Greece added to Scotland's quarantine list as cases rise...
Travellers arriving in Scotland from Greece will have to quarantine for two weeks following a "significant" spike in coronavirus cases.
The rule will come into force from 4am on Thursday due to apparent new evidence that COVID-19 is being imported.
In Wales, people coming back from Zante will be asked to self-isolate for two weeks, after seven infections were discovered on a flight from the popular Greek island that landed in Cardiff on 25 August.
The request is not mandatory, but the Welsh first minister wants a meeting with political leaders in the other UK nations to agree to add Greece to all their separate quarantine lists.

It's fine to be pathologically predisposed to vote for, and enjoy the tory cruelty, but dressing it up as care to make yourselves feel better is a little weird.
When tories care:
https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/dwp-boss-refuses-sympathy-mum-18864373
Work and Pensions Secretary Thérèse Coffey repeatedly refused to express sympathy for a tragic mum who was found dead next to her crying baby.
Dr Coffey, who was born in Billinge but grew up in Liverpool, was repeatedly given the chance to show some compassion for 34-year-old Mercy Baguma - a refugee mother who died next to her malnourished baby in Glasgow - but she would not.
Ms Baguma, from Uganda, was found dead by police after they heard her son's crying from outside her flat earlier this month.
She was reported to have been living in extreme poverty before her death and had contacted charities saying she did not have enough money to support herself.
It is thought that she lost her job after her right to work in the UK expired.
Asked about the situation on Sky today, Dr Coffey seemed unwilling to show any sympathy or sadness about the desperate situation.
Host Kay Burley said 'I know you to be a compassionate woman', before asking her about Ms Baguma's case.
Dr Coffey said: "I think I know the situation and its a lady with immigration status that may have changed. This really is a matter for the Home Office to decide. I'm concious that people can also apply for changes to their status with the Home Office, if they are struggling with aspects of that."
Asked again to show some compassion for a woman who starved to death next to her baby, Dr Coffey again refused, stating: "I don't know the ins and outs, I know it happened in Glasgow fairly recently - but really the Home Office is the place that decides on this."
Given yet another chance to show some humanity, Ms Burley asked 'what sort of society are we when a woman can starve to death next to her child?'
"What I'm trying to say Kay is that when people are in very difficult situations and are looking to the government for help, there are ways they can access that help."
After a final attempt to draw some compassion from the Minister, the Sky host eventually gave up.
Viewers were shocked at the cold-hearted responses to such a tragic story.
On twitter Stuart said: "Wow. Multiple opportunities to even just acknowledge the sadness of a human starving to death in this country and that seemed to be beyond her. Appalling."

Their cases were decreasing but Bolton has had a 200% increase in the last week. Wigan was released over a week ago and have maintained low levels of cases....Stockport has dropped significantly and still reducing so released today.
The main problem is most people live in one borough but travel through others to get to work so seems ridiculous to release some but not all and think that its reasonable. Needs to be all in or all out imho

There'll be excuses made for him no doubt.
He's absolutely a disgrace as a Minister.
Absolutely sickening.
Have you seen him murdering Queens Don't Stop Me Now on YouTube.
Piers Morgan played it on breakfast TV with that other waste of political space, the heartless Therese Coffey.
Honestly, ambushed or not, I couldn't care, his views on Abbott were relevant, being a Minister in government..
It's possible the NHS could have involvement in trade talks, particularly with the USA.
So his views on anyone being part of trade planning or negotiations are perfectly relevant.
Abbott wasn't that good an Australian PM anyway..
For his deceit and the unnecessary losses of lives to this virus however, Hancock should have been OUT months ago.

His 'mate' filming and commentating was just as annoying as the bloke resisting. UK Police should allowed be us more force for situations like this imo.

