Claire Cooper: Karma is going to get Hollyoaks' Cindy

Claire Cooper believes karma is going to catch up with Hollyoaks' Cindy Cunningham after she was "disgustingly dishonest" by having an affair with Jacqui's late husband Rhys Ashworth.

Claire Cooper thinks karma is going to get Hollyoaks' Cindy Cunningham "big time".

The 33-year-old actress plays Jacqui McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, and she hopes her alter-ego's nemesis Cindy - who was recently revealed to be having an affair with Jacqui's late husband Rhys Ashworth (Andrew Moss) - gets her comeuppance after she strikes her over the head with a large Santa Claus.

Claire exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Jacqui is angry and anger can help you release so much. She hits her on the head and that could kill someone.

"Cindy has been so dishonest, disgustingly dishonest that I think karma is going to come and get Cindy big time. It's just been waiting to happen."

Claire admits she found it funny during filming when she had to whack Stephanie Waring - who plays Cindy - over the head with the festive model, and she believes Jacqui will go to "extreme lengths" to get wreak on Cindy.

When asked if it was funny, she replied: "Yeah it was! The Santa is quite large that I bonked her over the head with so it's quite unfortunate on her part!

"I think Jacqui will go to extreme lengths because she feels what Cindy has done is just not right. That why she clobbers her over the head with a giant Santa Claus!

"They were going to give me an angel but that has religious connotation so we couldn't do that."

Hollyoaks' Nikki: Stripper scenes were 'awkward'!

Hollyoaks actress Nikki Sanderson has confessed that filming this week's stripper scenes was 'slightly awkward'.

The former Corrie star's character Maxine Minniver joins forces with sister Mitzeee this week to take revenge after they discover male pole dancer Tyson - who they audition for their hen party business - has been dating them both.

Nikki said of the audition scenes: "It was brilliant - the lads that were playing the strippers were fantastic and really good fun. It was slightly awkward! But it's such a fun storyline and I think it's going to come across really well on screen.

"It's much better when you've got the girls around you. I would have been mortified if I'd been sat there on my own so it was good that Rachel (who plays Mitzeee) was there with me."

She added of Maxine and Mitzeee's revenge: "The actor who plays Tyson is such a lovely, lovely young man and he was really good. He was tied to railings in some little underpants and a shirt and it was freezing, but he didn't complain once. He was so professional!"

It was just wonderful to see him so happy.

I think this is going to be a difficult watch at times.

Also, I kept blushing whenever they kissed. It just looks even more intimate somehow because they're together properly, and just able to enjoy each other.

I need to rewatch before I can even try to take it all in.

How bloody sexual was that scene in bed though. The mounting, the whispering, the kisses.

And the scene in the bar was so moving. Incredible. Wasn't expecting that at all.

Every moment spent wishing they'd be together was worth it.

'Hollyoaks': Emmett Scanlan talks Ste, Brendan reunion and future

It's been a long wait, but this week fans of Hollyoaks duo Brendan Brady and Ste Hay finally got the moment they'd been hoping for as the pair reunited.

Just when it seemed that Ste (Kieron Richardson) was about to commit to a future in New York with husband Doug Carter, he finally came to terms with what he really wanted and headed over to Dublin to get back with Brendan.

To hear what the future might hold for the couple, Digital Spy recently caught up with Emmett Scanlan - who plays Brendan - for his first full interview about the 'Stendan' reunion and the next big challenge for his character.

Are you pleased that Brendan and Ste have finally reunited?
"I think it was needed, as there hadn't been any closure in the relationship. The public and the 'Stendan' fans out there had been waiting for it, and this company listens to its public and its audience. We had no idea when this adventure started that it would become such a cult relationship.

"There was a lot of unfinished business between Brendan and Steven - a lot of anger and a lot of unresolved issues. They've been loving each other from a distance.

"In order to be able to live with Steven, Brendan needed to be able to live with himself. He wasn't able to do that for a long time, so I think it was important for this to come along and for us to take the storyline full circle. Now we can hopefully see what it'd be like for these two characters to live together in complete acceptance of each other and who they are."

How did you feel about filming the episodes in Dublin?
"Well, I know that the reunion was a long time in the planning, and when I found out that the episodes would be in Dublin, it was extraordinarily exciting for me. To be able to go off set and on location to my home country and home city was great. It was an honour to be able to take Kieron and James [Sutton] there along with the crew and the director. Then when I was watching the episodes, to see those aerial shots of my city was a very proud moment.

"I really hope we did it justice and that we paid the fans back for their unflinching loyalty. The fans stood by the couple through anything, regardless of any shortcomings of the characters. Myself and Kieron had a great time filming it and we had quite a few laughs.

"It was definitely needed, because there had been too many questions left unanswered with these guys. If one character was to eventually leave and there had been no answers with the Brendan and Steven relationship, I think that would have been awfully frustrating. I know it would have been for me, anyway. I need to explore these different avenues with my character."

