Finally finished the BB17 launch and it was..... kinda run of the mill and pedestrian and boring? It was very much like "This is a launch night of Big Brother" and "these are Big Brother Housemates" and "this is a nominations twist on launch night" and there was no substance to it at all. The only good moments were...

1) Big Brother forgetting to tell Charlie to take off her mask
2) Evelyn telling Emma that production accidentally gave her her nametag
3) The Others being so ****ing thick that they couldn't figure out what they were doing when they had to target a HM based off of the character trait they chose. I know he sucks but I felt so bad for Andrew being in that room with imbeciles

Just watched the stupid fake eviction/house swap/live episode and it was a complete mess from production. Ryan is sooooooo deficient mentally it's not even funny, and Andrew is just so smarmy and falsely convinced of his own intelligence. This interaction made me scream...

The other big thing of this episode was "my mom has a black carer" -gate and jeeeeez what a ****ing mess. I feel bad for Natalie because she's totally valid in her feelings, but of course she expressed herself in the worst way possible. Jayne, I don't think she's racist but she's just kinda dumb and came off teeeeerribly with "my parents are Irish immigrants" and "Nigerian carers are AMAZING, it's not a cultural thing" and "my mom has a black carer! I have a black carer!" and literally saying "the black word" like yiiiiikes it was such a crash course on how to be as racially insensitive as possible. Like her point was something along the lines of "we were talking about how horrible racism is and I was defending black people by talking about how my mom got slapped by her black carer" ?!?!?! I think it speaks for itself.

Andrew is soooo insufferable I can't handle his self-congratulatory end of episode DRs about how he's playing this game SO WELL and he executed his mission ALMOST TOO FLAWLESSLY because there was a MASS EXODUS that had nothing to do with him. He and Ryan are both ****ing knobs and I HATE THEM. That being said, it was a fun episode bc the regular HMs all rallied up to railroad the **** out of both of them. My two favorite quotes...

Something I really dislike about the BB4 cast is that nearly all of them are secretly pretty mean-spirited and vindictive people but are sugar-coating themselves, but their karma is Federico actually being himself and always ****ing things up completely by accident, especially the task by struggling to get on his superhero outfit he was meant to do despite already putting it on hours ago :joker:.

That sullen fake as **** faker Cameron looked absolutely mortified at Federico's failure and it was so satisfying :clap1:.

Confession; BB4 would've had potential to be a solid series if they hadn't pulled this bullshit twist of making this week's eviction a double and putting the three or more housemates with the most votes up instead of two or more. I'd like to believe it was done as a last ditch effort to keep Federico or Jon around but that would've happened anyway if both were inevitably up head-to-head this week. There was no reason to do a random double eviction here and it leaves me with all the lesser people who weren't talked about nearly as much by the viewers as Federico or Jon were.

If they just did it normally, they could afford sacrificing Federico if they had to as Jon would still be around. I actually think he'd have won BB4 if they stuck to regular nominations as he'd be up every week but there's no way I see him going over Tânia, Gos(?), Lisa or Nush, and surviving that many evictions would've built him up a huge fanbase to become a proper BB classic and certainly get more votes to win than inexplicable champion Cameron.

Instead, it's a pointless double eviction likely done in some convoluted way to try and keep Federico AND Jon somehow but it backfiring and causing BOTH to be evicted. It's like Channel 5 before Channel 5.

Federico DR: Because Jon offers something extremely different to the house, he gets up for nomination every week, and that's disgusting, but one amazing thing is that Jon doesn't care, because... he's probably the same as me, you look around, I can't speak for Jon actually, from my point of view, me, does it really matter what these people think about you, you know? I would definitely say those people that are fire-proof, I really don't wanna go round the house with this 'Love me love me please love me' because... it looks contrived, you know? Finished Day 8 and it's strange to think about the fact that I'm already almost 20% done with the series :skull: not mad about it really but it's just strange.

Anyway, it was a good episode! I don't have a lot to say rn bc it's 5 AM and it's wayyyyyyyyyyy past my bedtime and I got sucked into BBUS feeds for a few hours bc of a potential house flip. Just want to say that I am loooooving Laura's continued realization that even though she ****ed up big time, Marco is a huge piece of **** who is probably lying about having an open relationship and it's not fair that she'll get all the heat for it when he's the one in the relationship. We love a complex homewrecker :love: also am intrigued with the whole Jayne/Chelsea thing because even though we found out more, there are still a lot of allusions to stuff that they won't talk about on air and we're probably never gonna know The Full Truth. Felt bad for Jayne when she cried in the DR about how she's always second best and she's only in the house bc of Chelsea :(

Andrew (a sociopathic CREEP who would literally only talk about The Game and use big words to sound intelligent even though he couldn't execute anything from his ~mastermind gameplan~ and then proved himself to be a laughably terrible person outside of the game, goodbye)

