Jay-Z 'Ready' For Arsenal Investment

JAY-Z is planning to spend more time in London as he prepares to invest in a top British soccer team.

The rapper has previously spoken of his interest in becoming a major shareholder in Barclays Premier League club Arsenal, admitting he has been a fan of the team since French star Thierry Henry played for them.

But Jay-Z, who co-owns U.S. basketball team the New Jersey Nets, insists he will have to play an active role in Arsenal if he's to clinch the deal.

He says, "(Wife Beyonce and I) would have to spend much more time in London. Bey knows how much I love sports and has known about my interest in Arsenal for a while.

"I never want to be a back-seat investor. I want to be on the board, involved in the decision-making... I'm at the stage of my career where I am ready for another investment like this. I have really got into soccer over the last 10 years and I've been saying for some time I want a percentage of Arsenal."

Many things grind my gears about football. Most of them are completely inane. Some of them don’t bother anyone else and I seem like a complete mad person for getting so worked up by them, but some things are universally baffling. These are but a few of them.

1. Automatic bookings for stripping off – The passion, excitement and euphoria of football can often come to a head in the event of scoring a goal. Such is the feeling – that even school yard players know – that it can, on occasion, encourage footballers to take their clothes off before they’ve even gotten to China White. The passion is the greatest thing about the sport. Those who don’t understand it lament it’s ability to churn out suicidaly dull 0-0 draws at Bolton on a breezy February afternoon, but they fail to grasp that the waiting is just the thing that makes it. We can sit in rain and sleet and snow and watch the most appalling rubbish, transfixed in anticipation, knowing that at any moment, a goal may be scored to light up our experience. The very lack of constant scoring is what makes the act of scoring so emotional, and when said emotion explodes it’s a joyous and wonderful thing. So if a player gets so worked up by it that he finds the act of keeping his clothes on impossible to abide by, then at no point should that ever – ever – be punishable by anything. Except maybe cold nipples.

2. Three Minutes of Injury time – I can’t pin point the exact moment 3 minutes of injury time became compulsory, but I’m going to take a complete guess and say it was around 1997. No match ends earlier than the 93rd minute anymore, so we might as well just play 93 minutes. Even a suicidally dull 0-0 draw at Bolton on a breezy February afternoon gets 3 minutes. Why? When you add up the amount of time the ball is actually not in play it comes to about 20 minutes, but we don’t play 20 minutes injury time because that would be absolutely ridiculous – unless one of the big four are losing of course (only joking big four fans!…sort of) – So lets just play 93 minutes. And if you want to add 4, just add 1 instead. Simples.

3. The Idea you need a few naughties to get a top atmosphere/it’s just part of football – No you don’t/ No it isn’t. I eff and blind as much as the next bloke at a match, but in a vague and non-specific way. The odd expletive repeated 20 times in a row isn’t going to hurt anyone – probably – but you don’t need to add a racial or homophobic slur to the end of it. You really don’t. Nor do you need to throw a coin, or a bottle (or in one Liverpool fan’s case – your phone) on to the pitch to “improve the atmosphere”. That isn’t part of football, that’s just part of being a mong.

4. Diving – Get up you expletive expletive + homophobic insult

5. Autobiographies by players who are still playing – Surely the point of an autobiography is to reflect on your life’s work with the wisdom you’ve gained over the course of it? It should be an opus, not a serial. Writing an autobiography at 25 isn’t writing an autobiography, it’s writing a diary. Furthermore, if you’re not even going to write it at all, merely talk to some other bloke about it for a bit and let him write it down, then why make it a book? You aren’t going to read it anyway are you? Why don’t you just release it on tape or something? “Things I’ve thought of so far by Wayne Rooney”, for example. I wouldn’t buy it, but someone would. At no point does anyone still playing the game need to write an Autobiography, or have a biography written for them. And you don’t need more than one either, it’s supposed to be about your life. You only get one of those.

6. Sepp Blatter – I have no idea why Sepp Blatter still exists in football.

7. The “new George Best” – Or the new Zinedine Zidane, or the new anyone. No, they aren’t that. Stop it. And being fast and mixed race doesn’t automatically make anyone comparable to Thierry Henry.

