'Hollyoaks' star Stephanie Davis: 'We used real gun in robbery scenes'

Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis has spoken about using a real gun for upcoming scenes on the soap.

The firearm was brought in for filming an armed robbery which results in a sixth former being shot.

Davis - whose character Sinead O'Connor is present at village shop Price Slice during the robbery - explained to PA: "We used a real gun on set, although it wasn't loaded. We went through all of the health and safety checks and had an expert overseeing it.

"In the final scene the gun actually had to be fired which really added to the tension of the scene."

The actress went on to confirm that the shoot was very safe, with a lot of time put in to ensure things were done correctly.

"People think soaps are done really quickly, but each scene of the robbery took about two hours to film. It was a full day," she said.

'Hollyoaks' Tony actor Nick Pickard 'honoured' to be given cancer story

Hollyoaks star Nick Pickard has revealed that he was 'honoured' to be given his latest storyline.

Pickard's character Tony Hutchinson has recently been diagnosed with testicular cancer. The show bosses are hoping that Tony's storyline will help to raise awareness of the disease among the public.

Speaking on Daybreak today (May 10) about Tony's health battle, Pickard said: "I was obviously honoured to be doing the storyline. We want to raise awareness and all of that. I was in there with the boss and I was scared, really.

"You're scared that you're not going to do it justice. It's going to be a long storyline - it's going to go right through to October. Hopefully we can raise awareness over a long period.

"The boss told me just before Christmas about doing it and said I'll be losing my hair. It's all coming off in about four weeks, so I'm getting a bit apprehensive about that."

Pickard also admitted that the harrowing storyline has increased his own awareness of the disease.

"What I've become aware of is that if you do catch it early, it is very curable. But a lot of people just don't come forward. If you find a lump, you've really got to go and see your GP, get in there and get it sorted."

Tony is currently keeping his diagnosis from his partner Diane, who is carrying twins. However, Tony recently confided in Darren as the pressure of keeping the illness a secret became too much.

Pickard said: "He doesn't tell Diane and that's what a lot of people don't do. They're scared to tell people. Diane has been told that she's having twins and it's her first ever time having a baby. He's scared that the pressure is going to send her over the edge and he doesn't want to make her worry.

"He only really confides in Darren for a long, long time. He bottles it all up, really."

Hollyoaks has wasted no time in revealing Texas Longford's killer as viewers discovered the identity of the culprit in the latest episode.

Airing on E4 last Friday (May 10) and on Channel 4 tonight (May 13), fans saw that Texas's husband Will Savage was responsible for her fatal fall as a heated row between the newly-married couple led to tragedy.

Digital Spy recently caught up with James Atherton, who plays Will, to hear his take on the big reveal and where his character goes from here.

How do you feel about Will being revealed as Texas's killer?
"I think that it's worked really well. There's been a huge build-up to this and even though it was great to have a bit of a whodunit, it's nice that they've revealed it so quickly that Will was the killer - and also that he can walk!

"As the viewers will have seen, we're playing it so that it was a bit of an accident that happened in the heat of the moment, rather than being a calculated killing. Will can act rashly when he gets angry, so now he's a killer because of that!"

When were you told this was coming up?
"It was quite a long time ago now. It was a short while after we came back from Christmas, so I've known for a good few months that this would be happening."

What kind of a reaction are you expecting from the viewers?
"Well, Texas is a pretty well-loved character so I'm pretty sure that Will is going to be hated now! That could be a good thing though, as you never want people to just be indifferent to your character."

Why is Will trying to frame Dodger?
"Will is an opportunist, so this presented itself because Dodger was the one who ran away after the murder, and also because Texas said Dodger's name just before she died.

"To be honest, Will is still in shock himself and wondering what the hell has just happened. Before the reveal, we were playing it quite ambiguous as to whether Will was deliberately trying to drop Dodger in it when he was being interviewed by the police. He tactically dropped Dodger's name in there just at the right moment!

"At the end of the day, Will is just happy to see anyone go down for this murder other than himself! He's just interested in self-preservation - it has to be anyone but him!"

So is Will pleased when police attention turns to Leanne later this week?
"He is, as he's the one who sets Leanne up! He plants the incriminating picture of Texas and Leanne arguing just before the murder, and then Ash and Barney take it straight to the police. Again, it's like Will is pulling puppets on a string and taking any opportunity that he can.

"At the point where Will finds the picture, he's freaking out because Dodger has just been released. He knows that the focus could switch to him at any moment, so when he finds the picture of Texas and Leanne fighting in the window, he knows that he can use it to his advantage.

"Over the next couple of weeks, you'll see Will doing everything he can to distract people from the fact that he's done it. He plays the grieving husband to the best of his ability, because he's just trying to keep the heat off himself."

Does Will feel any guilt?
"I think he does feel terribly guilty, but he's so distracted with trying to stay out of prison that it gets a little bit lost. What's interesting is that because Will is playing the role of the grieving husband, the guilt is there but he's using it to make sure that his reaction looks more realistic. He's using his own guilt to defend himself."

How long has Will been able to walk for?
"As far as I know, it hasn't been for very long. We haven't really talked about the specifics, but I imagine it's only been for a month or so."

Is Will capable of killing again?
"Never say never! I don't know whether he could ever be calculated about it - I don't think he's a Silas. In those heightened situations and heated moments, Will can lose his head and act in any way at all. When he's under pressure, he'll do whatever he can. Once his emotions are flared up, there's no stopping him, so I think it's definitely there now that he's done it once!"

Killers often have to get their comeuppance in soaps, but that's not always the case in Hollyoaks! Do you think the viewers will want to see Will's true colours exposed?
"Without a doubt they will! Even before Will killed Texas, I think the audience wanted to see the end of him after the way he's behaved in the past few weeks! (Laughs.) We need to see him come to a horribly sticky end at some point, although there's much more fun to be had before that."

How did you feel about saying goodbye to Bianca?
"Bianca is fantastic and she's been a wonderful actress to work with. As a cast, we all hang around together outside work so I know that Bianca will be missed by everyone - she really will''.

In the next few weeks, we'll see that Dodger and Doug don't believe that Leanne is guilty. Does Will have to watch out for those two playing detective?
"Yeah, Will does everything in his power to convince both of them that Leanne is guilty. He even goes to the remand centre with Doug and manipulates a conversation to make Leanne lose control, knowing that it'll show how crazy she can be. He hopes that will show Doug that Leanne could well have done it.

"The problem with Dodger is the possibility that he could find something incriminating against Will when he's rooting through things to try and clear Leanne.

"Dodger actually gets his hands on Will's little notebook, which is full of Texas's movements. Afterwards, Will decides to burn all of his trinkets and mementoes from his relationship with Texas, just to cover his tracks. It's the worst thing ever for Will that Dodger is free and that he's trying to clear Leanne."

Can we expect more scenes with Will and his mother Anna?
"Absolutely. There's some fantastic stuff coming up between them, but it's a little way off yet so I can't talk too much about it. Saskia is fantastic to work with and there's plenty more to be had from that relationship. I think Will and Anna might be two peas in a pod!"

There's only a few days left of voting for the British Soap Awards. Why should our readers be backing Hollyoaks?
"I think there's been some absolutely fantastic storylines this year. The bus crash week was obviously pretty awesome, and I think one of the best things that's been on screen has been the bullying story with Esther. It was handled so delicately and given so much time to breathe. Also, Emmett's leaving week was a rollicking good story, and what a fantastic end to a fantastic character.

"It's been a really strong year all round for us, so I think we really deserve some credit and notice this year. I think Hollyoaks has been the best that it's been in a long time and everybody in the building wants to make it even better.

"It's all about telling good stories and we're in a good place with that at the moment. Bryan Kirkwood's had a lot to do with that, so all I'd say is 'do the H!'"

Jennifer Metcalfe signs new Hollyoaks deal

Here’s some good news for Hollyoaks fans - Jennifer Metcalfe has signed a new contract.

The actress has agreed a deal that will see her stay in Chester for at least another 12 months.

Bosses believe her character, feisty Mercedes McQueen, is vital to the soap’s success.

They have promised her that she will be handed top storylines over the coming months.

A show insider said: "Mercedes is a very important character for us.

"We lost Jacqui when Claire Cooper decided to leave, there was no way we could let Jen go too.

"Mercedes has some seriously explosive stuff coming up this summer that will have consequences for months to come.

"We are confident the fans are going to love it."


Great news IMO:). I know Mercedes divides opinion, but she is a big character and I am pleased that she is sticking around because it is important to keep the long term cast.

Jen Metcalfe is one of the high profile names in the show so that is another reason why HO want to keep her!

