When I first watched BB5 just a couple months back, the sudden Ahmed meltdown within only a few minutes of the task starting was truly something.

That feeling when you watch BB5 for the first time, thinking that the short-fused, egotistical and ruthless members of the Jungle Cats will be Victor and Jason, only for it to turn out to be Ahmed all along :laugh2:

BB4 - Week 3 (First Watch *Avoid Spoilers*)

So back to where I left it before CBB22 started. Justine is evicted, pass the parcel live task, Sissy is annoyed for not winning.
I still find it disgusting that they smoke inside the house, including in the bedroom. It's not the 80's, why BB didn't care back then lol? Were the smoking rules introduced on BB5 or BB6?
The chickens have been evicted from the house due to their health condition. Was this what triggered their removal from future series? Like the smoking, it was about time to stop it.
Jon nominating Sissy for being a vegetarian so they can buy more alcohol with in the shopping list instead of food that she can eat? I mean, how you ducking on drugs?! Also, the entire concept of getting into the DR to nominate all like "I can give you stupid reasons if you want and present it as actual reasons so you can accept it haha look at me so clever" - I couldn't roll my eyes enough.
In general, Jon is such a terrible condescending and patronizing guy. "I'm being paid lots and LOTS of money to do negotiations, so I should've done it!". "Who in here is a musician? because we better do this task this way!!!!" *raises his hand*. GOOD FOR YOU! He is so arrogant and full of himself ugh. Seeing him brag so much about knowing how the bells task should be done, yet in the end he's the one to fail it both times and keep losing track (even though they were using the rhythm he was going on and on about) - it said enough about him and I couldn't but gloat.
The audience are falling for it though. BB3 Jonny pushed his dead normal guy persona down the audience throat and they were like "OK, seems like about right". Jon going all so smug and confident and says "look at me, I'm intelligent", and the viewers are like "oh! we guess you are! share more of your wisdom, master!". He also enjoys the fact that he's a unique hm among a house that is quite similar, so people are automatically drawn to it, regardless of his personality.
Is Gos the most boring and irrelevant housemate of all times? It looks like it. He's a nice guy, of course, but sometimes it looks like he doesn't even breath. His nomination in the DR this week was agonizing! whispering, mumbling, sometimes inaudible fractions of sentences. Come on! Do something, say something, blink, anything!
I'm not sure where I stand with Fed. He can be annoying and young-and-cocky sometimes, waked up late and fails tasks over and over again, but on the other hand there's something somewhat charming about him. He has some good points, like on bill splitting on dates, but his phrasing and the way he presents it is too loud and too populist and it's mostly because he's too young. As Nush said, he's nice but needs to grow up a bit.
A bit sad seeing Sissy go. She had more to give. The girls are falling like flies it's just terrible :laugh:
Love the staircase doors in the house, love the screen-lift when Davina announces "I'm coming to get you", and overall I adore the format of the second eviction show (the eviction+interview show) - it's the small details that make it feel very ceremonial and exciting.
Davina was on fire during the eviction interview and didn't hide any of her thoughts about the housemates, it's so refreshing :joker:

So this week Claire begins the tradition of late entrants being evicted as soon as they're up - something that wouldn't be broken until - unless I'm mistaken - Orlaith in BB6.

Her reaction to her nomination is interesting. She seemed okay when the announcement was made, but not even a day later and she's descended into paranoia. While her fate was sealed as soon as she was nominated alongside Craig, the edit this reaction gives her probably would have seen her packing. In general she never really gelled in with the housemates, apart from Craig they all seemed to tolerate her. She's also trying WAY too hard as a result and it's overall quite cringe.

Of course, from what I'm gathering by public perception (there's only really the eviction shows to go on), had the original nominations stayed the same Melanie would have probably gone. She's a black single girl who isn't ashamed of her body and has garnered the affections of more than one boy. Despite her having no commitments to anyone and it being relatively innocent, this obviously makes her the devil!

On that point, the main focal point of this week was Darren's nomination of Melanie accidentally being overheard by the other housemates. When the nominations are cancelled as a result and done over, Darren changes his nomination from Melanie to Claire. It was completely cowardly of him and made me lower my estimations of him quite a bit - he's so obsessed with what people think of him to the point where he loses all credibility. I may detest Craig, but he was 100% right in his assessment of Darren's nomination reasons.

Craig continues to have a slime about him. There's just a way he goes about things that completely turns me off him. His theorising in the diary room is pandering, and he's forced himself into the role of house leader even though all his close friends (bar Claire for this week at least) have been evicted. Nonetheless its a role the public seem to have embraced him as, all because he awkwardly confronted Nick a few weeks back. I maintain that Craig is unfairly made the star of that moment just because his name was the catalyst for the events. Anna was the only one to actually get anything of substance out of Nick and was the person who pushed the confrontation beyond 'you did this' 'no i didn't'

This week's task is a bit lacklustre. It creates some interesting tension between Claire and the other housemates because of her not 'trying as hard' but aside from that it wasn't exactly fun to watch. All of these tasks are so bare bones. While I get that that is the concept of the show, it's definitely something that only improves in future series.

The addition of the hot tub last week has definitely created a different atmosphere, particularly at night. There's a lot more 'truth or dare' style games going on and it's all a bit more wild. Or, at least, BB1's brand of wild.

This week is probably a prime example of why some might find it hard to get into the older series. Aside from a few moments the drama is really quite minimal and it really is just about getting to know the housemates. So while there's not a huge amount going on sometimes you're rewarded with the fact that you feel like you know them. The 20ish minute episode length helps with this a lot. You just can't go in expecting a screaming match every episode or a massive bitchfest because a lot of times it really isn't there. But it's still enjoyable.

This week also features a rather (in my eyes anyway) infamous moment in which Melanie is shown to be plucking her pubic hair. While it may be a little startling but ultimately harmless (and nothing compared to some of the things we'd later see), it's infamous to me because the BB1AU featured Jemma, who was constantly terrified of public perception and what would be shown, partly because of this scene. :skull: :laugh:

It’s comparitvely very dry and it starts off very weird with a whole week condensed into just a few episodes. But once you push through I think it has its merits. It’s just NOT the same show that it ended up becoming. But yeah, I definitely get that it’s not for everyone. :laugh:

Similar to Victor's eviction, Jason was the favourite to go and was pretty much unanimously destined to go but because Michelle (and Victor) pissed the audience off enough, they randomly got more hate. In Michelle's case she got way too obsessed with Stuart, and the OG bunny boiler :love:

Jason also would've easily went vs Michelle in week 7, but ironically, because Ahmed didn't ruin the task enough it ended up changing things :laugh:

Chanelle is such a poor housemate, I feel so letdown by her. It's my first watch of BB8, and going in I expected her to be this messy housemate full of some classic meltdowns, albeit trying to copy Nikki. Instead, all I'm watching is someone who's screentime almost always revolves around either their obvious obsessive jealousy of Charley, or her TERRIBLE relationship with Ziggy, neither of which are enjoyable. also on the topic of natalie and farrah imho natalie showed a lot of humanity while she was in the house and it genuinely felt like she was just on the defensive. yeah she mightve not had a reason to be so but thats not the point. i didn't feel like it came from malice, as rude and as nasty of a person as she could be at times

with farrah, i can imagine talking to her doesn't feel like you're talking to another human being? she just lives in her own world, where she's the best, recklessly treating everyone like crap out of pure ignorance