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/43/618x715/soaps_hollyoaks_scanlan_richardson_4.jpg

Did you have any free time in Dublin or was the filming schedule too busy?
"What I did do was organise a club for everyone on the last night with a free bar. But filming in Dublin was also an opportunity to get home and have my daughter Kayla with me. She stayed with me for the whole four days that we were filming and was helping out behind the scenes, working on continuity and was even calling 'action' on a couple of takes!

"Kayla really got involved and everyone was so, so beautiful to her. She's a wonderful girl and everyone made her feel welcome. I think she was even a passing extra in one of the scenes.

"So my time in Dublin wasn't just to spur on the Brendan and Steven storyline and bring it to a new realm of excitement - it was also a chance to touch base with my family. I don't get enough days like that, so I latched onto that and grabbed it with both hands."

There's been a big change in Brendan this year. What would you say was the turning point to bring about that change?
"The main turning point was he realised that he wasn't infallible and invincible after all. He realised that he cared so much for Steven, even if that meant letting him go. He also cared so much for his sister, even if that meant going to counselling.

"When Brendan lost his family, his sister and his lover, he was left on his own with an empire of dirt and he realised certain things weren't so important - he wasn't happy and he needed to make a change. The life-or-death drama with Walker was another factor that helped him to turn around and be the man he always wanted to be.

"You think Brendan is going to get there now, you really do - and that's what I like about Brendan, there's always hope. But the devil himself has yet to appear in the form of Papa Brady…"

Can Brendan and Ste have a normal and happy relationship?
"Brendan is going to try to be the boyfriend he could never be to Steven, and he's not going to shy away. He's not going to hold hands and walk down the street, but he's not going to hide away either. If that means looking after Steven and being a father to Leah and Lucas, then it's something that Brendan can do. He was a terrible husband, but he tries to be a good dad.

"Brendan has got heart and I think that is what's important for any likeable villain - they need heart, vulnerability and to be flawed. There needs to be hope, too. I think there is hope for Brendan and we're only going to find out in the upcoming months whether it's all going to be in vain or not."

Are you enjoying working with the two child actors who play Leah and Lucas?
"Yeah, as a father myself, I do like working with kids. The kids are fine and they're great little actors. You've got Ella-May and Reuben playing Leah and Lucas, and the two of them just watch and drink up everything that's happening so the reaction is pure. It's a great gift to have at that age - Drew Barrymore had that aged 6 on ET and she stole the show.

"It can be frustrating at times for me because I'm in such high intensity scenes, and then cut to the next scene and I could be making a bug motel with Leah! It's difficult to go back and forth in that way, but that's the life of Brendan, really."

Brendan's traumatic history with his father is very dark territory. Is it tricky to do it justice at 6.30pm?
"I think we can do it justice. Let's make no mistake, we've done so much dark stuff anyway with the domestic abuse, the Danny Houston murder, and many more storylines. A lot of it has been implied rather than being shown because it's a 6.30 show, so you have to use your imagination. Will they be able to do it justice? Well, Hollyoaks have been doing it justice for 17 years, so I'm sure they will.

"The guy who plays my dad, Fintan McKeown, it's like we've known each other for all of our lives. We're bouncing off each other like osmosis and taking on each other's characteristics on a subconscious level without even knowing it. When Brendan, Cheryl, Seamus and even Steven are on set doing a scene, it's very awkward and tense. There's a strange weirdness about it.

"The character of Seamus Brady has been a huge character in Hollyoaks for the last two and a half years, and he's never once stepped into the village. He's always been on the periphery, but now you've got a face to the name and all that history to draw on, so you put all these guys into a scene and it gets dark."

Is Brendan still scared of his father?
"Absolutely - it goes without saying. When you have a circus elephant and you tie the rope around this little baby elephant's leg, he can't break the rope and he can't get away. He grows up to be a massive elephant and he could easily walk away and snap that rope in two, but he's conditioned into thinking that he can't break it, so he can't even try. It's that kind of analogy.

"Brendan is still the 8-year-old child who was raped by his father. He can take his dad in a fight possibly - but psychologically, forget about it. This man has owned Brendan and made him the man that he is - the identity that he's trying to get rid of right now. Brendan tries to stand up to him, but he falls back down. How do you get out of something like that? I don't know. His father sure as hell hasn't changed."

Will there be more scenes between Brendan and John Paul when they're back in the village together?
"I was talking to James and he said there's a couple of scenes coming up, which is good because we get on really well. We both have very difficult techniques with how we go about a scene, but I think they complement each other.

"James plays John Paul flawlessly. I joke that he does it 'awesomely averagely', but he's very good and he's been doing this for years - longer than I have.

"It was a good craic to be able to sit down at a table in a pub and do some scenes with him in Dublin, knowing that he was previously a big character in the show. To slap John Paul and Brendan in the same scene, let alone the same bed, I think is a stroke of genius. We had a lot of fun doing it and I'm sure we'll be dancing on set again."

A lot of fans think Brendan and Walker have unfinished business. Would you like to work with Neil Newbon again?
"Yeah, I'd like to work with him again. The Brendan and Walker storyline ended abruptly and it's not finished, not by any stretch of the imagination."

