'Hollyoaks' Joseph Thompson: 'Browning's guilt will escalate'

Hollyoaks star Joseph Thompson has revealed that his character Doctor Browning's guilt over murdering Lynsey Nolan will escalate over the coming months.

Next week sees Browning turn nasty again after he makes a pass at newcomer Lindsey Butterfield in a lift.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/19/618x717/soaps-hollyoaks-joseph-thompson-doctor-browning.jpg

Thompson said to Soaplife: "This new Lindsey takes him right back to the time he killed Lynsey Nolan and it's psychological torment.

"He's starting to feel guilty about it and that isn't something he's experienced before. He doesn't really understand what he's feeling, but that combined with the wedding is a huge stress."

Speaking about whether Linsdey is in danger after Browning turns violent with her, Thompson said: "Anyone stuck in a lift with Dr Browning is in danger!

"You'd call it attack - he calls it feisty foreplay. He corners her in the lift and pulls the emergency lever. Then he goes to kiss her but she calls him 'a pathetic little man' so he turns nasty."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/22/618x426/soaps-hollyoaks-3624-1.jpg

Thompson revealed that despite his actions, Browning does genuinely love his fiancée Mercedes McQueen.

Thompson said: "He genuinely loves her. I think she's the first person he has ever felt connected to. He doesn't really understand it, but he does want to live happily ever after with her.

"But when he is faced with problems the week of the wedding, he starts to lose grip and control - and it is not good when Dr Browning is out of control.

"He has to get over the fact that he killed Lynsey. He's haunted by her death and the whole thing escalates. The next few months are really exciting."

It was recently reported that Myra McQueen would discover Browning's killer secret.

I am glad that they are revisiting the Lynsey being killed storyline and making Dr Browning feel guilt/remorse for his actions even if he continues to be more badder LOL!

'Hollyoaks' Thompson and Metcalfe: 'Browning, Mercy could be happy'

Hollyoaks stars Joseph Thompson and Jennifer Metcalfe believe that their characters Doctor Browning and Mercedes McQueen can be happy together.

The pair are due to get married later this month, but the wedding may not go ahead when Mercedes discovers that Browning made a pass at Lindsey Butterfield in a lift.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/19/300x225/soaps-hollyoaks-joseph-thompson-doctor-browning.jpg

http://i2.cdnds.net/10/15/soaps_holloaks_jennifer_metcalfe_02.jpg

However, Browning attempts to get himself out of the situation by making out that it was Lindsey who tried to kiss him.

Metcalfe said to All About Soap: "Mercy loves him so much, she really wants to believe that he's telling the truth, but she does have her doubts.

"Browning pretty much has to drag her down the aisle kicking and screaming. It's so unconventional - it's fab!"

Thompson added: "The day really sums up their relationship perfectly: it really is absolutely classic Browning and Mercedes - tempestuous and full of fireworks."

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/29/618x512/soaps_hollyoaks_3400_6.jpg

Speaking about the future for their alter egos, Metcalfe said: "They drive each other insane, but they're proper soulmates. She really could be happy with him because it means dramas and arguments every day."

Thompson said: "Browning's convinced they can make a life together and that Mercedes wants to be with him no matter what.

"His ego is huge, but let's not forget that this is a guy who is getting away with murder!"

True, it would be interesting to see him in another role and maybe that is something Kieron would want to do in the future, we don't know but I personally cannot see it atm because it is obvious to me how much he enjoys being at HO and the actors are always going on about how much fun they have working there and how close they are as a cast, but people come and go!

'Hollyoaks': Sophie Austin teases shock Lindsey, Browning showdown

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/20/618x660/soaps-hollyoaks-lindsey-butterfield-sophie-austin.jpg

Hollyoaks newcomer Lindsey Butterfield faces a frightening ordeal next week as she sees Doctor Browning's true colours in dramatic scenes.

After Lindsey has attended a lecture that he's given, Browning (Joseph Thompson) corners his protégée in a lift and makes a move on her, before turning very nasty indeed when she rejects him.

Digital Spy recently chatted to Sophie Austin, who plays Lindsey, to hear about the big episode and her time at Hollyoaks so far.

After a couple of months filming at Hollyoaks, how are you finding it?
"It couldn't be better - I absolutely love it! Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly in the cast and the crew. That includes everyone from make-up, costume, lighting and design. There seems to be a really good vibe about the place.

"It's also been great to start with the new family. I've just been really lucky and fortunate not to have to start on my own, as I've been able to be part of a proper family straight away. I'm enjoying every minute."

Was your audition process quite long, as was the case with the Roscoe boys?
"With the lads, it was quite a long process because of the characters being related and getting that chemistry right. My own audition process was only a couple of weeks, really. I'd met a few of the casting people before so they obviously knew me before this.

"I had my audition and then later had a screen test with Ayden [Callaghan] who plays Joe, and just got on with him straight away. The chemistry seemed to be right so I got the part!"

How do you describe Lindsey?
"The nice thing about Lindsey is that she's quite a dominant role and I think she'll be a good role model for a lot of people. She's really feisty, but she's also really affectionate and kind. She cares a lot for her family and her friends. That's why she's so close to the Roscoes, because she sees them as her family.

"Lindsey is also really ambitious. She's got a real career mind to her, she wants to succeed in her job and she takes a lot of pride in her work. When it comes to her feisty side, she'd never start a fight but she'd always finish it!"

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/21/618x411/roscoes-2.jpg

Are Lindsey and Joe a strong couple, or could they have some problems?
"They're a very strong couple and they don't keep secrets. They've been together for quite a few years, and because Lindsey has moved up to Chester to be with Joe, that shows the strength of their relationship.

"Joe as a character has got quite a past, and it wasn't until he met Lindsey that he got on the straight and narrow. She helps him a hell of a lot, and vice versa. Joe is Lindsey's everything and she can't imagine her life without him."

Does Lindsey get on well with Joe's four brothers?
"I'm quite pleased that she does! Obviously when you start in a new family you never know what the relationships are going to be like, but the good thing about the Roscoes is that regardless of what happens, they're strong and they stick together. That's why they've moved up to the village together.

"The lads are pretty much like Lindsey's brothers. Freddie in particular is like Lindsey's best friend and she confides in him a lot. She sees the goodness in him, and if he does anything wrong, she wants him to be a better person.

"That's the case with all the boys - Lindsey encourages them. In a way, Lindsey is Sandy's sidekick and she helps her to bring the family together."

What does Lindsey make of Doctor Browning at the moment?
"Browning is quite charming at first, so I think Lindsey's main concern at the moment is just wanting to do a good job. Browning is obviously her mentor at the hospital, so she wants to work hard for him and she even sees him as a role model.

"But Lindsey isn't a stupid character and she doesn't suffer fools gladly, so as the weeks go on, she becomes slightly more wary of him. She does have to watch out, though, as she doesn't want to jeopardise her job."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/22/618x426/soaps-hollyoaks-3624-1.jpg

How does the frightening encounter between Lindsey and Browning in the lift come about?
"It's the week before Mercedes and Doctor Browning's wedding, so Mercedes has become quite a bride-zilla! Browning is releasing a lot of his pent-up frustration in conversations with Lindsey, because she's down-to-earth and he finds it easy to talk to her.

"Browning asks Lindsey to come to a lecture that he's giving, I think partly so that he can show off in front of her! Afterwards, they're in a lift together and there are some crossed wires between them. The lift stops and Browning goes for Lindsey, in more ways than one! But you'll have to wait and see what happens after that…"

Were you pleased to be given such dramatic scenes straight away?
"Definitely! I've just been really, really lucky to be given some great storylines. When you first start in a soap, you want to create a strong character and I've been really fortunate to be given these straight away.

"I also think these scenes will show the feistiness of Lindsey, which is what I really wanted to bring across with the character. She's from London and she's got a bit of street about her, so I was chuffed to show that."

Inevitably, some fans have been making comparisons between your character and Lynsey Nolan since your casting was announced. Has that put you under any pressure?
"Well, when I came to the audition, I was pretty much told the difference between the two characters straight away, and I think that comes across quite well on camera. Being compared to Karen Hassan is amazing because she's just brilliant. I've also been fortunate enough to meet her and we got on really well.

"I'm not too fussed about being compared to somebody else because I think the viewers will hopefully see the difference between the two characters. If I've done a good job, I hope that will come across - but being compared to somebody like Karen is certainly not a bad thing!"

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/23/618x531/soaps-hollyoaks-sophie-austin-lindsey-butterfield.jpg

How does Hollyoaks compare to your previous acting work?
"This is probably the most long-term role that I've had. My characters before have tended to be raunchier characters. I quite enjoyed doing that, but this is a bit more long-term and there's a lot of different sides of Lindsey that I'm able to explore. It's the best job I've had!"

How long has acting been a passion of yours for? Has it been a long road to get to this point?
"I come from a family of performers. Both of my parents performed and my sister as well. It's always been in my blood and I performed from such a young age. I started going to dance school when I was about 4. It was never really a decision, it's just who I am. I've been very fortunate to get a hell of a lot of support from my family, which has encouraged me even more.

"There are so many brilliant actors out there and not many jobs, so it's just a case of waiting for that opportunity. I think the biggest thing about this business is having the energy to keep going and doing your best. I've only started doing TV in the last two years so it has been a long road, but it's been an interesting and good one, so I'm definitely not complaining!"

Sophie seems lovely and I am liking Lindsey so far. I think she will prove to be a good character:).

Hollyoaks exclusive: Mark Wingett joins the cast

The Bill actor causes a storm

The Bill star Mark Wingett is joining Hollyoaks, we can exclusively reveal.

Telly fans will know Mark from his days playing DC Jim Carver in ITV’s hit cop drama The Bill.

We can reveal that Mark will be seen in Chester for the first time later this month and he is going to play a filthy rich football manager.

He will only be in the soap for a couple of episodes but his arrival will have massive consequences for one young Chester teenager.

A show insider said: "Mark’s character crosses paths with one young lady and what happens between them will be huge for her.

"He’s filthy rich and used to getting what he wants and one incident between them will set off a chain of events that will have serious consequences for the lady in question."

Sounds good:). I wonder who the lady in question is?

I love that Mercedes is a minx!

Hollyoaks’ Jennifer Metcalfe wants more drama

Jennifer Metcalfe hopes her Hollyoaks alter ego is never truly happy because she’s at her best when the chips are down.

Mercedes McQueen is a force to be reckoned with in the Village and Jennifer says it’s the feisty side of the character that she loves the most.

So she’s hoping that the soap’s script writers keep pouring on the misery the gobby lass.

Jennifer laughed: “She’s at her best being minxy and destructive - I love playing her when she’s like that.

“She doesn’t mean to destroy everything, she doesn’t consider the consequences.

“Mercedes is used to getting her own way and thinks that no matter what she does, everything will turn out right in the end.”

