Thing is the fans have been going on about the likes of Liberty etc for ages now and the management still haven't listened yet, they immediately got rid of the Sharpes after they proved unpopular.



Getting rid of the Sharpe's as quickly as they did, didn't really make sense to me. Sure you can over cast and you're always taking a gamble when introducing a new family. With the Sharpe's though, they just weren't in the show long enough to make that decision (IMO)

It tells me a different story that the writers obviously didn't have a clue. I'm no expert on writing and creating characters for a story, however common sense tells me that if you're planning on introducing a new family, surely those plans would include at least 6 months (even 12) of stories/ideas where the new family is going to fit in.

I really liked Newt I thought his story was wonderfully told and found it really gripping at times, especially with Eli.

Not long after Rae came into the show full time I really started to find Newt boring and I didn't realise it was because of Rae. Now looking back all the signs were there.

I am really loving the acting, the stories and the emotions that are coming from the likes of Rhys & Jacqui. Yet in the same period we have the likes of Ethan and Liberty really bringing the show down.

I believe in the story with Rhys & Jacqui and no matter how I try and view it I simply can't believe in anything that involves Ethan and Liberty.

Hopefully Silas will kill Liberty and Ethan will witness this leading to Silas killing him too.

Theresa is good though, saving grace of this storyline for me. Liberty is dreadful, at least Summer Strallen could act when she had her short stint with the show.

New Channel 4 boss says that Hollyoaks will not be axed:). Glad if true but i'm still a bit wary of her, due to her stint at the BBC.

Channel 4's chief creative officer Jay Hunt has pledged her commitment to Hollyoaks' future, dismissing claims that she is planning to axe the soap.

Earlier this year, tabloid reports suggested that Hunt wished to scrap the serial following a fall in viewing figures - but the rumours were quickly denied by Channel 4 and the programme's production company Lime Pictures.

More recently, fresh speculation about Hollyoaks' future began when reports revealed that Channel 4 had received pitches for new shows to take over the 6.30pm slot. However, the broadcaster insisted that the pitches had been unsolicited.

In a new interview with The Guardian in which she sets out her vision for Channel 4, Hunt has confirmed that there are no plans for Hollyoaks to be axed or replaced.

Hunt, who previously worked as BBC One's controller, commented: "People rush to panic about these things. I've had the luxury of seeing EastEnders going through highs and lows.

"It's certainly true that Hollyoaks has had a tough time. I am encouraged by where it is going creatively now. And my priority is making sure it is unmissable."

In January, Gareth Philips was announced as Hollyoaks' new producer after his predecessor Paul Marquess decided to leave the soap following a one-year stint in charge.

Current storylines include the aftermath of Jacqui McQueen's rape ordeal, Ste and Brendan's dark on-off relationship, Bart and Sinead's forbidden romance and the sinister antics of serial killer Silas.

Hollyoaks' new recruit Jay Duffy has revealed the first details of his role as Declan Brady, confirming that he does not share many similarities with his dad Brendan.

The 15-year-old - who is the son of Coronation Street star Keith Duffy - landed his guest part on the soap earlier this year after casting bosses watched him perform in a school production of Peter Pan.

Declan makes his first appearance in the village at the start of next month, allowing viewers to learn more about Brendan's (Emmett Scanlan) background.

Speaking to All About Soap about Declan, Duffy commented: "He's your typical Dublin schoolboy. His parents split up when he was very young, so he doesn't know a lot about Brendan. Declan comes to Chester to have a bit of bonding time with his dad while his mum Eileen goes on a two-week cruise."

He continued: "Declan isn't like Brendan and doesn't realise his dad is the village villain. Declan's a charmer, though - he's going to get to know some of the bad people in Hollyoaks. There's lots of exciting stuff coming up for him, trust me."

Next week's Hollyoaks episodes see the Brendan, Ste and Noah love triangle reach its climax.

Hollyoaks star Emmett Scanlan has confirmed that his character Brendan Brady will show his softer side when son Declan arrives in the village next month.

Hollyoaks' ongoing serial killer storyline has been pretty quiet recently, but if the latest spoilers emerging are anything to go by, it sounds as if Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle) will start getting back to his sinister best next month.

Irish nurse Lynsey Nolan (Karen Hassan) is currently the only village resident who has an inkling that all is not right with the 'affable' grandfather, and All About Soap and Soaplife now both reveal that she'll get back into Silas's bad books when he catches her looking at his hospital records.

