end of next week - and are unable to resist playing a harmless prank on sixth form headteacher Patrick Blake.

As JP and Doug stick post-it notes all over Patrick's car, they're unaware that they're being photographed by Callum Kane and troublesome new student Robbie Roscoe.

With sparks flying, the village's new couple kiss and head back to the lads' pad together…

'Hollyoaks': Jacqui McQueen confesses secret to Tony Hutchinson

Hollyoaks fans see Jacqui McQueen and Tony Hutchinson grow closer again next week, but a secret from Jacqui's past could throw a spanner in the works.

Over the next few days, it becomes increasingly clear that Tony (Nick Pickard) isn't over Jacqui (Claire Cooper) - and he shows just how much he cares about her by trying to resolve her ongoing problems with Trudy Ryan.

With Trudy (Danniella Westbrook) still proving to be a malevolent presence in Jacqui's life, Tony resorts to bribery as he offers the scheming blonde money to leave Jacqui alone.

Hoping they've seen the back of Trudy, Tony later joins Jacqui at a special costume party being held at Chez Chez - dressed as a US Navy officer!

The pair seem loved up again at the bash, but what they don't realise is that Trudy isn't finished with them yet.

Returning to the flat to find that it's been ransacked as a warning from Trudy, Tony and Jacqui wonder what it will take to get rid of her.

Wanting to be honest with Tony, Jacqui finally tells him the shocking details of exactly what happened with her and Trudy when they were in prison together.

While show bosses are keeping Jacqui's secret under wraps, Tony is shocked by what she has to say - so it's anyone's guess how he'll respond when Jacqui then asks him whether he still wants to be with her…

Interesting! I wonder what Jacqui's big secret is?

'Hollyoaks' Leanne to discover Will's manipulation of Texas

Hollyoaks' Leanne will discover Will's dark secret in the next few weeks, before trying to kiss him.

Leanne (Jessica Forest) is originally horrified when she stumbles upon Will's (James Atherton) stash of notebooks and DVDs documenting Texas's every movement, All About Soap reports.

http://i2.cdnds.net/11/39/soaps_hollyoaks_charity_ball_11.jpg

The shock discovery comes just after Leanne announces that she's arranged Will and Texas's wedding to take place in four weeks' time and is thrilled when she is asked to be maid of honour.

With everyone busy planning for the wedding, Leanne finds a notebook that belongs to Will - followed by a shoebox full of DVDs of CCTV footage of his bride-to-be. She angrily confronts Will over his spying but he manages to make her believe that he is keeping an eye on Texas because he loves her.

Leanne then falls for his lies and ends up being reminded of how she felt when she was in love with Lee.

In a bizarre twist, a confused Leanne then realises that she has been harbouring feelings for Will herself before attempting to kiss him.

Mercedes attempts to call the deal off, but Clare is having none of it and knocks Mercedes unconscious. However, Clare gets a shock when an angry Browning arrives in her hotel room, demanding to know where Mercedes is.

Convinced that Clare is lying to him, Browning starts to strangle her but he is interrupted by Jim McGinn.

Escaping the violent clutches of Dr Browning, Clare sends a video message of a bruised and battered Mercedes, causing the McQueens to go into melt-down.

Realising her sister is in serious danger, Jacqui (Claire Cooper) then resorts to desperate measures to raise the £200k ransom, and goes back to work for Trudy.

'Hollyoaks' Gemma Bissix 'can't wait' to work with Gillian Taylforth

Hollyoaks returnee Gemma Bissix has revealed that she can't wait to work with former EastEnders star Gillian Taylforth.

The 29-year-old actress, who has recently returned to the Channel 4 soap to reprise her role as Clare Devine, has said she thinks Taylforth will bring "a dose of grit and glamour" to the show.

Speaking to Female First, she said: "I can't wait! She's lovely and a fantastically talented actress.

"I think she's going to bring a dose of grit and glamour to Hollyoaks."

Taylforth, who is known for her role as Kathy Beale in EastEnders, has been signed up for the part of Sandy Roscoe, who will be joining the show with five sons in a few weeks' time.

Bissix also revealed that she has enjoyed being reunited with her old co-stars since her return.

She explained: "It's been lovely. I've been filming with Nick Pickard (Tony Hutchinson) and Jimmy McKenna (Jack Osborne), who are two of my best friends.

"Clare is ready to cause trouble. She's not in Hollyoaks for a holiday, put it that way."

I agree with Gemma:).

'Hollyoaks' Amy Downham: 'Patrick turns scary with Jen'

Hollyoaks star Amy Downham has revealed that Patrick Blake becomes "quite scary" in an upcoming argument with her character Jen Gilmore.

Art teacher Jen faces a tough time on screen next week as her secret relationship with student Tilly Evans (Lucy Dixon) is finally exposed to everyone at the sixth form college.

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/30/618x460/jen-gilmore.jpg

Jen holds out hope that she can save her career once the truth is out, but her attempts to seek forgiveness from strict headteacher Patrick backfire.

Downham told Digital Spy: "He's quite frightening! Patrick threatens Jen, and you definitely see the beginning of a different side to him in that scene.

"Jen is quite shocked by that, as to begin with, you might think that Patrick is what the college needs - he's got power, he's got control and he's got some good ideas.

"Jen tries to lie her way back into the college or into another job. But Patrick says, 'If you ever come near my students again, I'll do whatever it takes to keep you away'. It's quite scary."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/12/618x578/soaps-hollyoaks-jeremy-sheffield-patrick-blake.jpg

Patrick (Jeremy Sheffield) appeared to be a charming character when he joined Hollyoaks last year, but show bosses will continue to explore his darker side over the next few weeks.

Viewers have already seen glimpses of a sinister nature to Patrick in scenes with his ex-wife Anna, who is terrified of him.

'Hollyoaks': Meet newcomer Robbie Roscoe

These are the first pictures of Hollyoaks newcomer Robbie Roscoe, who makes his debut on screen next week.

Robbie is a new student for the sixth form college, who quickly causes a stir with some bad boy antics.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/13/618x699/soaps-hollyoaks-charlie-wernham-robbie-roscoe.jpg

lthough strict headteacher Patrick Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) reckons he can handle Robbie, the teenager wastes little time before getting up to no good - trashing a display at the deli and framing Callum Kane (Laurie Duncan) for it.

Callum finds himself in trouble with Patrick thanks to Robbie's stunt, but the lads look likely to still become friends as Robbie focuses his efforts on leading Callum astray.

Robbie is played by Charlie Wernham, who first hit screens performing as a comedian on the second series of Britain's Got Talent in 2008.

Since Britain's Got Talent, Wernham has branched out into acting with roles on E4's School of Comedy and BBC Three's Bad Education.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/13/618x534/soaps-hollyoaks-charlie-wernham-robbie-roscoe-2.jpg

As fans already know, Robbie's arrival paves the way for a whole family of Roscoes to join the village - headed up by former EastEnders actress Gillian Taylforth, who plays mum Sandy.

'Hollyoaks' James Sutton: 'John Paul will be humiliated'

Hollyoaks star James Sutton has revealed that his character John Paul McQueen does a runner after his new romance leads to trouble.

John Paul grows closer to Doug Carter (PJ Brennan) next week as they team up to play a prank on headteacher Patrick Blake, covering his car in Post-it notes.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/04/618x642/soaps-hollyoaks-james-sutton-john-paul-mcqueen-2.jpg

A drunken John Paul is looking for revenge as Patrick (Jeremy Sheffield) has suspended him from his teaching job at the college, furious that he didn't take action after finding out about Jen Gilmore's affair with Tilly Evans.

