Abou Diaby is hoping to return for the home game with West Brom on Saturday.

The midfielder has been out since injuring his ankle against Bolton a fortnight ago and will have a fitness test on Friday.

Tomas Rosicky (ankle) and Emmanuel Eboue (knee) also face examinations. Meanwhile Alex Song is back from suspension and Sebastien Squillaci (muscle) should return after being rested in midweek.

There was some good news for new Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier after Ashley Young expressed his willingness to sign a new deal.

Young was the subject of speculation about his future during the summer and constantly linked with a move to Tottenham.

But the England winger has started the new campaign in sparkling form and given the strongest indication yet he will be happy to commit to the midlands club.

When asked how contract talks were progressing, Young said: "I've always said that I'm willing to sign a new deal. If it comes along, then I'll be delighted to sign."

Arsenal are on Friday expected to announce annual figures that will leave many rival Premier League clubs green with envy.

The Gunners are due to announce new record profits - and that they have paid off all the debts on their Highbury Square development six months early.

That means the club can expect a £30million windfall from selling off around 90 apartments, while the cost of paying off the Emirates Stadium development is comfortably covered by income.

The rosy financial picture for the year up to June 2010 will please some fans but may leave others asking why manager Arsene Wenger has been reluctant to strengthen his team with more established stars, particularly among his goalkeepers.

A year ago, Arsenal announced pre-tax profits had risen 24% to £45.5million. Another increase for the year ending June 2010 is expected courtesy of property sales and around a £4million rise in Premier League income to £51.7million and a similar increase in Champions League income to £27.3million.

True, but I like to put on a few cheeky bets too. Like I put an accumulator on with Blackpool and Blackburn to draw and Birmingham to beat Wigan. And another one with Spurs to beat West Ham and Everton to beat Fulham, both away. Good odds.

Do you think City could take Chelsea?

30stone
23-09-2010, 10:04 PM
I dont know really its possible, but chelsea are a better side with all players fit, they work as a complete unit.

Watching them play barca the season before last was amazing how essien and a cole closed down messi.

Hope its a draw really, if not i want chelsea to smash them. as i cant stand city.

Im trying to make a 5er a week lol, off that site see if i can make a bit of extra cash, once i have 100 move it into my bank lol.

Well, City are 5/2, a draw is 23/10, while Chelsea are at 11/10. Draw looks tasty but then again I think they'll both be gunning for a win.

DDRickyDD
23-09-2010, 10:08 PM
ROFL 37? That's pathetic. Watch if they draw Man Utd away they'll soon be queuing up to go! Joke of a club. At least we took 500-odd to Peterborough and that was the league cup too!

Yeah but Cardiff are a bigger club than Swansea.

Well, if you put 2 on City to win, you'll get your 2 back and another 5, so you'll get 7 back.

If you put 1 on a draw you'll get the 1 back plus 2.30 so 3.30.

And if you put 1 on Chelsea you'll get your 1 back plus 1.10 so 2.20.

Sorry, made it as easy as possible for myself there!

setanta
23-09-2010, 10:26 PM
But you know you can check what you'll get on your betslip on Paddy power, right? It'll show you how much you'll win, but you can x the bet off if it doesn't float your boat.

Easy enough to get used to it after awhile.

setanta

And that's why Arsenal to win is so stingy for your money cuz the bookies know they'll win. So it's 1/5 on paddy power and the 5 is your bet. So if you put 5 on it, you'll get your five back plus the one on the other side... so 6 back. If you only put 1 on you'll get your one back plus a fifth of a pound, which is 20 pence, so 1.20. God, I'm making this look more difficult than it is, sorry!

Its good, man united vs west brom wigan or blackpool at home
Chelsea vs west brom wigan or blackpool at home
Arsenal vs west brom wigan or blackpool at home

9 games.

put 15 on each.. thats minimum of 15 pound back.. lol..

not good but you cant really lose lol.

setanta
23-09-2010, 10:45 PM
That's basically the way to look at it though... the ratio. If the first number is a fair bit bigger than the second, you know the odds are big and the bookies don't think it'll happen and when it's the other way round they think it's not going to happen too often.

