She has finished her part in the Riley/Mitzeee and Mercedes love triangle, next she will be involved with what Walker's secret is so is basically interfering and with Silas coming back it fits into place.

I still hope that Silas kills Texas because she was his first intended target and then I reckon he will kill himself in Hollyoaks Later, or he will fall violently to his death.

Hollyoaks airs explosive scenes this evening (June 26) as Mitzeee Minniver finally cracks under the pressure of her stalker ordeal.

Mitzeee (Rachel Shenton) is terrified in tonight's episode as she realises that her tormentor is back on the scene, and when scheming Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) continues to secretly terrorise her, the glamour girl relies on a dangerous cocktail of pills and alcohol to ease her pain.

Later, after making a fool of herself at The Dog by accusing Lynsey of being the stalker, Mitzeee heads back to the flat and struggles to remain calm.

When Lynsey and Mercedes turn up to check on her, Mitzeee's paranoia intensifies as she brandishes a knife. When the situation escalates, there are horrifying consequences…

Hollyoaks star Gemma Merna has praised Carmel McQueen's facial injury storyline, describing it as "absolutely fantastic" for the character.

Carmel is currently struggling to cope following the news that she will be permanently scarred after a tanning machine exploded in her face.

Merna appeared on This Morning today (June 26) and revealed that she is delighted with the emotional plot.

The actress commented: "She is a comedy character to start off with, but I'm quite lucky at Hollyoaks because they do give me the serious storylines to get your teeth into.

"We kind of came to that point really - especially with her husband getting shot - that we didn't really know where to take Carmel. We kind of wanted a hard-hitting storyline that people can look at. It changes the character ongoing as well, so I think this one's absolutely fantastic for her."

She continued: "[Carmel] just doesn't know what to do, because she's always wanted a perfect life, a gorgeous husband, lovely children - and the thing that hits her now is [the fear that] no-one will fancy her anymore, no-one will want to be with her. So it took her to the point that we saw last week where she went to the top of the roof to possibly jump off and commit suicide."

Merna confessed that she cried real-life tears when filming scenes which saw characters looking startled by Carmel's appearance.

She said: "It really upset me at work, to be honest. Because I've always been this bubbly character that's always had make-up on every day and looked glamorous, when I had the [injury] make-up on and they did a scene… some of the characters, the way they looked at me, it really made me cry to be honest, which was fantastic for the scene."

Urging the public not to use sunbeds, Merna added: "Skin cancer awareness is very important to me because I'm naturally a very pale person and I got pressured to go on sunbeds when I was 15 and I used to burn.

"We're such a nation of tanning yourself, but there's great fake tans. It's like, just stay off sunbeds because there's so much damage that can be caused by them."

This is actually some character development for Mercedes.

Hollyoaks aired an explosive storyline twist on Channel 4 this evening (June 26) as scheming Mercedes McQueen stabbed herself in a desperate bid to frame her love rival Mitzeee Minniver.

Mercedes committed the shocking act after knocking Mitzeee (Rachel Shenton) unconscious during a dramatic showdown over the ongoing stalker situation.

With Riley and Lynsey heading for the flat, Mercedes took drastic action to discredit Mitzeee once and for all - plunging a kitchen knife into herself.

Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes, recently caught up with Digital Spy for an exclusive reaction chat about the episode.

What was going through Mercedes's mind when she stabbed herself?
"I think it was pure desperation - the thought of Mitzeee, Riley and Bobby as a family together was too much for her to take, and she just saw red. I don't think it's something that Mercedes thought about or planned - she wouldn't have even dreamed of doing it to herself. But at the time, she saw it as the only way out of the situation."

Were you shocked by the story, or do Mercedes's antics never surprise you now?
"It's always shocking, but then it takes about two seconds for me to snap back to reality and say, 'Do you know what, it really doesn't surprise me - that girl can do anything!'"

Is it complicated to film a stabbing scene, with fake blood to deal with?
"Not really - for one thing, we've got a great continuity team here. But also, as we're a 6.30pm show, there's very little that we can see, so there wasn't loads of blood when we were filming the scenes - they had to pull back on that. So the fake blood was a bit sticky, but it was cool."

