Why the hell were there Cardiff fans in Swindon? D: Was this from like pre-season last season or something?
Yeah 25th July 2009, didn't go myself but went to a friendly against you lot a year before and it looked like kicking off then so no surprise that something happened last year.

It had pictures of all the blokes involved in yesterdays paper, some right ugly bastards. Not sure why they thought they would get away with it where it happened seeing as due to there being lots of pubs/bars on that street the place is covered in CCTV.

Good victory from Man City today but Chelsea are still going to win the league at a canter. Very poor from Arsenal, losing at home to newly promoted West Brom, who have made a fantastic start and look like they can finally stay in the Premiership. Liverpool struggled at home to Sunderland and apparently Sunderland were much the better team and Liverpool were fortunate to get draw. Tottenham lost again. Last season's 4th place finish is looking even more like a fluke by the day. Blackpool lost the Lancashire derby at home to Blackburn with Blackburn getting a last minute winner. Fulham kept their unbeaten record going with a bore 0-0 draw with Everton.

In the Championship, Preston finally ended their away day blues and beat the sky blues, Coventry 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena. Portsmouth somehow beat Leicester 6-1 at Fratton Park on Friday but I expect Leicester to get out of trouble. I expect Preston, Scunthorpe, Barnsley, Millwall and Portsmouth to be the teams fighting to stay in the league.

In Germany, Bayern Munich lost at home to newly promoted Mainz. And to continue the shock results between newly promoted teams and European heavyweights, Levante held Real Madrid to a 0-0 draw.
How about that for football knowledge.

I expect a similar right up about todays games.

Bit harsh. As has been said it's a hell of a leap up to the PL and maybe he isn't good enough but he hasn't even played a full 90mins yet and needs to be given support and time to find his feet before people start writing him off. As I've said previously it doesn't help that he's been thrown in the deep end as sole striker because Moyes won't play 4-4-2 and has had little to no service from the midfield. Lets just see what happens eh?
One thing is for sure - if he is given more game time then you lot really are in trouble.

He really isn't very good.

Thanks. Yeah, i'l write about the matches after each matchday.

Manchester United dropped yet more points at Bolton. Chelsea fans must be laughing their arse off. After the defeat to City most people would have been expecting Arsenal and Man United to both get wins but they have both blown their chance. Wolves lost 2-1 despite being the better team for most of the game and have for the third week running lost a game in the last 5 minutes that they should have got something from. Newcastle were much the better team in the first half but seemed to decide it was a good idea to just defend for the entire 2nd half. Stoke deserved their win.

Good point for us yesterday. Playing at home against a Sunderland side that are clearly better than us with players like Mignolet and Al-Muhammadi in their starting 11. If things keep going this way we might actually just scrape staying in the premiership for another season.

I see you're talking bullshine again sonny boy. They got a good squad at this level and I expect them to finish around midtable, they've been quite unlucky and they played very well.

I'm not fooled by their good start. They will be around the relegation places come May in my opinion.

I actually watch my team play every week pal so before you start spouting a load of crap like you usually do, I know more about us than you do,

And I watch my team play every week when their playing at home or away in the North West.

No need to be rude. :nono:

Watching highlights of the Arsenal v West Brom game it shows how important having a world class keeper is. If Arsenal had a world class GK (Like Cech at Chelsea for example) the 2nd and probably the 3rd goal would have been prevented and Arsenal would have won 2-1.

I'l post my review for the Champions League games later.

Chelsea are a stronger team than Marseille on paper but Marseille should not be taken lightly, they have dangerous strikers such as Brandao and Gignac and won the French league last season which is ranked as the 5th best league in Europe. Also Drogba will not be able to play against his former team due to his sending off in the match against Inter last season. For Marseille they really need at least a point after their 1-0 loss at home to Spartak Moscow as they will have to go Moscow in November and teams don't tend to get past the Group with three defeats.

Arsenal will, apparently be without Almunia, who is crap but Fabianski is even worse so not good news for Arsenal. Partizan aren't a great team, in fact they are a poor team but with the hostile home Belgrade crowd it will not be easy for Arsenal but I fully expect them to outscore Partizan perhaps 3-2 to Arsenal.

In the Championship, Preston have a diffcult match at Elland Road and I would be very happy with a point but I fear a thrashing unless Lonergan can perform like he did on Saturday. Promotion challengers Cardiff have a game they should win at home to Palace. A London derby at Loftus Road between QPR and Millwall in which I expect QPR to win but they will get into bad form soon and drop off.