It looks like Jennifer has got her wish as Mercedes is going to have a very dramatic wedding day!

We can confirm that star of The Bill, Mark Wingett, is set to join Hollyoaks later this month.

http://www.e4.com/media/N0vBMlDjdLUUaupK6ZQeJ.jpg

But don’t expect to see his doing the beat around those hallowed slabs of Hollyoaks Village. Mark doesn’t play a copper and he’s not here to clean up the village. Rather, he’ll be playing a filthy-rich businessman, who uses his dough to get what he wants. His character’s arrival in town will have major consequences for one young lady in the village…

Tune in to see Mark’s arrival, later this month…

'Hollyoaks' Gemma Bissix: 'I'll keep my clothes on for Clare role'

Hollyoaks star Gemma Bissix has admitted that she wants to stay covered up on the soap.

The actress, who plays superbitch Clare Devine, told the Birmingham Mail that her days of stripping off should stay in the past now that she has turned 30.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/12/618x495/soaps-hollyoaks-gemma-bissix-clare-devine.jpg

Bissix explained: "There's only a certain number of times I can take my clothes off and people aren't disgusted by it. Hollyoaks is moving forward with new characters.

"When I returned briefly earlier this year, I thought there were a lot of very young actors, with the older cast playing mothers. I'm in between, but at 30 I feel I'm getting old. Next they'll be giving me a child!"

Clare arrived back on screen for a short storyline in March, with plans for a longer stint later in the year.

Bissix has now confirmed that she will return to filming at Hollyoaks in July for scenes due to air in September.

She said: "That's all I can say though, the storyline is top secret. Clare is really good fun to play. Just when I think she can't get any worse, she does."

'Hollyoaks': Ste's mum Pauline to make another return

Hollyoaks' Ste Hay looks set to feature in even more drama when his mother Pauline pays another visit.

Julie Hogarth, who plays Pauline, has been spotted back on set at the Channel 4 soap and will reappear on screen later in the summer.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/22/618x710/soaps-hollyoaks-kieron-richardson-ste-hay.jpg

Show bosses are keeping the length of Pauline's stay and the storyline under wraps at this early stage, but fans know that Ste (Kieron Richardson) is never happy to see his mum.

Pauline was last seen for a short stint in October and November, when Ste's then-partner Doug Carter made the mistake of inviting her to the village.

Since then, it's been all change for Ste as he is currently on a downward spiral following Brendan Brady's dramatic departure. Time will only tell how outspoken Pauline might react to the latest developments in her son's life!

Good news. Pauline is vile, but it is interesting for Ste to see his Mom again and for us viewers again to explore his background.

Patrick shows his true colours

Hollyoaks pictures: Maxine feels his wrath

Hollyoaks fans know that there’s a nasty side to Patrick Blake but one woman is in the dark - Maxine Minniver.

That might be about to change when the poor lass gets a glimpse of his true colours.

He violently turns on her after a work function because he feels embarrassed when she tried to dance with him.

Maxine is left dumbstruck by his actions but one woman who knows all too well is Patrick’s ex wife Anna.

And she’s spotted Patrick’s violent episode with Maxine.

Watching him and realising he’s still a possessive thug confirms Anna’s fears that he is the one who killed Texas Longford.

A show insider said: "Anna is hell bent on getting to the truth and making Patrick pay."

'Hollyoaks' Jennifer Metcalfe: 'Signing new contract an easy decision'

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe has revealed that staying on the soap for another year was an easy decision to make.

It was recently reported that Metcalfe has signed a new contract which will guarantee she stays on the show for at least another year.

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/08/618x754/soaps_hollyoaks_mercedes_mcqueen.jpg

Metcalfe said to Inside Soap: "I've signed a contract to take me up to September next year.

"After seven years, it's easy to just see this as a job, but all the new people who've come in have injected a new enthusiasm - there's a real freshness.

"It's great when your work doesn't feel like work!"

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/23/618x437/soaps-hollyoaks-3628-2.jpg

Metcalfe also admitted that she had reservations when she found out Mercedes was getting married again.

She said: "When I first heard Mercedes was getting married again, I thought, 'Really, again?' But this wedding is like none of the others she's had - it stands on its own.

"The writers have gone for it, and it's very apt for Mercedes and Browning's relationship - just mental!"

Good:). Mercedes is awesome and Jen is one of the high profile actors on the show, it must be so fun to work at Hollyoaks!

'Hollyoaks Later' returning for sixth series with former stars

Hollyoaks bosses have announced that late-night spinoff show Hollyoaks Later is returning for a sixth series.

Former cast members James Redmond (Rory 'Finn' Finnigan), Jeremy Edwards (Kurt Benson) and John Pickard (Dom Reilly) will all feature in the new run of after-dark specials.

This year's series has been tipped to take viewers "on an epic ride of Hangover-style proportions" as Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) reunites with his old friends and his brother.

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/20/618x445/tony-2.jpg

As he continues to battle cancer, Tony will team up with the gang alongside a host of unexpected and unhinged characters throughout Spanish and Moroccan locations.

Fans can also expect Esther Bloom (Jazmine Franks) and Tilly Evans (Lucy Dixon) to take centre stage in a "chilling" storyline as they celebrate an 18th birthday in a spooky location.

Elsewhere, Theresa (Jorgie Porter) will join up with a new recruit of the McQueen clan on a wild road trip.

http://i1.cdnds.net/11/48/soaps_hollyoaks_lucy_dixon.jpg

Hollyoaks Later is currently in pre-production and is due to transmit in the autumn. As usual, five hour-long episodes will air on consecutive nights across one week in a post-watershed timeslot.

Jane Steventon, who took charge of last year's successful series, will once again be the show's producer. The series will be executive produced by Hollyoaks boss Bryan Kirkwood.

Kirkwood commented: "We are very happy to announce the commissioning of series six of Hollyoaks Later. It is a returning series that gives an annual late night treat to loyal Hollyoaks fans."

Lee Mason, Channel 4's editor for drama commissioning, added: "We're thrilled to be bringing back Hollyoaks Later for a sixth series and with it some of our best loved Hollyoaks faces.

"Tony's cancer battle is an important story for us to tell and we're so excited to be able to explore it further within the high octane, highly emotional and sometimes shocking world of Hollyoaks Later."

'Hollyoaks' Sarah Jayne Dunn: 'Mandy may be returning'

Former Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn has revealed that she might be returning to the soap.

The actress, who has played Mandy Richardson on and off since 1996, hinted at the news while being interviewed on Channel 5's The Wright Stuff today (June 12).

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/24/618x413/soaps-sarah-jayne-dunn-2.jpg

Reflecting on her Hollyoaks career, Dunn commented: "I was only 14 when I started and I started for two episodes. I finished my two episodes and got everyone's autograph, got a photo with everyone and said, 'Right, thank you, bye!'

"Everyone was saying to me, 'You're going to be back, you're the sister of one of the main characters!' I was like, 'No, no, I've finished'. I think I'm still the longest-serving female character!"

She added: "Possibly in the next few months I might be making a little sneaky return. Gemma Bissix has [also] returned and it's very exciting, actually."

Dunn's last appearance on Hollyoaks was in September 2011. Speaking at the time, she stated that it was time to "move on" but refused to rule out a future return.

I hope so. Her last return was a flop, but with Bryan Kirkwood back it would work better because he knows the character of Mandy inside out.

'Hollyoaks': Nicole Barber-Lane teases Myra's shock discoveries

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/22/618x685/soaps-hollyoaks-nicole-barber-lane-myra-mcqueen.jpg

Hollyoaks matriarch Myra McQueen is horrified next week as she finally discovers the terrible truth about Lynsey Nolan's murder.

Myra learns of Doctor Browning's guilt when she eavesdrops on a conversation he's having with Mercedes on the day of their wedding.

Deeply disturbed to realise that her daughter is about to marry a killer, Myra's whole world is turned upside down - but can she ever convince Mercedes to dump the twisted doc once and for all?

Digital Spy recently caught up with Nicole Barber-Lane, who plays Myra, to hear about the big episodes on the way for her character.

We've seen a lot more of Myra recently! Are you enjoying being so busy on screen?
"Yes, it's absolutely fantastic. I'm loving it and I've been filming some brilliant stuff. I'm very grateful for that, to be honest."

Do you think it's been a good move to bring the older characters into the thick of things a bit more?
"I definitely do, and it's great for all of us to be included. We're still exploring stories from the teenagers' point of view, but we're also getting the whole picture now. I think it's a good way to show the younger viewers where their parents are coming from!"

Myra makes a few big discoveries in the next few episodes, and the first is when she finds out that Bart isn't Katy's father. How does she react?
"That really upsets Myra. She's been feeling a bit funny about this situation anyway, as she hasn't really been over to see the O'Connors and the new baby. She really didn't think she'd be welcome after Bart did a bunk! But then Myra bumps into Sinead and is quite pleased to find that she's actually okay with her.

"Myra is really excited about getting to know the baby a bit better after that, because it's all about family with the McQueens. Then all of a sudden, she overhears Sinead and Diane talking about how the baby isn't Bart's at all. Myra is really shocked, especially as she's been thinking about and worrying about this baby for months now. I think it's going to hit Myra quite hard."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/24/618x412/soaps-hollyoaks-mcqueen-family.jpg

What is Myra's current opinion of Doctor Browning?
"Oh, she loves him - he couldn't be a better son-in-law! Myra has been so excited about the wedding, and she thinks it's so fantastic that he's got loads of money. It's just all coming right for her, or so she thinks!"

But then Myra starts to smell a rat over Browning and the new character Lindsey Butterfield...
"Yes, it's one of those cases where Myra overhears something suspicious between those two and decides to investigate further. She then finds a CCTV photograph of Browning which seems to show him making a pass at Lindsey. Myra keeps it under her hat for a bit, but then she goes to confront him.

"What you've got to remember is that Myra wants her daughters to be happy. She does want Browning to be faithful, but she really wants this wedding to go ahead too! When she does confront him, Browning and Jim manage to convince her that Lindsey came on to him and not the other way around. Browning does a good job of painting himself as the innocent party!

"Myra believes it because she wants to, so she gives him the benefit of the doubt. She does give him a hard time at first because she's not a walkover, but ultimately she lets it go."

How does Myra end up trapped in a wardrobe on the morning of the wedding?
"She's trying to recover the engagement ring, because Mercedes has thrown it in a fit of rage after Joe Roscoe has told her what Browning has done. Myra knows that it's a rock worth a load of money and thinks Mercedes is crazy, so she goes rooting round trying to find it again.

"While she's in there, Mercedes and Browning come charging up the stairs having a big argument. Myra decides to listen in and see what's going on. Instead of getting involved, she decides to have a quick listen because she's a nosy parker!"

How does Myra feel when she overhears them talking about how Browning really did kill Lynsey?
"Well, the problem is that he's not a McQueen yet! We do have a killer in the family already - little Theresa! But Theresa is cute, she's a McQueen and Myra thinks that she's already paid for her crimes.