How bad is the injury?
"It's pretty bad, and Mercedes is hospitalised. But she does start to feel better and that's when she starts putting it on to get sympathy. She's determined to get what she wants…"

Does Mitzeee get a chance to confront Mercedes over her lies?
"Mitzeee does come to the hospital, but Mercedes is still passed out at that point. By the time Mercedes has woken up, Mitzeee has had to face questioning and go to court."

Does Mercedes feel any guilt? How easy is it for her to keep lying to everyone?
"Mercedes doesn't feel guilt at all - she just wants Riley back and she'll do whatever it takes to get him. I think she finds it easy to lie - hence why she does it so much and so well! She can't tell anybody the truth, so she has no option but to lie. When she needs to turn on the tears, she'll turn them on - especially if it will benefit her."

How does Riley feel about the situation?
"Riley's really sad for Mercedes, but at the same time, he knows Mitzeee. He doesn't think that Mitzeee would do anything like this, but Mercedes is very, very persuasive. Riley is going to be pretty torn and confused over the whole thing."

Does that mean Mercedes might win Riley back?
"I don't know - she's doing her utmost, we can say that! I think in soapland there's always a chance for anything…"

Do you think the viewers will ever forgive Mercedes for this?
"I don't know - it's pretty ruthless! I've been very careful with how I've played some of the scenes, as I don't want to be hated and I don't think Mercedes is a character to be hated. I hope I've done a good job and people still feel sorry for her.

"Mercedes is completely broken over the Riley and Mitzeee situation. It's so funny - I don't know how I do it sometimes, but over the past few weeks the viewers have still been feeling some sympathy for Mercedes. I was getting lots of tweets saying, 'I feel so sorry for Mercedes, she needs to get back with Riley' and 'Mitzeee is being a bitch'. I just thought, 'Oh my God, do you really think that, because even I don't - and I love the character!'"

Do you get on well with Rachel Shenton when filming these scenes?
"Oh, we've got a really good friendship. She's a great girl and I think that's why it makes the scenes so powerful. We'll both get in the zone and talk about everything off-set as well - we try to discuss what we both want to get out of the scenes before we film them."

Does Mercedes dump Rob after the stabbing, or is he still in the mix?
"Rob does send her a message asking if she fancies hooking up again, but Mercedes basically tells him to take the hint and get lost. She's staying with Riley for a little while after the stabbing, and after a while he says, 'Why don't you start staying at Rob's now?' But Mercedes claims that Rob doesn't want to know and turns on the tears again. So Riley thinks that Rob has dumped Mercedes!"

Doctor Browning is also causing some more trouble, isn't he?
"Yeah, and Joe Thompson who plays him is great. He came in about six months ago now, when we established the escorting storyline in the hospital. We loved that block - it was brilliant to film. He came back a little bit later and I always thought that he's a really good addition to the Hollyoaks cast. He's come back for a little bit longer this time to stir things up!"

Away from her own dramas, will Mercedes be supporting Carmel?
"She does a little bit. I think at first, Mercedes felt really sorry for Carmel and gave her lots of sympathy. But as time goes on, her problems are bigger than Carmel's - in her eyes! Mercedes is like, 'Right, come on now, get a grip - it's fine and it's only a little scratch'."

Do you think the McQueens are struggling without Myra around?
"I think it's definitely felt like a loss on-screen and in the family. But that's what the writers wanted it to feel like, so I think they've got out of it what they wanted. It's also put Jacqui in a good position so her character can be explored a bit more. But Myra is definitely coming back."

If things don't work out with Riley, who else might Mercedes be interested in?
"Anybody - absolutely anybody! I think all of her exes have just been so different, so it could be any man in the village. Who the next target would be, I don't know!"

Hollyoaks aired its most shocking storyline twist of the year so far tonight (June 28) as Lynsey Nolan was found dead in E4's first look episode.

Fan favourite Brendan Brady (Emmett Scanlan) made the heartbreaking discovery in a dramatic cliffhanger for the soap, shortly after his war with enemy Sampson had begun to hot up.

