We have all been waiting to see the other side of Tony well...
from; http://www.dailystar.co.uk/soaperstar
By John Mahoney
Mechanic Kevin Webster is set to get roughed up by a thug.
The hardman is played by Robert Beck, 37 – the husband of Corrie babe Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby.
And he is hell-bent on wrecking Kev’s business.
Trouble starts when Kevin refuses to sell his garage to ruthless property developer Tony Gordon.
So Tony (Gray O’Brien, 39) calls in local enforcer Dockerson to put some muscle on the mechanic.
Dockerson’s tactics run from pressure on customers to threats of violence and arson.
But how much intim-idation can mild-mannered Kev (Michael Le Vell, 43) take?
In scenes shown next month, cocky Tony will brag: “I’ll get that garage. It’s not spite or pride, it’s just business.
“I’ll not be messed about with glitches like Kevin Webster.”

CORRIE legend Bill Tarmey is to Jack it in after 30 years playing the Street’s best-loved rogue.
We can reveal that the popular star has told bosses he will quit as Jack Duckworth after he reaches the landmark anniversary next year.
His departure follows the break-up of Britain’s greatest soap double act when on-screen wife Liz Dawn, who played Vera Duckworth, left earlier this year.
Last night a pal said Bill, 67. had told bosses that he would sign a new one-year deal in the autumn but it will be his LAST.
“He wants to get to three decades in Corrie, which is a huge achievement. Bill’s not getting any younger and wants to enjoy retirement. He’s got a place in Tenerife and is looking forward to being out there,” added the pal.
“He is not in the best of health and does find the workload on Corrie very tiring.”
The £180,000-a-year star has made slacker Jack Duckworth into one of soap’s most enduring characters. He first appeared in the Street in November 1979, when Vera dragged him to Brian and Gail Tilsley’s wedding—only to have him sneak off for a pint.
Together they provided classic Corrie moments.
Stroke
He briefly owned his beloved Rovers, and in another memorable storyline he was arrested for unwittingly growing pot on his allotment.
And millions tuned in to see Jack say an emotional goodbye to Vera when she died in January. But Bill himself has been dogged by ill-health in real life for years. He suffered a stroke at 36 and was given ten years to live after a heart bypass in 1986.
He needed another bypass in 2002 and had to be brought back to life when his heart stopped after the eight-hour op.
But Bill always refused to give up smoking and has no regrets.
He once said: “If I die tomorrow, they’ll have to prise the smile off my face because I’ve had such a good life.”
A Corrie source told us they were still hoping they could get him to stay on—at least to the show’s 50th anniversary in 2010.
But he added: “If Bill decides to go he will be hugely missed. He has been a huge part of the show for many years.”
http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/1506_bill_tarmey.shtml
I think it's time he left now. Liz Dawn's gone so he might aswell.
He has been a good character, but there is no stroylines left for him.

STREET writers will take a swipe at Britain’s sky-high booze prices by sending The Rovers Return’s regulars abroad for cheap booze.
It all kicks off when builder Bill Webster (Peter Armitage, 54) discovers Newton & Ridley is putting up the price of a pint to nearly £2.50.
Viewers will see him rant: “It’s criminal… have you seen the state of my change? It’s not that long ago you could get a good night out and a curry for a fiver.”
Bill will be seen heading off on his booze cruise with plumber pal Roger Stiles (Andrew Dunn, 50) and their respective partners Audrey Roberts and Janice Battersby (Sue Nicholls, 64, and Vicky Entwistle, 39). A Corrie insider said: “Ale prices are a topic close to most people’s hearts in Britain.
“We are the laughing stock of Europe when it comes to the price of booze, fags and petrol.
“They just can’t understand why everything over here is so dear.
“There’s nothing new in booze runs, but what is going to happen in the Street could easily happen in real life.
“Small backstreet pubs like the Rovers are closing every day because people just can’t afford the ever-increasing price of a drink.
“The effect on a boozer like the Rovers would impact on the whole community. If a few regulars start drifting away, others will follow.”
Corrie fans will see Bill and his chums head off across the water to stock up on cheap booze at the end of next month.

Corrie temptress Rosie Webster is in for a shock when her ex-teacher lover returns to the Street.
The precocious pupil, played by Helen Flanagan, 18, thinks shamed John Stape has come back to rekindle their steamy relationship.
But he has only one thing on his mind - a reunion with Fiz Brown, the girlfriend he betrayed.
Actor Graeme Hawley, 32, who plays sneaky Stape, has started filming scenes to be shown next month.
Stape was last seen at Christmas when he left in disgrace after his bedhopping antics with Rosie.
An insider said: "He ends up working as a taxi driver for Street Cars and Rosie immediately reckons he's come back for her.
"She is totally stunned when she approaches him and he tells her bluntly, 'I don't want anything to do with you'."