"Myra's opinion of Browning is completely different - she now thinks that he's a threat and a danger to her daughter. She just can't believe it, because she's trusted this man with her life. Myra put him on a pedestal, so when she finds out that he's taken a life, it really shakes her belief in her own judgement."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/23/618x395/soaps-hollyoaks-3628-4.jpg

What happens next?
"Myra tries to get out of the cupboard to say her piece, but she's trapped inside! Browning then drags Mercedes off to get married, but Myra isn't sure whether it will actually go ahead. Mercedes is protesting so much that it doesn't look like it will be happening. Myra definitely doesn't want Mercedes to marry him now, as she knows that he's done something much more serious than cheating on her!"

How does Myra react when she sees Mercedes next?
"We can't give away whether the wedding has gone ahead, but there are some great scenes between Myra and Mercedes. Myra tells her that she just can't be with this man, so they're having a full-on row about it! I'm really looking forward to seeing these scenes. Sometimes when you're doing a scene you just get a little bit lost in it all, and that's what happened here. The emotions were all over the place!"

Can you understand why Myra covers up for her family so much?
"With Myra, it's always a loyalty thing - it's complete and utter loyalty. No matter what they do, she can talk her way into believing that they did it for the right reasons. Myra is always able to give them an excuse. Even when Niall took them captive and tied them up with the church explosion, she would have still forgiven him and blamed herself!

"There's always a way for Myra to see that things are okay and that she can help her brood in her own way. To be fair, I don't think there are any evil McQueens. The closest we've got is Kathy, Theresa's mum!"

Browning later gets a scarf and a threatening note over Lynsey's murder. Could Myra be the mystery sender?
"She could be - who knows? I couldn't possibly tell you who sent those to Browning!"

'Hollyoaks': Nicole Barber-Lane on awards, Roscoe newcomers and more

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/23/618x537/soaps-hollyoaks-nicole-barber-lane-myra-mcqueen.jpg

Hollyoaks favourite Nicole Barber-Lane recently caught up with Digital Spy to reveal Myra McQueen's take on next week's Mercedes and Browning wedding dramas.

If you haven't read the main chat yet, take a look here for all the gossip on how Myra reacts to the truth about Lynsey's murder!

Below, Soap Scoop presents the second part of our interview, which contains some bonus snippets from Nicole…

How do you feel about Hollyoaks doing so well at the Soap Awards last month?
"Excited! That was one of the best years for me, for many reasons. To win five awards was brilliant, as it was just one away from the show's previous record of six from a few years back.

"I was nominated for 'Best Comedy Performance' and it was the first time that I'd been up for anything at all. It was just an absolute honour, and I can't tell you how much that meant to me. I did stand up when Patti Clare was announced as the winner, but that was on purpose! I'd decided that I was going to stand up whether I won or not, because I knew it could be my only chance! (Laughs.)

"I loved seeing Claire Cooper getting her award. I was sitting just behind her and when they were about to announce the winner, I was just thinking, 'Please, please give it to her!' When they said Claire's name, me and Jorgie [Porter] just burst into tears!

"The 'Spectacular Scene' deserved to win too, and so did Emmett, Kieron and Danny for their awards. I was also really pleased for Joseph Thompson as I've worked a lot with him. I can't tell you how great he is to work with, and he's such a nice person. He's really down-to-earth and a really good guy."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/20/618x808/soaps-bsa-ceremony-11.jpg

Do you ever hear from your on-screen son Barry Sloane now that he's a big star in Revenge?
"Believe it or not, yes! We do tweet and direct message each other occasionally. Barry is another really nice lad and I need to get hold of him because we all need to go out for a drink."

What do you make of his post-Hollyoaks success?
"I'm really, really chuffed for Barry that he's done so well. I'm also really proud. You sort of know beforehand when people are going to do well, and there's a few other people I expect to see great things from.

"Some people get the breaks and some don't, but Barry has done so well and I'm so pleased for him. It's weird, because even though the show is so big and it's in America, it doesn't feel like that because it's just 'Barry who we've been working with'. You can still have a laugh with him and he's just a normal, good guy."

How do you feel about your husband Liam Fox becoming a soap star in his own right as Dan Spencer in Emmerdale?
"It's great! I'm really, really pleased for many different reasons. I think Liam really deserves it and it's great to see him doing so well. But he only got the job because of me! (Laughs.) That's a joke, but you can put it in and it'll cause a row between us later!"

With so many Hollyoaks newcomers this year, have you made friends with any of them in particular?
"Well, Gillian [Taylforth] shares a dressing room with me and some of the others, and she's lovely. Sophie [Austin] who plays Lindsey is also really, really lovely and very funny. She's a really nice girl. All of the lads are really good too. Fab [Santino] who plays Ziggy makes me laugh in particular!

"If I'm honest, I really feel that Hollyoaks is going from strength to strength. I think the Roscoes are going to be a massive part of that and I really can see them being the lynchpin of the new style of Hollyoaks. They've brought in the older mum and there's a few other older characters around now too. I think the show is going to be just so strong, and I'm really looking forward to it."

'Hollyoaks': Nikki Sanderson teases Maxine, Patrick, Sienna troubles

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/04/618x575/soaps-hollyoaks-nikki-sanderson-maxine-minniver.jpg

Hollyoaks' Maxine Minniver is in for a shock next week as she sees Patrick Blake's nasty side for the first time.

Maxine is blissfully happy in her new relationship with Patrick (Jeremy Sheffield), but when she embarrasses the college headmaster at an important event, he lets his true colours slip for a moment…

Nikki Sanderson, who plays Maxine, recently chatted to Digital Spy about the incident and where the story might be heading in the longer-term.

How are you finding this new storyline for Maxine?
"I'm absolutely loving it. There are so many ups and downs in the storyline, both emotionally and physically. It's really interesting for me to play Maxine at the moment, because usually she's so bubbly, lively and happy-go-lucky, but we might start to see a different side of her in this story.

"I'm excited about what's on screen at the moment, but I'm also really looking forward to what's in store next. I can't reveal too much but what's coming up should be very interesting for me to play, especially how Maxine might adapt and change with it."

Even though they're so different, can you see why Maxine is attracted to Patrick?
"Definitely. They are complete opposites, but that's what draws them towards each other. I think Maxine sees something in Patrick that she wants to have in her life, because he's such an upstanding member of the community, very cultured and very intelligent.

"Maxine is none of that - she's illiterate, she doesn't really know much about the world, and she's never really been anywhere apart from Spain! Maxine is very street-smart, but she's not book-smart. She wants to be more like Patrick in some ways.

"It's the same with Patrick. He can be so uptight and OCD, but all of a sudden he's got this little wildcard on his hands, who lives life to the full and is very free-spirited. Patrick would like to bring some of that into his life, so even though the two characters are opposites, they each have something that the other craves."

Are you pleased to see Maxine going up in the world with her new job at College Coffee?
"I am - it's been fantastic filming all of that stuff. When Maxine becomes the manager of College Coffee, it does go to her head a little bit and she becomes a bit high and mighty! She can be a little bit cruel to the staff - especially George, God bless him!

"The power goes to Maxine's head and she thinks that she's better than she is, but it is great for me to be involved in the shop because it means Maxine features more in the threads of different people's storylines."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/24/618x796/soaps-hollyoaks-nikki-sanderson-maxine-minniver.jpg

Patrick seems pleased when things go wrong for Maxine at the shop, with George quitting in protest! Does Maxine see that Patrick doesn't really have her best interests at heart?
"There are definitely glimpses of it, but Patrick is so good at manipulating Maxine and changing her view on things. She could look at a colour and say it's blue, but he would convince her that it's green! Even if she does see those glimpses, Patrick is very good at reversing it and making Maxine think that she's the one in the wrong."

Things get worse when Maxine hosts an event for Patrick at College Coffee and tries to dance with him in front of the guests…
"Yeah, Maxine definitely puts Patrick on the spot, if I'm honest! I wouldn't do that in real life! It's a shame, as Maxine does a really good job with the event and Patrick is very impressed with everything that she's done. But then Maxine has a couple of drinks, gets a bit tipsy and ruins it all by grabbing Patrick to dance in front of his colleagues and various VIPs!

"Maxine pretty much forces him to do it even when he refuses, and she suffers the consequences because it's the first time she sees a nasty side to Patrick. When they're alone, he grabs her and tells her off. She's never seen that side of him before."

Is Maxine scared?
"It doesn't necessarily scare her, but more than anything she's very confused. She doesn't know why he's done that, because even though the audience have seen Patrick behave like this before, Maxine hasn't. He later switches back to being Mr Nice Guy again, so it's all very baffling for Maxine."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/23/618x444/soaps-hollyoaks-3629-4.jpg

Is it true that the Maxine and Patrick story will get bigger over the summer?
"It is! I can't say much about it, but it's safe to say that it's going to be a slow-burner. You're going to see a lot from Maxine and Patrick and it's going to develop a lot. It's very exciting and I'm glad it's going to be quite a slow one, because it means we can really give the story the time that it deserves."

Are you worried that Maxine could lose her feisty side if Patrick gets his way?
"We'll have to wait and see! Maxine is a very feisty, strong and independent woman, so it'll be very interesting to see how she deals with this. Will she stay the same person, or will she be manipulated into changing into somebody else?"

Do you see this as quite an important storyline to take on?
"Yes, I think it's an incredibly important storyline for us to be doing. That's why we want to make sure that it's the best and most truthful that it can possibly be. There are women out there in the same situation with controlling partners, so we really want to do it justice and show people what the signs are. That's why it's going to be such a slow-burner."

What is Jeremy like to work with?
"Wonderful, although don't tell him I said that! (Laughs.) He's just such a great person to work with and we get along so well. We have some good banter on set as we're always teasing each other! I'm quite lucky, as we're filming quite a long-running and heavy story together, so it's great that we do actually get along."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/22/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-sienna-blake-patrick-blake-maxine-minniver.jpg

Does Maxine worry that she's ruined her friendship with Sienna by dating Patrick?
"She does, yes. Maxine just keeps trying to keep Sienna on side, because she does care about her a lot. However, Maxine does really love Patrick, so she's in a difficult situation. Ideally she'd like to keep Sienna as a friend, but she doesn't want to lose Patrick either. It's a tricky balancing act!"

We've all seen how far Sienna will go when she disapproves of someone. Should Maxine be worried?
"I think Maxine should definitely be worried, but she won't realise that. Maxine still sees Sienna as a friend, so she just doesn't see that side of her. Maxine won't have a clue, but she should be careful because nobody seems to know what Sienna is really capable of…"

Nancy needs a friend at the moment! With Mitzeee gone, will Maxine take up the mantle?
"I'd like to think that Maxine would help Nancy out, especially after the friendship that Mitzeee had with her. Even though Maxine can be a bit of a cow, she does care about people and wants to make sure that they're alright.

