John Thomson has signed up to join the Coronation Street cast as a down-on-his-luck kids' entertainer, Jessie.
Playing for laughs in a "hilarious" role, the 39-year-old - also starring as a regular character in the new series of ITV1 drama Kingdom - will join the Rovers Return regulars in October to film three episodes.
The episodes will be shown on ITV1 towards the end of the year, and Corrie producers hope that Salford-born comic Thomson will be tempted to return to the Street for a longer stint with the ITV1 soap in 2009.
A Street spokesperson said: "We are delighted that John is joining the show. John is a fantastic comedy actor and is perfect for the part of Jessie."
Thomson has also featured in the ITV comedy drama Cold Feet and The Fast Show and follows in the footsteps of other comedians appearing in the Weatherfield soap, including Peter Kay.

Jerry (Michael Starke) is less than impressed that Teresa (Karen Henthorne) has managed to weedle her way back into the house through the kids, and when he finds her baking cakes he immediately thinks the worst and tries to throw her out. Mel (Emma Edmondson) is devastated when she arrives home to hear Jerry lambasting Teresa for trying to kill him. Incredulous, Mel goes straight into police officer mode and arrests her mum for attempted murder.
Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) feels awkward about the fact that she is back with John (Graeme Hawley) and asks Julie (Katy Cavanagh) to keep it a secret from their workmates. Julie agrees but Fiz had not banked on John telling the world about them getting back together and turning up at work armed with a large bouquet of flowers. How will her friends react to the news?
Becky (Katherine Kelly) is desperate for her and Jason (Ryan Thomas) to get a place of their own but he's not the sharpest tool in Bill's (Peter Armitage) box and doesn't notice that she is dropping heavy hints.
Meanwhile Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is worried when he gets a mysterious invitation to Prem's house for dinner. Could it be that Prem (Madhav Sharma) has found out about him and Nina (Harvey Virdi)?
Harry (Jack Ellis) is already bored with Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) and wastes no time in heading over to the Rovers for a quick drink. Hiding in the back yard he convinces Liz (Beverly Callard) to serve him but she points out that if he is going to make this a regular thing he will need to get a spy to watch out for the missus.
This episode is written by Julie Jones, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Terry Dyddgen-Jones.
***PI for the rest of the week follows***
Monday 15 September 8.30 - 9pm
Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) realises that his worries about the dinner party at Prem's were unfounded when he is introduced to Prem (Madhav Sharma) and Nina's daughter - the beautiful Tara (Ayesha Dharker). It is clear that Prem is matchmaking and Dev finds himself instantly attracted to Tara. A jealous Nina (Harvey Virdi) is furious at the development and decides to warn Dev off in no uncertain terms.
Mel (Emma Edmondson) is dismayed when Jerry (Michael Starke) arrives at the police station and refuses to press charges. He tells her that he is worried about the effect it will have on the kids but Mel just wants her mum to pay for what she has done. Back at home however Teresa (Karen Henthorne) is given her marching orders by all her kids and she cuts a sad and lonley figure as she walks away from her family.
Fiz's (Jennie McAlpine) mates are all worried about her being back with John (Graeme Hawley). Even Maria (Samia Smith) has a row with her about giving him another chance and he is starting to worry about whether they have a future whilst she is surrounded by her friends and family.
The future is looking brighter for Becky (Katherine Kelly) however when Jason (Ryan Thomas), prompted by Bill (Peter Armitage), suggests they get a place of their own. Elsewhere Lloyd (Craig Charles) finds that he is quids in when Harry (Jack Ellis) pays him to spy on Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) and she hires him to spy on Harry!
This episode is written by Chris Fewtrell, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Terry Dyddgen-Jones.
Wednesday 17 September 7.30 - 8pm
Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) confides in Julie (Katy Cavanagh) that she is finding it difficult to get on with John (Graeme Hawley) because of other people sticking their oar in. John, meanwhile, tries to convince Maria (Samia Smith) that he is truly sorry for what he did to Fiz but she is having none of it. Desperate to keep hold of Fiz John decides they would be better off living at his gran's house in the country. He confides in Lloyd (Craig Charles) who lets slip to Fiz. How will she react to this latest development?
Tom (Philip McGinley) tells Liam (Rob James Collier) that they are launching their new range in New York and that they should go over for the fashion show. Maria is having none of it and puts a stop to Liam going anywhere - much to Carla's (Alison King) amusement!
Becky (Katherine Kelly) suggests that she and Jason (Ryan Thomas) go to view a property they have seen in the Gazette but they are stunned by the state of the place - it looks as though it isn't going to be as easy as they'd hoped to set up a love nest.
Elsewhere Vernon (Ian Reddington) tries to tell Liz (Beverly Callard) about his song-writing plans but she is more interested in inviting Harry to a lock-in at the pub.
This episode is written by Chris Fewtrell, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Terry Dyddgen-Jones.
Friday 19 September 7.30 - 8pm
John (Graeme Hawley) is desperate to try and make it up with Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) but she is still furious about his plans for them to move away and refuses to speak to him. Later when John goes to collect Rosie (Helen Flanagan) from town in his cab he sees her flirting with a lad and is reminded of why things went wrong for him and Fiz. When Rosie refuses to get in his cab he sees red and takes drastic action - bundling her into the cab and locking the doors.
Janice (Vicky Entwistle) sneaks off from work to check the factory syndicate lottery tickets with Leanne (Jane Danson) at the bookies and is stunned to discover that they have won over £24,000. Returning to work she is furious to discover that no one covered for her with Carla (Alison King) and decides to keep news of the windfall to herself.
With Tom (Philip McGinley) away Liam (Rob JAmes Collier) is at a loose end and when Maria (Samia Smith) tells him she is going out for the evening with Natasha he can't resist ringing Carla and asks her to meet him to discuss the business.
Harry (Jack Ellis) is looking forward to his evening with Liz (Beverly Callard) but first he has to get round the fact that he was supposed to be taking Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) to a ball. Elsewhere Vernon (Ian Reddington) is delighted to get a call from a record producer wanting to buy one of his songs.
This episode is written by David Lane, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Terry Dyddgen-Jones.
Friday 19 September 8.30 - 9pm
A terrified Rosie (Helen Flanagan) is still locked in John's car as he drives like a man possessed through the street's of Weatherfield. Convinced that he is about to kill her she pleads with him to let her go. But John (Graeme Hawley) is a man pushed to the limit - he has lost everything he cares about, his job, his girlfriend, his future. He blames Rosie for everything and is determined to teach her a lesson - what exactly does he have in mind?
Leanne (Jane Danson) wonders why Janice (Vicky Entwistle) is not celebrating her win with the other girls.Janice tells her she is going to make them wait until they start being nice to her. This gives Leanne an idea - why tell the others at all? As Leanne convinces her of the reasons why the others don't deserve the lottery winnings Janice starts to warm to the idea of her and Leanne sharing the cash.
As Liam (Rob James Collier) meets Carla (Alison King) at the factory it becomes increasingly evident to her that he still wants her and she tells him that she will always be there for him if he gets stir crazy. Will Liam fall for her charms once more?
Molly (Vicky Binns) is shocked when Tyrone (Alan Halsall) returns from 'visiting Jack' full of spots. He tells her that he has a seafood allergy but Aunty Pam (Kate Anthony) is not convinced. However when he produces the cheque for £500 from the medical research company she is impressed.
Liz (Beverly Callard) decides to be nice to Vernon (Ian Reddington) when he tells her about his good luck but it simply lets him think he stands a chance of getting back with her. He's gutted when he goes to the Rovers and finds Liz in a clinch with Harry (Jack Ellis).
This episode is written by Jayne Hollinson, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Terry Dyddgen-Jones.