Unfortunately, John Paul and Doug's harmless prank backfires as troublesome new student Robbie Roscoe is watching from afar and photographs the whole thing.

Sutton told Soaplife: "The first John Paul realises they've been caught out is when he walks into the college and sees the photos plastered all over the corridors - there are so many of them he can't even take them down.

"They are of him and Doug rolling around kissing on top of Patrick's post-it note covered car. It's not good."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/12/618x452/soaps-hollyoaks-3574-1.jpg

The actor continued: "He doesn't know who [is responsible], but he'd love to find out and make their life a misery. Instead, Patrick sacks him and he's gutted. Everyone's laughing at him, he's humiliated, his reputation is in tatters and he fears he might never teach again.

"John Paul takes baby Matthew and goes to a bus stop in the dead of night and gets on a bus. I don't think he knows where he's going or what he's doing."

The usually-confident English teacher will be hoping to make a fresh start when he eventually heads back to the village.

Asked whether it's already the end of John Paul and Doug's relationship, Sutton replied: "Definitely not. Watch this space."

'Hollyoaks': Amy Downham talks Jen exit, Tilly plot and future plans

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/30/618x538/jen-gilmore-2.jpg

Hollyoaks airs Jen Gilmore's final scenes next week as she bows out from the show after a year on screen.

Earlier this year, the art teacher resorted to desperate measures to cover up her fling with Tilly Evans (Lucy Dixon), falsely accusing the student of harassment. However, her deception can't last forever with Tilly determined to expose the truth...

Digital Spy recently chatted to Amy Downham, who played Jen, to hear about her character's final week on screen and how she felt about moving on from Hollyoaks.

Have you enjoyed your time with Hollyoaks?
"Absolutely, it's been an amazing experience. It's always great for an actor to have a year's contract in a show. It's been really nice to have a character and then follow her journey over a long period. Jen was also a really interesting character to play and I thought her storyline brought up a lot of relevant issues, so it's been brilliant."

How do you feel about leaving the show?
"It's a mixed bag, really! It's sad to leave because it was a really great job and I had a great time there, but I also felt that it was about time for me. I didn't feel horrible about leaving at all, as it was the right time for me and the character.

"Jen couldn't have stayed on the show forever, because essentially what she's done is illegal, so she had to leave. A year is a good amount of time to be in a show like Hollyoaks and Jen certainly went through a lot of turmoil in that year!"

What were your thoughts on the more ruthless side that Jen showed this year?
"I was quite shocked when I first read the scripts! However, Jen spent a lot of her time trying to keep her head above water, and that meant that a lot of lying and deceit was needed. I always thought that Jen did that just to try and survive. I do believe that she loved Tilly, and it was a very important relationship to her. But what she did was illegal, so she had to find a way to not get caught out.

"In the last few episodes, Jen was quite mean to Tilly and made a lot of silly decisions. Essentially it was a relationship that had just gone sour, and I think Jen was in denial that she'd done anything wrong."

Next week's episodes begin with Esther returning to college. Does that worry Jen?
"Yes, I think there's a massive sense of panic, as it's another opportunity for her to get caught out. Esther is the one person who has seen Tilly and Jen together, so it becomes a little bit more real to her that things might come out.

"However, Jen still tries to fight her way through it, and that's when you see a different and more ruthless side to her. She's panicking and trying to keep her head above water."

Tilly later makes sure that the truth about Jen is exposed to everyone. How does Jen react?
"I think the way that we played it was quite nice. Jen has a lot of hate towards Tilly through those last few episodes, and when Tilly outs her, she's heartbroken that Tilly would do something like that. However, things change with a last little scene that we have at the end. Jen's about to have a go at Tilly, but then they both say 'sorry' to each other.

"Things have got out of hand, but they both still care about each other a lot. Jen realises at the last moment that maybe she deserved this and her comeuppance had to happen. I don't want anyone to think that the relationship is left completely bitter, as there's still a lot of care there and they did love each other."

What does headteacher Patrick make of the situation?
"He's quite frightening! Patrick threatens Jen, and you definitely see the beginning of a different side to him in that scene. Jen is quite shocked by that, as to begin with, you might think that Patrick is what the college needs - he's got power, he's got control and he's got some good ideas.

"Jen tries to lie her way back into the college or into another job. But Patrick says, 'If you ever come near my students again, I'll do whatever it takes you keep you away'. It's quite scary. I don't know whether we'll see more of that side to Patrick, we'll have to see."

We noticed that Tilly and Jen's relationship had a big following on Twitter. What did you make of the reaction?
"It's amazing. It's incredible how people have really taken to the relationship. I think the issues the storyline brought up were quite interesting, as it dealt with the bureaucracy of what's legal and what's illegal. Two people genuinely fell in love with each other, but bureaucracy and the law got in the way of that. Is that right? It's difficult to draw a line.

"You obviously have to draw a line somewhere, as there are people out there who are quite disturbed and would take advantage. But in this storyline, I think there were nice elements of the relationship. Jen wasn't an evil character, or at least I tried to play it that way. It's not always black and white. This was an honest relationship that had bad circumstances and probably should have been stopped a lot sooner, but you can't help who you fall in love with."

What memories will you take away from your time at Hollyoaks?
"I had some really good scenes with Alex Fletcher who plays Diane, which was really nice. Lucy was also amazing to work with. I was really lucky to have such a good actress to work alongside - in fact, all of the actors I worked with were brilliant. I especially loved all of the scenes with Jen and Tilly in the first couple of months, when they were at the beach and falling for each other."

What are your future plans?
"I trained in theatre and I've done quite a lot of TV since then, so I would quite like to go onto a theatre job now. But the business is pretty crazy at the moment, so I know I can't afford to be fussy! In an ideal world, I'd very much like to do a theatre job or a great part in a drama.

Good luck to Amy with what she does next career wise:). I am torn about Jen, on the one hand I think she does deserve her comeuppance because what she did with Esther is wrong, but then I also think it is a shame she is leaving because the character could have been developed more!

Daniella Westbrook: 'Hollyoaks role made me miss EastEnders'

Daniella Westbrook has revealed that returning to soapland for her part in Hollyoaks made her miss EastEnders.

The actress, who is best known for playing Walford's Sam Mitchell on and off since 1990, has filmed her final Hollyoaks scenes as ex-convict Trudy.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/08/300x225/trudy.jpg

Speaking to Soaplife, Westbrook said: "I still talk to Steve McFadden, Jake Wood and Rita Simons... quite a few people actually.

"Working at Hollyoaks has made me miss EastEnders a little bit. I feel at home there."

Westbrook also admitted that she would love to return to EastEnders, but doesn't feel the time is right for Sam to come back at the moment.

"I would [return] yes, but at the moment I don't feel there's a space for Sam. Saying that, I'd move up to Liverpool in a heartbeat if they decided to make Trudy full-time at Hollyoaks."

I am enjoying the show, it is annoying me that some Brendan fans are saying that the show is crap now he has gone like Brendan Brady was the only thing worth watching Hollyoaks for.

Hollyoaks has survived more popular characters than Brendan going and it will survive Brendan leaving. Emmett Scanlan chose to leave yet some people are moaning that Hollyoaks are losing some of their best characters, when in some cases the Actors choose to leave themselves:bored:.

I have confidence in Bryan Kirkwood and think the show will get stronger now the show is fully under his control and not clearing up the previous producers storylines etc.

'Hollyoaks': Nick Pickard teases Jacqui's big confession to Tony

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/20/618x445/tony-2.jpg

Hollyoaks businessman Tony Hutchinson receives a shock next week as Jacqui McQueen tells him what really happened between her and Trudy Ryan in jail.