04-09-2020, 08:31 AM
What was his reasons for not wearing a mask.
He for sure had plenty breath in him, and strength.
Could easily make his loud mouth work for him.
I'm not sure about the manhandling of him.
I guess this officer was calling for back up, he should have been.
What is really worrying and unnecessary is that there are individuals who would inconvenience others, endanger themselves and others as to this virus, just to make a point they have no intention of obeying instructions of wearing a facecoverings in any inside setting.
This exempt statement, really needs to be looked at and if anyone can be really exempt from wearing ANY kind of facecovering.
Then they need to have to have an exemption document, OFFICIALLY stamped and authorised by Doctor or Hospital.
Far better to wear a facecovering for a few minutes to an hour or so.
Than have to have or risk forcing others to have, a ventilator down your throat.
All for a simple facecovering for a time.
I wonder did the upstart filming this have a facecovering on either, he sounded another loudmouth.
Both just possibly out to cause a scene and bother.

This is the problem any police have.
There were others on that train fully complying with the rule of wearing facecoverings.
The police cannot be seen to NOT be doing something about it when someone is breaking the rules.
The point really is, this objectionable character should have got off the train or place a facecovering on his face.
It's not the policing fault.
It's morons like that individual and his equally obejctonable mate filming.
This exemption claim, has to be made a more binding than just saying issue.
If anyone HAS to be exempt, which I personally doubt, who is ABLE to be indoors with others.
Then some official document, medically backed and authorised needs to be shown.
No document then too no facecovering, then off or out they should be made to go.
For the protection of all others around them.
However, I don't know from the clip if he intended to, whatever, this officer should have called for further back up.
I agree wholly with you there.
Had he done so, this character and his mate may have then left the train.
the policeman should have tasered him and then waited for backup
Silvio Berlusconi's political party Forza Italia insists he's been taken to the San Raffaele hospital in Milan as a precaution after testing positive for coronavirus.
The former Italian prime minister has released a video saying he feels fine.
But he is 83, and reportedly in the early stages of double pneumonia. That's not necessarily any worse than pneumonia in one lung but it is a recognised symptom of Covid-19, which was originally called novel coronavirus-infected pneumonia.
His 30-year-old girlfriend, the Italian MP Marta Fascina, and two of his children have also tested positive.

Passenger leaves note calling flight attendant a ‘Nazi’ and ‘glorified maid’ after being asked to wear mask...
A passenger reportedly left an offensive note for a flight attendant after being asked to wear their mask over their nose.
Handwritten on an inflight sick bag, the note calls the member of American Airlines cabin crew a “mask nazi” and a “glorified maid”.
A photo of the note was shared on social media by Twitter user @hibiscuslacroix, who captioned the picture: “Today a passenger handed this to a flight attendant upon deplaning.
“The flight attendant had asked her to wear her mask over her nose. Incredibly done with the general public.”
The woman’s note read: “Nobody cares about your stupid seat policies or your nose issues. We pay your salary and your attitude is unnecessary.
“The very fact that we have to listen and kowtow to a nobody who does s*** except collect our trash and serve crappy food makes me absolutely ill.”
The passenger added: “If it wasn’t for this job, you would be cleaning motel rooms for $2 tips and meth.
“I made sure to write this on a bag labelled as to what I think your life actually is… A WASTE.”
The Independent has contacted American Airlines for comment; the airline said it was “looking into” the matter.
The shocking incident follows several cases of travellers being removed from flights, trains, and other modes of transport for refusing to wear a mask.

...well that’s because testing centres have been closed down which has created the travel problem ...when attention to testing is surely one of the most important things and the reason that some of other countries have had such successes in controlling and containing...our government really do make it very difficult to contain and yet they want ‘normality’ as soon as possible...
...the more that industry/businesses and schools etc, return and adapt...the more that test, test, test is needed....