Karen Hassan, who played Lynsey, filmed her Hollyoaks exit scenes a few weeks ago, but show bosses kept her departure under wraps so fans would be surprised by the storyline twist.

Lynsey's death will now spark a huge whodunit storyline as a number of suspects had a motive for wanting to get rid of her.

The Irish nurse was always the biggest enemy of serial killer Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle), and with the cunning villain returning to screens in upcoming episodes, fans may wonder whether he had something to do with her passing.

Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) has also become increasingly deranged in recent weeks and wanted to keep Lynsey quiet after she discovered the truth about her stalking of Mitzeee Minniver.
Additionally, Ally Gorman (Dan O'Connor) and bad boy Walker (Neil Newbon) had both found themselves struggling to keep their secrets from an inquisitive Lynsey in recent episodes - providing them with a reason to target her.

Brendan's enemy Sampson is also in the frame as he has been trying to settle a score with the club owner.

Hassan's first Hollyoaks appearance came in 2008 as she starred in the first series of Hollyoaks Later. She then joined the main show as a regular cast member in 2010

Lynsey will be best remembered for her dangerous cat and mouse game with evil Silas, which was the show's biggest storyline last year.

Hollyoaks viewers watching at Channel 4 pace will see Lynsey's final episode tomorrow (June 29) at 6.30pm. Next week's episodes, meanwhile, will see Silas's return scenes.

I really hope that this is the return of Silas; either through him sending someone to finish her off or escaping himself because for her to go through all his torture for months, finally get him banged up only to be offed by some other random psycho would just be too tragic.

Riley being the killer would be strangely ironic.

This is why spoilers are bad, the shocks were just that much better before people could track an actor down and piece everything together over the internet. lol

Great twist, but in the long term Hollyoaks will suffer the loss of quite a popular character because it's definitely in need of them.

Hollyoaks star Gemma Merna has revealed that Ally Gorman becomes a huge source of support to her character Carmel McQueen in upcoming episodes.

Carmel is currently feeling depressed in hospital after a tanning machine accident left her with a permanent facial scar.

As previously reported, Ally (Dan O'Connor) will soon try to show Carmel how much she has to live for by introducing her to his army friends. However, Merna told TV Times that this is just the beginning of a growing friendship between the pair.

Merna explained: "He introduces her to two war veterans. One is in a wheelchair and has no legs, and the other has lost an arm. He says, 'Look, you can still have a life after these kind of things happen'.

"He becomes her rock and when she goes home, he's by her side all the time. She says, 'Please stay with me'. It's good for her to get her feelings out to someone who doesn't judge her, and doesn't know much about what she was like before."

The actress added that moving on from her ordeal may still be a difficult task for Carmel.

Merna said: "She can't even look at herself in the mirror."

Hollyoaks stars Ashley Taylor Dawson and Jessica Fox appear in a special Inside Soap photo shoot this week to celebrate the magazine's 20th anniversary.

The pair, who play long-established characters Darren and Nancy Osborne, take a 'jog down memory lane' in the gym-themed picture - a nod to the Channel 4 show's well-toned cast members.

Darren and Nancy have often featured in the pages of Inside Soap, especially throughout the recent ups and downs in their marriage.

Recalling his first days at Hollyoaks, Dawson told the magazine: "It was very daunting! The set felt like such a big place and I didn't know anyone. But Jimmy McKenna [Jack] soon showed me the ropes, and I realised how fun it is here. Mind you, I'm more like the father now, and he's the son!"

Asked whether life at the soap is as glamorous as fans might expect, he replied: "No, not at all! You wouldn't think that on a normal day of filming when we're stood outside in the freezing cold, going for take after take with snot running down our faces! There's nothing glam about that."

Meanwhile, Fox admitted that she was thrown in at the deep end when she first joined Hollyoaks.

She said: "It was seven years ago now - I came for my audition and then actually started filming the very next day! Unsurprisingly, I was completely unprepared for it, and also scared out of my wits. The whole experience was definitely a rollercoaster ride."