Tony (Gray O'Brien) is still determined to buy the garage off Kevin (Michael Le Vell) even though Kevin is equally determined not to sell. First Tony turns the charm on Sally (Sally Whittaker), who had no idea about the offer, and then he gets a surveyor in to value the business, telling an ignorant Tyrone (Alan Halsall) that Kevin has approved the visit. When Kevin returns to find Tony and the surveyor at the garage he is furious and let’s rip at a non-plussed Tony who remains convinced that everyone has their price.
Eileen’s (Sue Cleaver) got a house full of lodgers and asks Becky (Katherine Kelly) what her plans are. Everyone is intrigued by her fallout with Roy (David Neilson) but Becky won’t talk about it. Meanwhile Sean (Antony Cotton) is enjoying being the breadwinner whilst Marcus (Charlie Condou) investigates college courses but with Tony on the warpath is staying in the pub drinking after lunch hour really a good idea?
Liam (Rob James Collier) is starting to enjoy his life of leisure but as he takes delivery of a new juke box Maria (Samia Smith) warns him not to keep putting off sorting out some work. Later he meets up with his cousin Tom (Philip McGinley) and they discuss business options.
Elsewhere Teresa (Karen Henfield) is leading the convalescing Jerry (Michael Starke) astray with trips to the pub.
This episode is written by Stephen Bennett and directed by Pip Banyard. The producer is Kim Crowther.
****
PI for the rest of the week follows:
Monday 7 July 8.30pm
Tony Gordon (Gray O'Brien) is not a man who is used to being turned down and he is more determined than ever to buy the garage from Kevin (Michael Le Vell). Sally (Sally Whittaker) can’t quite understand why Kevin won’t discuss the idea especially when they discover that Rita (Barbara Know) has indicated to Tony that she is willing to sell the Kabin.
But with Kevin digging his heels in Tony is left to resort to even more underhand tactics and after persuading Rosie (Helen Flanagan) to work late, he starts working on her and enlists her help in his battle to change Kevin’s mind. Unaware that she is being used as a pawn in Tony’s game Rosie agrees to get hold of some information for him.
Sean (Antony Cotton) has had a lovely time in the pub with Marcus (Charlie Condou) and returns to work rather tipsy. Despite the girls covering for him though he soon finds himself on the receiving end of Tony’s anger and fired. Devastated he returns home and tells Marcus that their dreams of moving into a new flat are over.
Jason (Ryan Thomas) and Becky (Katherine KellY) have moved the last of her things from Roy’s and she collects her wages before handing Roy (David Neilson) back his keys. Jason is conscious of the number of people staying at Eileen’s and suggests that he and Becky book themselves a holiday.
Mel (Emma Edmondson) is concerned that her dad has been to the pub and blames Teresa (Karen Henfield) for letting him drink. She isn’t convinced by her mum’s tale of woe over her relationship and asks Mel to do a police check on Teresa’s partner.
Elsewhere Tom (Philip Mcginley) and Liam (Rob James Collier) discuss their new business but Liam is less than impressed with Tom’s idea to ask Carla (Alison King) to invest in the company.
This episode is written by Jan McVerry and directed by Pip Banyard. The producer is Kim Crowther.
****
Wednesday 9 July 7.30pm
Maria (Samia Smith) is less than impressed with Liam’s (Rob James Collier) attempts to discuss business with Tom (Philip McGinley) and with the fact that every meeting seems to end up in the pub. As he nurses a hangover she tells him that baby-making is off the agenda until he gets his act together.
Rosie (Helen Flanagan) is incredulous that her dad thinks she is having an affair with Tony (Gray O'Brien) and she flounces out of number four determined to give Tony the info he needs from the garage. When Kevin (Michael Le Vell) leaves for a job she sneaks into the garage and with seconds to spare finally finds the client list Tony wanted. Carla (Alison King) is still feeling slightly uneasy about using Rosie in this way but Tony has no such concerns.
Marcus (Charlie Condou) moves into Eileen’s (Sue Cleaver) but Sean (Antony Cotton) is desperate to get his job back and even bakes a cake for Carla. But with Tony on the warpath over the garage purchase he is not in the mood for forgiveness and Sean’s attempts at apologising falls on deaf ears.
Lloyd (Craig Charles) is not looking forward to Steve (Simon Gregson) returning and finally tells him over the phone that he has told Michelle (Kym Ryder) that he is going to propose when he gets back. Meanwhile Lloyd is also uncomfortable about Becky working behind the bar and tells her he thinks she should quit before Steve returns. But with Michelle keen to keep Becky around it looks as though Steve is going to get a shock when he arrives home.
Elsewhere Sally (Sally Whittaker) is less than impressed with Teresa throwing cigarette buts onto her conservatory roof.
This episode is written by Chris Fewtrell and directed by Pip Banyard. The producer is Kim Crowther.
****
Friday 11 July 7.30pm
Lloyd (Craig Charles) is annoyed with Michelle (Kym Ryder) as she seems to have told the world and his wife about Steve’s secret proposal plans. He confides in Becky (Katherine Kelly) about how it all got out of hand and when Steve (Simon Gregson) finally does arrive back Lloyd knows he will have to face the music. But Michelle gets to Steve before he can tackle Lloyd and an incredulous Steve is also faced with Becky breezing into the Rovers and offering to pull him a pint. How is he going to get himself out of the mess that he has got himself into?
Lloyd meanwhile has other problems to deal with as Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) is becoming more and more demanding – she even insists on him taking her to the pub which he didn’t think came under his job description as her driver.
Sally (Sally Whittaker) tells the factory girls about Tony’s (Gray O'Brien) offer on the garage and Kevin’s (Michael Le Vell) refusal to sell. She asks Rosie (Helen Flanagan) to keep an ear out for any important info – unaware that Rosie (Helen Flanagan) has already sold them down the river. Meanwhile Tony introduces Carla (Alison King) to his mate Jimmy (Robert Beck), a mechanic – his latest weapon in the David and Goliath battle between him and Kevin Webster.
Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) meanwhile is watching Tony at work with a begrudging admiration so he is less than impressed when Norris (Malcom Hebdon) talks to him about how ‘the small fish’ like himself and Dev should all swim together to try and out maneuver the Tony’s of the world. Is this what Dev’s life has become - being more like Norris than Tony?
Elsewhere, after an emotional visit to the prison, Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) feels that Ken (William Roache) is more interested in the past and his school reunion that her and Tracy.
This episode is written by Mark Burt and directed by Pip Banyard. The Producer is Kim Crowther.
*****
Friday 11 July 8.30pm
Steve (Simon Gregson) is like a rabbit in the headlights as he tries to get to the bottom of what has been going on whilst he has been away. Lloyd (Craig Charles) doesn’t want to face his questions and manages to avoid him for most of the day. Becky (Katherine Kelly) is not so lucky but she insists she is staying put and that he should just forget about what happened like she has.
Meanwhile Steve bumps into Maria (Samia Smith) and Liam (Rob James Collier) who seem to know about the ‘proposal’ and when he finally tracks down Lloyd he is fuming. Lloyd points out that he was under pressure and at least he didn’t let on about Steve and Becky but Steve refuses to take responsibility – he doesn’t want to get married again and he blames Lloyd for the whole thing.
Carla (Alison King) and Tony (Gray O'Brien) survey his business empire and he tells her he plans to make ten million quid and retire on his 42nd birthday – despite glitches like Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell). Carla is impressed and assures him that she wants to be around to celebrate that birthday with him.
Ken (William Roache) is apprehensive about his reunion and once there he starts to feel worse as he is forced to admit he still lives in the same house he has lived in all his life. He enjoys catching up with his old friends but it just highlights for him how little he has done with his life.
This episode was written by Carmel Morgan and directed by Pip Banyard. The Producer is Kim Crowther.

