Barcelona putting through an official complaint to UEFA over AC Milan's pitch last night, how pathetic:rolleyes:.

I saw nothing wrong with it and Barcelona are probably furious that Milan did not bow down to them. Good stat that Milan are the first team to have stopped them scoring in the CL for 2 and a half years!

Lucky breaks even themselves out - Sir Alex Ferguson
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson insists contentious refereeing decisions even themselves out over the course of a season.

Fulham were denied a late penalty in the 1-0 loss at Old Trafford as United moved three points clear of Manchester City at the Premier League summit.

"It evens itself out over a season and that will never change," said Ferguson, whose club have won 19 league titles.

"You get breaks here and there. Every club gets good breaks, bad breaks."

Fulham wanted a spot-kick in the 87th minute on Monday when Michael Carrick appeared to trip Danny Murphy in the box.

“City could have had a penalty kick against them at Stoke as everyone saw. We had a terrible decision at Old Trafford when Newcastle got a penalty kick”

But referee Michael Oliver rejected their appeals, as he did when United felt Stephen Kelly handled Patrice Evra's cross before half-time.

City executive Patrick Vieira said on Wednesday that he believed United and other big clubs "get some advantage" from officials at home, though his club later released a statement to say his views had been taken out of context.

"From the referee's position, I can see why he didn't give a penalty kick when Danny Murphy was brought down because the ball has moved to the angle as Michael Carrick has challenged him," Ferguson argued.

"From that position it wasn't clear. It was a good claim.

"We could have had a penalty but you don't often get these ones when a wide player's crossing the ball.

"He almost caught the ball between his arm and his body. We could have got a penalty but I wouldn't have expected one for that, to be honest."

Ferguson suggested Manchester City were fortunate not to concede a penalty when Gareth Barry challenged Stoke's Glenn Whelan in Saturday's 1-1 draw at the Britannia Stadium

He also mentioned the controversial penalty Newcastle were awarded in their 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in November and an apparent stamp on Scott Parker by Mario Balotelli - who went on the score the winning goal - in Manchester City's 3-2 victory over Tottenham in January.

DID YOU KNOW?
•Manchester United have had four penalties given against them at Old Trafford this season

"City could have had a penalty kick against them at Stoke as everyone saw," Ferguson commented.

"We had a terrible decision this season at Old Trafford when Newcastle got a penalty kick. Tottenham could claim the same when Balotelli wasn't sent off and then ended up scoring the winning goal.

"You could go through millions of things like that but I think maybe we've a point that the smaller clubs feel that way.

"Someone said some years ago United always get penalty kicks at Old Trafford but when you go back through the 25 years I've been here it's only averaged about three a year, or something like that.

"It has some mileage in terms of press and things like that but most managers believe that the breaks even themselves out."

THe England team are a joke. The main problem, is that because we see PL teams doing well, we think English players can compete with the best in the world. They can't - they're just not as good as people think. You could have Mourinho or Pep managing them, and they'll still misplace passes and look like a shambles.

I can't wait for Harry to get the job to see how the press react when there are no foreigners to blame.

I'm glad I don't follow England.

GiRTh

England aren't a tournament team. Its as simple as that. I think the players are good enough but they play like muppets when the pressures on and they have to play 3 knockout games in a row.

Also, to win a tournament teams have got to change their shape when its not working. England at hopeles at it. Its 4-4-2 or nothing. Savvy football teams nave broken down 4-4-2 to the point where its the most old fashioned formation and too easy to beat.

Subs: Doni, Aurelio, Maxi, Henderson, Coates, Kuyt, Downing.

They'll have a field day against our defence but we shouldn't have a problem scoring a few with our attack. No Coloccini for them today either. It'll be either 2-2 or one of us will scrape it 3-2.

Can see Enrique getting louder boos than Carroll aswell, said they would never challenge for the top 6 again.

Jesus.
01-04-2012, 12:05 PM
They will roll us over very comfortably today. They'll target Carra and make a fast start. They'll be 2-0 up at half time. We'll still get no men forward when we attack, and Carroll will be walking around the penalty area, so he's on his heels when the ball comes near him.

After Sterlings' promising cameo against Wigan, it's really disappointing not to see him in the match day squad.

It looks like Kenny has picked a team to send out a message to a few of the players from the Wigan debacle, but I'm not sure how they can work together.

At least it looks as though it could be a 433, rather than a 442 for a change. But if it isn't a 433, then expecting Bellamy to work up and down like a wide midfielder is going to be suicide.

Anyway, what are these excuses that you were on about? There are none. It's not good enough from top to bottom, and is a direct result of investing in average British players in the transfer market.

Perch was a tw*t for going down like that but Reina did move his head toward Perch. Three game ban not likely to be overturned.

Give credit to Newcastle, they look a good side. Tiote was outstanding for them, He'd be a good signing for any the supposed 'top' clubs. Cisse looks the part too. There are goal in Newcastles side. Pardew is doing an excellent job.

Liverpool on the other hand look awful for a side of their stature. Who'd have thought a few years ago that they'd miss Lucas so much. Without him theres no shape to their midfield. Henderson, Caroll and Adam need to take a look at themselves and as why they were bought for so much money. Kenny's under pressure for probably the first time ever in all his years at Liverpool.

Jesus.

To be fair, that was written in summer and fans are optimists, so it's semi-excusable. However, I can guarantee you that the majority of fans didn't view things like that. Most of the fans I know thought we'd pissed our transfer kitty up the wall, save from Suarez, Enrique and Bellamy.

I'm sure if I dug around the net, I could find a Villa blogger who thought AM was the right man to lead Villa forward this season. Fans are blind and stupid at varying degrees, and at varying times.