After trying to scare off Lynsey with a menacing warning, Silas goes on to recruit budding journalist Nancy Hayton (Jessica Fox) to do an undercover investigation for him. But is she putting herself in danger? And what will Silas's next move be?

The scenes in question air on Thursday, August 4 and Friday, August 5 at 6.30pm on Channel 4.

We've already seen Silas kill innocent student India Longford and con artist Bex - Hollyoaks fans seem to be itching for him to add another name to his hit list, but whether he'll do so remains to be seen...

Kieron Richardson has hinted that Hollyoaks' gay domestic abuse storyline could return to the forefront of the soap in the coming months.

The actor's troubled character Ste Hay embarked on a violent relationship with nightclub boss Brendan Brady (Emmett Scanlan) last year, but he is now in a new romance with fitness instructor Noah Baxter (Law Thompson) after dumping the sinister Irishman.

Ste, Brendan and Noah's love triangle reaches its climax in next week's episodes, leaving the path open for Ste and Brendan's dark relationship to be further explored in the weeks ahead.

Speaking to BBC Radio Manchester, Richardson commented: "Obviously we don't want to rush this storyline because it is quite sensitive. We're not trying to drag it out, but make it as realistic as possible.

"Ste really loves Brendan and he's gone through the domestic abuse thing so far, and he wants to try and get away from that. So instead of reporting it and going to the police, his decision was to just leave him and move on in another relationship - which is with Noah. Obviously that relationship isn't going too well and on-screen in the next couple of weeks, you'll see the result of that.

"So over the next couple of weeks, there's going to be lots more fireworks in the Ste and Noah relationship and Brendan will very much be at the centre of that.

"And then hopefully we'll pick up on the domestic abuse [again]. There will be a result at the end - that people might be happy with, or they might not be happy with. We'll have to keep watching."

Brendan's son Declan Brady, played by Jay Duffy, makes his arrival on screen at the beginning of next month.

True.. I blame the producers RE Mercedes because Jennifer Metcalfe can certainly act more than the usual tired affair storylines, but I guess it's keeping in touch with the characterisation of her character:bored:.

Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis has admitted that she is finding it easy to identify with her character's current relationship troubles.

The actress's latest storyline sees her feisty alter ego Sinead O'Connor involved in a forbidden romance as her stepmum Diane (Alex Fletcher) has banned her from having any contact with her rebellious boyfriend Bart McQueen, played by Jonny Clarke.

Reflecting on the love plot, Davis told the Liverpool Echo: "I've been with someone I knew I shouldn't be with - you know it's not right but you want to be together.

"I'm in a similar situation at the moment. I don't know what to do, but if you like someone you've just got to go for it, haven't you, and hope for the best. Me and Jonny say it's like the law of attraction - everything we do in Hollyoaks tends to happen to us in real life a few weeks later."

Davis also teased next week's dramatic episodes for Sinead and Bart, which see the young couple defy Diane by fleeing the village.

"Diane doesn't want us to be together, so we run away to Wales," she explained. "At first it's all exciting, we go to a B&B and then obviously as time goes on it gets a lot harder. We eventually run out of money, have to leave the B&B and it becomes a struggle.

"But the only good thing is that we've got each other, like Romeo and Juliet. They do get a job on the fair and try and make the best of what they've got. It's hard and they bicker, but they love each other and they make it up no matter what."

Davis joined the cast of Hollyoaks last summer, when the O'Connor clan were unveiled as the soap's third new family.

I have a question about tonight's E4 episode.

Bart and Sinead left home on a bike, we saw them check into a B&B then later we saw them buy the coast. Now there's nothing wrong in that but I was puzzled why they were still carrying all their luggage when they could have left them in their room. It didn't make sense.....:conf:

I'm so enjoying this new arrangement with Nancy, Frankie and co.. I hope this keeps going right through the Summer. The little digs are brilliant. I've always enjoyed the scenes with Frankie and Nancy over the years.

Yes now you mention it I was expecting more than just a few teddy bears and rides on the fair. It does feel rushed a little too. I'm glad they covered the one aspect because I did wonder just who was paying for it all and Bart couldn't have taken too much.