"The only problem is that Sienna is the main reason that Nancy is feeling down, and Maxine still sees Sienna as a really good friend. She's stuck between a rock and a hard place, because she can't be more friendly with one over the other!"

Have you seen much reaction to the Maxine and Patrick story yet? Are the fans worried about Maxine?
"I think they are and they aren't. It's still really just the beginning of the story, so I'm getting a lot of people saying that Maxine shouldn't get with Patrick. But others are saying they love them together, so it's fantastic that the audience are getting involved either way. It'll be interesting to see if people's opinions change over time!"

Creepy Will Savage is husband material!

Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter on her fit fella

We all know James Atherton as creepy Hollyoaks killer Will Savage.
But behind those deadly eyes and oddball behaviour is a hunky fella who is “proper husband material”.

That’s the verdict from Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter, who has been dating James for a couple of years.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/June/43161493CA753FAA1CFC6A6E118DEA.jpg

She said: “I thought he was a right pest at the beginning. Then I realised how funny he was. And one day his big muscle man arms popped out and I was like,“Oh my God,hello!”.

“He made us all breakfast one morning too and I thought, ‘That’s proper husband material there’, but don’t tell him!”

She told TV Extra: “I like the fact he knows everyone I work with and we can all socialise together.

In work though,I totally ignore him. I think I get nervous because I don’t want everyone to be ‘Oh stop kissing’.”

'Hollyoaks': Dennis proposes to Leanne

Dennis Savage and Leanne Holiday could be about to get a happy ending with a romantic proposal on the way in Hollyoaks.

As we reported at the weekend, next week's episodes see troubled Anna Savage get the blame for Texas Longford's murder when scheming Patrick and Sienna team up to frame her, wanting her to be locked away for good.

Although it's bad news for Anna, the surprising development does mean that wrongly-accused Leanne (Jessica Forrest) is freed as the authorities are finally forced to accept that she didn't kill Texas.

Dennis (Joe Tracini) - who returns to the village later this week - is naturally thrilled over the news, having spent days protesting Leanne's innocence.

After being released, loopy Leanne starts to see Dennis in a new light as she knows that he had faith in her all along.

When Leanne declares her love for Dennis, he can't believe his luck and immediately pops the question. As the pair then become a proper couple and begin excitedly planning their wedding, are they going to be a match made in heaven?

'Hollyoaks' McQueen family plan fake Jacqui funeral

Hollyoaks' McQueen clan will be forced to fake Jacqui's death next month.

The popular family resort to the extreme measure when bad boy Trevor Royle (Greg Wood) threatens them, still wanting revenge against Jacqui after their big showdown in April.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/24/618x412/soaps-hollyoaks-mcqueen-family.jpg

Viewers will see the storyline begin when Phoebe McQueen approaches Trevor as she wants to purchase a fake passport for her new friend Vincent Elegba (John Omole), who fears being deported.

Well aware of Phoebe's connection to Jacqui, ruthless Trevor immediately takes action.

Mandip Gill, who plays Phoebe, told All About Soap: "She gets kidnapped by Trevor. To be fair, when she heads off, she doesn't realise she's going to be dealing with Trevor - she wouldn't put herself in that position. Phoebe realises she's in big trouble.

"[Trevor] wants Jacqui, but Phoebe knows she can never tell him where she is. Luckily, George and Vincent come to her rescue, and Ste manages to convince Trevor to release Phoebe.

"There's a big catch, though - Trevor keeps Vincent, and he warns Phoebe that unless she brings Jacqui to him within 48 hours, then he'll kill him and the rest of the McQueen family."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/22/618x662/soaps-hollyoaks-greg-wood-trevor-royle.jpg

When cunning Doctor Browning (Joseph Thompson) finds out what's going on, he tells the McQueens that they need to convince Trevor that Jacqui is dead. Browning even brings along a real corpse to place in a coffin at the McQueen house.

Gill explained: "Only Browning could come up with a plan that crazy! He tells the McQueens he'll get a fake body and then they're going to have a fake funeral. The plan is that Trevor will fall for the scam, think it's Jacqui and leave the family alone.

"But no-one, apart from Myra, actually realises that he's got hold of a real dead body! When [Trevor] comes round to the house, the body falls out of the coffin!"

'Hollyoaks' Doctor Browning turns nasty with Myra McQueen

Hollyoaks' Doctor Browning will turn nasty with Myra McQueen as he continues to feel haunted by the late Lynsey Nolan.

Magazine reports have revealed that Browning (Joseph Thompson) will be shocked when he finds a wreath on his door step with a label 'RIP Lynsey'.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/23/300x225/soaps-hollyoaks-nicole-barber-lane-myra-mcqueen.jpg

Later on, Browning goes for an interview for a consultant position but talk soon turns to Lynsey and he finds press cuttings from her murder in his files.

Convinced that Mercedes is behind these games, Browning confronts her but she assures him it has nothing to do with her.

However, Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) does reveal that Myra is aware he murdered Lynsey as she eavesdropped on a conversation between the pair on the day of their wedding.

Now certain that Myra (Nicole Barber-Lane) is the culprit, Browning heads over to the McQueens' and forces her up against the wall to threaten her.

Hollyoaks interview: I’ll kill everyone!

Saskia Wickham says Anna is desperate

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/June/HO-TX-24.06.13-2.jpg

How is she feeling about Patrick at the moment?
There’s no love between them. She’s seen him with Maxine and starting to display the abusive behaviour that he did to her. She escaped from the home because she wanted revenge but as soon as she saw him behaving like that with Maxine she knows she’s got to sort him out once and for all. She knows someone has to stop him. She doesn’t think she is mad but she’s been locked in a psychiatric unit by this man for 15 years. I don’t think she was mad when she went in, she suffered from postnatal depression and rather than have a loving and caring husband she had someone who used this to get her locked away. I think that must make you go a bit potty. I think she’s so obsessed with him, she’s fixated on wanting people to know the truth. She’s realised by this point that she can either sit in the mental home and do nothing, but having reconnected with her children she’s fearful for them so the only way something is going to happen is if she takes desperate measures. She believes he’s that evil that he needs to be killed and she’s willing to kill herself as well.

So what happens in his flat?
She’s bashed him over the head but she’s also drugged him. When he’s coming round after she’s hit him with the vase, he doesn’t really know where he is or what’s happened and she gives him a drink. There are drugs in the drink and she tells him, ’now you know what it feels like, this is what you’ve been doing to me’. Another reason she has to drug him is that he’s strong and could over power her, but also she knows he’s good at talking his way out of things. He’s very clever, she wants to be in total control. I think her absolute plan is that she’s going to kill them both. When he comes round she has already switched the gas on, but she wants him to know before he dies why she has decided to kill him. She wants revenge.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/June/HO-TX-24.06.13-2.jpg

She’s just about to do it and then Sienna walks in, how does she react?
It’s an utter game changer. I have to say that I found that really difficult to play. There’s a moment where she says to Sienna ’you have to leave because I have to do this’. Sienna won’t leave because she says that all she sees is this mad woman and her dad, who has looked after her all her life. There’s a pause when Anna has a think and then she says ’Well I’m just going to have to kill us all’. As a mum I found that very tough. It was tricky to play, the way I rationalised it in my head is that she’s so frightened for Sienna, she knows how terrible Patrick can be, that she feels that if Sienna won’t leave then it’s better for her to kill her than leave her under Patrick’s control. She must believe that he’s that evil t have got to the stage where she’s willing to blow them all up just to stop him. We shot all these scenes in one day, there were no tear sticks used, everything you see is real from all of us so by the end I was pretty shattered.

We can’t reveal how Sienna and Patrick escape, but they do, so what happens next?
Patrick is so delightful he decides to frame Anna for Texas’ murder. When the police arrive and arrest her she’s like ’Are you joking?’, she’s in the mental home and sedated but still knows she couldn’t possibly have killed her. That bombshell is followed closely by Will confessing everything to her. She then decides to plead guilty to murder. It means she’s got the upper hand on Patrick once more. She realises she’s never getting out of the mental home anyway, so it doesn’t matter if she goes down for murder. But what she can do is give her child a chance in life. There’s a great scene when Patrick comes to see her and he genuinely can’t understand why she’s doing it. He’s baffled and he doesn’t like not being in control. She says to him ’You really don’t know why I’m doing this’ and as he leaves she tells him ’Your new girlfriend is going to see you for what you are’. In that moment it’s the first time she has taken the control back.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/June/HO-TX-24.06.13-1.jpg

Is she shocked by Will’s confession?
Oh my god, completely. It makes you thinks what you would do if one of your children came to you and said they had done this terrible thing. There’s never a scene where you hear his explanation as to what happened with Texas so Anna is assuming that it was all a terrible accident and she fell out of the window. She doesn’t know he can walk, he’s playing her. He’s another troubled soul.

Has Anna finally got over her fear of Patrick?
Absolutely because there is nothing more he can do to her. By confessing to murder in a bizarre way she has taken back control. He hasn’t done that to her, she’s done it to herself. To her it’s a huge triumph.

How will Patrick deal with losing his control over her?
The short answer is that he will find another woman to control and it looks like that will be Maxine.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/June/annasav.jpg

Have you enjoyed this storyline?
It’s been the best! It’s been a great role to play, particularly at the beginning when she was pretending to be someone else. It’s like playing two characters! On top of that it’s without doubt the best place that I’ve worked in my life. It’s incredibly friendly, there’s no hierarchy going on, everyone shares the green room and you all muck in together. From the minute you walk in everyone’s so friendly. The other actors are a dream to work with, they are so dedicated to getting it right. I’ve never done soaps before and thought it would be about looking out for myself but it’s not like that at all. Everyone wants to make it incredibly special and I think that really showed at the soap awards this year. We’re such a small soap compared to Coronation Street and EastEnders but we won so many awards.

Do you get on with your co-stars Jeremy Sheffield, Anna Passey and James Atherton?
God yes! We’re like a dysfunctional family! We always go out for dinner together. They are so lovely. I completely adore Jeremy and spend most of my spare time with him, he’s the most charming guy and what a phenomenal actor. The young guys, Anna and James, I’m just so impressed by them. I don’t think I was as dedicated as they are when I started out. I feel humbled by them, they want everything to be spot on. They are constantly thinking how lucky they are to be there and how they can make the soap better and there’s nothing better than that.

