I loved it, I like how Disney are taking cues from Pixar since pretty much every animated film from the past few years from Disney have been a home run. Only bad thing about it was that it was a little rushed in parts.

Into the Woods

I thought it was terrible. The characters were underdeveloped and the plot was fragmented and weak. Pretty much every big moment happened off screen and we only got to see the aftermath which made it all feel very unfinished. It's a complete and utter mess.

I downloaded this expecting it to be about homosexuality, it's not at all, I really should find out what films are about before I start them, it's kinda focus is on rednecks in the 80s and there is another story about a family feud from the civil war thrown in. It wasn't that good 2/10

..I don't want to give too much away, although obviously it's factual so that's hard to do...I would say that it doesn't really lean toward sentimentality/which is good so it's not sad as such, although there are a few moments when it's quite emotional..when he finds out about his Motor Neurone Disease...and probably especially when Jane finds out about it and how she deals with it through their lives...his friendships in general were quite uplifting ..but yeah, it moves quite quickly through the stages of the disease and it's more about how he and his family and friends accept and adapt to it...(I think..)..that you'll like it...

The Imitation Game - Great film, really enjoyed this. 8.5/10
It's absolutely appalling that any gay men were treated so badly not all that long ago either but more especially a man who saved over 14million lives to then be treated so disgustingly, makes me sick. I'm glad his story has finally been told though

American Sniper - not a huge fan of war movies but I thought this was really good, Bradley Cooper was fantastic in it. He's turning out to be a really decent actor actually. 8/10
The ending was awful though, after everything he went through and to make it out of the war alive and then his battle to try and get his head straight afterwards to live a normal life again, only to get murdered by one of his own, that was soul destroying D:

Yeah, it really surprised me.

I was watching Breakfast on BBC the other morning and they had some film critic on there who said exactly what the ending was. I know it's a true story and all but I still think things like that shouldn't be talked about when they're promoting the movie, completely takes away from it. I know I'd have come out of it with a lot less of a "wow" factor if I'd known beforehand that he got killed in such a way.

Oh that's really ****ty, tbh i didn't even know it was a true story till right at the end. That was really bad form, he could have atleast warned people who didn't know Chris Kyles story that he was about to give a potential spoiler. A film critic should know better

Inherent Vice - 7.5/10 - If you go into it knowing that you're supposed to feel like the main character, i.e a pothead, while watching, then you should love it. The storyline starts out straight forward and then gets so crazy and it's nearly impossible to keep track and put all the interlinking details together. I thought it was great and it's definitely one that I'll watch again.

The Gambler - 4/10 - So disappointing. The storyline started out fairly interesting but went downhill in the second half, the characters on the whole weren't that interesting. Wahlberg and the soundtrack were very good though.

John Wick - 8/10 - Some of the best action sequences I have ever seen.. I can't believe how real they made the headshots look. A career reviving movie for Keanu Reaves.

The Theory Of Everything - 8.5/10 - Very touching film and Eddie Redmayne absolutely must win the Oscar for Best Actor, faultless performance.

Wild - 7/10 - Great performance from Reese Witherspoon and she definitely deserves her Oscar nom. But I think, for a person like me that is interested in travelling, that Into the Wild is the much better option. Wild is very good and I enjoyed it a lot, but more so for the characters than the travelling aspect.

The Imitation Game - 9/10 - Absolutely brilliant. I've never really liked Cumberbatch tbh, I've always found his face pretty annoying but he was amazing in this. Was really disappointed in how the main character ended up being treated in real life, but it's a wonderful film.

Two Night Stand - 3/10 - Meh. Interesting concept but not that funny and a wasted opportunity.

And also 300 rise of an Empire which was very enjoyable, not as good as 300 obviously but much better then Immortals and im glad they brought back some of the old characters like Dilios and Queen Gorgo, was great how they did the movie before during and after the events of Leonidas's war with Xerxes and it was interesting to get some background on Xerxes and how he became a god, hopefully Dilios gets the final blow on him if they make the final instalement, which they should judging from the ending

The Interview

major disappointment. The plot was incredibly rushed, the characters were trite and irritating, the comedy was largely based on either dick jokes, borderline racism (I'm so over Hollywood's idiotic Korea jibes... like since when was a dictatorship an excuse to do slanty-eye impressions?) or celebrity cameos... I normally love Franco/Rogen films, probably because they're laidback and not trying to be satirical about one issue let alone two (N.Korea and vacuous celebrity-culture), but this just blowed.

All I can recall liking about it was the soundtrack and Joseph Gordon Levitt being crowded by puppies. 2/10.