The Roscoe’s make a grand entrance!

The Roscoe family have been dubbed the ’male McQueens’ and they certainly live up to the hype during their first week in Chester.

The five brothers cause a stir when things get heated during a drinking session in The Dog.

But if you thought their mum Sandy was the calm one of the bunch - think again!

Gillian Taylforth, who plays Sandy, says she arrives all guns blazing.

She explained: "Her first scene is in The Dog and someone’s criticising the boys, Sandy comes in saying, ’Who are you having a go at?’.

"Nobody screams at her boys but her! She’s very, very protective of her children.

"Then she finds out that it’s Darren, the landlord of the house they’re renting, and she has to reverse course a little bit!"

With that kind of attitude we can’t imagine she’s going to make many friends in the village.

Gillian laughed: "I did a scene the other day with Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste, and I had to slap him round the face.

"And I’ve just done a piece where Sandy clashes with Nancy and has a go at her, but Sandy has to back down because she’s renting from her and Darren."

'Hollyoaks' Gillian Taylforth: 'Soap move has been so welcoming'

Hollyoaks newcomer Gillian Taylforth has revealed that the people of Liverpool have welcomed her since her move there for her new soap role.

The former EastEnders actress has signed up for the role of Sandy Roscoe, who settles into the village alongside her five sons later this month.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Taylforth said: "I'm not just saying this, but people have been genuinely so friendly to us." Smiling, she added: "Wherever we've been, whether it's Tesco or B&Q to get bits and bobs for the new house, everyone says 'Alright Kath, how are you?'

"And they ask what I'm doing up here and when I tell them I've come up for Hollyoaks they're so lovely and kind."

Despite her new role on Hollyoaks, Taylforth revealed that people still have trouble believing that her EastEnders character Kathy Beale is actually dead.

She said: "She was actually killed off in 2005 when she was in South Africa and I was lucky because they rang me up to tell me, which they don't always do. At first I said 'Do you have to?' because I felt like she was a part of me and I think I imagined her living happily ever after somewhere.

"They explained why they were doing it, and that it would happen off-screen which in a way was nice, but in another way it means no-one quite believes it.

"I was at the airport once and this woman came up and said, 'Hello Kath, when are you coming back?' and I said 'Well, I can't, can I? I'm dead'. And she said ,'I didn't see that, so as far as I'm concerned you're still alive!'"

Taylforth recently revealed that she only had one day to accept her Hollyoaks role.

'Hollyoaks' Danny Mac praises killer reveal: 'Will has come to life'

Hollyoaks star Danny Mac has praised the decision to make his on-screen brother Will Savage the killer of Texas Longford.

Earlier this week, flashback scenes confirmed that Will (James Atherton) was responsible for pushing Texas to her death on their ill-fated wedding day.

Speaking to Digital Spy about the twist, Mac - who plays Dodger Savage - commented: "I was really happy for James, because it's such a nice thing for the writers to have driven his character towards. Also, for Dodger, it's a seed that's planted and will hopefully produce some nice material for me further down the line, in a selfish sense!

"James is so fantastic at dealing with this. I think Will has come to life so much more since he's had this new drive and purpose. You can also see where it came from. Myself and James used to have discussions on where Will could go, as he was quite a bookish character who wasn't really doing much.

"Over time, Will had scenes with Silas, and became the jealous brother because he wasn't as confident around girls as Dodger is. This opened the door for Will to go down this dark road.

"I think it's also nice when they bring in a character and develop them into a villain, rather than just bringing in a 'bad guy' out of nowhere. It's better storytelling and much more exciting for the show, as we've seen Will develop."

The actor admitted that part of him wanted to see serial killer Silas make a shock return for Texas's murder.

He explained: "We all knew Will was the killer, but part of me was hoping that we might be thrown a curveball! I thought maybe they'd told us that Will was the killer, when really it'd been Silas.

"That would have required a lot of organisation and scheduling, but it's always possible that Hollyoaks can do something like that. Hopefully that's something that could be done in the future. I think it'd be really nice one time to have a major surprise for everyone - even the cast!"

Mac also said that it was the right move to clear Dodger, who originally appeared to be the main suspect in the murder mystery.

He explained: "I think it would have been too obvious if Dodger had done it. If you really wanted to throw a curveball, you wouldn't make Dodger the culprit. For the sake of the story and the way the future will go, it's good that it wasn't him. He seems to be one of the normal ones in the village at the minute, which is quite nice to play.

"I think that a lot of people side with Dodger because he's an 'everyman' type of character. Obviously he does have a lot of problems that your everyday person might not, as the longer you're in a soap, the crazier things get! But he does seem to be one of the more level-headed characters."

'Hollyoaks' Jorgie Porter: 'Cast would go crazy over Soap Award wins'

Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter has joked that the show's cast might "go crazy" if the show has a successful night at the 2013 British Soap Awards.

Hollyoaks and Doctors are often seen as underdogs at the annual ceremony as they face fierce competition from their more mainstream rivals Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Porter explained that 'Team Hollyoaks' wouldn't know how to react if the programme secured a string of gongs.

The actress, who plays Theresa McQueen, laughed: "I would absolutely love Hollyoaks to take home awards, but I do wonder what we'd do as a Hollyoaks cast if it happened! We might go insane and crazy things might happen, because I don't think we've had this opportunity before.

"We might gatecrash the whole stage. We don't just know what might happen!"

On being up for the 'Sexiest Female' title this year, she continued: "It's amazing to be up for a Soap Award, especially after being in the show for so long. New characters come in and you wonder if you might be forgotten, so I'm really happy and excited about it. It should be a really good night."

Porter also confessed that she still hasn't chosen a dress for the big night.

She said: "I won't have my dress sorted until the day - literally that afternoon! I'm a bit laid-back. I might start panicking on the day if I haven't found a dress by 7pm.

"But sometimes you might have a dress for months and then suddenly think, 'I don't want to wear that anymore' and regret buying it, so at least I won't have that problem!"

The 2013 British Soap Awards air on Sunday (May 19) from 8pm on ITV.

'Hollyoaks' actor Tom Scurr confirms exit as Barney

Hollyoaks actor Tom Scurr has confirmed his exit as Barney Harper-McBride.

Last night's (May 15) episode of the soap saw Barney leave after getting a phone call from his family asking him to come home.

Scurr later took to his Twitter account to confirm that this represented his exit, saying: "Leaving to be rich again, Toodle-oo."

James Atherton also commented on Scurr's exit on his own Twitter account, writing: "@tom_scurr you've made my last year tolerable at best x been in league with."

Speaking about his departure from the soap, Scurr said: "It's been a great experience and lots of fun working on Hollyoaks and although I'm sure there'll be plenty to miss, I'm extremely excited about what could come next.

"No doubt I'll see many of the good friends I've made again and again."

Scurr has played Barney on the show since 2011.

So that is most of the fresher group gone now, they wasted them by focusing on the annoying sixth form group instead.

Hollyoaks star Nicole Barber-Lane loves playing Myra McQueen.

Hollyoaks star Nicole Barber-Lane has revealed that she’s the happiest she’s ever been on the soap.

The actress, who has played Myra McQueen since 2006, said: "I’m having the best time ever at the moment. Some stuff coming up, you’re absolutely going to love it. Watch out, that’s all I can say.

"The great thing about this character is you can take her seriously, you can take her to panto levels, you can take her anywhere and she sort of sits quite comfortably.

I’m really enjoying Myra at the moment. For me it’s one of the best times for her as a character."

While many of the characters in Hollyoaks show they can have a meaner side, Nicole says she can’t see that happening with Myra.

She added: "I can’t exactly see that happening. That would be funny but you couldn’t take her seriously as that.

"She wants to be happy, she wants her family around her, a bit of romance, she wants that happy ending."

Hollyoaks bosses have cast actress Sophie Austin to play new character Lindsey Butterfield, Digital Spy can exclusively confirm.

Lindsey is the fiancée of the eldest Roscoe brother Joe (Ayden Callaghan) and will make her first appearance on screen early next month.

Billed as "feisty, determined and driven", Lindsey is more than capable of holding her own with the outspoken Roscoe boys.

Lindsey's romance with Joe is a strong one as he regards her as the love of his life, while family matriarch Sandy (Gillian Taylforth) enjoys having another female living in the house.

The new arrival will also be working at the local hospital as a junior doctor, which means sharing plenty of scenes with schemer Doctor Browning (Joseph Thompson) as the pair become colleagues.

Speaking of her new role, Austin commented: "I'm so excited to be joining the cast of Hollyoaks as Lindsey Butterfield and being part of the Roscoe clan. We have lots of exciting stories ahead."

