Well, I was going to mention the minor (and I do mean minor) ****storm whipped up by Jaymes performing The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun at the premiere, but, uh... way to go Venus, now I don't need to!

The last I heard of her, she was going through Facebook pestering each and every person who left a negative comment about her to explain themselves, before Nikki Blonsky'ing her way into all sorts of different conversations just to try and keep her name out there. Which is sad and hilarious in equal measure?

yeah I'm glad the Jaymes thing didn't get too out of hand because it's - apparently - a standard among the campy comedy queens to perform. And the performance really was quite fun and unique, and I do think she's being written off (perhaps unfairly, perhaps she will be the first boot :laugh:)...

It was so short and we didn't get to know any of the queens properly, some of them got literally no airtime bar the runway, AND no lipsync wtf is that about?? The first episode needs to be 90 minutes long like past seasons

However, I loved the Gaga runway and very happy that Nina won, and I loved the dramatic return though I wish it didn't leak like 4 months ago

Yeah, it was a bit of a pointless episode considering there was no lip sync, nor did we really get to see any of the queens' talents other than the fashion they'd already brought, but that aside it was a fun start and it's nice that we've got longer than just one episode to get to know them. This season looks promising!

I don't really see the point in bringing Cynthia back tbh. She didn't really have much else to offer and it's not like her elimination was unjustified. She's just got a really likeable personality which isn't that important

This was a good episode, I feel like there could definitely be some big blow ups between the queens. So is Ru really ditching his drag all throughout the season? I know he can't be arsed sitting in the makeup chair but he literally has a dress and wig waiting and a makeup artist.

Is it really Cynthia that's back? I really hope it is because I LOVED her but the neck of the queen looks black.

I liked the episode because it didn't enforce contrived story-lines/feuds so soon (apart from Eureka/Trinity).

It did feel a bit flat, but I think once all of the queens are together (with Cynthia :p) it will pick up energy. It did feel quite weird to not have a lip-sync.

My favourites so far are: Aja (even though her make-up is bad (but that's probably due to her bad skin, bless), Charlie, Jaymes (ironically), Nina and Shea. I really liked Sasha's and Valentina's runway looks, but I'm not sold on their personalities yet. Sasha's entrance was irritating and too much].

I'm surprised you found Season 8 disappointing, I thought it was really refreshing and fun to watch, and I really loved all of the final 4 :love:

I think it was refreshing in terms of exceeding its successor, but the storylines didn't really appeal to me and I still didn't get the same vibe as per other seasons.

It's a shame because I really liked a lot of the girls and their drag (Bob, Naomi, Kim (although I do find her overrated and a little try-hard personality-wise), Thorgy, Robbie and Acid Betty). However, I somewhat feel that the show limited most of their capabilities.

Also, the drama was probably the most contrived of any season yet. The whole 'New York triangle' was weird because I didn't understand what it was going to amount to and it felt like an anti-climax in general, plus the Derrick/Naomi feud towards the end was really clutching at straws.

My opinion might change if I ever get round to binge-watching it again though. My thoughts on seasons 1-6 may be different because I didn't watch them seem to week as it aired.

Again, I was kinda dissappointed by this weeks episode
The challange in comparison to past 2nd challenges was kind meh, like Glamazonian Airways & Bitch Perfect were so much better

The win was well deserved Valentina was best both in the challange and on the runway
I did agree with the bottom 2 and the lipsync was **** but I'm so sad to see Jaymes go she was my Fave and I love an underdog

Overall probably worse than last week but it's still not that bad

I loved Peppermint's backstory, and Cynthia talking about being in remission <3

I thought the episode was okay. I tend to think that Ru has an agenda when it comes to these sorts of challenges, as with Glamazonian Airways and Bitch Perfect; the performance just ends up being a blur, and the decisions on who's top and bottom seem to be quite random. I definitely get why Valentina won though, and the bottom 2 was justified.

I thought Kimora was going to leave over Jaymes, and that they'd prolong his underdog arc by having him win at least one challenge before sending him home. I would've preferred Jaymes to stay over Kimora too. The lip-sync was pretty shoddy though.

