JOE ON THE RUN
www.dailystar.co.uk/
JOE McIntyre does a runner after he becomes the prime suspect for a robbery at Bill Webster’s builders yard.
The kitchen fitter (Reece Dinsdale, 49) worked there before copper piping and tools went missing.
But David Platt (Jack P Shepherd, 20) saw two of the newly-arrived Windass family by the yard on the night of the robbery.
Joe’s daughter Tina (Michelle Keegan, 21) tracks him down to his hideout in a lock-up and tells him: “You’ve got to come back and face everyone dad.
David saw Gary and Len Windass near the yard that night

CORRIE chiefs are looking for a new young star to play Sophie Webster’s boyfriend.
Actress Brooke Vincent has impressed them so much they are scouring drama schools for a love interest and a bunch of school pals.
In the soap Sophie, 14, is on the verge of telling her parents Sally (Sally Whittaker) and Kevin (Michael Le Vell) she is pregnant.
An ITV source said: “Brooke’s a fabulous actress and we want to cash in on that.”

Tonights episode:
A stunned Maria listens as Rosie reveals that she had shown the Carla and Liam footage to Tony. Her thoughts racing, she starts to analyse everything she's been told and works out that Tony knew about the kiss before he asked Liam to be best man. What does all it all mean?
At The Rovers, Liz suggests to Michelle that she orchestrate a night of romance with Steve. Michelle tells a non-plussed Steve that she is cooking dinner. Becky isn't worried about this development until Liz lets slip that she walked in on Steve and Michelle kissing in the back room. Is Steve ever going to build up the courage to finish things properly with Michelle?
Molly grows increasingly suspicious of Tyrone's behaviour when he sees him spending more time with Minnie. Unaware that his real reason for talking to Minnie is to sell her cheap perfume, she begins to wonder if something is going on. He convinces her that he doesn't fancy Minnie, but just how long can he keep the details of his and Pam's dodgy dealings a secret?
Peter thinks he and Leanne are becoming closer when he invites her round for a pizza and she asks if she can read Simon a story. But when Peter moves in for a kiss, Leanne is decidedly cool with him.

CORRIE has hit the bullseye — by signing up darts ace Phil “The Power” Taylor in a cameo role.
He plays Disco Dave from rival boozer The Flying Horse who takes on a Rovers team led by Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).
Legend Phil, 48, landed the role after meeting star Michael Le Vell, who plays Kevin Webster, in the celebrity rounds of ITV’s rec-ent Grand Slam of darts. The pair bec-ame pals and producers penned a storyline for him. The scenes, which air in February, will see Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment), Ashley Peacock (Steven Arnold), Kevin, Bill Webster (Peter Armitage) and Eddie Windass (Steve Huison) enter a darts competition.
Phil said: “It's an honour. My whole family are huge Corrie fans and I’ve always fancied a game of darts in the Rovers, especially against Kevin.
“I usually clear my diary in the run up to the World Championships but I made an exception for this. I’ll use the experience as a warm-up for the tournament.”
A Coronation Street spokesperson said: “When we heard that Phil was a fan of the show and would love a walk-on part we knew he would be perfect as Disco Dave.”

Darts supremo Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor is to join the Corrie cast for one episode.
He’ll appear on the Street in February, taking part in a darts match between Rovers regulars and a team from the Flying Horse.
Phil will take on the role of Disco Dave – a talented member of the Flying Horse team who compete against Rovers’ team members Kirk, Ashley, Kevin, Bill Webster and Eddie Windass.
Corrie fan Phil landed the part after chatting with members of the cast – including Michael Le Vell - who competed against Phil in the celebrity opening rounds of the recent ITV Grand Slam of darts.
Phil said: “It’s an honour to be given the opportunity to play this part in Coronation Street.
“Me, my wife and my mum, in fact my whole family are huge Corrie fans and I’ve always fancied a game of darts in the Rovers – particularly against Kevin Webster. Michael took me on, on my stage and now I can take him on, on his.”
A Coronation Street spokesperson said: “When we heard that Phil was a fan of the show and would love a walk-on part we knew he would be perfect as Disco Dave.
“We’re sure he’ll be giving some tips to the Rovers darts team!”
The episode will be screened on February 2nd.

It's not as if she hasn't had a head start at being the Next Sexy Young Thing on Coronation Street. Rosie Webster hopped into bed with Craig Harris at a tender age and wasted no time seducing John Stape, her mother's tutor, after her attempts to lure Liam Connor failed. That really blew up in her face when Stape became obsessed with her because he felt Rosie was instrumental in ruining his life because he, of course, wasn't an adult who could make a responsible decision on his own. (*sarcasm*) She stripped to try to seduce Tony Gordon but that was also a disaster. Now it seems that Rosie is going to cash in on the kidnapping. The Daily Mail reports that Rosie sells her story to the newspaper but insists they do a sexy photo shoot of her wearing very little. I just hope it's Underworld's product she's modelling. Loyalty is everything, you know! Her parents are going to go ballistic, as you might expect but me? I find this all a bit tedious though not out of character for Rosie, really. Helen Flanagan won't mind, though. She's proud of her body and hasn't mind showing it off on screen in the past.

PI for the rest of the week follows:
Monday 5 January 8.30pm
Steve (Simon Gregson) has smelled some familiar perfume at Lloyd’s (Craig Charles) flat and is desperately trying to guess the identity of his friend’s new woman. As he goes to leave however he spots Liz’s keys and it all falls into place. Disgusted he finds Liz (Beverly Callard) hiding behind the sofa and demands to know what is going on. The two men almost come to blows and an incredulous Steve arrives back in the pub and tells Michelle (Kym Marsh) what he has discovered. Michelle tries to make him see the funny side and as they laugh and joke he hasn’t the heart to tell her it is over.
Meanwhile Becky (Katherine Kelly) has confided in Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) about her relationship with Steve and the fact that he is breaking things off with Michelle this evening but as the night drags on Becky realises she has been let down yet again.
Joe (Reece Dinsdale) is trying to hide the seriousness of his cash flow problems from Gail (Helen Worth) and is embarrassed when Tyrone (Alan Halsall) twice finds him sitting in the can doing nothing. When Joe and Gail bump into Tyrone later in the pub Joe has to do some quick thinking when Tyrone mentions seeing him – after all, Gail thought he was at a trade fair across town, how long can he keep this pretense up?
Molly (Vicky Binns) confronts Jackie (Margi Clarke) about her imaginary illness but Jackie is off the hook when Molly takes an urgent phone call saying her dad has been taken into hospital.
This episode is written by Simon Crowther, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Duncan Foster.

Wednesday 7 January 7.30pm
Michelle (Kym Marsh) can’t stop herself from smiling after the night she and Steve (Simon Gregson) have just spent together. By contrast Becky (Katherine Kelly) is back at the café feeling sad and lonely and waiting to hear from Steve. Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) tries to tell her that things might be taking a little longer than expected so when Steve arrives at the café she is delighted and doesn’t give him chance to explain what has happened before dragging him to the bedroom. Afterwards an exhausted Steve chickens out of coming clean and simply asks her to stay away from the Rovers for a while.
Things are getting worse for Joe (Reece Dinsdale) and when David asks him for his wages he tells him that he’s be better going to the job centre. Later Joe talks to Bill (Peter Armitage) about the labouring work on the building project but asks Bill to tell people he is kitchen fitting.
Molly (Vicky Binns) tells Tyrone (Alan Halsall) that her dad will miss the wedding and asks Pam (Kate Anthony) to give her away – and when Jackie (Margi Clarke) appears with her bags packed they are all glad they are finally going to see the back of her – but then Molly has a change of heart.
Tara (Ayesha Dharker) tells Amber (Nikki Patel) and Molly the plans she is making for their joint 18th birthday party and hen night but Dev feels uneasy when Tara tells Amber that she got a new car for her 18th. Will Amber be disappointed with what Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) has got her?