The Hollyoaks photo shoot is part of a collection of exclusive 20th anniversary features in the latest issue of Inside Soap, which is out on shelves now. Stars from Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Neighbours also feature.

Hollyoaks bosses have this evening (June 29) released a new promotional image to tie in with Lynsey Nolan's shock exit.

Lynsey was found dead in the soap's latest episode following days of confrontations with various people in the village.

The new picture confirms the main suspects in the murder mystery as Silas Blissett, Mercedes McQueen, Will Savage, Brendan's enemy Sampson, bad boy Walker and Ally Gorman.

Fans can expect twists and turns over the next few weeks as the villagers try to come to terms with Lynsey's death - and the horror that a killer could be among them.

Meanwhile, Hollyoaks star Bronagh Waugh (Cheryl Brady) has sent Digital Spy a behind-the-scenes picture showing Karen Hassan - who plays Lynsey - after her death scene.

Hollyoaks cast members have today (June 29) paid tribute to their former co-star Karen Hassan following her shock departure from the soap.

The latest episode of the Channel 4 show saw Hassan's popular character Lynsey Nolan found dead in a top-secret storyline twist.

A number of Hassan's closest Hollyoaks friends today spoke exclusively to Digital Spy about her exit, tipping the actress for a bright future.

Jeff Rawle, who plays Lynsey's evil nemesis Silas Blissett, commented: "I would just like to say how brilliant it has been working with Karen. She became an exceptional adversary to Silas and it made all the scenes we had together very strong.

"She's a beautiful person and a brilliant actor. I know everyone on Hollyoaks is really sad to see her go. I hope we get to work on something together again soon."

Bronagh Waugh, better known as Lynsey's best friend Cheryl Brady, said: "Karen and I began our Hollyoaks journey together back in 2008 in Laters. She is a phenomenal actress who always manages to make the audience laugh and cry in equal measure.

"I will miss my friend dearly but I know she is starting a new, very exciting chapter in her career. She was always an integral part of the Bradys and our Hollyoaks family. I can't wait to see what she does next as she's a very special actress! Good luck my wee pal - love you always!"

Rob Norbury, who portrays Lynsey's ex-boyfriend Riley Costello, told us: "Karen is the sexiest nurse in soapland! One of the best, most natural and professional actresses I've ever worked with. She is a real laugh a minute and I'm hoping she can get me a little cameo when she one day ends up in Hollywood! Or can at least put me up on the sofa!"

Jessica Fox - Nancy Osborne in the show - explained: "Lynsey Nolan has been at the centre of some of the best storylines over the last two years and will be very much missed. I have no doubt Karen will go on to do great things and I wish her all the best."

Others who voiced their support for Hassan included PJ Brennan (Doug Carter), Emmett Scanlan (Brendan Brady), Claire Cooper (Jacqui McQueen) and Jennifer Metcalfe (Mercedes McQueen).

Brennan said: "Karen is one of a kind, which makes me a lucky person to have met her. I've made a friend for life, but I'll always miss working opposite her and having her great presence on set and around the studio. I'm excited to see her next move onwards and upwards. Just don't forget us Karen!"

Scanlan commented: "Karen and I came into the show together over two years ago. We've danced many times together as Brendan and Lynsey and it's always been charged - it's always been great fun. A girl like Karen will have many more dancing partners to come in the future."

Meanwhile, Cooper explained: "Karen is an amazing friend and to be able to work with someone you get on with on a personal level and respect on a professional level is fantastic. I have so much time for her and she is so generous as an actor, which is all you could ever wish for. She deserves nothing but the best and she'll be sorely missed."

Finally, Metcalfe enthused: "Karen is amazing to work with, she's an absolute pro and a top girl too. It's been brilliant to work so closely with her recently - she'll be greatly missed."

Airing on E4 last night and on Channel 4 this evening (June 29), a game-changing episode saw Brendan Brady (Emmett Scanlan) discover a lifeless Lynsey on the sofa at their flat - sparking a whodunit storyline.

As show bosses kept Lynsey's exit completely under wraps before broadcast, fans have been left stunned by the tragic turn of events.