More than 1,000 UK doctors want to quit NHS over handling of pandemic...
Over 1,000 doctors plan to quit the NHS because they are disillusioned with the government’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic and frustrated about their pay, a new survey has found.
The doctors either intend to move abroad, take a career break, switch to private hospitals or resign to work as locums instead, amid growing concern about mental health and stress levels in the profession.
“NHS doctors have come out of this pandemic battered, bruised and burned out”, said Dr Samantha Batt-Rawden, president of the Doctors’ Association UK, which undertook the research. The large number of medics who say they will leave the NHS within three years is “a shocking indictment of the government’s failure to value our nation’s doctors,” she added. “These are dedicated professionals who have put their lives on the line time and time again to keep patients in the NHS safe, and we could be about to lose them.”
In all, 1,758 doctors across the UK responded when DAUK undertook an online survey among its members. It asked: “Has the pandemic and the government’s treatment of frontline doctors during the pandemic impacted your decision to stay or leave the NHS?”. Almost seven in ten – 1,214 (69%) – said that it had made them more likely to leave the health service, while 26% said that it had not.
When asked “where do you see yourself working in the next one to three years?”, almost two-thirds of doctors – 1,143 (65%) – said they would be leaving the NHS. That finding has prompted renewed concern about NHS understaffing, as the service in England already has vacancies for 8,278 doctors, according to the most recent official figures.

Not just Doctors.
Nursing staff too from what I've learned from those I know, still just hanging on working in care, who are still reeling from the anxieties of their own health with the lack of protection equipment by the government.
This doesn't surprise me at all.
For me, for one anyhow, the PM and those Ministers clapping for the Health service workers, was it seems more just show than true respect, thanks and admiration for their efforts.
Lip service only as usual to those vital to save lives from Johnson and co.

Panic attacks are helped by breathing into a paper bag covering the mouth.
So how a mask is going to bring one about is then suspect to me.
I'd expect a panic attack more if he had to have a ventilator down his throat.
Frankly his attitude in this clip, leaves me thinking he could cause panic attacks in others actually.
If he had a diagnosed medical condition which stated any facecovering, not just a mask, would be bad and wrong for him.
Then fine, make documentation available to be carried by him to prove such.
Otherwise, really anyone can say anything to avoid facecoverings.

There are countless excuses people could and do use, that's true. That said I'm not comfortable with the authorities actively enforcing the use of masks either - certainly not with aggressive tactics. We don't need 100% mask usage for it to be very effective, so long as voluntary use is relatively high (which it is, in my experience) I don't think seeing someone without one warrants anything more than a tut and a shake of the head. Subtle social motivators like that are actually quite powerful.
If a small number want to be defiant and refuse to wear one then make a point of steering well clear of them, and let them get on with it in public spaces.
People should be wearing them definitely but I'd err very much on the side of caution with advocating harsh authoritarian practices to enforce it. My personal moral issues with those tactics aside; I actually think they could inadvertently have the opposite effect and push more people from the "begrudging but wearing one anyway" camp, into the "I'm going to make a stand against this and throw my mask away" camp.
Someone that wants to protest against wearing a mask isn't going to wear one. Even after decades, some people don't wear seatbelts even though it's proven to be for their own safety. The numbers are tiny though and the world want end because of them.
A lot of people feel uncomfortable when liberty is being interfered with. I would wear a mask, but I do feel that we are on a precipice regarding liberty and people need to understand what rights they are giving away

I agree (mostly) - I wish there was a way to make people understand that, at the very least, mass mask wearing is "worth a shot" whilst still keeping it as "heavily encouraged" rather than mandatory in public spaces. Although I also wish people would understand that shops and businesses are NOT public spaces that they have "the right" to use and that business owners had the balls (and financial backing of the government) to insist on mask wearing on entry.
However I accept that some people are lnt going to wear one voluntarily and - on balance - I'd rather let those people continue not wearing one then make mask wearing actually enforced in an authoritarian way. It is indeed a slippery slope, and I don't see any need. The "no masks" movement hasn't taken off to the extent that a large number of people aren't wearing them by choice - and I don't see it happening. In my experience thus far, its a very small percentage.

That’s irrelevant as each one can now pass it onto gawd knows how many others will are far more likely to get very ill and even die ...

the critical figure has always been the number of hospital admissions as that indicates the number of seriously ill and the number of hospital beds taken up by covid patients is tiny at the moment.
The issue with increased infection numbers is that there is a higher chance of catching it and/or passing it on to someone who is vulnerable, however, those that are vulnerable will be fine if they social distance, so it's up to individuals to make sure they are safe, it's in their own hands

Epidemiologists have already said the "most vulnerable" are already dead
that is absolutely true, because the death rate is now below the year to year average which is because covid has already killed a lot of the vulnerable, however, its not a static situation, people enter the vulnerable category continuously

Infection rates rise but deaths and hospital admissions remain low as experts
say people are passing on smaller doses of coronavirus due to social distancing
In England, there are about 450 patients in hospital with Covid-19 – well below the 17,000 that were during the pandemic's peak in April.