Friday 9 January 7.30pm
A happy and oblivious Becky (Katherine Kelly) is waiting for Steve (Simon Gregson) in the street and asks him how Michelle (Kym Marsh) is coping. Covering Steve suggests that Becky stays away from the Rovers so she is surprised when Poppy (Sophya Haque) rings her later to ask her to do a shift. She’s even more shocked when she realizes that she is standing in for Michelle who has gone to have her hair done for a night out with Steve. Realising Steve has been lying to her all along a devastated Becky tells him it over.
A hungover Peter (Chris Gascoyne) wakes late again to find Simon surrounded by milk and broken glass – the poor little lad had been trying to get ready for school without waking his dad. He’s determined to make amends and when Liz (Beverly Callard)offers to collect Simon later he insists he will come with her.
Molly (Vicky Binns) and Amber (Nikki Patel) are excited about their joint birthday and hen parties whilst Tyrone (Alan Halsall) is driving Kevin (Michael Le Vell) mad with his constant talk about the wedding plans.

Friday 9 January 8.30pm
It’s the night of Molly (Vicky Binns) and Tyrone’s (Alan Halsall) Stag and Hen dos and the girls head for Dev’s flat whilst the boys hit the less than salubrious surroundings of the Flying Horse.
At Dev’s the sophisticated tone of the party is spoilt somewhat by the arrival of Jackie Dobbs (Margi Clarke) but Molly insists she can stay as long as she behaves. An excited Graeme (Craig Gazey) is doing the catering but ends up getting dragged into a whole lot more. Meanwhile Tara (Ayesha Dharker) can’t help noticing that Amber (Nikki Patel) seems a little disappointed by her birthday present from Dev (Jimmi Harkishin).
Over at the Flying Horse the lads are enjoying a few beers and some jokes at Tyrone’s expense. The night is ruined for Tyrone however when Aunty Pam (Kate Antony) calls to ask him to do one last job for him to get the money for a new pigeon coop for Jack (William Tarmey). Tyrone agrees to help Jack but then finds himself agreeing to a meeting at 1pm on his wedding day – has Tyrone bitten off more than he can chew this time?
A devastasted Becky (Katherine Kelly) watches Michelle (Kym Marsh) and Steve (Simon Gregson) head off for their night out before handing in her notice and. Steve tries to talk to her as she leaves the pub but she’s had enough and heads back to an empty café where she sits alone in the darkness and ponders being let down by yet another man.