Bill Kenwright has been quoted as saying in an interview that he would entertain the idea of us possibly sharing a ground with Liverpool because of our problems with finding a venue and both club's money problems etc. Well he can shove that idea right up his arse..Liverpool have always said a flat NO to the idea now that they're royally in the **** they're suddenly pretty keen on the idea?? No we won't bail them out and no we don't want to share a ground with them EVER thank you very much BK! Dear god.

On a positive note he's apparently talking to three different investors/buyers at the moment, let's hope something comes of it this time. He's admitted he needs to find money for Moyes, I wonder if there's been rumblings behind closed doors about him thinking of moving on.

We've already played Utd away, City away, Arsenal, Birmingham away. Everton have had an easy start apart from the Utd game. If Everton are within 6 points of us in 5 games time I'll be more surprised than I was when West Brom were beating Arsenal 3-0.

I'm not saying we haven't had a ****e start to the season, we have, although we haven't played badly at all really, we're not scoring so fair enough we're without a win at the moment and deservedly so based on the lack of finishing on chances. What a fantastic night of football. Chelsea routinely beat Marseille, who looked poor and will struggle to qualify now. Arsenal did a good job in poor light in Belgrade. Ajax and AC Milan ended in stalemate.

In one of the greatest matches ever, Preston beat Leeds United 6-4 at Elland Road. After being 4-1 down. PNE showed great character to end up winning the game. This is a fantastic victory. Reading will obviously be very nervous about the match at the weekend now. Preston are in confidant mood and will want to give Reading a thrashing before the International break. Lets hope they do. Cardiff held to a draw at home to Palace. I think they are starting to drop off. Middlesbrough lose yet again away from home at Derby.

Rubin Kazan are a decent team and Russia is a very difficult place to go (Especially in October-November. February-March when the it's cold to say the least) so I wasn't really surprised to see the result. I thought Man United were very lucky, most decisons went their way and Valencia had loads of chances in which they missed. I was surprised at Copenhagen winning in Athens against the Greek champions Panathinikos though. Tottenhm won and they really needed to as they have a double header against Rafa's Inter next.

Tomorrow, I can see Liverpool drawing at Utrecht and Man City ripping Juventus apart.

Here's my predictions for the weekend;

Wigan and Wolves will end in a bore 0-0 draw. Man United will beat Sunderland by 1 goal to nil. Tottenham and Aston Villa will draw. Liverpool will hit 6 passed sorry Blackpool. Chelsea will beat Arsenal 2-0 with Jack Wilshere gets frustrated and gets himself sent off near the end due to a reckless tackle on Essien.

Cardiff have a difficult match in Tarn, I can see it ending in a draw. Middlesbrough v Portsmouth should be a good game. This could have been the FA Cup Final in 2008 if Middlesbrough hadn't messed up in the Quarter-Final. Anyway, I can't see Portsmouth coming up to Middlesbrough and winning despite them being in decent form. Middlesbrough to win 2-0. The league leadesr QPR are involved in another London derby at Palace. I can't see them getting anything from the match, they are going to start dropping off in my opinion. Two on form teams meet at Deepdale. Preston having won their last two away games and Reading having won their last two home games. I can see it ending in a draw, perhaps 1-1.

In probably the biggest game in German football Borussia Dortmund play Bayern Munich at Signal Iduna Park. With Ovica Olic saying in Bild that a defeat would put Bayern out of the title race. I expect this match to be a draw. Another top match in Germany see's Micheal Ballack's Bayer Leverkusen play against Bremen who endured a 4-0 loss at the San Siro on Wednesday. Should be an home win.

The big match in France is current league leaders and most succesful team in French football, St Etienne playing against last seasons champions Marseille. I don't think St Etienne can possibly have the sort of luck they had last week in the derby against Lyon and Marseille are starting to get into their groove in Ligue 1.

The two most succesfull teams in Italian football meet at the San Siro Sunday as Inter host Juventus. I can only see an Inter victory here.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have two games they should win against Mallorca and Deportivo.

We love you Timmy Cahill

Pretty boring game tbh but the main thing is we won and are off the bottom of the table and up in 17th place above Liverpool :p (come on you Tangerines tomorrow!).

Definitely missed Pienaar today, but Osman did a decent enough job, good to see Coleman starting again and everyone played pretty well. Sat back a bit too much after the first goal, but fought well and then some lovely play by Baines to set up Timmy for the second :)

Onwards and upwards now hopefully. Derby next on Oct 17th, got our tickets and can't wait for that :D

Sunderland were much the better team against Man United and were unlucky to only get a point. Everton got a good win at Birmingham. Tottenham came from behind to beat Villa with two goals from Van der Vaart. Wigan won a boring game against Wolves in the early kick off.