Hollyoaks airs Lindsey's first scenes on Monday, June 3 at 6.30pm on Channel 4.

Emmett Scanlan praises his Hollyoaks co-star after award win

Emmett Scanlan has paid tribute to his former Hollyoaks co-star Kieron Richardson following their win at the British Soap Awards.

The two lads - Chester’s Brendan Brady and Ste Hay - picked up the award for best on screen partnership.

In a chat with SoapSquawk Emmett hailed Kieron as a true professional, admitted he wants to work with him again - possibly at Hollyoaks - and praised the couple’s army of fans.

Talking about their win, Emmett said: "The job is the award, this is just the icing on the cake - the after sex cigarette!

Hollyoaks’ James Sutton teases new storyline

James Sutton has given fresh hints about his explosive new storyline.

The actor, who plays Chester’s John Paul McQueen, has previously told
SoapSquawk that bosses have lined up a top new plot for his character.

Now James has revealed that we are only week away from seeing it on screen.

And he’s confessed that a new male character is being brought into the soap and his arrival will spark this new storyline for John Paul.

Talking about the storyline, James told SoapSquawk: "It’s like a ripple effect, you know when you drop a pebble in a pond.

Hollyoaks is going to have another wedding as Mercedes McQueen and doctor Browning tie the knot.

Fans will know that Mercedes is no stranger to a wedding - she’s been married twice before and would have married Riley Costello if she hasn’t of confessed her all about her affair with his dad.

So we can’t help thinking that the union of two of Chester’s most devious characters could end in tears.

'Hollyoaks' Jessica Fox: 'New Nancy plot will be biggest yet'

Hollyoaks star Jessica Fox has revealed that Nancy Osborne's new storyline will be her biggest one ever.

Nancy's future with husband Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) is currently under threat due to her painkiller addiction and the meddling influence of family friend Sienna Blake (Anna Passey), who frames her for a shock accident next month.

Speaking to Digital Spy at the British Soap Awards 2013, Fox confirmed that the story will be a slow-burner, running all the way until the end of the year.

Fox teased: "There's so much good stuff coming up. It's the juiciest, most exciting, most dramatic stuff that I've ever had on the show."

Fox also spoke to us about the chances of Nancy's marriage surviving and her thoughts on painkiller storylines being so prominent in the soaps at present

'Hollyoaks' Nick Pickard: 'Tony receives bad news at the hospital'

Hollyoaks favourite Tony Hutchinson is left devastated next month when he learns that his cancer has spread aggressively.

Tony was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer, and although he has tried to stay positive, an upcoming episode sees him discover that he will need further treatment as his battle is only just beginning.

Nick Pickard, who plays Tony, told Soaplife: "He was trying to be optimistic, telling himself that everything would be fine, and this is the worst news.

"Suddenly he's faced with his own mortality. He's petrified and he breaks down and starts crying."

In a surprise twist, Tony has his ex-partner Cindy (Stephanie Waring) to support him as she finds out about his illness.

Pickard said: "She turns up at the hospital just after Tony's had his testicle removed and says to him, 'Why didn't you tell me you were having this done?'

"But then after five minutes she's talking about herself. That's quite refreshing because with Darren, he talks about the seriousness of [his] illness. Cindy's a bit of light relief."

Asked whether Tony will tell his pregnant girlfriend Diane O'Connor (Alex Fletcher) what's going on, the actor replied: "There will come a point where he'll have to. He's going to start looking ill and she'll see that something is up."

'Hollyoaks' James Atherton: 'Will could kill Dodger'

Hollyoaks star James Atherton has said that his twisted character Will Savage is capable of killing his own brother Dodger.

Will has turned to the dark side this year and was recently at the centre of a big storyline twist as he pushed his wife Texas Longford out of a window and to her death on the day of their wedding.

Jealousy of Dodger (Danny Mac) has motivated much of Will's bad behaviour this year, making the charmer a likely target if Will ever strikes again.

Speaking to Soaplife about a possible second victim, Atherton commented: "Now he's crossed that line, killing again would be easier for him. He's certainly getting very dark and anything looks possible.

"However, I don't see him as a villain in the way that Brendan, Silas or Warren were. Will's strength is that he uses his 'weakness' to manipulate people."

He continued: "I think he'd be capable of killing Dodger. They're like Cain and Abel."

In a twist, however, Will actually tries to save Dodger next week when he spots that Theresa McQueen is holding him at gunpoint.

Theresa (Jorgie Porter) resorts to the desperate measure after discovering that Dodger has secretly recorded her confessing that she killed Calvin Valentine.

Atherton explained: "Will has no idea that Theresa's confessed to Dodger that she killed Calvin. He thinks she's turned on Dodger because he treated her badly. He helps talk her out of shooting him because he doesn't want Dodger to be a martyr."

'Hollyoaks' character to start fire in cruel scheme

Hollyoaks schemer Sienna Blake will start a small fire at The Dog in the Pond in a twisted scheme against her friend Nancy Osborne.

Sienna embarks on the dangerous plan as she wants Nancy's husband Darren to see that his partner's painkiller addiction is making her an unfit mother.

Anna Passey, who plays Sienna, told All About Soap: "She wants to teach Nancy a lesson. You see, Nancy's not listened, lots of people have tried to help her, and now Sienna needs to shock her and make Darren see how serious this is.

"Sienna finds Nancy passed out on the sofa. The iron is there and there's a pile of ironing on the side, so Sienna puts the iron hot-side-down on Oscar's clothes. She thinks she'll start a fire and it will draw attention to how far things have gone with Nancy, and open Darren's eyes to what a bad mum she is."

What Sienna doesn't realise is that baby Oscar is asleep upstairs at the pub, and her shocking actions have put him in danger.

When Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) discovers the blaze and raises the alarm over Oscar, a frantic Sienna rushes upstairs to rescue the youngster and is hailed a hero.

Nancy (Jessica Fox), meanwhile, faces a backlash as she is blamed for the fire. Things then get even worse for her as she discovers that her mum has had a fatal car accident in Canada.

Passey added: "After lots of arguments, Nancy discovers that her mum's been killed, so she has to go to Canada. She asks Sienna to stay and look after Darren and Oscar - she's inviting the wolf into her home!"

With Sienna wanting a place in the Osborne clan due to her own troubled family history, it's clear that this may only be the beginning of her scheming.

So Callum is OK. He won some money from the papers for being a hero and Ash bought a flat with the money for them to move in to once he is out of hospital.

Sinead giving birth in a car with only Finn and Esther by her side. Esther was a good support and I liked it when she slapped Sinead:joker:.

Diane got emotional at the hospital and named the baby Katie, wait till Diane has her twins her hands will be full with three children.

Good first episode for the Roscoe family and I am liking them so far. The lads clashed with Darren and Nancy but were shocked when they found out that they are their new landlords.

It is great seeing Gillian Taylforth back in soap, fab Actress and I think the family have lots of potential.

Sienna has an agenda when it comes to Darren/Nancy. I hope that the writers don't make Darren have an affair with Sienna, she fancies him but he does not know it and I would rather he try to work through the disagreements he and Nancy have. Darren still unaware of Nancy's painkiller addiction!

Hollyoaks star James Atherton has revealed that he wants to have a long future in the soap as killer Will Savage.

Atherton has said that he hopes Will can get away with murdering Texas Longford for some time yet.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Atherton said: "Theresa's got away with killing Calvin for years and I hope Will can do the same. He'll have to pay for his crime at some point, but I hope he has plenty of time to do more bad things."

Next Wednesday's (May 29) episode sees Texas's funeral take place. Whilst Will struggles through his speech, Dodger stands up afterwards and confesses his undying love for Texas.

Atherton said: "It's a performance for Will. He sits there and talks about how much he loved Texas, but then Dodger stands up and tells everyone about the Texas he knew and loved.

"To Will, it feels as if Dodger has won and, in that moment, he could get up and pounce on him."

"Footsteps were heard running away at the time of Texas's death, so Will has managed to evade a lot of questioning by being wheelchair-bound.

Hollyoaks revisits Theresa McQueen's dark side next week as she holds Dodger Savage at gunpoint.

Upcoming episodes see Theresa tell Dodger (Danny Mac) the truth about Calvin Valentine's murder, deciding to be honest about her past when he insists that there should be no secrets between them.

Unfortunately for Theresa, she soon realises that Dodger isn't really interested in her at all, and was only ever quizzing her to find out whether she killed Texas Longford.

When a distraught Theresa then threatens Dodger with a gun, could history be about to repeat itself?

Digital Spy recently caught up with Jorgie Porter, who plays Theresa, to hear more about next week's dramatic storyline.

