Over on DS they've found an article in the independent confirming that Emmett Scanlan finishes filming in January (onscreen March exit) before he goes to LA for "some meetings".

As for Mercedes trial, apart from Nana McQueen's sudden outburst which did make me laugh, I thought it was an insult to the intelligence.

Not just because it wasn't true to life (it's a soap, they hardly ever are) but they had to make characters act out of character and change direction in the process.
There's no way Myra and Jacqui after everything would allow Mercedes to get away with it, even with her supposed mental state.

'Hollyoaks' Claire Cooper talks Jacqui grief, Rhys funeral

Hollyoaks favourite Jacqui McQueen has more difficult times ahead next week as she must pay her last respects to the man who betrayed her.

As her late husband Rhys Ashworth's funeral day arrives, Jacqui has mixed emotions because she is still coming to terms with the revelation that he was cheating on her before his death.

Feeling torn between keeping up appearances and being honest, Jacqui struggles to cope and turns to an ex for comfort…

Digital Spy recently caught up with Claire Cooper, who plays Jacqui, to hear her thoughts on the aftermath of Rhys's demise.

Jacqui's had a lot of big scenes recently in the aftermath of Rhys's death. Have you enjoyed it, or do the grief scenes take their toll?
"I've really enjoyed the storyline, but it does take a toll. When we were filming the aftermath of the mini-bus crash, myself and Andy Moss had a 10-page scene to do together for Rhys's final moments, although not all of it made the cut because it was a bit too long. We decided not to rehearse that scene as we wanted it to be raw and in the moment, but it definitely does affect you.

"Since then, I've been playing a lot of drunken scenes for Jacqui as well. Because of the way we film, it's actually five or six weeks where you're having to shoot those scenes. It does exhaust you and you sometimes come home feeling quite down and not your usual self!"

Were you sad to say goodbye to Andy Moss after two years as on-screen partners?
"I was really sad to see Andy go, as he was a great actor to work with and so generous. He always supported me as an actress, but also as a friend. Andy was especially supportive throughout the rape storyline last year, and I'll be indebted to him probably for the rest of my life.

"What I really liked about working with Andy was that we'd discover new things about each other's characters all the time, and I think that's when acting is really interesting. When we did that last scene for Rhys and Jacqui, they were genuine tears for both of us. It took five hours to film, so it was exhausting!"

Will you be staying in touch with Andy after working so closely together?
"Absolutely, we were actually texting each other last night! What a lot of people don't know about Andy is that he's so funny - he's got a wicked sense of humour and he was the funniest man in Hollyoaks. He's missed unbelievably, particularly by myself.

"It's really hard saying goodbye to a scene partner, but he's going to go on to greater and better things, so in that sense I'm delighted for him and it's bittersweet."

Do you think Jacqui was partly to blame for her marriage breaking down, or was it all Rhys's fault in your eyes?
"It's a funny one, this! In terms of character, I think yes she was partly to blame. With any relationship, we all play our role in whether it works out or doesn't. But Jacqui had a massive responsibility with the McQueen family and I think you don't throw in the towel after the first couple of hurdles, but unfortunately Rhys gave up too soon.

"As an actress, I thought the marriage problems and the affair were really just a device in order to do the stunt. We had to break down the marriage in order to re-discover that they really did love each other. It's just that their love got distorted and twisted along the way!

"That's what happens with a lot of relationships. People can often pull back from that and sort things out, but unfortunately in this case, Rhys lost his life before he got a chance to."

What kind of a reaction did you see for the stunt episodes?
"I've honestly been overwhelmed and I can't thank the fans enough. I really didn't know what to expect, because I hadn't seen the work that everybody else had done in their scenes, so I was really excited to see those. I honestly didn't anticipate the reaction that myself, Andy and Hollyoaks got.

"It was probably the best response that I've ever had. I've even had grown men tweeting me to say, 'I've been sobbing in front of my missus because of you!' and people have even stopped me in the corridors at work. I've never had that, even after the rape storyline last year. I'm in total gratitude to everyone who has supported the show as it means a lot to us all, especially myself."

What can we expect from Rhys's funeral episode next week?
"Obviously at this point, Jacqui has got the knowledge that Rhys cheated on her, but she doesn't know who with. It's very difficult for her, because she now thinks that she's grieving for someone who wasn't the man she thought he was.