We met Brendan's youngest son Paddy for the first time this week. Would you like to see the full family come over for a visit to the village?
"Oh, of course - it brings out a different side to Brendan. But does that work with the storyline that we're doing? At the moment, they don't want anything to do with Brendan, and rightly so because he hasn't been there and he hasn't been the dad that he can be. As people and actors, they're fine company. But it's up to the scriptwriters - they'll know what to do with that."

If Brendan does eventually leave the village, would you want him to be killed off or get a happy ending?
"If I was going to go, I'd want to go out with a bang. I would like it to be epic - as would any actor who has a massive loyalty to his character.

"I absolutely don't want him to leave in a taxi - I won't shoot that scene. If you write me a taxi scene, I'm not shooting it! You have to give justice to the character and the fans who've invested two and a half years of their lives into watching this twitchy fruitcake. God bless them for being so understanding - I really appreciate it."

'Hollyoaks': Rachel Shenton leaving Mitzeee Minniver role

Hollyoaks star Rachel Shenton has announced that she is leaving the soap after more than two years playing Mitzeee Minniver.

The actress's final scenes for the Channel 4 show will air early next year, and viewers will see Carl Costello (Paul Opacic) return as part of her exit storyline.

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/20/300x225/rachel-as-mitzeee-2.jpg

http://i1.cdnds.net/10/26/soaps_hollyoaks_carl_costello.jpg

Carl heads back to the village in 2013, determined to get justice for his son Riley, the love of Mitzeee's life who died after being shot by rogue undercover cop Walker (Neil Newbon).

Deciding that Walker has to pay for killing Riley, Carl ropes Mitzeee into a plan for revenge.

The storyline builds up to Mitzeee appearing on Sky News with Eamonn Holmes as part of Carl's plan, but viewers will have to wait and see what part Eamonn could play in bringing down Walker.

A Hollyoaks statement teased: "Mitzeee and Eamonn's collaboration is a must-see and marks Rachel Shenton's departure from the show. However, it remains to be seen whether Mitzeee will get a happy ending away from Hollyoaks, or if her involvement with Carl has put her life in danger."

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/51/618x609/soaps-hollyoaks-eamonn-holmes-rachel-shenton.jpg

Meanwhile, Shenton commented: "Mitzeee's final week is not to be missed, especially when she finds herself chatting to the fabulous Mr Holmes.

"I've had an amazing two years playing Mitzeee (with three e's). She's been on an incredible journey that's not over yet. It's been an absolute privilege to work with the cast and crew that make Hollyoaks such a special place.

"This has been one of the hardest decisions I've made, but I feel it's time for Mitzeee and myself to move onto pastures new."

Mitzeee's scenes with Eamonn Holmes will air on Thursday, February 14 at 6.30pm on Channel 4.

Gutted that Rachel Shenton has quit her role as Mitzeee:(, although I wish her well in what she does next. I hope Hollyoaks does not kill her off and I am glad Carl is back for her exit and that hopefully there will be justice done at last for Riley's death.

So that will be Brendan and Mitzeee off next year then. Emmett and Rachel are both brilliant actors and it will be a blow for Hollyoaks to lose them, but they have gone on their own accord and I hope Bryan Kirkwood is working hard on bringing replacements in.

Hollyoaks is a show where characters come and go anyway, as they say the show must go on!

'Hollyoaks': Kieron Richardson on Ste, Brendan, Doug outcome and more

Ste Hay's love triangle was finally resolved on Hollyoaks this week as he chose ex-lover Brendan Brady over husband Doug Carter, travelling over to Dublin to reunite with the Irishman.

Yesterday we brought you Emmett Scanlan's thoughts on the 'Stendan' reunion in an in-depth interview, and now we can present a second reaction chat from Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste.

Here, Kieron chats to Digital Spy about Ste's decision, its aftermath and why he wants his character's edgier side to return!

Are you pleased that Ste and Brendan have finally reunited?
"Yeah, I think it's been two years in the making. It's good that we've held off on doing it for so long, because the audience have wanted it since the day they split up. I think if we'd given it to them straight away, there wouldn't have been as much suspense and excitement - and maybe the relationship would have fizzled out last year.

"The two characters needed to be separated for Brendan to go on his journey and for Ste to go on his own journey as well. Brendan needed to deal with his anger issues, while it's also been nice that Ste had the chance to find love with Doug and try taking the 'right' path. But in actual fact, he just needed to follow his heart. Ste did love Doug, but his first and true love is always going to be Brendan."

There's always a big buzz around 'Stendan', but never more so than this week! Are you pleased with the response?
"Definitely - it's just great to be involved in such a big and unusual storyline. It's been a tangled and twisted love story, which shouldn't have happened but then it did. It's a storyline that the audience have really taken to their hearts.

"The response that we get on Twitter is phenomenal, and for me as an actor, I've loved working with Emmett as well. It's been good all round for everybody!"

Did you enjoy the chance to go over to Dublin to film the reunion scenes?
"Yeah, I never really get to go out of the building usually, so it was brilliant! It was also great to have Emmett there as a little Irish tour guide. He had his daughter Kayla with us, too, and she was working behind the scenes. It was really nice to see Emmett as a dad with Kayla, because he's not anything like his character in real life."

