Hollyoaks star Stephanie Waring has revealed she doesn't want to get married as it feels too grown-up.

The 33-year-old mother-of-two, who plays soap diva Cindy Cunningham in the show, lives with her boyfriend but doesn't dream of a fairytale wedding.

Stephanie revealed: "I've never had that thing where I want to get married and have a husband and children. I mean I've got two kids, but...

"Do you know what it is, it seems so grown up to me. It's like you get married and then that's it. And I know I'm 34 next month and maybe I should start thinking about that, but to me it just seems really grown up. I'm not ready yet!"

Viewers see a softer side to Cindy when she realises she still loves Darren as she is helping him plan a secret wedding for Nancy. Cindy previously dumped Darren to marry a wealthy sugar daddy.

Stephanie said: "She says to Darren, 'When you asked me to marry you I should have yes' and she realises she made the biggest mistake of her life. But she wants him to be happy."

The actress revealed she has enjoyed playing that side of Cindy.

She said: "I've really enjoyed it because I remember years ago when I was in the show when it first started and Cindy was so real. She was this 16-year-old girl, she got pregnant and she wasn't a b**** and she got caught up in a terrible relationship with her boyfriend at the time, and back then it was all emotional and real.

"So I've not got to do that for a while, because the character has evolved into this super b****, well a fun b****, so exploring that vulnerable side has been really interesting and I'd like to do more."

I agree, seems like storylines are finishing too quick at the moment and because the cast is too big it means that we do not see continuation of certain storylines for a while e.g. the Annalise and Scott thing has been totally forgotten..

Emma Smithwick has declared her desire to introduce more "strong, smart" women to Hollyoaks.

The Channel 4 soap's producer hopes that she can transform viewers' perceptions of female characters.

Recalling her thoughts when she took on her role last year, Smithwick told the Radio Times: "There weren't enough strong, smart and intelligent women for my liking," she says. "At a stretch, I might have considered having a drink with Texas.

"I'm passionate about the portrayal of women in the media in general and specifically on television that's aimed at a younger audience. I'm determined to be part of the solution and not part of the problem."

She continued: "I want to redefine what sexy and glamorous is in Hollyoaks. I don't want girls just to watch and think, 'I want that outfit' or 'I like her hair'. I'd like them to see it as an emotional encyclopedia that's relevant to the changes and issues in their lives.

"I want to look at the sophisticated social hierarchies of teenage girls, at their insecurities, at the challenges of growing up in contemporary Britain. The responsibility is enormous but the pay-off is huge."

I've watched a couple of episodes this week for the first time in a long while. If the show was focussed on the Darren/Nancy/Cindy stuff with Lindsey, Frankie and Jack etc it would be watchable because they're finally getting stories. But I seriously can't be doing with the major majority of all the other characters. I just don't see where the logic is of having these cast heaving with what must be 50+ useless characters who add nothing.

Then they've got people like Tony and Diane on the payroll and never even use them. Diane should have been given Gabby's role in the show, going out with Tony and becoming a central character. She was great as Jacqui in Brookside.

But it also seems they've hit reset on Mercedes AGAIN. Gone back to her slutty origins, where no doubt we'll get another storyline of her messing up her life, learning her lesson before they RESET again.

The show needs sorting out, probably needs to go off air for a bit and then come back minus all the irritant screentime hoggers.

And that new EP Emma Whatsherface sounds three sheets to the wind, she's saying one thing and the show is doing another. lol

Jorgie Porter has insisted that she has no plans to leave Hollyoaks in the near future.

The actress, who plays Theresa McQueen and is currently a favourite to win Dancing On Ice, admitted that never plans too far ahead.

"Hollywood sounds lovely, but you know, I never thought I'd get to do what I'm doing. I never think, 'I'm going to do this,' because you can set yourself up for a fall," Porter told PA.

"I've never been one of those people who set their minds on winning things, because I'd be frustrated in the end. So I go into things with an open mind; I'm just going to do things that make me happy. If something isn't making me happy, then I'll change what I'm doing.