Okay so Cynthia returning is EVERYTHING. She kills me and her schtick neevr gets old. I'm so glad she was brought back, even though her runway wasn't amazing.

I'm happy Valentina won the challenge, her wedding dress was GORGEOUS :love: I definitely think she will be top 4 or 3 just because I feel like throughout the season the other Queens will pick on her for only being a queen for 10 months but yet still slaying the game.

That Lip Sync was an embarrassment, but the right decision was made. I don't like Kimora, but I feel Jaymes' problem was that he wasn't being himself but playing a character whereas I feel like the other queens are being themselves.

That was probably the most predictable first boot ever but I'm not TOO sad about it although I'd have preferred Kimora to go tbh.

I thought the episode was okay. I'm happy Cynthia's back and a few more queens have grown on me. I wasn't keen on the task though.

I'd say my current favourites are Cynthia (OBVI), Valentina, Nina and Peppermint. I'm liking Eureka a lot more this episode too.

Episode 3 Initial thoughts

Definitely the best episode of the season so far for me. Despite it being a sewing challange we got to see a lot more of the queens personalities during the work room.

I wasn't 100% sold on the judges decisions, like Farrah being better than Aja and Kimora (I didn't think Kimora done that bad at all, she looked better than about 4/5 other girls.
Well deserved win for Trinity I can't believe how well she's doing I had her down as a first boot

Much better lipsync this week and the right choice was made. Kimora won't be missed

I did a complete 180 on Kimora from last week - "what is an adjetive?" and "Princess Banana Lady" were enough for me. What a wonderful hot mess :love: But then again, Aja completely killed that lip sync (come thru Bonnie Tyler!) and I'm glad she stayed. Farrah probably should have been in the bottom, but I also like her (I mean, she calls plug sockets "electricity holes" for god's sake) so I'd have been disappointed if she went

Not nearly enough Nina Bo'nina Brown but other than that, all good!

Definitley an improvement on the last two episodes. The sewing challenges are normally my favourite and this one didn't disappoint. Valentina coming through again :love: she's still my favourite closely followed by Cynthia. Can't say I'll miss Kimora she was nowhere near polished enough to make it far into the competition. Judging just by edit etc. I can picture Valentina/Cynthia/Eureka/Trinity all making it very far.

Sidenotes:

- The first two challenges SUCKED. Cheerleading - whilst acrobatically impressive - is just impossible to hear and follow.
- I liked Gaga's masterclass in Untucked but would've liked her to stand up more for Jaymes, who was visibly intimidated.
- Jaymes is the most uncomfortable first elimination yet I think - the others have been more understandable but I can't see how Kimora won that lipsync. Feel that Jaymes was better in the runway (but perhaps worse in the challenge), though.
- The white runway may be the best collective runway of all time? That collection of looks, for what is effectively a "week one runway", is insane. Trinity's, Eureka's, Valentina's, Charlie's, Nina's, Shea's and Cynthia's looks were all stunning. Especially fond of Shea's Avengers outfit.

In all: I'm really liking this cast and think it's the strongest since S6, but hopefully the challenges step up to match them.

I love sewing challenges :love: The distribution between workroom scenes and runway/judges critiques is perfect. My god, the sidekick element was a bit cringeworthy though. It ruined the concept of the challenge, imo.

On the other hand, the queens discussing the Pulse shooting has probably become one of my favourite moments of all seasons. It was lovely to see them all unite, as oppose to prolong contrived feuds. My heart broke hearing Cynthia and Trinity's stories about the people they knew who had died.