Jacqui (Claire Cooper) has recently struggled with having Trudy (Danniella Westbrook) back in her life, knowing that the scheming blonde has a hold over her.

With Trudy continuing to cause trouble over the next few days, Jacqui finally reaches breaking point and tells Tony everything. Tony has been eager to reunite with Jacqui, but could her surprising revelation change that?

Digital Spy recently chatted to Nick Pickard, who plays Tony, to hear more about the storyline.

How is Tony feeling about Jacqui at the moment?
"I think it's been an ongoing thing with Tony and Jacqui. Tony has always loved Jacqui and always had a soft spot for her. Obviously she went off and married Rhys, but out of all the girlfriends Tony's had, I think Jacqui is the one who's always had a place in his heart.

"It's that whole thing of opposites attracting, and he's been spending a lot of time with Jacqui recently. Tony wasn't honest with Jacqui after Rhys's death, so she let him go for a while as she was angry with him - but he's still persisting.

"The main thing is that Tony still loves Jacqui and he wants to get back with her."

The Tony and Jacqui pairing always seems to have been a popular one…
"Definitely - so many people come up to me and ask me when I'm going to get back with Jacqui! I always say, 'Listen, it's not up to me - but keep asking and you might just get it!'"

Next week, Tony tries to help Jacqui out with the ongoing Trudy situation. What happens?
"I went to school with Dani in real life, so it was quite weird to film these scenes, actually! We went to Sylvia Young Theatre School years ago, so it was lovely to see her pop up on the set after all this time. Dani is such a lovely girl, so I had a lot of fun doing these scenes.

"Tony is no match for Trudy whatsoever and he gets in a little bit too deep with the whole situation. He tries to bribe Trudy into leaving Jacqui alone, but she ends up trashing his flat up. It's quite funny, as Tony thinks he's got rid of her by paying her off and is very pleased with himself, but his flat is ransacked as a little message to him!"

Tony also tries to impress Jacqui by dressing up as a US navy officer, Officer and a Gentleman style! How did you feel about filming that?!
"It was quite good, because the costume wasn't a jokey one. Hollyoaks got a proper naval uniform from London, so it was quite nice to put it on!

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/12/618x1095/soaps-hollyoaks-3573-3.jpg

"I was a bit embarrassed to do it if I'm honest, but it's just one of those things! Probably most embarrassing was that I had to walk into the club and do a stupid dance in front of all the extras. Then Tony walks over to Jacqui and tells her that he loves her. It was very cheesy, but very Tony!"

Could Jacqui's secret tear her and Tony apart again?
"Well, things will certainly hang in the balance! I can't reveal exactly what it is, but the secret is something that Jacqui has kept very close to her chest for a very long time, and it's never been revealed in the past before.

"It's a little bit of a shock to Tony, so it's a bit of a cliffhanger for the viewers. People will be wondering what Tony's going to do, and whether he'll still want to be with Jacqui. You'll see that Jacqui thinks it's a deal-breaker…"

How do you feel about Claire leaving Hollyoaks?
"I was gutted. I've always been very lucky with the actresses that I've worked with over the years. Everyone here is good, but it's especially enjoyable when you're paired up with someone who works in the same way as you and at the same pace. Claire was very much like that. She was always fully committed to the part and ready to go, so I'm going to miss her. She was great fun."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/12/618x453/soaps-hollyoaks-3573-4.jpg

After their recent scenes, could Tony take a more serious interest in Diane?
"You never know in the soap world! We'll have to see, so I'll keep you posted on that one!"

As the longest-serving cast member on Hollyoaks, what are your thoughts on the show's current form?
"I'm glad to see the show doing so well. I was really pleased when Bryan Kirkwood came back as executive producer. Not that I didn't have respect for my other bosses, but it's just re-energised the place. I was gutted when Bryan left the first time, so now he's back we're in great hands and great shape again.

"Everyone's looking forward to the year ahead. It's going to be a huge year for me which I'm really looking forward to, and long may it continue."

What's kept you with the show for so long?
"I have to be honest, it's mainly the people. I still get a genuine buzz when I walk into work, and I love the people I work with. I moved up here to Liverpool when I was 19, so it's pretty much my home now. I'm 37 now and I'm one of the older cast, which I don't like! (Laughs.)

"Every year I'm excited for the next one coming up. I've always said that if I wasn't happy I would have never stayed, but I've always been happy."

Do you see yourself sticking with Hollyoaks forever like Ken Barlow in Corrie?
"I'll stay as long as they want me, put it that way!"

'Hollyoaks': Patrick Blake frightens ex-wife Anna

Hollyoaks fans see another glimpse of Patrick Blake's sinister side next week as he continues to intimidate ex-wife Anna.

Patrick (Jeremy Sheffield) steps up his manipulative behaviour as his family seem determined to stay in contact with Anna now that they know where she is.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/12/618x578/soaps-hollyoaks-jeremy-sheffield-patrick-blake.jpg

Sienna (Anna Passey) sparks the problem by deciding to join Will Savage as he pays a visit to Anna (Saskia Wickham) in the care home.

Although there's no easy way forward for mother and daughter, the ice between them starts to melt as Anna reminisces about the good times they shared in the past.

Unsurprisingly, Patrick is furious when he learns where Sienna has been and he tries to ban her from seeing Anna again. However, Sienna refuses to listen to her father and privately resolves to continue with the visits.

Sienna even decides to bring Dodger along for the second meeting, but it doesn't go well as troubled Anna claims not to know who her children are and demands that they leave.

Later, though, all becomes clear as a threatening Patrick arrives at the home and congratulates Anna for her performance. It's obvious that he now has her completely under his control…

Back in the village, meanwhile, another storyline begins for Patrick as he discovers that Maxine Minniver can't read and offers to help her.

Maxine is pleased to have Patrick's support, but there are signs that he's up to his usual tricks as he seems keen to have control over her. Should Maxine be worried?

'Hollyoaks': Leanne Holiday makes shock discovery

This is the moment that Hollyoaks' Leanne Holiday uncovers evidence of Will Savage's obsessive behaviour.

Leanne (Jessica Forrest) is heavily involved in planning Will's wedding to Texas Longford when she is suddenly given reason to question whether the ceremony should go ahead at all.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/13/618x451/soaps-hollyoaks-3579-1.jpg

Next week's episodes see the quirky student arrange Will and Texas's wedding for four weeks' time, and she is delighted when she's then asked to be maid of honour on the big day.

Later, however, Leanne's joy turns to horror when she stumbles across a notebook Will (James Atherton) has kept which documents Texas's every movement.

Investigating further, Leanne also finds that Will has a shoebox filled with CCTV DVDs of Texas (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove).

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/13/618x448/soaps-hollyoaks-3579-2.jpg

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/13/618x445/soaps-hollyoaks-3579-3.jpg

Leanne is shocked when she realises how twisted Will has become, but he frantically tries to stay in control of the situation by talking her round.

Will's latest manipulation appears to work wonders as Leanne remembers her own crazy behaviour when it comes to love and starts to feel a new-found bond with him.

As we reported last week, Leanne is unable to hide her growing feelings for the groom and she leans in to kiss him when they have a moment alone. Is Will going to be tempted by Leanne?

'Hollyoaks' James Sutton: 'I'm not a celebrity'

Hollyoaks actor James Sutton has said that being famous is the worst part of his job.