Karen Hassan, who played Lynsey, today gave Digital Spy a call to chat about her character's fate and her future career plans.

How do you feel now that your time at Hollyoaks has come to an end?
"I feel really sad, actually - especially as I had my leaving party last night! I'll be really sad to say goodbye to everyone, but I've made some really good friends there and I'm sure we'll all stay in contact. I hope the show will go on and do amazing things."

Was it your choice to leave Hollyoaks now?
"It was a mutual decision, as I was going to be leaving in August anyway but they moved the storyline forward a bit. That's how it is sometimes, so there's no hard feelings whatsoever. I was more than happy with my exit storyline as I always wanted Lynsey to go out with a bang, and she did!

"I think the producers have definitely given Lynsey the send-off that she deserves, so I'm really grateful for that."

Did you have a good turnout for your leaving party?
"Definitely - some people were working, but there was a huge amount of people that turned up last night, so it was really lovely. My friend Claire Cooper, who plays Jacqui, organised it all, God love her! I walked into the restaurant and there were two massive long tables full of people who had come to say goodbye. We partied the night away, so it was really good!"

What has the reaction been like since Lynsey's death aired on the E4 first look last night?

"It's been absolutely crazy on Twitter. I've had lots of messages saying 'Why have you left?' and people have said they're sorry to see the character go. It's lovely to hear people say that Lynsey was their favourite character and stuff like that, so I've had some really nice feedback. A lot of people seem quite shocked by the whole thing!"

Nobody had a clue you were leaving, so was it difficult to keep such a big secret?
"It was, because people kept asking me about my plans for the future and whether I was happy to stay on at Hollyoaks. I already knew that I was leaving, so it was hard not to tell everyone, but the important thing was to stay true to the story.

"I kept that in the back of my head, because we did want this big shock factor. I had to play along with things and keep it to myself for a bit. Obviously my family and friends all knew that I was going, but we had to keep it a secret for the audience."

Was it emotional to film your last scene?
"It was! I was given a really juicy last scene. It's one that the audience hasn't seen yet so I can't really talk much about it, but let's just say that it was very traumatic and tumultuous, so it was a good one to go out on!

"It's going to be one for the audience to look forward to. I had my last day on Monday, so it's all come around quite quickly - I left Hollyoaks on Monday and had my on-screen death on Thursday night! It's been like ripping the plaster off quickly, really."

Have the producers kept you in the dark about where the story is heading, or do you know who killed Lynsey?
"Yeah, I know who did it! I couldn't possibly say because I don't want to spoil the ending for anyone, but there's definitely a few people who are going to have the finger pointed at them.

"It'll be nice to see if the audience can figure it out for themselves. I'll definitely be tuning in to see how it all plays out and keeping up to date on Twitter to see if people are thinking along the right lines…"

You mentioned filming a scene that the audience hasn't seen yet, so is there going to be a flashback to the murder at some point?
"Possibly! I don't know if I can confirm or deny that, but what I can say is that I've done a few juicy scenes that haven't been on screen yet.

"So you'll have to wait and see whether those are flashbacks or something else, but I think the audience will definitely feel like they've got the ending they were looking for. Some of it should be on screen next week, and then more a couple of weeks after that."

Who in particular from the cast are you planning to stay in touch with?
"All of them, really! I mean, certainly everyone who showed up last night for that dinner. I just wish everybody all the best and I'm going to miss everyone. There's a few people who I'm sure I'll still see every week and stay friends with them. You never know, Hollyoaks do bring people back as ghosts every now and again, so maybe it isn't the final farewell!"

You've had a fantastic couple of years on Hollyoaks. What have the highlights been?
"I think the first would probably be when I was first cast in it. I remember walking through the doors and just being so super excited and meeting everyone for the first time - that always sticks in the memory.

"Another is when Paul Marquess, our former producer, brought me up to the office and told me, 'You're going to be involved in this really big storyline'. He told me the layout of the plot and I was just buzzing on the way home!

"And then the exit too, because I really think Lynsey got the send-off she deserves. Those three memories really stick out in the head, but there are so many from the last two years that it's hard to pin-point them. It's been crazy but brilliant."