This is a street in the city of Weatherfield, not so far from Manchester. A short, narrow, cobbled street, lined on one side by a factory and Mission Hall. On the opposite side of the street stands 7 smoke-stained dark brick terraced houses, bookended by a pub on one end and a corner shop at the other. We see a group of children chanting a rhyme outside the shop where a middle aged woman is taking in a sign from the pavement and looking up at the name over the door. Elsie Lappin, it says. The woman re-enters the shop and says to another woman who is standing behind the counter, "Now the next thing you've got to do is get a sign writer in. That thing above the door'll have to be changed". The other woman's name is Florence Lindley, or Florrie, as she is preferably known. She has just bought the little shop from Mrs. Lappin and is already changing the look of some of the product displays to entice buyers. She thanks Mrs. Lappin for staying on until she gets settled and is helpfully warned to watch that breadman, he'll try to sell you the world!
What about tick? Mrs. Lappin instructs her she'll have to use her own judgment but watch them Tanners at Number 11. Don't let them go over 10 bob or you won't see them from the end of one week to the next! Taken under advisement. Credit isn't advisable but the customers won't spend as much if you don't give it. A customer arrives, a young dark haired woman in her 20's and is introduced to Florrie as Linda Cheveski, Linda Tanner as was (with a meaningful tone of voice).
We next see the door of Number 11 and inside, Mrs. Elsie Tanner has charged her son Dennis with taking 2 bob out of her purse. Dennis, a handsome man of about 21, slicks back his ducktail hair and defends himself. Elsie is a curvaceous woman in her very early 40's, attractive in an obvious sort of way. Not content at that, she then nags him about getting a job but he's insistent that he's tried and nobody will hire him and she knows why. She can't quite say it but he does, prison. He's just 7 weeks out of Borstal and that's why no one will give him a chance. He shifts the chip that has settled on his shoulder and accuses his mother of preferring to have a son like "Kenneth Bahlow" at Number 3 (said with the utmost contempt, I might add). And what's wrong with him? at least he's got brains and will make something of himself. Elsie sighs and wishes her fractious family were more like the Barlows, at least they aren't rowing all the time. (ah but who knows what goes on behind closed doors?)
We're about to find out. Action shifts to Number 3 Coronation Street where Mrs. Ida Barlow, a tidy woman in her 40's serves up the tea for her husband Frank and her son Kenneth. Kenneth is a somewhat good looking clean cut young man of about 21 or so but he doesn't look best pleased when his mother hands him a bottle of brown sauce to pour on his meal. She thought he always liked it! Used to, he groans with embarrassment and a vague expression of contempt when he sees his father helping himself to the sauce and swilling his food down with cups of tea. His father notices and takes his son to task for looking down on his family with that snooty expression. Mother Barlow tries to steer the conversation elsewhere but it doesn't work. Father Barlow barks that his son thinks they're common, not good enough and keeps needling Kenneth in spite of Ida's protests. Bet he doesn't tell his poncy college friends where his mother works, slogging day after day doing the washing up for the Imperial Hotel. Ken defends himself. Of course he tells them... if they ask. The barrage continues and it sounds like Ken has been sporting a less than acceptable attitude for his father's taste since starting college, with Ken's habit of making condescending comments about how his family eats and lives in the back streets of a working class neighbourhood not going over well at all with his working class father.
Ida wonders where her younger son, David has got to and Ken takes this opportunity to tell his parents that he's going out tonight, meeting a female friend from college...er...at the Imperial Hotel. Oh no you're not, storms his father who forbids it! He's not throwing money back at the awful place his mother has to work so hard for so little wages. The subject appears to be closed, the master of the house has spoken and being the well brought up lad he is, it looks like Ken is going to obey his dad, not liking it one bit. Frank retires to his easy chair with that last cup of tea. Into this tension bounces David who is late because he's had a puncture. Mother fetches David's tea from the oven and heats up gravy while Father helpfully goes to look for the puncture kit. Left alone with his brother, David asks Ken what's up and is told about the Imperial Hotel disaster. David understands how "well" that went over. The brothers are obviously friends as well and there doesn't seem to be any sibling rivalry between the two though it seems to me that Dad favours the younger son over the older.
The next scene establishes that we are about to enter The Rovers Return. Inside, Ken is at the bar, dressed in a sport jacket and tie, hair carefully combed. He orders two ten-packs of cigarettes from the landlady, a small older woman named Annie Walker who runs the pub with her be-spectacled husband Jack. In slouches Dennis Tanner, looking tough in his grotty leather jacket and long hair, very James Dean. He orders a half and decides to order cigarettes as well but he hasn't enough money to pay for them so isn't allowed to have them. No credit, house rules he is informed. He and Ken strike up some semblance of a conversation. They have grown up together but have turned out very differently. Dennis makes a few caustically sarcastic remarks referring to scholarships and colleges. When Mrs. Walker goes to get Ken's change, Ken slides one of the packages across to Dennis, generously. (old times sake perhaps?) Dennis is surprised but doesn't turn him down nor offers to repay him at a later time. He chugs back his beer and leaves, nodding to Ken in a sort of thanks, cracking that it's all government money after all. Annie shakes her head at Ken's generosity and feels sorry for Dennis's mother, Elsie. "Oooh some mother's do 'ave 'em!".
Meanwhile, Elsie is observing her face in the small mirror of a compact, examining the signs of age. "Eh Elsie, just about ready fer the knacker yard" she mournfully exclaims. We hear a rattling from outside and she hollers out the window at some children who have knocked over her bins. Her daughter comes in with the few things she picked up at the corner shop but won't accept money from her mother. It was her that took the two bob from Elsie's purse! She gets a scolding. With the radio playing soft music in the background, the women talk about Dennis and his job finding efforts. The conversation turns to Linda's husband, Ivan. Elsie has guessed that Linda has left her husband and Linda confirms it. She won't really say why other than she is afraid of him when he gets so moody at times and they're always rowing. (sounds like that's a normal occurrence for this family!)
Linda looks in the mirror and wonders if she should go blonde. Elsie has sat down with the newspaper and is only half listening. Linda keeps interrupting her with comments about her marriage and seems to be wanting to tell her mother something but can't quite bring herself to do it. Instead she asks her mother if there's a job going at the department store where her mother works and is told possibly in millinery but it's only temporary until Christmas. Hopefully Linda will have a think by then and be back with her husband.
Back in the shop, the ex and current owners are restocking shelves and chatting about houses. Mrs. Lappin is retiring and buying herself a little bungalow but Mrs. Lindley prefers a house with an upstairs. It doesn't seem right, somehow, not going upstairs to sleep! Elsie decides to brew up and just as she goes into the flat, a stocky older woman wearing a hairnet and a face like an old bulldog comes in. She introduces herself as Ena Sharples who is caretaker of the Glad Tidings Mission across the street. It's her personal mission to find out all about the new shop owner and she begins, after gleaning Florrie's name, by asking where Florrie worships. Florrie is ambivalent which leads Mrs. Sharples to assume she's C of E and she launches into a narrative about her sister and her husband who turned C of E. Another ambivalently answered question about where she plans to be buried brings another lecture about avoiding the local crematorium whose musical director plays inappropriate hymns. Mrs. Sharples seems to have known of Florrie Lindley because she knows that Florrie was from Esmerelda Street, ("Very Bay Window down there, you'll find it different round here!") that she worked behind the bar at the Farrier for donkey's years, is a widow and has no children ("Better off without them"). In and amongst all this are several requests, commands really, for a packet of baking powder, a bottle of bleach and a half dozen of them fancies "No eclairs!". Ena also warns Florrie about the Tanners at Number 11 and then manages to get a replacement egg from the former owner, claiming the one she had this morning was off. And off she goes, expecting her purchases to go on the slate ("Don't worry, I'm not thinkin' of running away"), leaving the two women laughing. "She's quite morbid, in't she?" observes Florrie.
Back at Number 3, David and his father are wrestling with the bicycle tyre, trying to determine where the puncture is. Frank seems to have a much easier relationship with his younger son than he does his elder. More in common perhaps. Even when Frank gets annoyed at David, it's more of a loving exasperation than it is the defensive position he seems to take with Kenneth. David steps out to hire a pump and Ida picks her way carefully past the parts on the floor, fetches her knitting and sits down. Frank looks at her sheepishly and whines that he can't back down and let Kenneth go to the Imperial now and thinks Ken should learn to live within his own class. He establishes that Ken is over at Number 1 visiting Mr. Tatlock and observes that his older son spends more time over there than at his own home these days. "We've certainly raised a rum 'un".
Inside Number 1, Mr. Albert Tatlock, a short round WW1 veteran is examining his coin collection and making small talk with young Kenneth. He realizes Ken has something on his mind and offers an ear to listen but is told he wouldn't understand. Thank you very much retorts Mr. Tatlock who already knows that Ken was forbidden to pick up his friend, Susan Cunningham, at the Imperial Hotel. Mrs. Barlow told him. He suggests that Ken go into town and collect her and bring her back here. Ken is aghast at that suggestion and couldn't possibly. Why not? Oh, well, (and in a voice dripping with boredom, contempt and snobbery) "Coronation Street"! When challenged, Ken does say that he admits where he comes from when asked but he doesn't fancy bringing Susan round to see it either. After they make a gentle joke at Ena Sharple's expense ("My place of worship is the Rovers Return!") Albert in no uncertain terms tells Kenneth that the college has turned him into a proper stuck up little snob. Ken begins to protest but his mother interrupts at the back door, with the news that Kenneth's friend, Susan has turned up at Number 3 to see him! Ken leaves skid marks on the floor in his haste to get back to do damage control and Ida and Albert share a chuckle.
Back in Number 3, Susan is watching Frank and David on the floor mending the flat tyre and offers her help. David establishes that they know someone in common and are just sharing a handshake when Ken comes in and if it wasn't black and white, i think his face would be beet red with embarrassment.

What could possibly be sexier than Corrie’s Carla Gordon?
Two Carla Gordon’s of course!
http://media.entertainment.sky.com/image/unscaled/2008/12/10/News-ITV-Coronation-Street-Sexy-Natalie-Anderson-to-play-Carlas-Sister-Wk-50-Dec08-6.jpg
ITV bosses are looking for a hot lady to play Carla’s feisty sister. And they already have one in their sights: Natalie Anderson who stars as Nurse Stella Davenport in The Royal.
Alison King who plays Carla in Corrie was recently voted Sexiest Female in the TV Times Awards for the second year running.
The win came as a shock to the actress who’s expecting her first baby in February. She said: “This is definitely the sexiest thing that has happened to me while I’ve been pregnant!”
When Alison returns from maternity leave next year, her character should have her sister in tow.
Natalie has already quit her role in The Royal, heightening speculation that she’s set to play Carla’s sibling. Her final scenes in the retro hospital show are in the first episode of the new series, which kicks off this Sunday.
A new urban fox on the Street? How will the boys cope?