...I guess in a city that you have test centres close by, Annie...because especially as it all strives for ‘normality’ more now...testing is such a vital thing...
....but yeah, it’s been one of the toughest times for year 7’s particularly as well...because so many ‘final things’ that they weren’t able to experience in their year 6......and not able to properly meet their new school either as previous year 6 that have gone before...now they’ve barely been there and again that meeting and feeling comfortable is interrupted again...they obviously need to isolate that bubble, but it’s just so sad...

it should never get back to the point we were at in March if people are wearing masks and/or social distancingAssuming that masks and social distancing are what resulted in the drop in cases.
I'm not saying that isn't the case (although I think it's important to emphasise that it's still social distancing and hand hygiene that are the most important things by far).
But yeah there's no actual data on this. We know the things we did and we know those things work in test conditions, we know that case numbers fell... But we have no real robust data to confirm the causal relationship.
what i mean to say is that cases are going to rise as we go from a complete lockdown to having an open society again, and we should never lose sight of the fact that the reason we had the lockdown was to reduce the rate of infection and thus reduce the pressure on the NHS. It doesn't matter how many are infected if the pressure on the NHS remains below it's critical threshold. Obviously from a safety point of view we want the infection rate as low as possible, but it is what it is until we get effective treatment and/or a vaccine

Thats why the year groups are in bubbles. At the school I work at they have assigned each building to a year group and they have to remain in that bubble so if someone on the building is positive then its that year group that has to isolate rather than the whole school

Do we know what the R rate currently is?
I have no idea where we currently stand on all that now we dont have the daily coronavirus updates and graphs etc. I thought things are supposed to change of the R rate is over 1?

...it’s so much easier to risk assess for primary schools, I think...for many it would be only one class representing one year group/bubble...obviously more classes for the bigger town/city schools etc...but still much less than a higher school which have multiple primary’s feeding into them...I can’t even begin to fathom that, how to make it all work with all of the assessment considerations that are needed to implement...

However, Johnson just has to say all is wonderful and it's believed.
People are having to travel fairly long distances still just to get a test, as you say.
However it's stated almost every day on news or shows where covid comes up.
No wonder they stopped the daily briefings.
They can continue to deceive with next to no scrutiny.

...it’s so much easier to risk assess for primary schools, I think...for many it would be only one class representing one year group/bubble...obviously more classes for the bigger town/city schools etc...but still much less than a higher school which have multiple primary’s feeding into them...I can’t even begin to fathom that, how to make it all work with all of the assessment considerations that are needed to implement...
Well my daughters primary school has 2 classes in her year and they have to stay in that bubble they cant interact with the other class, so you have staggered times of going in being picked up and playtimes. Even parents have to stay in that bubble outside the school they cant wait in another area(how that works for people with kids in different years...I dont know)
In the high school I work at its the same. Each building is big enough for one year group to be in. The building I clean is for year 7s. The main building of the school is for year 11s etc etc
But I do wonder for siblings who are in other year groups would that defeat the purpose of a bubble.
For instance...if the year 11s had one postive case so all got sent home....but the postive case had a younger sibling in year 7 for example....would the year 7s then also go off??
Its all very much a grey area!