Can Ste and Brendan truly be happy in their relationship now?
"Well, I think that's the exciting thing: what happens now? In the past, when Ste and Brendan were secretly together, they were never able to openly and freely love each other in public. Now that two years have passed and Brendan has come out to everybody, it's great that they can be open and free.

"It's going to be interesting to see where the relationship goes now that there's hopefully going to be no secrets. Is it just going to be a love story, or is there going to be more drama down the road? There always seems to be some kind of dark and sinister thing going on with Brendan, so who knows?"

You've had months of people asking you about whether Ste would end up with Doug or Brendan. Is it a relief to have it finally resolved now?
"Yeah, it is. We were told a long time ago that the story was going to pan out to this point, so I always knew it was coming. It was always hard to be asked whether I preferred 'Stug' or 'Stendan', because all three of us had worked hard on the different relationships. You don't want to favour one over the other, as that would feel disrespectful to the work that we'd done, to the fans of the other relationship, and also to the actors involved.

"I've always sat on the fence, because I do think there are pros and cons to both of the relationships. When I was doing interviews, I always knew that 'Stendan' was going to win in the end. So it's been a tough couple of months trying to keep it a secret, and even at this point I still wouldn't say I preferred one or the other. But I know the fans hate that answer!"

Are there any more scenes coming up with Ste and John Paul?
"As it stands at the moment, there's going to be lots of John Paul and the McQueens. There's a lot of years that he's missed, so he's got a lot of catching up to do there. In terms of Ste and John Paul doing things together, I'm not so sure yet. I'd love to work with James, though, as I think he's a great actor."

How involved will Ste be in the storyline with Brendan and his father Seamus?
"Heavily involved, really. Seamus has turned up and it's a question of whether or not Ste lets Brendan keep him a secret. We have to explore that and it's a great story - what would Seamus's reaction be to knowing that Brendan is gay and in a relationship with this little scrawny guy that runs a deli? There's lots of great things to come.

"Brendan has told Ste a little bit about his past, but obviously Ste doesn't watch the Hollyoaks late-night episodes, so he doesn't know anything about the sexual abuse. Ste's had his own turbulent relationship with his stepdad, so he can kind of relate to Brendan because they've had a similar upbringing. Or so Ste thinks, as he still doesn't know the full story.

"If Ste does find that out, I think it would make him feel a lot more pain for Brendan."

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/50/618x411/soaps-hollyoaks-3509-3.jpg

Could Ste stay friends with Doug?
"I don't know - it all depends whether Doug comes back or not! It was quite emotional and fraught when they left each other on screen this week, so if he was to come back, would it be water under the bridge? Or would there still be feelings and emotions there between them?"

This week we saw Ste smashing up a pub with Brendan. Could his bad boy side be making a return?
"I would like that to happen, as I think the character has probably become a bit too good. I'd hate to play him as a bit of a pushover, or too soppy and wet. I don't think you should lose the essence of what the character was when he first came into the show.

"When I read the scene of Ste smashing up the pub, my take on it was that he was in his element - it was taking him back to how he used to be, but in a happy place because he's with the love of his life. They were both doing something they love to do - who wouldn't like to smash a glass or throw tables and chairs at walls?

"I secretly would like the character to go back a bit more to how he used to be, because every storyline that I've done so far has been about love, love, and love. He loved Amy, Doug and Brendan. He loves everyone that he gets with! I'm excited for the future and hopefully some more stuff like that will come out."

What kind of a relationship will Brendan have with Leah and Lucas?
"I think it's going to be confusing for the kids. For the past couple of months, they've had 'Daddy Doug' and the marriage. Now Doug has gone and Brendan is in his shoes, it's quite confusing for the kids, so we have to tell that story as well. Plus, Leah as a character can be quite feisty anyway!"

Do Brendan and Ste move in together?
"It's not actually been said yet. There's some episodes where they're both in Cheryl and Brendan's flat, and some episodes where they're both in the council flat. I think they're both having nights over at each other's houses at the moment."

How are you spending Christmas this year?
"I'm spending it in New York with friends. I've never been before, so I'm quite excited about that. Obviously PJ Brennan is from Brooklyn, so we're going to go to his family house and have Boxing Day dinner there. Then it'll be New Year's Eve in the Big Apple!"

I am actually looking forward to when he goes a bit to see what the show will do to replace him and even though it is a blow to lose such a popular character and actor, there is always new talent out there if the HO casting department get sorted out by Bryan and get casted on acting but not looks.

'Hollyoaks' pair to plan murder in dark storyline

Hollyoaks kicks off 2013 with a dark storyline as Brendan Brady plots for his evil father Seamus to be murdered, Digital Spy can confirm.

Brendan's world has crashed down around him in recent days with his dad back on the scene, and fans will soon see the club owner resort to desperate measures in an attempt to get rid of him.

In scenes airing in the first week of January, Brendan (Emmett Scanlan) asks his protégé Joel Dexter to kill Seamus in exchange for cash.

Joel (Andrew Still) is horrified by the sinister offer and initially refuses, but soon feels forced to go along with the plan when Brendan piles on the pressure.