I have revised this to a 4/10 after the ending Firework montage

Battleship- Let me just say that I had zero hope of finding anything good about this movie at all. It had a rating of 2 stars on Netflix, and if my memory serves, about a 2/10 from the general media when it came out. That being said it wasn't the worst movie I have ever seen. Script wise... yeah someone could have put more effort into dialogue, and who even knows why Rhianna was there... but we made the movie into the game Battleship in our minds, and we got to yell out :fist: "you sank my battleship" alot which made us laugh so I give it a rating that is much higher than I thought it would be:
5/10

The Imitation Game So so so so so so good!!! Knew it would be good but it exceeded my expectations. Cumberbatch was brilliant, and I was even surprised how Keira Knightly performed. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy -- 9/10 -- I am a big fan of Le Carre, and loved the TV version with Sir Alec Guiness, and Oldman is brilliant and in the same vein.

The Babbadook -- 5/10 -- A few jumpy moments, but a weak ending.

Lethal Weapon -- 8/10 -- Pure escapist enjoyment, and the 'buddy, buddy' relationship with Gibson and Glover is well written and superbly acted.

Zombieland -- 7/10 -- Not much new but Woddy Harrelson is great and it's an highly enjoyable comic romp.

Whiplash - 9/10

It had a kind of Fincher feel about the direction, just a really dark and tense drama that was full of violence and intimidation... Simmons was fantastic, and probably one of the scariest and most intense characters I've seen on film in a long time... and Miles Teller was pretty great and sympathetic as the protagonist too. I'm really unfamiliar with the jazz world so it was an interesting film to me (although I understand a lot of jazz fans aren't happy with the idea that ruthless, play-until-you-bleed practice is what it takes to be great).

i_5yGctest8

8/10 - It loses a point due to some of the licence the movie makers played with the facts, which come to light in the special features. The film is based on the book Annie's Box. Annie was the eldest child of Charles Darwin whose death devastated Charles and caused him to lose his Christian faith. The part of the film where Annie dies also brought tears to my eyes, probably because it made me think of how my mother died last year.

I always enjoy this one a lot. It gets quite a hard time (unfairly so imo), a big part of which is likely down to people either comparing it to Scream or just viewing it as a knock-off. There are definitely some "eyeroll" moments, but I can live with that (especially in this genre). I just find it to be a really enjoyable slasher, nothing to be taken too seriously. I also appreciate how the film creates a real atmosphere without needing to rely on excssive gore (there's much less graphic gore than usually seen in these films). Also, as a fan of the whodunit aspect of these movies, I loved the reveal of the killer and that there was a reason for what was happening.

8/10

Gone Girl.

Only recently read the book (despite the Oscars spoiling the bloody 'twist')... I enjoyed both a lot, even if the book's ending was quite dissatisfying. The film was a great adaptation - very dark, the right amount of tension and a brilliant pair of lead performances.

The only downsides I'd say are that the story about the parents' weird psychological ****ing-up of their daughter was a bit ignored, and the actress who played Go was... I don't know... just nothing like how I imagined her, I guess. And then there's the plotholes that emerged in the book...

Like surely Desi's cameras would've shown him (and more specifically her) acting all loved-up and far from 'captive'

I'd give it an 8/10 though. Just for having Neil Patrick Harris murdered :flutter:

Birdman

It's easy to hate on the winner of Best Picture, but whilst I wouldn't say it's the best film of 2014 I saw, it was a pretty awesome one. I think it would've deserved the performance Oscars more - Keaton, Stone and Norton were all amazing. I found the development and story all a bit hard to follow, and it was a very claustrophobic film - the jazz drumming just made me want to rewatch Whiplash tbh - but I'm definitely willing to keep this theme going and give it an 8 as well.

Copenhagen - 8.5/10 - Great film. The two leads done an amazing job and it was a really interesting take on a pretty serious subject. My second favourite travelling film after Into the Wild.

Cinderella - 7/10 - Only watched this because the King in the North's in it but it was a pleasant surprise. Very good cast and well paced film, I don't know the original film/story all that well so I don't know how accurate it is in terms of that, but it's a very enjoyable movie.

I really liked Dawn of the planet of the Apes

....my OH really liked it as well...I just found it lacking of much storyline..but maybe some of that was because I watched it on the same evening as Guardians of the Galaxy and I loved that so Dawn of the Planet of the Apes just seemed quite bland after that...

..Still Alice..