Carla might not like her Christmas present from Tony once she realises he has used it to strangle pensioner Jed.
Jed has caught Tony chatting with Jimmy and puts two and two together. He knows that Tony must have asked Jimmy to kill Liam.
If you would rather see the latest Corrie photos click here.
He approaches Tony and demands that he hands over money to keep his secret. Tony does but when Jed comes back on Christmas Eve demanding more money Tony decides to kill him.
An insider told Soaplife magazine: "He strangles Jed with a negligee - and what's so fabulous is he later gives it to Carla and apologises that it's a bit creased!
"He bundles Jed's body into a hamper but when he returns later, Jed's still breathing."
Evil Tony leaves Jed tied up for a day before returning. He tells him to leave Coronation Street... or else.
Jed is so scared that he agrees - but Tony must silence Maria too if he wants to get away with Liam's murder.
He isnt dead? D:

The Press Association is less up front and this other source also says Tony plans to strangle Maria...which seems to be a lie since she is still alive after next week
Christmas Eve is usually a time for peace and goodwill to all men. Unless your name is Tony Gordon, that is.
He's already bumped Liam off, and on December 24, the murderous Coronation Street Underworld boss will strike again when a tipsy Jed comes to the factory demanding more cash in return for his silence.
While the factory staff are at home getting changed for the office party, Tony will stay behind to get things ready and finish off some last-minute wrapping.
However, Gordon will see red at Jed's demands; throttle him with Carla's negligee, then cram his body inside a storage hamper.
To make matters worse, the drunken factory workers will dance around the hamper unaware of its secret.
At the risk of sounding like a chapter of the Star Wars saga, there's one question on many fans' lips: will Jed die?
Well, that remains to be seen, but considering he survived a heart attack a few weeks ago, it'll be interesting to see if the stranger who later shocks Tony at Underworld will be a resurrected Jed or somebody else.
If Stone does perish, it will mark the end of an era for actor Kenneth Cope.
He first played the ducking and diving character on April 24, 1961, and made history in August this year.
Cope became one of the few soap actors to reprise their role after more than 40 years away from the street.

"Christmas Day dawns in Weatherfield with everyone preparing for the day ahead. One man with more to do than most is Tony Gordon (Gray O'Brien) who has the small matter of a body to dispose of before he can get down to celebrating. He tells Carla (Alison King) that there has been a break in at one of the properties and he heads for the factory. But there is a surprise awaiting him when he gets there.
Meanwhile preparations are under way for Christmas dinner at Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) and Norris’ (Malcolm Hebden) but Emily is not happy starting without Jed, whose bed hasn’t been slept in all night. Tony is desperate to make sure it looks as though Jed has done a runner and he sneaks into the house to remove his belongings – will he manage to get everything out without getting discovered? "
Thats the bit that makes me think he is dead...why would he need to make it look like he has done a runner if he actually has?

Coronation Street's Gray O'Brien has insisted his character Tony Gordon is not the new Richard Hillman.
Gail Platt's psychotic husband Richard - played by Brian Capron - went on a mad killing spree in a bid to control The Street businesses and his family and even tried to murder the entire Platt family and himself by drowning them in the canal.
But Gray said: "I don't think he's anything like Richard Hillman. Tony's not out to destroy everyone, Tony's out for himself and to look after his own interests, and they are being a successful businessman and marrying the woman he loves. That's his agenda."
He continued: "He doesn't like people saying no or getting in his way, so he moves them aside. His mission is to be hugely successful, retire at an early age with the woman of his dreams. It's very simple for Tony. He won't let people get in his way, and he always thinks everyone can be bought off or silenced."
But the soap star also revealed Tony won't let anyone stop him getting what he wants.
Gray said: "He's said so many times, he didn't get where he is by being a nice guy. He didn't have a silver spoon in his mouth, and he worked for everything he's got. He's not going to let a few people to blow that for him."
He is still a serial killer though

Coronation Street actor Chris Gascoyne returned to tread the Cobbles for another stint as Peter Barlow at the end of October - and this time he had his son Simon (Alex Bain) in tow. Following his wife Lucy's off-screen death, Peter took custody of Simon and returned home to Weatherfield in the hope of starting afresh. His drinking habit has seen his life begin to spiral out of control. Here, Chris chats to DS about his Corrie comeback, his latest storyline and his relationships with Simon and Ken.
What's it like to be back with Corrie full time?
"I've been back for just over three months now and it's flown by. It's pretty much all the same as it was to be honest. I think having experience doing Corrie for the last number of years on and off, you learn different ways to handle your day to make it easy for yourself. At the moment, I'm really enjoying it and it's really good to be back and I'm really enjoying the storyline."
What was it that lured you back?
"I did three years and then left, but when I went, I always said to them that I'd love to go back. I've been really lucky to be able to do that. When they sent me the storyline, I thought it was great. To be honest, they've always written really well for me. I've never had to make any suggestions to them."
Did you have any reservations about the return?
"No, I was really up for it. When you play a character every day, they're always with you anyway. You never lose them! When you look at Ken Cop, who plays Jed, he did it for five years ages ago and he's back again - it's a full circle. I'd always wondered about Peter and where he'd been, what he'd been up to."
And you've come back with a slightly new look, with a beard - was that intentional?
"That was intentional really. He's not been having a great time and he's let himself go a bit. I think when he comes back after Christmas, we'll change him again. I'll probably give him a clean shave and a smart haircut after he comes back from rehab."
Were you pleased when you heard that Peter was going to get the bookies back?
"Yeah, because when I did the last stint, they said that it didn't seem right without Peter in the bookies. Peter's glad to have it back, not least because Leanne works there!"
Peter's slowly been spiraling out of control…
"Yeah, he's been trying against the odds to sort his life out, but he can't. And when it doesn't work and it all goes wrong for him, he has a drink. There are hurdles in his way all the time. He's stubborn and resents people telling him what to do. He'll listen to advice, but he won't take any notice if he thinks the person giving it isn't in a place to do so. That happens a lot with Ken."
Does he love Simon?
"Yeah, but he doesn't know how to show it. As the story carries on, you'll see that Peter has the potential to be a fantastic dad to Simon. At the moment, he naturally loves him, but Peter doesn't feel he's good enough to look after him. Peter just thinks that Simon should be with a family who is equipped to look after him. It's not that Peter wants to get shot of him."
Does Ken have a lot to do with Peter's attitude towards Simon?
"Yeah, that's the root of everything he does. There's a little bit of Peter that's stuck in a child's mindset. He's never really cleared that up."
There's a touching moment at the beginning of Christmas week where Peter realises the havoc he's causing…
"Yeah, it's just after the nativity scenes. I just wanted to die for Peter for what he did. I loved doing those scenes - it's quite a dark humour. It's when Simon recites his nativity lines in the living room, that's what touches Peter. He starts to question how he can be such a bad father, but Simon can still look up to him the way he does. It's a lovely little moment. It's from that moment that he resolves to make amends and decides to go on the wagon."

As you may have already seen, DS is celebrating 'A Year in Soap' with a special set of retrospective features looking back on the last 12 months in soapland.
To tie in with the week, I caught up with the leading producers from Emmerdale, EastEnders and Hollyoaks to see what they thought of their soaps over the last year.
Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I was unable to speak to Corrie's Kim Crowther but I've been promised that we'll be hearing from Weatherfield's leading lady in the New Year.
So, to tide us over, I present to you a number of teasers on what we can expect from the first part of 2009 in Weatherfield.
§ Tyrone and Molly finally patch things up, but according to the Soap Storyline Bible their wedding doesn't go exactly to plan – trouble is rife pre and post nuptials.
§ Peter goes AWOL in the New Year when he returns to Portsmouth to sober up (between me and you, Chris Gascoyne is really doing panto). His return, however, rocks Leanne's world. And not in a good way.
§ Sophie's boyfriend sparks concern for Sally and Kevin. Both Sophie and school swimming team captain Ben make a decision which surprises her unsuspecting parents.
§ Newcomer Luke Strong winds up on the Cobbles in February and quickly puts his mark on Underworld – when he buys Carla's 60% share from under Tony's feet.
§ Tina, meanwhile, is thrown into the middle of a neighbourly feud between the Platts and Windasses. Her court testimony results in one Street resident being banged up.
§ Gail finds herself in yet another testing relationship.
§ Maria struggles to cope with life post-Liam, but help looks to be just around the corner…
§ Tony thinks he's finally gotten away with murder, but Carla finds herself becoming more and more intrigued by her husband's stories. Just how good a liar is Tony? With Alison King (who plays Carla) departing on maternity leave in the New Year, just how will she make her Weatherfield exit?
§ Lloyd embarks on a new relationship with Liz.
§ And finally, Steve's world comes crashing down around him as Becky and Michelle expose his lies.
I couldn't write a Corrie-themed blog at this time of year without mentioning their Christmas episodes. Jed's 'demise' is surprisingly hard-hitting. Some would say that the scene where Tony strangles him is actually quite shocking. As Tony attempts to finish off Jed, the script contains a great line involving sherbet lemons which just about sums Tony up. The subsequent tension created throughout the episode from the moment of strangulation is really effective and a number of 'will Tony's act of violence be discovered?' scenes ensue.
Elsewhere, I was quite surprised not to see Audrey or Ted at the Platts' Christmas dinner this year. Isn't Audrey a staple in the annual Platt festivities? Finally, there's a great Christmassy touch at the end of the episode, courtesy of the CGI department.