Despite playing the popular John Paul McQueen in the soap, as well as having done a two-year stint in Emmerdale as Ryan Lamb, Sutton insists he is not a celebrity.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/04/618x642/soaps-hollyoaks-james-sutton-john-paul-mcqueen-2.jpg

When asked by PA if he liked fame, Sutton said: "Oh no, Jesus Christ no. That's the worst side of it for me. I'm not a celebrity or anything, I'm just an actor and it just so happens my job is on TV.

"If people come up and say nice things about the show, that's really lovely, but I'm not really in it for recognition or attention or anything.

"I think if you're in it for attention you're in it for the wrong reasons and you should probably ****** off to TOWIE or Big Brother or something. Go and join that mob. It's not really my bag."

Sutton's character John Paul will be left humiliated after his new romance with Doug Carter leads to trouble this week.

How awkward now that everyone knows about Jen and Tilly now. Jen got her comeuppance in the E4 episode and left, then Liam left ashamed about what Jen had done and headed off for pastures new.

Patrick is scary. JP and Doug covered his car in post-it notes because Patrick found out that JP knew about Tilly and Esther.

Jacqui confessed her secret to Tony RE Trudy They killed a woman, who they discovered was pregnant and she thinks that is a punishment for not having children.

I am glad that Sinead is trying to turn her life around and at least apologised to Esther for bullying her, although I do not blame Esther for not wanting anything to do with her.

'Hollyoaks' Saskia Wickham: 'Patrick should watch his back'

Hollyoaks newcomer Saskia Wickham has tipped her character Anna Savage to fight back against controlling ex-husband Patrick Blake.

Next week's episodes see Anna left terrified as Patrick (Jeremy Sheffield) resorts to extreme measures to stop their children Dodger and Sienna from visiting her in the care home.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/13/618x439/soaps-hollyoaks-3577-3.jpg

As reported yesterday, Anna pretends that she doesn't know who Dodger and Sienna are when they pay her a visit. However, her 'confusion' is only to pacify a menacing Patrick.

Wickham told Inside Soap: "Patrick threatens Anna. She knows it would be best to do what he says, because she's fully aware of what he's capable of.

"Anna is under no illusions about how tough Patrick can make their lives if she doesn't do exactly as she's told.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/13/618x438/soaps-hollyoaks-3577-1.jpg

"She denies her kids and says, 'I don't know you - I don't have any children'. It's an awful thing to have to say, and it was the most heartbreaking scene I've filmed. But Anna is ultimately putting her children first."

However, the actress added: "Now that she's found the strength to reunite with her kids after 15 years, I don't think she's going to give up now. Patrick should definitely watch his back."

I hope Anna fights back too:).

Big storyline...

'Hollyoaks': Surprise pregnancy storyline revealed

Hollyoaks bosses have lined up a big new storyline for Diane O'Connor as she looks set to finally get the baby she's always dreamt of, Digital Spy can reveal.

Diane, played by Alex Fletcher, discovers that she is pregnant later this month after her recent nights of passion with Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard).

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/14/300x450/soaps-hollyoaks-alex-fletcher-diane-oconnor.jpg

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/20/300x450/tony-2.jpg

Regular viewers will know that Diane has always desperately wanted a baby of her own, but it won't be plain sailing for her as she is unsure how much support she can expect from Tony.

A show source told Digital Spy: "Diane knows that her fling with Tony wasn't anything serious and his heart has always belonged to Jacqui McQueen.

"At first she's reluctant to tell Tony about the baby, but she finally plucks up the courage to let him know that he's going to be a father again.

"With Jacqui bowing out from the village soon, there may still be a chance of Tony and Diane becoming a proper couple, but viewers will have to wait and see how it pans out."

Another major obstacle for the pair will be Tony's upcoming battle with testicular cancer. As previously revealed, the businessman will be diagnosed with the illness in early May.

The insider added: "With a baby on the way and serious health problems to worry about, Tony is going to have a lot on his plate. There are interesting times ahead for him and Diane."

Diane's early months on Hollyoaks in 2010 saw her undergoing IVF treatment, as she hoped for a child of her own after raising stepkids Sinead and Finn.

More recently, Diane has agreed to adopt Sinead's baby girl when she arrives later this year.

'Hollyoaks' Joseph Thompson: 'Mercedes scheme could end disastrously'

Hollyoaks star Joseph Thompson has admitted that his character Doctor Browning will be "devastated" if he discovers Mercedes McQueen's betrayal.

Browning is currently concerned for his fiancé's safety after discovering that she has been 'kidnapped'. In reality, however, Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) is fine and has cooked up the stunt with Clare Devine as a money-making scheme.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/03/618x850/dr-paul-browning-2.jpg

Although Browning becomes increasingly suspicious of Clare (Gemma Bissix) next week, he remains completely unaware that Mercedes has been plotting against him.

Speaking to Inside Soap about how Browning might react to the truth, Thompson replied: "He'd be devastated. Browning doesn't see the world the same as everyone else, so it'd be a dangerous situation if he felt he'd been wronged by the love of his life.

"It could end disastrously - or maybe his love for Mercedes is big enough that he'd forgive her for it."

Asked whether Browning would harm Mercedes, he replied: "That's the million dollar question! I think he's capable of anything. Mercedes is everything to him, so to be duped by her would be the biggest betrayal of all."

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/29/618x465/soaps_hollyoaks_3400_6.jpg

Thompson added that he doesn't mind seeing Browning on the receiving end of manipulation for once.

He laughed: "There's no shame in being outwitted by Mercedes and Clare. I think normally you'd back Browning to hold his own, but he's lost and vulnerable without Mercedes, which is a very strange state of affairs for him. He's just trying to deal with this bizarre situation as best he can."

I hope they keep him and Mercy together and they better not split them up so he can get with Clare:nono:.

'Hollyoaks': Leanne Holiday to be murder suspect

Hollyoaks star Jessica Forrest has revealed that her character Leanne Holiday will be one of the suspects when Texas Longford is murdered.

Back in February, show bosses confirmed that Texas will be killed on her wedding day in a dramatic episode due to air in a few weeks' time.

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/30/618x506/leanne-holiday.jpg

Texas (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove) is currently planning to marry Will Savage (James Atherton), unaware that he has been manipulating her for months.

Leanne becomes involved in the storyline next week as she begins to develop romantic feelings for Will, which could lead to her becoming jealous of best friend Texas.

Forrest told Digital Spy of the upcoming scenes: "There's loads of stuff coming up, just keep tuning in! The storyline starts next week and then it runs for a few months. It's so exciting and there's so many twists and turns.

"We've already filmed the wedding, and the big day is amazing. When we filmed it, it was absolutely beautiful and we had big crane cameras shooting some of the scenes. I think it's going to look amazing - Hollyoaks at its best!"

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/06/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-3541-2.jpg

The storyline builds up to Texas being pushed from a window and falling to her death at the wedding, leaving fans to wonder who is responsible for the terrible crime.

Asked whether Leanne will be under suspicion, Forrest replied: "Yes, she's definitely one of the suspects! There are five suspects and Leanne is one of them, unfortunately!"

'Hollyoaks': Jeremy Sheffield on Patrick's 'evil' side and future

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/12/618x578/soaps-hollyoaks-jeremy-sheffield-patrick-blake.jpg

Hollyoaks newcomer Patrick Blake may have seemed like a nice guy when he made his debut last November, but viewers have since seen glimpses of a much darker side to his personality.

As revealed in our other reports in recent days, Patrick steps up his controlling behaviour next week as he is horrified to learn that daughter Sienna and son Dodger have been visiting their troubled mother Anna at the care home.