8. Shot sleeves and gloves – Beanie and a vest? Pants and duffle coat? No.

9. Wearing a suit to pundit on television – Why do you need to wear a suit to talk about football on television exactly? Are you going to get booked if you take it off?

10. Anyone who says there’s no romance in the FA Cup anymore – Didn’t Portsmouth win it 2008? Didn’t Cardiff get to the final? Didn’t Millwall get to the final a few years back? Didn’t Leeds knock out Man Utd away this year? Didn’t Barnsley knock out Liverpool at Anfield two years ago? Didn’t a million other things happen or weren’t you watching? This goes equally for anyone who says “football’s rubbish now, it was better in my day” – which it probably wasn’t, but you were certainly less of a tool – and “The English League is the least competitive” – when in fact only 9 teams have ever won La Liga in it’s entire history, and only 5 during the PL era or more than twice. Only 8 have ever won Seria A more than twice and only 5 since the PL era too. 19 English clubs have won the top tier more than twice however, so even if the PL era has only seen 4 winners, it’s still all rubbish, and actually more in line with the rest of Europe than it ever was.

The diaby tackle by robinson...
Nice..

PnXFILtV-sk&feature=player_embedded

Here is the video of 'that' tackle by Bolton's Paul Robinson. I thought it was a clear red card at first viewing and it only looks worse on the replays. If ever a tackle was designed to break a leg then this is it. A couple of chaps at the stadium sitting behind me felt it was a fair tackle, if they haven't changed their minds having studied in it more detail then they need their heads examined.

Shocking straight legged tackle, player taken off with potentially nasty injury, one would think that this would make the headlines, at least make the news. So why the strange blackout in certain parts of the media following Diaby's premature exit from the game? The BBC have been appalling, the incident wasn't even on MOTD's highlights and wasn't even mentioned in a match report. Given the the BBC is a public broadcaster they are obliged to listen to complaints, so please join me in taking a couple of minutes to fill out this quick complaints form.

Thats the complaints form from the article.

Owen Coyle has again raised the issue of referees favouring big clubs over the smaller sides following Bolton's 4-1 defeat at Arsenal.

The Trotters chief was frustrated after watching his side's bid to secure something against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday ended by referee Stuart Attwell's harsh decision to send off Gary Cahill in the second half when the score was 2-1 and just moments after he ignored a clear foul on Lee Chung-yong.

Arsenal went on to wrap up the game with two more goals and Coyle was left to reflect on other matches against the Premier League big boys where they have been hard done to.

He said: "Last year we all know what happened here, we were 2-1 up when Mark Davies was fouled by Mr [William] Gallas, Arsenal equalised while he was lying injured and made it two each, then we went on to lose the game.

"I remember we went to Chelsea late on last season, there were two stonewall penalties denied us and we lost 1-0.

"We came to Arsenal again, and there was another big moment. So maybe when the smaller clubs come to the elite clubs, they don't get the rub of the green."

He added: "As mangers what we want is that they get the big decisions right.

"It was such a glaring foul on the edge of the box and the assistant, has he abdicated responsibility? I don't know - but they were both in good positions to see it."

LOL!? Really? Bolton were going to get nothing Cahill or not!

Lets look at Robinsons foul again shall we? was that favourable refereeing toward Arsenal? He didnt even get a yellow for a BLATENT red card challenge.

Davies made 4 maybe 5 yellow card challenges and went unpunished all afternoon.

How can coyle say the ref helped us, when they deserved a lot more punishment and the ref chose to ignore it..

Southampton have a wonderful ground with fantastic fans. They are only in League One because of the poor ownership and management which isn't the fans fault at all. Your correct, no club has a divine right but I would prefer the bigger clubs of English football to be in the Permier League other than smaller clubs such as Wigan who can't fill their stadium.
They are in League 1 because thats where they deserve to be on their performances. If you put in **** performances then you are going to be facing relegation.

A 'wonderful ground' (not so sure what's wonderful about a lifleless bowl - have you been?) and 'fantastic fans' (not sure why you think that either), yep, that will earn them promotion. Forget the players on the pitch.