A former Corrie actor is set to return to the cobbles this summer.
Kenneth Cope will play the part of an elderly tenant who stands in the way of Tony’s expanding business empire.
The actor played shady Jed Stone (pictured) on the Street between 1961 and 1966.
He’s also appeared in several Carry On films, Brookside and had a leading role in 1960s television series Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased).
Simon Gregson, who plays taxi boss Steve McDonald, has now returned to work following an illness.
The actor has recently taken some time off sick.
A Corrie spokesman confirmed he was back at work.
The spokesman said: “Simon is now back filming again after an illness and is this week catching up on scenes that he missed out on.”

Recent reports that Bill Tarmey is considering hanging up his green jacket and the keys to his pigeon shed and leaving Coronation Street are wrong, say Corrie chiefs. Inside Soap reckon that the rumours are "pure speculation."
Elsewhere in Inside Soap, there's a suggestion that Dan Mason (played by Matthew Crompton) may not be leaving after all, although Jack Ellis (Harry) is still going. "Dan will definitely be around longer than Harry," the magazine quotes a Corrie mole, "But who knows whether he has a future in Weatherfield."
The Mortons are definitely leaving, and Teresa (Karen Henthorn) is going to be central to their exit storyline. "Her impact on the family will be massive, leading to a very dramatic exit for the Mortons - and it could result in a tragic death resulting from Teresa's evil scheme."

Coronation Street's Liam Connor is to be killed off at the end of the year in a 'whodunnit' murder mystery.
The former knicker factory boss, played by 31-year-old Rob James-Collier, announced his decision to quit the ITV soap in February amid fears over typecasting.
It has today emerged that his character will be 'brutally murdered' when one of three well-known Weatherfield residents exact their revenge.
A soap source told The Mirror: "Rob actually wanted his character to be killed off - a bit like Phil Middlemiss did when he also wanted the demise of his character, bookie Des Barnes.
"But at the same time it provides us with the fantastic opportunity to give the viewers some sensational TV. The producers are rubbing their hands at the prospect of the whole murder scenario."
They added: "People are sad to see Rob go as he is such a lovely bloke. But he was adamant that he wanted to leave."
Rob joined Coronation Street in 2006 and appeared in storylines which have seen his character plunge into a gorge from a cliff top, marry Maria Sutherland (Samia Smith) and sleep with his sister-in-law Carla Connor (Alison King).
Earlier this year, he won the 'Sexiest Male' gong for a second year running at the British Soap Awards and revealed soon afterwards that he is "glad" to be leaving the Manchester-based drama so he can ditch his sex symbol image.

July's (hopefully) sunny weather will have a volatile effect on the characters as there's one bust up after another.
Firstly, Becky and Roy have a huge fight. Will this unlikely pairing ever be able to get over their hurtful exchange?
A Corrie couple break up - but not before she makes him feel truly rubbish! Who could they be?
Tony's also on a roll, letting nothing stand in the way of his ever expanding business empire. The fight gets dirty and needless to say it doesn't make him popular with certain Weatherfield residents.
The newly appointed factory boss may be the bad guy for some, but not others, as Dev admires him from afar. July is the period of reflection for the shopkeeper. However he's not the only one re-evaluating his life, as a university reunion prompts Ken to ponder what he's achieved. Is this some sort of mid-life crises for the pair?
We will also see a familiar and not so welcome face back on the cobbles - but what does he want?
There is some good news though as wedding bells begin to chime in the distance...
Scarlett.