As the dramatic storyline plays out, Joel attacks Seamus with a baseball bat before dragging him off to a nearby shack.

With Seamus still unconscious, Joel pours petrol around the small building before setting it alight and watching on as it goes up in flames.

Further details about the storyline and the consequences for Joel and Brendan will be kept under wraps until the episodes air in the New Year.

Brendan's hatred and fear of his father dates back many years as Seamus sexually abused him when he was a young child. Viewers discovered this dark secret in the most recent series of Hollyoaks Later.

Fintan McKeown, who has previously appeared in Merlin, Game of Thrones and Star Trek: Voyager, was cast as Seamus earlier this year and made his first appearance in the role on Thursday (December 20).

Hollyoaks airs the shock murder scheme on Thursday, January 3 and Friday, January 4 at 6.30pm on Channel 4.

Sounds exciting...

I have a feeling their plan will fail because I saw a spoiler that says Brendan takes revenge on Joel. It would be a waste to kill of Seamus this early even if he is meant to be an evil character and Fintan McKeown plays him so well.

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/08/300x225/soaps_hollyoaks_nancy_hayton.jpg

Hollyoaks' new mum Nancy Osborne has an eventful fortnight ahead as she features prominently in the soap's Christmas and New Year storylines.

Nancy is delighted to finally have her baby son Oscar home for the first time since his premature birth in October. However, it's not long before she and husband Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) realise that the youngster isn't responding to sounds, which leads them back to the hospital to seek answers.

With Oscar understandably the focus of attention at the moment, Nancy's nephew Charlie starts to feel unwanted. As the situation comes to a head, Charlie runs away and ends up unconscious when he loses his footing out in the woods…

Digital Spy recently caught up with Jessica Fox, who plays Nancy, to hear more about the dramatic events in store.

How do you feel about being so busy on screen at Christmas and New Year?
"It's really exciting. I think everyone wants to be doing the Christmas material, because there's always something really dramatic going on at this time of year. I don't think I've had a Christmas storyline for a while and it's nice that this one is very family-orientated, so hopefully it will go down well with the viewers."

How have the fans responded to the other big storylines you've had this year?
"This year has been absolutely amazing, and I've enjoyed it so much. The material I've had has been wonderful and the response that I've had from viewers has been really overwhelming. People really seem to have supported Nancy and Darren through the build-up to the wedding, the miscarriage and then Oscar's premature birth.

"It's been a big old year. I think the fans want Nancy and Darren's relationship to work out, and for them to have a bit of happiness in the New Year."

The Christmas period starts off on a happy note for Nancy…
"It does, because it's amazing for her to finally have Oscar home. Throughout the time that Oscar has been in hospital, she hasn't really been able to concentrate on too much else, as I'm sure anyone who has a poorly baby in hospital would understand.

"Once Nancy has Oscar home, it seems that everything is coming together and is going to be perfect now. Nancy has got her husband, she's got her child, she's got Charlie and the rest of the family. For a moment it seems like everything is going to fall into place and be wonderful!"

When do the Osbornes realise that Oscar may have a hearing impairment?
"Well, Oscar is crying constantly, nobody is getting any sleep and tensions are running quite high. One day, Nancy has finally got Oscar off to sleep when Darren comes barging in and drops a vase on the floor right next to Oscar's crib, but he doesn't wake up. That's when Nancy and Darren suddenly think, 'Hang on a minute…'.

"When Oscar was born prematurely, Nancy and Darren were told that there could be difficulties with his development, and hearing was one of the things that was mentioned by the doctor. So automatically, alarm bells start going off."

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/50/618x412/soaps-hollyoaks-3504-2.jpg

Had they prepared themselves for this?
"I don't think so - their focus has been on getting Oscar home, and I don't think they've really thought beyond that. When this new issue arises, they're not really sure how to deal with it."

Darren has previously blamed Nancy for the premature birth, so does that issue crop up again?
"Yes, I think the problem of Oscar's premature birth is something that will continue to affect Nancy and Darren. It's not something that Darren can ever quite forgive Nancy for, and it's definitely not something that Nancy will ever forgive herself for.

"When problems like this do arise, all of those old feelings come up again and Darren doesn't know how to deal with it. Nancy desperately wants Darren to say that it's all going to be okay and they'll get through it, but he's not able to do that for her."

One of the sixth formers, Dylan, is a deaf character currently in the village. Could he become involved in the storyline if Oscar does turn out to be deaf?
"It all depends on what the outcome is when Nancy and Darren seek advice at the hospital over Oscar's hearing, but if the storyline does go further, I think it would be a very sweet friendship if Dylan was to come into the fold. Dylan is already friends with Esther, so maybe he could teach Nancy and Darren some sign language if they do find out that Oscar is deaf."

You're close friends with Rachel Shenton (Mitzeee), who does a lot of work with the deaf community. Have you spoken to her about the storyline?
"Yes, we've talked about it quite a lot. She's always teaching me little bits of sign language anyway and if the storyline does go ahead, I'll definitely be asking her for more advice! If it does turn out to be the case that Oscar is deaf, I also think it'd be nice for myself and Ashley to take some classes and actually learn sign language. That would be amazing."

