Legend - Really enjoyed this, more than I thought I would actually, gangster type films are not usually my thing. Tom hardy was fantastic as both brothers, I completely forgot that it was the same person playing them both after a while, they seemed so different. There was a lot of funny moments but enough serious ones to remind you that these guys were thugs really 8.7/10
I really loved this movie. Excellent performances and a great story.

Scream 3 (2000) - 4/10
Remember finding this enjoyable, but having re-watched it again for the first time in a few years, it's quite bad and not on par with the first two films - which are brilliant. Awful dialogue, characters aren't as good and I didn't really care if they died (bar Jennifer ). The killer reveal isn't as good neither is the opening. Long story short, the first 2 ****s all over this in every aspect.
..We're The Millers...really cute cast and lovely weekend movie...7/10...
..Kingsman The Secret Service ..spies and nonsense, what's not to love..and Samuel L Jackson, brilliant as a villain...9/10...

Scream 4 (2011) - 7/10
Great entry to the franchise. Much better than Scream 3. Still holds up well and one of the few modern horror films I actually like. It is a bit remakey of the original Scream, but it pulls it off well compared actual remakes of other films which are just trash. Kirby and Jill were brilliant characters.
Creep (2004) - 8/10
Another one of the few modern horror films I like. It takes place on the London Underground and living in London, that's quite creepy. Really good film. Quite eerie. Highly recommended.
..The Craft...as recommended by Daniel and a 7/10 I think, I liked the characters and the plot ....
..Perks of being a Wallflower again as it was on TV...always a 10/10....

I've just watched 'Big Game' starring the incomparable Samuel L. Jackson and it is a totally ridiculous but highly enjoyable romp which I recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it.
Air Force One and its escort fighter jets are shot down by terrorists, and the President (Samuel L.) crashes his escape pod in the wilds of Finland. Alone and hunted by the terrorists, the President is helped by a 13-year old boy called Oskari who is also alone in the wilderness undergoing a 'Coming of Age' ritual involving hunting.
I will not spoil the film by revealing any more of the plot, but I urge you to watch out for the subtextual homage to Spielberg's classic 'ET' - something every reviewer seems to have missed. The plot - a 'foreigner' lost in an alien world and hunted by sinister forces is helped by a young boy.
I do not know why this has been overlooked, because there is one scene, where Samuel L is actually wrapped ET style in a shawl whilst riding in the back of a snowmobile driven by Oskari as they climb a hill with the night sky in the background, which parodies the famous 'bike' scene in ET, and is - for me - the funniest scene in a very amusing film.
Watch it and enjoy.

The Hitcher (1986) - 7/10
First time watching this since 2009 and it still holds strong. Brilliant 80's thriller film. Very suspenseful and eerie and has some slasher elements to it too, thought it's not necessarily a slasher film.

Just watched Donnie Darko. A really solid film, the story is great and so is the acting, especially from Gyllenhaal. 8/10
..Me and Earl and the Dying Girl..I'm always really reluctant to watch this type of movie because the outcome and ending is so inevitable...but this was a truly lovely film..the three lead characters are so 'misfit' and likeable...well all of the characters are so deliciously 'kooky' and it had Jon Bernthal in as well so... just very thoughtful and very tenderly done../I loved it...so 9/10 I think....

Wolf Creek (2005) - 9/10
This movie is BRILLIANT!!!! It's the first time I've seen the film fully, as I've usually seen bits and bobs from it on TV a few years back. It actually had me quite frightened and on the edge of my seat, which is rare as horror films hardly ever scare me, but this done kinda did. It didn't help that I watched it at 1 in the morning either. The first half is just getting to know the 3 main characters, which is good as there's also character development in the film and you feel like you get to know the characters, so you feel sympathy for them when they're getting tortured. Then the 2nd half is disturbing yet gripping at the same time. There's quite a few uncomfortable and creepy scenes to watch in the film, especially when Mick tries to rape Kristy, and when he chops 3 of Liz's fingers in one swipe. :worry: The end was quite unpredictable, I thought. Overall, it's a good, eerie, horror/thriller film. It has great acting, good character development, and when it gets scary, it's even better. Mick makes a very creepy and quite disturbed killer. And you really feel captured in the film and feel so sorry for the characters.
Highly recommended, it's one of the few modern horror films I like.
(It's also based on true events too)