Coronation Street's Carla Connor is going to quietly plot revenge on Rosie Webster.
Alison King revealed her character Carla is furious now she knows Rosie (Helen Flanagan) has shown her husband Tony Gordon the mobile phone video of her kissing Liam Connor.
But after thinking she has convinced Tony (Gray O'Brien) it was just a one off kiss, Carla must bide her time before she gets her own back.
Alison revealed: "Carla thinks she's safe and dry although she's pretty mad with Rosie.
"She's still in a bit of trap really because Rosie is still working at the factory, and Carla doesn't want it to appear like there was more going on with Liam. She wants Tony to think that was a one off.
"So she's got to kind of keep it under control, but to Rosie, she won't let it go.
"She's a bit of a ruffian underneath so she'll choose her time with Rosie."
The 35-year-old actress added that Carla still doesn't suspect Tony was behind Liam's murder.
She said: "She has no clue whatsoever. She's just come back from honeymoon and she's all loved up. She's made the decision that she's going to be with Tony for the rest of her life."

CORRIE bad boy David Platt will go off the rails when his girlfriend Tina McIntyre dumps him next year.
Cracks start to appear in their relationship and fed up Tina (Michelle Keegan, 21) sends him packing.
David (Jack P Shepherd, 20) tries his best to win Tina back but she refuses.
A show insider said: “Tina has been such a good influence on David. He’s been almost normal. But being dumped is not going to go down well.”
But it will be good news for Weatherfield’s eligible bachelors as the break-up means that Tina is back on the market.
Our mole added: “David is not going to be happy about that.”

It is the day of Molly (Vicky Binns) and Tyrone’s (Alan Halsall) wedding and everyone is feeling the strain. Molly won’t let Aunty Pam (Kate Anthony) leave her side she’s so nervous but she’s oblivious to Pam’s unease about getting Tyrone roped into her latest scam.
Tyrone meanwhile is not having a good day – first he gets a call from the dove agency to say the doves have befallen a nasty accident and then the harpist gets stuck in traffic. But these hitches seem like minor blips when he turns up for the handover of the dodgy sunglasses – only to find himself face to face with a copper.
Peter (Chris Gascoyne) has invited Leanne (Jane Danson) over to watch a DVD with him and Simon (Alexander Bain), and buys a couple of pizzas and some wine in anticipation of the evening but when Leanne is late he decides to make a start on the wine himself.
Steve (Simon Gregson) is angry with himself and fed up that he has lost Becky (Katherine Kelly) – he suggests to Michelle (Kym Marsh) that they should go to Ireland for a few days prompting his mum to tell him to sort his love life out once and for all.
This episode is written by Jonathan Harvey and produced by Kim Crowther, the director by Alan Wareing.

PI for the rest of the week follows:
Monday 12 January 8.30pm
Tyrone (Alan Halsall) is staring disaster in the face as he finds himself arrested for handling stolen goods. With very little time left to get to the church Jack (William Tarmey) steps in to help and manages to bribe the policeman to let Tyrone go and get married on the proviso that he will go to the police station after the ceremony. Oblivious to the drama that is unfolding across town Molly (Vicky Binns) is in for a surprise of her own when she discovers a horse drawn carriage waiting to take her to the church. She’s thrilled that Tyrone has gone to such lengths to give her a day to remember. And he continues to do just that when she arrives at the church and, overcome by keeping the secret of his arrest from her, he promptly faints at the alter!
Leanne (Jane Danson) talks to Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) and discovers that Peter (Chris Gascoyne) has gone to a great deal of effort to plan a nice evening for the two of them. His thoughtfulness pays off though and it isn’t long before he and Leanne are kissing passionately.
Anna (Debbie Rush) asks Gary (Mikey North) to take down the Christmas lights as she is sick of the earache she is getting off Gail (Helen Worth). Tina (Michelle Keegan) is not best pleased when Gary arrives at the house and asks if he can get into the bedrooms to dismantle the lights. But it isn’t long before he starts to charm her and persuades her to make hi a cup of tea – against her better judgement Tina finds herself warming to him.
Liz (Beverly Callard) tells Steve (Simon Gregson) that if he loves Becky (Jetherine Kelly) he should finish with Michelle (Kym Marsh) as she deserves better – meanwhile Becky tells a persistent Jason (Ryan Thomas) that she always finds herself second best and that Sarah will always be his number one.
This episode is written by Jonathan Harvey and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Alan Wareing.

As Molly (Vicky Binns) and Tyrone (Alan Halsall) prepare for the wedding photographs, Tyrone is building himself up to confess about his arrest, expecting the police to turn up any second. Sensing that Molly smells a rat about the real reason Tyrone was late Jack (William Tarmey) dives in to divert attention. Pam (Kate Anthony) demands to know what is going on and when Jack and Kirk (Andrew Whyment) fill her in on Tyrone’s arrest she is immediately suspicious and explains that the copper may not be all that he seemed!
A relieved Tyrone heads for the reception with his new bride – delighted that he isn’t facing a prison cell on his wedding night. The reception goes without a hitch and they are presented with a honeymoon in Paris by Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Sally (Sally Whiattaker). But just when everything starts to go to plan Jackie Dobbs (Margi Clarke) turns up – is she really here to wish the young couple well or does she have something else planned?
JD (Paul Michael Gough) arrives at the Rovers and asks Michelle (Kym Marsh) if she’d like to go on tour with the band again. Michelle says that she can’t but is surprised when Steve (Simon Gregson) insists it is fine and she must go. JD is delighted to have his lead singer back but he’s stunned when Steve explains that his relationship with Michelle is on the rocks and asks him to do him a big favour.
David (Jack P Shepherd) arrives home to find Gary (Mikey North) drinking tea in the kitchen with Tina (Michelle Keegan). He is furious with her for siding with the enemy and it’s obvious that Gary enjoys David’s discomfort.
Elsewhere Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) confesses to Julie (Katie Cavanagh) that John has been writing to her from prison and deep down she still loves him.