Throughout this period, Charlie is feeling unwanted. Why is that?
"I think when a new baby comes into a family, some of the older children can sometimes feel a bit left out. With everything that's going on in the mad Osborne house, Charlie is almost bottom of the queue because everyone else is demanding so much attention.

"When Charlie does try to get some attention, unfortunately he faces the wrath of Nancy's temper, because she's at the end of her tether and exhausted with so many commitments. Nancy's outburst frightens Charlie and he ends up running away."

Do the Osbornes have any idea where Charlie might be?
"They're clueless to begin with. He leaves a heartbreaking note saying, 'I know you don't want me anymore'. They go rushing off to look for him, and you'll see that Callum Kane ends up having a theory on where he might be. They go looking in the woods for him, but you'll have to wait and see how it turns out…"

We've heard that Frankie is quick to blame Nancy for this situation. How does Nancy react?
"Nobody is harder on Nancy than Nancy herself. When someone like Frankie or Darren says, 'Yes, that is your fault', it makes Nancy feel so much worse, but she also bites back! She can't help herself - she's got a fiery temper and if you push Nancy far enough, she will turn on you. Frankie says that Nancy is a bad mother, but Nancy fires back very strongly.

"You'll see that Darren is actually quite supportive of Nancy in these arguments. It's nice that he's backing her up on this occasion."

As well as drama, Nancy and Darren do comedy really well. Will there be lighter material ahead in 2013?
"We've got a really exciting year coming up. I think and hope that there'll be a lovely mix of both comedy and drama. Sometimes you can have humour even in the most tragic of circumstances, which I think Hollyoaks is very good at. Hopefully that will come through in the New Year with the material that we're working on."

How would the Osbornes feel if they found out about Esther's bullying ordeal?
"I think they'd be absolutely devastated. All of them would feel as if they've let Esther down massively. The guilt will be very hard for them to bear."

Will Nancy's friendship with John Paul be revisited?
"Yes, we've filmed a couple of scenes together so far, which has been lovely. I think they'll have a friendship that will develop. John Paul doesn't really know anybody in the village yet, and I'm one of the few that's left over from when he was here before."

How will you be spending Christmas this year?
"It'll be a family Christmas, so I'll be spending a lot of time with my mum, my dad, my sister, my two grandmothers and all the cats! Hopefully I'll be spending a lot of it in my pyjamas, too!"

'Hollyoaks': Ashley Taylor Dawson talks new Osborne dramas

http://i1.cdnds.net/11/48/M/soaps_hollyoaks_ashley_taylor_dawson.jpg

Hollyoaks' Darren Osborne tries to stay strong amid a turbulent time for his family in the soap's Christmas and New Year episodes.

Darren and his wife Nancy are shocked in the coming days when they realise that their newborn son Oscar may be deaf, and they soon have even more on their minds when little Charlie starts to feel unwanted and runs away.

Yesterday, actress Jessica Fox gave us Nancy's take on the events in store, but Digital Spy also recently caught up with Ashley Taylor Dawson - who plays Darren - to hear the story from his character's point of view. Read on to find out what he had to say!

How do you feel about being so busy on screen at Christmas and New Year?
"It's exciting - every Christmas there's always a big storyline, so it's great to be involved in that this year. For Darren and Nancy, it's a very exciting time at first because they've got baby Oscar back home, but then a few questions start to arise about his hearing.

"There's a scene where they're putting him to bed, a vase smashes and Oscar doesn't wake up. Nancy and Darren are left wondering why and they realise that he could be deaf, as this can sometimes happen with premature babies."

Did you do any research for the storyline or did the writers take care of that side?
"Whenever you take on a storyline like this, you always do research and look into it. Also, I've had a child myself and I know from experience that when you have a baby, you're on edge from day one until they reach the age of 18!

"We've researched a lot of the issues that we've tackled this year, especially the premature birth. We spoke to real-life parents in the same position so that we could understand what they were going through."

What kind of feedback have you seen for Nancy and Darren's big storylines this year?
"The feedback has been amazing and I think we've touched on issues that people can really relate to. Especially the premature birth - I think when you have a baby and something goes wrong, it can just be the worst moment of your life because you're worrying every single day about whether your child is going to survive or not.

"The response has been incredible through Twitter and fanmail. We've heard from genuine people in the same situations who've told us that we're doing it justice. To hear from those people is really flattering and humbling."

How does Darren feel about Oscar possibly being deaf?
"At first, it's just pure confusion about it. Darren also has some scenes where he's singing to Oscar and he wakes up, so he gets it into his head that everything is fine after all.

"If they learn otherwise when they head to the hospital for Oscar's appointment, it's going to be a big knock and a new chapter for Nancy and Darren's lives, where they'll have to learn how to deal with this."

Darren previously blamed Nancy for the premature birth, so does he start getting annoyed with her again?
"Darren took that to such extremes the first time round, but in his heart of hearts, he does think that he was right to say that it was Nancy's fault. She'd been rushing round and causing stress when she'd already had a miscarriage, so Darren genuinely believes that to risk anything in that situation was ridiculous.

