Overall now I've watched both episodes were terrible tonight from both the acting and the writing. I really don't want it to be and I really hope Kim Crowther can turn it around. Whether you love it or not you have to admit Corrie isn't on good form atm.

Coronation Street fans could enjoy a drink in the Rovers Return if reported plans to bring the iconic pub to the high street come off.

ITV is apparently looking to exploit the popular brand with themed look-alike venues.


Corrie could also become a sponsorship vehicle if a business partner owned its own brewery, and they could even be allowed to promote their beer, according to The Times.

The paper estimates that with its five weekly episodes attracting up to 11 million viewers and its 10 per cent share of all ITV viewing, the soap could strike a deal worth £1 million a year on product placement alone.

"We are absolutely looking to exploit all our brands in a far more commercial and efficient way," ITV's managing director Dawn Airey told the newspaper.

"A huge amount of value lies in big ITV brands like Coronation Street and finding more creative and imaginative ways of exploiting those brands."

Tina O'Brien is reportedly considering returning to Coronation Street just three months after leaving the soap.

The actress bowed out last December, when her character Sarah Platt was seen leaving Weatherfield for a new life in Italy.

She later said she was hoping to be offered a part in a "meaty drama" after her departure.

However, she struggled to find work following her appearance in a Christmas panto with Johnny Briggs and is now open to the possibility of returning to the ITV1 soap.

She told New: "I'd even consider doing Celebrity Big Brother - I really love that show."

Producers are believed to have said she can make a "gradual return" if her career has not improved by the end of the year.

The 24-year-old added: "It's good to spread your wings but I am so glad I wasn't killed off!"

O'Brien has been dating Coronation Street co-star Ryan Thomas since 2004.

Tonight's episode was good. Vernon is rapidly becoming one of my favourite characters, his become hilarious lately.

I think the police should recruit Audrey or something because she'd make a great detective. She saw through Richard when no one else did and she guessed that David pushed her down the stairs after one episode!

I'm not surprised.

Corrie hasn't been that great over the past year. The fiasco that was the Claire/Casey storyline was badly written and drawn out. The Mortons have been there for a year now but still haven't had a decent storyline. The Michelle/Alex/Ryan story is also a bit far-fetched and dragged out. Why hasn't Michelle/Alex's parents talked about suing the hospital or sought legal advice over custody and access rights? There is also a lot of pointless and annoying characters like Lloyd, Dev, Norris and Vernon to name but a few.

There pics on the Sun website of David in jail. After gail decides not to press charges David goes smashing windows on the street. Eventually he ends up spending 7 monthes in a detention centre. We do get to see his time in there tho which should be interesting!

Corrie star dumped over screen kisses?

Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan has reportedly been dumped by Hollyoaks actor Anthony Quinlan.

Quinlan (Gilly Roach) is said to have called time on the romance because of Keegan's kisses with co-star Jack P Shepherd (David Platt) on the soap.

Shepherd recently split from long-term girlfriend Lauren Sheppey, 19, and rumours are now rife that his on-screen chemistry with Keegan (Tina McIntyre) has spilled over into real life.

A source told The Mirror: "Everyone had noticed the chemistry between Jack and Michelle on set. They've become really close recently, but they aren't diving into anything too serious just yet.

"They have been out to Relish and a few pubs around Manchester, but they have been careful not to be photographed together and want to keep it low-key. Lauren's barely moved her stuff out of her house with Jack and he doesn't want to hurt her."

Shepherd previously admitted that Lauren had hated watching him kiss Keegan on the ITV1 show.

The split is the latest in a rash of break-ups among the Coronation Street cast. Kym Ryder (Michelle Connor) last week announced her separation from husband Jack, while the newspaper reports that Ryan Thomas (Jason Grimshaw) and Tina O'Brien (Sarah Platt) have also ended their relationship.

Veteran actor Michael Byrne has signed up to play Gail Platt's long-lost father in Coronation Street.

In scenes to be broadcast this summer, Byrne's character Ted Paige will shock Gail (Helen Worth) and his former partner Audrey (Sue Nicholls) when he pays a surprise visit to Weatherfield and announces that he is gay.

The summer episodes will reveal that Audrey dumped Ted after she discovered she was pregnant with Gail at the age of 18.

A source told The Sun: "Audrey wanted to settle down with someone so she could claim back son Stephen who she had when she was 16. But the man she fancied wasn't interested so Audrey went for his best friend, Ted.

"When she discovered she was pregnant by Ted, she fled as she knew he would propose - and she couldn't spend the rest of her life with him."