"Jacqui knows in her heart that Rhys loved her, but she's still really angry and she feels like she's having to put a façade on in front of everybody else. She just wants to scream and explode with absolute rage and anger.

"The funeral is going to open a can of worms, but Jacqui asks for Tony's support. Tony understands Jacqui and how she's programmed. She needs him to do a speech for Rhys, because she doesn't feel able to do it herself, but obviously that puts Tony in a difficult position after what Rhys did.

"Unfortunately Jacqui gets drunk at the wake and finds the microphone, so we do get a moment of Jacqui starting to express her real feelings, until she's escorted out of the venue! She's in true Jacqui form there. I wish it had gone on a bit longer so I could be even more naughty, but there's only so much we can do on a 6.30pm show!"

Before the funeral, Cindy helps out with the arrangements. Doesn't that give Jacqui any inkling that Cindy could have been Rhys's lover?
"At this point, Jacqui has no idea. She's already pointed the finger at Cindy once on the street, so she's just accepting what she was told at that point. I think you do accept things until the truth prevails, and Jacqui knows the truth will come out in the end.

"I think it's a bit twisted that Cindy is helping Jacqui. The karma that is coming towards Cindy is unbelievable. That character definitely needs to pay her dues at some point. The karma is going to be catastrophic when it eventually happens!"

Jacqui shares a kiss with Tony after he supports her at the wake. Is this going to develop further?
"At the moment, it's just a one-off as Jacqui is really drunk and Tony is reassuring her. I think Jacqui can see a flicker of what they were a long time ago, but she knows that it's wrong as soon as she does it.

"Jacqui isn't one of those women who goes after unavailable men. Through and through, she respects women, so doing this in her own head is outrageous and she's annoyed with herself. She makes it clear to Tony that it won't go anywhere. But who knows what could happen further down the line? You'll have to watch this space with Jacqui and Tony."

Do you think the fans will be rooting for a Jacqui and Tony reunion?
"I think so! I do get tweets and messages from people saying they love that pairing. I think Jacqui brings out a different side to Tony. Nick Pickard is great to work with, too - he's so professional and he makes everybody laugh all the time. I think the fans are excited for that possibility, but whether it happens, we'll have to wait and see."

Have you had many scenes with John Paul yet, as he and Jacqui were always quite close?
"At the moment, we've done a couple but I know James [Sutton] has mentioned that he'd like there to be a few more scenes between Jacqui and John Paul. Last time around, they were very, very close as Jacqui understood John Paul and they had a different type of relationship.

"I think it'd be fantastic to revisit that again, so I'm hoping they address that and bring it into the scripts. I think those two characters have an understanding which is different to the other siblings. Plus, Jacqui is the eldest so he would ultimately go to her with any problems."

How do you feel about Bryan Kirkwood being back as executive producer? He did create your character after all!
"It's amazing having him in the building, and I think it's had a really positive impact. He did create Jacqui and I'm so lucky that he chose me to play the part, as he certainly took a risk. If he says to me that he wants me to play Jacqui in a certain way, I'll do it straight away. Because he created her, it's like he's God - he knows more about my character than I do!

"I know that Bryan has got the most amazing ideas for next year and I think the fans are going to be really, really excited with everything that's going to happen. The McQueens are going to be part of that. We've got John Paul back, and we've got Nana McQueen in the building too. I really think that Bryan knows what the audience wants."

'Hollyoaks' returning to Australian screens

Hollyoaks will return to screens in Australia and New Zealand in 2013, it has been announced.

The Channel 4 soap will next year join the UKTV network in both countries in deals struck by All3Media International, TBI Vision reports.

UKTV already broadcasts fellow British soaps Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale to Australian audiences.

Tim Christlieb, head of programming and production for UKTV's owner BBC Worldwide Channels, commented: "We are delighted to be able to respond to huge audience demand by bringing back premiere episodes of Hollyoaks to audiences in Australia and New Zealand on UKTV.

"Great British soaps are a really important part of UKTV and we are thrilled to be bringing our viewers even more of what we know they love."

All3Media International's Peter Grant added: "We're very pleased to see Hollyoaks premiering in Australia and New Zealand. UKTV is renowned as the home of the best UK soaps and we're looking forward to our hit drama joining its schedules.

"Hollyoaks continues to capture the attention of the highly sought after youth audience, with storylines that are entertaining and humorous yet also tackle the key issues teenagers around the world are confronting - making it a must-see drama wherever it airs."