"But when Darren thought that he might actually lose his wife and told her that he wanted a divorce, that was the lowest of the low for him. He's definitely learned from that and he realises that they need to move forward as a family to get through these problems. This time around, he wouldn't dare go back to those arguments, it's more how they're going to deal with it."

What's your take on Charlie feeling unwanted?
"I think it's just the fact that he's not getting the attention. This can happen with a lot of families when they have a child and a newborn baby in the house. It's very difficult for a young child to understand that some attention is going to be taken away from them.

"Due to the stress levels of a crying baby, the parents may not even realise that they're not giving the other child enough attention. I think there's a general atmosphere in the Osborne family at the moment where everyone feels really busy. There's so much going on that they're forgetting about Charlie."

Is Darren heavily involved in the search for Charlie when he runs away and ends up in the woods?
"Yeah, I think Darren keeps his head together better than anyone else on this one. He thinks that it's best not to stress and if they all just go out searching it'll be fine, but you'll have to wait and see whether they manage to find him."

How does Darren feel when Frankie blames Nancy for the situation?
"He's absolutely furious. With everything they've been through and the pressures they've been under, he can't believe that Frankie has got the audacity to speak to Nancy like that. Tension is brewing and it kicks off royally at one point!"

Is there any lighter material ahead for Darren and Nancy in 2013?
"I think with Darren and Nancy, the fun thing that we enjoy playing is the simple scenes. There's always a bit of comedy to be found in life itself, or even in an argument. The petty little squabbles can be serious from the inside, but I think for the viewers they can be quite witty and fun. I think it's good to bring light and shade, as otherwise it would be too depressing and dark."

With Rhys dead, would you like Darren to find a new best friend in the village?
"Yeah, it was not only Rhys but Riley as well - it was a double whammy! I think Darren could really do with a bit of male company - someone just to unwind with and talk to when he needs some help. He needs that, as Darren is not the best person to sort himself out."

Dodger's had a few scenes with Darren recently, so maybe he could take on that role?
"Yeah, I think Darren and Dodger have got very close. Darren is a bit too much of a joker for Dodger in some respects though, like when he was treating everything as a joke when Dodger was finding his dad. But then again, if Darren hadn't stuck at it, Dodger wouldn't have resolved that situation.

"I think those two characters have got a lot of respect for each other, but they're too cool to tell each other!"

A few weeks ago, Darren noticed Esther was feeling down but became distracted and didn't pursue it. How would he feel if he knew about the bullying?
"I think Darren has always got the right intentions and normally with these kind of problems, he'd go the wrong way about dealing with them. But with the young kids, he does have a fatherly role.

"There's a few times where Darren tries to help Esther and talk to her, but once again he's distracted by a phone call, or Nancy or the baby. He's always so close to maybe helping out, but he doesn't realise how serious things are with Esther. Her problems completely go under the radar with everyone because they're so busy with their own lives."

Ruby is being really horrible to Esther, but at the same time, she is grieving. Would the Osbornes sympathise with Ruby in that sense or be angry with her?
"I think the initial response would be pure anger. Ruby isn't a blood relative, but she's one of the family now and she's been with the Osbornes for quite a while. To turn against one of your own like that is despicable if you're an Osborne. I think the initial thought will be pure anger and Ruby would have a very hard time getting over it."

How are you spending Christmas this year?
"I'm just looking forward to being with my family and doing absolutely nothing for the first time ever! Normally I want to go out every night and have fun, but this year I just want to chill, see my friends and family, and that'll be enough for me!"

'Hollyoaks' Will Savage to tell 'shocking' lie after affair confession

Hollyoaks character Will Savage will soon confess to his one-night stand with Texas Longford.

Will (James Atherton) is to reveal the affair with brother Dodger's girlfriend Texas (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove) in January, but will tell an elaborate lie in order to win back favour from his family and friends, according to Inside Soap.

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/47/300x225/ho-tx-271112-16.jpg

"Hollyoaks fans will be shocked to the core by Will's behaviour," a soap source said.

"His plan is reckless, and life for Texas may never be the same."

Texas left Chester for America just before Christmas in order to get over the guilt of her one-night stand, and will unexpectedly return in early January.

Savage eventually confesses to the affair publicly during a speech at his father Dirk's engagement party with Myra McQueen.

But surely he would not be allowed to work for a few weeks.

They just doing it because they need him to do what he is doing to Mayra.

I like the character but this has been so unrealistic writing of the character just getting of free because the police believe that Riley killed Lindsey and suddenly be able to work again.

Top it all off I hated when Theresa said she never liked Lindsey anyway.... death is not to be made fun off in a soap... or maybe I am over reacting a tad.

Emmett Scanlan has spoken about Hollyoaks' upcoming murder storyline, saying Brendan's plot to kill his dad is a "necessary evil".

Earlier this month, viewers saw Irish hard man Brendan Brady shocked by the arrival of his father Seamus. Having been abused by his dad when he was younger, Brendan struggles with his presence in the village.

Scanlan told What's On TV that Brendan is driven to desperate measures as he realises the problems Seamus has caused him.

