Just watched ep01:


I thought it was a good premiere episode, but I totally misunderstood the plan of the season. I thought the bottom two queens would LSFYL and then everyone else would decide who goes home...I actually like the real concept more though, and I thought the top two was well-justified.

At first I thought Roxxxy's burlesque performance was going to be basic, but she did really well. The wig reveal was so soon but I wasn't mad at it at all. Tatianna was great. Haters are going to hate (lmao) but she is talented, and I'm so happy she's back...I wonder if she would've chose Coco to go home as well.

Michelle really was such a cow towards Adore. I get that her dress was ugly, but there was no need for her to be so cold. Adore acted the exact same way as she would in season 6 if she were getting critiqued, so I understand why she was so hurt by Michelle throwing it back in her face and assuming that she didn't care. Ugh, I officially dislike Michelle...for now :p And Raven Symone is so annoying. She was the first judge of the season, yet she still couldn't get some of the queens names right when she hosted the Q&A at the red carpet premiere, presumed that some of the queens had already won their seasons and obviously wasn't/isn't a fan of Drag Race. Never come back plz.

I [think the talent-show itself was quite good. I thought everyone did quite well, and it was more of a case of people doing better than others. It's a shame Adore had to be in the bottom three based on her outfit alone, Coco's performance was okay but was missing a spark and Phi Phi would've been fine had she not sang acapella. I didn't get Detox's performance but I understand why other people would like it. I forgot Alaska's but thought it was okay at the time, but not as good as Adore's song/performance. Katya's was quite basic but still somewhat impressive. Ginger wasn't too good to start off with but I decided I liked it once it had finished. Alyssa's was actually really fun and well put together.

I'm happy that Coco has the chance to seek 'revenge'. I found it funny how she was being so polite once she was eliminated, but was all 'I'm not holding **** back...at all :smug:' when she found out she could come back :p

I loved it generally but still hate the new format - or at least I wouldn't mind it if it weren't for this silly revenge twist on top :( I really don't want Coco back. Ever. At all. Not even on Untucked. Girl is just immature and cold. And not all that talented?

And I did feel awful for Adore but can see why her fashion's being critiqued... but I dunno, Michelle's trying too hard lately.

Although Roxxxy's personality has improved greatly, the clear production obsession with her hasn't. She wasn't in the Top 2 imo.

Alyssa beating Coco is slightly poetic but this redemption island twist seems a mess and I'm here for it if it saves my faves.

They're talented though and they put on the best show. Which is what the point of a talent show is. You don't go to one and go "hmm the girl who performed second had the best voice", you go "oh ok that bitch at the end who snatched my weave wins". No one really expected it from them, whereas Adore, Alaska and Ginger have established careers in pop music or musical theatre and didn't quite deliver 10/10 performances.

Only disappointing performances (aside from Coco's poor one) for me were Katya's (the exorcist walk was fun but her whole show left me bored) and Detox's (although I am a sucker for neon paint). Even thought Phi Phi was good but made a huge error with the lack of music.

ep02 thoughts:

I'm gutted that Tatianna has gone so early, and I'm quite annoyed with Adore quitting. Both are understandable considering that Tati was the worst and Adore just wasn't capable of handling the competition, but the two of them were among my absolute favourites so it sucks nonetheless.

I'm glad they showed Adore and Michelle talking things out because it was quite a severe problem that caused a lot of outrage online, and I know Michelle has been getting a lot of hate because of it so I hope after this episode the situation is just put to bed...I actually want harsh critiques this season to be honest.

Snatch Game is a tired concept. I don't necessarily think it's fair either because it's quite obvious that the challenge itself is edited beyond its reality. Phi Phi wasn't as good/funny as Alyssa or Ginger imo. However, the top two was completely fair. I loved Katya as Bjork, and Alaska was quite funny even though I had no idea who Mae West was before this episode. Detox was rightfully in the bottom three but her runway look was one for the ages. I think it might be one of my favourite looks (definitely of hers) in a long time.

I can't argue with the decision to get rid of Tati because the criterion in which they chose to follow definitely alludes to Tati being the worst, though I do think Roxxxy's snatch was worse tha Tati's. I'm just happy there is a chance she can return :love: Gone too soon :(

Ep 2 Thoughts

Glad they show who the losing lipsyncher from last week would have eliminated, and am shocked that Tatianna chose Coco tbh, I was so sure she'd go for Phi Phi.

I'm liking Ru a lot more this season - she's trying to be funny for the first time in like two years.

Adore :( this is the first ever 'walk' queen isn't it? She probably feels a bit embarrassed now because it's such a weak way to go. And I think there could've been a compromise between staying true to her drag and stepping it up. Teared up at her hugs with Michelle though <3

Alyssa as Joan. OMFG. I am in love. I wasn't sure about Alyssa going into AS2 because I think she's great for lipsyncs, dances and talking heads but not much else. But this was great for her. And she's really making AS2 for me right now. I hope she goes right to the end.

Katya's Bjork was funny but nothing like Bjork :think: so idk what the point is if it's just "crown the funniest queen".