Awful challenge.

Keogh isn't bad, but you still have Bellamy?

We've been playing Bellars on the wing because DJ has opted for a 4-5-1 formation, plus he missed the game on Saturday due to his knee flaring up when he played Montenegro with Wales. He's travelled tonight up to Leicester though and he'll have a fitness test tommorow so fingers crossed he's good to to.

Bolton appeal Gary Cahill’s Arsenal red card
Bolton Wanderers have launched an appeal over the red card shown to defender Gary Cahill during Saturday's defeat at Arsenal. - I actually think fifa wont take it back, he was no where near the ball, he came in 2 footed and behind. i think he will keep his 3 match ban

Sporting Braga star Vandinho reckons Arsenal can't blame their injuries if they fail to top their Champions League group.
"In theory first place will be Arsenal's but the battle for second place will be wide open." - They sound a bit defeated? which i dont get as they are the time im most worried about..

Arsenal and Chelsea are both allegedly keeping tabs on Spain star Jesus Navas.
The 24-year-old is being linked with a move to London in January, with both Arsene Wenger and Carlo Ancelotti said to be showing an interest.
Metro reports that both Arsenal and Chelsea have had scouts monitoring the progress of the Sevilla ace over recent weeks.

Arsenal signing Wellington Silva is confident he can make an impact at the Emirates.
The Samba starlet is set to join the Gunners permanently in January after a successful trial period in north London, with manager Arsene Wenger securing the player's signature immediately.

Cesc Backs Almunia and says he is well - loved amoung the players and staff
Cesc said:

"Manuel commanded the defence very well at Blackburn - but it is not just about one game or two or three," the Spain midfielder said. "He is well-loved player among everybody here and performs well for this club. We all wish him a super season and have a lot of trust."
Almunia has started the season very well, he has withstood everything that has been thrown at him. I do not believe that he was at fault for the goal at Anfield and in my eyes he has hardly put a foot wrong. He has been under plenty of pressure this summer, especially with the non stop talk about Mark Schwarzer.

Several 'capable' Premier League players in that side. Surely it will be at least 5-0 to Cardiff?

Creating chances are a risk, United are good on the counter attack and would have exposed us if we moved further up the pitch, tonight was a perfect example of how to play defensive. you can't really play any other way against United at OT with the squad we have and would have been beaten badly even with a 4-4-2 formation, At Ibrox though it will be a totally different game.

I was at the Coventry vs Leicester on Saturday, and their passing and ball control was incredible. That game ended 1-1, but if they would have had a decent striker, I wouldn't have been surprised if they'd have won 3-1 or 4-1.

They essentially treated the game vs Cov as a win due to how much possession and control they had. Guess they rode that wave into the Cardiff game.

0 - 0 At OT is a win for Rangers, they wouldnt really hope for better.

If they had attacked united, then united would have smashed it..
Counter attack or just from normal play.

IMO tha Valencia leg break doesnt look very bad compared to most others ive seen in recent years..

Eduardo, Ramsey, Diaby..

I think Valencia could be back within a couple of month.. Sadly i will have to take him out my pl fantasy team now..

Manchester United were very poor tonight. I was laughed at but this is the exact reason that I stopped supporting them and started supporting Chelsea. Tottenham should have won once they went 2-0 up.

In the Championship Preston North End continued their poor start with a 2-1 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest. Cardiff lost to Leicester as I predicted and QPR got a win but I doubt they will sustain their form, gonna finish mid-table.

For tomorrows games. I think Braga will be an handfull for Arsenal at the Commercial Stadium. My prediction being 2-2 with a last minute goal saving Arsenal. Chelsea will ease past Zilina with an 8-0 victory.

Arsène Wenger backs Marouane Chamakh to lead Arsenal's campaign
• Injuries force manager to rely heavily on summer signings
• Praise for Moroccan's selfless, physical style of play

Sir Alex Ferguson fears Antonio Valencia will be out for the rest of the season after suffering an horrific injury in Manchester United's goalless Champions League draw with Rangers at Old Trafford.

Arsenal's Wenger homes in on Braga's inexperience
Arsène Wenger said Arsenal FC want their experience to count as his injury-hit but seasoned team welcome newcomers SC Braga to London in Group H on Wednesday.

