Carole came across atrociously during this but what a hilarious and underrated fight :joker: . Also glad to see Chanelle getting a taste of her own medicine after the weeks on end of purposefully avoiding Charley even when she was trying to patch things up.

Not a lot to really go on from one episode but from what I remember a lot of these are gonna slide around a bit. From one episode though I didn’t really hate anyone. Chris I’ve got in green because he seems pretty eccentric/a good bit of difference, but I don’t think I ended up liking him that much so we’ll see.

I'm loving Jack's antics and dry humour. :love:
Tragic set of nominations, Jack and Vanessa were the only housemates really doing anything.

Anthea's gone up because she was the only one if I heard correctly that actually voiced concern FOR Vanessa after her meltdown rather than just say 'oooh that was scary :worry:' but her and Claire are basically even in that they do nothing. I'm a bit disappointed in Claire - I don't know why but in the first episode or so I got this kind of bitchy vibe from her but nothing materialised. :laugh: Maybe in a later series she would've been better but alas, here she is.

I think the main problem with this series is its length. We're halfway through and you barely know anyone beyond surface level. The way the early series were produced really relied on you getting to know people for weeks on end but here everything keeps changing before any dynamics are formed. The barebones production encourages a certain level of stillness, unlike later series where multiple things are thrown at the housemates at once to get them moving. And also the casting gets generally more controversial/confrontational.
Here it still pays off with Vanessa's iconic meltdown but outside of that it leaves almost nothing to talk about.

I suppose there's a few positives to Charley being out. She at least left before someone as out there as her could've potentially got repetitive, she lost an eviction to Tracey, one of the only options I'd accept, she really left on a high with her last week, she lasted WAY longer than a female housemate as argumentative as her normally would, and she got to the famous Week 8 usually fit for the big and bombastic characters like her :clap1:

Now let's all enjoy Chanelle and Ziggy shaking with rage after Charley re-entered the house :love:

Overall a very lacklustre series. Vanessa and Jack were great, and though I despised him Chris was controversial, but two of those people leave in the first half and the last half is just everybody getting on - it was rewarding in BB1 because you had gotten to know everyone over the course of several weeks but here it's only a week so any excitement this series has vanishes before the afterglow can really be anything special.

A great winner in Jack though, he was a scream almost every episode.

I *might* start BB2 tonight, otherwise it'll be in the next few days. I remember liking it fine when I watched it, but thought it got quite stale at the end and perhaps hasn't dated as well as BB1 has. We'll see how I feel on the rewatch!

Great week :love: The divide is really cemented as a storyline now tih some brilliant arguments between Nadia and Vanessa and Victor and Emma, as well as a load of bitching. I'm not really on a side though, considering my fvourites are all in opposing camps, but I quite like seeing it from all perspectives.

Ahmed was the star of week 2 though, plate smashing, saying he couldnt wait to meet Davina over the garden, arguing with Marco over cigarettes,, dancing :love: Truly a brilliant character.

The best week so far and probably my second favourite week in Big Brother. So much happened aside from Fight Night, Nadia and Shell's meltdowns, Michelle and Emma's hilarious commentry, Ahmed vs Marco. Fight Night and the episode after are both fantastic, the highlights show of the day after you can almost feel the atmosphere, I loved how Daniel had to get people to talk and organise places, you can tell the tension was so high. Michelle and Nadia made this week for me, Michelle with her jealosy and comments and Nadia is finally becoming the legend I love.

Regarding Fight Night im not too sure on who to side with because they were all really horrible lol, whilst I love Nadia's involvement, Marco was awfu and Emma was grating aswell (she gets green for the bedsit). Victor and Jason though DID NOT need to go off like that, especially Jason. I still dont fully dislike him but he is gross.

A pretty interesting first week. Definitely more eventful than BB1’s fist week, with the first argument happening on Day 7, and housemates like Narinder and Amma keeping a variety of discussions going.

Speaking of, Narinder is fabulous. :love: From her rants over people getting her name wrong to her straight up telling everyone in the house meeting that she’ll probably slag them all of in the diary room, she’s been outrageous and funny without being nasty - though the public seem to be interpreting it that way. :worry:
Her and Brian’s friendship is the highlight so far, it’s easy to see why it’s still so iconic so many years later. Brian is funny and quick witted, keeping things from being as ‘still’ as they’d sometimes get in BB1.

Penny is the key example of the first evictee archetype. She’s loud, overbearing, dominating in the kitchen. She doesn’t seem to have major issues with most housemates except Stuart (I’ll get to that), but she’s an irritant and causes a spectacle of herself in the group, making her an easy target.

