I finally came around to watch season 9 after months of nothing watching it :skull: so i may need to re-watch some of the others. I did enjoy this season tbh and from what i remember it was better than 7 and 8 but i didn't like the final lip sync showdown at the end and i feel rupaul chose wrong twice, i felt Trinity was better than Peppermint and i felt Peppermint was better than Sasha. overall Trinity was robbed! I really hope they don't do this again on the final :skull:

Never really got the Aja hype, tbh. I think a lot of it was built up pre-season when she was constantly compared to Naomi and presented as a credible threat to go far. She kind of defined mediocrity during S9 and the main reason she came back for AS3 (where she was only a bit better) was due to her Linda Evangelista rant and criticism of Valentina winning Miss Congeniality at the reunion.

This is probably unpopular but none of her runways were All-Star ready. I understand this is probably because of the time period between S9 and AS3, but I'd have to judge her fairly based on choosing to go back so soon. Ironically, I think she looked the best in the garment she made for the episode she went home in.

In terms of the challenges: yes, the talent show was justified, though the performance itself wasn't really my cup of tea because I do tire of splits and jumps and all that jazz. Her Amy was okay but didn't stand-out (Ms Disastuh was also not a glow-up, imo. Well, It was a glow-up because of how bad the original was, but still executed badly and I think people wanted to love it because of the backstory.). I'm drawing a blank with The Bitchelor because I can't remember her character. Snatch Game is always hard because I rarely find any of them funny. Yeah, her elimination was bull****, but I wasn't mad about it based on how I felt towards her up to that point. Though, I do understand why she felt like she was never going to win.

Also, I think for a queen who said that her duty for All-Stars 3 was to make herself a marketable and meme-worthy Queen, she was just kinda a side-note. I compare her to Monet in that there's big following behind her but I'm just not one of the people in that following. I'm sure she's nice and all, but if we're on a discussion forum I'm not gonna lie about my opinion just to sweeten the perspectives of other forum members. Disrespectful or not.

Her flowers runway and her wigs on wigs runway were gorgeous though (well in my personal opinion, like you say I suppose it’s down to taste) but I thought she had a better runway collection than well... all the other queens on the series tbh

I think Wigs on Wigs was really overrated because I didn't think the bodysuit suited (lmao) her and the bows looked really clunky and didn't flatter her. The only wig I liked was the pink one, which was really, really nice on her. The others, not so much. I liked the direction she took with it, being an Animé fan but wasn't fond of the execution.

Honestly, I had to remind myself what the Flowers one looked like because I didn't find that particularly memorable compared to some of the amazing runway looks there have been on All-Star seasons. It's definitely pretty, though. Probably better than her Andy Warhol look, actually.

In fact, the runway looks on AS3 can't hold a candle to the looks on AS2 or AS4 (so far). I personally think Trixie had the strongest looks that season and no-one else really came close.

It's probably false but I'd happily welcome him back.

He was heavily critical and at least seemed to show an interest in the fashion of their runway looks, even if I didn't always agree with him. The show needs some more harshness and realism and less of Carson's "I'm an old queer with zero knowledge of anything after 2001; here's the same 5 obvious jokes every time I'm on" or Ross' saccharine niceness.

The feuds with Michelle were great, too, and idk I just find him more interesting a presence than Carson/Ross (ESPECIALLY Carson, who needs to permanently go). Ross is fine every now and then, and at least seems to genuinely care about the queens / has a good critical eye for their performances.

Yeah I read the google doc last night, it's just pretty horrific really. I know a lot of it can be passed off as shock humour, and I understand why people just stick to "shock humour" but it also really isn't a defense and it gets old real quick if it's all you rely on.

I am of the opinion that children and teenagers shouldn't be allowed at drag shows, or events like this. I just don't agree with it at all, and that's without the extreme circumstances around this fan. I think teenagers especially are just way too emotionally invested in queens (because they're completely liberated of societal norms I guess, and living out every adolescent "**** authority!!!" dream) and spend wayyyyy too much time worshiping them on Twitter, getting into fights over them like they're Pokemon cards, and just creating this very immature tribal element to the Drag Race community.

I think whatever mental health issues this person was going through were amplified by attention from a "celebrity", and that's wrong from both Sharon's and the kid's parents' perspectives. The examples of being made fun of, "encouraged" to "cut deeper" etc, joke or not, are just... disgusting and a blight on the Drag Race name, sadly.

It's too easy to say "no more kids at drag shows" and just blame that connection when the queens are clearly to blame for their actions, but I do think that still needs to happen before something even worse happens and the entire drag community becomes vilified.

...yeah I agree with everything you’ve said and most definitely, there are some aspects which are disturbing because of her age ...but it’s also that her vulnerability, her own emotional insecurities/issues etc..could have equally been applied to someone older, that the influences could have been the same...because it was a control that the drag queen seemed to feel over her..?...personally I don’t know anything about the queens beyond the show because I do t really follow any ‘celebrity’ so I’m not aware of any Sharon Needles dramas...but the small group of queens and underage fans, is quite a disturbing aspect also...