It’s the day of reckoning for Steve (Simon Gregson) and Becky (Katherine Kelly). JD (Paul Michael Gough) takes Michelle (Kym Marsh) for lunch and she is surprised when he moves in for a kiss. She pushes him away, shocked, and JD explains how Steve had told him that their relationship is over and actively encouraged him to make a move on her. A furious Michelle heads back to the pub and demands some answers from Steve who finally tells her that he doesn’t love her anymore – omitting to tell her that he has fallen in love with Becky (Katherine Kelly). But later during a heated row with Steve over Liz (Beverly Callard), Lloyd (Craig Charles) gets sick of Steve’s double standards and blurts out the whole sordid story to Michelle – how will she react?
Molly (Vicky Binns) and Tyrone (Alan Halsall) are on cloud nine as they unwrap their wedding presents but are concerned when they can’t find the tickets for the honeymoon from Kevin and Sally. It doesn’t take long for Tyrone to work out that his low-life mother Jackie has stolen the rail tickets and done a runner .
Tina (Michelle Keegan) is devastated when she discovers that her dad has been living in his lock up – she demands to know the truth about his financial situation.
Becky is stunned to discover that not only has Steve dumped Michelle but Jason (Ryan Thomas) has started divorce proceedings from Sarah – from being everyone’s second choice she seems to have jumped up the charts to number one finally.

Michelle (Kym Marsh) is stunned as she takes in this latest bombshell from Lloyd (Craig Charles). Steve (Simon Gregson) tries to deny everything but Blanche (Maggie Jones) decides the time has come for her to corroborate Lloyd’s story. Michelle listens incredulous as Blanche explains that Steve confessed to a packed courtroom that he was having an affair with Becky. As Michelle packs her bags Steve tries to explain but realises that nothing he can say or do will make this situation any better for Michelle.
Upset at having hurt Michelle but delighted that he can finally be with the woman that he loves Steve heads out to find Becky (Katherine Kelly) - but it seems he might have left things a bit late and Becky has already got over him and moved on.
Joe (Reece Dinsdale) admits to Tina (Michelle Keegan) that he is in a financial mess and Tina is worried about what her dad is going to do about finding somewhere to live. Joe insists he will sort himself out and manages to manipulate an oblivious Gail (Helen Worth) into asking him to move into No 8 with her.
Tyrone (Alan Halsall) is still struggling to come to terms with the fact that his mum stole his and Molly’s (Vicky Binns) honeymoon. Pam (Kate Anthony) is upset for them and comes to the rescue with an alternative holiday.
Elsewhere Bill (Peter Armitage) and Joe (Reece Dinsdale) are playing darts when Eddie (Steve Huison) approaches them and shows them his darts medals – Bill suggests they form a darts team.

Nah tommorow's part of the storyline is under wraps
It’s the day of John’s court case and Fiz (Jennie Mcalpine) has decided she wants to support him. Kirk (Andrew Whyment) and Julie (Katie Cavanagh) are horrified that that she wants anything to do with him but Fiz is determined to go. At court John (Graeme Hawley) is touched to see that she has turned up and in a heartfelt submission he tells the judge that he deeply regrets abducting Rosie and hurting Fiz. As the judge prepares to pass sentence Fiz waits anxiously to see how long John will go down for.
Becky (Katherine Kelly) assures Jason (Ryan Thomas) that it is him she wants to be with and that she and Steve (Simon Gregson) are history. Meanwhile a bitter and angry Michelle (Kym Marsh) packs her bags and moves out of the Rovers and into Maria’s. In the street she bumps into Becky and Jason and can’t resist letting rip at the woman she considered a friend.
Gary (Mikey North) continues to wind David (Jack P Shepherd) up by flirting with Tina (Michelle Keegan) and when Gary makes some comment about a consignment of copper piping that Joe (Reece Dinsdale) and Bill (Peter Armitage) are unloading Joe sees red and warns him to stay away from Tina. But it seems Gary might be more interested in the copper piping than Joe’s daughter. Meanwhile Tina is not sure that Joe’s move to number eight is such a good idea.
Maria (Samia Smith) is back from her trip and she is confronted by Tony (Gray O’Brien) who wants to know if she is feeling any ‘better’.
Elsewhere Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is less than impressed when Tara (Ayesha Dharker) gives Amber (Nikki Patel) a car as a belated birthday present.
This episode is written by Peter Whalley and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Pip Short.

Monday 19 January 8.30pm
Audrey (Sue Nicholls) discovers that Joe (Reece Dinsdale) is working as a labourer for Bill (Peter Armitage)and decides that Gail (Helen Worth) ought to know. Gail is concerned and questions Joe about what has happened to his kitchen fitting business but she is stunned when Joe goes ballistic and accuses her of interfering - this is a side of Joe she has not really seen before.
Meanwhile Gary Windass (Mikey North) has taken no notice of Joe’s warning and continues to try and woo Tina (Michelle Keegan) whilst at the same time planning to rob the builders’ yard with his Uncle Len (Connor Ryan). A suspicious David (Jack P Shepherd) watches them drive away from the yard convinced they have been up to something.
Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) tells Julie (Katie Cavanagh) and Kirk (Andrew Whyment) about John’s sentence and a concerned Julie warns Fiz that if she visits John in prison he will expect her to be there waiting for him when he comes out. Meanwhile the Websters are thrilled that John has been sent down and celebrate in the Rovers.
With Michelle visiting her parents in Ireland a desperate Steve (Simon Gregson) begs Becky (Katherine Kelly) to give him another chance but she insists that she is happy with Jason (Ryan Thomas).

Wednesday 21 January 7.30pm
Bill (Peter Armitage) and Jason (Ryan Thomas) arrive at the yard to discover that the copper pipe has been nicked. Aware of Joe’s money problems Jason (Ryan Thomas) immediately wonders if he was responsible for the theft. Gail meanwhile is worried as Joe (Reece Dinsdale) has not been home since their row, Tina finds him at his lock-up and tells him to sort himself out. Joe heads back for work where he finds out about the burglary and when Gary (Mikey North) suggests he might be the thief Joe pins him against the wall and has to be pulled away by a shocked Bill and Jason.
At the Windasses, Eddie (Steve Huison) is convinced that Gary and Len (Connor Ryan) had something to do with the robbery and he urges Gary to do something with his life rather than following a life of crime. Gary wastes no tie in pointing out that he hasn’t had the best of role models in his dad. But Eddie still covers for his son when David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) arrives and accuses him of robbing the pipe.
Maria (Samia Smith) starts back at work at the salon and finds out from Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) about Jed’s sudden disappearance. Maria is immediately suspicious and can’t help wondering if Tony (Gray O’Brien) is behind it.

The episode is written by David Bowker and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Pip Short. .

Friday 23 January 7.30pm
Maria (Samia Smith) is determined to get to the bottom of Jed Stone’s mysterious disappearance and decides to confront Tony (Gray O’Brien). Alone in the factory she accuses him of murdering Jed and is stunned when he confesses that he strangled him with a negligee and put his body in one of the hampers. As Maria stares at him in horror he describes how the Underworld staff partied around the hamper unaware that Jed’s body lay inside it.
Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Sally (Sally Whittaker) are shocked when they open the morning paper to find a salacious article complete with saucy photographs of Rosie (Helen Flanagan) detailing her ‘ordeal’ at the hands of John Stape. Ashamed that Rosie saw fit to cash in on her ordeal, Kevin and Sally are left reeling when they discover a home pregnancy testing kit in the bin. When Rosie insists it isn’t hers they are left with only one other explanation – one too awful to contemplate.
Ken Barlow (William Roache) is another anxious and disappointed parent as he tells Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) that he has heard from Adam who told him that Peter is back on the booze in Portsmouth.
Gail (Helen Worth) is worried sick about Joe (Reece Dinsdale) and confides in Tina who finds him once more at his lock-up. She tells him he is being unfair on Gail and begs him to come home – will Joe listen?
Elsewhere Eddie (Steve Huison) gets some more players to hand over 20 quid to sign up to the darts team.
This episode is written by Julie Jones and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Pip Short.