Will you be staying in Liverpool for now?
"For the time being, I'm staying in Liverpool, but I'll be moving to Cardiff for three weeks to do some filming there from Monday. I'll just go wherever the wind takes me, really! I'm up for moving anywhere."

We'll see you back on our screens in BBC Two thriller The Fall this autumn. What was it like to film the show in Belfast?
"Oh, it was so good. They're editing it all together now and I've been hearing some really good feedback. The word is that the stuff we've done has gone down really well, so I'm so excited to see how it's all put together.

"I love thrillers, so watching it as an audience member would be exciting enough - but to be involved in it is even better. I'll have other projects down the line too, so hopefully they'll all come on screen at a similar time."

You're playing Annie Brawley in The Fall, so is she a small or big role in the show?
"It's actually a part that will hopefully develop more in the second series. But the scenes that I've done are quite hard-hitting, so sometimes even if you don't have the biggest part in a show, you can still make the impact that you want. So I'm more than happy playing that part - I really enjoyed the character."

Are you looking forward to getting back out there and auditioning again?
"Well, first of all I've actually got a few episodes in Casualty - that's what I'm filming in Cardiff and I start there on Monday. So I'm back into the acting game straight away, which is great. I also went for an audition last week, which was scary but brilliant! So I'm waiting to hear back from that as well. I can't wait to start auditioning and going for different parts."

It sounds like you have quite a bit of TV on the way. Would you consider film and theatre as well?
"I would definitely love to do some film and theatre too. That's what I did before I joined Hollyoaks - I did small parts in films and some theatre as well. I think theatre definitely gives you your training as an actor, so I definitely want to get back on the stage at some point. And I suppose film is every actor's dream, so hopefully the opportunities will come up for me - watch this space."

How would you like Lynsey to be remembered?
"Serial killer hunter extraordinaire?! Probably the girl next door with a big heart, Cheryl's bessie mate and the girl who could never really find the man of her dreams!"

From a storyline point of view Silas being the killer would be good but then it would be an anti climax.

Hollyoaks star Gemma Merna has described acid attack victim Katie Piper as "incredible".

Merna, whose character Carmel McQueen is currently struggling to come to terms with disfiguring facial burns, told The Mirror that 26-year-old Piper is "an inspiration".

"Katie is a beautiful girl," said the 28-year-old actress. "What happened to her was horrific. She is such an inspiration, the work she does for charity is incredible."

Piper was left scarred for life after an ex-boyfriend arranged an attack in which acid was thrown in her face. The former TV presenter was blinded in one eye and has undergone countless operations and hours of therapy in order to rebuild her features and regain facial movement.

Merna described preparing for scenes where a tanning lamp exploded in her character's face as "heartbreaking".

"In Hollyoaks, Carmel is this beautiful girl and something horrific happens to her," she said.

"For Carmel it is heartbreaking because she is all about how she looks. She can't cope with her injuries."

In her despair, the character contemplated suicide and had to be talked out of jumping off a building by a friend.

"It's very scary that people get to the point where they can't talk to anybody," Merna continued.

"I have had some amazing messages on Twitter from people saying that it's helped them. Sometimes Hollyoaks is all about comedy, so it's great to get something gritty and meaningful like this."

Merna is also involved in a campaign that seeks to highlight the dangers of sunbeds and supports the push to raise the legal usage age to 18.

"I want to say to people out there, be very, very careful when it comes to electrical tanning," she said.

"I can't tell you how important it is to me to get that message across, especially to young girls. If you put your face in front of an electrical device, these situations can happen."

She added: "Because of peer pressure to look brown I started using sunbeds when I was 15 and I used to burn.

"I had a photo done a few years ago to see how much sun damage I had and it was really shocking. You don't realise how much damage these things do to you. Sunbeds are the main cause of skin cancer. Young girls shouldn't be under any pressure to tan."

Hollyoaks star Hollie-Jay Bowes has revealed that she knows the identity of Lynsey Nolan's killer.