CORRIE bosses are kitting out the Rovers Return with STUNT PROPS for the pub’s most violent scenes yet.
Parts of the bar will be replaced with collapsible replicas to prepare for Becky Grainger (Katherine Kelly) acting like a true woman scorned.
She launches a frenzied attack on lover Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) after he jilts her.
Jason decides to make a desperate dash to Italy to rekindle his relationship with estranged wife Sarah (Tina O’Brien).
Attacked ... Jason Grimshaw
Attacked ... Jason Grimshaw
But when Becky finds out, she turns from smitten kitten to horrific hellcat.
She sinks snakebites — a potent lager and cider mix — to drown her sorrows.
And when Jason pops into the pub to say goodbye, Becky explodes and grabs him by the throat.
TV Biz has learned that the scenes are so savage that half the set has been replaced with props and stunt mats have been sewn into the Rovers’ furniture.
A springboard has even been fitted behind the bar to help propel a seething Becky on to Jason.
An insider said: “Bar fittings will all be replaced with breakaway look-a-likes.
“Any sharp edges or hard surfaces around the fight area are to be padded or removed.”
What’s more, bosses have even booked a nurse and a top stunt co-ordinator to make sure the spectacular scenes are as near the knuckle as possible.
Our soap source added: “We don’t want anyone getting hurt but we do want the scenes to be eye-poppingly realistic. It’s all going to look like a movie sequence.”
Jason isn’t the only one to suffer. Kevin Webster and Janice Battersby also cop a load of abuse at the hands of the boozed-up barmaid.
Looks like bad Becky’s well and truly back . . .
Scarlett.

Yeah I read that they were only bringing her in untill the wedding to give Molly some routes and to give her more depth. They might be intending on only keeping her untill the wedding but they might end up signing her up long term. She's settled into the Street like a hand to a glove.

I'm just watching last Wednesday's episode now on catch up. Ugh, are we actually supposed to feel sorry for Sean or what? He's just a jealous child. He's a completely one-sided character with no depth! Why can't they get rid of him???
Scarlett.
08-09-2008, 11:41 PM
I know, I used to like him (like with the storyline about his dad) but he doesnt work no more really

Yes, Michelle IS overused and that child swap storyline was dire!!!
I noticed that they did start to overuse Becki a bit but now they've got this new producer, that didn't get too far, thankfully! I love Becki, she's so overprotective of Roy, like last Wednesday with that other woman and her child. There's such a funny repartee between them. Corrie's good at that, another classic example is Rita and Norris.

Yeah there'll probably more to do with her at some point. Just like the whole thing with Norris and Emily's envelope, something fishy's going on there!

Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) is growing increasingly suspicious of Liz (Beverly Callard) and Harry (Jack Ellis), and when she spots them getting cosy outside the Rovers she vows to catch them out. A bit of detective work using Harry's mobile soon proves to her what she thought and she feigns illness to get out of a date with Harry that evening. Meanwhile Liz finds some tickets for a charity ball in Harry's jacket, assumes he is taking her and heads off on a shopping trip. But when Clarissa announces to Harry that she has recovered and is now going to the ball he has to think on his feet - how willl he get out of this one?
Rosie (Helen Flanagan) is still furious with her mum and dad for not believing her story that John Stape (Graeme Hawley) kidnapped her, and with finances tight in the Webster household she has a go at Kevin (Michael Le Vell) for not selling his business to Tony Gordon (Gray O'Brien). Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) meanwhile is struggling to cope with John constantly being around, and her friends urge her to try and move on.
Lloyd (Craig Charles) tells Becky (Katherine Kelly) that Vernon (Ian Reddington) has sold one of his songs and is off to London but Vernon is miserable. After catching Liz and Harry together he has lost his enthusiasm for the trip. Lloyd (Craig Charles) urges him to give her up but Vernon is determined to give her one more chance to choose.
Janice (Vicky Entwistle) and Leanne (Jane Danson) have decided to keep the lottery win to themselves and split the money. They plan to open a false bank account in Rosie's name, as she was in charge of the lottery, and use the flat above the kebab shop as the address. Armed with details of an old pal of Les's who does fake IDs, Janice sets the ball rolling.
This episode is written by Julie Jones, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Jerry Smith.
*** PI for the rest of the week follows ***
Monday 22 September 8.30 - 9pm
Harry (Jack Ellis) is still squirming at Clarissa's (Alexandra Boyd) announcement that she is well enough to go to the do after all, and she is highly amused by her anxious husband who is trying everything he can to shake her off for a while. Liz (Beverly Callard) meanwhile is oblivious to Harry's dilemma and is spending a fortune getting ready for their date. Unable to get to Liz to tell her she can't go with him to the ball Harry is forced to walk into the pub with Clarissa on his arm. Dressed to the nines a stunned Liz can only watch open mouthed. Meanwhile Vernon has left a heartfelt note for Liz - with Harry dropping her like a hot potato does Vernon stand a chance?
Tony (Gray O'Brien) is not happy when Carla (Alison King) refuses to go to the Fashion Awards with him so he hatches a plan to wind her up and asks Rosie (Helen Flanagan) instead. Sally (Sally Whittaker) is not happy that Tony has given Rosie money to buy clothes for the event - but Rosie is delighted.
Meanwhile Kevin (Michael Le Vell) feels bad about letting Tyrone (Alan Halsall) down and offers him a share of the business. Pam (Kate Anthony) is baffled that Kevin doesn't want any money but Tyrone insists that Kevin is just looking for loyalty.
Janice (Vicky Entwistle) reveals her new identities to Leanne (Jane Danson) - tomorrow she will be opening a bank account as Miss Rosie Webster.
This episode is written by Debbie Oates, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Jerry Smith.
Wednesday 24 September 7.30 - 8pm
Rosie (Helen Flanagan) is looking forward to her evening at the fashion awards with Tony (Gray O'Brien) and winds Kevin (Michael Le Vell) up talking about the sexy clothes she is going to be wearing that evening. Later she arrives at the Rovers dressed to the nines but she is left feeling humiliated when Tony arrives with Carla (Alison King) on his arm - she has decided to go with him to the awards after all!
What Tony doesn't know is that the only reason Carla is available is that she has been let down by Liam (Rob James Collier) who is stuck at home looking after Maria (Samia Smith) who appears to have been struck down with food poisoning. Maria is hopeful that it is actually morning sickness but Liam is not convinced.
Liz (Beverly Callard) tells Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) that Harry (Jack Ellis) has been texting her all morning with lame excuses about the night before. Furious that she ended her marriage with Vernon thinking she might have a chance with Harry, Liz decides it is time to make him suffer. She gets Lloyd (Criag Charles) to ask Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) to come round and she suggests they let him know the party is over; he's been playing them off against one another for too long now. Harry is delighted when Liz calls him and asks him to come over but it isn’t long before he is caught with his trousers down - literally!
Janice (Vicky Entwistle) is elated as she tells Leanne (Jane Danson) that everything went well at the bank and that she has put her claim in for the lottery winnings. Leanne has a feeling that their 'uncle' may die tonight leaving them a tidy sum in his will!
Elsewhere Tyrone (Alan Halsall) agrees to be Kevin's (Michale Le Vell) business partner.
This episode is written by Jan McVerry, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Jerry Smith.
Friday 26 September 7.30 - 8pm
There's tension at the Websters. Sally (Sally Whittaker) asks Rosie (Helen Flanagan) to apologise to Kevin (Michale Le Vell) but Rosie refuses and Bill tries to smooth things over by explaining that she was taken in by Tony (Gray O'Brien). Kevin is more interested in the new breakdown truck which he hopes will help reverse their fortunes. Rosie, meanwhile, is delighted when Tony invites her out for lunch to make ammends for letting her down the night before. As she gets steadily more drunk he is counting the minutes until he can get rid of her but as he asks for the bill she springs a surprise on him!
Back on Coronation Street, Carla (Alison King) is driving Liam (Rob James Collier) to distraction. Round at the house for a conference call with Tom, Carla enjoys winding Liam up and even gets him to model one of the t-shirts he is selling.
Dan (Matthew Crompton) is surprised when Harry (Jack Ellis) turns up at the bookies and announces that Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) has taken him back on the condition that he never sets foot on Coronation Street again so he is leaving the business in Dan's capable hands.
Steve (Simon Gregson) is looking forward to Michelle's (Kym Marsh) return and tells Lloyd (Craig Charles) that he has got the place ready - even down the clean sheets on the bed. He is determined to be the perfect boyfriend - beyond reproach.
Janice (Vicky Entwistle) and Leanne (Jane Danson) are on tenterhooks waiting to see if the money has gone into their bogus bank account. They can't quite believe what they have done and won't believe they have got away with it until they get their hands on the cash!
This episode is written by Lucy Gannon, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Jerry Smith.
Friday 26 September 8.30 - 9pm
A bemused Tony (Gray O'Brien) decides to follow Rosie (Helen Flanagan) to the hotel room to find out exactly what she is up to but he stunned when he finds her draped sedictively across the bed semi-naked. She makes it very clear what it is she wants and disgusted Tony demands she covers herself up. He tells her he is in love with Carla (Alison King) and that she is nothing but a silly little girl. Humiliated and embarassed Rosie has one more ace up her sleeve - the mobile phone footage of Carla and Liam. Triumphantly she replays the damning footage to a stunned Tony - but he doesn't react in exactly the way she had anticipated. Has Rosie pushed Weatherfield's most evil man too far this time?
An excited Janice (Vicky Enwtisle) and Leanne (Jane Danson) go online to check their fake bank account and discover that the £25,000 lottery win has finally been paid in. With cash to splash they head for the Rovers but Leanne can't help worrying about whether Janice can keep her mouth shut and stick to the story about their uncle leaving them the cash in his will.
Jerry (Michael Starke) shocks Mel (Emma Edmondson) and Darryl (Johnny Dixon) with the news that he would like them all to move abroad permanently. Mel and Darryl are stunned - they thought he was taking the younger kids away for a holiday. Will they agree to go with him?
Meanwhile Kevin (Michael Le Vell) is feeling more positive after securing the Streetcars account and when he and Sally (Sally Whittaker) discover Sophie (Brooke Vincent) has gained an A* in a school exam they start to realise they should be paying their younger daughter a bit more attention.
This episode is written by Damon Rochefort, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Jerry Smith.