Betty gets a storyline
http://www.dailystar.co.uk
BETTY’S famous hotpots could soon taste different if locals succeed in changing the filling to OSTRICH meat.
The best-known grub in soapland comes under attack when residents complain about their fat content.
Some locals even blame the meaty treat for causing kebab seller Jerry Morton (Michael Starke, 50) to have a heart attack.
Rovers barmaid Betty Williams (Betty Driver, 88) is horrified her decades-old secret recipe is being brought into question after Jerry’s ex-wife Teresa Bryant (Karen Henthorn, 44) storms: “All that fatty meat in your hotpots has hardened my Jerry’s arteries and was probably the reason for his heart attack.â€
Butcher Ashley Peacock (Steven Arnold, 33) stirs the situation by saying: “It looks like ostrich meat is soon going to replace all our fatty foods. It’s really low fat and has hardly any cholesterol at all.â€
Betty replies: “We spend a fortune with you every week.
“But if you say your meat is going to kill my customers, then we’ll take our business elsewhere.â€
An insider said: “Writers thought it was time for Betty’s traditional hotpots to come under scrutiny. But she takes it very personally!â€

Steve (Simon Gregson) is still trying to avoid Michelle (Kym Ryder) who is becoming increasingly concerned about the lack of a proposal. Meanwhile Lloyd (Craig Charles) confides in Eileen (Sue Cleaver) about the whole thing, but refuses to tell her where Steve stayed over. Eileen tells Lloyd that he should tell Michelle that he has made a mistake and Steve has no plans to propose. But in the meantime an increasingly under pressure Steve has now proposed to a delighted Michelle.
Kevin (Michael Le Vell) isn’t impressed to find a delivery truck blocking the entrance to the garage. He knows it is Tony’s (Gray O'Brien) doing but initially decides not to say anything. As time goes on however he gets increasingly angry and storms into the garage to demand it be moved. When Tony refuses Kevin takes the matter into his own hands. Carla (Alison King) is concerned that Tony has made an enemy of Kevin but Tony points out that he is merely trying to make Kevin realise how difficult he could make it for him if he doesn’t sell up.
Ken (William Roache) is feeling dissatisfied with his life and surprises Roy (David Neilson) by handing in his notice. Blanche (Maggie Jones) says that it is because he was too embarrassed to admit to his uni friends where he was working.
Elsewhere Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is also wanting more out of life but doesn’t know where to start.
This episode is written by Peter Whalley and directed by Neil Johnston. The producer is Kim Crowther.

PI for the rest of the week follows:
Monday 14 July 8.30pm
Eileen (Sue Cleaver) is still insistent that Lloyd (Craig Charles) tell Michelle (Kym Ryder) that Steve (Simon Gregson) is not going to propose. Lloyd reluctantly agrees unaware that Steve has already proposed and is at this very moment celebrating in the Rovers. Eileen agrees to call Steve over to sign some cheques giving Lloyd enough time to get across to see Michelle. Meanwhile Steve is oblivious to the time bomb ticking away over at Streetcars and celebrates with Michelle and the regulars. Having plucked up the courage to tell Michelle however Lloyd is dropped on when she tells him that Steve has already proposed but now she can’t accept. She asks him not to tell Steve that she knows.
Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Tony (Gray O'Brien) argue about Kevin’s new sign and the parking restrictions between the garage and the factory. Kevin thinks he has finally got on over on Tony and Norris (Malcolm Hebdon) is pleased that he has stood up to him. But Tony is no pushover and returns with the deeds for the factory which clearly show that Kevin has encroached onto his land. Kevin has to agree to move the sign – round two to Mr Gordon.
Meanwhile Tony also decides to start a major charm offensive on Rita (Barbara Knox) aware that his row with Kevin could be outing her off selling too. He takes her to the show flat and makes clear that one of the apartments could be hers as part of the deal.
Dev’s latest plan to try and pep up his life after having a business lunch cancelled is to rearrange the shop – but as Molly (Vicky Binns) points out to Jack (William Tarmey) – this means him scribbling on a piece of paper and her doing all the donkey work.
Elsewhere Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) is not happy about Ken’s (William Roache) decision to pack in his job at the café.
This episode is written by Peter Whalley and directed by Neil Johnston. The Producer is Kim Crowther.