Not wanting his family to have any contact with Anna, the college headteacher becomes threatening and forces her to reject her children in emotional scenes.

Digital Spy recently chatted to Jeremy Sheffield, who plays Patrick, to hear his thoughts on his character's startling behaviour.

How are you finding your time at Hollyoaks?
"I'm loving it a hundred times more than I thought I would! I was looking forward to it, but I had no idea that I'd enjoy it this much. All of the cast members have become really good friends, and that's probably the most important single factor for me at work. We get along more than any other cast I've worked with, and I've had some really good casts in the past.

"We all live quite close to each other and we go out together. That's been a fantastic experience. The other great thing is living in Liverpool. I'd never been to the city before, but I've completely fallen in love with it. I really couldn't have asked for life at Hollyoaks to be any better."

Did you audition for the role of Patrick or did Hollyoaks approach you to join?
"They approached me, very kindly! I'm still not entirely sure how it came about, but I had a phone call and they offered me the part. I had a meeting with Rick Laxton, who's the head of casting at Hollyoaks, and he told me all about the character of Patrick. Once I started hearing what Patrick was all about, I knew it was something that I'd really like to play."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/12/618x442/soaps-hollyoaks-3573-1.jpg

How do you feel about playing a character with a real sinister side?
"It's a lot of fun! You've probably heard this all before, but the baddies are always the best parts to play. I suppose it's because you're allowed to behave in a way that you never would in real life. It gives you an excuse to do things that would be completely unacceptable otherwise, but that's part of what being an actor is all about.

"I think Patrick is a very complex man. I'm trying to play somebody who could be real - who could be your neighbour, your child's headmaster, or somebody who lives round the corner. I'd like him to be somebody who is believable, but also can be horrifically evil at times!"

Did you always know Patrick had a dark side, or did these more recent scripts come as a surprise to you?
"I definitely knew it was coming, and that was one of the main attractions of the role for me. I've played middle class nice people before and I've had a lovely time doing it, but to have that whole other level and a real dark side is much more exciting for an actor."

How does Patrick feel when Sienna decides to visit Anna in the care home next week?
"Patrick is very clear in his own mind about this. His morals are very clear and his ethics are very clear. He believes wholeheartedly that Anna is deranged and that she is dangerous for his children to be around. He genuinely believes that, and he does not see himself as being the reason for it! (Laughs.)

"Patrick is concerned about Sienna having anything to do with Anna. There's also the fact that Anna can reveal things about Patrick that he doesn't want his children to know.

"Like all of Patrick's behaviour, he justifies it to himself as being the appropriate behaviour given that Anna is dangerous. He can back that up with fact, as she attempted to kill his children. For that reason, he's determined to make sure that Sienna and Dodger don't go to see her - or have any contact with her at all."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/13/618x425/soaps-hollyoaks-3577-2.jpg

We'll also see Patrick being quite threatening towards Anna at the care home…
"Yes, this is a scene which is loaded with history. This couple have been in each other's lives for many, many years and the dynamic has been the same for all those years. Patrick has had complete power over Anna. That's what he strives for in all of his relationships and all aspects of his life - control and power. To him, that's completely normal and he doesn't see it as abusive.

"Saskia Wickham, who plays Anna, is fantastic in this scene. In a way, I have to do very little as an actor in scenes with her, because of her performance. Saskia immediately gives me that power as Anna crumbles whenever he's in the vicinity. That's because he's spent years grinding her down.

"So this scene is a clear vision of their history together, and it's how the dynamic of this relationship has always been. Patrick has created this dynamic because, in his mind, Anna is a very dangerous woman who needs to be controlled. It's quite terrifying!"

Next week we'll also see Patrick helping Maxine with her reading. Is he just being friendly, or is there an ulterior motive?
"Oh, there's definitely an ulterior motive! I'm not sure Patrick is aware of this, though. He's not pre-meditated or psychotic - in his mind, he's able to help Maxine and he likes to play that role. Of course, as an audience, we see that as somebody who's controlling and manipulative. However, Patrick thinks he's just being helpful!

"Patrick sees an opportunity to help Maxine, and it's a dynamic he's drawn to again and again throughout his life. You can imagine it being very similar to the beginning of the relationship he had with Anna. We haven't been through an exact scenario of how Anna and Patrick met, but you could well imagine it's the same as how he's met Maxine.

"He's found a vulnerability in Maxine, so that piques his interest and starts to draw him towards her. The audience will definitely be suspicious that this could be something more sinister…"

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/46/618x365/soaps_nikki_sanderson_jeremy_sheffield_lorraine.jp g

Have you had much reaction from the public yet for playing Patrick?
"I have had quite a bit! Out in Liverpool, there are a lot of locals who watch the show. Initially it was, 'Oh, you're Dodger's dad!' But recently people have been saying, 'You're Patrick Blake!'

"It's been very interesting, as people have said that they don't think Patrick is going to be very nice! It's great that they've already seen subtle hints of what's to come. The audience are definitely picking up on the fact that there's something not quite right about this man…"

Are there any cast members you'd like to share more screen time with?
"I've worked with most people already, but I haven't worked with many of the McQueens apart from John Paul, so I'd love to do more with them. Although I'm not sure how that would come about and how they'd end up in the same room together, because they live in such different worlds.

"I also haven't done much with Nick Pickard, and I think some scenes with his character Tony would be more possible as their ages aren't too different."

With the British Soap Awards voting continuing, is there anything you would say in support of Hollyoaks?
"Well, I'm not an expert on soap, but I do get a very strong sense that the show is in the middle of a big change and an improvement. I believe that ratings have gone up, while storylines and writing are improving all the time. Hopefully the audience are seeing that, and it would be really nice for that to be recognised."

Patrick is shaping up to be a very complex character and Jeremy Sheffield is really good playing him:).

'Hollyoaks': Jessica Forrest teases Leanne, Will, Texas plot future

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/14/618x567/soaps-hollyoaks-jessica-forrest-leanne-holiday_1.jpg

Hollyoaks student Leanne Holiday experiences a rollercoaster of emotions next week as she sees Will Savage's true colours, before later developing an attraction to him in a surprising twist.

Leanne is horrified when she finds Will's secret notebook and CCTV footage which has kept track of Texas's every movement. However, she later realises that she can relate to his obsessive behaviour and starts to fall for him.

Digital Spy recently chatted to Jessica Forrest, who plays Leanne, to hear her thoughts on the storyline.

Have you enjoyed being brought into the Will and Texas saga?
"Yeah, it's been great! I think with this storyline, we've all been given something to really sink our teeth into, which is nice. Each of the characters is completely different and brings a different dynamic to the situation. That's been really fun and we've all really enjoyed it."

Is Leanne happy to see Texas and Will planning their wedding?
"She is at first - she's quite happy for them. It's been quite a shock to Leanne and Doug, because it's always been Texas and Dodger who had strong feelings for each other. When Texas and Will got together, they were slightly sceptical about it.

"Despite that, Leanne is one of Texas's best friends, so she does encourage it. If it makes Texas happy, she will support it. Plus, Leanne loves a wedding! Give her a wedding and she'll definitely run with it! (Laughs.) It all starts off quite good, but obviously a spanner is thrown in the works later on…"

It's actually Leanne who books the wedding for four weeks' time, isn't it?
"Yeah, that's right. At this point, Texas has got a lot of college work to do, and she has lots of other things on her mind, so she's making excuses to delay the wedding a little bit. That's because she wants to sort out her own emotions in her head.