Hollyoaks interview: Sinead’s hooker hell

Stephanie Davis admits Sinead’s in trouble

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/Oaks%20cast/28ACB27DB8535D334FEBACB15C9.jpg

Sinead starts the week on a massive high when she goes on a date with Ziggy, how does she feel?
She gets asked out on a date by Ziggy Roscoe and says yes. Straight away it’s like he’s fallen in love with her and she can’t believe it, she’s made up. She can’t believe she’s there with a pram and a kid but he still wants to be with her. They go for a meal and they end up sleeping together. She wakes up the next day and she doesn’t know what he’s going to be like, whether he’s going to regret it. He doesn’t, he just kisses her so she can’t believe it, she’s made up. But as soon as she leaves he realises it’s not going to work because she’s got a kid. Sinead is devastated. She gets a text which she thinks is off Ziggy but it’s not it’s off one of his brothers. Sinead goes all dressed up and he completely embarrasses her in front of everyone.

Why does Cindy get involved?
Cindy was there and saw it all and she just tells her to ignore him and she calls him a pig. She takes Sinead for a drink and tells her she needs an older man in her life, someone with money. I think Cindy has her eye on Ziggy herself! They’ve always had this love/hate relationship so Sinead decides to take Cindy’s advice.

What does she do next?
She sees there’s a VIP night at the Loft with a load of footballers. She asks Ruby to go with her and gets all dressed up. She looks like mutton dressed as lamb - red lipstick, dark eyes, her hair looks like a snake on her head, tacky dress! She thinks she looks good but she looks like a tramp. No one even looks at her twice, they are all interested in Ruby. Sinead is really annoyed so ends up getting drunk at the bar. She gets chucked out of the club and this guy called Frank comes after her and he’s like ’come back to the hotel, I’m the football manager, I’ll take care of you tonight’. She goes to the hotel with Ruby but she doesn’t like the look of it so she ends up leaving her.

She ends up putting herself in a dangerous situation...
She gets put in this position with Frank where he basically says to her to stay with him for the night and he’ll pay her. He tells her she doesn’t need to worry about money. She ends up chickening out and goes home. But the next day she’s sat in the flat, hungover and Ste needs money so she digs out Frank’s card and she calls him and agrees to meet him.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/2013/June/HO-TX-28.06.13-7.jpg

So does she prostitute herself?
Well, she gets the money but it’s what she does to get it! The only thing on her mind is money and she doesn’t care what happens to her as long as she gets her hands on some. Deep down she knows it’s prostitution. She’d starve as long as Katy was OK but she can’t even afford nappies for her, she’s desperate. She needs help and will do whatever it takes to fend for herself. I can’t reveal exactly what happens but it’s a dark path for Sinead, she’s in the gutter.

Why won’t she confide in her friends about her financial situation?
She’s got too much pride. They are all off doing stuff that costs money so she can’t go, but she won’t ever say that she can’t afford it.

What do you think about this twist in Sinead’s storyline?
I think it’s been really good, I’m excited about it. Mark Wingett, who plays Frank, was brilliant to work with. I think he’s brilliant, I used to watch him when I was a child so to work with him, so to film with him was brilliant. I’ve been really enjoying it and it’s great to think about where this could possibly go. Sinead is in a desperate situation, it’s really sad. There are a lot of dark times ahead for Sinead and you’ll see her being very vulnerable. She’s going to feel very alone.

Is it fun to film the club scenes when Sinead’s drunk?
She’s not totally bladdered, she keeps her wits about her. Thankfully I’ve never had to be completely drunk. Ruby’s had loads of those moments and I’ve had to be there, it’s horrible. Obviously to make it look like you’re vomiting they put cold soup in your mouth and you have to pretend to vomit it up. I haven’t had that yet, thank god, all my scenes have been just me staggering around. I’m so happy I haven’t had to do that yet because I think I would actually vomit!

Do you like Sinead’s trashy outfits?
I love it, it’s so much fun. You might hate the outfit at the time but when you see it on TV it looks perfect for the character, it looks perfect. Claire Cooper who played Jacqui used to walk round in stuff and I’d feel sorry for her! Some of the stuff I’ve had to wear, I don’t want to go into the canteen because I don’t want people to think they are my actual clothes!

It sounds like you are really enjoying playing Sinead?
I am, it’s been brilliant. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been put in positions when I’ve been truly tested, somethings haven’t been pleasant or nice but as long as it looks good on the TV at the end of the day that’s all that matters.

That Dr Browning loves her, that she likes the dangerous spark they have and told Myra about the reasons why he killed Lynsey e.g. her finding out about Mercedes stabbing herself and threatening to go to the Police.

'Hollyoaks': Joe Tracini on Savages, new cast and Emmett Scanlan

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/25/618x589/soaps-hollyoaks-joe-tracini-dennis-savage.jpg

Hollyoaks funnyman Joe Tracini recently caught up with Digital Spy to chat all about Dennis Savage's return to the village.

For Joe's thoughts on Dennis's comeback and his future with loopy Leanne Holiday, don't miss the first part of the Q&A here for all the storyline gossip you need.

Here, Soap Scoop presents some bonus snippets from Joe on life at Hollyoaks, the other ongoing Savage plots, and more!

Is there more coming up for Dennis and Doug's friendship?
"There are bits and bobs. When Dennis comes back, Doug is one of the first people that he sees. It's actually Doug who tells Dennis about Texas's murder. I've always liked working with PJ."

Would you like Dennis to be involved in Will's downfall?
"Absolutely! Will is a nasty piece of work so if he does get his comeuppance, it'd be great to be there when it happens and maybe have a hand in letting everyone know that he's not a pleasant man! But you never know - he might just kill people for 15 years. I'd quite like to see how he'd do that, to be honest!"

Were you shocked when you found out that Will would become a killer?
"It was a surprise, but when you watched it play out on screen, they really did spend a lot of time exploring where it all came from. They didn't rush it. Sometimes things have a tendency to be done quickly, but in this case they really did build the story up over a year. Texas's death really was one big accident, but there's no going back from it for Will now!"

How do you feel about the Savages becoming a bigger presence in the village?
"It's great. I think the family clicked together straight away and I've always loved working with them. It's nice to do more and also to have a nice balance. We do light-hearted stuff but then we also get serious scenes.

"It's nice to have Anna Passey and Jeremy Sheffield in the mix too as the Blakes, because they're lovely as well. Well, not so much Jeremy as he's a giant and I'm five foot four, and it really does hit my insecurities as a man when I stand next to him! (Laughs.)"

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/25/618x470/soaps-hollyoaks-savages.jpg

After you lived together for a while, are you missing Emmett Scanlan (Brendan)?
"The day that I miss Emmett Scanlan is a very sad day! I still speak to him, but not much as he's a taxing man! No, the answer is I don't miss him - not even a little bit! (Laughs.)

"I do think that the hole Emmett left in the show has been very successfully filled by everyone. There's obviously an element of missing him, because he was such a big presence. But I think the show has done really well to move on from that and build up new stories. The show has really flourished even with Emmett gone. And that's not any disrespect to Emmett - I disrespect him in my own time!"

Who have you made friends with from the new cast?
"I do like all of them, which I was quite shocked by! I wasn't sure at first as they're all incredibly attractive and I thought, 'This is probably a bit much!' I really get on with Charlie Wernham [who plays Robbie], as he's a really sweet lad. I constantly irritate him about the fact that he was on Britain's Got Talent and didn't get to the final!

"Ayden Callaghan [who plays Joe] is a lovely bloke too. He's got really happy eyes! It doesn't matter how he's feeling, his eyes are always happy! Fab who plays Ziggy is also great - he just walks around loving life, which is wonderful to see. But they're all a wonderful bunch up here at the moment - we're all having a great time."

Dodger might need a friend when he arrives back in the village. Could Dennis take on that role?
"Absolutely! When I first came into Hollyoaks, they really pushed how much Dennis loves Dodger. Obviously Dennis doesn't really understand the ins and outs of everything that's happened, but he's always going to be there for Dodger. Dennis also likes to be around to provide a comparison to Dodger's face, to make him look even better - which makes Dodger happy!"

'Hollyoaks': Joe Tracini talks Dennis return, surprise proposal

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/22/618x751/joe-tracini-as-dennis-3.jpg

Hollyoaks welcomes back Dennis Savage this week as he finally returns to the village after working away on an oil rig.

Dennis is his usual upbeat self as he arrives back, but he is soon faced with a few unpleasant surprises as he learns of Texas's murder and Leanne's prison ordeal.

Joe Tracini, who plays Dennis, recently caught up with Digital Spy to give us the lowdown on his character's comeback.

How does it feel to be back filming at Hollyoaks again?
"It feels great! I was gone for six months which was ages, but I do love it in this building. It's a bit different for me now because quite a few of my friends have left the show, but there's still a really nice vibe about the place and we're all having a good time. I'm over the moon to be back."

Did you enjoy the time off?
"I did enjoy the time off as I kept myself busy doing other stuff, but I really love what I do here at Hollyoaks. As much as I write and do other things, I enjoy acting more than anything else and I was really looking forward to coming back. I act because I'm not very good at anything else, so when I'm not acting, everything seems a bit pointless!"

Lots of people have been emailing us asking where Dennis is! Are you pleased that people seem to have missed him?
"It's really lovely that people care! The thing about soaps - which I've never really experienced with anything else - is that you're in people's houses every night when they're eating their dinner, so the viewers get really invested in the characters. It is nice that people have been asking when Dennis will be back, but I try not to think about it too much because I might get above my station!"

Is Dennis pleased to be back in the village?
"Well, Dennis has been off earning some money on an oil rig, so he's completely unaware of everything that's kicked off while he's been away. He's very happy at first but he finds out very quickly about Texas's death and Leanne - who's the love of his life - being in prison for the crime.

"Dennis is not happy and doesn't even consider the fact that Leanne might actually have done it. He doesn't hang about with trying to get her out of prison again!"

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/24/618x444/soaps-hollyoaks-3634-1.jpg

Does Dennis have any ideas on how he can help Leanne?
"Dennis has a million ideas, but none of them are particularly thought through! He literally tries to get as much help and support as he can from the various people in the village. You'll see that he runs around trying his best to get Leanne out in any way he can. But he hasn't come up with a Venn diagram or anything - he's literally flying by the seat of his pants!"

Does Dennis get much support with his crusade?
"Dennis does manage to get some support from the village, but obviously there are a lot of people who think that Leanne really did kill Texas. Those people aren't particularly forthcoming, but the people closest to Dennis are happy to help.

"They're also happy to see Dennis back in general, as he's quite a character! It's all been pretty gloomy with lots of people dying and having fights, so everyone's probably happy to see Dennis back being relatively chirpy!"

Is Will nervous about Dennis trying to clear Leanne's name?
"Yeah, Will is not happy! It's a funny one, as Will likes Dennis and Dennis likes Will in return. Will tries to stop Dennis from getting involved, so it's all a bit awkward!"