It doesn't really matter though if you bet big, like Claymores does. He throws alot of cash on even the stingiest odds if he knows it's a sure thing, that way he wins something nearly all the time.

Locke.
23-09-2010, 11:07 PM
Ben you should just put it on Handicaps... Like when Chelsea play west brom you know that they're gonna win by at least 2 goals, so instead of just putting Chelsea to win you should do them on a -1 handicap (which means starting a goal down) and you'll make more

30stone
23-09-2010, 11:37 PM
Well yeah i would have been comfortable putting 100 on chelsea vs blackpool...

Yeah if you do it on -1 then they need to win by 2.

An with arsenal an west brom on saturday, you'll get around 20p back for every pound you put on just for arsenal to win, or if you do it on -1 you'll get about 57p back for every pound you put on

Arsenal on a -1 Handicap, Cardiff to beat Millwall, Over 2 goals in the Aberdeen-Rangers game. That is around 4/1. Think I'll be doing that this week.

30stone

We weren't even **** against Newcastle, from the way people have been carrying on you'd think we played like a Championship team but we didn't, dominated long periods of play, and had plenty of chances, just couldn't find the back of the net AGAIN. Props to the barcodes though, they were very strong defensively, although Williamson is a *****, trying to wind Fellani up climbing over him all afternoon. Really frustrating but I know the results will start to come soon :) Wish we would have signed Arfa though, we were tracking him for bloody ages, don't think Moyes was 100% happy with his rep for having a bit of an attitude, but he looks a really good prospect and he scored a screamer of a goal. Ah well, gotta keep the faith!

Shows how much we miss Timmy Cahill as well, and he's only 50/50 for the Fulham game :( But the rest have to step up to the mark!! COYB!!

It seems maybe putting too much effort into one certain match then in the one match slowed down may have had an effect. The Everton team should be full of confidence:).

I agree about Cahill, however the others have a chance to stake their claim and bang the goals in LOL;).

Swansea are only a small club to be fair. They punching above their weight by being in the Championship.

Here's my predcition for the Saturdays games;

Man City to record a surprise victory over Chelsea. Arsenal to hit 5 past West Brom. Liverpool to squeeze past Sunderland with a 1-0 win with Bent coming close on numerous occasions. Cardiff to get back to winning ways with a victory over Millwall and Preston to lose to Coventry despite leading for most of the game.

Yeah you need to just find some goals now, the all round play is good..

I have tim cahill in my team so hopefully he plays and scores.

Well....turn the table upside down and we're top

Expected to only take a point from today tbh, was pleased to see us playing much better again, more like we did against Utd but without the goals lol, positives to come from it are that the Yak played 90mins and looks fit again, had two good shots saved by Schwarzer, Coleman starting as RM and he played tremendously, gives a whole new attacking element that we've been lacking down the right side, him working with Neville behind him will just make him better and better imo. Just the finishing touches that are missing at the moment but noone had a bad game at all. Again frustrating but I still have faith the results will come and with Liverpool not playing well at at the moment either this makes the upcoming derby in 2 weeks a definite 6 pointer and should be very interesting. They only 3 points ahead of us and we're bottom. Birmingham away next week, have every faith we can get a result there. :)

Fulham are a hard team to play at home so I'm happy with the point even though it leaves us bottom of the table for the moment. We know we are perhaps missing a striker at the moment with Beckford unproven, Saha injured and Yakubu still coming back to full fitness but we've been here before, the main thing is that the spirit seems to be back more and everyone played well today. I did think Moyes might bring Beckford on for Cahill and play 4-4-2 with him and Yak up front but he obviously decided to go for the attacking midfield experience of Osman instead and he did well when he came on. Beckford will get his chances, I feel for the lad but he needs to be patient is all.