He explained: "[Seamus's arrival] was a punch in the gut! Once Brendan had reunited with Ste in Dublin it felt like an exorcism of his past. You could see him being ready to move on. Seamus in Hollyoaks means Brendan's back to square one.

"[Initially] there's too much fear there for Brendan. He's still scared of the man who raped him as a child. There's also Cheryl to consider. She thinks the sun shines out of Seamus's you-know-what. Her and Brendan's childhoods were vastly different. Brendan doesn't want to ruin his sister's happy memories."

Despite his reservations, Brendan soon concocts a plot to dispatch his father with the help of Joel.

"Seamus kept making all these comments under his breath, like '****!'. He was embedding himself into life in Hollyoaks and Brendan realised just how much he hated this man and how he needed to get him out of the way," Scanlan revealed.

Joel agrees to kill Seamus for his share of the club - £200,000 - and Seamus subsequently goes missing.

While Brendan is ruthless in getting rid of Seamus, Scanlan said that he does not relish the plan.

"It's wrong to say Brendan is ecstatic about getting his father killed. It was a necessary evil," he explained.

"But if Seamus were to survive it would be a total catastrophe for him. God knows what he might do!"

The plot will air early in the new year.

I like Sinead when she is not with Bart or the teens, she is good when with Diane. I like Diane, so it is important Sinead sticks around so she has a reason to be in the show because Alex Fletcher is a good Actress.

Diane gets involved with Seamus, it will be good for her to have her own storyline that does not involve Sinead or the teens.

Former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook has signed up for a role on Hollyoaks, Digital Spy can confirm.

The actress, best known for playing Walford's Sam Mitchell, will feature in an upcoming storyline with the Channel 4 soap's McQueen family.

Westbrook's character Trudy will be seen on screen from February when she hires cash-strapped Jacqui (Claire Cooper) and Theresa (Jorgie Porter) as cleaners.

While exact details of the subsequent story have yet to be disclosed, viewers will see that Trudy shares a history with Jacqui as the characters were previously in prison together.

Westbrook is already friends with Hollyoaks co-star Kieron Richardson (Ste Hay) after they both competed on the 2010 series of ITV1's Dancing on Ice.

Hollyoaks' Will Savage (James Atherton) will be hospitalised following a fall, after admitting to a one-night stand with his brother's girlfriend.

It will be unclear whether Will was pushed or whether he fell in the new plotline, Soaplife reports.

Will reveals that he had a one-night stand with Texas Longford (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove), the girlfriend of his brother Dodger, at Dirk's engagement party at the Chez Chez club.

Shortly after his confession, he ends up unconscious following a fall from the stairs leading out of the village's club.

Will is rushed to hospital following the fall, and it's a close call as to whether he'll be okay or not.

It was recently reported that Will is set to tell a 'shocking lie' after confessing to the affair with Texas, in order to get back in favour with his family and friends.

"Hollyoaks fans will be shocked to the core by Will's behaviour," a soap source said.

"His plan is reckless, and life for Texas may never be the same."

'Hollyoaks' Nikki Sanderson: 'Maxine should settle with someone'

Hollyoaks star Nikki Sanderson has said that she wants her character Maxine Minniver to find a boyfriend this year.

Maxine has shown her flirtatious side since joining the village in November, but she is yet to have a serious relationship.

Sanderson told What's On TV: "That'd be nice for Maxine, to meet somebody. So we'll just have to see what the New Year brings.

"Hopefully Maxine will find somebody nice to settle with, but I don't know if someone would want her. I don't know if anyone could put up with her!"

The 28-year-old also revealed that she has made several New Year's resolutions for 2013.

She explained: "I've got a million New Year's resolutions. There are loads. There are so many things that I need to get sorted and done.

"But I need to be more organised. Sometimes people tell me something and it goes in one ear and out the other."

Ruby is so annoying, hope Jack and Frankie chuck her out when they find out what has been happening to Esther.

Go Darren ranting to Jack about what Frankie said to Nancy. Frankie needs to take a look at herself and evaluate her own behaviour first.

Seamus is so creepy!

Nice JP and Frankie scene:).

Cheryl is so easy to manipulate. Seamus must be loving it, but she is trying to create a happy family and is unaware of all these dark secrets between her father and brother.

I am glad that Esther has someone on her side over the bullying and is lovely to her aka Mitzeee:).

Brendan being called a ''******'' by Seamus was nasty. Brendan's ultimatum to Joel at the end about his father, ooh:p.

I can kinda understand Ruby, she just lost the guy she loved so she taking all her anger out on Esther. She was definitely starting to feel bad and not wanting to bully Esther anymore before the crash, but Jono dying just pushed her. Once she gets over her grief of losing Jono she might turn out okay. I mean Steph was a ****ing monster to Lisa before she got attack but she manage to become nicer.

Seamus calling Brendan ''Brenda'' actually makes me laugh tbh. Fintan McKeown is so good at playing his chilling character and works so well on screen with Emmett J Scanlan.

Ruby is annoying me now and I can't wait for everyone to find out about what Esther has been going through soon.

I like how Maxine and Mitzeee have taken Esther under her wing...