"But at the same time, Will is quite pushy about it, as he wants the wedding to happen much sooner. When Texas isn't around, Leanne and Will form quite a big friendship. It's obvious that Will really wants the wedding to go ahead, so Leanne plans it with him.

"Leanne does get very involved with the wedding and she ends up booking it, which ticks Texas off. But perhaps that's only because she's a little bit unhappy in the relationship herself."

Is Leanne excited when Texas and Will ask her to be maid of honour on the big day?
"Very much so, she's really excited! It's a lovely little moment when Leanne is asked to be maid of honour, so it's all looking good at that point!"

But then Leanne finds out that Will has been stalking Texas! How does she react?
"Leanne goes absolutely mental! She absolutely blows her lid and calls Will an absolute freak. She's screaming and she's throwing the CCTV DVDs around the room. Will is really panicking because he's been found out, and he doesn't know what Leanne is going to do.

"But Will is a master manipulator and he eventually manages to pin Leanne down to have a little chat with her. The interesting thing is that a lot of Will's personality traits are similar to Leanne's, in the way that he's become very obsessive. He's stalking Texas, which is similar to the way that Leanne stalked Lee when she first joined the village.

"Will points out that they're both 'crazy in love' and it's something they've got in common. He manages to bring her round, so Leanne starts to think that they're almost soul mates. She sees something in Will that she's only ever seen in herself, and a nice bond starts to develop between them."

Leanne's feelings for Will start to become increasingly romantic. Were you surprised by that?
"It's definitely unexpected, but I think Will is desperate. Somebody has found out his secrets and he's trying to do everything in his power to keep those under wraps. He basically manipulates Leanne into fancying him, so she'll do anything for him.

"We all know what Leanne's like around men - they say 'Jump' and she says 'How high?' So Will definitely uses that to his advantage. I think it's nice for the audience to see a different side to Leanne. For once, she's the one who's being manipulated."

Does Leanne feel guilty about developing an attraction to her best friend's fiancé?
"Definitely. The whole storyline for Leanne is revolving around her guilt, as she's being manipulated the whole time. The audience can see that Will is pushing her into certain situations, but Leanne doesn't realise that. She thinks their attraction is developing quite naturally, but it's actually formed by his manipulations."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/13/618x445/soaps-hollyoaks-3579-3.jpg

It's no secret that this storyline is leading up to the murder of Texas! Are you sad to see Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove, who plays her, leaving the show?
"It's really sad! I'm gutted as she's my best friend. I lived with her for a year and a half and I really love her. It won't only change the dynamic at work, but also the dynamic in the village. Who's Leanne going to be hanging about with now? Changes are exciting but it's also really sad."

What can we expect between now and the wedding?
"There's loads of stuff coming up, just keep tuning in!

Will Leanne be under suspicion when Texas is murdered?
"Yes, she's definitely one of the suspects! There are five suspects and Leanne is one of them, unfortunately!"

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/06/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-3541-2.jpg

After nearly three years with the show, do you still enjoy Hollyoaks as much as when you first started?
"To be honest, I think I enjoy it more, if anything! I've been there quite a long time now. It was my first TV job, so it was all new to me. I've definitely learned on the job and I feel like I've got better since I've been there. The character has developed and Leanne has formed quite a few different relationships.

"For example, if I have a scene with Doug now, then we've got three years of history to draw on. We've had a kiss, we've almost got married, so a lot has happened! I think you just get a chance to develop a complex character, which is really fun. I've got the best job in the world."

Would you like Leanne to ever be lucky in love for a change?
"No, single Leanne all the way! I can't handle her when she's around men, she's too much! I'm single and it's quite nice to be single at work and single at home for a change!

"Having said that, obviously Leanne has got a lovely little relationship with Dennis, so you never know what's going to happen there. There's also a few hotties in the village so maybe she'll get on the prowl!"

Do you hope the writers keep Leanne's quirky side?
"Definitely, I love that. At the end of the day, she's a bit like Marmite, but I love all the one-liners they write for her. Whenever I pick a script up, I always know that she's going to be up to something, and that's why I'm still there now. I think there's always so much more she can do, so it's great."

Is there a dream storyline that you'd love to play as Leanne?
"Well, I've actually really enjoyed the last storyline that I've just done, but I'm not really allowed to talk about it! As a dream storyline, I'd love to meet Leanne's parents, because I think that'd be quite funny. I imagine her mum to be really strait-laced and prim and proper, so I do wonder where her crazy side has come from. I think it'd definitely be funny to meet the parents."

Jessica Forrest is lovely:). I like that Leanne is crazy and still has that edge to her as a character!

'Hollyoaks' returnee Finn O'Connor in road accident

Finn O'Connor returns to Hollyoaks with a bang next week as he is run over by Robbie Roscoe.

As Digital Spy exclusively revealed last month, show bosses have recast the role of Finn, recruiting actor Keith Rice to take over the part.

The build-up to the teen's return begins next Monday (April 15), as Sinead's father Rob arrives back in the village to deliver the shocking news that Finn is missing.

As Diane worries about her stepson's wellbeing, Sinead (Stephanie Davis) seeks a distraction from the family drama by blagging herself an invite to attend an all-night gig with Robbie and Callum Kane.

Callum (Laurie Duncan) has agreed to sell drugs for Robbie (Charlie Wernham) at the gig, but as the boys and Sinead are on their way to the venue in a stolen van, they're left horrified as they suddenly knock someone over.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/14/618x420/soaps-hollyoaks-3582-5.jpg

The troublesome trio soon flee the scene, but later that night Diane gets a visit from two police officers who tell her that Finn has been injured in a hit and run.

Rushing to the hospital, Diane struggles to cope with the latest O'Connor crisis, while Sinead feels terrible at being involved in running over her own brother.

When Finn wakes up the next morning, he can barely remember what happened. However, that doesn't stop Robbie from visiting him with a startling ultimatum - he's responsible for the hit and run, but if Finn tells the police, he'll make sure Sinead goes down with him. How will Finn react?

'Hollyoaks': Texas Longford to make shock discovery

Hollyoaks schemer Will Savage comes close to losing fiancée Texas Longford later this month as she catches him kissing her best friend.

Will (James Atherton) is sharing a passionate moment with Leanne Holiday outside The Dog in the Pond when Texas spots his shock betrayal, All About Soap has revealed.

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/30/618x421/will-savage-1.jpg

Aware that Leanne (Jessica Forrest) is developing strong feelings for him, Will is only kissing her to make sure she stays on his side.

With a torn Leanne threatening to tell Texas the truth about Will's manipulation, the village villain hopes to keep the feisty blonde quiet by showing a romantic interest in her.

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/24/300x225/texas-5.jpg

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/14/300x225/soaps-hollyoaks-jessica-forrest-leanne-holiday_1.jpg

When Texas (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove) realises that Will has betrayed her with Leanne, she is finally honest with his brother Dodger (Danny Mac) - admitting that he's the one she really wants.

Will continues to spy on Texas via CCTV footage and fears that he's already lost her when he spots her climbing into the back of Dodger's van.

Texas is relieved to have an excuse to break up with Will, but when she tries to do so, he begs for forgiveness and claims that he has a life-threatening aneurism.

Given Will's recent history of lies and deceit, this could be yet another twisted scheme - but it may just be enough to change Texas's mind about the split.

'Hollyoaks': Life or death drama for Mercedes, Browning

Hollyoaks couple Mercedes McQueen and Doctor Paul Browning will face terrible danger at the hands of Clare Devine later this month.