The good news is that Leanne is freed and Dennis proposes to her! How does that come about?
"Obviously Dennis loves Leanne and he has done for a long time. The main turning point is that Leanne has seen Dennis go to such a big effort to get her out of prison, when for the past two years she hasn't wanted much to do with him. When she comes out of prison, Leanne also says how much she's been thinking about Dennis. Basically she expresses a light interest and Dennis says, 'Well you might as well marry me, then!' He doesn't hang about and it's a lovely little scene.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/24/618x466/soaps-hollyoaks-3634-2.jpg

"I also have to say that I'm delighted to be working with Jess [Forrest, who plays Leanne] again. I was really lucky when I joined the show and they put me with her, because we get along so well. I also think she's a brilliant actress. I've been watching the prison stuff recently and thought she was fantastic."

We've seen in the past that Leanne has taken an interest in Dennis before changing her mind again! Will things be different this time around?
"I think that's the plan! Leanne herself is different this time round after everything that's happened to her, and I think she feels a level of safety around Dennis. Also, Dennis has grown up a bit as well. He's still awkward and a bit of an idiot, but he has matured a bit.

"The main thing is that Dennis and Leanne make each other better people, and they both see that. Leanne also sees that while everyone else around her has been so inconsistent, Dennis will always be there for her. I think there's a level of settling there as well, to be honest with you. Leanne decides she's been in the village for two years and hasn't had much luck with men, so Dennis will do!"

'Hollyoaks' Charlie Clapham: 'I'd love Freddie, Will Savage to cross paths'

Hollyoaks star Charlie Clapham has revealed that he loves the character of killer Will Savage.

Clapham admitted that he would like his role Freddie Roscoe to cross paths with Will in the future.

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/30/300x225/will-savage_1.jpg

Speaking to Inside Soap, Clapham said: "Will is intriguing - there is so much to play and so much to go on.

"James (Atherton) is a very intelligent actor, so of course he has done a great job. What makes Will so appealing as a character is seeing what writers have done to make him evolve.

"It's just a shame that Will and Freddie don't cross paths much - hopefully they will soon."

Clapham also hinted that something may develop between Freddie and his brother's fiancé Lindsey Butterfield.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/23/618x531/soaps-hollyoaks-sophie-austin-lindsey-butterfield.jpg

"Without saying too much, there's already a special bond between Joe's fiancé Lindsey and Freddie.

"It is fun for me because I really enjoy working with Sophie. She's just a really good actress."

'Hollyoaks' Gillian Taylforth on future: 'I have one-year contract'

Hollyoaks star Gillian Taylforth has hinted that she would like to stick with the soap beyond her current contract.

The former EastEnders actress is currently on a one-year deal playing Sandy Roscoe, a new matriarch for the Channel 4 show.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/18/618x443/soaps-hollyoaks-3609-8.jpg

In order to take on the role, Taylforth moved from Hertfordshire to Liverpool with her partner Dave Fairbairn and 14-year-old son Harrison.

Taylforth told Soaplife: "It's a year's contract and is too far to commute. I'd been in my home for 18 years, so it was a big decision to sell up. I miss my friends but so far it's going well.

"I got the backing of my children and Dave. Harrison has moved up with me and started a new school, but my daughter Jessica can't make her mind up. She's 21 and works as a hairdresser and she's got a job down south.

"Dave can pretty much work anywhere on a computer, so he agreed to move with us and see how it went."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/19/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-roscoe-family.jpg

When asked what she will do when her year at Hollyoaks is over, Taylforth expressed hope that she will be invited to stay on for longer.

She said: "I'll probably move back down to Hertfordshire because it's home and I love it there. But they might ask me to stay on at Hollyoaks. You never know. It's all quite exciting. I have no idea what the future holds."

Ste and Sinead: Partners in crime!

Steph Davis thinks they make the perfect odd couple

Stephanie Davis says she hopes her Hollyoaks alter ego joins forces with local bad boy Ste Hay.

The actress, who plays Sinead O’Connor, reckons she could see them becoming partners in crime and causing chaos around Chester.

Both characters are going through a dark patch involving plenty of seedy things like drugs and prostitution.

But Stephanie says they will always have each other’s back in the coming months.

She said: "I could see them becoming partners in crime, that would be a lot of fun.

"I think no matter what goes on or what one of them does, they will always have each other, they can always be 100% honest with each other.

"They are both the same really, they are on their own, they are both skint and they’ve both been through a bad time."

Stephanie and Kieron Richardson are best mates off set so they have a blast now they are getting to work with each other on camera.

Stephanie added: "I love it, me and Kieron are best friends off the show so we’ve been having the biggest laugh.

"If I know I’ve got a day filming with him then I know it’s going to be a brilliant day.

I think you can tell that we are good friends on screen because we just bounce off each other.

"We’ve both been here a while so we have such a laugh."

'Hollyoaks': Twitter account added to Browning stalker story

Hollyoaks bosses have added an online bonus element to the Browning stalker story, which viewers saw kick off last night.

'Hollyoaks' Sarah Jayne Dunn: 'Mandy Richardson role wasn't reality'

Former Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn has revealed that she originally left the soap to see if she could survive in the acting industry.

The actress, who has played Mandy Richardson on and off since 1996, recently hinted that she could be making a return to the show.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/24/618x413/soaps-sarah-jayne-dunn-2.jpg

Speaking to the Cambridge News, Dunn said: "It was the first time I'd gone out there to audition and that's why I left really because obviously starting at 14 that's all I knew of the industry and it's not the reality.

"The reality is being unemployed and being inbetween jobs and working on shorter stints of things.

"I was 24 and I wanted to see if I could do it and what it would be like doing the whole audition thing. But it's paid off; I've been busy thankfully."

Reflecting on her Hollyoaks alter ego, Dunn said: "Literally, there wasn't anything that Mandy didn't experience, which was great for me as an actress.

"I've been back a couple of times since leaving, which has been fun. I'm now officially the longest-serving actress in the soap!"

'Hollyoaks': Nick Pickard has body hair removed for Tony cancer story

Hollyoaks star Nick Pickard has shaved his head and had his body hair waxed for his on-screen cancer storyline.

The actor's character Tony Hutchinson was diagnosed with testicular cancer in May and was later informed that the illness had spread aggressively.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/26/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-nick-pickard-head-shaved.jpg

As Pickard is filming scenes which see Tony undergo chemotherapy treatment, he recently visited a salon in Liverpool for the removal of all his body hair, including his eyebrows.

His co-stars Ashley Taylor Dawson (Darren Osborne) and Jimmy McKenna (Jack Osborne) were present to offer moral support and even helped out with some of the waxing.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/26/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-nick-pickard-head-shaved-2.jpg

Pickard commented: "I am extremely honoured and humbled to be asked to portray Tony's current cancer storyline, therefore I had no doubts about having all my body hair removed in order to accurately depict the effects of chemotherapy treatment.

"We should all remember that it is the real life sufferers of cancer who show courage every day as they battle the disease."

'Hollyoaks': John Omole talks Vincent, George, Phoebe plot future

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/26/618x817/soaps-hollyoaks-john-omole-vincent-elegba.jpg

Hollyoaks has brought newcomer Vincent Elegba to the forefront of the soap this week as viewers are discovering more about his past.

Last night's (June 25) Channel 4 episode saw Vincent share a kiss with sixth former George Smith (Steven Roberts), before revealing that he left his country because it is illegal to be gay in Nigeria.

Digital Spy recently caught up with John Omole, who plays Vincent, to hear where the storyline is heading next.

How are you finding your time at Hollyoaks so far?
"It's been great. Everyone is so welcoming and we all have quite a bit in common because it's such a young cast. Even the older cast members are young at heart! I've built up some really good friendships."

Did you know Vincent's secret all along, or was it a surprise for you when you read the scripts?
"I knew from the start. When my agent sent me the details of the role, I was told that Vincent would end up being gay, even though we weren't quite sure how he was going to get there at that point!"

Now that we know Vincent is gay, what can we expect next from the storyline?
"Now that the truth about Vincent has been revealed to the viewers, it's really going to kick the storyline into gear. At first there was a lot of mystery because I think people were wondering, 'Who is this Vincent character?'

"Now you're going to see the story pick up the pace. You'll find out more about Vincent and how he's going to affect the people around him. Hopefully it was a nice surprise for the viewers and they're looking forward to what's coming next."

As we've seen, Phoebe thought Vincent had a romantic interest in her. Do you think he gave her any mixed signals?
"No, I don't think Vincent gave Phoebe any mixed signals - he literally just thought that he'd found such a good friend and he was being as close as a best friend would be. People may accuse him of leading Phoebe on because he's been so friendly towards her, but I think that was completely innocent. He's a nice guy and he'd never go out to lead someone on like that."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/17/618x417/ho-tx-030513-04.jpg

What are Vincent's feelings towards George?
"Vincent is very, very confused. He feels a very big attraction towards George, but he doesn't quite know what it is. George is definitely the first person Vincent has felt this way towards since he's come over to the UK. It's a mixed emotion of friendship, attraction and I think it later gets on its way to love.

"With Phoebe in the mix, Vincent also feels a sense of guilt because he could be coming between two very, very close friends. He feels every which way about George - he likes him but he's not sure if anything could ever happen between them, partly due to Phoebe and partly due to his own background."

Are you hoping Vincent and Phoebe can find a way to stay friends?
"I personally am, but we'll have to wait and see whether they can do! This situation isn't about two nasty people, it's about two people who have very, very warm hearts and are very loving. Hopefully Vincent will be sorry about the way things have panned out and hopefully there'll be a sense of forgiveness from Phoebe after that. Looking at it, it's nobody's fault as you can't control who you fall in love with."

How much danger would Vincent be in if he was deported?
"Very, very big danger! Where Vincent is from, he could be sent to prison for his sexuality, or people in his local village or town could even kill him. So Vincent isn't just running for his freedom, he's running for his life. It's very, very important that he finds a way to stay in the country."

What happens when evil Trevor is brought into the mix?
"Phoebe goes to Trevor to get a fake passport for Vincent, but he ends up holding her hostage. Vincent gets there to rescue her with support from George, but Trevor warns that Vincent is not going anywhere. He tells Vincent that he's his property.

"At this moment, Vincent is very scared but he also knows that if he doesn't stay with Trevor, then it's going to be Phoebe or George staying. He wouldn't be able to handle that, so he knows the best thing he can do is keep quiet and have Phoebe and George go away to hopefully get help. Vincent has a hero complex where he wants to help those closest to him."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/12/300x225/soaps-hollyoaks-steven-roberts-george-smith-2.jpg

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/17/300x225/soaps-hollyoaks-mandip-gill-phoebe-mcqueen-jacqui.jpg

What are Steven and Mandip (Phoebe) like to work with?
"Absolutely sensational! I feel like I've really established a big bond with those two. Because this is only my first big job on television, I'm learning a lot from the two of them, which is great. As Mandip worked so closely with Claire Cooper for such a long time, I feel like she's passing a lot down to me at the moment."