Friday 23 January 8.30pm
A terrified Maria (Samia Smith) races out of the factory closely followed by Tony (Gray O’Brien). Hysterical she tells Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) that Tony has confessed to Jed’s murder but it is clear that no one believes her. She implores Fiz to believe her but Fiz is deeply worried about her friend’s state of mind. Tony meanwhile continues to play to innocent yet concerned victim and tells Carla that rather than get an injunction out against Maria he thinks she needs medical help. Later after gathering ‘evidence’ Maria turns up in the pub in her nightie and accuses Tony of killing Liam and Jed – prompting everyone to think she has finally lost her marbles.
Sally (Sally Whittaker) and Kevin (Michael Le Vell) are shocked to the core when Sophie (Brooke Vincent) tells them that it was her pregnancy test and what’s more it was positive. As they struggle to come to terms with the news Sophie breaks down and confesses the real truth behind her behaviour leaving Kevin and Sally with the feeling that they have failed as parents.
Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) is disgusted with her husband when he tells her that he has been mugged and all the darts team money was stolen – she knows it is just another of his scams.

He'll never get away with that! I wonder where he hides the body.
Scarlett.

I heard he stays dead, although I heard he isnt actually dead and Tony lets him go (not really Tony's style to leave a loose end though)

Ah it's a fukced up situation!

yay!

24-12-2008, 01:25 PM
The last time that happened was when Karen McDonald left wasn't it?
I can't wait to see Emily, Norris and Wiki's Polish themed Christmas! Won't they be missing Jed though? Or will he be back by then?
Scarlett.
24-12-2008, 01:27 PM
Aye that was the last time, also that Christmas, the band outside the Rovers played the Corrie theme tune O_O
Tony sneaks into the house to get Jed's clothes to make it look like he has done a runner
Ellis
24-12-2008, 01:29 PM
Ah, Norris will be happy anyway. :spin:
I actually find Jed quite annoying personally. I wonder how Maria comes to punch Tony Gordon.
Scarlett.

Lol she is a mad head, so it wont take much :spin2:
lol Jed is quite annoying
Ellis
24-12-2008, 01:34 PM
I actually want Tony Gordon to get away with the whole lot tbh, I have no idea why. I'm not condoning murder, honest! I just feel sympathetic towards him for some reason. Have you got any idea how the whole story line resolves itself? Does he get away with it?
Scarlett.
24-12-2008, 01:35 PM
Aye same, I mean, Liam seemed a nastier bloke than Tony (although tonight might change my mind about him)
I have no idea how it will all end
Ellis
24-12-2008, 01:38 PM
I know! My memories of Liam are of his smugness and complete over-confidence. I despised that whole "Connor-clan"nonsense as well; it was all very primitive. :yuk:
We'll just have to wait and see how Tony Gordon comes accross now in tonight's episode!
Scarlett.
24-12-2008, 01:41 PM
Aye
I just thought, Liam was involved in two deaths; Dean's and Kaisa's so he aint no innocent himself
Ellis
24-12-2008, 01:48 PM
We've got rid of two of the Connor siblings, now please can we get rid of Michelle and her gourmless son in this murder storyline!? Maybe Michelle could find out about Tony killing Liam and then he can do her in along with the rest. Corrie'll be back on track then and we'll be able to wave "bye, bye" to the Dark Ages of Steve Frost. However I don't see that happening anytime soon; hasn't Kym Marsh/Ryder (or whatever she's calling herself these days) just signed up for another year?
Scarlett.
24-12-2008, 01:51 PM
She is preggers
I think the following people are on Tony's list
Kevin
Maria
I wonder what happened to his wife
Ellis
24-12-2008, 01:54 PM
Eh? You'll have to explain that one to me!
Who's pregnant? And whose wife are you talking about?
Sorry if I'm missing something here. :blush2:
Scarlett.
24-12-2008, 01:57 PM
Kym Marydersh (xD)
and Tony's wife...we never heard from her again....

Acting veteran Kenneth Cope is catapulted to the centre of Coronation Street's Christmas episodes as his Weatherfield character Jed Stone falls foul of evil businessman Tony Gordon (Gray O'Brien). Realising that there's more to Mr Gordon than meets the eye, Jed attempts to blackmail him out of a substantial amount of money in return for his silence. Tony, however, isn't prepared to let a pensioner get the better of him and takes drastic steps to eradicate Jed from the Cobbles. Here, Kenneth chats to DS about his return to Corrie, his shocking Christmas plot and his screen cat.
You returned to Corrie for a brief stint earlier this year - did you expect that they'd ask you back again?
"It was June West, the casting director's idea to bring me back. They originally had a character called Mr. Gamble who Tony Gordon was going to persecute and throw out of his house to build a load of flats. June had the brilliant idea of bringing Jed back, so that's how it happened. I came back for four episodes and they originally said they'd see what happens. But then they said that they were going to have me back and Tony was going to murder me!"
Did you jump at the chance?
"I'm not a conceding man, but I thought they'd be silly to lose such a valuable character. I thought I was coming back to inject some humour into the show, but I'm just a drunken blackmailer at the moment!"
Has much changed since you were in the show all those years ago?
"It's the same really. They're all lovely people. Emily, played by Eileen Derbyshire, is a very, very old friend. We've been friends for ages. I really do think she should receive a damehood. She's done so much for television. I've got to know everyone else there, too... [They're] lovely and warm to work with."
And Jed's slowly started to unravel Tony's web of lies, isn't he?
"He realises that Maria's onto Tony, too, so he joins forces with her. I think Maria's adorable - Samia [Smith] is a lovely actress… I think because of what Tony's done to Jed and what he's done to Maria in killing her husband, those two poor desperate characters would cling together. I can just see Jed in the house helping Maria with the baby. It'd split the public, that's for sure!"
Jed's out for revenge and turns to blackmail, doesn't he?
"Yeah, starts demanding more money from Tony and Tony becomes more and more furious with him. On Christmas Eve, Jed goes to the factory and asks for a load more cash to buy his silence, but Tony eventually loses it and strangles him! Tony ends up sticking Jed in a food hamper in the factory. All the girls at the factory are about to have their Christmas party, but poor Jed's stuck in the hamper while everyone's pouring drinks. After the festivities, Tony drags Jed to his van and drives his body away somewhere. Being in that bloody hamper with a cloth and drinks on top - it was claustrophobic! We rehearsed the scene and when they started talking about it, I was still in the hamper - it was dark as hell in there!"
What's it been like working with Gray O'Brien?
"He's brilliant. I love him to death. He's so easy to work with. He really is excellent and when I look back over the people I've worked with over the years, you just feel solid with Gray. He's a very good guy."
Where has Jed's cat Sonny Jim gone?
"It's quite funny actually. When I did the four episodes earlier in the year, Jed had a heart attack and I had to fall down seven times to get the scene right! Anyway, they put the cat into the scene when I was lying 'unconscious' on the floor and would you believe that the cat put its paw on my cheek. I bonded with that cat during filming. It was amazing - the cat should be a member of Equity!"
Sounds like Jedi is deaded then, since he goes to dump the body

Me too, he is such a good character that I don't want him to be found out. I want him to put Maria in a mental hospital in 2009 lol that would be a great story.