In the Championship, Cardiff got a good win at Oakwell despite missing a penalty. Bristol City went bottom after a 3-0 home defeat to Norwich. OPR move 6 points clear at the top with a 2-1 win against Palace at Selhurst Park. Middlesbrough gave away a 2-0 home lead against Portsmouth to only draw 2-2. Preston did well to hold Reading to 1-1 despite having a player sent off.

The big game in France between St Etienne and Marseille ended in a draw. Gignac opening the scoring for Marseille and Batlles equalised for St Etienne. Promoted side Arles Avignon stayed on 0 points after a 4-0 home loss to Champions League side Auxurre. Bordeaux beat Lorient 1-0 and Lyon beat Nancy in a 5 goal thriller.

Steve McClaren's Wolfsburg were held to a 1-1 draw by Borussia Monchengladbach. Hamburg overcame Kaiserslautern with two second half goals to win 2-1. Mainz continued their unbelievable start to the season with their 7th consecutive win. They are top of the league having played seven and won all seven. Not a bad start for a team tipped for relegation. The big match in Germany is tomorrow when Bayern Munich travel to Dortmund.

Only two games in Serie A. AC Milan moved to the top with a win against Parma thanks to a magnifcant goal by veteran Andrea Pirlo. Udinese beat Cesena in the other game with a last minute goal from Benatia.

Loads of big games across Europe tomorrow with Bayern going to Munich, Inter hosting Juventus and Chelsea playing Arsenal.

Karl Henry tackle and repugnant fat Sam

Here is the video showing Karl Henry's latest leg breaking challenge. Well done to Lee Mason for getting the red card out straight away, it's just a shame that the FA don't want to highlight this kind of violence by giving extended bans of at least six games, that's what this kind of recklessness deserves.

The most worrying thing is that Karl Henry seems to be aggrieved that he has been sent off, he seems to think he has been harshly treated and it should only be a yellow card. The amount of force that he has put into the tackle is truly frightening, it is just incredibly lucky that Gomes has come out of it without a shattered bone.

There were a few other poor tackles yesterday, N'Zonzi's straight legged lunge against Stoke stood out and deserved a red card for it's recklessness. Fat Sam's comments on bad tackling yesterday also showed just how regressive some people's attitude is. He talked of football being a game of eleven versus eleven and said that yellow/red cards were 'game spoilers'.

Fat Sam may think that leg breaking tackles are just mistimed accidents but that is just plain nonsense coming from a man whose team go out to make up for their lack of skill by being overly dangerous and aggressive. The 'game spoilers' are the likes of Allardyce and Pulis who instruct their teams to go out and win at all costs. The tackles that are so overly forceful and violent that they routinely break bones are the 'game spoilers'. Teams that play like fat Sam's need to be punished properly to wipe them out of the English game, the FA need to step in the punish reckless tackling properly. The fact that Karl Henry only gets a three game ban for his tackle is beyond a joke.

Yellow and Red cards are game spoilers.
No, you fat bastard, broken bones are game spoilers.

Ian Wright
It was a rare bit of insight from the former Arsenal striker, which, with a bit more expanding will have gone a long way to belie his recently acquired "jester" tag. In the article he wrote: "In my opinion, the art of tackling is dying and many current Premier League players think they can tackle - but a great many can't. This is why we are seeing an increasing number of broken bones and ankle injuries." Certainly with the increase in the number of traumatic injuries and mistimed tackles it begs the question, just what has happened to the state of tackling and is, as Wright says, really dying?

It’s official, Arsenal have the most ‘babies’.

The Gunners were recently revealed officially as the average lightest and shortest squad in the Premier League while Sunday’s opponents Chelsea were found the tallest and heaviest at an average of 6ft 1 and 13.1 stone.

Indeed, those facts are of no surprise to many who have witnessed the Gunners buckle under physical pressure – mostly away from home.

And through the additions of the likes of Chamakh and Squillaci, Arsene Wenger seems to be gradually addressing Arsenal’s lacking physical factor, the main shortcoming opponents exploit against his side.

The opposition’s strategy to out-muscle Arsenal has grown ever since the departures of the physically imposing (and successful) class of Adams, Keown, Vieira, Gilberto, Pires and company.

Yeah, and it was very… theatrical. I stood in front of your cameras (BBC) last week and discussed a tackle which left one of my players with a broken leg and he’s out for 6 weeks and the impact of that was far greater. It wasn’t as theatrical. Adlene didn’t go flying up in the air and, uh… we have a guy with a broken leg.