BROADCASTER ITV is on the verge of announcing its long-anticipated move out of its Quay Street-base and is set to join the BBC at mediacity.uk in Salford.
The MEN understands that an `agreement in principle' has been reached between ITV chiefs and developers Peel Holdings.
Even though the contract has yet to be signed, an announcement is expected in the next few weeks, sources close to the deal said.
ITV currently occupies a small part of the giant Quay Street site which includes the former Granada Studios Tour attraction.
Last month, ITV confirmed to the MEN. that it was looking at cutting jobs as part of a new drive to reduce costs in the tough advertising market.
But the country's largest commercial broadcaster stressed its ongoing commitment to Manchester. Chief operating officer John Cresswell said: "We're disappointed not to have made an announcement yet, but we're getting close.
"I think we're in the last throes of negotiations with the various parties. I hope to be in Manchester and be talking to our staff there soon."
Mr Grade added: "We are committed to production in Manchester - it is home to Britain's most successful television series."
ITV - which employs 6,000 people with around 1,000 based in Manchester - announced that its annual profits slumped by 28 per cent to £91m last month.
The proposed move begs numerous questions - such as what will happen to the set of Coronation Street which is currently filmed in Quay Street and is the undisputed jewel in ITV's crown.
It is understood that Manchester city council has accepted that ITV will be leaving the city, and has had no contact with the broadcaster's property team for several months.
A spokesman for ITV said: "The situation has not changed in that we are continuing to examine the available options regarding ITV's Manchester base.
"We will announce our plans in due course once we have evaluated all the criteria."
The spokesman said no deal had yet been signed with any party.

CORONATION Street favourite Liam Connor is all set to become a dad — but will be murdered before wife Maria can give him the news.
The tragedy devastates long-suffering hairdresser Maria (Samia Smith), who finally believed she was poised for a happy future with the ex-factory owner.
She tied the knot with Liam (Rob James-Collier) after she first fell pregnant at the start of their romance early last year.
But shortly after the wedding, Maria miscarried while worrying about Liam’s illicit love for sister-in-law Carla (Alison King).
United by grief, the pair decide to give their marriage another chance and try for a baby — but Liam is destined never to know they succeed.
A top soap source said: “Losing the baby made them realise how much they love each other and they’re ready to play happy families and start again.
“So when Maria discovers she’s pregnant, she’s delighted and can’t wait to tell Liam.”
But his ill-fated night of passion with Carla comes back to haunt them. Her vengeful fiancé Tony Gordon (Gray O’Brien) learns about the fling and plots the ultimate cold-blooded revenge.
Our source revealed: “It’s going to be really hard for Maria. Not only is she denied the chance to tell Liam he’s going to be a dad, but she also discovers the extent of Carla and Liam’s love.”
Evil Tony is clearly the one who wants Liam dead.
But fans will be left with a “howdunnit” — wondering exactly how he has managed to kill the hunk.