Just thought RE Silas he disappears off to France and could be killing people there off screen so there is continuity while he's on screen, and no-one has noticed yet that the murders only happen when he is around because he's not actually part of the community;).

Sinead & Bart ran away and they were staying in some B&B for a bit and they got jobs at this fun fair place and Diane was like really upset.

Jason found out where they were and told Diane, Diane found Sinead & Bart who at this time have become homeless and jobless and then Diane said they should both come home and she doesn't mind them being together, but Bart said she was lying so him and Sinead walked off leaving Diane but she chased after them and grabbed Sineads arm and Sinead smacked her across the face :hmph: and they ran off again.

Brendan wanted to get rid of Noah so he called some guy to get Noah a job in newcastle then Noah was thrilled and him and Ste were moving but then after Ste talked to Amy he was going to say cause he couldnt leave her and the kids. BUT THEN he was leaving with Noah again and Brendan tried to stop it by hiring this guy Sean to seduce Noah which he did and Ste saw them so Ste broke up with Noah and Noah moved to Newcastle :amazed:

And the rest was just funny stuff with Nancy/Darren/Frankie/Jack

There's been rumours that Rae might be a Silas victim because Alice Barlow tweeted that she was filming with James Atherton (Will) and Jeff Rawle (Silas) and a few others.

Hollyoaks has always been good at the issue based plots e.g. Hannah's Anorexia etc and IMO at times they've been better than the top 3 soaps doing plots like that but when the show isn't at it's best then it's very frustrating.

'Hollyoaks' Declan Brady will struggle to get close to his father in the Channel 4 soap.

Jay Duffy - the 15-year-old son of Boyzone and 'Coronation Street' star Keith Duffy - plays the son of bad boy gangster Brendan (Emmett J. Scanlan) and Eileen Brady (Rachel Doherty) and admitted Declan's relationship with his dad will be "awkward" at first as the pair get to know each other.

We could get a shock death because they're good at keeping secrets unlike the other soaps. Mercedes fits the bill but she's pregnant, can't see them killing off a McQueen and Jennifer Metcalfe is happy in the show plus is one of their big profile actresses.

Lynsey well I actually think he'll fail again with her and he could try to kill Nancy before everyone works out it's Silas.

Hollyoaks star Jeff Rawle has promised that there is a big climax on the way for his character Silas Blissett's dark storyline.

Silas has been at the of terror in the village since Christmas, when he murdered innocent student India Longford. Since then, he has also killed Doug Carter's con artist girlfriend Rebecca Massey.

While Silas's antics have been put on the backburner in recent weeks, the plot is expected to pick up the pace across August and beyond.

Asked whether the story's conclusion is on the way, Rawle told This Morning today: "It is! We've been waiting a long time to see what's going to happen with Silas and over the next three months we've got some cracking storylines which end in an awful climax, which I can't say anything about."


Rawle confirmed that Silas will soon start terrorising nurse Lynsey Nolan (Karen Hassan), who is currently the only person in the village who suspects he is responsible for the murders.

The actor explained: "He's now intent on discrediting her, because she knows that I'm the killer - she's heard my voice and believes she's right. It's my job to undermine her.

"My job over the next few weeks, it's like a war of attrition - I'm going to wear her down and send her mad. I break into her flat and move things around in the middle of the night, that kind of thing."

Rawle also predicted that there will be devastating consequences for the Costello family when they discover the true of their seemingly-affable relative.

"That family is going to be ripped asunder I think, when they find out that he's actually the killer in their midst," he said.

PJ Brennan, who plays Doug, recently told Digital Spy that he would like "a little bit of a Scooby Gang" to come together and solve the murders.

Agreed. It needs someone on the same level of Clare Devine or Louise when she first arrived and was a bitch. As for the male villains someone like Warren (first time around). Brendan and his forced storyline's are really making me turn the channel every episode. I find it all so unconvincing, especially Ste.

It makes me laugh how Brendan and Lynsey etc were brought in to integrate Cheryl into the show more since after Mal and Kris left she had no links. Yet, she has now become an under developed random person who pops up every now and then.

Yeah Ste's acting isn't really as good as it used to be, he pulls those stupid faces all the time which is really annoying. Brenden is a bit too panto but he does have his moments where he is ok. And I agree, Cheryl doesn't have much direction anymore but still do like her.

Can't wait for Lynsey to be in it more soon though :amazed:
