CURVY Kelly Crabtree will bring New Year spice to Corrie when she launches sexy underwear parties as a saucy sideline.

Viewers will see shapely factory lass Kelly modelling her own red-hot range of knickers and bras and it is not long before the cash rolls in.

Street bosses have decided to make Kelly, played by stunning Tupele Dorgu, 29, one of the ITV1 show’s major characters in 2008.
Apart from setting up her lucrative undies business, Kelly will also find a fella.

But that only happens after she is the subject of a wager to get her into bed.

Dodgy father and son Harry and Dan Mason, who just manage to keep on the right side of the law while running their chain of betting shops, strike the wager over the sexy knicker stitcher.

Cocky bookie Dan – actor Matthew Crompton, 36 – bets his dad Harry that he can get one of the Underworld machinists between the sheets without any problem.
Harry (Jack Ellis, 52) happily accepts and his son soon sets his sights on sexy Kelly as his top target.

Dan gives her his cheesiest one-liners and is on the verge of winning the bet, until Kelly rumbles the scam and cancels their date.

But dumped Dan realises he does have true feelings for Kelly and the pair become genuine lovers.
A Coronation Street insider said last night: “It’s a glowing tribute to the popularity of Kelly’s character that bosses have got some top storylines in store for her.

Skimpy

“They will deservedly push her into the limelight next year and make her one of the show’s leading figures.”
Speaking about Kelly’s new lingerie business, the source added: “She has a stunning figure.
“It will be a real treat for her male fans to see her in the skimpy underwear.”

Leggy Tupele, from Preston, Lancs, arrived on the Street back in 2004 playing the feisty factory worker.

Coronation Street's Rovers Return pub is to undergo a makeover for the first time in years - but is not to close down.

The world-famous boozer will have a minor facelift when landlady Liz Tomlin's (Bev Callard) new husband Vernon (Ian Reddington) drafts in friends to brighten up the 105-year-old watering hole.

A spokesperson for the soap has expressly denied reports in one of today's tabloids which suggests that the pub is to close due to financial problems or turn into a gastro-pub.

They said: "To suggest that the pub will close or change radically is total nonsense. Vernon has a few ideas for new flooring and upholstery that Liz nips in the bud before they even get off the ground.

"A couple of his mates then come in and give the place a lick of paint. It will look a bit brighter and fresher but that is all - and the pub won’t even close for redecorating.

"The bar will stay in the same place, the booths will remain, as will the coloured glass. The biggest change will be a smoking area in the back yard to save punters having to stand out on the Street.

"As for the pub having financial problems that is also rubbish. The Rovers is at the heart of the Street and is a thriving business and will remain that way.

They added: "It is frustrating for us when false stories like this appear and it does cause concern for our viewers but we would like to reassure them that there is no truth in this story at all."

The last notable occasion the Rovers was renovated and refurbished was in the aftermath of the 1986 fire storyline. The establishment was nearly demolished as a result.

from itv website heres tina profile

DOB: 18th April
Marital Status: Single
Address: Lives with mum and step-dad
Occupation: Works in a pound shop

First arrived
Monday, 7th January 2008 when she has a row with Gail Platt in the medical centre.

Character reference
Feisty Tina works in a pound shop in the precinct, but it’s a job she fell into rather than not being smart enough to do anything else. Tina has never felt like she’s fitted in anywhere, but she’s not a pushover by any means. She thinks she knows everything, but doesn’t and would rather be friends with lads than girls, who usually hate her. Challenge her to an arm wrestle and she’ll probably win.

Love life
Tina meets David immediately after having an argument with his mother in the medical centre after she misses her appointment. She storms out and runs straight into David, who’s wearing a new shirt, which she spills a drink on. While the pair are both angry with each other at first, there’s soon a spark between the two.

It’s not long before Tina sees something in David that she likes, no doubt his rebellious streak, which is very similar to her own.
At first Tina is set to tame demon David, but it’s not long before these two are hitting the pinnacles in terms of trouble.

Memorable scene
Drenching David’s new shirt when she storms out of the medical centre.

Coronation Street has gone green for the first time in its history.

The UK's national Recycle Now initiative was today launched on the Cobbles by Weatherfield's own Samia Smith – who plays crimper Maria Sutherland in the soap – in a bid to raise awareness of recycling.