A spokeswoman confirmed: “Viewers will be on the edge of their seats.”
Actor Rob, 31 — who has twice won sexiest male soap star at the British Soap Awards — is leaving The Street after joining in 2006.

Coronation Street's Norris Cole is apparently set to reveal a secret love of cross-dressing.
The busy-body newsagent - played by 68-year-old Malcolm Hebden - confesses to landlady Emily Bishop about his female alias Noretta, after she discovers his stash of saucy ladies lingerie, according to the Daily Star.
Conservative church-goer Emily - played by 77-year-old Eileen Derbyshire - is shocked when Norris puts his sexy underwear into a bundle of clothes she is taking to the church jumble sale, but the bin liner splits open and she discovers it.
Emily confronts her lodger: "I know your private life is your business, but what you get up to in my spare room is most definitely my business. Be honest - are you a transvestite?"
Norris confesses: "I won the underwear in a competition I entered while I was being Noretta Cole, and where I had to describe what my dream date with Pierce Brosnan would be like.
"We'd eat dozens of fresh oysters in a posh restaurant, spend the night flamenco dancing and then take a midnight hot air ride up the M60 orbital."
Coronation Street bosses apparently wrote the storyline to put some comedy into the run up to Christmas.
A source said: "It's one of the funniest plots ever."

BIGAMIST Peter Barlow is coming back to Corrie — with his secret five-year-old son.
The bookie, played by Chris Gascoyne, was left to look after little Simon by estranged wife Lucy, before she died of cancer.
But Peter takes to fatherhood badly — and moves back in with dad Ken and stepmum Deirdre to get help.
A soap source told TV Biz: “He is stunned by his son’s arrival. He doesn’t know the first thing about kids.” Peter even tries to give Simon away after sinking double whiskies in the Rovers Return. The insider said he blurts out: “Does anybody want a five-year-old kid? I’ve got one I don’t want.”
Ken — actor William Roache — has to give him a talking to.
Dying Lucy, played by Katy Carmichael, tracked Peter down to give him Simon. She had quit the Street after learning he was also married to barmaid Shelley Unwin — actress Sally Lindsay.
Peter was last seen in Weatherfield in January last year for step-sister Tracy’s murder trial.
He had a fling with crimper Maria Sutherland, played by Samia Smith. Maria is now married to Liam Connor (Rob James-Collier). But Liam is set to be murdered and Peter could provide a shoulder to cry on.

CORRIE chiefs are following EastEnders’ lead — by introducing a paedophile.
A pervert copper who tried to seduce barmaid Becky Grainger when she was just 15 is on his way to wreak havoc in Weatherfield.
Detective Constable Hooch will seek payback for Becky shopping him as a sicko years ago.
The cop, played by Dominic Carter, wriggled off the rap but is still furious the Rovers’ favourite revealed his sordid secret and tarnished his reputation.
The move comes two weeks into a shocking storyline in rival soap EastEnders, which has seen ex-con Tony King, 33 (Chris Coghill) passionately kissing and bedding his 15-year-old stepdaughter Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty).
A Coronation Street insider said: “We never intentionally copy EastEnders and our plot will be portrayed significantly different to theirs. However, we are aware that this is a sensitive issue and we have ensured that all aspects have been thoroughly researched.”
Tart-with-a-heart Becky, played by Katherine Kelly, 27, comes back in contact with her attacker when she is arrested for vandalism after being dumped by lover Jason (Ryan Thomas).
He had tried to molest her more than ten years ago when he nabbed her for shoplifting as a young teen.
She had told his seniors and now Hooch is out for revenge and fits her up with a false charge of assault — meaning she faces jail.
However, friends Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and Roy Cropper (David Neilson) pledge to help expose Hooch as a twisted paedophile after she finally confides in them.
The storyline will air on the ITV1 soap in November.

There's a report in one of today's tabloids that suggests Coronation Street's Becky Granger (Kat Kelly) is to become embroiled in a paedophile plot, much like that in EastEnders at the moment.
Surprisingly, however, the story isn't quite right.
There is a hint in the storyline that Becky's alleged abuser, policeman DC Hooch (Dominic Carter), tried it on with Becky when she was younger, but that aspect of the storyline certainly isn't the main focus.
Instead, her 'involvement' with Steve (Simon Gregson) and Steve's relationship with Michelle (Kym Ryder) is thrown into the spotlight.
A spokeswoman for the ITV soap confirmed to me this morning: "The storyline involving Becky and DC Hooch is not a 'paedophile storyline'. There is one mention of the fact that Hooch tried it on with Becky when he arrested her for shoplifting when she was 15. But she gave him a black eye and reported him."
She continued: "He is now in charge of her arrest on suspicion of criminal damage and he is seeking revenge by adding an additional phoney charge of assault. Becky's age at the time of the original incident does not become a significant issue in the storyline. What this storyline is about is whether Steve will agree to be her alibi therefore risking his relationship with Michelle."

Empty your diaries for the week of 13 October, because that's when lovely Liam Connor is finally going to meet his doom.
Five episodes will be shown, and they'll cover 24 hours in the lives of the Corrie cast, 24-style, as the Carla/Liam/Tony story reaches a climax with the death of Liam.
The MEN says that three endings have been filmed so what happens won't be spoiled in advance, and it's definitely true that three different endings have been photographed (I've seen them), but whatever happens it's going to be unmissable viewing.

