They need to get rid of some characters first, a new fresh group of uni students is definetly needed and they need to settle them in quick and focus on them individually e.g. their personalities like they did with Jess and co:).

Indeed and Carmel is much different now. Hollyoaks really needs to keep the main and popular cast happy. If say for example Emmett quit now the show would get a kick up the backside.

I think Alice Barlow has been on holiday, there are some characters in Hollyoaks that are still hanging around that have no family but are around because of their connections to other characters.

I would be disappointed if Rae left the show before Noah or flaming Liberty even if her family is there, the actress will do a Summer Strallen and leave for a singing career:D.

All the characters do it, because there is such a big cast it's what HO do to rotate the cast and which storylines will be focused on each week because the actors are contracted to appear in a certain amount of episodes;).

Rae was in it with the baby thing then disappeared for ages then came back did about 5 episodes with working in the Pub and hasn't been on screen since, and she won't be back for another 5-6 weeks? Found this about some of the upcoming summer storylines, this is from Inside Soap but the poster on DS hasn't posted all the info and has promised to do so soon so i'll keep my eye out:p.

Bart, Jason and Sinead's storyline is mentioned, apparently Bart and Sinead go on a trip which leaves them 'Coming of Age'. Mercedes fake pregnancy is mentioned, Jacqui and Myra find out she is lying about her pregnancy and Myra tells her to fake a miscarriage but it has consequences. A little bit on Warren/Ethan/Brendan- Warren and Brendan try to hide money and Ethan is still desperate to find something to pin on Warren.

Sounds better than the recent dull filler stuff we're getting;).

Channel 4 has reportedly identified up to £12 million worth of product placement opportunities for Hollyoaks under newly-relaxed UK regulations.

According to documents seen by Broadcast, the placement opportunities cover six areas, including fashion, health and beauty and coffee/retail expected to gross up to £2m each. Opportunities were offered to relevant companies last month and sealed bids are due to be submitted by June 10.

Channel 4's bidding process follows weeks of conversations with brands and media agencies about the best ways to integrate product placement in its flagship soap opera.

Product placement deals on British television have been made possible by changes to the law introduced by the government last year, and brought into force by Ofcom in February.

A 52-page 'Product Placement Prospectus' has been prepared by Channel 4 with input from Hollyoaks producer Lime Pictures.

The broadcaster hopes to have contracts signed by July 8 in order to enable Lime to introduce the products in line with Ofcom's rules and guidelines. It is expected that the first brands will appear on Hollyoaks by August or September.

Channel 4's product placement document reveals that the broadcaster wants to secure deals that also include off-screen licences and promotional rights, such as using Hollyoaks cast members for PR.

David Charlesworth, Channel 4 head of sponsorship, placement and funded content, said that the strategy is to demonstrate how product placement can drive sales.

However, he also warned that Channel 4 may not be able to secure its £12m target for Hollyoaks. Instead, the "ambition" is to take "circa £3m for PP in Hollyoaks for the first 12 months, one way or another".

Other expected product placement money spinners for Hollyoaks include technology and mobile at £750,000 to £2m, along with retail finance and film/music events at £500,000 to £900,000 each.

In March, Channel 4 agreed its first product placement deal involving retail chain New Look appearing on a new fashion show for the T4 strand.

Yesterdays C4 episode pulls in 660,000 viewers. Well it is the summer holidays plus when they count the C4OD viewers it totals to more or near abouts a million anyway.

Hollyoaks bosses have today confirmed details of a new set that's due to appear on screen in the coming months.

The soap's official website reveals that a coffee shop will open in the Hollyoaks Community College campus later this year, providing a new hangout for the show's student characters.

Hollyoaks' new set is likely to fill the gap left behind by the loss of Il Gnosh, which burned down in a blaze last November.

In a further twist, show producers have invited viewers to name the new set and are inviting suggestions via the official site. The idea deemed the best will win and the coffee shop will be named accordingly.

There was an interview with Bronaugh Waugh (Cheryl) on DS talking about the Silas storyline and she said that it starts pick to the pace now in the coming months

Hollyoaks actress Bronagh Waugh has promised that the soap's serial killer storyline will gather pace in the coming months.

Since December, fans have seen sinister Silas Blissett become a dangerous presence in the village, murdering student India Longford and Doug Carter's mysterious ex-girlfriend Rebecca Massey. He has also come close to bumping off several other female characters.

The village's residents currently have no idea that Silas is the killer in their midst, although Irish nurse Lynsey Nolan has voiced suspicions.

Discussing the future of the dark plot, Waugh told Inside Soap: "We've got some really good stuff coming up. Silas will continue to run amok and that's going to build to a big crescendo.

"Lots of people in the village are involved with the storyline, so that's what we're working towards at the moment."

Waugh's character Cheryl Brady has formed a friendship with Silas, despite Lynsey's warnings that he is not to be trusted.

The actress added: "I hope Cheryl doesn't get hurt, as I want to stay! I think the viewers will be really excited to see how it all unfolds."

No way will they kill Cheryl off, she's popular with most of the viewers and she seems popular with the cast/management but I hope she gets her own storyline soon and I guess this must be Nancy's big storyline as promised (they better not have dropped it or i'll be disappointed:bored:).

After a year at Hollyoaks, has it been everything that you expected?
"It's been everything and more. It's just so good to come to work and do something that you love. Everyone's lovely here and it literally is like the Hollyoaks family. Even when I spoke to people from other shows at the Soap Awards, they commented on how we all seem like a family and really look out for each other. So I get to come to work to do what I love with people that I love - it's brilliant."