"You never know what might come along - just go with the flow. I've achieved a lot because I never thought I'd be an actress but I am one. I've had my first TV break with Hollyoaks, but you never know what might happen. I don't want to say no to anything that might challenge me."

I dont think its consistency in this case. They havnt allowed her character to develop because HO believe people like 'typical Mercedes' but its just annoying and boring now.

I was hoping having the baby wed see a really decent side to her, with Riley. But nope, straight back in the sack with somebody else. Even though just a couple weeks before she nearly died. :rolleyes:

They really have lost all inspiration for the character.
But, as much as I hate having to say this, I think the McQueen's in general have ran out of steam.
I'm sure a good writer could make them great again but Carmel and Mercedes seem to be stuck in a repetitive rut that they're constantly recycling. John Paul and Tina are gone. Bart really doesn't fit in with the family and would have been better off as a stand alone and Myra never gets used. The Calvin storyline ruined anything likeable about Theresa and now I find her a nuisance.
They've done something new with Jacqui and given her more longevity. They've actually developed her character from her relationship with Tony and through this whole rape thing so they can seemingly do new things with this character but the rest of them seem to be exhausted now.

Two reasons why I love this story.

One... Darren and Nancy are fantastic characters and they can entertain me without the need for big dramatic stories.

Two... Because it's not about the teens.

No I didn't watch E4 due to Emmerdale:joker:.

ES is reading the Digital Spy forums and is aware on Twitter etc of criticism relating to the teens being overused, more screentime for the older characters etc and she has replied to me a few times which has been nice, so I hope she takes all these points on board.

I also read in an interview in the Radio Times that she might be planning to axe the calendars, which is actually a good idea because of the reputation the show gets, although that is through fault of their own sometimes casting actors mainly on looks and not acting ability:(.

Hollyoaks star Rob Norbury has revealed that his character Riley Costello does not rule out a reunion with ex-fiancée Mercedes McQueen when he returns to the village.

Riley has been away in Leeds since New Year's Eve, when he left Chester for a fresh start with his baby son Bobby and brother Seth.

However, Riley makes a comeback later this month after Mercy's sister Jacqui (Claire Cooper) gets in touch with him, revealing how much his ex has been struggling in his absence.

Mercy (Jennifer Metcalfe) is delighted by Riley's return and later begs him to take her back, wanting him to forgive her affair with his dad Carl.

Norbury told All About Soap of Riley's reaction: "It's tough - this is someone he gave up his life for and wanted to marry. He's fathered a child with her, but things have changed. He's definitely got a lot of thinking to do.

"It's a big ask - he could maybe forgive, but he'll never forget. He's doing okay on his own, he's come back stronger, but he isn't totally against getting back with Mercedes. He just wonders if he's actually considering it for the right reasons."

Discussing how Riley has changed, the actor said: "Taking care of a baby on his own isn't easy, but it's been rewarding. It's made him grow up a bit and helped take his mind off things. It's probably a blessing in disguise."

C4 Tues 28th Feb: Blood-thirsty Jacqui arrives at the McQueens to take Mercedes to task. Jacqui, Carmel and Myra tear a strip off home-wrecker Mercy and for once mild-mannered Carmel truly lets rip. And new business partners Doug and Ste's first day trading ends in disaster.

C4 Weds 29th Feb: Hung-over Texas wakes in bed with Jodie and wonders what the hell happened last night. Myra lays down the law with Mercedes: fix things with Jacqui or you're out of the family.

C4 Thurs 1st March: Mitzeee tries to persuade Mercedes to get out of Riley's life, but Mercy begs Riley to take her back. Is that what he's come back for? Elsewhere, Jodie, Texas and Dodger try to score Jodie a high dance grade.

I like the idea of them bringing her in to develop the Kane family, but once again it is another number to a very huge cast.

I wonder if she will be a love interest of Esther? Esther has not had a storyline of her own for a while now, it's a shame because I think she is the best teen too.