Being on Twitter, have you seen much reaction to your character yet?
"I have! I've been a bit nosy and had a little look to see what the reaction to Vincent is. With any character you get ups and downs, and I think at the moment it's 70% good! A lot of people seem keen to see more of Vincent and the sweetness of him is attractive to them. Others are just saying, 'Who is this guy?' and 'Why is he here?' It's all good and it's a healthy thing!"

After training as an actor, a lot of your work has been on the stage. How does the TV world compare?
"It's a very, very different kind of craft. When I got here, I was very lucky to have Claire with me on my second shoot for the lorry scenes. I also had Mandip with me for the first thing we shot, which was the bedroom scene between the two of us. I had help and advice from those two as well as the directors.

"There's quite a bit to learn, as in the theatre you have to really project your voice to a lot of people, but on television you often have to be more subtle. It's a very big learning curve for me but it's really exciting."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/14/618x420/soaps-hollyoaks-3582-3.jpg

Was Hollyoaks one of your first auditions?
"I'd done a few auditions before Hollyoaks, but they were mainly for theatre. I've always done well in auditions but to get so far in the Hollyoaks process was fantastic. I'm usually the person who gets quite far but just misses out at the end!"

We know that in real life, you're from South London. Has it been difficult to take on Vincent's accent?
"It can be more difficult doing an accent like this on the screen, because there's a much bigger audience watching. If it was just in the theatre, it'd be easier to do because I could lay the accent on as thick as possible.

"I feel that I sometimes don't go as far as I can with the accent, because I know that it needs to be watched by such a broad audience. It can be hard to find the right level. But I have grown up with the accent because both of my parents are from Nigeria, so that bit isn't too difficult at all."

What are your hobbies and interests outside of acting?
"I love football, both playing and watching it. That's my biggest hobby and then just normal things like watching TV and going out with friends. Just being a normal 23-year-old lad, really!"

Good interview:). John is a nice guy and I am glad that HO are beginning to develop Vincent's character and storyline more.

'Hollyoaks' Tony Hutchinson misleads Diane O'Connor over Cindy

Hollyoaks favourite Tony Hutchinson will lead Diane O'Connor to believe that he is back together with his ex-girlfriend Cindy Cunningham, in an upcoming storyline.

The latest twist is part of Tony's (Nick Pickard) attempt to stop Diane (Alex Fletcher) finding out about his testicular cancer which he recently discovered has spread aggressively.

Viewers will know that Cindy (Stephanie Waring) has been supporting Tony since finding out about the illness.

When Tony surprises her with a 'thank you' meal, Cindy can't bring herself to let him down, despite having arranged a date with Ziggy Roscoe.

However, when Diane learns about this, she jumps to the conclusion that they are back together.

After confronting Tony, he doesn't correct her as he would rather let her think he is back together with Cindy than find out the truth about his cancer.

'Hollyoaks' Wallis Day: 'Big storyline ahead for Holly'

Hollyoaks star Wallis Day has promised that there is a "meaty" storyline ahead for her character Holly Cunningham.

The actress took over the role of Holly late last year and has now landed a new deal with the Channel 4 soap.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/04/618x849/wallis_day.jpg

Day told the Daily Star Sunday: "I've signed a contract and had a meeting about everything Holly has coming up. She has got a very interesting time ahead.

"She'll be turning 16 at Christmas and her big storyline will start a few months before that. I've been sworn to secrecy but it's very meaty and will give me the chance to show a different side to Holly.

"Viewers will be shocked by what she goes through. It's going to be really tough to act out but I'm looking forward to rising to the challenge."

'Hollyoaks' baby horror

Hollyoaks fans can expect more shocking behaviour from schemer Sienna Blake next month as she continues with her mission to take Nancy's place in the Osborne family.

When Sienna (Anna Passey) spots that Nancy and Darren's marriage is well and truly back on track, she decides to throw another spanner in the works and asks Doctor Browning to get her some painkillers.

Once Sienna has the pills she wants, she uses them to secretly drug Nancy (Jessica Fox), who is completely oblivious to what's happening.

As the pills cause Nancy's behaviour to become increasingly erratic again, Darren is left concerned that she hasn't beaten her painkiller addiction after all.

A confused Nancy is quick to insist that she's completely clean, and when Darren decides to believe her, Sienna is frustrated that her efforts have come to nothing.

Taking her antics a step further, Sienna causes another worrying incident as she pushes baby Oscar's pram into the path of Joe Roscoe's oncoming car.

Nancy spots the runaway buggy and doesn't realise that Sienna has already taken Oscar out of the stroller. Thinking her young son is in danger, she ends up rolling over Joe's bonnet, while a satisfied Sienna watches on, cradling Oscar…

'Hollyoaks' Joe Thompson: 'Doctor Browning is losing the plot'

Hollyoaks star Joseph Thompson has revealed that his character Doctor Browning will start to lose the plot as his stalker mystery continues.

Somebody is currently playing tricks on Browning and haunting him with reminders of Lynsey Nolan's death.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/19/618x717/soaps-hollyoaks-joseph-thompson-doctor-browning.jpg

Browning's nightmare continues next week when he thinks he has seen Lynsey in his office.

Thompson said to Inside Soap: "He's losing the plot - him seeing the ghost of Lynsey is just flashes of his psychological torture.

"The mental strain is really showing. There's this whole 'I know what you did last summer' thing going on. And if someone's learned that he killed Lynsey, Browning could be dropped in it at any time.

"Whoever's tormenting him seems to have incredible resources and know his every move."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/25/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-doctor-browning-sees-lynsey-nolan.jpg

As the pressure of the torment starts to build up on him, Browning wrongly believes Myra McQueen is responsible and threatens her.

However, Thompson revealed that this incident will be the start of something exciting for Browning and the McQueen family.

He said: "This is the beginning of a massive chain of events for Browning and the McQueens. We are right in the middle of filming it now, and it was really exciting to read those scripts.

"I hope the viewers will enjoy watching it as much as I'm enjoying filming it."

'Hollyoaks' Greg Wood interview: 'Trevor has a human side'

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/22/618x662/soaps-hollyoaks-greg-wood-trevor-royle.jpg

Hollyoaks villain Trevor Royle is at the centre of a big storyline next week as he starts threatening the McQueen family.

With Trevor still stewing over his showdown with Jacqui, the dangerous bad boy seizes an opportunity to find out where she is. Hell-bent on settling the score, Trevor's ruthless behaviour soon leaves the McQueens, Vincent, George and Ste all in the firing line.

Digital Spy recently chatted to Greg Wood, who plays Trevor, to hear what's in store and to get an insight into what makes his character tick.

How's it all going at Hollyoaks?
"It's going very well and I'm really enjoying it. The writers have been coming up with lots of good stuff for Trevor, and he seems to have his fingers in lots of pies! I'm really pleased with how it's going, especially as some of the scenes we've been filming have been so exciting.

"I did Brookside ten years ago and there are a quite a few familiar faces behind the scenes who are still here at Lime Pictures now. It's really great to be back."

We first saw you on screen briefly for Jacqui's exit storyline. Did you always know there was a longer-term plan for Trevor?
"Initially I didn't know. As far as I knew, I was just on Hollyoaks for a short little stint. After that little starter period, I found out that Trevor would be coming back to cause more mischief. I was really pleased to find that out - it's brilliant."

How do you describe Trevor? We know that he's a villain, but could there be more to him?
"Trevor is definitely a villain, but I think he's damaged goods. He's got a lot of baggage and there are definitely reasons why he is the way he is. I think you'll soon see that he's also a bit of a quirky character. There's some stuff coming up where you'll hopefully find out more about Trevor and where he's coming from.

"Trevor is certainly a bad apple, but he justifies things for himself and he has his own reasons for doing things. He's very good at what he does, and he just sees it as business.

"I'd also say Trevor is a bit of a sociopath, really! Any normal person would think that his crimes are heinous, but in his own head, he sees it purely as making the business work - and his business is a bad business."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/25/618x412/soaps-hollyoaks-3639-1.jpg

A few of your roles have been bad boys. Do you prefer playing the villain?
"I always say that villains are loads of fun to play. When you're playing a bad character, you're not just dealing with normal everyday stuff like buying a loaf of bread! It's generally a bit more dramatic and everything is a bit more heightened. In that sense, it's very exciting and sometimes quite cathartic! I also think people enjoy watching a villain and hopefully within that, we can still get a human side across."

What can we expect from next week's storyline where Trevor is threatening the McQueens?
"Trevor still hasn't forgotten the Jacqui situation and Phoebe coming along on the van heist. In a bit of a panic and not really thinking it through, Phoebe now wants to get some immigration papers for Vincent to help him stay in the country. Phoebe calls someone about getting hold of these papers and gets given a number, not realising that it's Trevor.

"When Phoebe goes ahead with her plan, she gets kidnapped, taken back to Trevor's club and held hostage. There's lots of threats and intimidation coming Phoebe's way, so it's quite frightening for her."

What happens next?
"George and Vincent find out where Phoebe is and they turn up to find her, along with Ste. In a nutshell, it's a case of whether he's prepared to let them go. The McQueens also come up with a fake funeral to convince Trevor that Jacqui is dead, but you'll have to watch to find out whether he's fooled by that…"

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/25/618x427/soaps-hollyoaks-3639-2.jpg

With Trevor being so intimidating towards everyone, is he just making empty threats or would he always follow through with his violence?
"If Trevor doesn't get his way, he's definitely not afraid to carry out his threats and that's where the menace is. He will do these things, and he has done them in the past. I think that's what makes him so intimidating. He'd definitely carry out whatever he's said."

There's a big interest in your storyline with Ste. Is there more coming up for those two?
"Yeah, there's more coming up with Ste. I think you're going to see Ste get stuck very deep in the web that Trevor is creating. Like I said, Trevor has his fingers in a lot of pies and there's definitely more stuff coming up. He starts owning people in a way and getting them to do whatever he wants them to do."

Have you seen much reaction to Trevor online yet?
"There hasn't been a huge amount yet because Trevor has only been on screen quite briefly, but that may change when he becomes more regular on the show. I do get people saying that I play the villain very well, which I always take as a compliment! It's all good fun. I always say it's my eyebrows!"

Do you have fond memories of your time on Coronation Street as Rick Neelan, and working with the likes of Barbara Knox (Rita) and Michelle Keegan (Tina)?
"It was fantastic - there were some great actors to work with on the show. I really enjoyed being part of Rita's wedding storyline and to work with such an old pro was great.

"We did some big stuff at the docks where Rick kidnapped Rita, and it was such a cold day. Barbara was out there in the cold in a little wedding dress, absolutely freezing, but she stuck it out and she didn't moan. Michelle Keegan is also a lovely girl and a good actress. It was lots of fun."

Greg seems a nice guy and I am warming to Trevor tbh.

'Hollyoaks' casts Corrie villain as John Paul's new love interest

Hollyoaks bosses have cast former Coronation Street star Stephen Billington as John Paul McQueen's new love interest, Digital Spy can reveal.