The Channel 4 soap last week launched a whodunit storyline as Lynsey was found dead at her home following confrontations with a number of the village's residents.

Speaking to Digital Spy at T4 on the Beach yesterday (July 1), show stars Mandip Gill, Steven Roberts, Georgia Bourke, Dylan Llewellyn, Abi Phillips and Jazmine Franks all confirmed that they are clueless over the storyline's outcome.

However, asked if she knows who the killer is, Bowes replied: "Yeah, I do! I'm not telling you who it is!"

As her co-stars expressed their surprise, the Michaela McQueen actress laughed: "I know everything - you know I know everything!"

Bourke, who plays troubled teenager Lacey Kane, noted that there are currently "a lot of rumours going around" about the storyline.

However, Bowes replied: "Yeah, but I know who it is! I'm not even going to tell you lot who it is - I'm not telling anyone!"

Hollyoaks serial killer Silas Blissett will escape from hospital later this month.

The evil grandfather, played by Jeff Rawle, is back on screen this week as Texas Longford starts visiting him to seek answers over Lynsey's murder.

As seen in our recent picture preview, Texas (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove) will provoke Silas's rage as they clash during one particular visit.

However, it seems that Silas's return plot will get even more sinister as he later manages to do a disappearing act from the psychiatric hospital.

Now on the loose again, Silas heads to Texas's flat for a terrifying showdown with the student - barging his way in, locking the door and tying her up.

Hollyoaks star Jeff Rawle has revealed his reasons for returning to the soap, explaining that he felt his evil character's story was not over.

The actor recently reprised his role as Silas Blissett, who bowed out from the show last November when he was finally exposed as the village's serial killer.

Rawle told All About Soap: "There was still more to explore, but I became unavailable due to other work commitments. There were always unanswered questions, so it seemed like a good idea to return for this storyline. I hope the fans will be pleased to see him back."

Asked whether this will be Silas's final appearance, he replied: "Probably, but who knows? There's a big question mark hanging over what happens to him. The writers might want to investigate that. I'd be happy to pop back for [another] return as Silas in the future, so I'll keep you posted!"

As previously reported, Silas's return comes as Texas Longford (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove) visits him to get answers over the recent murder of Lynsey Nolan.

Silas then returns to his old tricks by playing mind games, warning that another woman will be killed and that Will Savage (James Atherton) could be responsible.

Rawle continued: "He uses that as another bait. Silas knows that Texas and Will are close, so he points the finger of suspicion his way. It isn't just Will, though - Silas is out to put quite a few people in the frame, no-one is safe.

"You can never be sure what's going through Silas's mind. People who are watching will have to decide for themselves what's the truth and what's utter poppycock!"

Hollyoaks fans will also see Silas escape from the psychiatric hospital as the storyline continues.

Hollyoaks student Esther Bloom enjoys a lucrative opportunity next week as she becomes an intern at fashion magazine Company.

Esther travels down to London for the placement alongside sixth-former George Smith (Steven Roberts), feeling excited and nervous about the challenges ahead.

While George embarks on an office romance with fellow intern Ryan, Esther nearly ends her career by ruining a fashion piece.

Digital Spy recently chatted to Jazmine Franks, who plays Esther, to hear about the storyline and her character's future.

What was it like to film these special Company magazine episodes?
"It was so much fun. Obviously we went down to London to film them, so that was really good. It was tiring too, because we had to fit so much in, but we really enjoyed it and it was a laugh. I was running around Carnaby Street in my heels in the rain at one point!

"Filming the episodes, I got on really well with Steven, who plays George. And it was a nice change for us to be in a completely different set and a completely different environment."

How does Esther feel about taking the trip to London?
"I'd say she's pretty nervous. For Esther, this is massive and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her. This isn't ever going to come round again, so she is nervous but also a little bit excited. She's probably over the moon that she's got George to go down there with, so she's not doing it by herself."

Does Esther make a good first impression at the magazine?
"Esther never finds it easy to fit in, whatever she does! She turns up on her first day at the magazine, but she's chosen completely the wrong clothes. Even though they all work for a fashion magazine, the staff are wearing clothes which are quite casual and practical.