Would you have liked Theresa to have been Texas's killer?
"Well, I think I've been quite lucky because Theresa has killed before but so far she's got away with it. Often soap characters don't get away with killing someone for very long, so it's quite unusual.

"If Theresa had killed this time she would have been a serial killer, so I think she would have definitely needed a comeuppance. Because of that, I'm glad that Theresa didn't kill again, although it would have been a massive and exciting storyline!"

How strong are Theresa's feelings for Dodger at the moment?
"She is obsessed! Theresa absolutely loves and adores Dodger. I think she just gets wrapped up in her relationships and always thinks her latest boyfriend is going to be the father of her children!"

Does Theresa realise that Dodger suspects she killed Texas?
"Not at first, but at the funeral, Dodger declares his love for Texas. Theresa can't believe it, and her reaction is, 'How can you still love this woman? She's dead!'

"Dodger also manipulates Theresa by telling her that they can be together, but only if there are no more secrets. He wants them to declare everything to each other. Theresa is quite shocked, but she does decide to tell him the truth about Calvin's murder.

"It's obviously not the right thing to do, but Theresa is so obsessed with Dodger that she thinks they'll have a 'happily ever after' if she tells him about her past."

"I think Theresa doesn't see herself as a murderer. To this day, she still believes that Calvin deserved what he got, because he was cheating, lying and he didn't want the baby that Theresa was carrying.

"It's actually a similar situation with Dodger. He still loves Texas rather than her, so when Theresa realises this, she gets very angry and thinks that she really could kill this guy…"

What's going through her mind when she holds Dodger at gunpoint?
"Theresa is in a blind blaze of fury! She can't believe that she's in the same situation again, and she doesn't understand why men just have to lie to her all the time. Theresa takes the word 'love' really seriously, so if someone tells her that they love her, she doesn't think they can just back out of it. She's absolutely raging with Dodger."

Is Theresa really capable of pulling the trigger, or is she just trying to scare Dodger?
"I definitely think she's capable of killing again. She got away with killing Calvin because the whole family stuck up for her, so who's to say that Theresa couldn't get away with killing Dodger too?"

Do you prefer playing Theresa's nicer side or her bad girl storylines?
"I really love the fact that Theresa has got so many sides to her. She's has a comedy role and can be loveable, but I feel really lucky that she has killed someone and still seems to be liked by the viewers.

"Theresa falls in love easily, like most girls do, and I think people can relate to that. But she also has a psycho side, which I think is what boys drive her to! Some girls can probably relate to that as well!"

Carmel is also getting suspicious of Theresa, isn't she?
"Yes, as it's bringing back memories of Calvin. The two of them had a massive row with each other back in the day over this. Calvin was the love of Carmel's life, so you never know whether she has really forgiven Theresa deep down. If she's done it before, who's to say she won't do it again? And if she does, who's to say that Carmel won't grass on her and get her arrested? Carmel probably thinks this needs to stop…"

There are lots of new male characters joining the village. Would you like Theresa to get a new love interest, or stay focused on Dodger?
"I always feel like Theresa needs a man in her life. I don't know whether pointing a gun at Dodger might ruin everything, but I absolutely love working with Danny Mac. He's so much fun, but you know what Theresa's like - she's like a little hussy!"

What else is coming up for Theresa?
"To be honest, I really don't know, but I know that we usually have late-night episodes so if they happen this year, I really hope Theresa is in them! That would be awesome."

Do you think it was the right choice to make Will the killer?
"Definitely. I think James's storyline is fantastic and with the way it's played out this year, I think it would have been a tragedy if Will hadn't been the killer, to be honest!

"Will is so creepy and so weird, so if he hadn't been the killer, I think people would have been disappointed. It's also a huge twist because nobody knew that Will could walk, so I think it's fantastic that he is the killer."

'Hollyoaks' Nikki Sanderson: 'Maxine, Blakes story is exciting'

Hollyoaks star Nikki Sanderson has predicted that it will take "a while" before her character Maxine Minniver realises that the Blakes aren't what they seem.

Maxine and Patrick Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) become a proper couple next week after the college headmaster makes a public display of his feelings for her.

The development doesn't go down well with Patrick's scheming daughter Sienna (Anna Passey), who is quietly seething as she has just paid for Maxine to go and visit her sister Mitzeee in the US - wanting her as far away from her father as possible.

Sanderson told Inside Soap of the storyline: "Maxine is shocked and delighted that Patrick declares his love so publicly. Much to Sienna's distaste, Maxine is more than happy to give Patrick a kiss and say, 'Let's do this and see how it goes'.

"They make a very odd love match. She's spirited and feisty - and illiterate! He's intelligent, composed and calm. They are opposites, and that's why it works."

Discussing the dark side to the Blakes, the actress continued: "The audience knows more than Maxine does, and it will take a while for things to click for her. She's only seen the good sides of Sienna and Patrick.

"She thinks Sienna is a kind girl who's paid for her to go to the US without any ulterior motive, and that Patrick is a thoughtful, lovely guy. Maxine is such a strong, bubbly character, so it'll be interesting to see what happens if she spots their true colours.

"It's exciting to wait for the scripts and see what's coming next."

Exclusive: PJ Brennan reveals what’s to come

Hollyoaks fans are fiercely divided over who they like Ste Hay to be with - Brendan Brady or Doug Carter.

With Brendan banged up behind bars it seems there’s only one option left... or is there?

PJ Brennan, who plays Doug, has revealed that Ste continues to "sniff around" his character in the coming weeks.

But Doug will become increasingly put off by Ste’s bad boy behaviour.
And then of course, there’s the small matter of their civil partnership to sort out.

Speaking to SoapSquawk, PJ said: "Ste is still sniffing around, he is in and out of his life and their business relationship at the deli is fractured.

"But Doug is one of the most reliable people in Ste’s life so I do think there’s more to be explored in that sense.

"I think since Brendan left he’s trying to re-establish who he is without Brendan around.

"But that means he ends up getting involved in behaviour he really shouldn’t be engaging in.

"Doug used to be a drug dealer but he’s stayed on the straight and narrow for a while now where as Ste, he’s devastated and depressed and that makes him do crazy stuff.

"He’s sad, he lost the love of his life even if that’s tough for Doug to hear.

"Doug still has feelings for Ste, I’m not sure if it’s love but there’s something.

"He would be a horrible liar if he said there was nothing going on and he was over Ste."

He may have feelings but things are about to change as PJ explained: "Ste steps all over Doug for a very long time but there comes a point when Doug finally snaps and is like ’Do you know what? I’m not doing this anymore’.

"He’s worked hard to bring his life back to a decent standard, he’s not going to sit back and be dragged down by Ste.

"It’s a very interesting relationship between them, I do think there are feelings towards each other but they have brotherly arguments.

"It’s like ’I hate you but the only reason I’m shouting at you is because I love you and I can’."

There is also the small matter of their civil partnership.

Some fans have questioned why this has never been mentioned, but PJ says it will get sorted.

He said: "Technically they are still married, they had the civil partnership and there’s all the paperwork around that.

"That needs to be sorted out which does get discussed soon.

"Some fans are a bit confused because we are still technically a couple but that’s not been mentioned for a while, it will get sorted!"

'Hollyoaks' Jennifer Metcalfe: 'I've never had stick for Mercedes role'

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe has revealed she has never had a hard time for playing fiery Mercedes McQueen.

The actress, who has been in the soap for seven years, believes that the viewers see the softer side to her alter ego.

She told The Mirror: "Some of the nasty characters in soaps get such a lot of stick from the public, but I never have.

"I've kind of tried to create a character that everyone loves to hate, so they see a softer side as well and I feel quite proud of that. It is great to go in and act Mercedes every day."

Metcalfe, who recently spoke out about her relationship with former Geordie Shore star Greg Lake, also admitted that there is no pressure in Hollyoaks to look a certain way.

She said: "There is no pressure in Hollyoaks at all. You have got every body shape there - curvy, thin, big boobs, big bum, auburn hair - you have got everything. It's the full mix."

Metcalfe continued: "I have put on half a stone since Christmas and for how much fun I have had in those five months, it has been worth every pound.

It was recently announced that Metcalfe had signed a new contract, meaning she will be in Hollyoaks for at least another year.

'Hollyoaks' Kevin Sacre wants return: 'I've barely watched it though'

Ex-Hollyoaks star Kevin Sacre has told Digital Spy he would like to return as Jake Dean, even though he "wouldn't recognise half the characters" currently on the soap.

The actor, who left the Channel 4 show in 2010 after eight years, said he is more open to making a comeback following the returns of old co-stars James Sutton (John Paul McQueen) and Gemma Bissix (Clare Devine), as well as producer Bryan Kirkwood.