..an incredibly compassionate performance from Julianne Moore as Alice with some hear breaking moments...after she found out that she had Early Onset Alzheimer’s, then discovering that her eldest daughter had also inherited the gene...a moment when she forgot who her youngest daughter was...her failed attempt to take her life when the disease had progressed and she no longer knew who she was...

..I found Alec Baldwin quite cold as her husband though/there was only one scene toward the end of the movie where he seemed to show any emotion/and he didn’t give her what she wanted which was for him to take a year out of his work so that they could spend that time together while they were able to/I really found that hard to understand.....but I loved her relationship with her youngest daughter, Lydia/ Kristen Stewart...

...anyway I won’t give the movie a rating because I don’t generally like movies that make me feel too sad ..and that also makes it hard to say that it was a good movie but it was very thought provoking and beautifully portrayed

..oh you watched it, I'm glad you enjoyed it..

..actually I didn't like the ending at the time but in hindsight it was a good ending in that it went back to the opening when he had seemed the psycho but it was actually her and we understood why he would want to kill her...I think that I'm going to read the book now though because there were a few things that I think may be in that, that weren't expanded on enough in the movie...when she killed her ex and made it look like he had held her captive and abused her etc..?...the cameras in his house would have shown that wasn't so because of all of the previous recordings..?..so if she has set up previous things that had backed up that abuse, it didn't explain that...plus, it just felt that it was all kind of just dropped so easily by the police/FBI on her word and showed them to be a bit bumbling and incompetent, I thought..

..also, I feel maybe her parent's characters are explored more in the book and explaining more why she was how she was...

Kingsman: The Secret Sevice - 7/10 - Done a really good job of mixing the fun in with the serious content of the film. Interesting storyline, good characters, quite funny at times too. I'm not sure what the plan is but hopefully this turns into a franchise.

Focus - 3/10 - Huuuuuge letdown. The gambling scene at the Superbowl was really well done but everything else was dull, lifeless, and the end was absolutely stupid.

Jupiter Ascending - 2.5/10 - Pretty much the same as above except that it doesn't have Will Smith's likeability to carry you through certain parts. Probably the least amount of chemistry I've ever seen between 2 love interests (Mila Kunis and Channin Tatum), Eddie Redmayne was pretty bad as well, and if you're going to have Sean Bean at least kill him off to keep up his record.

Unfriended - 7.5/10

A surprisingly decent and unique take on the found footage genre. The acting was never going to be great but they all done a good enough job of playing witless/unlikeable characters who soon turn on eachother in panic. I don't know where they could go with a sequel but the use of Skype and video calls were used in interesting ways.

Avengers: Age of Ultron - 7.5/10

Very good, about equal with the first movie I'd say. I liked that they gave a lot of development to the Hulk and Hawkeye, that was one of the problems I had with the first movie, they didn't really expand on those two enough. Thought it was pretty good how they fit the other supporting characters from the individual movies in too (Peggy, Heimdal, the wing guy, etc). If RDJ isn't back for the future installments I think they'll lag from this point on though, the Avengers movies in particular rely on him too heavily.

The special effects are wonderful, Charlize Theron & Tom Hardly are brilliant on screen together. There are fantastic baddies, they're really creepy. The whole thing is like a mixture between sometype of dark circus and a roller coaster ride.

Abandon in the dark 2014

Kane Hodder stars in this anthology film comprised of 4 short horror/suspense stories seamlessly connected to one another through gripping real life conflict and extreme tension.

Frist story is about man who knows his boss is going to fire some of his Co workers , which he had to sign, which annoy s the one that are fried.

After that story get a bit predicable and the girl who plays his can not act at all.

Then second story about single father and his daughter is sick hospital and do anything to make her better

This one was a little twist and bit confused at the end

The third story is about girl who on Help line for depressed people and then she getting to one until it get bit darker with his tone there twist but it really predicable

Four is about wife who angry at her husband for talking to another girl from previous story and they get home to find his wife as be lying to him

it really low budget, which dose show at time , it nice and little different compared to recent one as there ghost, demons , zombie and no gore want so ever

6 out 10

Nightlight 2015

This is yet another one of those found footage movies and another that his set in the woods

well we have a number of kids heading into wards woods to play night light.

Well I never herd of that game before, you know story,.

The kids are having fun , playing games and for while and soon then later , they all end up getting separated and bad things start happen then.

This movie need to be lot clear , what heck was going, I did really no what was actually happens not that it was dark or anything,

I was not to sure if it was ghost , wild animal or what ever at times and why ever it was , you don't really get see much of it at all.