Wednesday 16 July 7.30pm
Michelle (Kym Ryder) is devastated after Lloyd’s (Craig Charles) confession but she tells Carla (Alison King) that she plans to make Steve (Simon Gregson) sweat and see just how far he will go with his little charade. When he tells her that he wants to choose the ring she decides to choose one of the most expensive rings the jeweller has. Steve insists in proposing again with the ring – he is stunned when she refuses, telling him she knows it was all a scam to cover up whatever he might have got up to on the night he went AWOL.
Molly’s (Vicky Binns) efficiency in running the house does not go unnoticed by Jack (William Tarmey) who comments to Tyrone (Alan Halsall) that she is one in a million. Tyrone agrees and confides in Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) and Jack that he wants to ask her to marry him prompting Jack to offer him Vera’s engagement ring. Later in the pub Molly is surprised to bump into her Aunty Pam (Kate Anthony) who has upset Betty (Betty Driver) by trying to flog her knock-off stuff in the Rovers.
Rosie (Helen Flanagan) is enjoying her new found power at Underworld and in a bid to ingratiate herself with the girls she has a word with Tony (Gray O'Brien) about reinstating Sean (Antony Cotton). Tony tells her he values her input and will consider it.
Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) tries to get Tony to play golf with him but Tony isn’t interested – Dev is not impressed when Vernon (Ian Reddington) says he will play instead.
This episode is written by Damon Rochefort and directed by Pip Short. The Producer is Kim Crowther.
*****
Friday 18 July 7.30pm
Michelle (Kym Ryder) tells Carla (Alison King) there is no second chance for Steve (Simon Gregson) and lists all his bad points. Carla knows how much she loves him really and later when Carla speaks to Steve she realizes that he did really mean the proposal. Steve manages to get Michelle to agree to meet him on neutral ground but it is immediately obvious that she is not going to be easy to talk round and she demands to know what happened the night he stayed out.
There’s a nice atmosphere at Molly (Vicky Binns) and Tyrone’s (Alan Halsall) as Jack (William Tarmey) checks that Tyrone is all sorted for this evening. When Aunty Pam (Kate Anthony) arrives to see Molly she soon twigs what Tyrone is up to as Molly reveals he has booked a swanky restaurant for later. Once at the restaurant a nervous Tyrone makes sure the waiter has everything ready for his big moment – but things don’t go quite to plan.
Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is looking forward to his round of golf until Vernon (Ian Reddington) turns up in a rather garish golf outfit with a set of antique clubs. Once at the club it is clear Vernon has not got a clue what he is doing and when Dev bumps into an influential local businessman he is terrified Vernon is going to show him up.
Elsewhere Mel (Emma Edmondson) is still furious at Teresa (Karen Henthorne) and makes snide remarks to Jerry (Michael Starke) about her staying.
This episode is written by Simon Crowther and directed by Pip Short. The Producer is Kim Crowther.
*****
Friday 18 July 8.30pm
Steve (Simon Gregson) decides to come partially clean to Michelle (Kym Ryder) and confesses that he did stay over at a girl’s house but that he stayed on the sofa and nothing happened. Michelle is furious and throws the engagement ring in a skip before storming off. A devastated Steve is left to wade through waste in the skip to try and find the expensive ring.
Back at home Michelle is heartbroken and tells Liam (Rob James Collier) that she wants him to kick Steve’s head in. She doesn’t believe he slept on the sofa and when he returns to the pub stinking of rubbish and begging for forgiveness she throws him out on the street – followed by his clothes.
Jack (William Tarmey) and Auntie Pam (Kate Anthony) excitedly await Tyrone (Alan Halsall) and Molly’s (Vicky Binns) return but are surprised when they arrive back, not even mentioning a proposal other than the one they saw happen in the restaurant. Later when Molly tells Tyrone she loves things the way they are he hands the ring back to Jack.
Vernon’s (Ian Reddington) golf improves dramatically after some coaching from Prem Mandal (Madhav Sharma). Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is delighted to have met such an influential businessman and impressed that he remembers him from Weatherfield Trader’s Association and agrees to go for a drink with him.
Tony (Gray O'Brien) gives Sean (Antony Cotton) his job back and tells him that it was Rosie’s (Helen Flanagan) idea. Kevin (Michale Le Vell) overhears what Tony has said and tells Sean that Tony has reinstated him because he is playing a game to try and get him to sell the garage. Sally (Sally Whittaker) and Rosie are getting increasingly annoyed at Kevin’s paranoia about Tony and let him know.
This episode is written by Joe Turner and directed by Pip Short. The Producer is Kim Crowther.

TWISTED Teresa Bryant is Corrie’s latest black widow — plotting to POISON ex-hubby Jerry Morton.
Teresa, played by Karen Henthorn, plans to give the heart attack victim an overdose of his Warfarin medicine — which is used to poison rats.
Pills ... Jerry Morton
Pills ... Jerry Morton
Jerry (Michael Starkey) has had no end of trouble since Teresa arrived weeks ago — but sources said fans were yet to see her at her most calculating.
An insider told TV Biz: “This will be the most dramatic storyline since Tracy Barlow went down for murdering bullyboy Charlie Stubbs.
“Teresa is a really nasty piece of work. She comes up with the plan to poison Jerry and nothing will stand in her way.
“After the heart attack, Jerry is prescribed the blood-thinning drug Warfarin and Teresa starts to scheme. She tells the doctor Jerry has mislaid his medication and desperately needs replacements.
“Then, knowing an overdose could kill him, she secretly starts crushing up the extra tablets and adding them to his food.â€
Advertisement
Bosses were already planning to write out the Morton family, who arrived in March last year.
The source added: “We want to make them go out with a bang.â€
Teresa arrived in Weatherfield to look after her four children after takeaway tycoon dad Jerry fell ill.
Viewers will be tantalised as his life is left hanging by a thread. Fans have already had a taste of Teresa’s scheming side.
Earlier this month she convinced cabbie Lloyd Mullaney — actor Craig Charles — he had drunkenly fathered her son Finlay. She demanded wads of cash as backdated child support.
Ailing Jerry discovered her scheme — but allowed her to stay on the Street after she claimed her boyfriend was beating her at home.

WEATHERFIELD gets a real facelift when hospital worker Marcus Dent becomes a Botox specialist.
Gay Marcus realises he can rake in the cash after his partner Sean Tully has the treatment to help him keep his looks.
At first Marcus, right, tries to talk him out of having the jabs, claiming the anti-ageing serum is a form of botulism.
But Sean barks back:
“Cliff Richard looks good on it.
“Have you seen my forehead? It’s got more grooves in it than the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever.â€â€ˆ
Sean (Antony Cotton, 32) gets his way and even manages to persuade Marcus (Charlie Condou, 35) to go with him.
And after being impressed with the set-up and amazed at the sky-high prices, Marcus announces he will become a Botox practitioner.
He tells Sean: “All you need to do is take a short course – and Bob’s your uncle.â€
A Corrie insider revealed: “The writers are bound to milk the fact there will soon be Botox available on the Street.
“And viewers will be wondering which resident is first to go under the needle.â€

Only Fools and Horses fans will spot a familiar face in Coronation Street this week.
Paul Barber, aka Del-Boy's mate Denzil, will make a guest appearance as Nelson. He's a friend of Vernon's who tries to talk the dopey drummer into buying his bar.
It's not the first time Paul has appeared in the long running soap.
Fans may remember him as Billy Arrowsmith in an episode from 2004.
Over the years Barber has also appeared in Brookside, Casualty, Holby City and Doctors.
The veteran actor, who recently appeared in BBC One drama The Invisibles, has another project in the pipeline.
He will feature in the upcoming movie Nineliveslondon - a series of short films centred on the 2005 London bombings.