Hollyoaks previously aired in Australia on Network Seven's digital channel 7Two.

'Hollyoaks': Jacqui to attack Cindy on Christmas Day

Hollyoaks love cheat Cindy Longford will be the victim of a Christmas Day attack as Jacqui McQueen exacts her revenge.

Cindy, played by Stephanie Waring, finds herself in the firing line after her affair with Jacqui's late husband Rhys is finally exposed over the festive season.

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/49/300x225/cindy2.jpg

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/08/300x225/soaps_hollyoaks_jacqui_mcqueen.jpg

Viewers will see the drama unfold after Jacqui invites Cindy and Tony over to the McQueen house for Christmas lunch.

Although the atmosphere stays cheerful for a while, Jacqui later makes a devastating discovery when she looks through Rhys's phone and finds a video of him in bed with Cindy.

Discussing her character's subsequent rage, Claire Cooper - who plays Jacqui - told TV Times: "She let Cindy into her life - she even helped Jacqui with the funeral. She wants justice and she doesn't care if Cindy is dead."

Tony and Myra are soon left stunned when they find Cindy unconscious in the McQueens' front garden.

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/20/300x225/tony-1.jpg

http://i1.cdnds.net/11/46/soaps_andrew_moss.jpg

Cooper added: "Jacqui has attacked her. She clobbers her over the head with a big Santa Claus statue."

As Cindy is taken to hospital, Jacqui considers handing herself into the police, until Tony stops her and reveals how much she means to him with a kiss. However, whether the pair will actually get back together remains to be seen.

Jacqui and Cindy's showdown is one of several big Christmas storylines for Hollyoaks as the McQueens will also be rocked by the arrival of a mystery baby on their doorstep.

Meanwhile, tough times lie ahead for Brendan Brady (Emmett Scanlan) when his sister Cheryl tricks him into enduring lunch with his abusive father Seamus (pictured below right).

The Bradys are joined by Ste and Leah at the dinner, but an unsettled Brendan struggles to keep a lid on his emotions and ends up shouting at Leah.

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/48/300x225/seamus-7.jpg

The Osborne family will also feature heavily at Christmas as Nancy and Darren deal with the possibility that their baby son Oscar may be deaf.

Towards New Year, the family's troubles escalate as Nancy's nephew Charlie runs away and finds himself in danger.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.

'Hollyoaks' Nikki Sanderson would "never say never" to Corrie return

Nikki Sanderson has revealed that she would consider a return to Coronation Street if asked.

The soap star, who played Candice Stowe for six years from 1999 until 2005, was recently cast as Maxine Minniver in Hollyoaks.

Of her career choices, Sanderson reflected to new! Magazine: "I try not to regret anything. Every choice I've made has brought me to this point.

"I had the most amazing time at Corrie, but I'd been there a long time, was still a child actor and I wanted to learn my craft and try new things.

"Never say never [though]. But I'm happy at Hollyoaks and as long as they like me, I'm hoping they'll keep me on!"

Hollyoaks James Sutton nervous over return: "You'd hate to mess it up"

James Sutton has admitted that he feels partially apprehensive about his Hollyoaks comeback.

The actor, who reprises his famous role as John Paul from next Tuesday, however insisted that he remains "dead-excited" filming his second stint.

"On the one hand I know the set-up and I know how it works and I know my character, so that's really nice," Sutton told MSN.

"I feel a little bit of pressure because I had such a nice run last time. You'd hate to mess it up and put in a weak performance and spoil what you did before. I'm really proud of what I did before.

"So I think I put myself under a bit of pressure but at the same time I'm dead-excited and I've had chats with the storyline people and our producer Bryan Kirkwood and there's a lot of really exciting stuff coming up for us."

Sutton spent two years on Emmerdale between 2009 and 2011, after leaving Hollyoaks in 2007.

Of his return to the set of the Channel 4 teen soap, the star reflected: "It was very weird! My first few days were over in Dublin filming but my first few days on set here were bizarre.

"There's a lot of the same crew still here and I was sat with the girls that play my family and my sisters and it's like the last four years haven't happened. Everyone's been really sweet."

John Paul, who arrives in Chester a single man, has been tipped to become romantically involved with villain Brendan Brady (Emmett Scanlan).

'Hollyoaks' Jessica Fox: 'Nancy panics when Charlie disappears'

Hollyoaks star Jessica Fox has revealed more details of Charlie's upcoming disappearance.