The Phi Phi edit... idk... I'm not sure I buy it... I wanted to hate her coming into this series but I think they're being a bit unfair to her again (like I'm sure all of the queens asked her for her thoughts, rather than the whole presented "Phi Phi is going around and playing mindgames" edit). And the only talking head that supported the "phi phi is being *****!!" was Tatianna's who...let's face it... hasn't got a great track record of being the moral center of the show.

Tati was shaken by Raven </3 which is annoying bc I'm going super off Raven lately with her ****ing one-track perception of drag. But then again Tati chose a terrible celebrity (I mean she's sf boring/childlike, where was the humour supposed to come from?) and did the best she could with her.

Detox sucked. Roxxxy was OK but clearly last-minute. Phi Phi was decent. Ginger was funny. I actually enjoyed Tatianna corpsing when Detox asked her about the dog's body more than anything Detox did.

But this 100% should've been an Alaska/Alyssa top two and I would've loved to have seen Alyssa win and send home Detox.

Shangela...well...that was...that happened... :shrug: (I'll wait for her to be cast in Allstars 3).

This week's runway :worship: omfg. One of the best ever weeks. Alaska's, Detox's, Roxxxy's, Tati's, Katya's :love: ... even Michelle looked amazing. And I stan Todrick's chrome bowtie. But yes. A latex fantasy this week. Alaska and Detox's may well be some of my favourite runways of all time, definitely level with Violet's S&M outfit and Max's fall week one runway in terms of sheer editorial amazingness.

Detox just assuming she's safe because of her runway really undid how amazing the runway was for me :shrug: and tbh I think Tatianna was the easy casualty of a heavy "rolaskatox drama" edit. And I'm glad Tatianna clocked Alaska for it. I know Katya probably made the same decision though :(

I hope it's not a straight "whoever wins the lipsync of the eliminated queens comes back and sends home whoever sent them home" thing because:
a) Coco would probably win. And coco is terrible.
b) Roxxxy would go home. And roxxxy is not terrible.

I watched the first two (?) I think episodes of S7, I just really couldn't get into it. Like you say the line up seemed quite poor besides Katya but I really wanna get into it to have the Katya experience properly.

Yeah thats true actually, she already kinda has her brand and identity and so couldn't really gain all too much from being there and probably couldn't offer all that much to the show.

I started season two yesterday, just finished the fourth episode which was snatch game.
Tatianna, Jujubee and Tyra are my favourites at the moment but tbf I don't really dislike anyone apart from Morgan, I disliked Raven at first but she doesn't bother me anymore. I hated how the queens berated Mystique for her weight though.

This season seems quite underrated so far, I'm enjoying it TBH but then again I've enjoyed every season I've seen.

I'm getting somewhat annoyed with how the editing cuts to the judges reactions as an indicator to who is doing well and who isn't. I don't find it to be accurate some of the time.

Anyway, ep03 thoughts:

The challenge was great, and mostly everyone did well. Katya was the weakest but I can't see what else she could've done with Princess Diana. I didn't think much of Phi Phi or Alaska's performances to be honest, but I understand why they were safe. Alyssa and Detox as the top two is justified. I enjoyed their peformances the most.

I think most people knew that there would come a time where someone would not eliminate a queen based on critique, and I'm kind of glad it happened. Only because it would've been boringly predictable on a week to week basis if that were the case. On the contrary, it is quite predictable that the time it happened was to keep a fan-favourite over an underdog, especially since the person who 'won' the lip-sync was somebody who (all of a sudden) did not want to use the usual formula. Coincidence? I think not. I thought Alyssa was ****ed the minute she came out on the runway, and I'm shocked she wasn't read to filth as a result. I still love her regardless, and I'm glad she did well.

I think her future in the competition is jeopardy though. I don't think the other queens will react well to her not getting rid of Katya. If someone like Phi Phi manages to win the challenge/lip-sync at one point where Alyssa is in the bottom then she's gone, but I hope it works out the other way round and Alyssa goes on some sort of winning streak. I know we're suppose to be warming to Phi Phi more this season but I just can't. The editing is still unfairly portraying to have villainous tendancies, but aside from that I just find her quite annoying and lacklustre. Especially in a season full of stars.

P.S: Detox ****ing slayed the runway again, even though cap made her look somewhat unpolished. It was still fantastic.

Katya was kind of set up for a fall here, nobody could have done anything with that Diana bit so the imbalance of it all ruined what would have been a good challenge. TBH I don't mind Ginger being eliminated, she was great in S7 but she's been underwhelming so far in All Stars while Katya's just had one bad week off the back of two good ones. Alyssa made the right choice although I think the other queens might make her Public Enemy no.1 for it. Here for her overcoming all odds and snatching a top 3 placing.

I've finished AS1. This was the worst season I've seen by far, I think it could've been fantastic though had the pairs twist not have happened. It's that what ruined the series as people like Manila and I don't even think Latrice would've gone so early on and people like Shannel wouldn't have got so far. Not really any stand out favourites besides Raven who I preferred much more this time round than her appearance on S2. Chad is such a meh winner, he's so forgettable. I didn't like Yara and Alexis time round either which was quite odd because I really liked both of them in S3.