Spike
24-12-2008, 03:55 PM
Not Kevin! He can't leave the show. He is like one of those characters who stays forever. But then again I suppose there are no other story lines left for him
Scarlett.
24-12-2008, 03:57 PM
I might be wrong, but it seems to have been building up since Tony arrived
I also think Tony's ex wife will make a reappearance or she is already dead, since she strangely went quiet
Spike

Sounds a good year for the storys around Tony then.

The 39-year-old - who shot to fame as hapless Pete in ITV series – popped up in Corrie earlier this month as down-on-his-luck children’s entertainer Jesse.
And now he’s said he’ll definitely be back for more fun on the Street.
He explained: “They've asked me to do six months, but I've also got to fit in more episodes of Kingdom with Stephen Fry.”
John will also star as a clown with anger management issues in new circus-themed sitcom, Big Top, with Amanda Holden.

Tonight confirmed it
They didn't kill Jed off though did they? He bribed him to keep quiet I thought.
Carla won't be happy with Maria in tonight's episode!

Ooh! I missed that bit, I should have been paying more attention.
This is getting interesting. It reminds me of Richard Hillman. Gosh, I never thought Tony Gordon was a cold blooded murderer!
Scarlett.
26-12-2008, 05:36 PM
Lol, it was more chilling as Tony seemed a nice bloke to Jed all day

Aye...only thing is....Tony tells Maria about Jed next month
Ellis
26-12-2008, 05:42 PM
Well that's a bit stupid. She'll go straight to the Police!
Scarlett.
26-12-2008, 05:44 PM
Aye....then again...if Tony didnt actually kill Jed.....
this is getting confusing lol
Im sure he is dead as Tony was cleaning out the van, and the santa hat was on the chair in the van...
Ellis
26-12-2008, 05:48 PM
Tbh, I'm not sure that he did kill him. Maybe he just cleaned it so there'd be none of Jed's DNA in the van in case he were to go to the police.
Then he might tell Maria next month so that she goes to the police, the police investigate, find out that it's all crap and then she'll be seen as even more of a raving lunatic, emphasising Tony's "innocence" in the process.
Scarlett.
26-12-2008, 05:50 PM
Aye....but the scenes seemed too sinister, the last we saw of Jed was Tony closing the van door on him leaving it in darkness....
Ellis
26-12-2008, 05:52 PM
You've got a point. I mean he can't have housed him that quickly. Hmm, it's all very mysterious. We'll just have to find out what happens now tonight. He's covered his tracks very well by taking Jed's clothes. As far as Emily and Norris are concerned, he's just flown off somewhere.
Scarlett.
26-12-2008, 05:54 PM
Aye, and Tony really isnt the type to leave loose ends or give people stuff for nothing
Ellis
26-12-2008, 05:56 PM
Nowhere gives it away do they? Not even Corrie blog? You've normally got all the info by now haven't you?
Scarlett.

No one knows
Well, apart from the writers, Kenneth Cope and Gray O'Brien that is

Lol
Maybe Tony has Jed tied up somewhere
Scarlett.
26-12-2008, 06:42 PM

If Tony is ever found out then I think Jed will play a big role in it

I'll be watching it on ITV 2 later. Can't wait!
Scarlett.

I am no longer a Corrie know-it-all

KILLER Tony Gordon goes on a booze bender when wife Carla finally admits she will never love him as much as Liam Connor.
After confessing all about her fling with Liam and how no man will ever measure up to him, Carla packs her bags and walks out.
And she even refuses to tell Tony – played by Gray O’Brien, 40 – where she is going or whether she will ever return.
Tony was behind the hit-and-run killing of Liam (Rob James-Collier, 31) and is devastated when the plan to rid himself of his love rival and have Carla all to himself spectacularly backfires.
He now realises that he may never see her again.
After drowning his sorrows in whisky in the Rovers, drunken Tony tells anyone who will listen: “How can I compete with a corpse? Liam’s like James Dean and Kurt Cobain.
“If you want a woman’s love you’ve obviously got to die young while you’re still idolised”
Then, sarcastically raising his glass to Liam, Tony says: “Blessed be the name of Liam – the love of my wife’s life.”
But after days locked away in a booze-drenched depression, Tony comes out fighting.
Marching into the office they once shared and referring to Carla’s desk and belongings, Tony barks: “Box up all that junk and bin everything in this place to do with Carla.”
Carla’s disappearing trick will explain the absence of actress Alison King, 35, who quits in January to start her maternity leave.
Talking of her plans for a booze-free Christmas, Alison laughed: “I’ll be with my boyfriend Adam and his mum in London, rather than just outside Manchester, where we have moved into a new house.
“I give Adam a stocking with money and a tangerine in the bottom and I have to have one too. If I wake up and there’s not a heavy stocking on my foot I get the right hump!
“I’ll miss my usual tipple of Jack Daniel’s at Christmas. I’ll treat myself to one glass of mulled wine but after that it will be orange juice all the way!”

CORRIE battleaxe Blanche Hunt has been saved after a plan to give her the chop.
Producers were writing a storyline which would see the shrew’s exit through illness.
But after a top-level meeting, it was felt the character still had “a lot to give”. Viewers will see Deirdre Barlow’s mum, played by Maggie Jones, 74, feel faint around New Year.

An insider on the ITV1 soap said: “It has been seriously considered and discussed at our latest forward planning meeting that the character of Blanche should be killed off. But we appreciate she’s a great old, grumpy character and the chemistry between Blanche the Barlow clan and the other street regulars is superb so we felt we had to keep her.”
The character was first played by Patricia Cutts in the summer of 1974 — but the actress committed suicide after two episodes. Maggie stepped in to replace her for four years. She briefly returned in 1981 and 1996 before becoming a Weatherfield regular again in 1998.
Maggie lives in London but stays in a luxury hotel near the Manchester studios while filming.
She recently suffered a fall and was off work for several weeks with knee problems — forcing a hurried re-write.

Yeah thats him. See he killed Liam cos he found out that Liam and his gf Carla were gettin it on. Then to get property deal or something he drove Jed this old guy out of his house. A couple of monthes later Jed comes back to live with Emily, and starts blackmailing Tony out of money by saying he'll tell everyone what Tony did to him.
Meanwhile, Maria, Liam's widdow, figures out that Tony killed Liam, but everyone just thinks she's nuts.
it's very good these days.

I'm so glad they decided against that! The Street just wouldn't be the same without her. I've laughed at her so much recently. She seems to have been hell-bent on tormenting Deirdre lately, especially before that Lords trip. I love the Barlows at the moment!
Scarlett.

And finally, Jackie Dobbs (Margi Clarke) manages to spoil Molly's (Vicky Binns) hen do when she arrives at Dev's flat expecting to join in the antics. Molly relents and lets her stay, but she soon regrets her decision when she persuades Graeme (Craig Gazey) to strip for them. During his Full Monty routine, everything falls to pieces when Graeme manages to smash a vase and Auntie Pam (Kate Anthony) restrains Jackie and throws her out.
Hopefully Molly's wedding day will go ahead without a hitch? As if.