This week was okay! Production was a hot mess with terrible twists and TERRIBLE live shows and live from the houses, and the cast took a while to pop but things are finally starting to come together? I do think that The Others (TM) twist is being dragged out way too long but the end is in sight and I can't wait for Charlie and Jason to finally reunite and for Charlie to find out where she stands :love: I don't know, it was a standard first week for C5 BB and I don't really have much else to say :shrug:

I know Gos was one of the most boring and forgettable housemates ever but I have to find it funny that his lack of content pissed off enough people for him to get more votes to evict than NUSH and RAY who are also inoffensive but by BB4 standards are two of the more offensive people :joker:. His eviction also didn't happen till a day after based on a false bomb scare so he floated around for an extra day :joker:. Getting 46% of the vote out of three people despite doing **** all :joker:. But he was still an unremarkable background feature for SIX WEEKS! :skull:

Torn between restarting my abandoned BB6 rewatch from Day 1 or watching BB South Africa which I've never seen before but is apparently pretty good!

Lisa DR: They have gotta be singly, the most unconversationalist people and quite boring I've ever met in my entire life! Scott, would rather I wasn't here, I will argue that til I go to my grave, that man does not want me in this house, it's simple as that, I've upset the apple cart as far as he's concerned. Cameron's made me feel very welcome, absolute gentleman, as good as gold, quite a good conversationalist on a 1-to-1 basis, put him in a group he changes quite a BIT... Nush speaks to me now when she feels like it, if she's not being... entertained by the boys, umm... whatever. Steph... lovely girl... can't really suss her out I think she's very CRAFTY and can be quite BITCHY and I think yeah, Steph is another one who would rather I wasn't here. Ray, can't make up my mind, sometimes he's okay, sometimes he's not. But like I said on an individual basis they're okay, put them as a group, they make it very clear it would be better if I wasn't in the house and to be honest with you I don't give a SHHIT what they think cause at the end of the day I've been put in here and I've been chosen to be in here, but I can honestly say Big Brother if you put somebody in a lot younger and who wasn't very strong, I don't think they would've lasted 48 hours because I think those people out there are sheep in wolves clothing, they come across as being very nice to your face, and on an individual 1-to-1 when you're talking to them, but as a group they can be quite spiteful. I would love to stay one more--AT LEAST one more week, so I know what it's like to do a task and I know what it's like to nominate and get my OWN back on some of them, perhaps that sounds a bit childish but this is what the name of the game is, what it's all about! :smug: Nominations, and I can't state to you enough Big Brother, that on they're own they are lovely people, I like them all, but put them altogether in a group and they're like a pack of lions and hyenas, they're not very nice... but I'll get through it! :shocked:

BB4 is a mind-numbing slog of tedious boredom of a bunch of cliquey people with their own agenda and who celebrate how boring they all are together. How satisfying is it then, that Lisa arrives and FIGHTS with all the housemates at once! (excluding Cameron who continuously isn't invited by BB to any parties<333).

As bad as this series is, its crowning moment has definitely occurred for me now. Lisa's been the usual newbie shunted out by the group, worsened by the fact nobody in the house is a particularly nice person, and after getting drunk on lager at a party, she has now taken them ALL on about how outcasted she's felt by them :clap1:. And she's demonstrably correct; she's an eccentric lovely lady who's been given a shitty hand off everyone and does nothing but try and lighten the atmosphere. But when all that's rejected, your only great option is to lash out a drunken yet articulate decimation of the transparent phonies not giving you a chance :clap1:.

I could listen to her "BELIEVE YOU ME" interruptions while lecturing people on how cliquey and mean they are on loop as well :love:.

The producers realizing how AWFUL and series ruining the Jon/Federico double is so they can try and rectify it by having a public vote for which housemate should randomly be a guest for the last two weeks, knowing how full well how boring all the post-Lisa housemates are :joker:. I would not be surprised at all if they did this to try and make up for the fact they were losing the most entertaining post-Jon/Fed housemate.

Just when I was tolerating Ray for how he humiliated Steph, I see a montage of what Jon's return in the house has been during this eviction show and I never noticed there being a moment where Jon's underpants he's wearing are pulled down by Ray while Jon's back is turned, Jon only just about managing to pull them up on time :umm2:. An action like that caused Jeremy Jackson to be removed but Ray did not even get a warning for nearly exposing Jon like that :fist:.

Davina's opinions on housemates are so inconsistent. One moment I'm loving how she grills or praises a housemate I hate or love, but then she also sometimes justifies people not deserving of it. Nush has been shown several clips relating to her, such as nominations for her and a montage of Nush interrupting people (:joker:), but throughout them there's a bunch of awful Steph lines that show the kind of bitter individual she is, the one offending Nush most being the terrible Steph DR "I think she [Nush] wants all the limelight to be on her! :nono:" and then Davina explained that Steph felt undermined by Nush's mere presence as a DEFENSE of Steph! :umm2: She was a sour jealous twit to Nush for no reason is the easier way to explain it!