Wolf Creek is so good, need to watch it again soon. I like it when the survivor is someone you don't expect to survive and that's the case with this film imo. Also, the scene with the old man at the car + the sniper is brilliant

I loved it!
It's on the Halloween Countdown in two weeks, so you could watch it then.
And yeah, I loved the unpredictability of it all. At first you expected Liz to survive as she just had that calm, down to earth, maturity about her that most final girl survivors do in horror films, then she ended up getting killed, and when you find out Kristy got away, you thought she'd make it as she was close, but in the end Ben (who we all thought was dead) ended up surviving.
I feel like watching it again. It's one of those unsettling films you can't help but love and makes you mentally scared at the same time.
..Walk The Line..because it was on TV and still one of my favourite movies so 10/10...

Cloverfield - 8/10
This is such an underrated film tbh. The length of the film itself is perfect as you get enough time to get to know the characters and the rest of it isn't drawn out for too long so you'll never get bored. It's a nice addition to the 'found footage' genre and it's like a mix between Blair Witch Project and Godzilla for those who haven't seen it. The monster isn't anything special but the smaller, more spider-like ones are great, and the subway scene is done brilliantly. Also, there's not any characters that you find yourself disliking, which is unusual for horror films

Knock Knock - 3/10
Been looking forward to this for months since seeing the trailer.. ends up being the second biggest disappointment of the year after Terminator Genisys. The opening 20 minutes or so were decent enough, but as soon as they had the threesome it was all down hill. It ends up getting to the point where you just want to turn it off because the 2 girls are so annoying and Keanu's character is an idiot. The way they killed that family friend off was hilarious as well. So bad...

I need to get into watching movies again... I have a tendency to just leave the TV on netflix and half pay attention... but the last one I watched was some Dutch/German thing called 'Boys' on Netflix about coming out. It was kinda nice, and a bit refreshing from the usual "everything turns out ok for the protagonist!" arc you usually find in queer cinema. Is that a spoiler? Idk. I'd give it a 7.

Dope - 8/10 - A great "coming of age" film about a young guy in the hood who is classed as a geek and ends up falling into the criminal world. Some really good performances from relatively unknown actors (and a couple of rappers). From all the ones I've seen so far I'd have this as #3 of the year behind Ex Machina & Straight Outta Compton.

Was a bit of a mess from start to finish really. Rushed jokes, a lot of physical gags, some forced controversial-banter from Elizabeth Banks and her cohost, and aside from a sentimental campfire moment just wasn't really that enjoyable. Good song choices though, and the Green Bay Packers cameo was fun. 4 or 5/10.

Didn't expect much really but it was a good action/spy film, just feel like it has been overlooked a bit because there have been so many this year (Mission Impossible 5, Kingsman, Spy, etc). But yeah, the two lead actors worked really well together and Alicia Vikander was great as always. A nice mix of action scenes, interesting story and comedy. Shame the ending set it up for a sequel because it's probably not going to get one.

It really was horrible. He just didn't care at all, and he must have known he was doing it (unless he had no feeling in his foot!) The thing is I'm just not confrontational at all in situations like that.

..Wild..Reece Witherspoon was perfect as Cheryl/she's one of my favourite actresses anyway and had just the right balance of tough determination/'damaged'/and vulnerability...I don't think it reached the same emotions or beauty of Into The Wild, but still a great movie and story....8/10...