"But Esther turns up in high heels and a skirt - she's wearing jewellery too, and she has her hair and make-up done. She sticks out like a sore thumb!"

Do Esther and George have any rivalry as they settle in at the magazine?
"The two characters are both very sure of themselves, but I wouldn't say there's any rivalry. There's a little bit of jealousy when Esther gets to go to a fashion shoot, and then again when George gets to go off and do a style shoot. So there's a bit of jealousy, but I think they also make a great team."

Esther also makes a terrible mistake, doesn't she?
"She does! She couldn't just go and do everything properly and come out with a gold star, could she? She had to mess something up! So she takes a one-off piece which is needed for a style shoot the next day, she wears it and then she rips it…"

Does she tell the truth about what happened?
"Yeah, she does have to confess to what she's done. I don't think she's a very good liar, so I think even if she tried to make up a story, she'd get caught out! She confesses everything and it doesn't go very well…"

Is George angry with her?
"He doesn't shout or anything, but he's not impressed by what's happened. He's just thinking, 'Oh, Esther, not again! You've messed something up again!'"

Does Esther play any part in George's romance storyline with Ryan?
"Oh, she meddles - of course she does. She gets involved, sticks her oar in and tells them what she thinks they should do. She tries to give advice, but it usually backfires!"

Are you interested in fashion in real life?
"No, I'm completely different to Esther. Don't get me wrong, I love shopping and I love clothes, but I'll just stick on a pair of trackies and a jumper. I'm not bothered at all - I wish I was. Maybe I'll start becoming interested in fashion!"

What's coming up next for Esther?
"Well, Esther has finished school so she'll be going to the Hollyoaks sixth form. I don't really know what we can expect from Esther, but hopefully there'll be a storyline there for her.

"I hope she goes on being the way she is. I love how Esther is written for by the writers - she is sure of herself and she's not bothered that she stands out. She doesn't want to fit in with the sixth-formers."

Esther seems to be one of the few characters who isn't under Maddie's spell…
"I love that Esther's the only one who sees Maddie for who she is. At the same time though, Maddie can be a total cow to her, but Esther will still try to see the best in her. You'll see that in the Abersoch episodes that are coming up later this month."

As Esther is part of the Abersoch episodes, does that mean she's becoming one of the gang?
"Esther goes to Abersoch mainly because she's got this friendship with George now - they've become quite close. She does like being with the sixth-formers when she's there, but she wouldn't be bothered if she wasn't!"

Esther's romance with Tilly went wrong, so would you like to see another love interest for her?
"I would absolutely love for Esther to have a love interest. One that doesn't last for just a week this time! I'd really like that. It'd be a challenge for me, and I think it'd make the audience warm to her more as well."

How are you finding your time at Hollyoaks in general? Has the show changed things for you?
"I absolutely love being here. It hasn't really changed things that much for me, apart from the fact that I now live in Liverpool. But I still have my friends at home, and I still go home and see them a lot.

"The main change is that I'm now at work when I'd been at university in Leeds beforehand. I was lying in bed until midday most days - now I have to get up at 6.30am to be in work for 7.30am!"

How did you get the part?
"I'd been auditioning for roles since I was young. The audition for Hollyoaks came up, but afterwards I didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks. Then I got a recall for the part, so I came up and then I didn't hear anything for another five weeks.

"That was quite a long time, so I just brushed it under the carpet and thought that I hadn't got the part. I got my head down at university, got back into my work and then I just got the phone call saying, 'We need you to come for hair and make-up fittings in three days' time!'"

Esther seems to be one of the teens that the audience really likes, so you must be pleased with the reaction to her.
"I really like the reactions the audience have to Esther. I think she is so real and she is like a normal teenager. She's average - she's not a cow, she's not overly nice, she's just normal and I think that's why people can relate to her a lot more."

Is there a dream storyline you'd love to play?
"I'd be grateful for anything! I'd love Esther to have a love interest, to do well in fashion at college and I'd love for there to be more family stuff with the Osbornes, because I absolutely love working with Helen and Jimmy."