As reported yesterday, Fox's character Nancy Osborne will be left horrified at New Year as her young nephew runs away from home following an argument.

Viewers will see Charlie flee after a stressed-out Nancy loses her temper with him, feeling anxious and distracted after discovering that her baby son Oscar may be deaf.

Charlie heads out into the woods, but finds himself in danger when he trips and falls unconscious.

Fox told Inside Soap: "Nancy finds a heartbreaking note from Charlie which reads, 'I know that you don't want me any more'. Her first reaction is one of absolute panic, and the Osbornes all head off into the dead of night to try to track him down."

While Charlie's fate is being kept under wraps, fans can expect fireworks between Nancy and Frankie (Helen Pearson) as the situation unfolds.

Fox said: "The two of them already have a fragile relationship. Frankie turns on Nancy and blames her for Charlie going missing - and if you push Nancy far enough, she'll bite back!"

'Hollyoaks': Leanne to face love choice over Dennis

Hollyoaks' Leanne Holiday will have a big decision to make when Dennis Savage declares his love for her once again.

Leanne turns to Dennis (Joe Tracini) for support later this month as she is feeling lonely, but the pair's heart-to-heart has an unexpected outcome as they wake up in bed together the next morning.

The storyline kicks off on New Year's Eve as Leanne gets drunk and confides in Dennis while feeling sorry for herself.

Jessica Forrest, who plays Leanne, told Inside Soap: "Leanne has one too many drinks and wakes up next to Dennis. She thinks, 'Oh my God! What have I done?' It's a real 'has she or hasn't she?' moment for the audience."

She continued: "Leanne pours her heart out to him [on New Year's Eve]. And it's hilarious when she wakes up with him the next day and can't remember whether she's slept with him."

While Leanne is horrified by the development, Dennis gives her food for thought by reminding her of how much she means to him.

Forrest explained: "Dennis tells Leanne he loves her. She likes the attention, but it's not fair to mess with his emotions. Then Dennis asks her if she wants to be with him or not, so she has a big decision to make."

'Hollyoaks' James Sutton talks John Paul's return

Hollyoaks welcomes back one of its best-loved characters next week as John Paul McQueen returns to screens after a four-year absence.

As has been widely reported, John Paul has a chance meeting with Brendan Brady (Emmett Scanlan) in Dublin, before heading back to the village to join his family in time for Christmas.

Digital Spy recently caught up with James Sutton, who plays John Paul, to hear all the gossip on his Hollyoaks comeback.

How does it feel to be back on Hollyoaks after four years away?
"It's been good and really nice. I'm starting to settle in now and the cast are lovely. There's a lot of new people - I'm struggling to learn everybody's names! But a lot of my old pals are here too, including the rest of the McQueen family, so it's been great so far."

How did the return come about?
"I always thought that at some point I would probably come back, because I had such a good experience the first time around and there's also the fact that I live in Liverpool, where the show is filmed. It was just a matter of timing, really.

"I'd often said 'never say never' and that I would come back if the storyline was right, but I wouldn't have come back just for the sake of it. What happened was that Bryan Kirkwood returned to Hollyoaks as executive producer, and we'd always stayed in touch anyway. We went out for dinner and he told me that he'd had an idea for a storyline for John Paul. It sounded appealing, so I said yes!"

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/48/618x434/soaps-hollyoaks-bts-xmas-19.jpg

Was Bryan's return the main factor which influenced your decision?
"Well, I think Bryan is someone who really gets it - he understands soap so well, he really cares and he invests a great deal into the storylines personally. He oversees everything and he's very hands-on, which is fantastic.

"Obviously he's been away and had experience over at EastEnders, and he's come back really hungry to make Hollyoaks as successful as it can be. I think that energy and passion really rubs off on people. It's very hard to hear someone speak so eloquently and passionately about the show and not buy into it!"

What kind of a reaction have you seen from fans since your return was announced?
"It's been really positive. I've seen a lot of tweets from people who seem excited to see John Paul again, which is really nice. I used to get a message every day saying, 'Are you coming back?' and now I can finally say that I am!"

Because John Paul is so fondly remembered, is there a pressure that comes with revisiting the role?
"Yeah, I think so. There is a certain amount of pressure but it's pressure that I put on myself more than anything. I want to do the best job I can, and I don't want to let anyone down. It's not that I think I will let people down, but I did have such a good run last time and I don't want to mess it up.

"What I can say is that I feel really good and really positive about what we're doing. John Paul's character has moved into a different direction now. He's a different person and that's a lot of fun to play with. The dynamic within the family has changed too, and there's also a lot of new characters in the village for John Paul to interact with. It feels different than it did last time, but in a really good way."

As John Paul's relationship with Craig Dean was so popular, some viewers are naturally disappointed that they've split up. How do you feel about that?
"I think it's great that people are so invested in it. It makes me feel really proud that what we created has had a lasting appeal for people - I think that can only be a positive thing.

"I think the fans are really going to enjoy where things are going with storylines for my character and the people that he gets involved with. There's a lot of really exciting material coming up."

We first see John Paul in Dublin, don't we?
"Yeah, I went over to Dublin to do some filming there, which was fantastic. My first scenes are with Emmett Scanlan, who plays Brendan, and that was really nice. I've known Emmett for a while and we've always got on pretty well. He's a top guy and we've done some really nice stuff, which I'm really excited for people to see because I'm quite proud of it.

"There was an amazing crew for those scenes, including Steve Brett, who is one of my favourite directors. It was a really nice way to come back into it."

Hollyoaks does have some new fans, so there'll be some people who've never seen John Paul! Can you remind us of his place in the family?
"Yeah, it is funny that a lot of people will never have seen me or heard of the character! That's actually really nice, because for some viewers he'll just be a new guy in the village who has some history there.

"John Paul is the voice of reason in this family of women with crazy, big personalities. He's always been very close to Jacqui, as she's the eldest in the family and helped to bring him up. John Paul shares a father with Carmel and Michaela, so he's close to them as well.

"He's kind of the one who sits there and lets this chaos erupt around him and shakes his head a lot! He's the quietest one in the family, but he's also the most sensible."

Have you been filming mainly with the McQueens so far, or will John Paul make some new friends?
"I can't really say too much, but I have made some new friends and I've had scenes with some of the established characters, which has been really nice. I've also got some stuff coming up with some people who I haven't worked with before, which is always really exciting.

"I've also done a lot with the family, because when John Paul comes back, the McQueens are in turmoil. There's all sorts of things going on with Mercedes, with Myra and it's all chaos."

Will John Paul stay single for a while, or is it inevitable that they'll pair him up with someone?
"I don't know yet! I'm really open to whatever they want to do, but I am conscious that the last time I was here, a lot of my storylines were relationship-based. There's a lot more going on now with John Paul. Like I say, he's a different person now - he knows who he is and what he wants.

"I think when we see John Paul, he's had a pretty horrific time with Craig over in Dublin and I don't think he wants to be with anyone just now. He feels a bit lost, so he needs to come back into the bosom of the family."

Liverpool radio host Pete Price - a friend of yours - recently said that a future storyline for John Paul has never been used on a soap before. Is that an accurate description?
"There might be some truth in that, but I can't really confirm or deny that statement! Pete is a great friend of mine and I think he was stirring the pot somewhat, but I do have some really exciting stuff coming up that I can't wait to shoot and can't wait for people to see."

When we last spoke, you were just about to launch your pop-up acting company Broken Leg Workshops. How's it all going?
"It's been fantastic. We've recently run a workshop in Leeds, which was a huge success. It's a really nice thing to be involved in, because there are so many people out there who want to act and see what it's like in front of a camera.

"It's rare that you get that opportunity, because most drama groups focus on theatre. We've got some big plans for next year and it's really nice for me to do something different."

I know it was. I am just saying with them choosing to make Brendan go back to his villainous ways before he goes it is a good excuse to bump some more characters off and trim the cast down, as BK probably knew it was too big whilst he was working with Emma Smithwick before she left;).

John Paul is going to suck without Craig, the year when it was just him he was awful and became annoying. Putting him with either Brendan or Ste is just going to ruin the character from the start.

I agree with most of the winners apart from Worst New Character? Joel worse than Ally, seriously although it is the majority opinion so lets agree to disagree.

Joel IMO is quite likeable away from Theresa and he works well with Brendan.

I shall stick to my opinion that Ally was a pointless character and the writers had no idea what to do with him, plus they kept changing his secret and no-one cared about it in the end;).