Glad you liked this... I've watched it twice now. Can't remember what score I gave it on here if any, but for me it's a 9 at least.
I can totally see why she did this to try to get her life back on track. It makes me want to do it myself... not that I'm particularly off-track. Loved the two scenes you mention... also the bit when she gets her new back pack and can't stand up with it because it's so heavy.

Circle - 5/10
This actually looked pretty decent, the idea of 50 people waking up in a random room and having to decide who deserves to live was good enough for me. Although it did manage to maintain my attention for the most part and had me guessing who would die next, it was full of far too many clichés. The acting was poor and most of the dialogue made me cringe. The ending was also nothing spectacular, overall a fairly average film

This really is a great movie. I wasn't expecting much when I saw it because it was underrated but I was really impressed. And I've never really been an AJ fan (haven't really seen her in much though, I'm just inclined to hate on her because she married my bf!) but she was excellent in it. Hancock - 6/10
Was a pretty good concept and I thought from the first half of the film it could have been up there with the best superhero films, but it started going downhill in the second part. Would have been better if it had focused solely on Will Smith/Hancock and saved the Charlize Theron revelation for the sequel. Weak villain too. Missed opportunity, but still an enjoyable film.

Whiplash - Yes. Just yes. JK Simmons you are a God. Got flashbacks to one of my music lecturers :fist: (no cymbals thrown at me tho) The final scene is amazing.
Ex Machina - Freaking loved this. Super engaging throughout even though you could kinda tell where a lot of the plot was going. Alicia Vikander and Oscar Isaac are brilliant. Apparently a lot of people hate the ending but I loved it.
Boyhood - Beautifully put together. I remember labelling the preview as gimmicky but it's superb. Serious props to the parents Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke. It's a beautiful embodiment of so many family issues and life in general it's hard not to feel something after watching it.
I'd give all three a 9/10.

The Punisher - 6.5/10 - A pretty good effort, the guy playing Castle was a great choice and the storyline was really good, but some of the attempted comedy was annoying. Should have just kept everything dark instead of trying to appeal to all audiences.
Punisher: War Zone - 5/10 - Incredible action sequences but weak story and a pretty bad ending. The recasting really wasn't needed (even though the new guy actually did quite well), they should have just stuck with the original actor and director's intention for the series. I found the villains more annoying than anything else too, and I usually love Dominic West. Some of the best action sequences I've seen in film though.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - I'll keep this spoiler free but from the very first scene to the very last I was hooked on this. JJ Abrams gets it. He knows what we wanted and he delivered. I looked for negatives but I couldn't find one. I rarely if ever go to the cinema to see a movie twice but this is a must just to see what I missed while my jaw was on the floor. Is it May 2017 yet?? It's revived a franchise that George Lucas nearly murdered which is ironic because he was the creator. Just don't let him near the DVD specials. 10/10 because I can't find any flaws.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 9.5/10
Like Iceman I'll make this spoiler-free. It absolutely catches the magic of the original trilogy and avoids the big mistakes the prequels made. Rey and Finn, the two new main characters, are both really relateable, strong characters, I really liked Poe as well. It was great seeing some of the old characters back again, and the storyline was really good too. Kylo Ren's action sequences are incredible, right from the opening few minutes of the film to the last, although I'm not sold yet on the other 2 villains. I don't think 3D usually makes that much of a difference either, but it was really cool seeing the lightsabers and aliens and what not like that. Definitely added to it a bit.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens :amazed:
I agree with everything Iceman and Locke have said, and mine will be spoiler free too. I'm a huge Star Wars fan and this new chapter more than lived up to my expectations. It's brilliant and I'd even recommend it to people who've never seen a Star Wars film before. Personally I think it's better if you have seen the previous ones but this one still stands alone, which in itself is an incredible feat for a franchise film that has such a huge backstory. It delivered on every level for me. The cast, the story, the humour, the special effects, BB-8 , no jar-jar, I could go on. This film had every right to be a disaster, given the hype and the reverence for the originals, but as soon as the legendary opening titles came on I was beaming lol, and I loved every minute that followed! The only bad thing is that now I have to wait till 2017 for another one! 10/10 - It didn't disappoint me in any way.
Edit: I forgot to mention, there was also some applause in the cinema when it ended which I've never experienced before, which just capped the whole experience off perfectly.

