Hollyoaks fans were left stunned earlier this month when the soap's bosses announced that Jamie Lomas had returned to the role of Warren Fox. Viewers thought that they had seen the last of the notorious villain when he appeared to be killed by a falling ceiling mirror during a fire at The Loft in May 2009. However, in a huge storyline twist, the Hollyoaks residents are about to discover that Warren made it out of the burning club alive - before fleeing the village. With Warren about to make his screen comeback, DS recently chatted to Jamie about what's in store.

How did the return to Hollyoaks come about?
"Back in June or July, I received a phone call from [producer] Paul Marquess with the pitch of bringing Warren back. As far as I was concerned, Warren was dead and buried, but I was aware that the viewers had never actually seen his body. So Paul came to me with this genius plot and it was just too good to turn down as an actor - it's got so many twists and turns in it, and intrigue and mystery. As an actor that's what you want to do, and I always loved playing Warren when I was here before. When I left under Bryan Kirkwood, my character had run its course, but Paul has basically brought in a new cast so there's so much scope for new stories. You know what Warren's like - he's just going to come straight in and cause mayhem!"

A storyline where a character comes 'back from the dead' is always going to be a bit controversial, so did you have any reservations about returning?
"Well, it's like I said before, the saving grace was that they never actually saw my body - all they saw was me getting hit by a mirror. So we're going to do a whole storyline on how Warren got out, what happened and whose body it was that they found badly burnt. It's really exciting and I think the fans are going to love it."

We've heard that you've filmed some flashback scenes showing what really happened in The Loft fire - can you tell us anything about them?
"I can't really say anything about them! It's all top secret. Like I said, I knew about this storyline in June or July, and I went to the Hollyoaks charity ball a few weeks later and a lot of my fellow cast members were there who I used to work with. They're extremely good friends of mine and I even had to keep it a secret from them! That was really difficult. All I can say about the storyline is that it'll have everybody hooked and for me, it's just a delight to be playing this character again."

Can you tell us what Warren's main motive for leaving the village was?
"Well, he was in a bad way. Obviously he killed Louise and found out that she was pregnant with his kid, and everything was getting on top of him. The net was closing in on him because I think he'd confessed to Calvin, and so he basically knew that it was the end of the road. So those are some of the reasons why he wanted to flee."

Does Warren come back with a bang, or he will he keep a bit of a low profile in the village at first?
"I can't really say, but nothing is ever done subtly with Warren! The audience are going to be shocked. Also, pretty much as soon as he comes back, they're obviously going to have to explain everything and what happened."

How difficult was it for Warren to let Spencer and Katy think he was dead?
"Warren is Warren and he just looks after number one. At the end of the day, Katy had left the village and she'd basically washed her hands of Warren. Warren just cares about himself - the only person who he watches out for is himself."

Has Warren changed much in the last year?
"You'll see! All I can say is that he's come back to cause mayhem. Wherever he is, he can't help but cause trouble. He's just one of those people."

With Brendan Brady and Danny Houston also in the village, do you think Warren will meet his match in the bad boy stakes?
"I hope so! But obviously Warren is scared of no man. Warren was always a character who got a kick out of rubbing people up the wrong way and winding them up. That's how Warren gets his kicks and if he knows that he's getting to people, that's what keeps him going. So there'll be loads of scope there for him. Brendan and Danny are the type of characters who won't be running to the police, so there's loads of room for good storylines and I'm really excited about it."

Have you received a warm welcome back from the Hollyoaks team?
"Yeah, definitely! I know it sounds like a bit of a cliché, but when you're here for such a long time like I was - I was originally here for three years - these people become like your family. It's not just the cast, it's the production and the crew and everyone from make-up. I mean, I walked into make-up and everyone was saying, 'I can't believe you're back!' It's a lovely place to work and the people are great. They welcomed me back with open arms."

It was Bryan Kirkwood who first introduced the character of Warren to Hollyoaks - have you spoken to him about your decision to return?
"I haven't spoken to him, but he did send me a text the other day when the news was reported in a paper. The paper said that I'd begged for my job back, which wasn't true! Bryan just said that he wished me all the best. Me and Bryan were always friends anyway. But obviously he's got his own stuff to deal with down at EastEnders, and I'm up here working for Paul! I'm a big fan of Paul's work, so I'm really excited about starting work for him."

Tom's face when he saw Warren:shocked:, really glad he is getting more screentime because Eliis Hollins is a really good actor although he is very young and is still at school it is limited hours he can do, still one of the longest serving characters in the show.

I'm feeling sorry for Theresa:(, I like Carmel and can understand her anger about Calvin but Theresa regrets it, Jacqui trying to sort the mess out again and they chuck it back in her face. Liking Jasmine a lot, the Costellos are really settling into the show;).

You're right. It's like they've totally changed everything about Ste. The whole storyline seems to be going nowhere and will go in circles. I think they've done all they can with Ste's character tbh

I wouldn't be surprised if that scene was real but there is something off about it. If Steph dies though I'll be disappointed as it's obvious and the trailers have alluded to it to much.

Thats what sets Oaks out from the big 3 because they aren't afraid to be very creative with their storylines and even though some don't make sense at first it all comes together;).

I read an interesting theory on DS that it could be that copper Mark who was trying to find out who pushed Clare and investigated the Loft Fire, but he arrested Clare:conf:.

A special stand-alone Hollyoaks episode focusing on Warren Fox's shock comeback is to air at the beginning of December, it has been announced.

Last month, viewers saw Jamie Lomas's bad boy character arrive back in the village more than a year after he appeared to lose his life during a massive fire at The Loft.

Since his return, the notorious villain has been back to his old ways by causing trouble in the village - but the truth about how he escaped the nightclub blaze has remained a closely-guarded secret.