Hollyoaks star Ashley Taylor Dawson has said that he is hopeful his character Darren Osborne will stay with wife Nancy and have an "exciting" future.

The actor, who has appeared in the soap since 1999, told Bang Showbiz that Darren and Nancy - played by Jessica Fox - have been through "so much" and deserve positive things ahead of them.

http://i1.cdnds.net/10/05/soaps_hollyoaks_darren_0.jpg

He said that he would "definitely" be sad if Darren and Nancy were to split, explaining: "They've been through a lot and they've got a baby now so it's the start of a family and an exciting time for any couple."

Earlier this year, their son Oscar was born prematurely, prior to which Nancy suffered a miscarriage. Despite initially blaming Nancy for Oscar's early birth, Dawson said the pair are now closer.

"We've already had a miscarriage and Darren has felt very strongly that Nancy needs to take it easy because she's running around everywhere and stressing herself out," he said.

"So when we had the premature baby he couldn't get it out of his mind that it was because of Nancy that this has happened and he blamed her. Because of that he lost respect for her and he didn't know how to deal with it."

The on-screen couple said that it would be perfect if Darren and Nancy could take Oscar home for Christmas.

Fox added: "Hopefully he will be home and healthy but we'll have to wait and see."

Christmas...

Over on Hollyoaks, the McQueen family have an unforgettable Christmas ahead with a few surprises in store.

The shocks begin on Christmas Eve when Doctor Browning turns up at Mercedes's door unexpectedly and the twisted pair launch straight into a passionate kiss.

On Christmas Day, Mercedes and Browning have some fun by riding extravagantly through the village in a chauffeur-driven vintage car, before descending on the McQueen house and receiving a frosty welcome!

Jacqui (Claire Cooper), meanwhile, is hoping to finally move on from her late husband Rhys over the festive period. Taking control of the Christmas dinner plans, she convinces John Paul to come over from Dublin and also invites Tony and Cindy to the meal.

However, one guest that nobody was expecting is soon found in the McQueens' front garden - an abandoned baby with a note saying: "Dear Daddy - Merry Christmas".

Everyone looks to Bart for an explanation, but are they demanding answers from the wrong person?

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/50/618x407/soaps-hollyoaks-3502-4.jpg

Later, the twists and turns continue when a nostalgic Jacqui starts to look through Rhys's phone and is devastated to discover a video of him and Cindy (Stephanie Waring) in bed together.

Determined to get revenge, Jacqui springs into action and it's not long before Tony and Myra find her standing next to an unconscious Cindy, having attacked her with a Santa Claus statue. Cindy is rushed to hospital, but will she be okay?

Can anybody please tell me what happened on Thursday & Friday's C4 eps because I missed them and cba to catch up

Um Jacqui went into the gym thing and started to accuse Cindy of being the slapper who shagged Rhys, however lucky for Cindy, Sinead was near her and she thought Jacqui was yelling at her so blurted out she shagged Rhys and her baby is probably his. Bart proposed to her, not sure what happened then.

Joel came out of prison and shagged Theresa

Dirk and the Savages made a nice dinner for Dodgers real father and sister, his sister turned into a bitch and told Texas she knew she shagged Will, and Liberty became some agony aunt and tried to sort all the problems out.

So basically people shagging one another and getting caught

'Hollyoaks' James Sutton reveals "dark direction" ahead for John Paul

Hollyoaks actor James Sutton has revealed that John Paul McQueen's return to the soap sees him going in a "dark direction".

Sutton predicted that viewers will be both excited and shocked by the McQueen brother's comeback.

The actor, who played Ryan Lamb in Emmerdale for two years, said that boss Bryan Kirkwood was behind his decision to return to the Channel 4 soap.

He told the Daily Star: "I met up with Bryan and he asked me how I felt about coming back.

"He then told me what he was proposing to do and there was no way I could turn it down."

Sutton continued: "The great thing about Bryan is that he loves soaps and always manages to think outside the box.

"When he told me what he had planned for John Paul, I was so excited. And it's certainly going to get a reaction.

"We want people to talk about our show and this is going to be something everyone will be talking about.

"It's quite a dark direction for John Paul, which for me as an actor is great."

The 29-year-old added: "There's some juicy stuff coming up and people will be excited as well as shocked.

"But that's all I'm allowed to say… except that John Paul has terrible taste in men."

'Hollyoaks': Eamonn Holmes films guest appearance

Sky News and This Morning host Eamonn Holmes has filmed a guest appearance on Hollyoaks.