Makeover Challenge (usually good for a bit of drama if it's someone who's visibly uncomfortable with drag queens <3 poor joslyn <3)
Other kind of physical challenges (I'd chuck a few into this bracket: S2's poledancing, S9's cheerleading, S3's aerobics video, S4's wrestlers - they can be good but are often a hot mess)
Snatch Game (they've steadily declined in quality, and they tend to get terrible guests for it now. #NeverForgetGigiandChanel #OrAtLeastTry #TalentlessBores)
Acting challenge (can't recall a good one... S5's telenovelas were only good in a cringe way, S4's Prison sitcom was unintentionally hilarious because of Madame Laqueer and Kenya I KINDAAAAAALIKETHESMELL but otherwise they're usually too cheesy and obvious. S6's Drag Race Me To Hells were fun I guess.)

I thought that she had the best overall performance in the task but I thought Peppermint's look was better. I'm not sure if I'd have put Valentina in the Top 3 either.

I want to like Alexis but her bald spot bothers me so much and I find her fringe upsetting.

And I can't help but think the fact they've changed all of the crew in Untucked for more attractive ones is a change that wasn't a coincidence. God this network's insistence upon everyone being either attractive, or dated comedy, is depressing. I don't know if I can bear another RuPaul-introducing-the-judges moment.

I've finished my re-watch of S7. It's quite beige in contrast to other seasons, but it's fairly enjoyable nonetheless. The cast never resonated with me in general, but I think that's as a result of the contrived story-lines and abundance of acting challenges that prevented some queens from exhibiting their full-potential. Also, the fact that Pearl made it to the final three to appease the teen-audience is tragic enough to label it the worst season.

Cast ranking:

Katya (lovable, relatable, etc. deserves all the love in the world)
Jasmine (made the first three episodes special)
Max (weird edit but I want to give her the benefit of the doubt since I found her to be genuinely lovely and helpful. adored her drag aesthetic too)
(tbh, the positions from this point aren't set, they could be different depending on my mood/what day it is)
Violet (appreciated her edit and win much more the second time around)
Fame (warmed to her towards the end, but found her involvement in story-lines unnecessary...no-one remembers her random conflicts with Pearl and Violet)
Ginger (she's obviously super-talented, but I find her so/so as a person. I didn't like her tirade towards Violet in the penultimate episode)
Kennedy (funny at times, but essentially average. her drag isn't my cup of tea, though i didn't dislike her as much as I did watching it live)
Sasha (she thought she'd cracked the code, she misunderstood the assignment, and was sent home the following week because she didn't unclasp her wig properly. kudos for choosing Pearl as least impressive during first-week critiques)
Tempest (seemed lovely, it's hard to tell whether you like someone based on one episode. especially S7's premiere episode because so much was crammed in)
Trixie (I LOVE Trixie, but she was underwhelming on re-watch. I'm glad she has been so successful post-show because I still do love her. her drag aesthetic is still one of my favourites of all-time, but she just didn't appeal this time around)
Kasha (another one I love, but didn't connect with as much. she was criminally under-edited though so that's probably the main reason. it must be ****ty to wait seven years to finally live out your dream and then be portrayed as a mere afterthought)
Jaidynn (nice but can't say much else. However, I did love "I'm not the one to make excuses but I did have surgery on my knee three months ago"
Kandy (went through phases of being unlikable, to not being shown at all. I did feel that the judges were quite harsh to her at times though)
Pearl (ungrateful, bratty, etc. Has absolutely no charm and was undeserving to make it so far. Ru should have cut her in the workroom during their confrontation in the DESPY Awards ep...would've livened up the season and gave the season its shining moment)

That lip sync felt so odd to watch lmao

I found it uncomfortable to watch as I was looking at Charlie the whole time waiting for her to do something and I didn't really pay much attention to Trinity.

That episode was really good I thought. I think this season is picking up momentum and getting on track to be good after the first two disappointing episodes. Charlie is no loss at all, that lip sync has to go down as one of the funniest of all time. Trinity gave it her ALL while Charlie just stood there pointing.

Finally, getting some faves now too and forming opinions on the queens. Cynthia, Nina and Valentina are my favourites at the moment and I can't ABIDE Eureka and Aja.

I think Farrah is my least favourite. I hate that it seems like she's going to stay around for a while, since she's a pretty queen that appeals to the younger fans of the show.