Also within 2 days of being at school my niece has caught a cold. Very likely she will have to be told to stay at home now.
As we go into the winter months that is a lot of students who will be told to stay at home
And if someone can catch a cold that quickly at a school then its easy to catch other viruses too....they say its not worrying for kids to get it....but what about their relatives or teachers and other staff?
kids may have to stick within bubbles while they are at school, but, kids will be kids, and they will interact with multiple groups outside of school, they always have and they always will, so the bubble concept is fatally flawed. It never ceases to surprise me how stupid these rule makers are

It gets even more bizarre when you consider sibling links within a school. My daughter is in P7, of her friends in her class (each class is a "bubble"), I know of kids with siblings in P1, 3, 4 and 5 at the very least. So yes they're in a school bubble, not allowed to interact with the other year groups at school, but they're living with people in other bubbles, which effectively makes it all one big bubble .
To further complicate that you have situations like my own; the school in our village doesn't have an ASD provision, so my youngest attends a completely different school in the area, about 15 minutes away. It's within another mainstream primary school (actually a bigger one than my eldest attends). It really puts a tonne of holes in the primary school class bubble concept. If my daughter's friend's little sister is in a class that has to isolate... but she lives with another kid... who is in my daughters class... who lives with her sister who is at another school... etc.

I don't claim to know which stat is or isn't most important (at a guess, I would say hospital admissions primarily) but I do definitely find it ... "interesting" ... that for months (and months) we were constantly told by All News Media that deaths was the "important stat" and it was the one on all of the front pages, no one really bothered about any other figure, just that big ol' scary deaths-per-day bell tolling in the afternoon... but now that deaths per day are relatively low it's the "bigger, scarier" new cases number that All News Media is hyper-focussed on. One suspects that it's mainly for that reason; easier to sensationalise a larger number and they have to keep the news "thrilling" (scare people) for the views & clicks.

I tell you what is a strange experience. Go on the link in the op on the first page of this to see the old coronavirus thread and read the first 10 pages of when this all started. The time it took to escalate was so scary looking back! Also look at how much of a meltdown the country went to when there were just 3 positive cases, now we have almost 3000 daily cases and that isnt a big number...apparently
Also remember the 1 death we had and everything went into chaos and people were stockpiling pasta and toilet rolls. Now we get at least 10 daily deaths. That also is now a low number...

To be fair (and I know it often doesn't feel like this) - I think this is because the virus itself isn't as severe as many people were concerned it might be. There was so much uncertainty back then about this being some sort of world-ending apocalyptic virus, so many unknowns, so much conflicting information and numbers coming from all over the place, that a bit of panic was inevitable. Despite everything still being very up in the air in terms of where it's going, we DO know certain things such as; the death rate is around 0.7%, deaths are massively skewed to the very elderly and people with other complex underlying conditions, and the medical profession is making constant advances in the best treatment strategies to reduce mortality. The death toll has been awful, the social and economic effects have been awful, but even at it's absolute worst we know it's not apocalyptic, that most people are asymptomatic, and that most others recover. There are still scare stories around but that's how things stand overall.
Back in the early days we had no idea about those things and it was widely believed that all or most cases were severe and horrendous, and that the death rate might be as high as 10 - 20%.

That part was always crazy. Really fascinating stuff, from a sociology viewpoint. Especially the toilet rolls. Irrationality gone viral.

yeah this is what i'm inclined to think to. If the death rate starts going up markedly then there is cause for concern, but media shouldn't be creating scaremongering news when it's not appropriate. We all know they have to make money (except the bbc) but they have a public responsibility in this pandemic, and right from the start they have not been responsible in what they have published

Two schools have closed after teaching staff tested positive for coronavirus within days of reopening.
Last week, there were queues at the gates as schools reopened across the UK.
Samuel Ward Academy in Haverhill, Suffolk, closed on Monday for a deep clean after five teachers tested positive for COVID-19, while another two are waiting for their test results.
And Old Buckenham High School near Attleborough, Norfolk, was also closed on Monday for a deep clean after a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.
Samuel Ward Academy reopened to some pupils last Thursday and many more from other year groups were due to return on Monday.
In a statement, the school said the closure was a “precautionary measure” and that it hoped to reopen on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people in England have been asked to self-isolate after attending a charity football match to prevent potential spread of coronavirus.
Up to 300 attendees of the game, which took place on the border of Sunderland and Durham near Houghton-le-Spring on 30 August, have been asked to quarantine themselves until 14 days after it took place.
The move came after 28 people who went to the match at the Burnside Working Men’s Club tested positive for COVID-19.