Recycling points on the Street will include green wheelie bins in residents' terraced back yards, an industrial recycling bin for paper and cardboard outside Underworld and community recycling banks for cans, glass and paper outside the Medical Centre.

Of the move, campaign head Fridey Cordingley said: "The introduction of the bins onto the set of Coronation Street is a massive achievement for Recycle Now and with nine out of 10 homes now having doorstep collection services the Street more accurately reflects recycling schemes across the country. Coronation Street is one of the UK’s most popular TV programmes and the inclusion of the recycling bins will hopefully encourage viewers into wanting to recycle more."

Next week sees the final scenes of Coronation Street's Vera Duckworth. Well played to Corrie for keeping how she dies under wraps. There's been nothing in the storylines and even the preview discs have been held back. There's no doubt Corrie will land its largest audience in recent times next Friday as the whole nation gather round their televisions to bid farewell to a Weatherfield legend.

Meanwhile, here are the first pictures of Corrie's Carla having stripped in front of brother-in-law Liam in a hotel room. Carla accidentally-on-purpose books a double instead of two singles in the hope of bedding him. The passion between them is electric but Carla's not prepared when boyfriend Tony turns up at the hotel to surprise her… Will Liam and Carla give in to temptation? Or will Tony throw a spanner in the works?

Actor Kevin Kennedy has paid tribute to Liz Dawn - who is leaving Coronation Street.

Liz, famous for playing Vera Duckworth, appears in her last episode of Coronation Street this evening (Friday).

Kevin - who played Curly Watts in Weatherfield for 20 years - told the Daily Mirror: "When I first arrived on the Street as Curly Watts, Liz Dawn was warm and welcoming, making me feel immediately part of the team.

"I lived in six different places in Coronation Street but living with Jack and Vera was my favourite. There was a magical chemistry at work between Bill and Liz and then with me when I joined them.

"We had a lot of fun taking the mickey out of each other and that came across on screen.

"But Liz is totally different from Vera. She is very much family oriented and is very protective and loyal to her friends."

He continued: "Liz has got a place in Spain which she adores and she will spend time there in the sunshine and back in Britain with her family. And she deserves every bit of happiness."

Liz is leaving the soap due to ill health.

Ken, played by William Roache, is set to run the cafe Coronation Street's Ken Barlow is set to take over the running of Roy Cropper's cafe, when actor David Neilson takes a two-month break from the soap.

Ken, played by 75-year-old Bill Roache, will don a pinny to run the cafe with Becky Granger (Katherine Kelly) with amusing results, after Roy heads to Africa to join wife Hayley in her charity work, reports the Daily Star.

In real life, actor David, 58, is taking time out of the soap to make his first stage appearance in 13 years when he stars in a production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting For Godot in Manchester.

A Corrie insider said Ken and Becky's attempts to run Roy's cafe could be hampered by a personality clash: "Ken is very strait-laced and proper, while Becky can be a mouthy little wench at times."

Julie Hesmondhalgh, who plays Hayley, is taking a year off to spend time with her family.

---------------

Coronation Street's Violet Wilson apparently gives birth while propping up the bar of the Rovers Return.

Luckily for the pretty barmaid, played by Jenny Platt, gay midwife Marcus Dent is at the pub having a drink with his boyfriend Sean Tully - the baby's biological father, reports the Daily Star.

Apprently Marcus, played by Charlie Condou, manages to keep everyone calm and delivers a healthy baby boy, joking: "I think we should call him Steve McQueen - he could not wait to bust out of there!"

It seems Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) even tries to lift the mood by saying: "You do know that when a kid's born in a boozer he gets free beer for life!"

Violet's boyfriend Jamie Baldwin (Rupert Hill) apparently misses the birth because he is who is travelling to London to plan the couple's secret new life.

When the paramedics arrive, Sean (Antony Cotton) is asked if he wants to travel in the ambulance with mother and child - and Violet agrees.

--------------------------

Mel Morton fulfils her dream of becoming a copper – and becomes her dad Jerry’s worst nightmare.

Honest Mel has always disapproved of her family’s shady dealings and aspired to join the force.

But dodgy kebab shop owner Jerry (Michael Starke, 50) loathed the idea of his daughter joining the dreaded bizzies, and now fears he has to watch every word in case Mel turns him in.

Jerry plans a surprise party at the Rovers for Mel (Emma Edmondson, 23) to celebrate her first day on duty. And it is not long before she is being interrogated herself – by suspicious locals.