Braga out to make history when facing Arsenal
Domingos Paciencia has taken Braga into Europe's elite
Braga manager Domingos Paciencia maintains his side will set out to make history on their Champions League debut at Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Arsene Wenger pleads for fair play (again) as Arsenal boss counts the costs of injuries
Arsene Wenger has repeatedly called for protection for his players during 14 years at Arsenal advocating the beautiful game.
The refrain was heard again following an injury to Abou Diaby. A tackle from Bolton's Paul Robinson last Saturday means Arsenal will be without the midfielder against Portuguese side FC Braga this evening and for the league trip to Sunderland on Saturday.
It was a 'very bad tackle', insisted Wenger in a tone that reflected both frustration and a resignation

Gary Cahill hit with three-match ban after red card appeals fails
Bolton defender Gary Cahill has lost his appeal over his red card at Arsenal at Saturday.

Coventry lost 2-1 to Swansea. I was hoping for a draw :(

Matheus insists Braga should not be underestimated. "We have already achieved our first success of the season by reaching the group stages of the Champions League," he said in the Daily Star. "But that is not enough. Braga are not just going into this as tourists. Now we want to travel across Europe and win. "Arsenal are the favourites to win the match and the group - but we can spring a big surprise. "Nobody thought we could beat Sevilla either." Matheus accepts that Braga are likely to come under pressure from Arsenal but he believes they can pose an attacking threat of their own. "The key to the match for us will be to give our all and take advantage of the opportunities we get on the counter-attack," explained the 27-year-old. "I love Arsenal's incredible attacking style, but I don't intend to suffer from it. "I intend to enjoy it. Scoring at the Emirates would be an incredible moment for me to remember."

He made 1 quality save.

And one perfect interception had to dive along the floor just got his hand to it, if he missed, it would have been back post where they had a player unmarked and a definate goal.

Almunia played well.

Eboue and Denilson done the least imo.

Player Ratings

Player Ratings

Almunia: 7 – He’s more and more gaining the confidence he needs ahead of much tougher games which he will have to face very soon. Keep it up Manuel.

Koscielny and Squillaci: 7,5 – Very little was asked from these two tonight, yet they never lost concentration and produced a fine display at the heart of our back four.

Sagna: 8 – With this rate he will not only make the EPL squad of the year for a second time but will also be one of our best players of the seasons. Hoping of course he can keep it up!

Clichy: 7,5 – Apart from that first half lapse in concentration which was not good to see as other teams would have punished him, he was a beast on the left. I still believe he needs to improve his defensive side of his game but in terms of willingness and workload when pushing forward, he is still one of the best.

Fabregas: 10 – How can you give less to someone who scores two goals, turns provider for his team mates and keeps on fighting until the very last second of the game?

Song: 6 – My lowest rate for today’s game. I counted something like 5-6 passes missed by Alex tonight as he looked out of sorts.

Wilshere: 8 – He will not be one of the best players in England in the future. Because he already is. Granted, he needs to gain that bit of experience required to do well against tougher opposition but how many 18-year olds play with such confidence and have such quick feet?

Arshavin: 8,5 – Like Cesc, Andrey scored and turned provider for his team mates when required. He enjoyed himself out there, loved to take on Braga defenders and when he’s enjoying himself, the end product can only be one.

Nasri: 7 – Back from injury and not as sharp as he will be in a week or two as he faded away in the second half. But still a very good game from Samir who I feel will benefit from the competition Tomas Rosicky will provide this season.

Chamakh: 8 – I love Nicklas Bendtner, I feel he is one of the most underrated players in our squad but Marouane is exactly what the Dane has to be when he reaches Chamakh’s age, 26 that is. And he’s mature, just look at how he stopped and grabbed the ball when flagged for offside so as to make sure not to be yellow-carded.

(Subs)
Eboue: 6 – I feel he tried one trick too many out there Emmanuel although you’ve got to love how he’s the first one to hug players when they score.

Denilson: 6,5 – Again very tidy in midfield and produced some nice tricks in the middle of the field.

