The McQueens are to have a dramatic Christmas on Hollyoaks, with two big storylines due to rock the family.

A source at the Channel 4 series told Inside Soap that the feisty group will discover a mystery baby on the doorstep as they are in the middle of the festivities, while Jacqui (Claire Cooper) could come closer to learning the truth about her late husband Rhys.

As the family celebrate, they find an unknown child at the door of their home. They grill Bart about it but remain in the dark about who the baby is and what his connection is to them.

The insider said: "Myra's drunk when they find the child and she thinks it's a Christmas gift from God. So in her tipsy state, she decides to call the little fella Jesus. As you can imagine, it's quite an amusing scenario."

Meanwhile Jacqui, who is still grieving for the loss of Rhys in last month's bus crash, makes great efforts to put on a fantastic Christmas celebration and decides to invite Tony (Nick Pickard) and Cindy (Stephanie Waring) to lunch.

Jacqui is still unaware that Cindy and Rhys were having an affair prior to his death, but Tony knows about his wife's infidelity. With emotions running high, Jacqui's world could be shattered over Christmas dinner.

"A showdown between these two is long overdue," the source said.

"They're both feisty ladies, so whatever happens between them won't be pretty. Let's just say it won't only be the crackers going bang in that house on December 25."

That is true. I love her character overall and she has the makings to be a classic Hollyoaks character as long as the writers keep giving Bronagh good storylines for Cheryl, although I sadly see her wanting to move on at some point to do other acting roles, but she loves being in the show currently and is best friends with Kieron Richardson who plays Ste;).

I think BK will rebuild them eventually, he talked about the show focusing on students but wanted to focus on both the younger and older characters as equals.

BK had a strong student group in his first reign of charge and I think he will want to try and match that success.

Hollyoaks returnee James Sutton has revealed details of his character John Paul McQueen's split from lover Craig Dean.

As recently confirmed by show boss Bryan Kirkwood, John Paul will be a single man when he heads back to the village later this month.

Hollyoaks star Claire Cooper has promised that the long-awaited showdown between her character Jacqui McQueen and love cheat Cindy Cunningham will be "worth waiting for".

Cindy (Stephanie Waring) had an affair with Jacqui's husband Rhys Ashworth before his tragic death last month, but viewers will have to wait until Christmas to see her face the music.

Jacqui is already aware that Rhys was cheating on her before his passing, and next week's episodes see her once again suspect that Cindy was the woman in question as they team up to arrange the funeral.

Cooper told All About Soap: "When she's at the florist picking flowers for the funeral, Cindy goes into this weird speech about the significance of a single red rose and why it's so important.

"And then at the grave, Jacqui's pouring her heart out to Rhys when she comes across a single red rose. It suddenly dawns on her who Rhys's other woman was."

However, Cindy soon finds herself off the hook for now when a surprising development - which is currently being kept under wraps - makes Jacqui question her suspicions again.

Cooper continued: "There's a lot of screaming and shouting, but just as Cindy's about to respond, something distracts Jacqui and changes things completely. Cindy won't get away with it, but the resolution won't happen until Christmas. I promise it's going to be worth waiting for."

Dirk Savage loses his temper on Hollyoaks next week as he is forced to sit through a meal with Dodger's 'other' father.

The Savage clan have recently been rocked by Dodger (Danny Mac) tracking down his biological dad Patrick Blake and twin sister Sienna, so kind-hearted Liberty tries to bring all parties closer together next week.

When Liberty surprises everyone by inviting Patrick and Sienna over to the houseboat for dinner, Dirk (David Kennedy) realises that he needs to be on his best behaviour for Dodger's sake.

However, an insecure Dirk soon starts to feel inadequate compared to Patrick, and his patience is tested throughout the meal. In the end, he finally snaps by telling the Blakes that they're no longer welcome.

Will an angry Dodger be able to forgive Dirk for ruining things?