Coronation Street actor Chris Gascoyne is to reprise his role as bookmaker Peter Barlow.
The 40-year-old's character was last seen leaving Weatherfield for a new life in Portsmouth with his nephew Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).
He is now set to return to the soap when the street's axed betting shop owners Harry Mason (Jack Ellis) and son Dan Mason (Matthew Compton) leave in October.
A source at the soap told DS: "Chris is back filming with us quite soon and he'll be around for quite a while."

The cast and crew of Coronation Street took to the streets of Manchester again yesterday for yet more on-location filming. This time, the scenes involved Roy Cropper (David Neilson) and Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) being arrested in a drugs raid. Sound crazy? I thought so, too, but rest assured it's a complete misunderstanding.
Roy finds a package which has been left in the café and decides to take it back to its owner. Roy and Ken arrange to deliver the packet and as they're approaching two dodgy-looking youths, they're ambushed by undercover cops, arrested and dragged to Weatherfield police station for questioning.
Becky (Kat Kelly), meanwhile, finds the whole thing highly amusing when she goes to pick them up. What would Hayley say?

Liz (Bev Callard) finds herself in a love triangle after Harry (Jack Ellis) invites her out for the day to celebrate another milestone towards getting his divorce finalised. After a day out together, Harry suggests they go back to his flat for a nightcap, unaware that Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) has slipped into something more comfortable and is waiting for Harry to return to a candle-lit meal. Despite making a speedy exit, Clarissa directs her fury at Liz and follows her over to the Rovers, starting what escalates into a bar room brawl between the two women. Who will come out the winner?
Everywhere Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) goes John Stape (Graeme Hawley) seems to be there and she is finding it increasingly difficult to avoid him. When Norris (Malcom Hebdon) makes a remark to him in the Kabin, Fiz finds herself coming to his defence leaving Kelly to wonder if she was motivated by still having feelings for him.
Elsewhere, Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is delighted when Prem invites him to play golf and Blanche (Maggie Jones) is concerned about Ken's (WIlliam Roache) friendship with Ted (Michael Byrne).
Meanwhile, having witnessed Molly's excited conversations with her Aunty Pam about the wedding, Tyrone starts to wonder if she realy will be happy with the small wedding they have planned.

Liz (Beverly Callard) is furious that Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) has wrecked her evening with Harry (Jack Ellis) and tells him to call her when he has sorted the situation out. Harry is surprised that Clarissa has decided she wants him back but he won’t play the game so she throws his dinner at the wall and storms out. As Liz waits with anticipation for the call from Harry she is surprised to see Clarissa walk into the pub and it isn’t long before a slanging match starts between the two women. Liz is delighted when Harry decides to escort Clarissa out of the Rovers and is convinced he will be back to finish the evening with her - but she hasn't bargained on the continuing passion between Harry and his ex-wife.
Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is delighted that he has hit it off with Prem (Madhav Sharma) and the pair chat about life and business over a drink at the golf club bar before heading back to the Street where Prem starts Dev thinking about his future and he admits his life has been on hold since his split with Sunita. Has Prem inspired him to make changes for the better?
Despite saying she only wants a small wedding, Tyrone (Alan Halsall) decides to take Jack’s (Bill Tarmey) advice and ‘give Molly (Vicky Binns) the wedding she really wants’. He tries to get some extra shifts at streetcars to save money, but Steve knocks him back. Will Tyrone ever manage to get the money together to give Molly the wedding of her dreams? And even if he does, will it turn out to be the wedding of her nightmares?

Harry (Jack Ellis) is regretting leading Liz (Beverly Callard) on now that he knows Clarissa (Alexander Boyd) wants him back and he agrees to move back in with her. He apologises to Liz who is disappointed but refuses to let it show and walks away head held high. Meanwhile, Clarissa can’t resist rubbing Liz's nose in it and takes Harry to the Rovers for a 'farewall drink'. After a few barbed comments from Clarissa, Liz can take no more and turns the tables on her pretending Harry has pinched her bum. When the drinks start flying Liz seizes her moment and with great relish bars Clarissa from the Rovers! War is declared..
Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is gobsmacked when he meets Prem (Madhav Sharma) at the golf club and a famous Bollywood star from his youth walks into the bar. He's even more shocked when she turns out to be Prem's wife Nina (Harvey Virdi). Amber (Nikki Patel) is amused when Dev retuns home in a state of excitement and goes straight onto the internet to look up Nina.
Ken (William Raoche) is still holed up in the living room and it looks as though he's been working on his book all night, much to Blanche (Maggie Jones) and Deridre's (Anne Kirkbride) despair.
Elsewhere, Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) is still having no luck avoiding John, (Graeme Hawley) and Auntie Pam (Kate Anthony) teaches Tyrone (Alan Halsall) how to turn the pennies into pounds.
This episode is written by Jonathan Harvey and directed by Jerry Smith. The producer is Kim Crowther.
Friday 1 August 7.30 - 8pm
Harry (Jack Ellis) makes it clear that he has no intention of drinking anywhere else than the Rovers so tells Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) that she had better apologise to Liz (Beverly Callard) if she intends to try and keep an eye on him. Clarissa swallows her pride and Liz feels obliged to accept her apology but it is killing them both to be civil. Later, as Clarissa exchanges barely concealed insults with Liz before waltzing out with Harry, Liz vows to try even harder to win him back.
Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is on cloud nine this morning after meeting Nina (Harvey Virdi) but tells Harry he is not going to risk ruining his friendship with Prem (Nadhav Sharma) by messing with his wife. It doesn't stop him accepting an invitation to Prem and Nina's for dinner and dressing to impress, much to Amber's disdain. Coronation Street producers are to introduce the soap's first ever lesbian character.
Bosses had originally intended barmaid Violet Wilson – played by Jenny Platt before she left the Manchester-based soap earlier this year – to be gay when she joined in 2004. However, her romances with on and off screen love Jamie Baldwin (Rupert Hill) and Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) proved popular with viewers.
A Weatherfield source told the News Of The World: "Executives want to create a soap which is representative of society in 2008 and they are acutely aware they need more gay characters.
"Violet was pinpointed as the one character they could take down that route but they went cold on the idea and cast her as straight."
The insider added: "It does seem ridiculous it has never been explored on Corrie but that's all about to change."