I did not like how the movie was edited as it felt like spent too much time on just two people and they met they maker and then they decide to show other two people we had not see for about 30 min

I assumed they dead way before they reappeared as they were off screen for far to long.

Well the main thing , this movie add nothing new, found footage , same old same old.
The acting was not that good either

4 out of 10

Echoes 2014
When I saw the trailer for this movie , I thought it looked really creepy and but now I wish I didn't see the trailer before the movie

As I was watching the movie , I felt like already seen half of it as the trailer so most of creepy parts in the movie

however there are some turns in the plot , which did confuse me for a while but in the end most of the movie is very predicable

There are one or two were still tad creepy but those scenes are in the trailer

The acting was okay but there were poor acting in some parts of the movie
6 out of 10

The pact 2
why did I even bother , I didn't even like the first , this was even worse 2 out of 10

Prom ride 2015
Person filming there Prom , there also CCTV in the limo

For me this movie started off to glee(ly) , that singing and dancing scene went on for to long and then they take there time to get ready for the prom.

to me it seem really odd to have in this movie as the rest of the movie had a different feel to it .

Then there lmo gets hijacked and messing around with them , tells them to do things or be killed

Few secrets come out and some friends started turn on each other

this was a odd movie, I found some parts watchable others not and I say the same about the acting

I am going to give this a 4 out of 10

Hooked up 2013
Another one of those shaky cam movies
This time it's about two guys , who end up going out for night and get drunk

they each hook up but then end up going to one of girls house That girl as one hell of DEAD secret !

This movie takes some time to get going ,

When it's dose there a lot running around and arm flapping going with one guy
There was were some decent bloody moments in this movie , which I enjoyed.
This was very odd and strange movie , I enjoyed some of stuff

So I am going to give it 5 out of 10

Private Number 2014
A series of cryptic phone messages and visions haunt a writer while he struggles to finish a novel. As they increase in intensity, he loses his grip on reality, eventually obsessing

this movie didn't not take long to get going and it flowed really well , movie felt really fast pace ,

There was good scene in this movie , that I really enjoyed and thought there they were a tad creepy

I liked how the plot came to an end , I enjoyed turn in story but it did cross mind in the part of the movie, that he might lead that way.I thought acting was very decent from the cast
7 out of 10 really good movie

Beautiful People (2014)
The movie start of typical home invasion movie , normal same old and same old stuff

But this time, the home they invaded belongs to rich doctor , who was doing some secret experiment in the room downstairs , which is kind of lab.

Turns out the doctors had these zombies locked up down there and they were let out. and that when it turns into zombie movie

The acting was decent in the movie , I liked how the plot came to end.

There were things that did annoy me , I didn't see the point of kid in the movie , he wasn't even in that much ,

the only reason they had him in the movie was , for one of the last scenes in the movie , which puzzled me even more

6 out of 10 good movie

Judas Ghost (2015)

team of professional ghost finders are trapped in an old village hall. The haunting they set out to investigate turns out to be far worse than they anticipated

I thought this was going to be a full on rip off grave encounters but thankfully it was not, I am-sure that grave encounter may have been inspired this movie in some parts.

I love the fact the whole movie in just in that one room, with haunting ,the way they keep you clued to the screen , really clever with a lot things happen in that .

I enjoyed the humour added to the movie , it make feel more fun and enjoyable.

I didn't find the movie scary but I did really like the darkness scene , with I thought was really creepy.

The acting from the whole was great.

I going to give 8 our of 10

Great movie

Pitch perfect 2 - 4/10

Decided to watch it because I ended up watching the first one on a flight home from Australia in January 2013. It was pretty bad compared to the first one. The storylining was pretty poor and it seemed like one of thos prequels which was just made to make money for the production company.

Not enjoyable and I wouldn't recommend.

Before I type I am huge fan of earthquake movies , no matter how bad they are,

San Andreas Quake (2015)

This mock buster
this is one of better from The Asylum (you know what to expact from them )

They seem to have big buget then they normally do

But there some soddy effect , the scene with cartoonist hippo attacking the car ,

Was so bad it was funny and dents in the car went away in a few second later.

I found the movie watchable , it's not one of the worse movie I seen, I seen much worse
then

Then the acting was watchable, they werent great but they did seem to help the movie flow faster.

This is maybe the highest I ever rated the asylum movie 5 out of 10

Now off to see the blockbuster San Anderreas (2015) :

Saw this for the first time in about six years. I remember seeing it in cinema back when it came out in 2004, and loved it. This coming from a guy. Thought I'd give it a watch again, as I had the DVD lying around and some spare time on my hands.