CORONATION Street is to mirror hit American TV series 24 with a week of special episodes.
All five ITV1 visits to Weatherfield that week will cover just one 24-hour period in the lives of the Rovers regulars.
The special soap week, from October 13, will see the exit of former factory boss Liam Connor, played by Rob James Collier.
The dramatic scenes also feature Gray O'Brien as current Underworld co-owner Tony Gordon.
He discovers Liam has been getting a little too close to Tony's bride-to-be Carla Connor (Alison King) as his stag party gets underway.
Three final scenes have been filmed in a bid to keep the exact details of Liam's exit a secret for viewers.
Award-winning drama 24 stars Kiefer Sutherland as American government agent Jack Bauer, with each story taking place over a 24-hour period.

Several new faces are set to appear in Coronation Street over the coming months as the Windass clan (yes, you read that right) turn up in Weatherfield.
The family comprises husband Eddie (Steve Huison) and wife Donna (Debbie Rush), their son Carl (Mikey North) and Eddie's brother, Len (Conor Ryan - not to be confused with Ryan Connor!). Their names, however, may change before they appear on screen - you wouldn't believe the number of name changes there have been since their inception!
Some of you may recognise the name 'Steve Huison'. He played Lomper in The Full Monty and more recently, The Royal Today's porter Norman Dunstan (pictured, above right).
Apparently, David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) will finally meet his match in Eddie Windass in a storyline which airs at the back end (no pun intended) of this year. And let's not forget there will be a vacant property on the Street at the end of the year when the last of the Mortons moves out...
Meanwhile, David's cellmate Graeme Proctor (Craig Gazey, pictured left) will make a return to our screens in November when he's released from the Young Offenders' Institute.
In other casting news, I was pleased to see Liam Connor's (Rob James-Collier) mother and father Barry (Frank Grimes) and Helen (Sorcha Cusack) on location, filming for their screen son's funeral. Obviously, I'm not happy about the occasion that they've returned for - losing Liam will be a big loss to Corrie - but I am pleased the storyline team has acknowledged his family. There have been various occasions in soap where important relatives have failed to turn up at such important ceremonies.
However, there's no sign of Archie Shuttleworth (Roy Hudd) again. He wasn't even there for Vera's funeral. Maybe he's gone out of business? Mind you, is it possible for an undertaker to go out of business?
And finally, Janice Battersby's (Vicky Entwistle) fancy man Roger Stiles (Andrew Dunn) will disappear from our screens at the beginning of next month when he discovers the truth about Janice's lottery scam. There are no current plans for the character to return, but the door has been left open.
That rounds up my Coronation Street cast update. To digest this information properly, why don't you pop across to the Soap Movers Table to see all of Corrie's movers and shakers?
WOW!

ACTRESS Helen Flanagan screams as she films shocking Corrie scenes — and is so convincing that horrified witnesses call the COPS.
The real-life drama happened as the crew shot scenes where Rosie Webster, played bv Helen, is locked in an isolated farmhouse by her ex lover John Stape (Graeme Hawley).
The teen star’s yells were so loud that horrified neighbours called the police — unaware that it was part of a gritty soap plot.
The cops raced to the set on full alert, sirens blaring, only to find the cries of “Help me, please get me out” were just part of the script.
The unsettling scenes, which see enraged teacher John exact a twisted revenge on teenage temptress Rosie, will air late next month.

Coronation Street's Dev Alahan is due to gain a business but lose a friend when he buys Jerry Morton's kebab shop.
The Daily Star reports that Dev, played by Jimmi Harkishin, tricks Jerry's son Darryl into revealing the healthy state of the eaterie's finances.
On finding out what a proposition it is, Dev snaps it up - but not without upsetting Darryl, played by Jonathan Dixon, along the way.
"I would kill Dev with my own hands," Darryl says when he finds out.
"There was me giving him all this info about how good the shop is because I wanted to prove I'm up to running a business. And all the time, he was milking me 'cos he wanted to buy it himself."

This is the moment when Coronation Street’s teenage temptress Rosie Webster reveals all – in more ways than one.
The saucy secretary goes all out to seduce her boss – Weatherfield’s ruthless businessman Tony Gordon - after he takes her for lunch at a luxury hotel.
She strips to her underwear, a sexy corset and knickers, and waits for him in the hotel room in the episode to be screened tonight (Fri 26th Sept).
But when he rejects her and threatens her with the sack she decides it’s time he knew the truth about his fiancée Carla and her brother-in-law Liam Connor.
So she smugly shows him the footage she shot on her mobile phone of the two of them kissing.
Even Rosie is not prepared for Tony’s jealous reaction. He throws the terrified teenager down on the bed and tells her that no one else must find out about Carla and Liam’s affair.
And when Rosie mysteriously disappears, her family and the police soon establish that Tony was the last person to see her.
Over the coming weeks a desperate search gets underway for Rosie – has she run away or is there a more sinister explanation?
Actress Helen Flanagan, 18, has played Rosie since she was 9-years-old but she wasn’t worried about the underwear scenes.
She said: “Rosie is such a fun character to play. You never know what she will get up to next. Everyone was fantastic on set when we had to do these scenes and put me at ease.
“We had meetings about what Rosie would wear and it was decided that as she has access to all this amazing underwear she would go all out to try and seduce Tony.
“I knew that I had to act confidently because Rosie is confident and there was no point in being embarrassed. In the end I had great fun doing these scenes.”