As the booze cruisers head home it is clear that Janice (Vicky Entwistle) and Roger (Andrew Dunn) are in high spirits but for Audrey (Sue Nicholls) it has been an endurance test. With Bill (Peter Armitage) at the wheel she continues to find fault in everything and things go from bad to worse when they get a puncture. As they wait for the recovery van Audrey starts to wonder where her relationship with Bill is really heading. Fed up with her long face he joins Janice and Roger and they crack open a few cans leaving Audrey the only one able to drive home. But disaster strikes when, during another argument, Audrey takes her eye off the road.

David (Jack P Shepherd) confides in Darryl (Johnny Dixon) that he is worried that Tina (Michelle Keegan) is emailing someone all the time and confesses that he has been trying passwords to hack into her email but with no luck. Later though David strikes gold when he finds her password in her address book. Darryl tries to warn him against spying on her but David is too curious and too jealous to take his friend's advice - what will he find?

Gail offers to look after her mum once she is released from hospital but Audrey insists she is fine with Bill (Peter Armitage). Once home however it is clear that she is anything but fine and she tells Bill that the weekend was a disaster and she no longer thinks they have anything in common - is this the end of Audrey and Bill?
David (Jack P Shepherd) is thrilled when he reads Tina's (Michelle Keegan) outbox and discovers that she has been talking about him in glowing terms to her ex-boyfriend. Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) and Nina (Harvey Virdi) have been for a spin in her sports car and Dev introduces her to Amber (Nikki Patel) as a famous film star - clearly still impressed by her faded Bollywood past. Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) is looking forward to winding Liz (Beverly Callard) up and arrives in the Rovers with a romantic card for Harry (Jack Ellis) but the wind is taken out of her sails when Harry tells her that he doesn't want to rush into getting back together.

Wednesday 6 August 7.30pm
Jerry (Michael Starke) is with a reluctant Teresa (Karen Henthorne) trying to find a suitable flat for her to move into. He's convinced her reluctance is because she is frightened of being on her own so he suggests a flat belonging to mate of his. She tries to argue the toss with him but he persuades her to view the flat but she's hurt when she overhears a conversation between Jerry and Darryl (Johnny Dixon) about her moving out. Later when she is cooking dinner she decides on a drastic plan of action and taking one of Jerry's pills she grinds it into his evening meal - will he notice?
Gail (Helen Worth) is surprised to hear that Audrey (Sue Nicholls) has thrown Bill (Peter Armitage) out but Ted (Michael Byrne) agrees to stay with Audrey to keep her company. Bill however is not willing to give in so easily and tells Janice that he wants Audrey back. Later as Audrey and Ted relax in each other's company Audrey confides in him that she is looking for a soulmate and Bill isn't it.
David (Jack P Shepherd) is continuing with his plan to be the perfect boyfriend and buys Tina (Michelle Keegan) some gig tickets for a band that she mentioned in her emails but Darryl (Johnny Dixon) thinks he may have gone too far.
Kevin is furious that he can't get onto his forecourt because a truck is parked outside Underworld. He's even more angry when Rosie comes out to explain and he accuses her of doing Tony's dirty work. Meanwhile Tony continues to play Sally off against Kevin.
Elsewhere Dev is starting to feel like the ball in Prem and Nina's game of marital ping pong.

Tina (Michelle Keegan) is thrilled that David (Jack P Shepherd) has got tickets for them to go and see her favourite band and is delighted when Jerry (Michael Starke) lets her leave work early. But things start to go wrong when she is chatting to Darryl (Johnny Dixon) and something he says sets alarm bells ringing. Not the sharpest tool in the box he digs an even deeper hole for himself and David when he tries to backtrack. The damage is done and she accuses him of hacking into her emails - how will she react when he tells her it was David not him?
Kevin (Michael Le Vell) is still refusing to discuss Tony's (Gray O'Brien) offer and Sally (Sally Whittaker) is increasingly worried about their financial situation. Even Rosie (Helen Flanagan) is starting to be secretly worried about how her actions have affected her family. Meanwhile Tony continues with his plan for Weatherfield domination and tries to put the frighteners on an elderly resident who is delaying Tony's latest development by refusing to move out of his home.
Ken (William Roache) has become increasingly engrossed in writing his novel much to Blanche (Maggie Jones) and Deirdre's irritation. When Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) tries to tidy the house Ken gets annoyed and decamps to the library. In his absence Blanche can't stop herself from sneaking a peak at the manuscript.
Teresa (Karen Henthorne) is still enjoying being at number six and is still showing little sign of wanting to move out. Worried about the tablets she put into his food she carefully quizzes Gail (Helen Worth) about the risk of Jerry (Michael Starke) overdosing on his medication. What is she planning?