Pretty average, but was still worth the watch. Unlike the other PA's and basically every horror, the characters were actually likeable. The ending was unexpected and gives some meaning to the whole franchise

Probably one of the most bizzare films i've watched. It's just really weird and the character 'Josef' is a ****ing psycho. It's mixture of horror, suspense and black humour makes it a must watch in my opinion

The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Movie
9/10
zQpUQPrAfQM
Although I had to watch it at the Empire Cinema in Newcastle rather than Tyneside Cinema. Tyneside Cinema will screen it, but only to their children's club where you can only go in if you are a parent or guardian of a child in attendance.
If you do go and see it, stay right to the end of the credits, I was the only one who did, and got rewarded with a clever Easter Egg.
If you ever remember the Snoopy TV shows, it sounded like they even had the original voice over artists for the characters
Reason for not being 10/10
It only lost a point because the Red Headed girl speaks to him at the end, and Schulz when he was alive in an interview indicated Charlie would never get to speak to her, so am not sure, if Schulz was alive he would have approved of that scene, although one of the names on the credits was Jean Schulz
And yes I do have a library of Snoopy cartoon books

..obviously sad the Hans died but some great new characters in Rey and Fin, it'll be interesting to see how Rey fits in/family wise...I loved Fin's total confused look throughout the movie, like what the heck, I just thought this girl was hot but goddamn, this is complicated...I have a feeling that Kylo Ren is going to end up as being a good guy and not really over to the dark side...I guess if I could look to find any flaw at all in the flawless, it would be that the lightsaber battle at the end was a little short so I felt a bit cheated there, but just stunning all in all...

A perfect way to take a franchise in a new direction without messing anything up. There was a lot more depth given to Rocky's character in this film than in the previous ones despite him only being a supporting character now (and I've never seen Stallone act so well, to be honest). Michael B Jordan was incredible in the main role too.

Mad max: fury road - amazing movie literally the best action movie I've seen in such a long time. This was my 7th time rewatching it and I was still spotting bits I didn't notice the first time. The movie is just so trilling and so much fun to watch.
I need to watch this again. Brilliant movie. Probably my favourite action movie of all time

Really wish I had seen it in cinemas I'm sure it would of been epic. I have it on blue ray which has behind the scenes stuff, watching them I was so shocked when I saw that most the scenes weren't cgi.

It was incredible in the cinema. I almost don't want to watch it on DVD because I don't think it would live up to it  but I know I will. But yeah I was just in amazement the whole time with the stunts and everything, apparently it took years to put it together and with planning them and everything, what with them hardly using any CGI. But it was defo worth it.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Since I rewatched The First Avenger the other night I thought I'd give the sequel another watch as well. It's a brilliant movie, especially with the revelations about Hydra that affected the MCU as a whole (and still do). The scene with Steve and an elderly Peggy still tugs the heartstrings, their story is so tragic. </3
I do prefer the original (which has an advantage by being set in the 1940s and having more Peggy) but this is still a great movie and probably my next favourite MCU movie entry after The First Avenger.

U mad bro? Winter Soldier is better than First Avenger in basically every way, IMO. I do like it better than I used to, after winter soldier and the avengers movie, than I did on release... Which leads me to think that maybe Cap isn't very well established as a character in that film? I feel the same about the first Thor. Much more enjoyable after seeing Avengers 1 and Thor 2.
In contrast, the first Iron Man is easily my fav Tony Stark appearance... And Ant Man is also pretty spot on as an origin movie.