This episode heralds the start of ‘murder week’. By the end of this week’s episodes Liam Connor (Rob James Collier) will be dead. Unusually for Coronation Street, every episode this week will be focusing on the events of just one day – revolving around Tony’s (Gray O'Brien) stag do.
We will not be revealing how Liam dies but one thing’s for sure - Tony Gordon will be the man responsible. Three different endings have been filmed but viewers will not know which one is going to be used up until the moment of the murder.
In tonight’s episode Tony and his mates gather ready for the stag do. They arrive in Roy’s Rolls to get into teams for the paintballing but Liam has other things on his mind and can’t stay away from Carla (Aison King). He insists she meet him in the Rovers back yard where he tries to persuade her to call off the wedding. Meanwhile Tony is keeping an eye on Liam – convinced he and Carla are having an affair.
Carla’s mind is in turmoil as she cracks open the bubbly for her hen night with the girls. She knows she wants Liam but she is terrified of the consequences of breaking up with Tony.
Elsewhere on the Street, Sophie (Brooke Vincent) is disappointed that her dad is so pre-occupied with Rosie’s disappearance that he has forgotten her swimming competition. But Kevin (Michael Le Vell) is soon reminded he has two daughters when another postcard arrives with the message Sophie’s next.
Steve (Simon Gregson) is rattled when DC Hooch (Dominic Carter) arrives on the street wanting to ask him more questions and Tina (Michelle Keegan) is delighted when Rita (Barbara Knox) offers her a job at the Kabin helping out whilst Norris (Macolm Hebdon) recovers from his accident.
This episode is written by Mark Burt, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Ian Bevitt.

PI for the rest of the week follows:
Monday 13 October 8.30pm
As the stags head for the paintballing range is this the moment that Tony (Gray O'Brien) will choose to see off Liam (Rob James Collier) once and for all?
The hens meanwhile arrive at the restaurant for their more low key celebrations and Leanne (Jane Danson) grows increasingly worried about Carla’s state of mind as she clashes with Michelle over Paul. Carla (Alison King) dashes to the ladies followed by Leanne who is astonished when Carla confesses that she is in love with Liam.
Kevin (Michael Le Vell) is beside himself with worry and as soon as Tyrone (Alan Halsall) arrives back at the garage he jumps in the pick-up truck and heads for the swimming pool to pick up Sophie (Brooke Vincent). When he arrives she isn’t there and he is relieved to arrive back in the street to discover John (Graeme Hawley), Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Chesney (Sam Aston) have given her a lift home.
Steve’s (Simon Gregson) enjoyment of the Stag do is hampered by DC Hooch (Dominic Carter) who tells him he knows he is lying to try and protect Becky (Katherine Kelly) and warns him he will find out in the end.
Rita (Barbara Knox) still hasn’t broken the news to Norris (Malcom Hebdon) that she has taken Tina (Michelle Keegan) on at the Kabin and asks Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) if she will do it for her. Meanwhile Dan (Matthew Crompton) donates a bag of ladies clothes to Emily for her charity collection – but whose clothes are they?
This episode is written by Damon Rochefort, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Ian Bevitt.

Wednesday 15 October 7.30pm
Leanne (Jane Danson) tells Carla (Alison King) that she needs to come clean to everyone now about what is going on rather than waiting until it is too late. Carla balks at the thought of upsetting everyone but knows that Leanne is right when she tells her she can’t marry Tony (Gray O'Brien). As she waits for a taxi to take her to see Liam she is stunned when Michelle (Kym Marsh) guesses correctly that Maria is not drinking because she is pregnant. As far as Carla is concerned this changes everything and she knows it is too late for her and Liam (Rob James Collier).
But will Liam ever get to know that he is going to be a dad or is he already dead?
Kevin (Michael Le Vell) has imposed a new set of rules on Sophie (Brooke Vincent) to ensure she is safe. She pretends to be annoyed by the restrictions but is secretly pleased she is finally getting some attention. The police come round to question them and Kevin is worried when the officer tells him that there is a possibility that Rosie may be in serious trouble and Sophie could be next.
Tyrone (Alan Halsall) is worried about the wedding and with the church booked he has little time to save up. Molly (Vicky Binns) insists she is happy with a reception at the Rovers but Tyrone wants more for his bride and Pam (Kate Anthony) suggests he help her flog some more knock of stuff.
Elsewhere Amber (Nikki Patel) is looking forward to her night of romance with Darryl (Joohnny Dixon). Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and John (Graeme Hawley) continue to get closer.
This episode is written by Jan McVerry, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Ian Bevitt.

Friday 17 October 7.30pm
As the week’s episodes draw to a close has Tony (Gray O'Brien) already done away with Liam (Rob James Collier) or is tonight the night he meets his end? Will Maria (Samia Smith) get to tell him her fabulous news about the baby? Will Carla (Alison King) decide to marry Tony?
Elsewhere on the street Kevin (Michael Le Vell) is pleased when Pam (Kate Anthony) and Molly (Vicky Binns) invite him and Sophie (Broke Vincent) round for dinner to take their minds of the events of the last few days. With Sally away looking for Rosie, Kevin (Michael Le Vell) is grateful to have someone to talk to.
Amber (Nikki Patel) and Darryl (Johnn Dixon) are enjoying each other’s company and things are about to progress when Tina (Michelle Keegan) and David (Jack P Shepherd) gatecrash the party – after having supper with Gail (Helen Worth), Joe (Reece Dinsdale) and Ted (Michael Byrne).
This episode is written by Simon Crowther, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Ian Bevitt.