Ken (William Roache) is in a panic - unaware that Blanche (Maggie Jones) has hidden some pages of his manuscript he is worried that they have been thrown out with the rubbish. He insults Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) about her reading matter as he looks through the recycling bin. But she's even more hurt when Blanche fills her in on some of the content of the novel.

Bill takes his advice and arrives with flowers and tickets for the opera. But Audrey is not sure that she wants to give it another try with Bill and gives him back the flowers.
Carla (Alison King) wants Rosie (Helen Flanagan) to look after her interests as she is going away. She slips a roll of notes into her hand and advises Tony (Gray O'Brien) not to misjudge Rosie or underestimate her potential to cause trouble.

LOVE rat John Stape faces jail after being framed for child abuse by cheeky Chesney Battersby-Brown.
Ches wrongly accuses the disgraced former teacher of battering him and giving him a bloody nose.
It is all part of the teenager’s campaign to stop smarmy Stape (Graeme Hawley, 33) rekindling a romance with his sister Fiz.
Fuming Fiz (Jennie McAlpine, 23) confronts her ex, bellowing at him: “If you want a fight, pick on someone your own size.”
Then she belts him in the face and threatens him with the police.
Even mechanic Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell, 43) threatens to beat him up again. He has hated Stape since learning he bedded his daughter Rosie (Helen Flanagan, 18).
But in the end it is Fiz who looks a fool when she discovers Chesney has made up the accusation.
She learns it was Stape who rescued Chesney after he lost out in a fight over girlfriend Kayleigh Morton (Jessica Barton, 15).
And Chesney’s lies backfire on him big time when Fiz apologises to Stape for the misunderstanding and the couple embrace.
A source revealed last night “The lies act as the catalyst for Fiz and John getting back together.
“Fiz feels stupid for believing he was guilty, and offers to buy him a drink to make up for it. One thing leads to another, the past is forgotten and they share an intimate kiss.”

From Corrie's Sun City special
(The Sun)
http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00535/SNN21BB01H_280_535278a.jpg
CORRIE battleaxe Cilla Battersby-Brown looks a bit shady as she plots a scam in a DVD special.
The slummy mummy — who left the soap in October — has invited her family to her new home in Sun City, South Africa.
Fiz, Chesney and Kirk are going out to help Cilla (Wendi Peters) win a “perfect family” contest — and a huge windfall.
And the matriarch certainly has her eyes on the prize. As well as pretending to need a wheelchair she forces daughter Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) to dress up as a nun!

Coronation Street love rat John Stape returned to Weatherfield last week in seach of forgiveness from his ex-girlfriend Fiz Brown (Jennie McAlpine). With his former lover not wanting to hear his excuses and Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan) still on the scene, he has his work cut out to regain his true love's trust. We caught up with Graeme Hawley to chat about Stapey's return, his popularity with women and the girl of his dreams, Fiz Brown.
Did you always know John would be making a comeback to Corrie?
"I was always aware that there was a possibility that he'd come back. With anything in the acting profession, you don't count any chickens until the contract's been signed and until you're in costume and make-up! There was never any hesitation to want to come back."
How did you feel when you were invited back?
"I'm really excited, for several reasons. It's a brilliant place to work and I really enjoyed myself last time. I get on really well with the people I work with. It's also a great opportunity to come back to, and from what I've heard, it's going to be a great summer with the storyline they've got planned."
Where's John been?
"He ended up having to leave his teaching job and got a job at another school, during which life became difficult for him there too, so he left the teaching profession and became a cab driver. He lost the cab driver job too, so now he's back in Weatherfield in another cabbie job."
Was it love or lust as far as Rosie was concerned?
"Very much lust. I don't think there was love on either part to be honest. "
I'm presuming there's still unfinished business between John and Kevin?
"There's definitely unfinished business there. John stays very clear of Kevin, who doesn't want him around at all."
Do you think Fiz still has feelings for John?
"As much as she'd not like to admit it, she definitely still holds a candle for him. Deep down, there's a real connection between them which is undeniable. That's why he's back too, for her, because he can't live without her."
Does he truly have feelings for her? Or do you think his intentions toward her are more to do with forgiveness?
"I think initially it's all about forgiveness. Really the situation is that he's tried to spend the last six months of his life living without her but has come to the conclusion that he can't and she's the woman he loves. He's decided that he has to find a way for them to be together."
Is Sally still infatuated with him when he returns?
"No, I think where Sally's concerned, that ship has well and truly sailed. She's very much with Kevin and I think she'd rather Kevin stayed away from John, too. He's caused a hell of a lot of trouble for them."
Were you heckled a lot in real life after your first stint in Corrie?
"There's been a lot of friendly banter really. It happens a lot in the street wherever I go. It's all good-natured, though. People are very complimentary about the storyline and character and asking when John was returning, so that's been lovely. It was nice to hear that people wanted to see more of John Stape back on the Cobbles."
Why is he so popular with the women?
"He's a bit of a charmer and finds it easy to relax with them and be in their company. He has this disarming charm about him. He's a good listener and talks a lot. That's what they like about him, and he has this 'everyman' quality about him."
He's back for quite a substantial chunk of storyline isn't he?
"The main thing for this story is that he's back for Fiz. He wants to win Fiz back and he'll do everything in his power to make that happen. He absolutely loves her and wants to be with her. It's going to be a long old summer for him because he's got a lot of making up to do."