First up is Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson, 33), who gingerly asks her: “Have you felt any collars yet?”
Even curious Jerry asks her: “Come on, tell us what it’s like. Dish the dirt.”

And it is not long before having a bobby on the Street makes life awkward for some residents.

An insider revealed: “They’ll be looking over their shoulders whenever she’s around and going out of their way to be nice.

“They’re not quite sure whether Mel is her own woman or still one of the Mortons. It makes for some great storylines, and all the cast and crew are waiting to see how her character develops.”

I'm very sceptical when they say that. Sure, they might actually film it three times but all subsequent scenes would have to be filmed three times to fit in with the event. I actually think its planned what they want to do and they only film three endings with two as red herrings. When they say they don't know what ending will be played until the last minute, I'm sure they already know months in advance.

I thought it was silly imo, the way they went from the factory girls to Maria and then to Vera etc was rubbish, and they all acted as if they knew it wacoming.

Could have been ALOT better.

Shaun
19-01-2008, 01:09 AM
There were too many interventions from pretty **** storylines to be honest, but I must admit I had to fight back the tears when Vera died. Jack [the actor of]'s acting was brilliant. Very moving indeed. I'm glad they let her die in a dignified way.

Legend
19-01-2008, 01:39 AM
It was rubbish, definatly an anti-climax. When I saw her a sleep on the couch I knew that she was dead and I was really disapointed, I expected a manic rush to hospital, Jack by her side, "time of death" etc. Not very memorable for her character.

Shaun
19-01-2008, 01:41 AM
I'd rather she died like that, than say, for example, in a car crash or a gas explosion  it gave enough opportunity for a bit of emotion, rather than some special effects.

Legend
19-01-2008, 01:52 AM
Yeah but for a character like Vera, she's been there for ages, she deserved a better ending. Mike Baldwin's death is one I still remember, it weren't any explosion etc but it was a good way to kill off a great character.

Shaun
19-01-2008, 01:57 AM
Hmm yes, I suppose it was a bit of an anticlimax. Still very sad though  [btw, am off to bed if I can find it. Night!]

Tom
19-01-2008, 10:35 AM
I don't think it was a let down at all. I think it was handled very well but there were too many filler scenes.

The storyline was practically identical to how my great auntie died, and my great uncle did exactly what Jack was so on those merits, I think it was very realistic and not too far fetched.

I think that is the type of ending Liz would have wanted because she is extremely ill and struggles to stand up and walk across the room.

I also don't think it was 100% acting. As well as the loss of a character, the people who work on there have now also lost a friend who has been there for as long as people can remember.

Matt08
19-01-2008, 10:43 AM
I think a character like Vera needed to be killed off the show like that, it was more realistic than some sort of explosion or non-realistic ending. I think is Liz Dawn's current health state that she wouldn't have been able to film an action packed death scene. At the end of the day, she had a huge part in deciding how she would leave the show and she came to the agreement to be killed off in the way that she did.

Scarlett.
19-01-2008, 11:46 AM
The Connors shouldnt have been in that episode
The death was like that of the classic Corrie

Coronation Street fans will be pleased to hear that ITV are planning to air a special tribute programme to Vera Duckworth called Farewell Vera.

The programme will look back on the past 33 years of Liz Dawn's beloved character and profile her greatest highs and all-time lows.

Although transmission details have yet to be confirmed, I'm told it will air on Sunday, February 3 on ITV1 at around 6pm.

i watched veras death on friday night and have to say was very dissapointed, although it did have some good elements.
I thought the actress Vicky Binns (Molly) was fab, very realistic, not over the top, just right and praise should go to her.Tyrone and whats-his-face is it Paul? They were also good and their acting was believable.Jacks on the other hand was rediculous, what was the monkey impressionw hen he discovered Vera was dead all about!?It took me a few seconds to realise what he was actually doing!Another thing that annoyed me was how Jack just plodded into the living room, said 'Vera wheres me tea?' or something of the sort, touched her hand and then immediatley assumed she was dead!I mean If that was me Id have been shouting 'VERA WAKE UP,MAKE ME TEEEAAAA!' before even thinking of the fact that she might be dead.Maybe its just me but it seemed so rushed and unrealistic.I also diddnt like the way it kept switching to the other storylines,I think someone like Vera deserved a bigger and more dramatic ending,it felt like everyone was expecting her die that very day!

LOVELORN Leanne Battersby is set to finally find a fella.