Friday 17th October 8.30pm
As the dramatic events of the week draw to a close the shockwaves of Liam’s (Rob James Collier) death reverberate around the street. A devastated Maria (Samia Smith) can’t believe he has been so cruelly taken from her before she even had chance to tell him about the baby. Carla (Alison King) is also grief stricken but knows she has to hide the depths of her feelings from Tony (Gray O'Brien) - unaware that he knows exactly what has been going on.
Will the police pin the death on Tony or has he committed the perfect murder?
Back on the Street Tina (Michelle Keegan) and David (Jack P Shepherd) are making themselves at home in Dev’s flat and thwarting Darryl (Johnny Dixon) and Amber’s (Nikki Patel) plans. Amber hits upon an idea to get rid of them and pretends her dad is on his way home but has the moment passed for the young couple?
Pam (Kate Anthony) is astonished at Tyrone’s selling expertise and reckons the two of them could make a fortune but Tyrone (Alan Halsall) doesn’t want Molly (Vicky Binns) to know what he is up to.
A worried Kevin (Michael le Vell) pours his heart out on the phone to Sally (Sally Whittaker) when Sophie (Brooke Vincent) comes in – he struggles to pull himself together. Will the Webster’s family life ever get back to normal?
This episode is written by Chris Fewtrell, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Ian Bevitt.

HAYLEY Cropper is on her way back to Corrie — with a new man, we can reveal.
Julie Hesmondhalgh, 38, who plays the transsexual has had a year’s break from the ITV1 soap after an exhausting workload.
In the plot, fans saw Hayley leave to do charity work in Africa.
But hubby Roy (David Nelson) is in for a shock when she returns and says she has fallen in love with a Swedish teacher called Olaf and is leaving him.
A show source said: “Hayley leaves Roy devastated, but soon discovers Olaf is a rogue and begs Roy for forgiveness. Will he take her back?”
TRAUMATISED Rosie Webster is comforted by mum Sally after escaping the terrifying clutches of psycho teacher John Stape.
Corrie’s sexy wildchild — played by Helen Flanagan, 18 — had been kidnapped and kept locked in an isolated farmhouse by her obsessed ex-lover.
Nicked ... cops lead away obsessed kidnapper Stape
Nicked ... cops lead away obsessed kidnapper Stape
When she finally manages to flee, covered in cuts and bruises, she bolts to the open arms of her sobbing mum, played by Sally Whittaker, 45.
Cops then lead Stape (Graeme Hawley) off in handcuffs — as his girlfriend Fiz Brown (Jennie McAlpine) hugs Rosie and desperately tries to convince the Street she knew nothing about the kidnap.

I really like Carla, so I'm glad shes coming back if its only temp
She'll probably need a break to clear her head or something, but the whole Liam thing would be a good opportunity to write her out for a year or so without having her wait around for another 3 months.
She did look so hot then though just stood at the door

Rob James-Collier has been spilling the beans to TV Times magazine about the three possible ways that Liam Connor might meet his death.
"I can't tell you exactly what happens," he says. "Three methods of murder have been speculated about. There's one where Tony kills Liam at his paintballing stag do, one where he's arranged a hit and run, and another where he pushes Liam off a balcony at the Victoria Street flats."
Having seen photos of all these scenarios, I like the paintballing one as it looks very dramatic, but arranging a hit-and-run sounds more like Tony Gordon, as he seems to like getting other people to do his dirty work for him. Rob James-Collier doesn't mind which way his character is done in: "I'm happy as it means I can have closure and move on to the next thing," he says.
Meanwhile, he once again confirms that Carla is the woman Liam loves. "Liam thought he loved Maria, but it turns out that he doesn't. He chose the wrong woman."
his is great news. We recently had an all-too-brief reintroduction to "Sunny Jim" Jed Stone (played by Kenneth Cope) as he stood up to Underworld Overlord Tony Gordon. We last saw Jed in hospital, and were left wondering whether that would be the last we'd see of him.
Apparently not - Inside Soap reckons that Jed will be leaving hospital soon, and will stay with Emily Bishop while he convalesces. Hopefully this will lead to some reminiscing about the old days, a bit of rivalry with Norris, and of course Tony Gordon isn't going to be thrilled to see him either. But we are!

Today sees the return of........TANGO WATCH!!!!
In today's Tango watched we look at the mystery Tanned Temptress Carla's phantom tan! In the first episode on Monday Carla was ILLUMINOUS! It could be that the actress was pregnant.....Pah! Only if she's got a radioactive womb! Even though she looked deadly irradiated she managed to carry off the look with gusto, the Tanning gods salute you Carla!
Strangely though all traces of her tan disapeared by the second episode....have we discovered the Marie Celeste of the Tanning world? Will the mystery of the Marie Carla ever be solved? Who knows!
P.S LOWER MY KARMA! please.