Vela: 8 – Can he miss? Scored three goals in five days even if he was on the pitch for less than 45 minutes. I honestly believe Eduardo gave him a tip or two before leaving for Ukraine as Carlos is slowly becoming the new “Dudu” of Arsenal. I so much want to know if he can be so influential during the first part of a game and not just when the game is already put to bed.

Reports suggest the Portuguese Football Federation want Jose Mourinho to coach the national side on an interim basis.

They hope the Real Madrid boss will agree to oversee the next two fixtures of the country's Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.

Portugal are currently without a manager after Carlos Queiroz was relieved of his duties earlier this month.

The former Manchester United assistant was absent for the start of European Championship qualifying after being handed a six-month ban for disrupting a pre-World Cup anti-doping test, but ultimately paid the price for his failure in South Africa.

With Portugal having taken just one point from their opening two games on the road to Euro 2012, it is imperative that they bounce back against Denmark and Iceland in October.

Long-term stability will be required if the nation are to remain competitive on the international stage, but for now a quick-fix option is being considered.

Negotiations
Portuguese Football Federation president Gilberto Madail has suggested that Mourinho could be drafted in to help steady the ship, and he plans to meet with the Real boss on Thursday.

Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes will also be in attendance as Portugal attempt to thrash out an agreement with the most high-profile coach to have emerged from their shores.

It remains to be seen whether a deal can be put in place, as Madail admits "negotiations will be difficult".

However, former Chelsea and Inter Milan chief Mourinho has admitted in the past that he would welcome the opportunity to coach his homeland at some stage.

Should he decide that now is not the right time, Portugal will turn their attention back to making a permanent appointment.

They have been quick to play down speculation that ex-Sporting Lisbon boss Paulo Bento has already been approached, while reports continue to suggest that Diego Maradona remains a surprise candidate for the role.

Big Sam Stinging attack on Wenger

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has made a blistering attack on Arsene Wenger’s ability to manipulate referees before matches even start, claiming he controls most of the media and being “very clever” about it.

Arsenal travel to Sunderland at the weekend in what could be another physical test for them with the Gunners having already claimed physical wins against Bolton and Big Sams Blackburn.

Of Arsene Wenger, Allardyce said.

“Arsene has most of the media in his pocket now and is almost…almost, affecting the officials so that you can’t tackle an Arsenal player. That’s something he’s very clever at working on and it’s almost working in his favour, you can see that.”

“Read his (Arsene Wenger’s) interview before the Stoke City v Aston Villa match, what he said and how he said it – he’s a very, very clever man in terms of influencing referees, officials and everybody in football. He can’t be brought up for it because it’s about another match – rather just before he plays us.”

“There is a perception that we kick everybody and Arsenal’s motivation is that you can’t tackle us as you aren’t supposed to. In terms of saying people are trying to injure players he’s trying to influence, through the media, the referees and that’s something they shouldn’t get sucked in to.”

“He’s deflecting attention from the situation which says the game of football is a contact sport. You have to try to win the ball at all costs and if someone doesn’t get it quite right people get injured.”

You go out to try and win the ball yes, you couldnt give a flying **** if your team is to slow and **** and injures players you fat bastard. Maybe wenger is influencing refs, but not enough imo, hence kevin davies and robinson for bolton didnt get sent off and definately should have.

GRAHAM POLL: Do Arsenal need more protection from referees? No way!

If you look at Arsenal’s matches this season, it does not look like they need any special protection.

There have been only 37 fouls against them, the second lowest in the league, and when there have been horrible tackles, the referees in charge have, with the exception of Paul Robinson’s horror on Abou Diaby, taken action with three red cards.

There has been a fairly even spread of yellow cards too between Arsenal and their opponents — surely if Wenger was correct, referees would have had to issue more.

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1312746/GRAHAM-POLL-Do-Arsenal-need-protection-referees-No-way.html?ito=feeds-newsxml#ixzz0zjz3nF3F

You are missing the point you tool! 37 fouls against us, that horror challenge from Paul Robinson on Diaby doesnt count as one of them, the point is the refs also miss blatent fouls, so they dont get counted? This guy is beyond stupid

Valencia is great, a more consistant nani..