If I could put Stuart lower I would. He completely overreacted in the argument with Penny - HE said something obviously hurtful, intentional or not, and she responded with a muttered “**** you, arsehole,” and he BLOWS it so out of proportion you’d be forgiven for thinking she had wished him death. She apologises, and he refuses to forgive her, leading to her feeling further ostracised from the group and having a panic attack over it all. But oh how GRACIOUS is he to forgive her in the morning! Not once apologising for his comments!
He’s such an egomaniac and he’s repugnant.

I still don’t really have an opinion on Paul but it was disappointing to see him not try to defend Penny at all - who she views as her closest friend. Especially when part of the discussion triggering the argument involved Stuart giving Paul **** for being friends with her and she defended him. :umm2:

Bubble I’ve enjoyed in parts but also been annoyed by in parts so he remains neutral.

Elizabeth has spoken up a bit more than I thought she would, but a lot of it is still very monotonous. :laugh:

Dean I have enjoyed but in the actual show he’s boring.

Jonty DR: I don't think it's a coincidence that last week we had a stripper up for eviction and she got evicted, this week we had a glamour model up for eviction and she got evicted, I'm surprised when it happened, when I look back on it I thought "Well, there seems to be a pattern there that people are maybe not accepting of those sorts of jobs, and they have not very high opinions of those that do those jobs", which is a pity because I think part of the point of this programme is that you can see people from all different backgrounds, and realise that they're all nice human beings, that we're just different! :)

BB4 - Week 5, Africa (First Watch *Avoid Spoilers*)

What a brilliant twist was the Africa swap! In my opinion, one of the most exciting tasks/twists done in BBUK. It's so surreal having Cameron flown all the way to South Africa and seeing him in a whole different house. It's quite a shame it was too short.
The African house is so weird... it actually looks like a house, very small and cramped and not wide and TV-set-like like the UK. Also they didn't have eviction for the first month and after that an eviction every two weeks - imagine that...
It looks like the African series is quite a good one and a lot is happening! Tapuwa (the girl who had feeling for Cameron) looked lovely and stood out during this time. And oh dear, Abby (the vocal one who Cameron told her to shut up) is literally the archetype of Anamelia - so theatrical, emotional and dramatic.
Gaetano was OK, I guess... Quite cynical, tactless and not as reserved as the other UK housemates, which sometimes didn't make him look good (telling Tania she's piggish?!). It was too short to fully know him.
I love Cameron. He opened up especially in the African house, showing a different side to him that we couldn't see in UK. I'm happy that he's doing so well and got into this task.
Very sad seeing Tania going. She was amazing this week, absolutely hilarious! Her rant in the DR when she couldn't nominate anyone was one of the best DR moments in BB imo. She was thrilled when her name was called, probably the happiest evictee ever and she had her interview with grace, very humble and not vindictive about housemates/people nominating her or not liking her. On launch night I ranked her 11/12 and very quickly she became the real surprise of this series. In fact, I think she's one of my top 10 female hm of all time. Quite possibly the best it girl in BB (not a fan of Charley here).

Guru Week was definitely the best post-Charley week although there was a little too much greedy Gerry for me to think it's a good week either.

First of all, Big Brother tells them that the housemates have to choose between Makosi and Vanessa. Vanessa starts crying, sobbing that she doesn’t want to go, while Makosi insists that she is fine with going and she will go. So what do the housemates do? They evict Vanessa! What a callous bunch

And then, Makosi tries doing a Sukhvinder Javeed! Running up the stairs after Vanessa so she can leave with her (reflecting Deborah running after Ellie, did BB18 just try mimicking this eviction show or what) having a little cry at the top of the stairs with Vanessa, Science then comes running upstairs to drag Makosi downstairs (gotta get that attention) Big Brother is raging with them, sternly telling them to get back in the house, the drama never ends!

Ahmed was not 'openly homophobic.' He was homophobic sure, but a lot of that is based on his background and where he comes from. Homophobia was rarely, if ever, an aspect to what he was as a housemate. He also didn't discriminate against anyone, he frequently distanced himself and clashed with all races and sexualities in the house. He called Kitten his best friend in the first week too, who was openly a lesbian actively against discrimination.

Marco was openly racist to Ahmed by criticising him for expecting the government to care about his immigration, one of the most disgusting things ever said, a line never crossed by Ahmed so Ahmed had every right to put someone as spiteful as Marco in their place
