Go and do an A-level English Literature and get obsessed with the teacher.

I can't believe the way things are going for Sally Webster atm. It's an amazing storyline.

Scarlett.

EE is so crap no-one's discussing it. Oh that's what you meant.

Anno it was ****. The same generic EE storylines. The Corrie wedding was done cleverly. Waaaaaay better than EE. I dunno why they keep winning the awards.

Scarlett.

01-11-2007, 08:03 PM
K good.

Can you remember when Sophie and Chesney were saying that they were psychic last year?

What did they do again?

They wound up all the old members on the street. I saw a clip on youtube today.

Scarlett.
01-11-2007, 08:05 PM
The Dairy of Ivy Tilsley, it fell into David Platt (Ivy's grandsons) hands, and he found out he was nearly aborted

cepb
01-11-2007, 08:06 PM
But how did Sophie and Chesney find out about about the past of Vera?

Scarlett.
01-11-2007, 08:07 PM
it was in Ivy's diary

cepb
01-11-2007, 08:09 PM
KK and David spilt the beans. Oh yes I remember.

What did you think Vernon has got planned for Liz's 50th? Apparently it's not a party.

Scarlett.

I cant wait to find out the Christmas day storyline, I hope it snows on Corrie too

Cfan
01-11-2007, 09:29 PM
A snowy Corrie is always nice on Crimbo but it does makes it a tad unrealistic. When was Claire and Ashley's wedding? That was the last snow they've had I think.

Scarlett.
01-11-2007, 09:31 PM
2004 it was, it actually snowed that christmas too!

cepb
01-11-2007, 09:34 PM
LoL I doubt it will snow this Christmas.

Cfan
01-11-2007, 09:38 PM

Cfan
01-11-2007, 09:54 PM
I thought David was meant to be playing the music from his car.

Scarlett.
01-11-2007, 09:54 PM
aye, I liked how the did the ringing of the Platts phone will looking over the empty street, and David up on the roof of the factory (they really need to cut off access to that place :D)

Cfan
01-11-2007, 11:55 PM

Scarlett.

cepb
02-11-2007, 12:14 AM

I bet this Norris and Doreen will continue.

Lovin that storyline, the best one imo atm, along with the Websters'. :P

Scarlett.
02-11-2007, 12:16 AM
Its one of the things No other soap will ever be able to do Comedy mixed with Drama and Tragedy

cepb
02-11-2007, 12:18 AM
Anno and Corrie get it right every time. :spin2:

Eastenders the other week tried to make a funny storyline, but as per they failed miserably, making another depressing week of episodes.

I dunno why EE is so damn popular. It's bldy awful imo.

But then again, some ppl like to see ppl suffering more than them. :P

Scarlett.
02-11-2007, 12:20 AM
I know, if I wanted to see suffering I'd get a Dominatrix:laugh:

Corrie is light hearted, and not drama 27/7 and thats what makes it special

that and of course without it there would never have been Eastenders

Dizzy
02-11-2007, 12:20 AM
Corrie seems to be one of the only soaps that can have that really funny spark to it, it just doesn't work with EastEnders. EastEnders is really depressing, rofl! xD

Scarlett.
02-11-2007, 12:22 AM
Wow! I thought you where a fan of EE? changed your mind? :D

Like a simple wink had me in stitches, Norris and Doreen are gonna be great!!!:hello:

cepb
02-11-2007, 12:23 AM
Dizzy and Chewy : spot on!

We should start and anti-Eastenders campaign on TiBB.

So do either of you know why Eastenders is so damn popular? It just doesn't make sense. EE just bores the hell out of me.

Scarlett.
02-11-2007, 12:24 AM
I know, I gave it a try a few weeks back, for the first few mins it was good but then... it repeated, person yells..person crys...person drinks...person shouts...person shouts

Cfan
02-11-2007, 12:25 AM
I've also noticed that there are always lil amusing subtlties in the background of shots which make me laugh like the other day I noticed Liz blowing a load of smoke into Vernon's face when the camera was focusing on the Websters.

Anno I watched it for 2 years actually, and I did enjoy the Jony Allen, and Chrissie storylines a lot, even though I never thought it was as good as Corrie.

But in the end I felt that all the storylines were boring, generic, depressing, pretentious....and I just found myself sitting there watching it bored out of my brains.

So I made a decision to stop watching it.

EastEnders is popular, because I'm guessing loads of people like that sort of thing.
See, most people are really familiar with the storylines but the thing is EE never really has any light hearted moments, and when they try, they fail miserably. Plus EE has been going on for years, and Corrie has too but EE is much darker, and more people might've grown up watching EE rather than Corrie, either that or they just enjoy something a lot darker and less light hearted?