The schools in England haven't been back long enough for new cases to be because of schools opening, also, the proportionate rises (and timing of the increase) in Scotland and England are the same despite Scottish schools going back 3 weeks ago. The issue is not schools.

The latest "big change" in coronavirus infections across the UK is of "great concern", England's deputy chief medical officer has warned.
Prof Jonathan Van Tam said people have "relaxed too much" over the summer and "we have got to start taking this very seriously again".
If not, the UK will have "a bumpy ride over the next few months", he warned.
He said that infections among younger people in EU countries had later filtered through to older age groups.
His comments came as more parts of the UK are to face tougher restrictions following a rise in the number of cases.
On Sunday UK authorities announced 2,988 new cases - the highest figure since 22 May, while a further 2,948 cases were reported in the 24 hours to 09:00 BST on Monday.
Stricter rules on home visits will be extended to two more areas in the west of Scotland from midnight.
In Wales, the county borough of Caerphilly is to be placed under a local lockdown from 18:00 BST on Tuesday.
"People have relaxed too much, now is the time for us to re-engage, and to realise that this a continuing threat to us," Prof Van Tam said.
He added that hospital admissions and deaths were "at a very low level" in the UK and the rise in cases was most prominent among those aged between 17 and 21 - but the country risks following the trajectory of some EU countries.
"Where case numbers rise initially in the younger parts of the population they do in turn filter through and start to give elevated rates of disease and hospital admissions in the older age groups, and we know that then becomes a serious public health problem," he said.
"The fact that 17 to 21-year-olds are not becoming ill means they are lucky, but they also forget because the disease is not severe for them that they are potent spreaders."

Up to £3.5 billion of furlough cash stolen or paid out in error, HMRC boss says...
The Government believes it may have paid out up to £3.5 billion in wrong or fraudulent claims for the furlough scheme.
Jim Harra, the top civil servant at HMRC, said that his staff believe between 5% and 10% of furlough cash might have gone to the wrong places.
“We have made an assumption for the purposes of our planning that the error and fraud rate in this scheme could be between 5% and 10%,” the permanent secretary said.
He was speaking in front of MPs on the Public Accounts Committee.
The Government has so far paid out £35.4 billion in furlough cash, according to the latest figures.
It means that somewhere between £1.75 billion and £3.5 billion could have been paid out wrongly.
“That will range from deliberate fraud through to error,” he added.
“What we have said in our risk assessment is we are not going to set out to try to find employers who have made legitimate mistakes in compiling their claims, because this is obviously something new that everybody had to get to grips with in a very difficult time.
“Although we will expect employers to check their claims and repay any excess amount, but what we will be focusing on is tackling abuse and fraud.”
It is the first time HMRC has spoken publicly about the level of potential fraud that could have been committed as part of the job retention scheme, which covered up to 80% of an employee’s salary while they were on furlough.
The Government rolled out the massive scheme at breakneck speed, causing many experts to say that a certain amount of fraud was inevitable.
Furlough is now winding down and is expected to end for good next month, however businesses who bring staff back from furlough will receive another £1,000 if the employee is still in work by the end of January.
By August 16 this year, 9.6 million people had been put on Government-supported furlough, with 1.2 million employers claiming the support.
Meanwhile, around 2.7 million self-employed people have claimed around £7.8 billion in support from the Government.
Mr Harra said that an academic study has estimated that the level of fraud and error might be even higher than 10%.
https://uk.yahoo.com/finance/news/3-5-billion-furlough-cash-153045231.html

Entire queue at the check out.. maybe 10 folk... all fairly spaced apart but by no stretch of the imagination, 1+ 2 mtrs apart.
All bar one, in that queue (about 9 people plus kids) are not wearing masks, kids, adults, beefcake lads, mums with kids,... none of them..., ... not a one...
... except this one bemused looking lady, in a 3 day old, standard ****wit issue, black 'reusable' face mask possibly crawling in bacteria.....
She looked around, a dozen times... and I could actually see her thinking...
.... and then yes!!
Without prompting or badgering, without a single word said, she quietly took off her mask, and stuffed it in her pocket... I actually watched her BREATHE... It was a wonderful sight, I can tell you... Whether it was just the air, or the air and the relief, I don't know... but I watched a person breathe deep lungfuls of air, that, until then, they had foregone.
I could tell that she had recognised, and faced, her own fears, simply because of the strength she gained from all those in the shop. That is where our strengths really lie...