We've seen Sinead show more of a bitchy side in the past few weeks - what are your thoughts on this?
"I love it! I love playing the bitch and I want to do it more. I think Sinead did start out quite cocky and a bit of a bitch, and then as things went on with Diane and things like that, she did become a bit more laid-back. I think Sinead feels like she can't trust anyone, so she puts a barrier up and pushes them away a bit."

How will things progress for Sinead in the coming weeks?
"She will open up a bit more and make a few new friends. She's got some interesting stuff coming up. She goes nice for a little bit, but then the bitch starts coming back! She'll have a bit of a rivalry with someone…"

Is the storyline between Sinead, Ruby and Esther just schoolgirl bitchiness or could it become more of a serious bullying storyline?
"I think it could be more serious with Ruby, but not with Sinead. I don't think Sinead's really like that. I don't think Sinead is a bully, I think she's just the 'bad girl'. So I don't think we'll see Sinead as a severe bully, but we could see her getting into the wrong type of things and mixing with the wrong type of people - the bad characters of the show!"

Do you like the relationship between Sinead and Bart?
"Yeah, Jonny Clarke who plays Bart is one of my best friends in real life, we're really close. Everyone always asks if we're together in real life and I'm like, 'No!' because he's got a girlfriend!"


We do see Sinead away from the rest of the O'Connors quite a bit, so would you like to see more scenes with her and the family?
"Yeah, I would. I have had quite a lot of stuff with Diane and recently we've been filming together so much - it's been non-stop with full days. I think Diane is going to start speaking to other people, not just the kitchen sink! (Laughs) We'll have also scenes together over meal-times and things like that, but I am enjoying working with the other characters as well - Sinead's getting out there and doing different stuff."

Could we see Sinead's real mum return any time soon?
"I'm not sure at the moment - I don't think we'll see her return any time soon. Maybe we could see her return later on, but I think everything's cool at the moment. I enjoyed working with her as she was lovely - she was really laid-back and very different from me!"

Finally, are you enjoying working with Hollyoaks' new boss Gareth Philips?
"Yeah, he's really nice. He's really easy-going and if you have a problem, you can go up and speak to him. The other day, I had a meeting with him in his office and he said, 'This is what's going to happen - tell me what you think'. He's like a friend and he's very straight with you. I like that, it's really nice and it's never daunting going up to the producer's office. When he first started, obviously we all saw him as the boss but now it's just completely relaxed and I get on with him really well. I think he's done really good with the show as well."

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe has predicted that her character Mercedes McQueen will continue her cheating ways in the coming weeks.

Mercedes has enjoyed an on-off fling with pub landlord Carl Costello this year, despite being engaged to his footballer son Riley (Rob Norbury).

Although Mercedes has recently tried to keep her distance from Carl, the storyline is revisited in next week's episodes as her sister Jacqui (Claire Cooper) finds out about the affair. Jacqui also learns that Mercedes is planning to fake a miscarriage after lying about being pregnant.

However, pondering her character's next move, Metcalfe told Soaplife: "She wants Riley. She loves Riley. But she can't help fancying Carl. There's a difference between love and lust in Mercedes's eyes. Carl is really keen and if she gave him the nod, he'd be right back in there.

"If Jacqui keeps her mouth shut, Mercedes will be relieved she's still got Riley and won't be thinking about Carl - although I think they could end up in bed together again!"

Metcalfe also admitted that keeping Jacqui quiet will prove a difficult task as she seems determined to reveal the truth.

She said: "It's horrible. Mercedes feels like her world could collapse around her at any moment."

Hollyoaks star Craig Vye has admitted that he expects his character Ethan Scott to find himself single at the end of his current love triangle storyline.

Ethan is currently in a relationship with student Liberty Savage (Abi Phillips), but has also found himself attracted to Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter) over the past few months.

Episodes of Hollyoaks airing later this month see Ethan finally get dumped by Liberty after she finds out that she has been betrayed by her boyfriend and best friend.

The couple's break-up paves the way for Ethan and Theresa to finally get together, but a further twist sees the policeman soon drawn back to Liberty, taking him back to square one.

"Liberty has been quite needy with the whole wedding thing, but Ethan sees her in a different light when she gets all standoffish with him," Vye told Soaplife of the storyline. "He sees her sing at Chez Chez and it's clear he's still smitten."

Vye confirmed that Ethan secretly reunites with Liberty, despite having told Theresa that he is free to be with her.

"He's fallen for Theresa yet part of him still loves Liberty," he said. "They share a kiss and it looks like they're secretly back on."

Asked whether Ethan's actions could end badly, the actor replied: "It looks like it. I can see Ethan ending up on his own, but that could be the best thing for him - he's clearly not ready to settle down!"

I think it will, reckon she'll find out about Theresa being a killer (stumbling upon a conversation between Theresa and Ethan) and will then attempt to blackmail her but then Silas strikes on her wedding day to Ethan (my storyline idea:p).

Liberty is easy to get rid of because Jorgie P is popular and they won't want her chracter to leave, even if they wrongly made her a killer.

Wish I could give a dam about the Mercedes-Riley-Carl plot but it's awful. It was rushed into, repetitive and eventually boring. Even the Silas plot hasn't added any extra spark.

Plus, I'm sure Mercedes has lied about a miscarriage before. Only it was after an abortion. Unless they can give her something good I say it's time Mercedes left.

It baffles me how the tides turn in fanbases when a character turns gay.

People didn't really like Ste and laughed at the thought of Brendan as a villain. Put them together in a domestic abusive, closeted homosexual relationship and people are acting like they are gods. Same thing with Christian and Syed on Eastenders. And Sophie and Sian on Corrie. Hated characters that people suddenly love. The appreciation threads these characters get on DigitalSpy makes me wanna hurl.