Coronation Street has been going since 1960 and Eastenders since 1986. But I agree with what you're saying. I just find Corrie more entertaining and I think some people should give it a chance. I think most ppl would actually prefer it to EE if they actually sat down and made an effort to get into it.

LOL at Cfan!

Yeah, I get what you mean cepb, I don't watch Corrie all the time but I'm always told what's going on, my mum always complains when she finds I'm watching Corrie xD Corrie is very easy to get into, the storylines aren't all that complicated, but are gripping at that same time, whereas EE has all these new people flooding in and we know nothing about their pasts so then their past comes flooding back to them and then they're in some new place trying to run someone over or trying to shoot someone [like the Johnny scene where somebody shoots Danny??? I dunno, I forgot their names...] and then of course somebody dies like every christmas on EE... xD rofl

Emmerdale has the same problem of people flooding in

Corrie knows how to settle new characters in, with out it ruining the show

Cfan
02-11-2007, 12:43 AM
I agree^^
If you think about it, every other soap has one element of Corrie. Eastenders has the huge climactic drama, Emmerdale has the camp, over the top characters, and Hollyoaks has all the under 30s style storylines. These are all elements from Corrie.
So, you could say it's the perfect soap :P

Scarlett.
02-11-2007, 12:44 AM
Yup, and the fact they invented the British TV soap style

I tried to watch Emmerdale but I got confused of who was who...
And the storylines were pretty dull to me.
Hollyoaks is more my sort of thing [but OMG. why did they have to bring Emo's into it?! ARGH. ]
I still like EastEnders, it's just it really annoys me at times.
But Corrie is great, David has to be my fave character, purely because he's an evil genius, hehe.

Aye, tell me about it. Eastenders is soooo bad for dragging out stories it's unbelievable.

Corrie's normally quite good although that Claire/KC/Ashley storyline did drag a bit too much. But all in all Corrie isn't too bad for that sort of thing.

Yeah, it's clever how if you don't like one storyline, there are plenty of other ones to choose from. I also love the way stories can change in mood for example this Sally A levels thing. What started as a light hearted family crisis has turned into a seriouse quite dark outcome with all that Rosie and John stuff. Also it's great how a load of storylines have come together with it.

Weatherfield is apparently set for a new arrival - man mad Lauren Wilson.

Lusty Lauren, played by Lucy Evans, 21, is pregnant barmaid Violet's younger sister and will be seen for the first time later this month when she arrives to stay with Violet after running a bar in Ibiza.

She makes a shocking entrance into Coronation Street - by snogging the taxi driver who has brought her from the airport instead of paying his fare, reports the Daily Star.

The brunette is shocked to hear that her sister Violet (Jenny Platt) is expecting her first baby with gay factory worker Sean Tulley (Antony Cotton).

"My brief is quite simple - I am going to be very, very naughty and have one hell of a scream," Lucy said.

"Lauren is a little minx and a very naughty girl - which is why I'm looking forward to playing her!

"She is footloose, fancy-free and single - and it won't be long before she turns the heads of all those men in Weatherfield."

The actress - who is reportedly joining the soap on a six-month contract - is the face of Specsavers ads and also played teen temptress Rachel Osbourne in Hollyoaks three years ago.

As if Coronation Street didn't have its hands full of minxy behaviour with that Rosie Webster, a new character is promising to be a very naughty girl.

Lucy Evans will play Violet's sister Lauren. She arrives on the Street later this month, and as she pays her taxi driver with a snog rather than cash, I think we get the picture of what kind of girl she's going to be! Lucy has previously appeared in Hollyoaks and Mile High, and she told the Daily Star, "My brief is quite simple – I am going to be very, very naughty and have one hell of a scream. Lauren is a little minx and a very naughty girl – which is why I’m looking forward to playing her! She is footloose, fancy-free and single – and it won’t be long before she turns the heads of all those men in Weatherfield.” Lucy's initial contract is for six months.

Cfan
02-11-2007, 05:27 PM
I know. I really want Jim to come back but I don't want Vernon to leave. I hope they can work it out between themselves and both stay.

Scarlett.
02-11-2007, 05:28 PM
I think Jim is only coming back for 6 weeks

Cfan
02-11-2007, 05:32 PM
That's one thing I'm really looking forward to. I think when all this Sally/Rosie/John and co stuff's finished, the Liz and Vernon storyline will become more prominent.

Scarlett.
02-11-2007, 05:33 PM

Cfan
02-11-2007, 05:38 PM
Re-vamping the Rovers? Didn't Natalie try and do that once by changing it's name to ''The Boozy Newt'' and re-doing the interior. Of course it never happened =)