Wenger and his Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas both used their programme notes for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Braga to moan about the physical approach of Coyle’s Bolton side.

A tackle by Paul Robinson on Abou Diaby “should have been a straight red card” according to Wenger, who believes “the Premier League should be in a position where they can suspend players who do this kind of thing”. Fabregas added: “I won’t say that Bolton’s approach was a surprise, but they went above the limit a few times.

“As well as that tackle there were the ones on Jack Wilshere and Laurent Koscielny, which were not nice to see either.”

Coyle's Reply.

“Maybe Arsenal know that they were in a really tough game, maybe that is a compliment.

“I could say that Kieran Gibbs should have been booked and then sent off for going into the back of Kevin Davies.

“If we want to hark back, look at the tackle on Mark Davies by William Gallas last season – that speaks for itself. Pot and kettle are the words that come to mind.”

How can he defend Paul Robinson on that challenge? that was a career ending tackle..
And why does he have to revert back to william gallas? a season ago? tbecause there was one tackle gibbs did in that whole game.. Yet his players made like 11 yellow card offence challenges..

You're my No 1! Arsene Wenger hails Manuel Almunia's outstanding start for Arsenal

Despite spending the summer trying to bring in a new keeper, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has issued a statement of support for Manuel Almunia after his 'outstanding' start to the season.

After a number of high-profile gaffes last term, Wenger made a new goalkeeper a top priority with Almunia looking set for the exit, or at least a considerable amount of time on the bench.

But the Spaniard, 33, has made an excellent start to the season, mirroring that of his team who are unbeaten in the Premier League.

Can't see it. Granted they have made a good start but they will slip into mid table and finish around 12th.

My Predictions for the Saturdays Matches

The Stoke-West Ham game looks like an home banker to me. Arsenal have a difficult away match at Sunderland, I expect it to be a very dull game. 0-0. And Preston to get beatan at home to Norwich with Darren Ferguson getting his marching orders after the game.

Man United-Liverpool will be a low scoring match which is 0-0 until the 93rd minute when Liverpool get a corner. Gerrard whips it in an Gary Neville heads it into his own goal by mistake. Liverpool win 1-0.

Man City rip Wigan apart beating them 6-0. Tevez gets an Hat-Trick.

Sadly, we all know the luddite mentality will remain in this country and Wenger will be misreported until a Rooney or a Gerrard or a Lampard leaves the stadium in an ambulance, wearing an oxygen mask. That's the day the attitude and the game in England changes and not a second sooner.

When Aldo Duscher broke Beckhams foot the whole nation went after the argentine, when Eduardo got his leg snapped in half Wenger got criticised for being angry, Nuffield said.

Arsene Wenger will have the opportunity to strengthen his squad in January with Arsenal about to reveal a transfer fund of £50million.

The Gunners have always boasted running a tight financial operation and according to the Mail on Sunday, Arsenal will reveal in their accounts this week that they continue to lower their debt and at the same time will be able to make a £50million transfer fund available to Arsene Wenger. This fund is thanks to a policy whereby Arsenal keep 70% of transfer sales solely for reinvestment in new players.

Arsenal signed Laurent Koscielny, Sebastien Squillaci and Marouane Chamakh over the summer, but Wenger refused to spend big on any of his new players.

Vieira may have had the most Red and Yellow cards but he never broke anyone's leg.Can you name any recent hard men of Arsenal who have broken any legs I cant so get your facts right ,AW is only complaining about over the top tackles that go unpunished,we have had SEVEN broken bones in the last 3 years........

I don't recall the tough Arsenal sides of the late 90's breaking anyone's leg, Vieira et all could play physical but were good enough at it to not snap anyone's leg in 2.

"There is a problem with perception. Arsene is seen as a sophisticated Frenchman while I'm just a rugged English centre-half from the Midlands with an accent to match, but is Arsene more advanced than me in terms of coaching? Not a chance," said Allardyce.

"Does he use live fitness data on his players during games? Does he study sports psychology every day? Does he use sports science to the extent that I do? I doubt it.