Hancock makes a good point in my opinion .. young folk and teenagers in particular are having a great time , living the life and being irresponsible then they go into our schools each day where there are hundreds of thousands of staff who are far more at risk .

Can Hancock get any worse.
This government of which HE is Health secretary, At a stroke stop shielding the elderly, making it likely they have to go out more.
They then force schools back.
Universities will be returning soon too.
There'll be cities and shops filled with more people.
Then screaming for people to stop working at home and fill the offices and cities and towns again too.
While the elderly have to do as best they can among all of that.
Then Hancock sets out to pin onto and add blame to the young, for any possible rise in deaths of the elderly.
That man is a total disgrace across the board.

The thing is many , many teenagers and the under 30’s are carrying on as though Covid simply doesn’t exist .

I can't agree.
Perhaps in party settings maybe.
However the government has issued conflicting and confusing advice.
It's still starting to pussyfoot around things again now
How many areas across the Country are now having to be watched as to rising infections.
While this lot start it seems their previous procrastination stance again.
The testing seems to have problems almost everywhere.
However,
I think there's more than just the young failing to observe the safety advice.
Which was always going to result in opening up too much too soon.
Which is totally this government's decision to do so.

i've always thought that Hancock wasn't up to the job and it's been proven throughout the pandemic. I don't trust him, indeed, i don't trust any of them. I look after myself and my family and friends and that's how i will continue

I am pretty sure from people I talk to.
It's not only the young who are not social distancing in pubs and restaurants.
There's pubs open which aren't even taking contact details.
3 friends of mine left when they weren't asked to leave contact details in one.
They're not just to blame.
To make a generalised statement like don't kill your Grandparents.
From a Minister and Health minister at that.
Is at best unbelievable and really pathetic.
My judgment needs sharpening up definitely, I once thought Hancock could have been a good leader of the Con party.
Now all I've seen from him is deceit and him being a walking disaster.

Social gatherings of more than six people will be illegal in England from Monday - with some exemptions - amid a steep rise in coronavirus cases.
A new legal limit will ban larger groups meeting anywhere socially indoors or outdoors, No 10 said.
But it will not apply to schools, workplaces or Covid-secure weddings, funerals and organised team sports.
It will be enforced through a £100 fine if people fail to comply with police, doubling up to a maximum of £3,200.
Several exemptions apply to the new rules - which come into force on 14 September - with households and support bubbles bigger than six people are unaffected.
A full list of exemptions will be published by the government later.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to deliver further details at a Downing Street news conference on Wednesday.

So... what does this actually mean? Does it mean people in groups of six can't meet up in a pub/restaraunt or does it mean no more than six people can be in a pub/restaraunt?

I doubt these incompetents in government have a clue what they really mean in their rulings and guidelines.
They can only create confusion and even contradict the advice they give.
Quite where we're heading now again, I doubt they even have a clue.

It apparently means I’ll be ok in a classroom with two other adults and 34 teenagers as long as the window is open ...

it's pretty obvious the way it's all heading. If the numbers don't come down within a couple of weeks, they will go back to the support bubble stage. I can see December/January being pretty much closed down and I think they need to look at schools opening over the summer and closing over the winter

British Airways passengers have told the BBC that they have been refused cash refunds for cancelled flights.
Gordon and Margaret Minto accepted vouchers instead after their flights to the United States were cancelled, the airline says.
"We were stunned... we looked at each other and said, 'we haven't asked for a voucher'. We haven't received one either", says Margaret.
BA said it will "always provide a refund if a customer is eligible".
But the Mintos from South Shields are among many holidaymakers who have found themselves in a stand-off with the airline after their flights were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The airline maintains they accepted vouchers, while they all say they never wanted vouchers at all.

