I am loving it. I enjoyed Bianca's presence on BOTS that time she was on and I really liked Adore and was sad to see her leave so early in All Stars, so I wanted to see her in a setting where she wasn't a whiny, miserable cow and actually does well <3.

I thought the HIV episode was sweet and the queens were mainly enjoyable (sorry Rebecca Glasscock) but since so few people watched it first time around, it's had a minimal impact on the show today compared to future seasons and that's why it's probably the most skippable to a first time viewer (not to mention it's the toughest to find). The final two lip sync might be favourite one of all, though, so, there's that?

AS2 has the best challenges and most talented performances in all of Drag Race but the lack of anything interesting happen and the rigging kinda pushes it down a bit

3 (pros: MacArthur Park [which I still don't think was as one-sided as history remembers it but that's for another ranking], Straight Up / cons: the words "drag is not a contact sport" come to mind)
8 ("IIIIIII'M NOT GOING" *beads go everywhere, nearly killing Thorgy Thor in the process* is iconic. Props for actually doing a good lip sync to a Blondie song for once, too)

7 (containing some great lip syncs [Twist of Fate, Break Free, LOVERGIRL], but also containing the Pearl Smash. Swings and roundabouts)

I would venture that AS2 has been the worst for lipsyncs :shrug: just for obvious reasons of it not being that urgent for the queens really. I didn't even rate Tati/Alyssa that highly.

I think AS2's have been good from a technical point of view (is that even a thing when it concerns drag queens miming to pop songs? idk) but they're missing any sort of urgency or tension. Thinking about it, I'd probably put them beneath 7 and maybe 4's because I'm easily influenced like that

every season now is getting absolutely ruined by people being butthurt over absolutely nothing

alaska and detox have been brilliant competitors throughout the whole season and have just as varied and entertaining personalities as Katya. I could say Katya's a bit one-note lately with her heavy handed "hey guys I have anxiety did I say?" all over the place and the relying on the Russian shtick (idk why she does it so much when she's sf funny without it anyway?) or the 40993 fan-THWAAAAACKs on UNHhhh. But I wouldn't really hold it against her because she's an amazing competitor, and so are the other...uh...two :unsure: (I would argue my case for Roxxxy but really who would listen?) (No but she's really only full-on SUCKED at the Snatch Game. Everything else has been perfectly passable. Her advert was funny. Her grandma's makeover was lovely and had the added challenge of being 30+ years older than everyone else (and if it was just a bottom two then it would've 100% been Alaska and Alyssa). Her acting challenge was fine. And for a non-comedienne without the crutch of a partner she was a perfectly serviceable MC. But yes I admit these are all "she's alright"s rather than "she's amazing and deserves to be in the final"s.)

also i'm sorry but i'm not going to hop aboard the "wow alyssa wow tatianna" train. Tatianna really hasn't been THAT amazing. It's funny that both she and Roxxxy peaked in episode 1 but the reactions to both are so vastly different. And Alyssa is too ****ing weird to ever make a final of this show.

I generally hold the attitude that it's only really OK to be mean/hate on the queens that have expressed themselves to be unpleasant and hateful people. Coco 100% falls into that category. Under the new format, she was ultimately pointless and shouldn't have been cast.

The problem here is Alaska did do statistically the best, but her edit is nowhere near the winners edit, it's quite opposite, so unless they are changing something this season, it's pretty strange.

Yeah I've no idea what the editors are trying to do really. Including that rant/breakdown/whatever you want to call it that she had in mini-Untucked was basically a K.O. blow. But then it's obviously her own doing as well since she's said some really arrogant things. It just doesn't tie in with the judges lauding everything she does, though, and even when she was the weakest this week she didn't get that harsh critiques from the judges.

I just hope this format is a one-series-only sort of deal, don't think I could cope with S9 being the same :laugh: if only for the "lipsync for your life" rather than legacy feature.

Then the bottom 2 lipsync for their life

Finished S8 now. I'd say RPDR is definitely in a decline now, this season was better than 7 but still poor compared to 2,3,4,5 and 6 for me. Having said that I ADORED Bob soooo much. Absolutely thrilled that he won, he delivered every challenge. I think I've completed all series now (I haven't seen S1 but it looks sooooo bad I don't think I'll bother)