I know because the tradition of a club like Everton IMO can attract some decent players and the fact you're consistently pushing for the European places.. Kenwright has done a great job but maybe in the future he may let some people with lots of money to come in so the club gets the financial backing it needs;).

Glad to see you back btw:).

Bit early to say he's overrated yet Chels tbf, he's not had the service and enough time to prove himself yet. It might work out for him and it might not, but he was worth taking the risk on seeing as he was free imo and we have no money AGAIN.

It's a big jump for Beckford, however as long as he keeps working hard, gets his confidence up and makes the most of opportunities he gets in the team then he could prove his worth:p.

Yeah you can't fault BK for having the club's best interests at heart, he doesn't want someone with no love for the game coming in with wads of cash and no heart, who will sink us into debt BUT I do think something has to give at some point and he maybe needs to let go of the reigns a little. No manager is going to put up with the lack of funds and missing out on breaking the top 4 forever when all we're missing is a true class striker, but yet again we don't have enough funds. Imagine what Moyesy could do with a decent amount of money!! The guy must have the patience of a saint

Thanks btw  Nice to see you still knocking about here ;)

Yeah I honestly believe he can come good, he's got a good footballing mind, problem is when he's played so far he's either been climbed all over (Newcastle game especially), or he just hasn't received the service and has had to run deep into midfield to even get a touch on the ball. You can tell he is itching to prove himself, I just hope he gets his chances and would love to see him and Yak play up front together, I think that's a partnership that could bring out the best in both :)

David Connoly is an example of a prolific goalscorer who never cut it in the top flight. Beckford may be another.

Smart thinking by Kenwright but once he finds the right person to back the club and if they get on well, maybe he'll still have influence in some way as he'll obviously be around.

Bit harsh. As has been said it's a hell of a leap up to the PL and maybe he isn't good enough but he hasn't even played a full 90mins yet and needs to be given support and time to find his feet before people start writing him off. As I've said previously it doesn't help that he's been thrown in the deep end as sole striker because Moyes won't play 4-4-2 and has had little to no service from the midfield. Lets just see what happens eh?

Same old story for us yeah lol, last season we had an excuse, because we were crippled by injuries and the Lescott saga, if the season had started at Christmas then we would have finished 3rd I think

Some Everton fans are saying that's it now and we'll be fighting relegation come the end of the season, I'm keeping the faith that we'll pull ourselves out of it, we're not playing badly at all, just missing a prolific striker but we have other players who can score goals, we'll be alright :)

MILLWALL, MILLWALL RUN, MILLWALL, MILLWALL RUN, MILLWALL, MILLWALL RUN FROM CARDIFF!!!

l

Well done, you managed to win at home against a team with ten men who are probably going to be fighting relegation. Fantastic achievement that.

Who'll go down? Can't see any obvious candidates yet.

Blackpool, Wigan and West Ham.

Good victory from Man City today but Chelsea are still going to win the league at a canter. Very poor from Arsenal, losing at home to newly promoted West Brom, who have made a fantastic start and look like they can finally stay in the Premiership. Liverpool struggled at home to Sunderland and apparently Sunderland were much the better team and Liverpool were fortunate to get draw. Tottenham lost again. Last season's 4th place finish is looking even more like a fluke by the day. Blackpool lost the Lancashire derby at home to Blackburn with Blackburn getting a last minute winner. Fulham kept their unbeaten record going with a bore 0-0 draw with Everton.

In the Championship, Preston finally ended their away day blues and beat the sky blues, Coventry 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena. Portsmouth somehow beat Leicester 6-1 at Fratton Park on Friday but I expect Leicester to get out of trouble. I expect Preston, Scunthorpe, Barnsley, Millwall and Portsmouth to be the teams fighting to stay in the league.

In Germany, Bayern Munich lost at home to newly promoted Mainz. And to continue the shock results between newly promoted teams and European heavyweights, Levante held Real Madrid to a 0-0 draw.