...when they list the exemptions... are medical reasons for those...(...if they’re not obvious etc...)...going to be given as well...?... because that’s really important also, I think...it just prevents those inconsistencies that are often thought... and with inconsistency comes defiance because no sense of it is being made, etc...I mean, we all deserve to have our lives risk assessed and safeguarded..?...we do, our children do, our parents/grandparents do, our siblings do, our friends do and other friends of our friends and etc and etc...every life deserves that ...so when there are exemptions...it’s really important that medical explanations etc are explained really clearly../medical facts etc...and why those exemptions just HAD to be.../...that isn’t always done at all...
The problem with constantly changing rules is that people take less and less notice of them. I don't particularly blame the government for that, we have learnt more about the virus etc, and the infection rate is fluctuating region by region, but the simple fact is that any adult knows how best to protect themselves by now, and what the gains are to being cautious. The liberty issues are now becoming very important, because ever changing laws are being applied to the public on an almost weekly basis. That is not sustainable in a free society
...actually the simple fact is, bots...that not every adult does know how to protect themselves ...some very much need guidance and that’s the simple fact of it...and they need that guidance to be clearly explained, especially as many u-turns are made...and especially as it’s always ever evolving etc...I mean, if a child didn’t understand something and it was obvious that they didn’t understand because they weren’t following any understanding/guidance that others were...in a school environment for instance...?...I can’t think that anyone would find it acceptable with the thought process and actions of...well you should know, I shouldn’t need to clarify, now just get on with it, please and stop being so dependant...we absolutely can look to the government for reasons for their exemptions to be explained, for EVERYONE to understand and comply etc...we absolutely and totally can...we absolutely often don’t get those reasons though that can lead to such confusion, stepping closer to non compliance mind sets...
we will need to agree to disagree Ammi ... we just don't think about things the same way
we will need to agree to disagree Ammi ... we just don't think about things the same way

This is the start of the second wave. I think we are heading into national lockdownThe economic damage of the last one means that simply will not happen. Obviously I can't say 100% but I would be very, very surprised. At the very least, there's no way they're going to close down things like "non-essential" medical services like they did last time, because the knock on effect has been catastrophic already. Turns out there's really no such thing as a non essential medical service. Who would have guessed?

.....hmmmm, I haven’t read the story atm...but I guess that there are so many flaws with exemption card carrying and showing them..they might be considered to be something that could be copied very easily, so therefore, disregarded Any those they’re shown to/as appropriate...and also in an ‘ambush’ situation and huge hostility and/or aggression being faced, it doesn’t make it easy to show an exemption card ...when possibly having a ‘mind of chaos’ at that moment...
....I can’t imagine how exemption cards work in the USA or any country with armed police...‘I’m just popping my hand in my pocket for my exemption card, excuse me, officer’...
...’ oh, indeed not.../bang bang you’re dead...’...
...I really can’t gel with the ever visible Sunflower lanyards either...they could just add another layer of vulnerability to the already vulnerable...but we’ll see how much used they are and how effective etc...

I doubt we'll be learn very much at either.
PMQs is a disgrace with him.
It's a total waste of time.
I can't believe Hancock is almost blaming people seeking tests, for the failing and inadequate testing system.
As to the inconsistencies and endless confusion of the government's words, (I won't call it advice as true advice is what can be understood and followed), it will be no surprise I wholly agree with Ammi's comments.
The heads in the sand leaning to try to defend this incredible incompetent lot dealing with our care and health and lives, is sad to see.
If Hancock, although he's just the PMS poodle in this in part..
Had he been a Labour minister or of any other party in government, voters, myself at the front of the queue too, with the media would be day after day callng for and demanding his sacking,
The biggest call too from the Con party too.
This is one almighty mess, dealing with this hateful virus, of this PMs and his government's own making.
Because they won't work with others and it's clear they have very little as to a clue what clear advice to give.
Even after having this on their desks for near all this year.
Apparently Hancock has now refused to rule out another National lockdown.
Confusing, that's all you can say about this government.