'Hollyoaks' Ayden Callaghan: 'Joe Roscoe has dark past'

Hollyoaks newcomer Ayden Callaghan has revealed that his character Joe Roscoe has a "dark past".

The former Emmerdale actor made his first appearance as Joe this week as the full Roscoe family finally moved into the village.

As the eldest of the five Roscoe brothers, Joe has been billed as the patriarch of the family who always looks out for his siblings and has "old-fashioned values".

"He's a guy who's full of love and passion, but there is another side to him. There is a dark past there that he's trying to subdue."

Tony’s hospital drama

Tony Hutchinson is dealt so more bad news when doctors admit he faces a tough battle to beat cancer.

The Hollyoaks businessman has testicular cancer but even after he has his testicle removed he’s told he faces further treatment.

His ex Cindy Cunningham shows up to lend her support.

Nick Pickard, who plays Tony, told Soaplife: "She turns up at the hospital just after Tony’s had his testicle removed and says to him, ’Why didn’t you tell me you were having this done?’

"But then after five minutes she’s talking about herself. That’s quite refreshing because with Darren, he talks about the seriousness of his illness. Cindy’s a bit of light relief."

It seems that’s exactly what’s going to happen because Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes McQueen, says they are no match for her clan.

'Hollyoaks': Bad boy Trevor returns in Ste drugs storyline

Hollyoaks villain Trevor Royle returns to screens next week as he is revealed as Freddie Roscoe's drugs supplier.

Trevor, played by Greg Wood, was last seen in April as his dangerous presence contributed towards Jacqui McQueen's emotional departure from the village.

Trevor is now expected to feature more prominently in the show. Viewers are reintroduced to him as the ongoing drugs storyline with Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) and the Roscoes intensifies.

Ste thinks he's on to a winner as he arranges for his drugs to be delivered with pizzas as a handy disguise. However, when his careful plans start to go awry, Freddie (Charlie Clapham) is far from impressed and refuses to keep supplying Ste.

Fortunately for Ste, he now has his new flatmate Sinead O'Connor (Stephanie Davis) as a helper. Sinead manages to distract Freddie's attention at the pub and swipes his phone, hoping to help Ste cut out the middle man by getting a meeting with Freddie's supplier.

When Ste sets off to meet Trevor, he is left disappointed as the bad boy refuses to supply him. However, Trevor is growing frustrated over Freddie and later decides that he can make some use of Ste after all - ordering him to teach Freddie a lesson.

As Ste approaches Freddie with a metal pole ready to strike, will he take another step back towards the dark side?

Meanwhile, Sinead is also finding herself on a dark path as she starts selling pills for Ste.

Sinead is enjoying the opportunity to make some extra cash, but things soon go wrong for her too when she is vengefully attacked by a student she sold a dodgy pill to.

Ayden Callaghan compares the soaps

Ayden Callaghan may have just joined Hollyoaks but he’s not a novice when it comes to working in soapland.

Some fans may recognise him from his Emmerdale days playing Miles De Souza.

Now he’s got his feet firmly under the Hollyoaks table as the head of the Roscoe brothers, we couldn’t help but wonder how the two soaps compare.

Ayden, who plays Joe Roscoe, told SoapSquawk: "They are both great places to work.

"Emmerdale was a fun place, it’s an older cast so the atmosphere is slightly quieter, whereas Hollyoaks is a really vibrant place to be.

"I enjoyed my time on Emmerdale, but Hollyoaks is my favourite place that I’ve worked."

He added: "I’ve got a great group of guys I’m working with, the other Roscoe brothers are great, and the character is great, I enjoy it more than my character in Emmerdale.

“I’ve got stuff coming up that I can sink my teeth into, stuff that I didn’t really get to explore in Emmerdale.

“That’s not to say I never will because Miles De Souza is still alive somewhere, so never say never!"

Hollyoaks fans may have seen the end of 'Stendan' earlier this year, but producers are keeping Ste Hay at the centre of the show with a dark new direction for the character.

Viewers have seen Ste return to drug dealing in recent weeks and he looks likely to be involved in even more trouble in upcoming episodes as he starts associating with returning bad boy Trevor Royle (Greg Wood).

Digital Spy recently caught up with Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste, to hear about his alter ego's future and his reaction to winning the 'Best On-Screen Partnership' prize with Emmett Scanlan at the British Soap Awards.

Congratulations on the British Soap Award win! How did it feel to claim the prize on the night?
"It really didn't feel real at first! When I started watching the clips of everyone else in the category, I thought, 'Maybe we haven't got this!' I was completely shocked when we were announced as the winners, and I think you could see that from my reaction.

"I imagined that it would feel horrible to go up on stage, because you're so nervous in that situation and your legs are shaking, but I actually loved it! I couldn't believe it. It was also nice that me and Emmett got to share that moment as our last ever Hollyoaks thing."

The 'On-Screen Partnership' prize was panel-voted, so had you given any thought beforehand that they might have liked Stendan?
"I hadn't, because we'd been up for the award before two years ago and we didn't get it. With Emmett going and the storyline moving on, our on-screen partnership had ended so I wondered whether that would count against us, too. Secretly I'd thought we might not win it!"

How have the five Soap Award wins affected the atmosphere on set?
"I think it's just a really positive atmosphere on set at the moment. We work just as hard as the other soaps, if not harder because we film single-camera and always have a lot of continuity to think about. We've had such a busy year with stunt after stunt and massive storylines, so for us to win some awards at the end of all that has just been amazing."

After two and a half years working closely with Emmett, what's it like to not have him around anymore?
"It's just like any relationship that ends in real life - you just have to learn to stand on your own two feet. Emmett was a little bit of a crutch for me, but he's not around anymore so I'm having to find my own feet and work out what I'm doing with the character, as well as portraying what the bosses want me to with Ste. I can't get the advice from Emmett anymore, but I think I'm doing an alright job."

How do you feel about the recent change in direction for Ste's character?
"It's challenging, because I played Ste a certain way for so long, but now I'm getting new scripts and it's like reading someone else's lines. Ste wouldn't be doing these things if Brendan was there. Now that Brendan's gone and Ste is acting this way, it's like having a completely different job and a completely different character! His head is messed up because he's so lonely.

"Ste also has a new friend in Sinead, and her life isn't exactly a bed of roses either. With her problems and Ste's problems, those two characters are like a little atom bomb waiting to go off. Their stories are going to be quite explosive, which is exciting!"

Ste's fans seem glad to see his bad boy side back, so are you pleased with the reaction?
"I am, because it's also the little things that people are noticing. The way I walk and the way I talk when I'm playing Ste is changing slowly, too. I've been working on those fine little details and making sure that it's quite a slow change rather than a quick one. People are starting to pick up on it now and I've had a few tweets about it. We're doing it subtly, ready for what is to come."

Will the fans be shocked by how dark Ste's storyline is going to become?
"Yes! They won't just be surprised by how dark it gets, they'll be surprised by everything that's coming up in the story. Every time I pick up a new script, there's something that's shocking for me to read. I keep saying, 'I never expected that to happen!' Now that Browning and Jim own the club and Ste isn't saving for that, what are his aims when he's selling drugs?
"I think all Ste wants to do is make money. In the back of his head, it's always to prove to Amy that he can do the right thing, even though he's selling drugs. Ste wants to be able to provide money to support the family."

Ste's drug dealing starts to intensify next week. What can we expect?
"Ste has come up with a little master plan! He starts selling pizzas from the deli, but instead of just getting pizzas, people can ring up and get a drugs delivery in with the pizza. Robbie's not around anymore as he's been kicked out by the Roscoes, so Ste ends up getting Jason involved in the plan instead.

"Jason isn't really aware of the full story as Robbie hasn't filled him in, so Ste sends him off on a delivery. Unfortunately, Jason ends up taking the wrong pizza - the pizza with the drugs in - to the police station, which just spells disaster straight away!

"Doug ends up finding out and then there's a massive fall-out between him and Ste all over again. They have a big bust-up at the deli."

Later on, Ste tracks down Freddie's supplier Trevor (pictured above). Is Ste aware of just how dangerous Trevor is?
"He isn't, but Ste is attracted to bad boys. In comes Trevor, which means that Ste is going to get involved in even more messy and dark stuff, which is going to be exciting. Is he going to be the new Brendan - who knows?"

Can Ste hold his own against someone like Trevor?
"No, just look at the size of him! Inside, Ste is petrified of Trevor and what he's capable of. But Ste can do some quite nasty things himself. I think he's going to be led up the wrong path…"

Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson recently caught up with Digital Spy to chat about the new direction for his troubled character Ste Hay.