If they are going to keep Ester and actually invest in some quality writing I'd love to see it work.

Was a great ep tonight overall. Loved Frankie standing up to the evil mother and Nancy and Darren were great as always. But why oh why did they have to cut to the teens at that emotional moment? It was such a pointless scene and then Jono turns up at the vows as well. It's like a slap in the face.

There's just too many characters to invest in for them to reach any kind of quality.

We got to know all of the previous students and teens through their slow introduction and storylines over a certain period. Throwing a huge crowd of strangers into the show within such a short space of time has just zoned me out.

She kisses Rhys when he tries to talk some sense into her, Jacqui finds out and of course is not happy and then she tells the rest of the McQueen's, who are also not happy, tell a few home truths and they're just about ready to disown her until Mercedes reveals the truth about her prostitution antics.

In a way I am glad that Hollyoaks has a good PR department who are good at embargos because the press don't take much notice of the show tbh and shows like Corrie have had big spoilers all over the press, which have turned out to be true which then causes less more suspense for the viewers.

We didn't know that Clare was alive until the next episode and Jamie Lomas had already started filming last year in secret until the press spotted him at Hollyoaks HQ.

I am glad that Margaret saw sense before leaving and made up with Nancy, whilst accepting her marriage to Darren at last.

Cheryl had a good scene with Cindy, she's been busy with her studying and has been a bit bitchy/selfish but has redeemed herself.

Brendan starting on Scott for getting jiggy with Cheryl and then Joel jumping in was funny:joker:. I love how Mitzeee tries to keep them in track but Joel is no match for BB!

Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter has admitted that she was sad when her character Theresa McQueen broke up with Will Savage.

The pair ended their relationship in late December after drifting apart once Will had enrolled at Hollyoaks Community College.

In real life, Porter has been dating co-star James Atherton - who plays Will - for the past few months.

Porter told Inside Soap: "I was gutted when Will and Theresa split up. It wasn't just because I couldn't work with my boyfriend more, but also because James is such a great actor.

"I never thought in my life that I'd enjoy working with a boyfriend, but I absolutely love it. So both me and James really want Theresa and Will to get back together."

Theresa's old spark with Joel Dexter (Andrew Still) is about to be revisited on screen following his return to the village.

Hollyoaks star Claire Cooper has confirmed that the McQueen clan will be at "breaking point" in upcoming episodes of the soap.

The family have turbulent times ahead over the next few weeks as Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) lets her life spiral out of control, with devastating consequences for her loved ones.

Seeing how much Mercedes is missing her ex-fiancé Riley Costello (Rob Norbury) and their baby son Bobby, Cooper's character Jacqui decides to make contact with the footballer.

However, while Jacqui is away visiting Riley, Mercedes hits a new low by trying to kiss her sister's husband Rhys (Andrew Moss).

Cooper told Soaplife: "Jacqui knows something has to be done, and she's going to try and get Bobby back. She asks Rhys to keep Mercy company while she's gone."

Discussing the kiss, she continued: "Rhys tells Jacqui himself. He was horrified it happened. Jacqui goes round to the McQueens' house and has a massive argument with Mercy. She goes through all the things Mercy's done wrong in the past. In fact, all the McQueens join in - even Carmel.

I didn't think bipolar, but I did think she was acting very odd, especially when she's the one who organised the house sale.

I think you may have a point, her behaviour is very similar to some who suffer with bipolar. I would love to see Hollyoaks tackle such an important

They have two of the best new actors in Callum & Ash who could carry it off brilliantly, and I also think the guy playing George is an excellent actor. The character George could be the one that gets through to Callum's mum.

Hollyoaks bosses have announced that stars from the soap will host a sponsored sleep-out next week to raise money for homelessness charity Centrepoint.

Cast and crew will brace themselves for a cold night on Thursday, March 1 as they sleep in the centre of Hollyoaks village at the show's base in Childwall, Liverpool.