Move on, Allardyce also claimed he would be a better manager than Arsene at real madrid LOL

Great result for United, but still worrying the way they conceeded two goals against a fairly rubbish Liverpool side. The game should have been totally wrapped up at that stage but still, I'm delighted to see Berbatov doing the business. I'd given up on him as a United player, but he's proven me wrong this season by playing the way we always knew he was capable of. Seems he's not stressing himself out and just playing with freedom, and it's paying off big time. Well done Berbie.

He was a shell of a player towards the end of last season though Ben. I thought at the time a move would be best for him and the team because mentally he wasn't there. setanta
19-09-2010, 08:09 PM

Both teams were poor in the North-West derby today. Liverpool's defending was dreadful, Carragher is past his best now. Man United were also dreadful. Evans was all over the place. O'Sh*te was awful as usual and should have been sent off. Flechter jumped out of the way of the ball when the free-kick was taken. How much is this guy getting paid? Surly he isn't scared of being hit by the ball. I would be absolutely furious with him if I was a Man United supporter. Both clubs are on the decline in my opinion.

Chelsea ripped Blackpool apart and could quite easily have got ten if arrgant Drogba hadn't started showboating and if we hadn't missed chance after chance after chance.

Not bad for a guy in his mid thirties. I thought he was spent last season but he's been fantastic during the start of this one. Just a brilliant football player; one of the best that England have produced in the last 15 years, up their with the best who've ever played in the Premiership.

As for the bad tackles - he knows what he's doing.

Arsenal have started well having played some tough games themselves. Looking at the sqauds I think they now better than Man United. But I don't think they are good enough to win the league. Chelsea will win it at a canter in my opinion with Arsenal 2nd. Man United 3rd. And Man City, Tottenham and Liverpool will be battling for 4th.

In goals Lukasz Fabianski will be given another chance to make some forward steps in his Arsenal career.

Johan Djourou will start his first game of the season and is likely to be partnered by Sebastien Squillaci with Thomas Vermaelen back from injury for the weekend. Kieran Gibbs and Emmanuel Eboue are likely to play on the flanks.

Denilson will be the central figure in midfield, joined perhaps by Jack Wilshere and Craig Eastmond. Up front Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Carlos Vela will be given a start with one of Tomas Rosicky or Samir Nasri likely to take up the third forward position. Alternatively the manager may choose to put the more experienced head of Rosicky or Nasri into midfield and give Wilshere a break from his recent defensive duties and some licence to attack higher up the pitch.

This guy nuts??
Arsenal will not start..

--------Fabianski-----------

Eboue-Djourou-Squillaci-Gibbs

--Wilshire-Denilson-Eastmond--

-Nasri/Rosicky-Vela-Thomas

I think it will be closer to this..

Liverpool will get better soon enough.
Had 16 pound last weekend put it on chelsea man city and arsenal.
Ended up with 13.50 left.

Put all 13.50 on arsenal beating west brom at the emirates..
16.50 back which means ill have more than i started with..

I wanna bet the sure things every week and slowly make money on it lol.

Oh dear Liverpool, it just gets worse:shocked:. Newcastle are doing well at the moment and yay for West Brom:D.

I'm laughing at how some people are getting carried away about Chelsea already saying they will win the league easily when there is a long way to go and United plus Arsenal will be more closer to them this year IMO, that said they are a quality side.. first real test for them is against Man City on the weekend;).

Well chelsea have had it easy so far other than the game at stoke which they won just 2 - 1 i think?

West Brom
Wigan
Stoke
West ham
Blackpool
And Zilina

Not the hardest games..

Next 2 weeks they have man city, marsielle, arsenal and aston villa..
Where we shall see what chelsea have.

It's only the League Cup. Hardly anyone cares about it.

ROFL 37? That's pathetic. Watch if they draw Man Utd away they'll soon be queuing up to go! Joke of a club. At least we took 500-odd to Peterborough and that was the league cup too!

I rate Arshavin too but he can be lazy, his defending is usually poor aswell.

He has moments of magic though.
and needs to show his flair a bit more again this season.

Thats because Arshavin is getting massive press in Russia over playing for Arsenal and that guy isnt getting much even tho he played for united and everton in his time.

Hes a tool.