Are you pleased to be working with Steph Davis (Sinead) more?
"Steph Davis is a law unto herself! (Laughs.) She sings every five minutes and she's crazy, but she keeps it fresh every day and you just never know what you're going to get with her performance. She's very natural and I really like working with natural actors who you can just bounce off.

"Steph is great with that - she keeps me on my toes. Even judging by Twitter, you can see that she has a very colourful life, so she keeps it entertaining every day!"

Can Ste and Doug's friendship survive? Would they ever get back together?
"I think what's nice about their relationship is that because Ste is so messed up and he always makes the wrong decisions, Doug is a bit like his conscience. Doug is always there for him, but at the same time, how many times does Ste have to push Doug until he gets the message that Ste doesn't want to be helped? There is a storyline there with Ste and Doug, but we can't say what it's going to be just yet…"

Would you be for it or against it if Ste had a new love interest?
"I think I'd be against it. Ste isn't in the right headspace at the moment to start a new relationship, or start up an old one again with Doug. I think it's nice that Ste is doing his own thing now and he's got this new friend in Sinead. It's not all about love and angst at the moment, it's just nice, gritty storylines instead."

Ste has a long history with Tony, so could he get involved in the cancer storyline?
"Tony has always been a father figure to Ste and has dipped in and out of his life when Ste has needed advice or help. When Ste didn't know whether to go through with the wedding to Doug, he went straight to Tony for advice. I think when Ste does find out about Tony's cancer, it's going to knock him for six…"

The fans are wondering whether Ste will get a new shot for the opening titles, as the current one doesn't really suit the new direction for his character!
"You'll have to ask the producers about that! The titles are always awkward because we're staring directly at the camera, which we don't normally do. I would like to do a new one, because it does need a bit of an update."

Ste fans are also desperate for you to be in Hollyoaks Later. Do you think it will ever happen?
"I'm in my eighth year at Hollyoaks now, I've never been in a late-night episode and I'll probably never be in them! You never know, though!"

Would you like to see Amy and the kids back, or do you think that wouldn't fit in with the current storyline?
"Whether it fitted in or not, I would absolutely love to see them back. I get on with Ashley [Slanina-Davies] so well and love her to pieces. I absolutely adore the kids too, so I'd love them to be back. Whether it's now or in the future, I don't know just yet."

'Hollyoaks' Alfie Browne-Sykes: 'Diabetes has shaped Jason'

Hollyoaks newcomer Alfie Browne-Sykes has admitted that portraying a diabetic character is a big responsibility.

The actor's alter ego Jason Roscoe has Type 1 diabetes and suffers a frightening health scare this week as he finds himself trapped in a car with his blood sugar dropping after failing to take his insulin.

Speaking to Diabetes UK, Browne-Sykes revealed the research that went into the dramatic scenes.

He explained: "I was aware of diabetes but didn't have a big understanding about it. I had some kind of idea of the symptoms and how serious it was but not a lot else. Since joining Hollyoaks, the research team has done a brilliant job of providing me with loads of information.

"Also, one of our directors, Paul Riordan, has a son with Type 1 diabetes and he's answered any further questions I've had. He directed the episodes with the diabetes storyline I'm doing this week, and that reassured me that we were spot on. I know it's important to a lot of people that we get it right."

The actor added that Jason's diabetes is a big factor behind him being so different to his four brothers.

He said: "In a way, I think his diabetes has shaped his character. He's grown-up for his age and the condition has partly made him who he is."

Sophie Austin says she’s no pushover

All eyes will be on the Roscoe brothers over the next couple of weeks but fans have been warned not to overlook the pretty brunette in their clan.

Joe Roscoe’s girlfriend Lindsey Butterfield is very much part of the family.

And Sophie Austin who plays her says fans shouldn’t expect her to be a pushover just because she’s surrounded by men.

Hollyoaks’ latest recruit told SoapSquawk: "I would says she’s a feisty character.

"She’s a trainee doctor so she’s very determined and career driven.

"She’s grown up with all the Roscoe lads because she’s been with Joe for so long.

"Joe’s the love of her life, he’s got a rough part to him but she’s the one who controls that, she’s the yin to his yang."

Sophie has also revealed that Lindsey and Sandy, played by Gillian Taylforth, are thick as thieves.

She added: "Gillian and I are like best friends, she’s not the wicked mother* in*law.

"Lindsey’s grown up with the family so Sandy sees her very much like a daughter and she’s a second mum to her.

"It was Sandy who encouraged her to be a doctor.

"Lindsey’s very calm but you only have to push her once and the London side to her comes out!"

'Hollyoaks': Anna Passey teases shock fire, Sienna Blake future

Hollyoaks fans get a horrifying glimpse of what Sienna Blake is capable of next week as she starts a fire at The Dog in the Pond.

When Sienna spots that Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox) has passed out upstairs at the pub, she seizes the opportunity to expose the new mum's painkiller addiction, regardless of the danger involved.

Digital Spy recently caught up with Anna Passey, who plays Sienna, to hear more about the storyline and why this is only the beginning of her character's games.

It's hard to believe you've been on our screens for seven months already! How are you finding it at Hollyoaks?
"I'm absolutely loving it and I never want to leave! I can't believe it's been seven months already, as it's really flown by. It's great to have been so busy, so I'm really enjoying it."

How do you feel about playing such a complex character?
"It really is a dream - I feel like I've been given a gift of a part. Sienna is a bit of a villain, so she's quite exciting to play in that respect. I always think that the baddies are really fun roles to have. At the same time, I also think this is much more complicated than your standard, black and white 'baddie story'.

"Because the character is so complex, it's really exciting for me and whenever I get a new script, I'm always racing to the end of it to see what happens! I genuinely never know what Sienna is going to do next."

Did you always know that Sienna had these issues?
"When I first joined the show, the producers were very thorough with me when they explained the background of Sienna's character. I knew all about her upbringing and the problems she'd had with her family. But at that point, I didn't know the specifics and just how far Sienna would go in this storyline!"

Did Sienna start out genuinely wanting to be a friend to the Osbornes?
"I think Sienna's intentions have definitely changed as time has gone on. To begin with, Sienna really was just looking for a friend. She's had quite an unusual upbringing, because she's never really had any friends. Normally, most people learn how to socialise and form relationships with people as they grow up, but Sienna has missed out on all of that. She's only ever really had her father.

"To start with, Sienna didn't quite understand how the Osbornes worked. They're very different to her own family, but she was quite intrigued by them. I think Sienna genuinely started out wanting to be a really good friend to the whole family, but as time goes on and she sees that Nancy isn't appreciating what she has, that's when Sienna starts to turn against her. Sienna thinks Nancy is absolutely bonkers for not realising what she has."

How does the fire storyline at The Dog come about?
"Sienna is aware that Nancy has been having a problem with painkillers for quite a while. She's tried to be a friend to Nancy and support her, but her main concern is the baby. Sienna has grown up with a bad mother in her opinion, so she's worried that Oscar is now in the same situation.

"Sienna has been trying to support Nancy and guide her back towards being a good mum, but when she realises that Nancy is ignoring all of this and is still taking the painkillers, she's really quite angry about it. She wants to teach Nancy a lesson, and also open Darren's eyes about the sort of woman he's married to.

"Sienna comes in one time and sees that Nancy has passed out on the sofa again. Nancy has been doing the ironing, so Sienna quite calmly walks over and puts the iron hot-side-down on one of Oscar's baby-grows. She effectively sets fire to The Dog flat!"

What was it like to film these scenes?
"It was so exciting! I've never filmed a fire before, so it was quite fun to see how they set it all up. It sounds silly, but I was actually quite surprised that it was a real fire! To be part of all that was brilliant."

Does Sienna feel any sympathy for Nancy when her mother dies and she has to go to Canada for a while?
"At that point, Sienna is thinking more selfishly. She's just pulled this stunt with the fire and made Darren aware of who he's married to, so she feels like she's achieved what she set out to do. However, when the news comes through that Nancy's mum has been killed in a car crash, it brings Nancy and Darren back together again.

"Darren instinctively wants to support his wife and take care of her, so on a selfish note, it gets in the way of Sienna's plans and schemes! I don't think she has much sympathy for Nancy in that situation."

Darren and Nancy are a much-loved couple, so are you nervous about how fans might respond to Sienna's games?
"I am so nervous! (Laughs.) Obviously everybody loves the Osbornes, and Darren and Nancy are a really sweet couple when they're working well. I think the problem is that the character of Sienna is quite a closed book. People haven't really got to know her yet, as when she first came in, she stood back and observed everything rather than showing too much of herself.