Hollyoaks stars are taking on the challenge to tie in with the drama's ongoing homelessness storyline, which recently saw teenager George Smith (Steven Roberts) and his friend Phoebe (Mandip Gill) struggling with life on the streets.

Show chiefs have promised that the upcoming event "will deliver surprises and guest appearances" as Hollyoaks and Centrepoint aim to raise money throughout the night and beyond.

Centrepoint's chief executive Seyi Obakin commented: "We're delighted that Hollyoaks village is hosting a sleep-out. Thanks to the storyline that has unfolded over the last few months, a large audience of young people is more aware of homelessness - an issue over 80,000 of their peers face every year across the UK.

"Sleeping out won't be easy for the cast, but it will give them a glimpse of what so many young people go through every night. We urge you to support them, so we can give young people the support they need to turn their lives around."

Hollyoaks has also confirmed that George's storyline is far from over, as next month viewers will see Phoebe betray the sixth former by leading him straight back into the hands of evil Deena (Sian Breckin) and Graham (Steven Marsh).

Fans will remember that the twisted pair recently held George and Phoebe against their will before they managed to escape. The return of the villains will result in a dramatic and harrowing week for George.

To help raise money ahead of the upcoming sleep-out, Centrepoint are also offering one fan and four friends the chance to win a Hollyoaks set tour if they donate via text to the charity. Details of the competition can be found on the Centrepoint website.

A Justgiving site will be available to make donations from Tuesday, February 28 when the text to donate competition closes.

Hollyoaks star Rob Norbury has said that there is "unfinished business" between his character Riley Costello and glamour girl Mitzeee Minniver.

Riley returns to the village next week after Jacqui McQueen (Claire Cooper) makes contact with him and reveals how much his ex-fiancée Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) has been struggling in his absence.

Norbury told TV Times that Riley is sceptical when Mercedes later asks him for another chance, but decides to stay in the area for longer than planned due to Mitzeee (Rachel Shenton).

"[Mercedes is] trying to prove that she can be the perfect girl, but too much has gone on for Riley to buy into that," Norbury explained. "He wants to tie up some loose ends in Hollyoaks, then head off."

He added: "Riley prolongs his stay because of his closeness to Mitzeee. There's a bit of unfinished business there."

Norbury also revealed that Jacqui is equally suspicious of Mercedes's intentions when the feisty McQueen claims to want a happy family life.

Hollyoaks star Mandip Gill has revealed that her character Phoebe Jackson is in a desperate situation when she resorts to betraying her loyal friend George Smith.

As first reported last week, sixth former George (Steven Roberts) will soon receive a nasty surprise as Phoebe returns and leads him straight back into the hands of evil Deena, played by Sian Breckin.

Deena held Phoebe and George captive in dramatic scenes earlier this month. The pair eventually escaped but were separated immediately afterwards.

Gill told Inside Soap: "George thought Phoebe had got away from danger after he found her friendship bracelet in the place where they used to hang out.

"In reality, she's been trapped in Deena and Graham's house all this time. Deena has told Phoebe that she'll hurt her dog if she doesn't retrieve George.

"That dog, Thunder, is all Phoebe has in the whole world. When the poor little thing's threatened, Phoebe crumbles. She feels let down by George because he's gone - she doesn't realise he's been trying to find her."

Show bosses have confirmed that there are harrowing scenes on the way for George as he finds himself in Deena's clutches once again..

RE George storyline..

In my soap magazine it says :- "As Graham overpowers George, a petrified Phoebe can only listen behind a locked door to the terrified student's cries"

And then for the two week break down, on the same date it says... "March 13:- George is forced to face the darkest moment of his life".

Could this be a sexual abuse storyline? We know that Hollyoaks and C4 are not afraid to be controversial and although it is shown at 6:30, if portrayed sensitively it could be a good plot? Poor George if what I am speculating is true:(.

Hollyoaks will film more episodes out on location in Abersoch later this year, it has been revealed.