However, in an episode of the soap due to air on December 1 on Channel 4, all will become clear when a series of flashbacks show how Warren cheated death on a fateful night for Hollyoaks.

Exact details of the flashbacks are expected to be kept under wraps until transmission.

Over the past few weeks, Warren has spooked schoolboy Tom Cunningham (Ellis Hollins) by regularly making his presence known to him. He has also targeted The Loft's new owner Cheryl Brady (Bronagh Waugh) with a sinister prank and appeared in a number of scenes with fellow returnee Mandy Hutchinson (Sarah Jayne Dunn).

Lomas recently told DS that his storyline will feature "intrigue", "mystery" and "so many twists and turns".

Ruth is the Terri Dwyer character isn't it? I doubt she'd ever come back for more than one off episodes like she has in the past.
But those fire episodes did not surprise me at all, Paul Marquess's stamp all over them. Phina Oruche cannot act for toffee, Carley Stenson was given a cheesy, idiotic and stupid final scene. The entire scenario was stupid.
A news crew were apparently filming the blaze a good half hour before any emergency services arrived. Shame no one thought to dial 999.
The only saving grace for this show is Warren and Mandy's comebacks, without them the show would die.

Yeah Ste is having a realtionship with Brendan. But he is on the recieving end of a lot of physical violence from Brendan. Like you i stoped watchen but since the new producer came in it has been brilliant , the stroylines have been really good and they have got rid of the deadwood.

I quite like Ste and I thought this story was going to be interesting but Brendan isn't likable enough to pull it off, the actor's good but the character is charmless and it's difficult to believe that Ste would suddenly fall for him out of nowhere. He should be more of a conflicted character really but he's not very sympathetic so it's hard to care for it all. They jumped into it too quickly really without really delving into his character first.

Jamie Lomas has praised a forthcoming Hollyoaks episode which will reveal the secrets behind his character's shock return.

The actor's villainous character Warren Fox made a comeback on the soap last month - more than a year after he had appeared to be killed off during a massive fire at The Loft.

Hollyoaks bosses recently confirmed that an upcoming edition of the Channel 4 drama will feature a series of flashbacks, showing viewers how Warren cheated death in the blaze.

Writing on Twitter this morning, Lomas teased: "In work filming how I got out of the fire, this ep is amazing…"

The star recently told DS that producers plan to explain "how Warren got out, what happened and whose body it was that they found badly burnt".

Speaking at the time, he added: "It's really exciting and I think the fans are going to love it."

Hollyoaks' special Warren episode is scheduled to air on December 1.

Dom's exit on E4 tonight was better than I was expecting He rang the police about starting the fire after confessing to Tony.. Tony then was angry towards Bart because he wound Dom up and knew about the Amber thing.

Bart can be such a ***** sometimes but he's a good character and I can't help but like him.. he and Jasmine kissed and it looks like he's beginning to accept the Jason thing.

Dom is the one who started the fire, he is the reason Steph & Mal are dead. I don't buy this 'all blame Bart' crap. Bart is a silly school kid who went too far in a prank with Dom. They are trying to say he was bullying Dom, it happened in a matter of hours, hardly bullying.

It feels cheap and desperate to create more drama from the fire. Bart didn't force Dom to star the fire, in fact Bart had nothing to do with the fire. Dom thought he could generate an insurance claim to help his brother out. Bart is young, Dom is an adult and works for the police albeit not a real copper, but someone who should know better.

It seems the village are letting Dom get away with it and using Bart as a target.

Tom's guardian Steph Roach died in the soap's Il Gnosh blaze earlier this month, leaving the youngster's future uncertain as Quinlan's character Gilly and the rest of Steph's loved ones struggle to cope with her passing.

I agree with your comment about the McQueens. They came into Hollyoaks in a big way and have long been a favourite family of mine. That said I think the producers know how great the McQueens have been to the show, but are in danger of overkill. All major story-lines they seem to be throwing the McQueens in for that extra mile.

I feel Emmerdale did the same thing with the Dingles, thankfully the Dingles are on a back burner and i hope they stay there for some time.

Both soaps are aware of how popular these families are and it shows whenever a McQueen or Dingle leaves, they have to rush in to bring in a new character with the family name.

Too much of a good thing isn't always a healthy way to go.

All is going to be explained about how Warren escaped the fire in a special episode on 1st December so I presume during or after that episode unless they plan to leave it a long after.

2 rumours.. one is that the role Jem Costello may be recast because the actress Helen Russell Clark apparently didn't want to do HO but only did it because she thought it would boost her profile, plus Jem is coming back because of this Jasmine storyline.

Other rumour is that Sarah Jayne Dunn (Mandy) and Ashley Slanina Davies (Amy) have signed six month contracts.

Steph and Malachy died:(Dom started the fire to help Tony because he got into debt with the restuarant.. Bart told Dom to start the fire.

Amber and Finn got trapped but were saved, Amber then revealed she was pregnant but didn't say who the dad is.. it's Finn;).

Amy was trapped in her flat but Steph saved Leah and Lucas then she went back into the fire to die because she was going to die of Cancer anyway:(.

Ste thinks that Brendan started the fire, Rae who is meant to be Ste's girlfriend found out that Ste and Brendan are s,eeping together.

If the body was so badly burnt that you couldn't make out the identity then why ask Calvin and Sasha to look at the body at all? Why take their word it was Warren if you couldn't make out who it was? Stupid attempt at rewriting last years story.

I didn't mind that episode.. good but not brilliant, at last we got an explanation and I enjoyed the flashbacks involving Clare, Justin etc. I'm thinking the person sending the texts is Mandy but I so hope it's Louise or Clare!:devil:.