"It's only since Sienna has struck up this friendship with the Osbornes that she's started to come out of her shell a little bit. I think the audience are just starting to warm to her now, and they like the friendship between Nancy and Sienna, so I'm very nervous to see what happens when Sienna wrecks all of that! The audience might be very disappointed in Sienna after finally putting their trust in her!"

This is a long-running storyline, so are you excited by where things are heading in the long-term?
"Definitely! With it being quite a slow-burn storyline, there's lots of opportunity for me to create quite a complicated character. It's not as black and white as it seems, as Sienna has her reasons for everything that she does. It's quite exciting to know that this is going to go on for a while longer. We're going to see it through, and hopefully by the end of it, the audience will have a much better idea of who Sienna is."

Sienna isn't too happy to see Patrick and Maxine together either! Will she continue her attempts to split them up?
"I think people have been a bit confused by that to begin with, as people have even been asking whether Sienna is in love with Maxine! It's more that Sienna has grown up just with her father, and they haven't really had anyone else around. She's become so close to Patrick and is so used to having all of his attention on her, so now she feels a bit abandoned.

"When Sienna sees Patrick giving all of his attention to Maxine, she finds it very unsettling. I don't think it's going to be an easy ride for Maxine with Sienna!"

What's it like to have Jeremy Sheffield as an on-screen father?
"I absolutely love Jeremy and couldn't have wished for anyone better to play Sienna's father. I remember that I used to have a massive crush on him when he was in the Natalie Imbruglia 'Torn' video! If somebody had told me at the time that one day I'd be on Hollyoaks and he'd be playing my father, I would have literally died!

"Jeremy is great to work with and he's such fun. He always knows what he's doing, so he's such a pro."

How did you get into acting?
"I've been doing it since I was at school, really. I had a really fab Drama teacher called Mr Lewis, who really got me into it. I went off to university to study English Literature and Drama for a while, and then I went off to drama school.

"I've always had acting as my plan and have always been very much involved in it, but I've only been working professionally for the last six years. It's mostly been on feature film, theatre and commercials, so this is my first soap role and it's a whole different ball game for me. I'm finding it really exciting!"

'Hollyoaks' Mandip Gill: 'I'd like Phoebe's family to be introduced'

Hollyoaks star Mandip Gill has revealed that she would like her character Phoebe McQueen's family to appear in the show.

Gill, who has played Phoebe for a year and a half, admitted that she would be interested to explore her alter ego's past.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Gill said: "I'd like to see what happened to Deena and Graham, the horrible people who groomed her, and I think the audience would like to know that, too.

"We never got to see what happened after they were arrested, so it would be great to find out that they got their comeuppance. That might lead to the introduction of more of Phoebe's family. Getting a sense of her background would be nice."

Viewers will have seen Phoebe's mum turn up in the village last year.

Gill also revealed that she would like Phoebe to share scenes with some of the funnier characters on the show.

Gillian Taylforth has predicted that her five screen sons will drive the women in Hollyoaks wild.

The former EastEnders icon plays Sandy Roscoe, the brassy matriarch of Chester’s latest arrivals.

Welcoming five fit men into the village might sound like a good idea but Gillian warns there could be trouble.

'Hollyoaks' Roscoe boys strip off for car wash

Hollyoaks' Roscoe brothers hold a topless car wash next week in a desperate bid to come up with some cash.

The family are in dire need of extra income as they have to pay back Doctor Browning for the damage they caused to his car when Jason was trapped inside.

Browning is facing financial problems of his own as Mercy's wedding demands are becoming increasingly extravagant. As a result, Browning warns that he'll get the Roscoes' garage closed down if they don't pay him back by the end of the week.

When Ziggy (Fabrizio Santino) comes up with the idea of stripping off for customers, Freddie (Charlie Clapham) and Joe (Ayden Callaghan) are quick to get on board with the idea.

Freddie also wonders whether selling his late father's watch will raise enough money to save the family business, but will his plan end in disaster?

'Hollyoaks': Doctor Browning's killer secret to spread further

Doctor Browning's future in Hollyoaks could rest entirely in Myra McQueen's hands later this month when she discovers that he really did kill Lynsey Nolan.

Browning and his fiancée Mercedes Fisher accidentally reveal the secret when they discuss the murder on the morning of their wedding, not realising that Myra is eavesdropping on the conversation.

Myra (Nicole Barber-Lane) is listening in from a wardrobe and immediately decides that she needs to stop the wedding. However, when she gets trapped inside, she is powerless to prevent her wayward daughter from marrying a killer.

Show bosses aren't revealing whether Mercedes and Browning do tie the knot, but there are dramatic scenes ahead as Myra later confronts Mercy over Lynsey's death.

Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Mercy, told All About Soap: "Mercy arrives home and manages to get her out [of the wardrobe], but then Myra reveals she heard Browning confessing to Lynsey's murder.

"Mercy is floored that she knows, and what follows are some long scenes between mother and daughter, where she begs Myra not to go to the police."

Browning actor Joseph Thompson added: "Browning has absolutely no idea that Myra knows the truth, but it's obviously very risky that someone else is in on his secret."

To make matters worse for Browning, he later opens one of the wedding presents to find an exact match of the scarf he strangled Lynsey with, along with a note that warns: "I know what you did".

Thompson added: "It's a huge shock. He doesn't know who it's from - whether it's Mercedes playing more games, or someone else. Browning is all about control, so this throws him out of his comfort zone and makes him potentially more dangerous."

Hollyoaks airs Mercy and Browning's wedding episodes in the week commencing Monday, June 17 on Channel 4.

Hollyoaks' Sinead O'Connor will be reported to the social services, in an upcoming storyline.

Diane (Alex Flecher) is more determined than ever to make her guardianship over Katy official, after Sinead gets arrested.

However, after moving back in with her mum, Sinead (Stephanie Davis) starts to find her maternal instincts kick in as she spends more time with Katy.

Diane is devastated at the thought of losing Katy and this is heightened when Sinead announces that she is moving in to Ste's and taking Katy with her.

Tony is shocked when a desperate Diane tells him that she is planning to call the social services. He issues her with an ultimatum and says if she calls the social services, she will lose him forever.

Just as Sinead is rushing out of the door to make her bail appointment, a lady from social services arrives. Sinead assumes her mum is to blame and sticking to his word, Tony walks out on Diane.

However, Diane later goes and sees Sinead and says it wasn't her who rang social services.

'Hollyoaks' catfight for Mercedes Fisher, Lindsey Butterfield

Hollyoaks minx Mercedes Fisher will have a huge catfight with newcomer Lindsey Butterfield later this month.

Mercedes goes on the warpath when she hears that her fiancé Doctor Browning (Joseph Thompson) has been growing close to Lindsey (Sophie Austin) while working with her at the hospital.

The trouble begins when the Roscoe family get their hands on a damning CCTV picture which shows Browning making a pass at Lindsey in a lift.

Freddie (Charlie Clapham) believes that he can use the image to blackmail Browning. However, when Joe (Ayden Callaghan) later reveals the scheming doctor's guilt, Browning lies that Lindsey was the one who made a move on him.

Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes, told All About Soap: "It comes out when Lindsey's boyfriend Joe Roscoe strides into the McQueens' and shouts it all out. Mercedes storms off to track Browning down, but runs into Lindsey in the village.

"Forget a catfight - it's full-blown fisticuffs! Sophie Austin and I really went for it - we worked out some good moves!"

The latest drama for Mercy and Browning is yet another obstacle standing in the way of them tying the knot.

Metcalfe added: "Mercy loves him so much, she really wants to believe that he's telling the truth, but she does have her doubts. Browning pretty much has to drag her down the aisle kicking and screaming!"

'Hollyoaks': Patrick Blake to turn nasty with Maxine Minniver

Hollyoaks' Maxine Minniver will be left startled when she sees a glimpse of Patrick Blake's dark side later this month.

The pair have recently got together as a proper couple, but Patrick's controlling behaviour looks set to cause problems between them over the next few weeks.

Things look up for Maxine (Nikki Sanderson) in upcoming episodes as she lands a new job as the manager of College Coffee.

Maxine soon gets carried away with the role, and when sixth former George Smith (Steven Roberts) quits the shop as a result of her power-mad behaviour, Patrick turns nasty by revelling in her failure.

Patrick (Jeremy Sheffield) later has a change of heart as he needs Maxine's help when the venue for an event he's hosting falls through.

When Maxine offers up the coffee shop as a replacement, the evening goes well until Maxine tries to dance with him in front of his guests.

Becoming sinister once they're in private, a furious Patrick grabs Maxine's arm and warns her never to embarrass him like that again.

Fans can also expect more scenes with Patrick's ex-partner Anna Savage (Saskia Wickham) later this month.