The soap's sixth form characters will head back to the Welsh seaside resort this summer for more fun in the sun.

Hollyoaks bosses announced the news on the show's Facebook page this afternoon (March 6).

The Channel 4 drama previously aired special Abersoch episodes last June, which introduced the characters of Tilly (Lucy Dixon), Jono (Dylan Llewellyn) and Maddie (Scarlett Bowman).

Sinead (Stephanie Davis), Bart (Jonny Clarke), Ruby (Anna Shaffer) and Esther (Jazmine Franks) all headed off to the resort to party with the trio, but the trip ended badly when Sinead almost drowned after getting drunk on the beach.

Storyline details for the return to Abersoch will be revealed later this year.

Hollyoaks' human trafficking storyline delivered strong ratings to E4's first look screening on Tuesday evening (March 6), overnight figures show.

Hollyoaks attracted 677k (3.1%) at 7pm on E4 as viewers tuned in to find out what would happen to troubled George after he came face-to-face with evil Deena. A further 105k (0.4%) watched the episode on E4+1.

Earlier, the show's main airing on Channel 4 pulled in 1.19m (5.9%) at 6.30pm and 120k (0.5%) on timeshift.

Hollyoaks student Rob Edwards will feel like an "idiot" after trying to move on quickly from girlfriend Annalise Appleton, it has been revealed.

As first reported last month, Rob's relationship with Annalise (Tamaryn Payne) is about to come to an end on screen, but he tries to bounce back by chatting up Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter) at the SU Bar.

However, the jock's antics don't go down well with his friend and rugby team-mate Will Savage, who is still protective over Theresa following their recent split.

James Atherton, who plays Will, told TV Times that Rob's antics are partly motivated by jealousy - as he has started to struggle on the rugby pitch compared to his mate.

Atherton explained: "Rob picked up an injury from the car accident and has never really recovered from it, whereas Will's getting better and better. So there's an element of jealousy from Rob.

"There's a bit of a mates' code that Rob has broken. It all kicks off."

Atherton added that Rob (David Atkins) soon learns his lesson and realises how much he misses Annalise. However, whether the pair reunite remains to be seen.

"Barney and Will end up tying Rob to a chair and make him get in touch with his feelings," Atherton said. "He admits how he really feels about Annalise, and realises he's been an idiot."

Former Hollyoaks star Carley Stenson is to join the cast of Shrek The Musical.

The actress - currently starring in Legally Blonde The Musical - will take over from Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh as green-skinned Princess Fiona.

Carley, who found fame as Steph Cunningham in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, will start when Kimberley bows out in May.

She will appear opposite Dean Chisnall as Shrek and Richard Blackwood as Donkey in the production, which has extended its run until the end of March next year.

Carley, 29, has played the lead role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde for a number of months and will take over as Princess Fiona on May 23.

Amanda Holden was the first actress to take the role in the West End production of Shrek, but left when she became pregnant last year.

More than half a million people have seen the show, based on the hit animated film, since it opened in May.

Troubled teen George ran away from home while battling confusion about his sexuality and has been sleeping rough with friend Phoebe.

Steven told Inside Soap magazine his character is "terrified" when he is held captive by human traffickers.

He said: "It's been hinted at in previous episodes that Deena and Graham want to force George and Phoebe into prostitution.

"Their intentions become clearer when Deena announces that a man called Mr Evans is coming to visit George - and it's obvious that they won't just be playing card games together.

"George is terrified at the prospect. He's imprisoned with no way to escape."

Friend Phoebe (Mandip Gill) betrayed George by helping lure him back to Deena, but she ends up being held captive as well.

Steven revealed: "Phoebe's the stronger one of the two of them, so Deena drugs her. She begins to slip in and out of consciousness as a result, and George's only lifeline is slipping away before his eyes.

"The episodes are quite shocking and dramatic. George's friends in the village realise that he's gone missing - so it's a matter of if, how and when he might resurface that the audience will have to watch out for."