Against her better judgment, her heart takes a flutter for new Corrie bookie Dan Mason.

Former vice girl Leanne finds herself falling for cocky Dan after they initially have a bust-up over an unpaid bill at her pizza restaurant.

The dodgy geezer walks out refusing to cough up the cash for his meal.

He insists the tab will be picked up by Leanne’s own chef, Paul Clayton.

Leanne flies into a rage and threatens to call in Weatherfield police.

But she is forced to back down when Paul (Tom Hudson, 21) admits that he owed Dan money and is being publicly shamed into paying it back.

And that confrontation will spark a mutual affection between sexy Leanne (Jane Danson, 29) and the streetwise bookie.

In March, viewers will see her turn away after their flare-up and smile to herself, having realised that she fancies the new guy in town (Matthew Crompton, 36).

“Both Leanne and Dan are very well suited,” revealed an insider.

“It is a great piece of matchmaking by the writers.

“The chemistry will be electric.”

Corrie chiefs are racing to find Jack Duckworth a new woman just days after Vera died.

Fans are set to be shocked by the speed of the move - and the names in the frame. They include Betty Williams, Blanche Hunt, Emily Bishop and Liz McDonald.

New producer Kim Crowther will head a meeting this week to decide who lands legendary slob Jack, played by Bill Tarmey, 66.

More than 12million viewers saw his missus die on Friday night while he had a pint at The Rovers. Actress Liz Dawn, 68, quit the show following ill health.

A tv insider said: "Friday's episode was a blockbuster but the powers-that-be now need to find Jack a new love interest.

"He has always prided himself on being bone idle at home so he'll be totally lost without Vera."

Ladbrokes have already opened a book on Jack's new flame with hotpot hottie Betty at 2-1 followed by Doreen Fenwick at 3-1.

Amazingly, newlywed Liz Mc-Donald is 4-1 alongside old Street favourite Bet Lynch, while Blanche is 5-1 and strait-laced Emily Bishop 6-1.

Sunday 3 February 2008 5:45pm - 6:15pm on ITV1.

After 33 years and more than 3000 episodes, it’s time to say ‘ta-ra, chuck’ to one of the best-loved characters in British soap.

Vera Duckworth – brought to life by Liz Dawn – is departing Coronation Street after entertaining audiences with her fighting spirit, straight talking, flamboyant fashion sense and bust-ups with husband Jack for three decades.

She’s gone but will not be forgotten by Street fans and to mark the end of an era ITV1 is screening a special tribute programme: Farewell Vera.

Bill Tarmey, who plays Jack Duckworth, is one of a number of Street stars including Nigel Pivaro, Johnny Briggs, Julie Goodyear, William Roach MBE, Jenny McAlpine, Antony Cotton, Alan Halsall, and Vicky Binns who contribute to the farewell show, which is narrated by Matthew Kelly.

Vera first appeared in Weatherfield on 19th August 1974 when Harold Wilson was Prime Minister, The Osmonds were at No 1 in the charts with Love Me For A Reason, and Annie Walker was landlady of the Rovers Return.

She worked at Mike Baldwin's factory and later moved into Number 9 Coronation Street with pigeon-lover husband Jack and wayward teenage son Terry in 1983, much to the dismay of their neighbours. But over the years, the Duckworths have become part of the furniture at the Rovers Return and Vera has become one of the most popular characters in the show's history.

Liz Dawn tells the programme she’ll be devastated to leave. She says: “It’s been a natural part for me because I’m a lot like Vera in a lot of ways. I’ll be really, really sad when I say goodbye.”

She also reveals that she was very nervous on her first day, but got into the swing of things and was soon showing her rebellious side in the factory.

She says: “My first scenes were in the old factory, I was just so nervous and yet I enjoyed it.

"One day I said, 'We should get more money for this really because we're actually working a machine and acting.' They took the needles out the following week."

Among the cast members paying tribute to Liz is the actor who plays her screen husband, Jack who is left heartbroken when his lifelong sparring partner dies.

But Bill Tarmey is moved to tears when asked to say goodbye.

“They want me to say goodbye to you, silly old sod,” he says, before wiping his eyes.

Johnny Briggs adds: "She [Vera] was a living nightmare. She was quite cheeky and people like that. She wasn’t frightened of answering Mike Baldwin back."

“Vera really does embody everything that is Coronation Street,” says Julie Goodyear, who played Bet Lynch in the soap.