When Anna finds out that Patrick gave Dodger a false alibi for Texas's murder, she visits Patrick at home, accuses him of killing Texas and vows to get revenge.


I am speculating a possible domestic violence storyline? Poor Maxine if this happens at the hands of Patrick:(. Patrick's dark side is intriguing.

Hollyoaks schemer Sienna Blake tries to take over Nancy's place in the Osborne family later this month.

Viewers will soon see Nancy (Jessica Fox) leave the country for a while after she learns that her mother Margaret has been killed in a car accident in Canada.

With Nancy away, a ruthless Sienna (Anna Passey) steps up her attempts to become indispensable to the Osbornes.

When Sienna attends one of baby Oscar's hospital appointments with Darren, she introduces herself as Mrs Osborne and even plays a part in decision-making over the youngster's future.

Darren and Sienna both agree that Oscar should have cochlear implants fitted, even though Nancy has always had reservations over the idea.

With Darren grateful for Sienna's support, he later leans in for a kiss with her.

It's clear that Sienna's recent manipulations are paying off, and her only obstacle might be young Tom Cunningham (Ellis Hollins), who is growing increasingly uneasy over her continued presence at the pub.


Noo I hope that Darren does not give into temptation and ends up having an affair with Sienna. I would rather Darren and Nancy work through their problems.

Hollyoaks newcomer Fabrizio Santino has warned that the Roscoe family are going to take over Chester.

And he’s laughed at claims the McQueen girls will prove a match to him and his four screen brothers.

Fabrizio, who plays Ziggy Roscoe, said: "We’re very pleased with being compared to the McQueens, that’s great.

"But we’re the Roscoes, we’re something new.

"You’ll have to wait and see what we’re all about.

"The McQueen girls reckon they can take us on but we’ll see, they’ll have to put their money where their mouth is!

"We’re going to take over Chester, that’s the plan!"

'Hollyoaks': Ayden Callaghan talks Roscoe dramas and Joe's dark past

With the Roscoe clan continuing to shake up life in Hollyoaks, Digital Spy recently caught up with actor Ayden Callaghan - who plays eldest brother Joe - to hear more about what's coming up for the family.

As the unofficial patriarch of the Roscoes, fans have already seen Joe trying to keep his younger siblings out of trouble. However, events may be spiralling out of control in the next fortnight as Doctor Browning continues to pile on pressure over their debt, as well as turning sinister with Joe's fiancée Lindsey.

Read on to find out what Ayden had to say about all things Hollyoaks and Joe!

How are you finding life at Hollyoaks so far?
"It's been a while for us now, as we started in mid-March and had to keep it quiet for some time. The worst part was probably having such a great time and not being able to tell anybody about it!

"It's really a pleasure to get up in the morning and come to work here at Hollyoaks. I've always been terrible at getting up in the morning, but now I'm bouncing out of bed and into work first thing in the morning. I'm loving every second of it, because it's a very vibrant and energetic place to work."

When did you first hear about the role?
"Interestingly enough, I was very close to getting a previous role on the show and got down to the final screen test, but that didn't work out. Obviously that was for the best in the end, but I wasn't to know that at the time!

"I remember that I was in a pub last September with a friend at Muswell Hill and he told me that he was auditioning for a new family in Hollyoaks. I hadn't heard anything about it, so I emailed my agent that night hoping that I could get seen. I was told that I wasn't being brought in for this one and was gutted, but several weeks later, my agent said, 'Ignore me - they want to see you tomorrow morning!'"

What was the audition process like after that?
"I had a meeting the next morning with the casting director Kevin Riddle in London, and was told at lunchtime that they wanted to see me again in Liverpool the next day. I was in Liverpool all day and met some of the guys who became my future on-screen brothers.

"A few weeks later, I was back in Liverpool for a similar process, but it was just with the guys that you see on screen now. We did some workshops and worked with different scripts, and then just before Christmas we found out that we'd been successful. It was a long process, but they were obviously being very particular about finding the right actors and getting the chemistry right. I think that's proved to be very successful and hopefully the results speak for themselves."

How do you describe Joe?
"I think Joe is your alpha-male type - he's red-blooded and passionate. When we were in the development stages, the characters didn't have names but we were given animals to think about. Joe's animal was a lion, so that sums him up - he's powerful, he can be dangerous but also incredibly protective of his family, as a head lion would be.

"On the surface, Joe is pretty straightforward - there's no nonsense and you absolutely know where you stand, because he'll tell you! But there's a lot of stuff under the surface and a lot of things that have happened in Joe's past, which have led him up to this point. I would say he's battling himself a lot to keep the beast inside tame.

"One of the things we've talked about is that Joe is just one red mist away from the nick! But having met Lindsey and fallen in love, he's got something to better himself for and try to work towards. Lindsey very much keeps him on a level ground. Without Lindsey, I think Joe could be incredibly destructive to himself and to anybody around him…"

Will we hear more about Joe's past over time?
"Well, the creative team have been fantastic in creating such wonderful characters for us, and we've spoken a lot about their history. That history informs what we do on screen and how the characters react to different situations. There is a colourful past there with Joe, and I'm sure in time there will be elements of that coming up to the surface and into storylines. Obviously I can't go into too much detail, but I think there's plenty of scope for love, drama and laughs."

Next week, the Roscoes hold a topless car wash to raise some cash as they still owe money to Doctor Browning. Was that fun or embarrassing to film?!
"It was fun as it serves a comedic purpose in the show. It's a bit of light-hearted entertainment which is important for a show like Hollyoaks. You get to see the three brothers stripped to the waist with the ladies and having a great time!

"There is an element of embarrassment - of course there is! I don't think any of us love ourselves that much! (Laughs.) At the same time, I do spend a lot of time at the gym and work hard at my physique, so if I see that I've got to take my top off in a scene, it's not something that frightens me."

When Browning turns sinister with Lindsey, does she tell Joe about it?
"Lindsey actually keeps that to herself for a little while, as otherwise Joe would be straight in there to sort it out! That's probably why Lindsey keeps quiet, because she knows that his way of solving problems is usually to go through them like a wrecking ball!

"Obviously it's a new job for her at the hospital and Browning is her boss, so it probably wouldn't be the best career move to have her caveman of a boyfriend come storming in and ripping doors off the hinges!"

What kind of reaction have you seen from the fans since the Roscoes arrived?
"Even before the first episode aired, our castings were released to the press and I could see just how active and passionate the fans of this show are. It's something that I haven't experienced before, even though I've been on the soap circuit in the past. The show recently won a number of prizes at the Soap Awards, and that's down to having an incredible fanbase.

"The fans really have been overwhelming with their generosity and their support. It's lovely to receive those messages - and having social media tools gives you a quick link to the viewers, which is lovely.

"People seem to be getting on board with the Roscoes in a huge way, and I think having someone like Gillian Taylforth - who's a British TV icon - on board certainly doesn't hurt!"

How are you getting along with your on-screen brothers?
"We're getting along great. Fabrizio (Ziggy), Charlie Clapham (Freddie) and Alfie (Jason) live together, and then myself and Charlie Wernham (Robbie) also live together separately. We did discuss all five of us living together to begin with, but I said that I might end up killing someone! (Laughs.)

"As lovely as they all are, I'm an old lion and need my space. When I'm at home, the remote control is mine and the TV is mine, and everybody would have had to obey those rules! I said that it was probably better for me to disappear into my own cave, or have someone come along with me who's happy to be my little flunkey! Charlie Wernham was first to the post on that and couldn't wait!

"We do all get along great and I think the chemistry does come across on screen. That's a testament to the casting department at Hollyoaks and the producer Bryan Kirkwood. From day one, we've clicked and all of the love and fun you see on screen is very evident in real life. We hang out together most days and have a really, really good time."

Has your previous experience on Emmerdale helped you with Hollyoaks?
"Being on a soap previously has helped, because I knew what to expect in terms of what it would be like day-to-day and everything that comes along with it. Emmerdale is a great show to be part of with great people working there and great fans, but they're not as active online, as the demographic there is slightly older. The fans of Hollyoaks are much more active and interactive with you, so that's something different."

As you have that experience, do the other Roscoe lads approach you for advice?
"Yes, the boys do sometimes. I'm not here to be their dad as they need to make their own way, but they do come to me for advice and say that it's nice having me about. If I feel like there's something I need to tell them, I'm not backward in coming forward with them. They're great, talented lads and I know that if I wasn't here, they'd be getting on just fine."


Ayden is a nice guy and I am glad we are seeing more of Joe, as he was the Roscoe we seen least of so far but he is coming into his own now with this stuff with Dr Browning, Mercedes and Lindsey!:)