Today, it was theatrical. But it was a really reckless challenge. He didn’t need to make the tackle. I mean, he’s a fantastic guy Karl, he wants to help everybody. He could have helped us and himself if he’d have just stayed on his feet.

Why bring up the fact that Jordi Gomes was “theatrical” if not to try and minimize what your player has done? Why bring up the fact that your player has a broken leg when he wasn’t even in the game unless you want to try and shift the blame somewhere else? I think he catches himself doing this and that’s why he shifts back at the end there. But of course, as soon as he does that he has to say what a great guy Henry is.

Which is how he wraps the whole thing up after the BBC are done with him

He (Henry) is not that way inclined, he doesn’t kick people. There’s no problems with discipline and attitude at the club.

I’m sorry but it sure looks like he actually is that way inclined and in fact it is starting to look like with 4 losses in a row and 2 leg breaking tackles in 4 games there might just be a problem with discipline at Wolves. If McCarthy can’t see it, then maybe he’s part of the problem?

LOL Jordi Gomez was theatrical???? What kind of planet is this twat on?

We played quite well in the Europa League qualifiers, and against Arsenal in the opening game, other than that we've been awful... even when we beat Bucharest 4-1 a couple of weeks ago we played terrible and they actually deserved a point.

Hodgson seems to think playing defensive football week in week out is going to solve all our problems, which clearly isn't going to work when players like Gerrard and Meireless are better going forward. Poulsen is ****e aswell, having him as our defensive mid isn't going to help us.

They have too much for blackpool, they should still be winning that game at home..

Liverpool have too many average players - simple as that.

Their form is not surprising.

Sorry but that's rubbish. They should be pummeling teams like Blackpool with the team they've got, especially at Anfield.

Shocking result for them whatever way you look at it.

Thats what was said about West Brom against Arsenal, virtually no chance of winning but the players got the result and surprised everyone.. unpredictability at it's finest:).

Question of the day.

Will Martin o' neil take the liverpool job if it comes available..

I think he'd be a fool to unless the financial and club ownership mess gets sorted out. I feel sorry for Woy tbh, the clubs in free fall and any manager going there now has got a mammoth task and will get little praise or slack.

Yeah I like him too, and he's a proven manager with a great track record, I just think he went there at the wrong time with the club in too much of a mess and the fans maybe expecting too much too soon and will probably regret it. I hope they give him time to turn things around though, it's gonna be a marathon and not a sprint for Liverpool to get back to their best.

Fabregas makes such a difference for you got to admit, amazing amazing player.

It's the opposite with us, we seem to get some luck and play better overall against the big teams and not so much against teams we should be beating, although a lot of those teams do play very defensively tbf.

Yeah the West Brom game was disappointing, but there's been some crazy results already and a long way to go yet. Like I've said before I've got a good feeling about Arsenal this season, you just need a good run of games and when you get your best players back you'll be fine :)

I hate to say it but I really think's it's gonna be Chelsea's year again.

Would love Arsenal to win it though or at least get second place above ManUre.

Speaking of Utd...

Everton boss David Moyes is lining up a shock move for Manchester United starlet Federico Macheda.

Moyes will sound out Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson about taking the 19-year-old on loan in a bid to bolster his mis-firing strikeforce.

Macheda knows he faces an uphill battle to make his mark on the United first team this season with Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen ahead of him in the pecking order.

So, United may let the Italian out for a temporary period to build up his first-team experience.

Interesting :)

Van persie - Drogba
Fabregas - Lampard

Bendtner - Kalou

What would chelsea look like if they were like that.. lol.

Arsenal passed the ball about well but never really made Cech make a save. Chelsea's defence was strong and that brilliant goal from Alex finished Arsenal off. Liverpool's poor form continued with a defeat at home to Blackpool. I can seriously see Liverpool 'doing a Leeds' and getting relegated in 3 or 4 years. Their next game, after the international break is against Everton (Who will be pumped up for it) at Goodison Park. An Everton victory will probably see the end of Hodgson's time at Liverpool in my opinion. Most people thought Blackpool would be in League One now going to Essex to play Dagenham & Redbridge or to Cumbria to play Carlisle but instead they are going to and winning at Anfield. Remarkable start from them. In the other match Man City didn't play well but they won and that's the important thing. What a player that Johnson is going to be.

In Spain, Mourinho's Real Madrid thrashed Deportivo 6-1 and Barcelona were held at home to Real Mallorca. It ended 1-1.

Inter and Juventus drew 0-0 in Italy. Roma lost at 1-0 at Napoli.

Borussia Dortmund beat Bayer Munich 2-0 with second half goals from Barrios and Sahin.