Clare (Gemma Bissix) steps up her evil behaviour when she misses out on the ransom cash she has demanded in exchange for Mercy's safe return.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/12/618x495/soaps-hollyoaks-gemma-bissix-clare-devine.jpg

The ruthless schemer has been holding Mercy captive in the hope of securing a £200,000 payout from Browning and the McQueens.

When Browning (Joseph Thompson) finally gets the cash together, he follows Clare's instructions by leaving it in a gym bag at Atwell's. Unfortunately, student Leanne Holiday has an identical bag and they soon get mixed up.

Clare is furious when she finds a bag full of sweaty gym gear rather than cash. Fearing she's been double-crossed, she gets her revenge by locking Mercy and Browning in a cage together and threatening them with rabid dogs.

Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes, told All About Soap: "Clare moves Mercy to a scrap yard and locks her up in this cage. I have no idea how Clare has the strength to overpower Mercedes. It's one of those TV mysteries!

"She can't escape, because savage dogs are surrounding the cage, and Clare warns they'll attack her if she gets out. She's stuck in this cage in the middle of nowhere, with no-one to hear her cries for help."

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/08/618x754/soaps_hollyoaks_mercedes_mcqueen.jpg

She continued: "Browning meets up with Clare and she lures him into the cage and then whacks him with a heavy stone, leaving him with a nasty head wound. Clare's obviously a very powerful woman!"

Mercy and Browning realise how much they mean to each other as they are reunited in the perilous situation. However, with Browning injured, his life is left on the line.

Asked what the future may hold if both characters survive, Metcalfe replied: "I think they're a match made in heaven, so they could go all the way - she might make it up the aisle this time! But they test each other so much, they could push one another away. It's one extreme to the other with them."

I didn’t want Jacqui McQueen to become a wallflower

Hollyoaks’ Claire Cooper on why she quit.

Claire Cooper upset a lot of fans when she announced that she was quitting her role as mouthy Jacqui McQueen.

It came out of the blue for viewers but in reality it was a long time coming for Claire.

She actually decided to leave the soap over a year ago because she didn’t want “this formidable woman to become a wallflower”.

As Jacqui prepares to strut out of the village we caught up with Claire who admitted that making the decision to go was the hardest of her life.

She told SoapSquawk: “You hand your notice in but it doesn’t mean you want to leave at that moment, that’s not how soaps work.

“You hand your notice in so you can start planning your exit, you don’t just go ’right, I’m off now’, you have to have respect for the people you work with and the character.

“It means you have to pre-empt when you think it’s time to go and it was certainly then for me.

“When I put my notice in it felt right. I didn’t want Jacqui, this amazing, formidable woman to become a wallflower.

“It’s not what I want for her.

“I felt like I had done everything I could at that point. It was really difficult because I love the character, it was really emotional and not the easiest thing to do and I don’t want fans to think it was.

“I had lots of sleepless nights about it. They did try to make me stay a couple of times, which was very flattering.”

It’s weird being a soap hunk!

Hollyoaks’ Danny Mac on his British Soap Awards nod.

Hollyoaks’ Danny Mac is currently fighting it out in the sexiest male category at this year’s British Soap Awards.

Some actors may love the idea of being a soap hunk but Danny * Chester’s Dodger Savage * thinks it’s “weird”.

And he can’t get over why bosses want so many scenes with him topless!

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/Oaks%20cast/OZFqRo8WtulveqWcvs9YWi.jpg

Speaking to SoapSquawk ahead of next month’s award ceremony, Danny said: “It’s so weird.

“The topless scenes were frustrating at first because I had to keep telling myself I’m an actor.

“It’s flattering, so now I’m dreading the day when they say ’you can leave your shirt on Dan’, because after that day I’m probably out of a job!

“For the last year I’ve had really great material so I can’t complain if I have to take my shirt off once a week.”

But the actor, who started his career in the West End, admits that he does sometimes challenge his bosses over scenes where Dodger has no top on.

He explained: “I’ll get the script and it will say ’Dodger’s top is off’ and sometimes I’ve had to go ’I’m really sorry, not being harsh but there’s no reason for me to have my top off in this scene’. They’ll be like ’OK, that’s silly’.

“I think the guys upstairs are trying to see how many times they can get my top off!”

I got to do my own stunt!

Hollyoaks’ Bianca Hendrickse*-Spendlove on Texas Longford’s death

Texas Longford will be brutally murdered on her wedding day when she’s shoved out of a window.

It’s a gruesome end for the Chester local but actress Bianca Hendrickse*-Spendlove, who plays Texas, was thrilled because she got to do all her own stunts.

She laughed: "I got to do my own stunt, I was in a wedding dress and it was really cool!

"I was attached with all these wires onto a crane, they lifted me up 30 feet in the air and then I get dropped.

"I’ve got my wedding dress on and I look like I’m floating.

"It looks really cool, it was a good way to go out, when you leave you want to go out with a bang."

And in case any fans think Texas might not be dead, Bianca confirmed: "Texas dies! She is no more!

"I’m properly dead, not like those dead people that come back, I’m really dead!"

Hollyoaks hit and run!

Stephanie Davis reveals Sinead’s in trouble again

You would think that after the year she’s had Sinead O’Connor would want to stay out of trouble.

Instead she lurches from one disaster to another!

Next week’s action sees her leave her own brother for dead after a hit and run.

Here Stephanie Davis, who plays the pregnant teen, reveals all.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/Oaks%20cast/sineadHR.jpg

Why does Sinead’s dad turn up?
Rob shows up to let Diane and Sinead know that Finn’s gone missing and he’s been missing for a week. Diane’s really angry because she’s like ’You’re his dad, he’s been missing a week and you haven’t even said anything or been looking for him’. He’s been tied up with his own family so he didn’t really notice Finn was gone.

She meets Robbie Roscoe and they instantly hit it off...
Yeah, they have this naughty banter with each other. He’s a bit of a bad boy and that’s what Sinead goes for, she sees a bit of Bart in him. He invites her out, not realising she’s pregnant. Then he sees she’s pregnant and Sinead has to chase after him and is like ’Hang on, why can’t I come anymore just because I’m pregnant? I don’t want the baby anyway’, he says she can come along.

Why’s she attracted to Robbie?
She knows Diane’s going to have the baby so she thinks she’s getting her life back and wants to have some fun. He’s a bit of fresh meat in the village and she spots that he’s a bit of a bad lad. She likes his feistiness and I think she likes the fact she has to chase him a bit.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/April/HO-TX-16.04.13-04.jpg

What happens next?
He tells her to meet him at the bus stop and when she gets there Callum is there waiting and they’re basically going to go to this party for a big night out. They’ve got a van and it turns out that it’s stolen. As they are driving along the road they’re not concentrating, the music is blasting and they hit somebody. Robbie won’t let them stop and help, Sinead’s distraught. In the end he says they can’t do anything because the van’s stolen and there’s drugs in it. Sinead flips at Callum that he’s got drugs on him, she can’t believe he would be that stupid.

What’s going through her head in the moments after the accident?
She’s hysterical and just wants to get out of the van. She wants to go and help the person they’ve run over and tell the police as soon as possible. But Robbie and Callum won’t let her.

Things go from bad to worse when it turns out the person they hit was Finn...
By the time Sinead gets home the police are there and they say Finn’s been involved in a hit and run. Sinead realises it’s her, she’s run over her own brother!

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/April/HO-TX-16.04.13-05.jpg

Does she want to come clean about what they’ve done?
She wants to tell the police everything but Robbie gets to her. He threatens her and the bump. He tells her to keep her mouth shut or bad things will happen. She thought he was just a bad lad, maybe the new Bart but he turns out to be a lot sicker than that. He switched on her so quickly which makes her realise that she can’t mess with him and he’s capable of anything. I mean, to threaten a pregnant woman is sick.