Despite the many flings, break-ups and tearful rows, Jack and Vera last year celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary.

Bill adds: “The way things run in the world now, there would be two dozen reasons for Jack and Vera to split up, but they never have. Til death do us part.”

it'd be cool if David had a kid

Here are the first shots of Coronation Street's Rupert Hill and Jenny Platt filming their final scenes on-location in Manchester.

Almost a year to the day, it was reported that Jenny - who plays barmaid Violet Wilson - was apparently quitting the ITV soap due to the hassle and fame her work caused her. ITV, however, quickly denied the rumours.

Two months later, it was revealed that Rupert - Weatherfield's Jamie Baldwin - was to quit the ITV soap to "pursue other acting opportunities".

Thereafter, it was taken as read that Jenny - his on and off-screen lover - would be leaving with him.

So here we are, one year on - and they're off. The pair don't officially finish filming until next week but these are their final on-screen scenes together.

1 February 2008

Taking a trip into the deepest, darkest places, the Isle of Man has to offer, the world’s foremost ghost hunter Yvette Fielding and a selection of the best ghost busters from the cobbles of Coronation Street prepare to delve into the spooky unknown. Join Tupele Dorgu (Kelly Crabtree), Wendi Peters (formerly Cilla Battersyby-Brown), Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), Katherine Kelly (Becky Grainger), Kym Ryder (Michelle Connor) and their ghost hunting guide as they prepare to face their most frightening fears yet. Ghost Hunting With…Coronation Street is brand new and exclusive to ITV2, Monday 18 February at 9pm.

This ghostbusting extravaganza takes the Coronation Street stars on the journey of a life time. The first stop is the Gaiety Theatre which dates back to 1899. Paranormal activity here is rife and there have been repeated sightings of a lady in black that sits in the auditorium: she is said to have a particular penchant for musicals. At Yvette’s request the theatre is immersed in darkness and the Corrie team set out to search for the lady. However, it is not until Yvette suggests a séance on the main stage that the mood within the theatre significantly changes.

The next location is Milntown House, which dates back to the 16th Century and is considered to be the Isle’s most haunted residence. The Christian family has lived at the manor house for over 600 years and mysterious figures, likely to be former Christian residents, are said to roam the rooms and corridors. One resident has even reported that bed sheets have been pulled from them whilst they were sleeping.

The last supernatural site for the Coronation Street cast is an ancient watermill. Altogether, it’s a night of bizarre experiences and eerie encounters for our celebrity team.

Join ITV2 this winter as some of the nation’s most loved soap stars embark upon a ghostbusting trip of a lifetime. Will the Corrie kids manage to spend an entire night at the chosen locations with Yvette? ITV2 dares you to tune in to find out.

What they said

Before the ghost hunt:

Jack: I would want something to happen. I would want some physical activity to take place. But if it didn’t I would be really disappointed and if it did I would be terrified as well.

Tupele: I want to be able to say that it was unexplainable, but I am still a bit of a sceptic, because nothing has ever really happened to me before. I need to have proof.

Kym: I will be so scared. I will probably really embarrass myself.

Katherine: I would like to think I will be quite brave, but you just don’t know because I have got a vivid imagination. It will be dark and I have heard the stories, so I think I will be quite jumpy.

Wendi: Maybe I am a bit of a thrill seeker? Whether there is or there isn’t anything out there, I quite like being scared. I am a bit of a control freak and that could be something that might worry me, because everything is going to be out of my control tonight.

After the ghost hunt:

Tupele: I think the most interesting thing was the séance we did. Kym did get quite upset and it wasn’t nice to see someone so overcome with emotions like that, especially when it is quite unexplained.

Kym: It has been unbelievable for me. I suddenly became completely overcome with emotion, on two or three occasions. I didn’t feel scared in any way though, I just felt really emotional and I wasn’t able to hold it back for some reason.

Jack: The theatre for me had more of a pulse about it, but Katherine liked the stately home.

Katherine: I just knew that the minute I walked into the theatre that it wasn’t going to be scary for me. I walked in and I just felt so happy to be there.

Jack: Because you wanted something really scary to happen.

Katherine: And when I think back to the watermill place, we were glad not to get anything and we didn’t push it.

Jack: If we didn’t get anything there it was fine. We were so scared and so we just huddled together and got into the foetal position. Everybody was really glad to get out.