The broadcaster shot his scenes for the Channel 4 soap earlier today (December 17), working alongside regular cast member Rachel Shenton, who plays glamour girl Mitzeee Minniver.

http://i1.cdnds.net/11/12/broadcasting_eamonn_holmes_2.jpg

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/20/300x225/rachel-as-mitzeee-2.jpg

Shenton and the Hollyoaks crew travelled to Sky News's base in London for the scenes, which seemingly see Mitzeee appear on Holmes's Sunrise programme.

Mitzeee's semi-celebrity status makes her no stranger to TV appearances, but details of why she is hitting the airwaves this time around are being kept under wraps for now.

Writing on Twitter, Holmes joked: "Just to say @RachelShenton, thank you for being a delight to work with. Do you think the audience will take to our blossoming romance plot?"

He added: "Big thanks to Hollyoaks for giving young acting talent like myself and @RachelShenton our big breaks. Valentine's Day Special."

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/51/618x609/soaps-hollyoaks-eamonn-holmes-rachel-shenton.jpg

Meanwhile, Shenton kept fans guessing about the storyline by tweeting: "What is mitzeee doing with @eamonnholmes?"

Hollyoaks will air the episode in question next year.

'Hollyoaks' James Sutton calls for live episode

James Sutton has called on Channel 4 bosses to commission a live episode of Hollyoaks.

The Cheshire-set teen show, which will have its 20th anniversary in 2015, is now the only major British soap opera which hasn't screened a special live edition.

Sutton told What's on TV: "I don't know how a live episode would work here, but I think it'd be exciting. I'd be well up for a live episode.

"It's just like theatre but a lot more people are watching it and hoping that you screw it up!"

The actor continued: "We need to campaign for a live episode."

Sutton added that he wishes he could have been a part of Emmerdale's recent live 40th anniversary edition.

"I watched the live Emmerdale episode and I thought it was incredible. I watched it and thought, 'I wish I'd been involved in that'.

The 29-year-old starred as Ryan Lamb in the village serial for two years between 2009 and 2011.

Coronation Street has screened live episodes in 2000 and 2010 for its respective 40th and 50th anniversaries, while EastEnders also marked its 25th birthday with a live special in 2010.

Digital Spy exclusively revealed back in October that the soap star would reprise his famous Hollyoaks role as John Paul, who he originally played between 2006 and 2008.

I so agree with this:worship:, don't think it would ever happen though...

Hollyoaks stars Ashley Taylor Dawson and Jessica Fox on bringing baby Oscar home for Christmas

Hollyoaks' Nancy and Darren tell RadioTimes.com all about a dramatic festive period in the Osbourne household and what's in store for 2013...

It’s been a tough old year for Darren and Nancy – can you fill us in on what’s been happening over the last six months?

Jessica Fox: It's been a pretty big year! We’ve had a wedding and then the pregnancy which was so exciting and that ended unfortunately in miscarriage which both characters didn’t deal with particularly well. And since then we’ve gone on to have Oscar, thinking that everything’s going to be wonderful and again that has been a very difficult time for both characters. It’s been a really big year for both of us, dramatically and emotionally, and it’s interesting to see how the characters have decided to deal with that and yet have come back together stronger. Now we’re going to bring baby Oscar home for Christmas which is very exciting…
Ashley Taylor Dawson: The highlight of their year, definitely. So for now everything is good.

But with the festive period coming up, surely they’re set for their fair share of tears and misery?

JF: They think it’s all going to be good – of course it’s not going to be! Because it’s a soap and because it’s Christmas and there’s got to be something horrific that happens at Christmas
ATD: They’ve got the baby back at home now and it’s a big Christmas for the Osbournes – a lot’s going on and everyone’s got their problems and it all clashes at the same time.

It all sounds pretty dramatic…

JF: Well, the Esther bullying storyline is kicking off at the moment and that’s really coming to a head over Christmas and the new year. And that obviously involves Esther and Ruby but the rest of the family is unaware of what’s going on.
ATD: They’re all under one roof so everyone overlaps and they’re all part of each other’s lives. You think it’s enough having this premature baby coming back into the house but at times that’s the least of our worries because there’s so much other stuff going on. It’s absolute chaos at the Osbournes, but it’ll be good to watch…

You’ve had some pretty tough storylines this year – with the miscarriage and Oscar’s premature birth – have they been hard to film?