Just watched Creed.
Made me so warm, fuzzy and happy. The first Rocky is arguably my fave ever movie so yeah..I'm Not biased lol. Good to see Michael B Jordan doing so well too. It's honestly one of the better movies of the year. Filmed beautifully with a couple really top scenes in particular and solid performances from the cast. I think it will most likely be overlooked awards wise due to the genre, but I still put it top 5 of 2015.

The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie (1989)
I saw the other two about 2 years ago, so I thought it time to give the others sequels ago
I enjoyed the frist , I thought it so bad that it good but the seconds one , It was just bad.
This one I found a bit more fun , it was so over the top , the whole movie was just silly.
But it was fun watch.
There were some decent gory or better word would be gooey
Not as good as the first but better then the second.

The Good Dinosaur
I enjoyed it but it did lack that special Pixar touch, it felt more like a good Dreamworks film than a Pixar. It's pretty good in it's own right but it was released in the same year as Inside Out and Big Hero 6 and it looks worse than it actually is for it.

He was by the funniest of them all.
Small Spoiler , I can't not metion, the scence with thr unborn babies fighting in womb

Knight Of Cups - 4/10 - New Bale film #1. I remember first hearing about this a few years ago and was really excited for it, my favourite actor, one of my favourite actresses (Natalie Portman), and one of the best Directors around... Then it got hit with loads of delays and I can kind of see why now. It falls short in pretty much all aspects, it feels like it tries to be an art film but just fails. Would like to say that the performances save it but there is no material in there to give a solid acting performance, it's just all very somber. Great cinematography though.
The Big Short - 9/10 - New Bale film #2. This is both his best film and best performance in years, most likely since The Fighter in 2010. Great to see him get an Oscar nomination for it earlier today. Ryan Gosling, Steve Carrel, and Brad Pitt are also in it, and are all really good too, but Bale and Carrel are the two stand outs. Very serious topic but still manages to be funny and also creative at the same time. One of the best films of 2015.

The Revenant - 9/10 - Brilliant performances from Leo, Tom Hardy, and Domnhall Gleeson. You can tell how much effort was put into this film from everybody involved, not just those on screen. I wish the adverts hadn't included so many spoilers, but it was still very enjoyable anyway. I think there should be a couple of films ahead of it in the pecking order come awards season, but it would be really hard to look past Leo for Best Actor after seeing his performance and hearing about the lengths he went through.

I watched Betty Blue this morning, the film is a good 3.5 hours long, it's French with English subtitles, i think everyone should watch this at least once in their lifetime.
It's a beautiful film to look at with the scenery and architecture, and what starts off as a passionate love affair ends in tragedy 10/10

Testament of Youth - 7/10 - Based on a true story of one woman during World War I. Alicia Vikander gives a really strong performance as the lead and Kit Harington (who I think has mainly had an underwhelming start to his film career) was also pretty good. Should be more known really, especially considering the cast.
The Hateful Eight - 7.5/10 - Really enjoyable film, but probably only just about scrapes into Tarantino's top 5 so far (which says a lot about how good he is really). Walton Goggins steals the show as the Sheriff, really has been robbed when it comes to award nominations. My favourite Samuel L Jackson role in a while as well.
Regression - 4/10 - Really disappointing. Stars the GOAT Ethan Hawke and has Emma Watson as the lead female, but just falls short in every department really. Starts out well and just goes downhill incredibly fast.
Comet - 9/10 - I only really watched this because it was written and directed by the guy behind Mr. Robot, but it's one of my favourite films now. Keeps bouncing back and forth over a couples six year relationship, but all within a parallel universe/dream.
Legend - 8/10 - Wasn't quite sure what to expect from this because I really liked the version from the 90's with the Kemp's in it, but this ended up being an improvement. Tom Hardy was brilliant in it.

The Prowler (1981) - Kinda disappointed by this film, found it to be very boring and slow paced, I know as a horror film it should build the suspense but this film took the piss. The killer was very obvious from the start as well. The kills however are what save the movie, some very gory and decent deaths just about makes it watchable. - 2/5