Kym: All I know is that whatever happened was very odd for me and I am a believer, because primarily I get freaked out even by my own shadow.

Coronation Street actor Rob James-Collier has quit after just under two years with the ITV soap over fears of being "typecast".

The 31-year-old, who has played Weatherfield's Liam Connor since 2006, reportedly revealed his intention to leave only days before filming his on-screen wedding to Maria Sutherland (Samia Smith).

A source at the soap told the News of the World: "Nobody was expecting this and it's bad news because Liam has become hugely popular with fans. He won 'Sexiest Male' at the British Soap Awards and they had big things planned for him.

"They wanted the Carla-Liam-Maria thing to really step up in pace, with him finally cheating on his girl with his sister-in-law. It would have given them a brilliant storyline which could have bubbled away until Christmas."

They added: "He says that he doesn't want to be typecast."

A spokeswoman confirmed to DS this morning: "We've known for some time that Rob would be leaving at the end of his current contract. It's given the writers time to pen a really good exit storyline for his character, Liam.

"Rob will remain filming with us until around October and he will bow out on screen at the end of the year."

At around the same time last year, Sean Gallagher, who played Rob's on-screen brother Paul Connor, announced his decision to quit the soap after only five months in the role.

Rob will become part of the growing list of characters to leave the soap. The last few months have seen the departures of Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth), Tina O'Brien (Sarah Louise Platt), Wendi Peters (Cilla Battersby-Brown), Bruce Jones (Les Battersby), Samantha Seager (Jodie Morton) and Zaraah Abrahams (Joanne Jackson).

Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper) has taken a 12-month extended break from the soap but will return at the end of this year, while Julia Haworth (Clare Peacock) is due to go on maternity leave, with her baby due in July.

This month also sees the departure of on and off-screen lovers Rupert Hill (Jamie Baldwin) and Jenny Platt (Violet Wilson).

Bradley Walsh - who played former Underworld boss Danny Baldwin - is still due to return to the Cobbles at some point this year, although nothing has been confirmed.

Coronation Street's Sean Tully apparently suffers a broken heart when he receives a letter to tell him he will never see his baby son again.

The goodbye note from Violet Wilson describes how she and her boyfriend Jamie Baldwin are taking baby Dylan away for a new start in London, according to the Daily Star.

A devastated Sean, who donated his sperm to Violet, apparently weeps as he reads: "I'm sorry we've done it this way, but we didn't know what else to do. All we want is to bring up our baby together like every other family. We wish we could stay, but everyone knows you are Dylan's dad and they'll never let us forget it. I'm sorry."

Rushing out to stop them leaving, Sean - played by Antony Cotton -arrives just in time to see his beloved Dylan in the back as the car drives off into the distance.

He calls Violet's phone again and again, but she rejects it each time and eventually jettisons the phone and heads off to London.

Sean pines for his son, telling his gay lover Marcus: "I've nothing left of my little lad - absolutely nothing."

Violet and Jamie are played by real-life lovers Jenny Platt and Rupert Hill - and are also apparently moving to London to pursue their careers.

I think it will be a big storyline since Liam has been pretty much the face of Corrie since 2006

GRIEVING Jack Duckworth will have his broken heart mended – as he turns into an OAP romeo.

The Corrie legend, played by Bill Tarmey, was left grief-stricken by the death of his missus Vera last month.

Our Street source said: “Everyone is feeling desperately sorry for Jack but there are brighter skies ahead for him.

“The script writers are planning to introduce a couple of female characters into his life.”

One of the new faces will be at least TEN YEARS younger than Jack, who is in his sixties.

But, amusingly, some of Corrie’s current blue-rinse brigade will also try to win his affection, and fellow show veterans Rita Sullivan and Audrey Roberts will be in the queue.

The insider added: “The loss of Vera opens up all manner of strong storylines for Jack. There is a lot of scope for things he never would have dared get away with before.

“Bill will drop regularly in and out of the show and Jack’s turbulent life will allow just for that.”

Liz Dawn, 68, quit after 30 years as Vera to spend time with her family as she battles emphysema.

Docs told her she would have been dead by now if she had not quit smoking five years ago.

Straight after Corrie tonight at 8pm, Liz reveals the effects of the disease in an interview with Sir Trevor McDonald on ITV1’s Tonight.

Aye, I agree, maybe he just has them as lady freinds but the ladys have designs on him, those storylines would be fun with them all ralling around trying to impress him