BB: The first topic is gay rights. Do you think gay couples should be allowed to marry and share equal rights with heterosexual couples.

Those 10/20 second pause interludes I mention are only based on the length it's shown. It's quite clear it took him way longer to answer the question due to how fake and audience pleasing he makes himself out to be, but then decides to stick by a regiment that's already been called out as old-fashioned by this point (Brian Dowling got more votes to win BB than Tony Blair did to become PM only two years piror), but then he gets stuck cause he realizes how intolerant and homophobic he is and tries scrambling through it like an utter, utter pussy. I'll reiterate the point; how did this loathsome assclown win the show??? :mad:

And the fact that on the second day alone, the first proper fight was a full-on verbally aggressive one between Kemal and Science about the food rationing that would become a consistent type of argument throughout the series, Science later trying to make amends with Kemal only to argue with him again (and with the camera) :laugh:, and then later that night they make friendly amends with the banter "I'M S-C-I-E-N-C-E, ya PRICK!"/"WHAT DOES THAT MEAN, I'M A-B-C-D-E-F-G!"

What I will shorten it to is that it IS as boring as everyone says, but it almost mightn't have been that way. Making the week 4 eviction be a double and getting rid of the two biggest characters at that point in Federico/Jon was a huge misstep, and Lisa's entrance could've been lengthened much better had Ray not ruined all of that so really any time it looked like BB4 was about to get remotely enjoyable it shot itself in the foot. Admittedly, half of the cast I'd say are actually quite solid housemates, but the other half range from uninteresting to hugely irritating. I'm not sure if it's my least favorite cast as there's other series where I liked even less people, but it's for sure down there and as an actual series, could be my least favorite so far? 12, 15, 16 and 19 I found all quite bad but had some notably entertaining moments as well compared to how BB4 lacks in that department so it could be my least favorite civilian series by default if I evaluated them.

All that's left for me now is BB1 and BB2, and I need to rewatch BB11 as my memory on that series is a little foggy in spite of seeing it twice. I'll start with BB1 later, as I've been told BB2 is just as boring as BB4 and that it wouldn't be wise to do them both in a row. BB1 however I hear great reception from anyone here who's watched it so I'm really looking forward to it and will start it later!

I watched BB4 last summer and theres some very good points you make here. Within the cast there are some real gems like Fed, Jon and Lisa but for me the double eviction and lisa's early departure killed it for me. Its not compleltly awful imo but i suppose it was my first one to ever watch. But I think that if you took away most of the housemates from that year and kept the production, it really isnt that bad. Reward rooms were my favourite live tasks from back in the day❤❤
But like you said everytime it would be about to get enjoyable it ******s up again!! 😂

BB2 I think is getting a tough rap these days. It's really not bad, it's as good as BB1 IMO. Yes, it's a shame some people left when they did, but it still has a better boot order than BB4, and there's more memorable moments than in BB4. And it was an extremely well-received season at the time.

I agree partially with what your saying, I think ultimately it depends on what you make of the lead characters like Brian and Helen and to tbh helen is quite overrated imo. Weeks 5-9 arent horrible there are a few good moments like Bubble falling over Paul betting bubble one of the most overrated housemates of all time and helen and paul love affair that i suppose saves the series from being completly dead.

That was an interesting watch! It came across very basic but as it's the nature of the first series it was solid with it. Introducing the housemates as it went along in showing them was a nice unique touch to it as well. My only real qualm is how it looks like the first week is panned out, split into only 2-5 minute vids after this and then a whole overview of the first week so I'm probably not updating this till I get through all that

Trying not to take into account future knowledge in my rankings and sorting them purely on my feelings from the first week alone. I don't dislike anyone after the first week, and Maxwell hasn't been anywhere near as bad as I know he gets later on, I've lowkey enjoyed his wind-ups but I'll soon get tired of them for sure. Saskia comes off really well in the first week, probably the most normal/sensible/reasonable of all the housemates to begin with. Again, she gets worse, but just basing it off the first week alone. Of course Makosi/Derek/Kemal/Science are stars right from start to finish so no surprise to see them already forming the top of my list :love: And sadly I have to put Vanessa at the bottom, but alot of that is down to her being pretty much edited out of the first week as opposed to her not being likeable or anything </3 Can't wait for her gossips and DR bitching to start forming soon.

First winner ever Craig getting a negative edit after only 2 and a half weeks of being on the show :joker:. Basically he conveniently sprained his ankle before a task they had to cycle in and all the housemates have to pull their weight, but even after his injury has recovered, all Craig does is sleep rather than contribute as much and the other housemates are dragging him and it's really funny.