ATD: I think we’re happiest when we’re doing those sort of scenes because you’ve got a focus and when you’re doing real drama and real scenes and you’re holding up a persona like that – that’s why we do the job. You’ve got to do it justice as there are people out there who’ve been through it and if they don’t appreciate what you’re doing then you’re not doing your job well.

Do you ever find it hard to switch off after a day at the office?

ATD: When you’re getting those storylines, it’s more satisfying leaving work – when you’ve had some great scripts and you feel you’ve nailed them and you’re happy with what you’ve done. I think the focus when you’ve got stuff like this is so intense that I find it quite rewarding – you walk away from work feeling satisfied. Obviously the storylines are terrible and what you’re going through is the worst but that’s why you do the job – to enjoy that rush.

Did you do any research for the Oscar storyline?

ATD: I’m a patron of the children’s hospital in Manchester so I’ve been over there a few times and I’ve got some friends who have been through the same. It’s a really, really scary thing to go through and having a kid now myself I can only imagine what that must be like. You can never get yourself ready for something like that – it happens in your life and you’ve just got to deal with it.
JF: I did a month of research online and went to Broadgreen hospital in Liverpool. People are incredibly generous with what they’ll put on the internet – their own personal stories and experiences. I found that really helpful to try and see all the sides of it – the hurt, the upset, the anger and the confusion that comes with something like that. When you’ve carried a baby and you’re expecting it to be fine and then it’s not, it was really interesting to see how people have dealt with that.

Have you had much feedback?

JF: The feedback from Twitter was amazing and I was shopping in Tescos shortly after the miscarriage storyline and a lady came up to me and burst into tears, gave me a big hug and said, “You’ve told my story, thank you.” And that was incredibly over-whelming. Amazing.

Nancy and Darren have been through so much but it was quite a surprise when they first got together – what makes them work well as a couple?

JF: Nancy was quite embarrassed about it when it first started happening but then they seemed to keep waking up in bed together so there was obviously some good chemistry there. And that since has turned into love.
ATD: Opposites attract – Darren’s a male chauvinist and Nancy’s a feminist. They never, ever saw eye-to-eye in the past but they’ve been through a lot together and they’ve actually known each other a long time. Nancy brings the order and discipline and they make a good team. You wouldn’t expect them to but they work well together and I think through the differences they’ve gone away and dealt with their problems in their own way and they come back together.

But when Oscar was born prematurely, Darren blamed Nancy’s manic lifestyle for his condition and they nearly split up…

ATD: I think that was just the way Darren was dealing with the situation – he genuinely believed that Nancy was overdoing it and he was right in some ways about the way she’d been dealing with the pregnancy. They’d already had a miscarriage and she’d been running around and stressing out after he made it quite clear that he wanted her to relax and take it easy. I think his initial reaction may always be there because in the back of his mind he believes that that is the truth and if she hadn’t been running around and doing these things, the baby wouldn’t have been born like that.
JF: And Nancy blames herself massively for the fact that Oscar was born prematurely and I think if there are issues that come up with his health, there will be whole new feelings of that guilt and blame which will come in – I think that will always be there whenever something happens with Oscar.

Nancy’s lost a lot of people important to her in the past – will she be able to cope if anything happens to baby Oscar?

JF: I think whatever you throw at Nancy she tends to come out the other side a bit stronger, but I would be absolutely horrified if they tried to take Oscar away or anything happened to him – I don’t know how she’d cope with that at all.

What can we expect from Darren and Nancy in 2013?

ATD: Our baby’s back at home now so it’s a journey of how we deal with Oscar. It’s a big year for the Osbournes so I think we’ll see a lot of Darren and Nancy’s journey, how and whether they stay together and how they deal with having a family. I think it's going to be an interesting 2013 for us…

You’ve both been in Hollyoaks for a considerable amount of time – do you ever thing about the future of the characters and how much further they can go in the soap?

JF: I’ve been on the show for seven years and when I started Nancy was a fifteen-year-old rebellious schoolgirl with pink hair and wanted a tattoo. Now she’s a married mother who’s still working hard on her career so she’s taken a big journey - as well as having attempted rape and drug abuse and all sorts of things happening to her. So there always seems to be something and I think as long as the writers keep writing for your character, it’s always an absolute pleasure and Hollyoaks is a very exciting place to be.