How badly injured is Finn?
He’s totally out for the count. He eventually comes round and Robbie goes to see him and says ’I know your sister’. Sinead sees Robbie in the room and thinks that as he’s threatened her he’s going to do the same to her brother. While she’s trying to protect him, Finn finds out that Sinead was in the van that hit him, so it’s up to Finn whether he tells the truth when the police interview him. Will he grass up his own sister or let this one go?

Kieron Richardson on life after Brendan Brady

Hollyoaks star begins new chapter in the soap

Two men have dominated all the action in Hollyoaks for the best part of two years - Ste Hay and Brendan Brady.

But now that Brendan’s rotting behind bars it’s time for Ste to fend for himself.

We caught up with Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste, to find out what life is like before and after Brendan.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/Oaks%20cast/Ste%20headshots-25.jpg

What was it like working with Emmett Scanlan?
The great thing for me with Emmett being the kind of actor he is, he’s so talented and leaps and bounds above me, I was able to learn things from him. He was really inspirational in the performances he gave, it was good for me to see and he helped me a lot. He taught me that acting is about listening and reacting and if you don’t do that there’s no point doing it. He told me to not be afraid because sometimes on set there’s 30 or 40 people looking and you can go a bit into your shell, he taught me that you just have to not let that get into your head and give all or nothing.

It must feel like the start of a new chapter for you now that Emmett’s gone?
I’m not going to lie, as soon as I found out Emmett and Bronagh were going my heart was having palpitations thinking ’You’re my core people in the show, what’s going to happen to me, will I be staying or going?’. Straight away I wanted a meeting with the producer, but Bryan was really lovely. He helped create Ste in the first place and now he’s back it’s nice that he can take over Ste’s journey and take him to the next level. He’s got Ste back in the tracksuits and behaving badly again. Ste became a bit wet for the past 12 months and he’s done a lot of crying so it’s nice that he’s not going to be so wet anymore.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/march/HO-TX-21.03.13-19.jpg

When you found out Emmett and Bronagh were going were you tempted to leave as well?
This is where I differ from others because I never really class myself as an actor, I always say I’m a blagger. I never originally wanted to be an actor, I used to work in butty shops, it was only one day I thought about doing it and six months later I was in Hollyoaks. I don’t want to move to London because it’s big and scary, staying here means I still get to live in Manchester and see my friends and family, I still get to learn on the job and do something I have now fallen in love with. I haven’t got the balls to go ’No, don’t give me another contract’. I’m happy here. I’m not bigger or better than the show.

Were you surprised by the reaction to Brendan’s last week?
That week had been building and building, especially with the fans who wanted a Stendan happy ending. But then there was some people who wanted Brendan to die because it would mean that chapter was closed, so everyone had a different opinion on it. I think the week itself was so fantastic. It was massive on Twitter, everyone was talking about it, and my friends and family were ringing me about it. It made me think that we’ve had such a big 12 months what with the bus crash, Esther’s bullying storyline and Brendan’s exit. When I watch other soaps they will often have one big massive week of episodes and then everything else is normal, where we have massive things every couple of weeks.

I really like Kieron, he is a nice guy and certainly has improved playing Ste than he was previously and I am glad that Bryan Kirkwood has lots planned for Ste/Kieron, plus Kieron's enthusiasm for Hollyoaks never fails to surprise me!

Hollyoaks comeback? Never say never!

Claire Cooper won’t rule out a return

Human trafficking, punch-ups and proposals - so much drama can only mean one thing...Jacqui McQueen’s explosive exit from Hollyoaks.

Fans will be gutted to see the mouthy McQueen sister strut out of the Village next week but bosses have made sure she goes with a bang.

SoapSquawk caught up with Claire Cooper who lifted the lid on her final week in Chester and confessed how she will "never say never" about a possible return to the soap.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/April/HO-TX-19.04.13-10.jpg

Jacqui’s plan is to take over Trudy’s dodgy vodka delivery and pocket the cash herself, but it doesn’t quite go to plan!
It all goes horribly wrong! She thinks it’s just vodka in the back of the van and it’s only when she hears a noise and takes a look that she realises there’s illegal immigrants in the back. She’s like ’for goodness sake, this is ridiculous’. Trudy’s in on it too and Jacqui’s fuming about it. She just thinks it’s lower than low to do that to other people, she thinks it’s disgusting.

What’s going through her mind when she’s got the immigrants in front of her?
She thinks it’s insane. It’s like she hasn’t got the capacity to understand what she’s seeing in front of her. It’s just too much. It’s crazy but also it’s incredibly painful seeing all these people in there.

What does she decide to do with them?
Jacqui’s got incredible morals, even though she’s this chavvy monster that runs round the village, she has morals and chooses to let these people go. Ultimately she makes the right decision, well, the right one for them but the wrong one for her. She tells them to run as fast as they can and stay away from the main roads. Letting them go has massive repercussions because now she has to make the delivery and blag that they are all still in there to get the cash. She has to arrange all the boxes to make sure it looks like they are still in there. She does a masterclass in acting and pretends. She thinks it’s worked at the time but it hasn’t.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/April/HO-TX-16.04.13-02.jpg

Trevor, who was expecting the delivery, realises what she’s done and comes after her, is there a big showdown?
Yes, the director was like ’You’re going to crash through that, roll over that and end up over there’, I was like ’OK’ and we did it. It all happened so quick but we got it all. It was great fun to film. Trevor throws Jacqui over a table and everything, it’s really violent. She ends up cowering in the corner and she really believes those will be her final moments. He’s a nasty man and as big as her mouth is, Jacqui is just a young woman, she’s not Superwoman. He’s a big, tough man who wants to beat the living daylights out of her and kill her.

Thankfully, someone comes to her rescue!
Tony smashes a plant pot over Trevor’s head. Jacqui’s on the floor with her hands over her face waiting for the beating to start so she doesn’t even know it’s Tony until Trevor slumps to the floor he’s standing there like a knight in shining armour. I know it’s sounds silly but it’s serious at the time.

Jacqui then makes the decision to leave Chester to protect her family from any revenge attacks from Trevor, was that a hard decision for her to make?
Jacqui has always put her family first, I think that’s one of her biggest traits. She’s done stuff for them in the past but this is the biggest one yet. So they can have the best quality of life, she has to leave the village and make a swift exit. She can’t tell them because their lives are at risk and she can’t stand to lose any of them. She doesn’t want them to be involved in what she’s done so she can’t even say a proper goodbye. It’s heartbreaking. She looks at them all individually and says a silent goodbye. She feels terrible because they have no idea. But she would rather be by herself than have anything happen to any of them.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/April/HO-TX-19.04.13-07.jpg

Tony agrees to go with her and start a new life together, is he her soulmate?
I think Tony’s her soulmate. I think soulmates come at different points in your life, some come and stay, others don’t. I think when she was with Rhys he was her soulmate, she was very loyal to him. However, she’s always had a thing for Tony. When they allow their feelings out they are very close and true soulmates.

Are you happy with her exit?
I’m really pleased with my exit storyline. Bryan called me up and said ’what do you think about this’ and weirdly I’d thought about it two years ago. Bryan knows Jacqui so well and he was like ’right, I’m going to make this happen’. He’s just brilliant.

The good news is that she doesn’t die which means you could come back in the future...
I’ll never say never, at the end of the day I love Jacqui McQueen. Right now I’m saying goodbye to her but who knows what the future may hold. She’s not killed off which means she can come back!