The actor, best known for his role as Weatherfield villain Greg Kelly, has already started filming with the Channel 4 soap and will make his first appearance next week.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/04/618x642/soaps-hollyoaks-james-sutton-john-paul-mcqueen-2.jpg

Billington is playing Danny Lomax, a new drama teacher for Hollyoaks High.

Danny immediately catches John Paul's eye when he joins the school, and JP is later delighted when his colleague seems to feel the same way about him.

However, show insiders have warned that there are "a lot of skeletons" in Danny's closet which could turn the worlds of a number of Hollyoaks residents upside down.

Billington's Coronation Street character Greg was introduced in 1998 as the long-lost son of Les Battersby (Bruce Jones).

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/27/618x384/soaps-stephen-billington-bruce-jones.jpg

Greg's dramatic storylines, which included an abusive relationship with Sally Webster, earned Billington the 'Villain of the Year' title at the first ever British Soap Awards in 1999.

Since leaving Corrie, Billington has appeared in a number of other TV and film roles, as well as working as an acting teacher.

'Hollyoaks Later' casts Danny Dyer in new series

Hollyoaks chiefs have announced that Danny Dyer will star in Hollyoaks Later this year.

The film actor is taking on the role of a ruthless ex-pat known as 'The White Man' in the new series, which sees fan favourite Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) have an epic adventure in Spain and Morocco.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/27/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-danny-dyer.jpg

Dyer's storyline begins when Tony agrees to carry out a dodgy deal for the village's newest bad boy Trevor Royle (Greg Wood).

As Tony takes up the job, he has no idea that he is about to fall foul of The White Man.

When the deal goes horribly wrong, a nightmare ensues which sees Tony, his brother Dom (John Pickard) and his old friends Finn (James Redmond) and Kurt (Jeremy Edwards) all get caught up in a world of high-stakes poker, Russian roulette and kidnapping - with The White Man as an unrelenting adversary.

Show bosses have promised that Dyer will bring "plenty of menacing drama to his enigmatic character".

Hollyoaks Later producer Jane Steventon commented: "I'm thrilled that we have brought together such an amazing cast for this year's Later and with the addition of Danny Dyer, the adventures can really kick off."

The new series of Hollyoaks Later will be screened in the autumn on E4.

'Hollyoaks': Violent showdown for Nancy Osborne, Sienna Blake

Hollyoaks' troubled mum Nancy Osborne will punch Sienna Blake when she realises that the schemer is responsible for her recent problems.

Sienna, played by Anna Passey, has recently launched a ruthless scheme to take Nancy's place in the Osborne family and will seemingly stop at nothing to get what she wants.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/12/618x451/nancy-osborne.jpg

As reported at the weekend, Sienna's next stunt sees her start secretly drugging Nancy so that Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) thinks his wife has succumbed to her painkiller addiction again.

When Nancy later takes a drugs test to prove that she is clean, she is baffled when the results come back positive. However, all becomes clear when Doctor Browning (Joseph Thompson) tells Nancy that Sienna has been approaching him for pills on her behalf.

Jessica Fox, who plays Nancy, told All About Soap: "By this point, she's been thrown out of the pub and she can't understand why Darren's so upset when she's convinced that she's clean. Nancy goes to confront Doctor Browning, and he's adamant that she's been asking Sienna to come and collect the pills for her -and that's when Nancy realises exactly what Sienna's been up to."

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/27/618x871/soaps-hollyoaks-anna-passey-sienna-blake.jpg

Revealing how Nancy reacts, the actress added: "She punches her in the face! It was brilliant to film - I loved it. But I was really nervous - I came close to actually whacking Anna for real!"

At the end of her tether following all the recent trouble, Nancy tells Darren that he'll have to choose between her and Sienna.

Fox said: "I hope viewers are on Nancy's side and they all cheer when she hits Sienna! Wouldn't it be awful if someone infiltrated your family in real life and no-one would believe you when you tried to point it out? I can't say who Darren picks - you'll have to wait and see."

'Hollyoaks' Stephanie Davis: 'Sinead is blackmailed over Ste'

Sinead O'Connor's loyalty to her new friend Ste Hay will be seriously tested on Hollyoaks when a sleazy policeman starts causing trouble for her.

The out-of-control teenager first encounters DS Trent when he becomes the latest target in her 'clipping' storyline, with Sinead initially unaware that he is a member of the police force.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/26/618x885/soaps-hollyoaks-stephanie-davis-sinead-o-connor.jpg

When Trent catches Sinead attempting to steal from his wallet while they're in a hotel room together, he finally reveals his true identity. However, rather than arresting Sinead, he propositions her with £200.

Stephanie Davis, who plays Sinead, told All About Soap: "It's a really big decision. Sinead knows that if she does it, there's no going back. Part of her is quite tempted, but deep down the idea of being a prostitute frightens her.

"I can't reveal whether Sinead goes through with it or not, but I think the viewers will be shocked."

Later, Sinead thinks she has seen the last of DS Trent, but they soon cross paths again after her stepmum Diane (Alex Fletcher) reports Ste for dealing drugs.

Diane makes the call as she thinks the poor conditions at Ste's flat are to blame for Sinead's baby daughter Katy falling ill.

Revealing what happens when the police turn up, Davis commented: "One of the policemen is DS Trent. Sinead's confused, and then he addresses her by her real name - not Rihanna, the false one she gave him earlier - and arrests her.

"She tells Trent to quit the act or she'll reveal what went on between them. But he blackmails her - grass up Ste, or she's going down for robbery!"

'Hollyoaks' character to be stabbed in raid attempt

Hollyoaks regulars Ste Hay and Freddie Roscoe are heading for disaster as they team up again in a new storyline.

The bad boys, played by Kieron Richardson and Charlie Clapham, will be at the centre of a shock stabbing plot as they attempt to hold up a hospital delivery van of drugs.

Doctor Browning (Joseph Thompson) is responsible for coming up with the drastic idea, needing to raise £100,000 to pay for a hit on his mother-in-law Myra McQueen.

An unimpressed Ste initially refuses when Browning approaches him to do his dirty work. However, when the village's newest villain Trevor Royle (Greg Wood) finds out what Browning is planning, he wants to be involved and puts Ste under strict instruction to carry out the raid.

Knowing it's a two-man job, Ste approaches Freddie for help and they get off to a promising start as they put on balaclavas and successfully hold up the van on a deserted road.

Unfortunately, events take a terrifying turn for the worse when Trevor turns up with his men.

Unsure of what's going on, Freddie goes on the defensive and starts a fight with Trevor's henchmen. In the ensuing chaos, either Freddie or Ste will be stabbed.

I think it will be Freddie who gets stabbed because they have made a big deal about him and Lindsey being close so far, even though she is his big brothers fiancée and it is obvious that Freddie fancies her.

I think they will end up having an affair!

However, magazine reports have revealed that the truth finally comes out when Diane spots Tony coming out of the oncology ward with ex-wife Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring).

When Diane jumps to the wrong conclusion that Cindy is the one suffering from cancer, Tony is forced into revealing what is really going on.

Diane is devastated and confused when she hears that Tony has been hiding his illness for so long, but she quickly gets her head together and is keen to stand by him.

As Diane then starts to smother Tony in her efforts to take care of him, he gets frustrated and viewers will be left to wonder whether the potential couple can ever be honest with each other about what they really want.

'Hollyoaks' John Omole on Vincent's sexuality, immigration storylines

Hollyoaks' John Omole has spoken about his tough introductory storyline on the Channel 4 soap.

Interviewed by fellow actor Kieron Richardson for the official Hollyoaks YouTube channel, Omole discussed how his character Vincent Elegba struggles to face up to his problems.

Vincent arrived in the Chester village as an illegal immigrant from Nigeria, who fled his home country because of his sexuality.

Omole said: "It's a massive problem for Vincent, because the laws of the country say he could be put to prison for 14 years.

"It's also that his family don't really accept the way of life of a homosexual person, so they've told him that he should probably get going to save them, to save him. He thinks of it as an illness, as a sickness."

Speaking about Vincent and George Smith's on-screen kiss, Omole added: "He's just about getting to the fact that he is gay and now he's finding that he actually has feelings for other men so it's really difficult for him.

"He really, really, really likes George. He's not quite sure how to take it in fact because this is the first person he's really felt like that about."

On Vincent's future, Omole said that he must now "face his fears".

"He's been running for a very long time," he added. "So he has to face the whole immigration problem and he has to face his feelings for George and also face this problem that he has with wanting Phoebe to be his best friend and not his partner."

'Hollyoaks': Jazmine Franks admits Esther love scene nerves

Hollyoaks actress Jazmine Franks has admitted that her character Esther Bloom's new storyline with girlfriend Tilly Evans was "nerve-wracking" to film.

With Esther and Tilly's relationship finally on track, next week's episodes see the couple prepare to take things to the next level by sleeping together for the first time.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/19/618x554/soaps-hollyoaks-jazmine-franks-esther-bloom.jpg

"It's also a room full of people, it's not just me and her. You've got the crew around you and it's like, 'Argh, this is really awkward'. But you just have to go for it. If you feel awkward, you have to do take after take after take, so it's best to just go for it and get it done in one or two takes."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/26/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-3642-1.jpg

Esther and Tilly (Lucy Dixon) previously had a brief holiday romance in 2011, when they met in Abersoch, Wales.

Franks added: "We're so comfortable around each other, so now it's like we're used to doing it. We're used to doing kissing scenes and stuff.

"But the first time I met Lucy was on our way down to Abersoch about two years ago, and I literally met her on the coach down there and within a couple of hours we were kissing on the beach. It was the first scene we did together.

"It was kind of good because it threw us in at the deep end."

'Hollyoaks' Anna Passey on Sienna: 'I don't think she could kill'

Hollyoaks' Anna Passey has revealed that she doesn't believe her character could become a murderer.

The actress, who plays Sienna Blake in the Channel 4 soap, said that she doesn't think her character is a wholly evil person, but added that anything is possible in the show.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/27/618x871/soaps-hollyoaks-anna-passey-sienna-blake.jpg

Speaking to Inside Soap, Passey said: "You can't move five steps in Hollyoaks village without running into a murderer, can you? I honestly couldn't tell you if Sienna will become a killer.

"My instinct is that she isn't, because she always believes what she's doing is the right thing.

"With her upbringing, she isn't an out-and-out evil person. She really believes she's got her reasons to do what she does. But you never know - this is Hollyoaks!"

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/21/618x629/soaps-hollyoaks-anna-passey-sienna-blake.jpg

Passey's recent storyline has seen Sienna attempt to steal Nancy's husband Darren, while developing an unhealthy interest in their baby, Oscar.

On acting alongside babies in the show, Passey said: "We don't really have babies in my family and so I was a bit nervous the first time, but they're adorable. It's a highlight to work with them, definitely."
